Best Heating & Air Conditioning/HVAC in Arizona
Like Forrest Gump's box of chocolates, when you need an air conditioner repairman you never know what you're going to get. More often than not one goes with the flashy newspaper ads or brightly colored trucks, all paid for with their big profit margin, or maybe from mailings offering a free inspection (just to get them in the door). These often are the guys who will praise you for your decision to call them because if you had waited you would have suffered a fire or flood or the plague or locusts or worse. They use words like: what you have is too old, parts are too hard to get, or the compressor was the wrong size for the house to begin with. And will likely add: oh by the way, you need to replace the unit in the attic and all the ducting too because it is leaking and cooling the whole attic and is about to fail/ won't accommodate the new compressor/is a fire hazard or whatever. I haven't been up in my attic for years and am too smart to mess with the compressor so I must rely on what the tech tells me. That's scary.
Years ago I saw a 60 minutes spot on this subject. I was living in California at the time but this happened to take place in Phoenix. As I recall, legitimate technicians selected a couple of homes with adequately functioning systems, then did something minor to make them fail. Several local companies were called and each recommended at least major repairs or replacement of the unit, estimates in some cases in the tens of thousands of dollars. The technician in one company looked the system over, replaced the fuse or tightened up a hose or whatever and didn't charge a cent. Said he was in the area anyway. Pretty amazing I thought. That tech was from Donley Service Center.
So last summer when I noticed my fifteen year old system was working pretty hard cooling off my great room I called Donley. A technician by the name of Chris Hill came out, went through a thorough diagnostic procedure, added refrigerant and cleaned up both compressors, and for less than $350 that was it. His comment: Operating normally for age and condition. And by the end of the summer we had saved way more than the cost of the service.
A bathroom hot water leak in two places under the slab necessitated another call to Donley last month. Josh Crabtree, ably assisted by Brian and especially Pat, leak detective extraordinaire from Artisan Leak Detection. Pat did a masterful job finding the leaks and orchestrating the complex task of isolating the lines which were leaking and rerouting one and creating a second line directly from the water heater. Josh and Brian took care of the actual work, and did so to my complete satisfaction, finishing it all in one day.
Donley Service Center merits my strongest possible recommendation.

My house warranty company had to send 3 different AC techs out to my house before my AC problem was fixed. The last Tech, Christian, from
Qual-Tech AC was the absolute best! He was friendly, professional and after he fixed the problem he explained (in terms I could understand) exactly what the problem was, and how he fixed it. This company, and Christian in particular, come highly recommended.

I had Martian
I had Martian every time we have needed anything. He is very honest, nice, very good at explaining what he is doing and what is needed. I have recommended him to all of my friends and family members. He comes once a year and does the maintenance on our unit that he installed 4 years ago. Would definitely recommend him to anyone needing this kind of service! We are customers for life!( or as long as he is working)

Our dryer died and all diagnostics showed it needed a new control board. We found some on Amazon but delivery times were way out. I found Kevin's on Yelp and called. They knew exactly what we needed, they were able to order it in for next day and their price was much better than Amazon. I picked it up the next day and a few hours later returned the code for a refund. They were very accommodating and well priced. I highly recommend.

A man named Val came out and got our faulty A/C up and running within 10mins of arriving. We were worried we would have to sweat through the night before our problem would be fixed but this guy fixed it and had our house cooling back down in no time. We were surprised someone would come out so late too, we knew it was a stretch to get someone out so quickly and late at night on a weekend but these guys pulled through. True customer service. Thanks Val!

Our AC went out during the record heat in July of course but Jason responded asap in spite of an already packed schedule. He quickly diagnosed and repaired the problem. We felt the price was fair and the service was great. Highly recommend.

Bill came out and serviced our 3 year old heat pump. He was very through and explained what he was doing and educated us on a few things since we are from another state and had never owned a heat pump before. I will continue to call Bill for all of our heating and cooling needs. He is honest and truly cares about the quality of his work.

I have been using this family owned company for my home and business for years. I have had first class service from them. Jason who is the son has taken over for his father who is in remission from cancer. He also is a very kind and caring man who taught his son well. I have called Jason on crazy hours and yes even Saturday and Sunday and they always fit me in. I have sent him to my parents on a Sunday he came out and fixed the problem. He is very reliable and very kind and caring. Jason I cant THANK YOU enough! If I had known about them being on Yelp I would Have shared this sooner!

If you're thinking about going Solar + Energy Storage, these are your guys! They are nothing short of a reputable, professional, 1st class organization.
I have friends that have worked with them in CA and they are extremely happy post install. Their customer service is great all the way through.
I'm excited to to get my project going in AZ with them!

Awful is a good word for their business. In 18 months time they over billed by $17,000+. They looked into it and said they only over billed by $8,000+. This was a commercial account and we spent over $300,000. I would not recommend this company!

Schedulers and service folks are 5*. But they service manger/company will not provide transparent pricing. Parts and labor are lump sum and they will not break it out. Statement: We provide book plus labor and it is competitive but we cannot break it out. Cost is roughly 60% parts/40% labor. But if you provide the parts then the cost will be 60% labor. Yup, no transparency and sliding costs depending on the situation.

I have been a customer of Orangutan Home Services since December 2009. Starting in 2010, I've had nothing but frustration and disgusted with such an unprofessional and unethical company. They have constantly overcharged regular service calls, and cannot seem to fix even simple repairs when to comes to swap coolers (the suggestion from them in 2014 was for an $800 AdobeAir thermostat that was no longer available, I found it on Amazon for $72). This last service call they are telling me it will take 3 to 9 weeks for a new coil for my Maytag HVAC to be delivered (it's back ordered) , and they originally quoted me $1,600.00 to fix it (I literally cried my way down to $1,150.00). Most of their technicians are sub par at best...I've had a couple of decent ones (Joe was good on this most recent call, and very considerate...credit where due), the man bun millennial arrogant jerk on last years service call was unbearable, and WAY over charged me on parts and labor by several hundred dollars (I later found out). They've purposely up charge repeatedly in the past. I felt I was stuck with them because of my warranty w/ Maytag, but I'm finding out that's not the case. UPDATE: 7/15/18 CREDIT WHERE CREDIT IS DUE: Tina, the parts manager, has been tirelessly trying to make this repair work (w/ the least amount of pain). She seems to be the only one there who knows what's going on and really reached out to me. She got on their vendor BIG TIME, and (after a call from me to Nortek, the national HQ for Maytag's HVAC parts), she finally got the missing coil within 24 hours ( at the 2 week mark). She then sent in her A team...Brandon, a brand new employee, who was a GODSEND with outstanding HVAC knowledge...BY FAR the best technician I've worked with in my 7.5 years history with the company. This was not an easy repair, but for two late nights in a row he would not settle until it was installed and working RIGHT. He called in ANTHONY, who helped him prefab a valve to connect the coil and get it up and running. It took my house 3 hours to cool to 80 degrees (from 94 degrees, yes it was a long 2 week wait!) but all is well, and Anthony is doing a check to make sure all stays well. As for the rest of the company, let the reviews speak for themselves. As for Tina, Brandon and Anthony, they all deserve a RAISE! I'm very grateful to all three of them.
06/11/2019 - nearly one year later, my ORIGINAL PROBLEM (leaking Freon) has not resolved! This goes back to the horrendous trouble shooting team in which the repairmen depend on. The problem is the CORPORATE SYSTEM. Likely the #1 reason they can't keep their good repairmen with them. $1,150.00 later my Freon is leaking once again (after full time use of approx 5 days), risking another system break down. I'm going with a local competitor who is competent to fix the problem once and for all. Orangutan, NEVER AGAIN, after nearly 10 years of GARBAGE. Tired of your below poor technical service.
Don't bother with your auto reply canned response, Orangutan HS. I've read them all. Going to Atty General now.
