Best Plumbing Services in San Jose, CA

We've had San Jose Drain and Main out a few times since the original review and they continue to set the bar for service excellence. They remain very knowledgeable with the skills and workmanship to match. They also remain competetive, prompt (early today), curtious, pet aware, remove shoes before entering and fix things correctly the first time. We highly recommend San Jose Drain and Main.

Clogged drain that a regular snake I had could not fix.  They brought in a powered snake.  The tech, Chris. did a great job and fixed the problem.  He also gave a tip on preventing further clogs.  While I had no issues with the tech I have to drop a star on EJ due to the costs.  Out of 3 company quotes, EJ was the most expensive.  I know you get what you pay for but 4 times more expensive than lowest bidder?  But to be fair, the 2nd place guys were 90% the cost of EJ approx.  EJ was also able to show the same day, in fact the same morning I called which was a plus.

Trieu did a great job! I called on a Saturday morning for issues with my garbage disposal. He responded quickly and gave me an appointment for later that day.  He gave me a quote over the phone which was helpful in deciding whether to make the appointment.

He showed up within the 1-hour time window he gave and was very quick with the assessment and work. I decided not to change the garbage disposal because we are planning a remodel soon. Trieu understood, fixed the immediate issue and gave me a small tool to help me with the garbage disposal in the future, in case it gave me trouble before I could do the remodel.  No extra charge and no pressure (or scare tactics) to change the disposal.

Michael is great!  He responded quickly with a quote after I sent photos of the work I needed done; relocating copper water supply lines for my bathroom remodel.  He arrived on time as scheduled.  He was masked for safety.  Entering my home, he put on fresh booties to keep the floors clean.  He worked efficiently and explained what he was going to do.  His work was top notch.  I highly recommend Michael for all your plumbing needs; sweating copper pipes is subtle skill that takes experience and Michael is a very skilled plumber.

Great communication, responsive, arrived on time, and did the job perfectly! Replaced our faucet and water lines underneath bathroom sink.

Quick response and professional service sums it up.  I had two leaks (service water valve and shower faucets) that needed repairing and called several plumbers that were rated 5 stars on Yelp...I became a bit frustrated over a couple of days with lack of response, being on vacation with no backup or going back and forth by e-mail/text with no real action.  I have read other reviews on Yelp that expressed similar frustrations so I was managing my expectations in that direction.

I called Local Rooter & Plumbing in the early afternoon (about 2 pm) and Duy picked up right away and promised someone would stop by the same day before 6 pm.  Sure enough, Kim and Thai arrived, inspected both leaks and gave a prompt estimate at no charge (one of the other highly rated Yelp plumbers wanted to charge me $125 just to give an estimate (huh? nope.)).  Kim clearly explained what needed to be done and had everything needed to repair the main service water valve the same evening and to follow up on the shower leak the next day (since plumbing store was closed).

They replaced the aging, leaking main service valve in about 1.5 hrs with an amazing array of high end tools and ingenious contraptions to do the job right.  They also recommended to add a valve feeding to the irrigation line and tapped in an additional valve for a garden hose...pretty slick.  Next day, they completed the job for the shower and everything is working perfectly.  Excellent labor warranty as well.

They were both very engaging and professional and you can see they are passionate about their work and making the customer happy.  The other tidbit is their truck was tricked out not only with some high end tools/accessories but also had a customized solar panel array that provided independent power to not only recharge all of their tools but also with inverter to operate their heavy duty snakes and other tools.  They are self-contained so no need to rely on any external power sources...they are definitely ready for a zombie apocalypse  :).

In summary, their fantastic service is what will make me a repeat customer and also motivated me to write up this detailed review.  Their insane work ethic and hours (you can see they are listed as '24 hours' under hrs of operation on Yelp) while charging a very fair price and most importantly, fixed the problems quickly are unparalleled!  Many thanks to the Local Rooter & Plumbing team as they absolutely deserve the business where others can't fulfill!

The main line to my house clogged backing up waste water that overflowed from the shower Sunday late afternoon. After trying using a manual snake and strong acid, I requested thru Yelp for an estimate for Monday service. Of the six companies that responded by late Sunday night, only 2 responded with an estimate. I went with Drain Rooter Service and they scheduled Todd to come at 9 am. Todd came early (THANKS) and did a great job. The price was the estimate and he informed that there is also a 30 day warranty. My tenant is happy with the professionalism and curtesy that Todd displayed. Todd found roots in the line so I will be calling again in the future.

I contacted handy plumbing man in the evening and was able to secure an appoint the following morning to investigate a clogged sewer line inside a rental.
They arrived on time and were courteous in their service.
I would call them again for my next plumbing emergency.

Updated Review:  I had a clogged tub and called JK.  As usual they were very responsive and came over quickly.   The tub was fixed within the hour.    This is my go to plumber now.  Always excellent service and competitive pricing.  

Updated Review:  Look no further for a plumber!  I am beyond pleased with the service of J&K Plumbing.   My water heater was leaking and they came out the same day to quote and were able to come back the next day to install a new one.  They arrived on time and we had a new water heater in an hour!   And theyhauled away the old one! I will definitely be using them for our future plumbing needs.  Thanks guys!

One day, we woke up with no hot water and flood in the garage. I called Marlon, as he helped us few months ago with the clogged pipe. I apologized, as it was early in the morning :) - he was quick, responsive, said no need to apologize and requested me to send him photos of my water heater. Water was leaking around the perimeter. He advised to turn off water for the heater until he comes. As soon as he finished his prior appointment - he came to our house, ran diagnostics (as we suspected, water heater broke) and recommended to replace the heater. We chose tankless version (thanks, Marlon, for recommending it); he and his helper Tony came the next day and took care of the installation, re-piping to outside of the house with copper pipes (we chose outside heater placement), testing everything out and - we had our hot water again! Now, with tankless heater, we never run out of hot water with our 3-bath house :) Overall, Marlon has been super-responsive, professional, honest, great in communication and walking us through the pricing and maintenance options for various heater models; he is also an optimistic and pleasant person to talk to :) I would highly recommend him and his service for any plumbing needs you may have.

Had always rescue plumbing come to unclog my girlfriends clogged sink. I snaked the drain with a 25' auger but was unable to clear the drain. I call and explained and had them come out. I was at work their first visit. The girlfriend and kids watched the crew. They left and did not fix the issue. They called and requested $250 for the there snake work that they said they did their best but I needed to replace the pipes for $1000. I paid them but when I got to my girlfriends house I noticed the drain was still clogged. I called several times and they agreed to come out to hydro jet the drain for another $400. The drain was better but clogged again the next week. I called at least 8 times and they wanted $1500 to replace the pipes. They finally agreed to come one final time to hrdrojet one more time. This time they actually clear the drain.  

Yes my drain now seems to work. But paid $650 and had to argue and have them come 3 times. They came but wanted me to pay $1500 because it was the only way to fix the problem. Turns out $250 hydro jet done right in the first place would have fixed the problem.

Steven was our savior this evening!! Our sink was backed up and flooding the garage. I put in a request on Yelp, and he contacted me right away. Showed up within 15 minutes and got right to work. Fixed the problem in less than 20 minutes. He was clean, used all covid protocols, and even removed his shoes before coming into our house. I had a sewer backup from shower/bathtub and called them. They came on time and the work (power snake from roof) was really smooth and great. Cost was also reasonable. I would recommend as they are #1!

They were fast to respond and sent a technician right away, which is highly appreciated when dealing with water related disasters

ED was super nice guy and professional I did hire him for the replacement of a toilet I did collect three more quotes but the lowest with same day installation just got from Safety Plumbing that really works safe and safe the life of our plumbing equipment. I did really appreciate there clean work and honesty . I recommend to all.

These guys are awesome! I found them to be responsive and courteous. They helped in the removal and exchange of a defective water heater for a new one, and transported it to and from Home Depot. Their estimate seemed reasonable, although in full disclosure, I did not obtain quotes from anyone else. I didn't feel I needed to because of their professionalism. I would definitely use their services again and recommend them to anyone in need of a plumber.

Made an appointment and was given a time slot of 3-5pm. Rushed him from work to get there by 3. At about 5:10  no show and no call. I called and then he found my name and said it had gotten lost in his books. The only good thing was he came straight over then. We had a leaky toilet. My husband thought he could probably fix it but doesn't really have time to mess around with stuff like that during the week and we were going to have a guest. The plumber showed me the part that was the problem and said he could order it, and that if we tried to get it at Home Depot they wouldn't have the right fit. He said the part would be about $60 and labor something like $150. He then basically tried to tell me I should just get a whole new toilet from them. When my husband came home I showed him the part, and he ended up ordering it online and fixing it himself... for a whopping $16! So glad we avoided being ripped off. Luckily there was no charge for the visit. I don't know if that's the norm or because of screwing up the appointment.
