We started taking bids for solar earlier in 2021.  Some companies only wanted to push an expensive lease option that would have cost us more than $60000 out of pocket by the end of the lease!  Sure, they take  care of all maintenance and repairs, but when you do a little bit more research you can find that reputable companies have 25 year warranties on their products.  Luckily, I started reading about microinverters and decided that I wanted an Enphase microinverter instead of a string inverter.  From there, I searched Enphase's website for an installer in my zip code and Black Platinum showed up as a platinum level installer.  At the time, the next one listed had a gold status.  We got a quote for $38000 for 13.3kW with LG Panels and Enphase microinverters.  The payoff at the time was ten years, but recently Arizona is pushing APS to cut the off peak time from 3pm to 8pm to 4pm to 7pm and they are forcing them to stop charging people with solar for a grid connection fee.  These changes will definitely shorten our payoff time a little.

Black Platinum had us make the payments in four phases which worked out for us to help space out the large checks.  The first phase involves getting city permits, the second phase is installation, and the last phase is APS approving the install and giving you the go ahead to flip the switch and turn on the system.  We opted for no battery in our system since our solar buyback rate is locked for ten years.  After ten years, I'm anticipating battery technology to be much more superior along with the Enphase technology for being able to go off grid while still being connected to the grid in the event of a power outage.

After the install, we had a few hiccups that either we solved or Black Platinum solved:
1. One of the trees that the previous owners planted was shading my roof and blocking sun to three of my panels.  I had my landscaper trim the tree down beneath the roof line on my house.  He still needs to work with my neighbor to trim the same tree on my neighbor's side.  The three panels are probably running at about 60% right now (up from 16% when they were shaded).
2. Three panels did not have power after the system was turned on.  Two of them weren't plugged in correctly and the third needed a new microinverter.  I coordinated with David (Sales Manager) to get the repair team to my home to fix these three panels.

I love the Enphase Enlighten app for my Android phone.  It shows your energy use so you know when you are doing things during peak energy charges.  It helped us realize that if we shower between 3pm and 8pm it uses 5kW just to refill the water heater.  Now we shower outside of that window given that our APS bill is negative at the moment (it could be even more negative).

The way our system is designed we are expecting to get money back during the cooler months and we're expecting to pay some money during the four hot months in the summer.  It should balance itself out.  We are looking forward to getting the rebate next year and hope that the solar tax credit is extended to help more people get solar in the future.

During each phase of getting solar, David was in touch with me constantly via text on my phone.  I was also in touch with John Black (owner), Melia (permits), and David via email.  All of their estimates for the time frame for permits, construction, and APS were pretty spot on.  They had to cut into the wall in my daughter's room and garage to help hide the power conduits and it's very professional.  The drywall people patched it up like it never happened and we just happened to have painted my daughter's room recently as part of a kitchen remodel (using the same painters).  A few coats of left over paint and we can't even tell anything happened.  I highly recommend Black Platinum if you are considering going solar and I have given their information to a few of my neighbors who are thinking about it for themselves.

I own an old house with a checkered and questionable past. Many companies avoid the challenges of old houses and bad wiring. Rabago Electric is the exception! I knew my job would be difficult so I decided to ask the professionals who they would hire for their own houses. One name came up: Jaime Rabago!  At my house, he fixed a multitude of problems and brought me back up to code. The service was quick and professional. With his creativity and knowledge, he faced my unique electrical challenges. Mr. Rabago was able to rewire and redistribute power on an overloaded circuit. He found and eliminated a broken powerline underground. He removed a unnecessary fuse box which was misplaced along the line. He knows his stuff!  Mr. Rabago charged a fair price and did more than he promised. Do not hesitate: you will be happy with this company!

2 hour visit, charged $250 an hour, $500 for unfinished electric blind work an dimmer switch, ripped us off big time..............

I contacted Jenco after I saw some good reviews on Nextdoor.com. My daughter's bedroom ceiling fan stopped working, and I also wanted a new outlet installed. When I contacted Dave, he promptly sent me an email with a good quote, and we set a time and date for someone to come out. This morning, Nick arrived timely. He was courteous and professional, and he did a great job on both items I needed. The price Dave quoted is exactly what I paid and I think I got a really good deal on work well done. Thanks, Jenco! I have known Simon for a few years and have always referred him to anyone that I know that needed electrical work.  This time we needed him on our personal home.  I wanted the old can lights replaced with recessed lights in the kitchen and then added additional recessed lighting in the family room and formal living room..His attention to detail is awesome.  There was very little drywall damage, and what little there was he repaired and painted (we had the paint match from when we had painted the interior a few years ago).  Everything was cleaned up when he left and you really couldn't tell that he was ever there.  He has an assistant Alex who was very trustworthy and also very capable.  I would not hesitate to refer them in the future, it's hard to find good contractors in the Valley but they are one of the best.!

We had a couple damaged baseboards that needed to be repaired in a timely manner due to selling our home. Andrew responded immediately and was able to get the job done as soon as the next day. Andrew did a great job, was professional, and cleaned up after the job. I highly recommend Nichols Handyman Bros!

It's always to have the opportunity to recognize great work. Wayne was excellent to work with. He came out initially to look things over and did a great job of listening to our needs while offering good suggestions. A few days later I got a quote which contained the correct work scope and transparent pricing. On the scheduled day, Wayne and crew showed up on time and got the work done. Thanks again

We are selling our house.  Had a showing scheduled when our courtyard fountain quit running.  Called on a weekend.  Got Dallas the owner....he promised someone would come Monday.  And way earlier than even promised, James the electrician called to come by.  James was super personable and knowledgable.  Solved our problem.  Can't recommend highly enough. Life savers in pinch.

They have showed up every time, on time.  Their prices are more than fair; their work is quality, accurate and concise.  They ask questions, discover your needs and quality check their work.  We have had zero issues from their initial complete rewiring of our 1979 home, to the addition of a tankless water heater, 220 addition for an electric vehicle in the garage, addition of multiple outlets throughout the home including: garage, attic, front and back porches, multiple yard outlets and Holiday eve outlets. They wired the grill island, hard wired low voltage landscaping, replaced low voltage house lighting, and upgraded breakers in our electric panel, as well as added an additional outdoor garage light through a brick wall

This morning Tom Zeidas and a helper arrived right on time to do electrical installations in our condo. Tom Zeidas' customer service included assistance in selecting our timer switch and a referral for drywall repair. He asked our preferences for each install, explained how to use the multi-function fan remote and demonstrated while he set the porch light timer.

The amount charged matched his estimate. Before leaving, Tom verified that our new ceiling fan, kitchen track lights, timer switch and four new wall outlets worked perfectly. He also vacuumed the drywall dust from wall cutouts. My wife and I rate Zeidas Electric, LLC at 5 stars.

Had an issue where outlets died for no obvious reason.  Matt came out same day and troubleshot the issue and had us up and running.  Price very fair.  The problem was quite odd and convoluted but they figured it out! Very Please!

I've had to call dependable sparky on two different occasions, two separate issues and both times he was awesome. Get the job done and gets it done perfect. Will definitely recommend to anyone.
