Best Heating & Air Conditioning/HVAC in United States

My wife and I don't use anyone but Donley. They have always taken care of us when we need them the most. From their customer reps to their service techs, they are all very professional, helpful and friendly.

If I could give zero stars...

I'm not one to write negative reviews, but others need to be educated on this company. Because this was one of the worst service experiences I've ever had.  

I originally had an appointment with them on the 9th. John, the owner perhaps, called me on the 6th at around 1pm to see if I could do it same day because there is a big repair job being done on the 9th. I said, sure that works out better for me anyway. He says 330-5pm a contractor would be at my place and they'd call 30 min prior. 430pm rolls around and no phone call. I call John, no answer. 5:10pm now and I'm frustrated so I call and leave a voicemail expressing my frustration about the no-show and no-call. He calls me back and explains that there were 2 other jobs and that I'm next. Asks if it would inconvenience my night (it was clear to him that it did). I took a minute with him on the phone pondering my options and when I asked he said a *reschedule* would put me on the board for the 18th now!! That was strike number two. I really should have just canceled at that point.. So after a minute of keeping him on the phone again and thinking about my options, I said ok, let's go ahead and get it done despite it being a thorn in my side that they were late and outside their window.

535pm, the tech shows up. Goes straight to the compressor unit and takes off the covers and does a power check. Does another thing or 2 for 5 minutes and then decides to close up the covers. I asked if everything looked good. He said yea. I asked if the refrigerant was low. He looks at me and says Has it been low in the past? I said yes, I added some last year or the year before. So clearly, he hasn't checked it at all. So he goes to his truck and gets his gauges. He checks it and then says he's going to get a rag quick from the truck. About 3 minutes goes by and I decide to go out and see if maybe he tried to ring the doorbell and couldn't get back in. I see him at the truck with his logs and he's on the phone, apparently calling One Guard (my home warranty co). He didn't take the time to explain to me the situation. Instead he lied about getting a rag and was trying to squeeze in a call to One Guard to see if refrigerant was covered on my plan before establishing a plan of action. Strike three here for me. I stand by listening. He can't get a hold of the One Guard rep that approves these decisions so he figures they're closed (it's after-hours, remember?). He calls John, and explains the situation. Guess what John says. Reschedule.

That's when I lost it, internally at least. When the tech got off and told me that, I said Nope! cancel everything, and I'm not paying for any of it. I told the tech to wait while I called John and I gave John a piece of my mind:
Bumping me off schedule for a higher paying job and asking to reschedule same day, only to be late and not call at all. Then, your tech doesn't know that after-hours he probably can't get a hold of a One Guard rep?!! And he lies about making that phone call to begin with? And then, you're telling me to reschedule after all this heartache? Wasting an hour of my Friday evening only to tell me you don't know that the warranty company closes at 5pm? And then telling me I lost my original slot?

A good company would have paid the $40-50 of refrigerant OUT OF POCKET instead of making a customer irate about this nonsense. This company clearly cares more about profit than it does about its customers.

This is the second time I've used Grand Canyon Refrigeration services for my ac repair.  I was very happy with the services Martin provided the first time and wanted to use his services again. My ac was blowing hot air and I called Martin on Thursday afternoon.  He told me he will give me a call back to schedule an appointment when he gets the work order and will check his schedule, and more than likely it will be Saturday morning due to his busy schedule with other customers.  I was find with that because we are in the middle of summer and they have very hectic schedule, so I wasn't expecting the same day or the next day service.  He gave me a call on next morning and says that he will be in my area and if I was available he will stop by to check on my ac unit.  About one hour or so he came, took my unit apart and found the problem and fixed it. I was very happy with his service once again.  I highly recommend him for your heating and Air Conditioning needs.  Nice guy and great to talk with and he will answer all your questions you have.  Thank you Martin.

If there are nicer people in AZ-I don't know where they are.  I can't imagine a situation that (even if it was screwed up) they wouldn't make right.  Needed parts for my fridge and they were great.  Is amazon cheaper-yes-but I sure felt better about the experience and was able to help a local business.  Plus they figured a work around on my part...which amazon would probably not do.

My review is overdue.

Air conditioning not working properly on 8/18/20 and was referred to this company. Arrived same day and John began troubleshooting the problem. I'm in a complex and multiple units on the roof are not well identified. But he figured it out, took pictures and properly marked the unit. Replaced condenser fan motor and solved the problem. John was well trained and did a very good explaining the issue.

Had them back to replace old thermostat with a new Nest. Valley Best did a great job for me and system has worked great in these crazy temperatures. Thank you.

For a small charter school, we have to watch every dime.  Jason delivered on every promise, on time, affordable, and excellent service. Very dependable. I highly recommend.

We got to know Sam before he started his own business.   We will follow him WHEREVER he is!  EXCEPTIONAL!

Reached out to get a quote for a new ac, Bill did a great job walking me through the different options I had and worked with me to get it scheduled. The installation went smoothly and now I get to enjoy a much quieter and more efficient heat pump.

I have been using this family owned company for my home and business for years. I have had first class service from them. Jason who is the son has taken over for his father who is in remission from cancer. He also is a very kind and caring man who taught his son well. I have called Jason on crazy hours and yes even Saturday and Sunday and they always fit me in. I have sent him to my parents on a Sunday he came out and fixed the problem. He is  very reliable and very kind and caring. Jason I cant THANK YOU enough! If I had known about them being on Yelp I would Have shared this sooner!

Working with Semper Solaris was a pleasure. Dennis walked us through all our options for the system. He made everything very understandable and let us know what to expect every step of the way. The rest of the Semper Solaris team also communicated very well and kept us updated on the project. I have been a good customer for Wolff for 22 years but my latest dealings with them has changed my opinion. I called for a problem with one of my ac units and the tech said I needed new parts which were under warranty. He would order them and have the work done in a week.  I approved the work but had to leave town.  I returned 6 weeks later to find no work done and my house at 100o.  They were to install a new unit on the other side of my house but during the process said there was a gas line problem and I had to call another plumber to fix it.  Their people are the only ones that have ever been in my attic yet they took no responsibility for the bent flex line.  I found the techs professional and very courteous and friendly but it ends there.

i would leave 0 stars if i could. these jokers arrived at my house yesterday at 7am to install a brand new ac unit. ive waited months for this because the unit was on backorder. they worked from 7am to 8pm, taking up my whole day during which time i had no air conditioning. at 8pm, with the air running, they left. by 10pm the air was no longer working. im dissatisfied not only with the poor quality of the install but also the way it has not at all been rectified. i called the 24hour number both last night and this morning. both times i was told i woukd be receiving a call back from dispatch - one operator lied and said it would only take 10 minutes - but dispatch never called and i still don't have air. i will never recommend these totally uncool losers to anyone. save your money. i had air before they arrived and now i dont. con artists.

UPDATE: they sent someone over right away this morning to fix the problem and after another 2 hours of him working he told me he has to come back monday for ANOTHER 6 hour job. 20 hours i have to have these losers in my home. worst experience i've ever had with a business and i will be reporting them to the BBB

We researched many AC companies in the Phoenix area for a complete new HVAC system and Tim Friederich of Red Mountain Air Conditioning was always quick to respond to our many calls and questions. He clearly explained the pro's and con's of the many systems on the market and on his advice we decided on the Trane XR17. We scheduled the installation date which was promptly installed in one day. Tim was extremely professional and recommended we balance the system with some extra ductwork to ensure maximum efficiency. Tim inspected the installation and instructed us on the Thermostat settings. The installation work was all completed in a timely fashion and Tim's follow up was impressive. I would highly recommend this AC company and Tim Friederich. Thank you for a cool summer season.

If there had been an option of zero stars, that's what I would have given.

It has been very interesting reading the reviews of Orangutan Home Services (OHS) posted here.  Our experiences mirror almost all of the negative reviews. I thought Why should I post anything?  It's all been said.  But, I really feel strongly about informing the public that OHS is not a company that can be respected.

We have been a customer of OHS for more than 20 years, first American Home Maintenance which then became Orangutan. For the past at least 4 years, their technicians have been attempting to up-sell products because ours are unrepairable, or parts need replacing. I have been testing OHS repair recommendations now by getting second opinions from other companies, and in all cases the parts that supposedly needed replacing were working just fine.  Sure, I'm paying for the second opinions, but it's less expensive than the repairs that OHS says I need.

We have had numerous instances of these up-sell techniques from OHS, but I want to relay to everyone the one that broke the camels back.  We purchased a state of the art (installers words) water softener from OHS about two years ago. The best one on the market.  Two months ago, it stopped regenerating. The technician took the cover off the brine tank, looked at the salt and said Well, your water softener is shot..  Really? He could tell that by looking in the brine tank? The softener was still under warranty.  He said that they don't sell this system anymore. (And apparently they won't service it even though they did sell it).  He said that he would replace it with (again a state of the art) system for $4,000. After he left, I called the manufacturer directly, explained the problem, and they told me what they thought was wrong. They gave me the name and number of a local repair person who services this brand of water softener. Long story short, the broken part cost $1.50, the service call cost $75. That's a savings to us of $3,924.

OHS has lost us as customers.  They don't have integrity. And we sincerely hope that anyone who reads this and all of the other reviews will think twice about using this company for their home services.
