Best General Contractors in Phoenix, AZ

We called George at Contessa Stone to come give us a quote for a new fireplace mantle and overmantle. He came and looked at the fireplace we had and worked with us on a design that both my wife and I loved. He gave us a timeframe for the stone delivery and the installation and Mario who did the installation of the Stone was really great. He truly cared about the work and took his time to make sure it was done right. The whole process was really smooth and any small issues were resolved very quickly. I would definitely recommend George, Mario and Contessa Stone to anyone.

I've known Tim Mullooly for over 10 years. He built the patio I designed in the picture above for a good friend of mine. In 2009, Mullooly Construction remodeled our house inside while we lived here. He phased the work. Performed very well, and coordinated his subcontractors well. I recommended Tim to several other friends and he did a great job for them too. I even recommended him for a remodel of a rental house our church owns. A couple years ago I hired him to oversee the replacement of our old windows. Tim is honest, completely trustworthy and does quality work. My background was in commercial construction so I know quality when I see it.

How often do people have nice things to say about their contractor?  Luke at Vista General is amazing.  

This is the second time I've used his company in a major remodel and I'm just as happy as ever.  What's more, I've referred other people to hire Luke and they too sign his praises and, I'm told, are hiring him for more work.

Lollis Custom Interiors, LLC  are Licensed, Bonded and Insured Contractors. I had a leak in the drain pipes in my master bathroom. After exchanging a few emails with Elizabeth from Lollis, we setup a time for them to come look at the issue and provide an estimate. Randy and his son, Jared, true gentlemen, personable, polite and extremely professional duo, arrived on time. They looked at the problem, asked me a few questions and gave me an estimate. I found the estimate to be very reasonable and agreed to have the repairs done. Jared followed up with a written contract in a email. I agreed to the description of the repair and the terms listed in the contract. Two days after our initial contact, they had a slot open to do the repairs. Randy and Jared showed up on time and completed the job in 5.5 hours including a trip to home depot. They removed the top, the cabinets, disconnected drain and water supply, cut the sheet rock, chiseled away the concrete and replaced the cracked drain pipes and fittings with new pipes and fittings. The pipes and fittings were cracked because the builder incorrectly poured concrete over them. The recent tremors we felt in Arizona and constant expansion and contraction over the years cracked the pipes and the fittings. With Randy's experience and Jared's skills, my bathroom does not at all looks like it has been worked on. They did a meticulous job doing the repairs. Randy even went above and beyond the contracted work and cleaned the aerators, hard to turn faucets and glued the loose back splash on the tub.
I am extremely impressed with their workmanship but more importantly with their honesty to their profession and the dedication with which they completed the repairs. I did not see them cutting any corners. They worked on it like they were doing repairs in their own house.

Joel and his son came to the rescue! We moved in to our new home in January and while I'm in love with pretty much everything about it, the uneven roof lining along the peak of our house had bothered me since day 1. The seller denied fixing it in our inspection period, so it was on my *lengthy* list of move-in to-dos.

I found AZ Studs, Carpentry, and Remodeling on Yelp and gave them a call! Joel called me back within an hour, willing to come over and take a look that day. Now friends, this is a very minor job compared to their full remodels but he was willing to help put my type A mind at ease. He installed a wooden piece along the base of the peak to make it nice and straight. Yayyyy!! I'm so happy. It has literally bothered me every day since move-in ( I AM CRAZY) and I'm so grateful that he was willing to take the time out of his *very busy* schedule to do this super tiny, 45 minute job for me.

I will definitely be calling Joel and his son (love the father/son team) back when we do future projects on our home. Can't thank them enough!

Called this company late on a Friday. Al came out Monday. He kept in touch as to what time he'd be out to fix our fire sprinkler system. He gave us a quote over the phone and kept his word. He had to replace a valve. We were very impressed with his professionalism. He's knowledgeable and would definitely call again if we have any more problems with our fire system. Thank you very much!

Stan did a great job with putting up our Courtyard lights. Had a great sense of what we wanted he was knowledgeable and professional. I'll hire for anything I need done home improvement wise.

I really can't say enough about Gaio Contracting. I was lucky to have them install my kitchen. The owner/Rick is very hands on & a perfectionist of installations. Very kind & knowledgeable on how to keep the supply & demand moving. His wife also just as kind & nice. Old school pleasantries & speaking to you not at you. Recommend highly, even over some big box companies.

I've been meaning to write this for a while. Chuck (William Ahl) is as good as they come. We had moved into our home last year and it had a large load bearing wall that we needed removed that was adjoining a sunken in living room. Chuck was the first contractor that was able to tell us right away what the scope of the project was going to be and how he would get it done. From the onset, he was always very professional. He kept good records, always showed up on time, and was very pleasant to be around (we had to live in our home during the construction). It was a big job but him and his right hand man Evan did a fantastic job and it turned out beautifully. A few more things I appreciated where Chuck took the extra step: 1. He always cleaned up after every day as much as he could. We were still living in our home and we appreciated that everything was kept as neat as possible especially since we have little kids. 2. He does not ever compromise safety. He will always do the job right the first time even if it means more work. We have peaked ceilings and he took the time to put up temporary supports while putting up the new beam. 3. He prides himself on his work. He won't cut corners. He has a high standard for himself and will make sure whatever project he's doing will be done right every time. In addition to our load bearing wall Chuck also made us a beautiful custom chimney cap, filled an old doggie door, and took out some really big columns. Our new great room is now complete and absolutely beautiful! I definitely hope to use Chuck again for future projects and would highly recommend him to anyone looking to start a small or large project. He is licensed and insured so he can do anything!

Total remodel of two story home (which included removing and laying new tile and hardwood stairs on both floors, added additional lighting throughout house, removed and added new doors throughout house, removed old wall paper and repainted every room (including ceilings), extended patio deck and handled all permitting through the city, installed new ceiling fans, prewired electrical for new TV's and bar area.

Most important, this was a very honest and trustworthy family to work with, which was our primary criteria for selecting them in the beginning, they were outstanding!

I used Aldana Renovations to do some repairs to my subfloor that had water damage. Andoni came out and did an awesome job of repairing the flooring as reinstalling the laminate above it. His prices were more than fair, he was on time, and worked quickly. I would definitely recommend him.

Dave & Mario are true craftsmen that know their trade very well! They are completely reliable and trustworthy. They have done 2 major home remodels for us consisting of kitchen, bath, tile, flooring, general structural work, plumbing, electrical, heating and air duct work. We are thrilled with the finished products! They have been in this business for decades and have great working relationships with many sources that were very beneficial to completing our projects.  They were able to advise and guide us along the way. They were completely reliable to do everything they said, in the timeframe stated, at competitive prices. They worked hard to get each task completed with quality craftsmanship. Through both of the remodels they handled themselves professionally and cheerfully. We enjoyed working with them and they were great with our dogs!  We fully recommend American General Contracting for any new construction or remodeling!

Our dishwasher failed while we were away and the significant water damage (about which we initially were unaware) not only slowly created mold inside our walls; it ruined most of our kitchen cabinetry. Since our house was built in 1984 the kitchen had been updated but never fully remodeled (including the original fluorescent lighting and drop-ceiling!).  We had no intention to undergo such significant a project but the timing would never be better.

Our insurer provided a list of its approved contractors but because the economy is so strong here in AZ, few responded and even fewer provided a bid (of the 18 GC's contacted). During the mold remediation process (a terrible experience we wish upon no one!), we were referred to Copper State Remodeling, a fully licensed and bonded General Contractor.  Are we ever grateful!

Mike Byrnes, its owner, came to our home the same day we contacted him and expediently provided a comprehensive bid:  Seal the rest of the house off (we lived in it throughout...), repair walls post-mold remediation, demo/remove all cabinets, drop ceiling and equally dated lighting, etc. His crew then installed new drywall/texture, redesigned our HVAC (making it more efficient), fully upgraded LED lighting, painted, and even completed minor structural improvements.

Mike as project manager, most capably coordinated and oversaw each subcontractor, the cabinetry company, appliance delivery/install, and the granite fabrication/install. Each and every individual who came into our home was the utmost in professionalism, competence, consideration, and also friendliness--including being most dog-friendly!

Copper State Remodeling was competitive in its bid.  Most of all though, we appreciate the significant added value Mike and his team brought to our home.  We're extremely satisfied and fully enjoying our new kitchen and family room--including its previously 'hidden' vaulted ceilings.

I had Southwest Building Solutions build a turn-key 40x40 steel building on my property in a county island in Northern Peoria. When I called, Aaron came out the same day. They had permits within a week, and my building is up after less than 6 weeks since I called. The building is beautiful and it's very well built. Thanks to Craig, Aaron, Chad, Scott, and everyone who helped.

I only let the best and talented people to work in my home. I needed new custom cabinets added to my new home. I contacted keith to do the job. If you want a perfect job then there is only one person to call. He will be my go to guy as long as I live. He is a gentleman snd a fantastic human being. He cares 100% about all his customers. You will never find a better contractor in the state of AZ. His work came out gorgeous and as soon as I can I've been sick, I'll post all the beautiful pictures of his work. KEITH WILL NEVER overcharge his customer. Hi prices are very fair. If you don't want any headaches or worry's and great work Keith is my go to man. If you are smart make him yours also. The best of the best. Orders cabinets straight from the manufacturer and measurements were perfect. If you want everything done the right way? Keith only knows one way! THE RIGHT WAY! Don't call anyone else unless you are not using your brain and you have money to through in the garbage. Best quality work, best prices, and best human being on the face of this earth. I cannot begin to explain how disappointed I am in David Zarate and D Masonry Construction. He poured my foundation slab on my house addition and messed it up being off by about 6 inches on one side which would have caused a HUGE problem if the General Contractor that used him didn't make it right. David then promised me he knew how to pour a tennis court and that he had poured several for customers before. So I trusted him which was a BIG MISTAKE. Look at the photos I uploaded.  Don't take my word for it just look at the photos.
1) The court was not level and appropriately sloped as when General Acrylics came to flood test it before they striped it, there were puddles all over the court of water just sitting there.
2) The court surface finish was not done correctly.  It was suppose to be done in a light broom finish which he said he knew how to do that no problem.  He did not and the court was anywhere from rough to smooth all over different parts of the court.
3) He didn't suspend the wire mesh in the court right in the middle of the 4 slab like he is suppose to, to ensure no wire mesh is exposed on top of the tennis court.
4) Crooked tennis posts.  He never bothered to ensure the tennis posts sleeves were set straight.  Look at the photos.  Unreal.
-Then when I asked him to please make his mistakes right, and pay for me to get a true tennis court company to correct these items, he told me he wouldn't and claimed he didn't do anything wrong!!!!  Look at the photos!  
If I could give a 0 review, I would... unbelievable to have someone take advantage of me like that.

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!  BEWARE of this guy.  Our contractor hired him to install artificial turf in our front and back yard back in February.  He came out and did the install and we noticed the same day that a major portion of the grass in the backyard laid flat and looked defective.  We notified him immediately of the problem.  He tried to fix the problem with more infill.  Over the past 5 months he has continued to make excuses as to why he does not show up when he says he will, fill the grass with so much sand that if feels like concrete and point fingers at everyone but him.  My husband was sick of getting the run around so both him and our contractor ended up calling the manufacturer directly.  They told us that they had a replacement piece of the turf from the same die lot for us since the original install and that they were just waiting for Trond Matteson to come back and pick it up.  Since we still cannot get him to answer and he is continually blaming other people we have been dealing directly with the manufacturer who came out to look at the grass and deemed it defective.  Trond was told that since he did the install it was his responsibility to come back out to tear out and reinstall the yard.  He refuses to do it unless someone pays him for the labor.  His words exactly NO ONE CAN MAKE ME DO THE WORK.  Clearly he does not stand by his work.  He is NOT licensed, we found out that he asks to use the general contractors license who he is working for and will not do a job unless he can piggy back on someones license.  He will not warranty his work either so don't expect to hear from him once he is paid in full.  The manufacturer also confirmed that he is using the wrong sand and not enough (very inconsistent infill) and the wrong type of tape on the seams too.
Buyer beware of this guy! There are other great companies out there who stand by their work. We have had artificial turf installed in other properties we own and this was the first time we ever had an issue. I wish we would have used one of the previous companies we hired in the past.
