Proctor Custom Builders General Contractor
We added a new room to our house, and also a couple of cinder block walls to separate the front yard from the back.  Proctor Custom Builders did both projects, and we couldn't be happier.  Everything was done exactly as we wanted and in the time frame promised, the crews were professional and thorough, communication was excellent, and cleanup was thorough.  We highly recommend them.

I got lucky finding this guy!!!!

I needed walls and floors replaced from an old roof leak.  He was also skilled to handle a hidden water leak in the laundry room.

Come to find out, George is more than just a handy man.  He's a professional contractor with lots of experience building houses.

Extremely impressive with how quick George responded to my request.  George is assertive, responsive, friendly, and knows what he is doing.  He is accommodating and helpful.   He also helped me move some items in my house.  Just an overall great and trustworthy guy.

C & H Roofing General Contractor
We have a 1953 'pyramid shaped roof' slump block ranch style home with a couple of newer 'flat roofed' additions.  We had layers of distressed shingles, some rotted fascia wood, rusted and dented venting and a huge water retaining dip in one of the additions.  C & H fixed it all with new painted galvanized fixtures and wood, be it plywood or 1x6's.  We even tested the dip using a hose on our new roof - its GONE!

Nick High (Owner) stresses quality work and products when he talks to you and it shows up in the finished product.  He checks back after the work is finished to be sure you are satisfied.  He was easily reachable to answer questions and really understands Sonoran Desert roofing.   His fair pricing, honesty, scheduling flexibility along with friendly tear off and finishing crews made the trauma of home repair almost fun.

C & H's roof crew arrived prepared on time each day, communicated well, were skilled, worked hard and cleaned up before they left EVERY day.  The new roof looks great and water no longer leaks in around our addition's roof vents either.  I highly recommend C & H Roofing if you're looking for a good local Arizona company.

AMA Construction General Contractor
We recently purchased a foreclosure property where the water heater had burst, causing damage to the stand and drywall surrounding the water heater.  The bank replaced the water heater, but refused to repair the damaged drywall and it quickly became laden with mold.

On a referral from our Realtor, we hired Wayne Glashagel (Owner of AMA Contstruction) to repair the water heater stand and surrounding drywall.  Wayne drained the water heater, disconnect the copper pipes, remove the water heater, tore out the water heater stand, sprayed Killz on the moldy areas and rebuilt the stand from the ground up.  Afterward, Wayne reconnected the water heater to the plumbing.

Wayne was very courteous and professional, arrived early for the appointment and did a fantastic job on the repair of the water heater stand.  It looked brand new and the drywall texture matched the existing texture perfectly.

I would highly recommend Wayne for any general contract work.

Fortress General Contracting, Inc General Contractor
Unfortunately this company is not reputable. They do ok work, however they could not match our existing ceiling in an addition.  We had traditional tongue and groove pine ceiling that is still used in building all the time.  They installed the new ceiling intermixed with our old ceiling and proceeded to stain the new boards with an airless sprayer after they were in our house. Not only did this leave a layer of stain everywhere that I had to scrub off and can't remove from all surfaces, it did not match the beautiful pre existing ceiling.  When we complained we were told that was the best they could do. It was so far off from our original ceiling that it was unacceptable. They offered to install the new ceiling in place of the old material but expected us to pay for all of the material and labor involved.  After going back and forth and the company owner trying to make us sound like we were the bad homeowners trying to stiff him he agreed that he would replace the old ceiling and we could just pay what we thought was fair. We honestly didn't think we should pay anything to replace the ceiling that we absolutely loved, but we did agree to pay for the materials.  When it was all said and done he charged us the full amount. We were left with a ceiling that looked nothing like our original, beautiful ceiling and a hefty bill that would remain as a lien on our home if we did not pay.  The fact that they were unable to match the ceiling should have been brought to our attention before the additional new ceiling was installed. It is just better for you to go elsewhere if you want a morally sound company that stands behind their work.

Absolutely awesome group!  Ralph and his crew are working beasts, out here putting my 10x12 shed up in 117 degrees.  I felt awful but they were simply awesome. Product totally sound, built to last for years and they performed as promised. So glad we went with them instead of Tuff and so glad to support local business!!!!

Ashco General Contractor
Ashco's owner does not stand by his work.  My elderly mother on a fixed income had them install a new roof. They installed the flashing wrong around the AC unit.  It started leaking on the interior. When I contacted him about the leaking he said it was past the two year warranty. He was notified by a couple of consumer advocate agencies with no response. His ROC status is Voluntary Cancellation. Case in point. If I could give them a zero I would. His business ethics give contractors a bad name. He could care less about the quality of his work.

Modern Group General Contractor
We were looking forward to using the Windsor window products in a reno project. If the quality and service were there we were going to give them first opportunity at the new home and shop project in the Foothills. The response to my call was good and he 'seemed' quite accommodating. When it came time to get them our cashiers cheque for the required deposit, the salesman became quite the wise ass! We've been in business ourselves for a number of years and I don't recall anyone speaking to me like that before! The cheque went right back into our account. A shame really.

Meritage Homes Corp General Contractor
OMG. These other reviews remind me of my current Meritage DISASTER and this HORRIBLE experience has just began. Regrettably, I didn't read these spot on negative reviews before now. I should have saw the red flag once I went in to the Meritage office in Jordan at Southpoint  in Durham NC when the female salesperson acted as if she could care less if I purchased a home or not. Given her disposition, my realtor and I decided to wait until the salesman named Chris returned. He wasn't set to return until 2 days later but in order to hold the home I had to hastily provide a $10K builders deposit check. I reluctantly did give the check even though I hadn't had an opportunity to speak to Chris about the items I wanted to negotiate. That action was a huge MISTAKE

My realtor and I arrived on Sunday after e-mailing my requests on Saturday. Given the fact that Meritage already had my $10,000, Chris preceded to say NO, NO, and NO to each request, most of which were small items. Supposedly, in that 24 hrs my requests had been presented to several levels up in management.  I was mostly disappointed about the NO I received about fixing the crack in the garage wall base and the crack that spans the width of the screened in patio. Instead of a discussion about getting it corrected, Chris stated spouting crack widths guidelines and numbers of what is allowable. And his excuse about why Meritage wouldn't replace the installed door with a front door with glass didn't make sense. If you are still building homes, how could a builder be stuck with an extra door, particularly since the doors are a consistent size over your various models. It suggested to me that Chris was just saying something to move on to the next NO.

What made his denial of all my request so troubling was that Meritage had raised the home price by an additional $4,000 dollars. $4,000 dollar more on the purchase price and I can't get some blinds or a ceiling fan installed? Preposterous.

Lastly, using the Meritage owned mortgage company is required to get their builder concession. In one of the first e-mails their mortgage company representative Erin sent to me, already she was talking about additional fees I would be charged if I didn't do as directed. Once Meritage has your money, you get what you get I guess.

It's a seller's market, so I am sure this review will not stop someone from buying from Meritage Builder in Durham NC (Jordan at Southpoint (1601 Capstone Drive) or the new neighborhood Meadows at Southpoint (1310 Catchfly Lane)). I just warn you that you will regret the experience with this builder, so at least be mentally ready for the negative interaction. I was unaware and unprepared to be disappointed and that hurts more.

Wendler Construction General Contractor
I hired Wendler Construction to renovate my home, he in turn hired D and J Construction to frame parts of the original house, an 800 sqft addition and garage.  They did a horrible job... they used 2x4's when the plans called for 2x6's, used wrong footings on the front wall of the house, used wrong calculations on the truss fabrication thus not allowing enough room for the hvac duct work, and had to reframe interior walls and a new skylight, which they did wrong resulting in having to purchase a custom skylight.  Wendler Construction's lack of experience, skill, and ability to manage my renovation, caused over 5 months of delays and tens of thousands of dollars in additional costs.  And then halfway thru the project, right after Christmas break, Wendler Construction quit on me.  After almost a year in construction, I am still finding mistakes made under Wendler Construction's management.  I would not recommend them.

This contractor installed French doors at my house and they now leak.  When I called the owner he told me he is kind of not in business any more. I am sure he would be in business if I would have been calling with a new job for him.
