The technicians were pleasant to deal with. After the first repair of our heater (we'd gone 3 weeks through December without heat, waiting for home warranty to approve and schedule an appointment), the heater broke again the next day. So we spent Christmas in a cold home without heat. After Christmas, Qual Tech sent someone out again to re-assess the heater, and found that the coils were broken and the heater needed replacing. We then spent New Years home without heat.
John has always been very pleasant to talk with on the phone, has returned calls promptly, and done a great job.
They were successful in persuading the Home Warranty company to provide a new heater to us, which is wonderful, extremely helpful. The home warranty company has made us do more than 7 service calls on a broken AC system through the summer... yes, unheated home in winter, uncooled home in summer, thanks to home warranty company.
So we're very thankful to Qual Tech for the follow-up service calls and persuading our home warranty company to replace our heater.
But the technicians (or just 1 of them, there were 2 but only 1 distinct pair of greasy footprints) managed to find a puddle of greasy oil in our garage --- I didn't know it was there, I would have cleaned it up promptly; it's come under my car in the last 2 weeks --- and there are now greasy, oily footprints all over our garage floor, in front of our door, and in and out of the garage. I've spent the last 2 hours (bad timing, lost work) trying to clean up after them. We cannot walk into our house from the garage. It's going to take a few more hours to clean this mess.
I really wish A) I had known about the oil spill, I would have covered it with cardboard at least, and B) the technician had had the sense not to step in oil then spread it everywhere; AND, seeing that he'd stepped in oil, STOPPED spreading it everywhere, then cleaned up after himself.
When I do repair work, mechanical work, building work, etc, I take pride in my professionalism of cleaning up after myself and leaving the area cleaner than I found it. Most professionals I know feel and act the same way.
This may seem a small detail, but it goes a very long way in customer satisfaction. Creating a mess then leaving it behind as your calling card also leaves an indelible impression.

Put in a call last year with my home warranty company and they sent me someone that made a mess of my ac. Home warranty called in the help of Martin and he fixed me up the next day. Called Martin this year, returned my call within the hour. He went over my expectations and text me the next day to check on things to see if I needed help, which I ended up needing. I have been using this family owned company for my home and business for years. I have had first class service from them. Jason who is the son has taken over for his father who is in remission from cancer. He also is a very kind and caring man who taught his son well. I have called Jason on crazy hours and yes even Saturday and Sunday and they always fit me in. I have sent him to my parents on a Sunday he came out and fixed the problem. I had a problem with my gas heat- no heat or flow in one zone of the house. I called Wolff for service. I do have an old two zone heating/AC system with the heater in the attic. The tech promptly came, and went up in the attic and said the limit switches are weak and he has adjusted them, and it will work. He said it takes an hour or more for me to feel the heat. He recommended a new system, and gave me a detailed quote for a new system, strongly pushing it. He also charged me $160 for the service call. After he left, there was no heat even after a few hours. I reluctantly went up on the attic myself to check, and found that the duct system that connects to the heater was completely disconnected and the duct was lying on the floor, with nice hot air spewing into the attic. I reconnected it and secured it with duct tape, and lo and behold, got heat in the house immediately. I am unhappy that I was charged $160, though the problem was obvious and unattended to; the tech was only interested in trying to sign me up for a new system. I needed to replace my old system, but chose another company based on this experience. I hope this was an an isolated problem since i do see good reviews from others.

I was originally ok with paying a premium for Howard Air. They are more expensive but I thought had good warranty and service. For the past 3 years tried to get pricing for a thermostat with sensor. Excuse after excuse for not providing it. This year I was told to go to their showroom to see the options. Which I did and the people at the showroom were shocked I was told this since it was a 30 min drive for me and able to be discussed over the phone. No one had pricing since it was a new item. Was told a new thermostat installed was over $500 or if I wanted to buy it myself over $200 to install. I wanted it and it would work for how my house is set up and when the technician came I was told he would be an expert in setting this up because Howard Air does hundreds a day and that's what I'm paying for. Technician left me to connect to WiFi myself and was looking online with me for step by step guide to set up sensors. During the whole time taking about how complicated it was and his first time Installing them. Some $200 each expert I was paying for. Called the office while he was here, explained my frustration and just like Howard Air they said they would call me back and never did. No discount for having to set up the thermostats myself. Waiting for my warranty to expire then finding a new HVAC company.
