Best Electricians in Illinois

I recently used AC/DC Electrical twice in the last couple of weeks for some routine electrical work (outlets not working, switches, etc.).  Stefan promptly returned my call for a service request and we were able to get something on the calendars quickly. The day of the scheduled work, he was on-time, on budget, and my tenants said his work was well done and fast. I would highly recommend AC/DC for your electrical needs!

Just Amazing, I forgot one name but Anel and his boss were simply amazing! they came in were quick, professional and got the job done! Couldn't have asked for more especially with other companies I had encountered already.

Rodrigo at T&D Electrical was a total pro, and I will happily hire him again. Yesterday my HVAC contractor was on-site to install my new AC compressor, and they realized while they were there that the wiring they had wasn't long enough to reach from the electrical box on the side of the house to the compressor (there are several feet of deck under which the wiring had to stretch), so an electrician needed to custom-build conduit and wiring to stretch from the box to the compressor. I first called a previous electrician I had used on a separate job, but they were unavailable for the next several days, and I really wanted someone to come out and do the wiring work as soon as possible. I called T&D because they already had stellar reviews on both Angie's List and Yelp. I can't remember the person's name in the office I spoke to, but she was incredibly friendly and supportive. I gave her all my info and an explanation of the work needed to be done and sheepishly asked if someone could come out that same day. I braced myself for her to say the equivalent of Are you kidding me? No, we can't come out today. Are you crazy? However, she pleasantly put me on hold, and a few minutes later came back on the line to tell me one of her guys, Rodrigo, had a cancellation and would be at my house in about 90 minutes. I couldn't believe it. Rodrigo arrived ten minutes early, and was very friendly and careful in the house. I showed him to the area where the work was to be done, and with very little explanation from me, he knew exactly what he needed to do and was off to work. He built/constructed custom curved conduit for the three wires to run from the side of the electrical box up to the floor joists of my deck and back down to the power on the compressor. The conduit it securely fastened to the deck joists, and it looks perfect. The whole project took around an hour, and he was gone almost as quickly as he arrived. He and I settled up, he swiped my credit card, and left an invoice/receipt (which I appreciated...the previous electrician I used on a separate job did not ever send me a receipt, even after multiple inquiries). Lastly, the price was amazing!

Ted is absolutely fantastic!! Got back to me same day, arrived when he said he would (same day), Completed 3 different small jobs within an hour, offered me tips/advice
for safety and efficiency, and was very reasonably priced.
This guy is the real deal, extremely knowledgeable,  friendly and fast.  Ted makes me wish I had more electrical work that needed repair. Lol

I sent a message for a quote to assess an area for possible damage and Joe responded quickly quoting a price for a service call and also offering to provide what info he could if I sent some pictures over email. He responded the next day and a service call didn't end up being needed which saved me both time and money.  That kind of integrity is very appreciated.  I'll definitely use Wirenuts Electrical for future needs/projects.

Chris is very responsive, honest and good at what he does. He is the person to call for quick and easy fixes - he says he specializes in service calls (installing light fixtures, troubleshooting things around your house). Definitely give him a call, he'll take care of your project quickly and professionally.

I've had these guys do work for me several times in a rental property. They always do great work and have very fair prices. They handle simple and complicated electrical problems very well.

Steer Clear. This is not a legitimate electrical company. Gave me an estimate and did the electrical work for an EV charger in our condo building. Even though building management didn't request City of Chicago license initially, they checked for it later (it can be asked for at any time) and this company is not licensed in the City of Chicago and its illegal to do residential work without it. The job was done completely wrong and he almost blew the sump pump and electrical to entire building by connecting to a panel inexplicably and was told not to. Installed wiring that was bent and broken and taped together which could have caused shocks and burning. New contractor easily installed it - no bends or breaks. The wall outlet installed was open and exposed, and if water dripped to it could electrocute people. Sloppy, cut corners, dangerous, illegal and not up to code. Absolute garbage, rushed work. Refused to get City of Chicago license and come fix job. We will be pursuing our money back. This is an illegitimate electrical company. Avoid at all costs.

Addendum to review:

Right, I'm not an electrician , but here are couple facts that a real electrician should have known and done, that found out about your job.

You were told by the building engineer to use the 480/277 volt panel because 208/120 was already at the capacity.

You just plainly ignored that and proceeded with your version. Maybe you don't know the difference between two.

You ran 208/ 120 wires through 480/277 panel which was a huge code violation and a human life safety issue.

And that's not all:

Then you spliced those wires inside that panel multiple times -- code violation.

You then decided to use lightning contractor conduit to run the wires and overfill that conduit -- code violation.

You installed the breaker at the wrong panel (which was at capacity) so you overloaded that panel.

The wire was badly scraped

You removed pipe straps and made the electrical conduit loose -- code violation.

J boxes that you installed were unsecured and loose with knock outs missing -- code violation

I'm still waiting on the city of Chicago electrical registration paperwork  from you.

A qualified electrician would know right away that he is working with 480/277 volts and would have informed me that i needed a step down transformer in order for the EV charger to work!

On top things you have charged me over $2K for 2 J boxes and a roll of #6 wire, which costs $600 at the most. The piping was already 97% there , so what took you so long.

It took a qualified electrician a total of 8 hours to remove the faulty work and install everything from scratch including installing the transformer.

We'll happily accept a refund to settle this matter

I wanted to give a big thanks to Jose and Rodney for the fantastic job they did in our home! We had an entire room needing new recessed lighting where there was none before. They got the job done in a timely fashion and the result is beautiful. We also had sconces put in a wall which never had fixtures there before. Several other electricians quoted a similar price as Tweaks and Finishes, but would not do the patch and paint work for the damages done in the process; they said I would have to hire someone else to patch the holes in the wall! Jose and Rodney did it all, from installation, to patching and painting, from start to finish. No one else that I spoke to offered this complete service! These guys are a great team and are great at what they do.

I highly recommend Tweaks and Finishes for any job, big or small, and will be happy to work with them in the future!

Had an awesome experience with Jake. I got into some trouble trying to swap out a light fixture and created a bit of a wiring mess for myself that he was able to skillfully clean up. He was able to go pop out and buy a replacement light fixture that would fit my junction box and install that too. While he was at my house he added a plug to a closet that we had been wanting installed since we moved in. Super efficient work, very pleasant interactions, reasonable pricing- I will definitely be calling Jake up again for future work.

Neville and his team did a great job repairing an issue we had at our condo in Lakeview.  We first reached out over yelp to describe our project, and were able to set up an appointment for the next day.  Pricing structure was fair and well communicated, and payment was easy through Venmo.

Overall, we are very satisfied with the work we had done.  Blacklite did a great job and we would highly recommend them to anyone looking to have electrical work done.

Ted and his crew have been doing work on our Oak Park bungalow for a number of years. He's honest, reliable, fair, and accepts your problems as his own. I had Ted rewire a bunch of antique light fixtures for our basement. He not only got everything working, but helped figure out the best way to install to maximize functionality and beauty. He swapped out electrical fans. Installed sensor lights outside. Upgraded our amp panel. Generally, I trust that if I present Ted with a problem, he'll solve it and solve it at a reasonable rate.

Could not recommend a better electrician!

I had a desire to install ceiling recessed lights and ceiling fans in a few rooms for some time. After doing some research on Yelp, I found Tom and gave him a call. We were able to set up a in-person consultation soon after, where he walked me through the options for recessed LED lights (4in vs 6in) and spacing of said lights. We agreed on an overall plan and start date.

During the project, Tom and his men were timely, clean, and very efficient in their work. They carefully calculated and marked out the placement of the lights and fan on the ceiling in each room for my approval before starting to cut into the drywall. In the end, they had to cut into a surprisingly small amount of the drywall to put everything together. In the two places in each room that they did have to open up the wall, they carefully replaced the drywall, saving me from having to make any large patches before repainting.

I wanted to use a particular smart dimming switch (Brilliant), but it was backordered and did not arrive in time. Tom hooked up everything using temporary switches and came back later to finish the job once they arrived.

Overall, I would definitely use Tom and his men again! I have a couple other projects around the house I've been thinking of (electric car charger, exterior light, replacing track lighting with more recessed lights, etc.) and plan to use Tom for these projects in the future!

Wonderful communication and service from Frank and his father. We couldn't be happier with the installation of our lights, switches, and other necessary repairs. Would highly recommend them for your future home needs.

Alex did a great job replacing a broken switch. He responded quickly to my initial request and was fast in communicating throughout the scheduling process. We are very happy with the quality of work.
We'll likely have to have most of our old wiring replaced and are looking forward to have Alex and his team back. Seems to be a newer company, and I'm glad we took a chance on them.

I had a really great experience with Fixer - they are an awesome company. Basically they've incorporated the best of mobile booking service with the best of handyman/repair service.

I had a drywall repair and they showed up right on time. Due to the situation specific to my drywall I had two work sessions. Both time, the fixer that came was really professional, knowledgeable and courteous. The first time, D'Angelo came and worked for an hour. The second time, Ian came and spent about two hours finishing up the job.  They did great work and cleaned up after themselves. I highly recommend them.

The nice thing about their mobile solution is that you can go online and book a specific time that you want. After you submit the booking, you get a text message and you can text back and forth with their main office about your project. They confirm everything with you. Then the night before your appointment at 8:00pm sharp, you receive an automated text with the name of the professional that will be showing up to your job.

If anything arises, you just text back and forth with the main office. This excellent communication channel made everything so much easier.

And after your job is finished, you get a text with a link to review and pay your bill (and add a tip if you like). Completely mobile. Just the way I like it.
