Best Plumbing Services in Illinois

Usually Yelp doesn't steer me wrong but I guess my luck has finally ran out. I really didn't get anywhere near five star service and value from this plumber's visit. I had an issue with my bathtub being backed up. First they told me they would be at my place after 1pm and then they came 2 hours earlier. Normally thats fine but there was no warning they just showed up at the door unexpectedly. No call or anything.

They proceeded to use a rooter to unclog the plumbing. They arrived at 11:10AM and left by 11:35AM, total time=25 minutes. Now how much would a good plumber charge for something that involved a total of 25 minutes of labor? $100? Maybe $150? How about $255! Yes he wanted over 500 dollars an hour to stick a rooter down a drain. No materials mind you, just labor. Of course I brought that up with him and he gave me the that's what we charge line. What would you like to pay? I replied $150 and he actually barked back Hell no! I'm not coming out on a Saturday for $150! Of course he never mentioned that his rates go up for supposedly coming out on a Saturday until that point. So after a little terse back and forth he let me go with $200. Still way too much in my opinion for the work, professionalism (or lack there of) but at least not quite as obscene.

He didn't even put the stuff back that he took out from under the sink, which for over 400 bucks an hour you'd think he might do. He even had a helper. But I guess that was just too much help. Maybe I should be happy, at over 8 bucks a minute that few minutes of cleaning up could've really added up. Now I get to go upstairs and clean up the mess, fun.  

Maybe I got him on his bad day, I really don't know. He did root the line and the clog seems to be gone. The bath is draining. Still not quite as well as I'd like but decently. He did also mention not to use Drano on these old pipes since it is an acid, unless they have been changed. Well, did he check the pipes? Obviously not since they had been changed years ago to all copper in the house.

He also didn't ask many questions. He didn't seem to care if this might be part of a larger plumbing issue or if there were other factors that might be in play. He seemed to come to root the plumbing, get paid and get out.

Now mind you that I don't often give out such bad reviews. I think this is the second one star review I've ever given out. I would probably had given him two stars but his hell no response kind of negated that. Plus, on the receipt he did not check mark any of the boxes that guarantees his work for at least 30 days. Good to know if I have problems again tomorrow that he will expect at least another 200 bucks. In this little whirl wind of an event he did mention that he was getting too old for this. I guess that's one thing we can both agree on.

Mac was awesome!  My water heater started leaking on a Saturday night, and I immediately started searching for someone to come out the next day, since I had a 9 month old child and needed hot water.

I reached out to Mac after searching through Yelp and seeing great reviews.  He asked that I send him pictures of the old water heater, where it was leaking, and a few different other pictures near the water heater.  He was at our house the next day (Sunday at 10am) and ready to install the new water heater.

Super friendly, explained the whole situation, what needed to be done, and advice for future maintenance/issues.  He was able to install everything and take the old water heater all within less than 2 hours and that even required doing some work on the piping.  I would definitely recommend Mac for any future jobs.

Had a pipe leak and the team at Rescue was able to make the repair within 24hrs of my call. Logan and his partner were very professional, taking the time to explain the issue and the needed repair. Would definitely use them again.

I had a variety of plumbing issues on a condo I purchased. Scott was great, he was quickly able to diagnose the problems. After he knew what components were needed, he quickly ran to the local hardware store, came back with what he needed. He was thorough in addressing the problems and didn't leave until he was satisfied things were working properly. I highly recommend him, and will absolutely use him for any future issues.

My kitchen sink has been clogged and Brain and his guy did jettings to clean the kitchen drain. They cleaned out 2 buckets of stuff. Now it works great. Thanks for their service.

I set up an appointment with them and they never showed up or called. When I called them 2 hours later asking if they were still coming, they said that the plumber got caught up in another project and wouldn't be able to come until the next day. I had taken the day off work for this appointment and was very disappointed in their disrespect of my time.

Came across Windy City Plumbing while searching for services online. Because of the great on-line reviews, I completed a work request and received immediate reply from Jose seeking service location and time. Upon receiving our location Jose politely informed me that we were outside of their  service area. I expressed my disappointment as we have been seeking reputable plumbing  service for quite some time and were encouraged by WCP's great reviews. Thankfully Jose came to the rescue of a damsel in distress (in the far south suburbs) and agreed to go out of his way and make a special trip to our house to give advice on our plumbing issues.
Since we live in a remote area, they realized they were going to be about 15 minutes late and called 30 minutes ahead to say they were running about 15 minutes late. After Jose and his assistant arrived, they promptly proceeded to investigate our plumbing issues and explained it to my inept but very lovable husband so that even he could understand. Jose assured my husband that he could DIY and fix the problem and to take pictures and send it and he (Jose) would consult and walk my husband thru the process.....at no charge!!!
Well things worked out wonderfully. The plumbing problem is now solved. WCP did not charge us for coming out of their service area. My husband did forcefully pay them for their time and gas for visiting out of their service area and their invaluable consulting services.  I would highly recommend WCP for anyone seeking a  professional plumbing service. Two thumbs up!!

If I you could do partial stars I would give them like 4.25/5.  Great work, good communication, very accommodating, very pleasant to work with.  Mine was a huge project that cost $26k.  Moving plumbing, adding plumbing, installing a smart multi outlet shower, tankless water heaters etc.  Very responsive when there's an issue.  Would highly recommend for either small or large projects.

Sound Plumbing did a great job fixing my leaking and broken toilet. True professionals through and through, they explained every portion of the repair as they went through it and then told me how I can maintain quality of my pipes after they left. Excellent A+ service.

They arrived as promised for a simple drain clean out and quoted a flat fee of $500.  We showed them the door they came in.  What a rip off.

Called Green Tech late in the day after getting stood up by another plumbing company for a clogged main line.  Zach arrived on time the next morning and was very hardworking, courteous and professional.  Our backyard cleanout plug was too far from the clog so he had to go back to the shop to get more cable but didn't charge for the time going back and forth.  Job was completed quickly but thoroughly, and billing was transparent and reasonable.    Will go back and do business again for preventive maintenance down the line.  Thank you

Updated 12/30 - once again these guys came through. Called and they came out same day. Joe and William were phenomenal and found the problem fast, but took there time to talk through the solution and fix the issue. Very nice and courteous to our home. Really appreciate their help and service.

We needed an outlet installed for our oven. Darrell responded to my call and came out to take a look at what needed to be done the same day. The following day Dino and Eli came out and installed the outlet for us. Everyone was so friendly and informative of what they were doing. Everything was done quickly and with care.

I can't say enough about the service I received from ABV!  My hot water heater went out - other plumbers were giving me dates a week or more away!  Not sure how we would have showered - it's 10° outside and I think our water was even colder!  Talked with them last night and they were out here by 8:30am!  Did great work and I am looking forward to a nice hot shower

I highly recommend Mike! He came out yesterday to assess and fix a leaky pipe and he was honest and kind and straightforward. He did the work the same day and charged a fair price and worked efficiently. We will definitely be a customer of his in the future!

I found Noel on Yelp a while back for a clog and now he has done 4 projects for me - including a burst pipe emergency in January and he was right here to get it taken care of!  He is the always informative, walking through the current problem as well as what we need to consider down the road for preventative measures (if necessary).  The best thing I can say about a person is that they know their stuff, and Noel does!  Yesterday, we thought we had a problem, Noel came over right over today to  check; ended up  it was user error - kind of a funny mistake on our side ; but he made no judgement and walked me through what needed to be done. He is very focused when working - to get the job done as thoroughly yet as quickly as possible.  He is the cleanest plumber too, very attentive on keeping his work area clean as he works and the area always looks as good (maybe even better!?) as when he started.  Noels work ethic is excellent, professional and as I said before, he knows his stuff!!  One thing I have learned is that anything with water/plumbing needs to be done right the first time and without shortcuts;  with Five Plumbing, you won't need to worry.
