So the pilot light went out on my hot water heater.
It's happened before and I was able to start it after trying a number of times.
This time I could see that there was no flash to light the burner.
Otherwise, the tank looks great and had no other problems that I know about.
I knew that this water heater could be repaired, which is why I had problems finding a plumber to fix it.
I have learned that many plumbing contractors really don't want to repair your water heater even though they advertise that they do.
I had several plumbers out to see the water heater and both told me, without even touching the water heater, that
a.   the unit was over 8 years old; and
b.   it could not be repairs; or
b.   the gas valve was broken and repairs would be between $ 500 and $ 600.
Also, I thought the unit was younger, but I never looked it up as I believed what I was told.
Bottom line, I believe many plumbers really don't want to do small jobs but would rather sell you a new unit.
Then, I call InSink Plumbers out of Carol Stream, Illinois,
owned by Sr. and Junior, the son, who came to my house.
Here's what he told me:
a.    Yes I like to make repairs to water heaters.
b.    No your hot water heater is under six years old.
c.    Yes the warranty for parts expires in November of 2018.
d.    No the gas valve is not broken.
e.    Yes the water heater looks good and could/should last for several more years; and
f.     No you don't need a new water heater because I can repair it right now.
30 minutes later he gets it started and charged me 1/4 to 1/5 the cost of a new unit.
InSink, remember that name.  Old school honest plumbers.

I wish I could give Josh and Simon Plumbing 100 stars!  We had water gushing from the upstairs bathroom into our freshly painted kitchen, through the can lights over the sink.  We assumed it was a burst pipe, since the stream was so strong and sudden.

Josh assessed the situation and discovered that some old plumber's putty had rotted away and he resealed it the proper way - problem fixed.  

In short, Josh knew what to do and did not take advantage of us.  We are so glad we were given their number from our friend.  Fantastic job!

We had an emergency service call the day after Thanksgiving and Adam came out after three other prior service calls late at night.  He was very personable and helpful, answering all our questions and educating us at the same time.  Our immediate issue is resolved but if we need further guidance, we will reach out to him again.

You will be hard pressed to find more responsive, professional or diligent plumbers in the western suburbs. They stopped by within 3 hours of my phone call, resolved the issue and were reasonably priced on top of it. Will absolutely use them again if needed.

These guys are the best plumbers in the Chicagoland area period. They show up with what they need always. Which means they dont have to come back and charge multiple times. Clean, punctual, cost effective. I wouldn't go anywhere else.

They were able to set my toilet the same day I called, which was awesome. And he did a good job, explained the problem, answered questions, executed the job quickly. The price seems high to set a toilet, but based on other reviews, I went with them since they were so convenient and I'm hoping that's the going rate. Kind of wish they wore shoe covers inside since it was rainy outside, but it is what it is.

Major downside is they had to write down my card information, and that makes me really uncomfortable. I saw this in a previous review, but I figured that if the system was just down that day, the chances I would have that issue would be low. Guess not.

They answered the phone upon the first phone call. They came out the same day. They fixed the problem the same day. They were polite, courteous and informative. Their prices were very reasonable.

These people are great. Helpful from the minute they answer the phone. They saved me $4700.00 by just doing what they do well. So honest I can't say enough good things about there work and helpfullness.
If you need a plumber these guys are the ones, i will never call anyone else for my plumbing needs.

He was responsive but was going back and forth with the numbers. We didn't have a good experience with this business. We paid for the service to show up but didn't use him for further repair. I would highly suggest to go with other plumber.

Horrible customer service.  I was in need of assistance, looking for a part for my toilet and was not assisted in a friendly manner.  I was the only woman in line and was treated in a demeaning manner, even the other men waiting for assistance laughed at the customer service rep assisting me, guess if you are a woman, in a man's plumbing world you are considered a joke.  I would never recommend this store to anyone!

Everyone I've dealt with at this company (Ann, Pat and Tommy), was friendly and incredibly helpful.

We had an issue with sewage coming back up in our laundry room on Christmas. I called the day after and they were able to get out the same day and help resolve the problem. They were even willing to help move a 60+ year old freezer that was in the way of the main stack they needed to rod out.

There was hardly no clean up that needed to be done, the pricing was very fair and Pat explained everything he did. I would definitely recommend Kennedy to anyone that has plumbing needs and will definitely use them again should anything else pop up.

I had a sewage backing up into the tub. Called Welter Plumbing, Inc, they came out first thing the next day, I didn't consider it an emergency, or feel I needed same day service. The rodded from my crawlspace and got the clog, the toilet wipes were the culprit as they expected before they started. They got it flowing strongly again and cleaned up the tub. I also had them replace a splash guard in the disposal. So I can cross plumbing issues off my list or household issues for a while.

Nice work, but VERY expensive.
My main sewer drain had clogged after 30 years of living in our home. Ralph and Alan arrived on time and quoted me a price of $385 for up to an hour of rooting and $47 per quarter hour after that. They proceeded to clean the main drain and remove roots for over 100 feet. They were polite and professional and cleaned up after themselves. They were at the house for 2 1/4 hours and charged me $645.00. After the fact, I looked up a home service cost calculator program on the internet for the work that I had done. The job cost calculator says that a 2.4 hour sewer line job in my area should cost $160.00.

Thiesse Plumbing is the real deal!  They get how to do business and do it right..  We used them last year for rodding out our basement to the street to excellent results. This after making the mistake of calling giant Roto-Rooter! If you're looking for the best no nonsense, honest, knowledgable, and customer service plumbing company- call Thiesse!  Will definitely use them again should the need occur.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! A pipe in my basement burst from the rigid winter we had. A friend of mine referred me to Bee Quick Plumbing & Sewer. I explained to the gentleman the problem and within 15 minutes the gentleman sent someone to my house. He explained and repaired the busted pipe within a matter of minutes. He was very courteous and professional!!!  My experience with Bee Quick was amazing, never expected for them to come out as quick as they did.

Do Not Hire this person!!!
We recently hired him for a small shower renovation. We paid him $4k and he never finished the job. We had 3 separate plumbers check his work and All of them said it was incorrect. We ended up paying someone else to finish the job correctly. He ghosted us and never responded to us after he took our money. HORRIBLE! Please Do Not Hire Him!!!
