Windy City Plumbing is a full service plumbing company. We specialize in flood control and sewer repairs. ABOUT BUSINESS OWNER

My name is Jose Rivera I started doing plumbing when I was just 15 years old. I worked for a plumber until I was 19 years old. I worked in an office environment for two years then I got into the plumbers union. During my school years as an apprentice I did very well I even did the plumbers union commercial when I was in my fifth year as an apprentice. After finishing school I worked as a plumber in many applications. To name a few I worked on the chemical labs at iit university. Also worked at the university of Chicago comer hospital. The biggest building ever built was a 37 story Marriott in Chicago. I've also worked on several mid rises and the hilton on 63rd near midway. I'm currently 35 and have been doing plumbing for just over 17 years. I'm happily married with two children. Thanks for reading

I highly recommend Windy City Plumbing. 10/10! A+. 5 stars!  I have never once been disappointed in their service over the past 10+ years. I've used them from everything from fixing the toilet, installing sinks and facets, connecting washer/dryer, and most recently installing water-heater tank. From odds and ends to large projects, I have been fully satisfied with Windy City Plumbing.

Jose and his crew are always cordial, professional, and smart.  Jose gives great guidance that makes it easy to decide on what needs done in my home.  He uses easy language that I am able to understand the problem and options for solutions. He also spots things that might not be up to code (such as my new furnace wasn't hooked up properly), which I am grateful for. I feel confident in their work. Additionally, they are always on time (within the time range that was given to me) - amazing.  I have never been disappointed in their service and their work.

I am glad that Jose and his team are being extra safe during covid. Due to compromised immune system in the household, it is important for guests/workers visiting to wear masks. They did so without complaining and that made me feel secure.

On top of this, his office staff (Myra in particular) is so friendly and efficient.  I appreciate the text communication to arrange appointments and finalize details.  They always seem time to squeeze me in if it is an urgent need.  I feel valued as a customer.

I always lean to my friends and neighbors for recommendations and them to me. It is with pleasure that I share that I use Windy. City Plumbing for all my plumbing needs. Wanted to take a moment to share with the public as I am a huge fan  (in case you haven't noticed).

Joseph is AWESOME. When you call, he answers in person instead of deferring to an answering service. I had an emergency and he was at my house within 2 hours. He does great work at a VERY REASONABLE PRICE. He was in and out in less than 2 hours and that included a trip to Home Depot for parts. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Chris and Sam came out to fix a leaky faucet that I thought I had already fixed but then I discovered water dripping from the ceiling. They explained what they would do and the worst case scenario and then got to work. Within a couple minutes they called me back into the bathroom and told me I just hadn't tightened the stem enough! They stayed for a few ore minutes to confirm that there wasn't any leaking and then cleaned up and left. All within about 10 minutes. When I asked how to pay for their time they said they wouldn't think of charging me for it - it's the holidays they said! Such nice gentlemen!

I wished I had known about Windy City Plumbing when my gas was turned off due to a leak.  However, it took a few days before I found them on Yelp.  Robert and Chris were sent over to evaluate the issue and they were both amazing.  They knew exactly what was needed and fixed the problem.  
Gas was turned back on that same day thanks to them.  
They both were extremely professional, knowledgeable and took the time to answer all my questions.  I would definitely be using Windy City Plumbing in the future.  Shout out to them both and Windy City Plumbing!!!

Mom had some major issues with her plumbing this past week that just could not be fixed up with chewing gum and spit!

Mom contacted Windy city plumbing out of Berwyn. They replied promptly and sent out two guys, they gave her an honest estimate on what they thought the problem was and had someone out at the house that same afternoon. Moms 'sewage pipes' in the basement were most likely busted and blocked.

The cement was broken up around the pipes and sure enough the 100 year old pipes were busted and the sewage was just sinking into the ground, also whatever was going in the pipes was not going far as they were almost completely blocked. Blocked with years of flushable wipes and tree roots. Mom has not used flusable wipes in about about 4 years. These poor guys had to rod the pipes for hours and hours just to barely break through. They also found another area where pipes had to be replaced, that meant the cement floor had to be broke up again.

These guys were amazing, explaining everything to my mom, showing her what they could so she knew exactly what was going on. They were all very curtious and respectful. Mayra in the office was amazing as well. All around top company. Mom felt for the hours worked and the 'sewage' they had to deal with the full price for 3 days of work she got a good deal.

She also got a discount for mentioning YELP, where we found them! Highly recommended!

I will revise my review, as I spoke to jose initially he informed me that the price would 800 to 1000 for a tub install if all of the existing was removed.

then he sent me an estimate for 1450.00 Im not deaf but boy do I feel dumb thinking there was an honest plumbing contractor here.

We have used Windy City a plumbing before for a drain issue, and have hired them to do another job for us. They are by far the most responsive plumber I have found on Yelp and so their very best to answer questions before a job promptly and professionally. In addition, their quotes are always reasonable.

Had pipes burst at 1AM on Friday morning.  *PSA1* know where your main water shut off is!!  After 30 minutes of panic-stricken searching I was able to get the water to turn off.  Msg'ed Windy City Plumbing on Yelp and heard back shortly after 8AM.  Scheduled for an appointment the next day (SAT) between 12-1.  Received a phone call at 12:15 that they had arrived.  Took just over an hour to find TWO of these bursted pipes.  

*PSA 2* consider getting an outdoor heater for your garage.

$275 for first break and $175 for any additional breaks.  Workers (Chris and Isaiah) were friendly, prompt, professional, and great to work with.  I received a call within half an hour for payment by CC.  Receipt via email in seconds.  Entire process took less than two hours.  I highly recommend this company!

Windy City Plumbing did a great job for us. Their estimate was far below what another company gave us. They were all super polite and honest. They came in below the estimate which is always nice. Jose ended up not needing to do part of the job he thought he did. I would happily recommend.

Quoted me nearly $4K to install a cleanout for clogged pipes and told me that it was the only option. Got another opinion who said they could clear the pipes through a catch basin and it was almost a quarter of the price. The other plumber also said literally any plumber should've known about the catch basin.

Don't let these scammers tell you that you need a cleanout installed.

Had a clogged sewer line and hired WCP to address the issue. The company stated there was a blockage and would camera, find the blockage, repair and replace as needed and add a clean out. The camera work was never performed so we ended up with a giant hole in the front of our home for six months because they assumed the line went out the front. Well, it didn't. So ended up with a second massive hole in our back yard which also took out part of a wall when we were told it was our walkway that would be dug up to access the pipe. This company did not follow their own contract, and when issues were brought up we found them sneaking onto the property to perform work said to be completed. They destroyed more than they repaired. It took threatening legal action to get the hole and landscaping taken care of. Might be ok for small jobs but I can not recommend them at all.

We can't say enough about how much we love Windy City Plumbing! We moved to Oak Park a year and half ago with grand dreams for our grand 1903 home. Within the first month, the home ownership dreams turned into soul crushing, bank hemorrhaging, repair bills - ohhhhh Oak Park homes. Plumbing updates (you know the stuff no one sees, or cares about, that aren't nearly as gratifying as buying furniture) is where all of our money needed to go.

As all new OP home owners seem to do, I reached out to the block email list, the OP Facebook groups and Yelp to seek counsel. I got three quotes for our first issue (2nd floor bath leaking down to first floor upon draining) - one came back with $1k quote, one said he'd need to rip up the wall to investigate and likely order a long lead-time part which would probably be ~$2k, then Windy City arrived and the clouds parted. They said we didn't need anything other than a quick tighten of a hard-to -reach-bolt, which he did in approximately 30 seconds. I knew at that moment Windy City and I were about to embark on a long relationship together.

Since that day we have have numerous visits from Jose and his team. Projects ranging from a small sink pressure issue to a giant sewer flood control project. Projects big or small, Windy City has been helpful, informative, reasonably priced AND responsive.

When we got the estimate for a floor control system (i.e. fixing broken pipes then adding a pump so when the Oak Park sewers back up from heavy rain, literal sewer crap doesn't come back INTO our house), I got sticker shock and my faith in my Windy City relationship wavered. I sought another two estimates and found Windy City, yet again, to be the most reasonable and honest plumber around.

Each time I see Jose and his team I still bitch and moan that I am seeing them because I know it's going to set-back my furniture purchases again, but I'm so very glad I have them in my court as we start rebuilding my grand old home dreams together.

These guys are great! Super responsive and just all around nice, honest dudes.  

I removed a wall hanging toilet tank to repair the surrounding wall during a remodel and when I went to put it back up I busted off the rusty old fill valve and could not figure out how to repair it. Why? Because the original toilet is 90 years old. Why not just replace it with a new, efficient model? Well, it's in a tiny powder room where a newer model would be too large... those few extra inches matter!

That's where Windy City Plumbing comes in. Turns out they had to saw off the rusted old parts to get it off and back up. They also found the exact pieces needed to fix all other parts of the tank and re-installed it to original working order which was music to my ears.

We later called to have the team look into gurgling we could not clear in our kitchen drain pipes. They came out and cleared the pipes within minutes and showed us how/where to do this in the future. Gotta love old houses... and honest, responsive plumbers!

Jose is a fantastic plumber, and to top it off his prices are very reasonable and he and his entire crew has fantastic customer service!! He's a man of his word, and he keeps his promises.

We live in a 100+ year old building, and after retiling one of our showers, our drain got badly clogged and no DIY fixes resolved the issue. To make matters worse, we reached out to several plumbers and none of them had seen an overflow attachment like the one our our bathtub. We started with hiring a different plumber (A Solution Plumbing) and they attempted to shoot some air through the drain to see if that would help but this caused a variety of other leaks which led to water dripping into our downstairs neighbors' condo and the basement! Because of this leak, they told us we would have to cut into the wall and neighbors' ceiling to replace our drain and overflow attachments. They quoted us at massive $1,500 for the repair, so I began to shop around and get quotes from other plumbers.

After getting several other quotes, we decided to go with Jose because he offered the best deal and had the best reviews. With very prompt responses (via both email and Yelp messages) he said the cost would start at $650 and a maximum of $950, and fit us in within a couple days. On the first day, he unfortunately wasn't able to begin the repair because our tub was so old, he had to put in a special order for the appropriately sized drain parts. He was very apologetic that he hadn't notice in the photos we sent, but he did everything he could do to rush the parts at no cost to us and rescheduled on another day.

When Jose had all the proper parts for the repair, he spent 8+ hours working on the repair with his team on the first day. However, because of the age of our building and plumbing, he encountered a number of non-standard challenges which required more time. Despite this, Jose still came back another day to complete the repair and still only charged us $950 despite how long our unusual repair required. In the end, he did a fantastic job fixing our drain and kept his word!!

I highly recommend hiring Windy City Plumbing for all of your plumbing needs and I'll certainly be turning to him for mine as well.

Being a new homeowner, it can be difficult to trust contractors to not take advantage of my limited knowledge, however, Windy City was kind and patient with me when going through the process of getting some pipe work done in my home. They never figured out my problem after 3-4 trips? Do right rooter figured out the valve was bad from the factory in about 10 or so minutes. So yeah I got that going for me which is nice. So I will not be calling Windy City plumbing anymore they couldn't fix my problem so I suggest calling someone who can!

I highly recommend Windy City Plumbing! I got in touch with them through the yelp app and they answered almost immediately. We setup a time and I gave them all my information. I had a plugged drain in my kitchen. Unfortunately I had to leave on a weekend trip and they came by while my wife was home. They called her the moment they knew they were heading over to let her know they were close by. She says they came in and made her feel very comfortable about what they needed to do and gave her a price before they started working. Even though my drain took some effort they got it working as good as new.

Chris and Sam stuck with a tough job of gaining access to rod out my sewer line through the catch basin in a 100 year old Oak Park house.  They tried two or three solutions before nailing it and running 60' of line to the street. (The lip to the sewer pipe is broken; it's 8 feet down inside a 2 foot hole; the geometry makes it very tricky to get the cutting blade in the line...)  I think I've had other companies give up and fake it, but I watched the Windy City team do it right. Thanks!

Will echo all the other Yelpers here. WCP has been great. We're a condo association housed in a vintage building. So, there are issues with pipes. WCP and Jose have been great in helping with our plumbing needs. Responsive and fair pricing. Jose explains what needs to be done in layman's terms. He's thorough and professional. All around excellent experience.

While managing several properties in Chicago, I've experienced my fair share of broken commitments and frustrating customer service.  

Windy CIty was a refreshing change:

1) The quote was significantly lower than that given by other plumbers for the same work
2) Actually arrived within the 1 hour window scheduled on two occasions
3) Chris and team were able to coordinate two separate jobs concurrently (one in my unit and one for the building) with no micromanagement needed
4) When the required replacement part was not easily identifiable, Chris removed the part, took it to his supplier for identification, and returned within an hour to ensure that the water didn't remain shut off
5) Mayra who schedules work is extremely responsive, going as far as to respond to emails on the weekend within 30 minutes
6) All transactions, including quotes and receipts, are handled electronically by email

Reliable, professional, and hassle free.  Would highly recommend.

Last year they replaced all the plumbing in our Berwyn home. They did an incredible job and provided excellent customer service through the whole process.  
With the additional replacement of our hot water heater and the bathroom remodel, the improved water pressure is outstanding and our gas bill is down.  I would recommend without reservation!

Had Jose come out seemed very knowledgeable and kind but felt that we took a look around to fast to fully understand the hole situation came out on Friday didn't get estimates until end of day Monday which I could live with just felt like forever so I sent a message through yelp asking if I could speak to Jose again to go over the plumbing again so I can understand a little bit better they sent a message saying they will set a call up but then never followed up with me i called a few days later got transfered 4 times each time asking what I needed and for my  information again then finally they transferred me to Joses number and it was unavailable lol ahh OK

I have two properties in the city, one a rental, one our home and both are OLD.   I have had Jose and his team out for things like opening drains, to doing pretty extensive rebuilds of 80 year old clay pipe.  Their prices are good, and they do what they say are going to do without any hassle.  I've had some very bad experiences with other contractors, but these are good solid guys that work hard and give you a fair deal.  I can't give much better praise than that.

Windy City Plumbing is the only company I use. Jose and his crew have done nothing but go above and beyond for me. I've had them rod out my sewer line several times, they always come the day I call, their prices are beyond reasonable, and the crew is nothing but respectful and polite. I recommend them to all of my neighbors and friends in the area.

I had to add this. A coworker and I were talking about who we use for work around our homes and got into an argument over who the best plumbers were. Turns out we both use Windy City. There's no one better around. They're reliable and go out of their way to follow up and make sure you get the best service.

Windy City Plumbing just left our home and they'll definitely be our first call any time we need plumbing help in the future.  The came to the house the same day we called, and arrived on the the early side of the one hour time window.
They were courteous and careful about keeping everything clean, and they talked through everything they were doing as they did it.  The work ended up being simpler than we expected; they were thorough, but quick.  They also shared useful tips about protecting our pipes in the future as well!  :)

I could not recommend Chris and Windy City Plumbing enough! After some mandatory construction in my building to replace the internal plumbing, the contractors who were supposed to restore my kitchen clogged the faucet, dishwasher, and broke several washers, causing a series of leaks. I had no water and was unable to use my kitchen for about 5 weeks, from start to finish. Chris was able to fix everything in a matter of hours, giving me access to water in my kitchen again and saving me from having to buy a new Grohe faucet ($500+) and Frigidaire dishwasher ($300+) to replace the hardware that was in my unit when I moved in.

First of all, I've had a leaky shower for a while and my building management is a high-rise in downtown Chicago with a strict license agreement for outside contractors. I messaged Jose who promptly responded by asking about the work that needed to be done, pictures, etc. When I mentioned my building's requirement of having a license and insurance documents with them, he readily sent them over.

He had sent Chris to do the job, who not only was eager, ready, and completed the job in minutes, but chatted about various DIY things to do in my bathroom. He was extremely friendly, professional, and honest. You can tell that this company does their work with human-to-human trust and integrity.

Not to mention they were incredibly reasonable and reliable. They gave me an it will cost you at most... quote which was super helpful considering I was ready to pay an arm and a leg.

Honestly, I would give them 6 stars if I could, and would happily recommend their company to anyone who needs plumbing work done. They're wonderful.

I loved my experience with Windy City Plumbing. I asked for an online quote and got a reply right away. Jose accommodated my schedule and arrived on time.  I had a problem with my tub draining very slow and all the diy were not working.   Jose and Julio arrived and started work right away.  Not only did they fix my drain,  but they also gave me info about my house plumbing, fixed my slow flush toilet and answered questions that I had (new toilet in basement, which drain leads to what, etc.)  I would highly recommend their services to anyone looking.  I loved the price too! I was expecting an arm and a leg price since I have never dealt with plumbing before but I was very happy.

We've had Windy City Plumbing come to our place maybe 3-4 times now to fix problems or install items. Every time has been a positive experience. When we had some minor problems that were actually pretty easy to fix they still took the time to explain the reason and give advice of how to prevent it in the future. Very helpful!

We have had gentlemen from this company out several times. Most recently for a second opinion on some major sewer work another company stated we needed and to replace a toilet. Each time we have used Windy City we have had high level honest professionals. Can't recommend this company highly enough!

This winter some of our pipes froze when it dipped below zero outside. On a day where this was probably very common, Windy City came out that afternoon and thawed the pipes. They came early enough that no pipes burst, and their fee was reasonable. It was $250 per frozen pipe for two plumbers. We had three pipes *soft cries* We would use them again for any plumbing problems. It took the dudes probably 2.5 hours and this included cutting into drywall (non exposed pipes)

I had an appointment set up within 10 minutes of contacting them via Yelp, they fixed my problem (rear-flushing commode leaking) in 20 minutes.   Prompt, polite, courteous, educational (they were able to dumb down the problem and solution for me) and charged exactly what they quoted.  

Highly recommended and would call them again.

Windy City Plumbing is an outstanding company. My basement flooded a few months ago and I was looking for a clean check valve to prevent future floods. Most companies were quoting me at $10k and above. Windy City Plumbing gave me a very reasonable price. And they started the work shortly after they gave me the quote. Not only was their price reasonable but their communication was great as well. I was on vacation while the work was being done. They gave me daily updates on the project while I was gone and gave me piece of mind. I came back from vacation and the job was done. They even called the city to schedule the final inspection while I was gone. Definitely recommend Windy City Plumbing to anyone looking for a flood prevention system!

It took a few calls before anyone even showed up to look at the plumbing situation at my parent's home.
They arrived and didn't really give a quote and it was going to be a bigger job than they thought so we would have to schedule another day.

It was difficult to get a hold of Jose and he apologized once, but after that, he never returned our calls.

I then saw that they have many 1 star reviews, so I don't know why Yelp gives them 5 stars.

I was looking forward to a good experience and clog free living.

Pros:
Punctual. Arrived during the 1 hour time window.
Well spoken, communicated clearly.

Cons:
Assistant doesn't know service area limits.
Didn't do any work.
Failed to return follow up call.

It's unfortunate that I did not receive the incredible 5 star service everyone else has lauded. During my initial call I asked Jose's assistant if my home was in their service area but I was directed to speak with Jose directly because the assistant doesn't know that - a key piece of information I would think. I spoke with Jose, explained my clogged drain situation and he proceeded to quote me a worst case scenario estimate. A bit tough to process but I can understand the approach - at least you know what the cost ceiling is. Jose said I could text him with my decision. Thought it over, followed up, and was scheduled for a PM visit the next day.

Jose was kind enough to call while on route to my home, I advised him someone would be at home and that I was not too far (on the way home). He spent less than 15 minutes at my home, told my relative that he may have to break open the wall to figure out the situation, and then said he had another house to attend to and would call me back later with more information. Never called me back.

While the communication was great, the service call was completely unprofessional. What an incredibly poor experience to have someone show up and abruptly leave without ever making any sincere effort whatsoever. Terrible.

I needed a new kitchen faucet installed after my original faucet got a leak. I had already bought a faucet with the touch feature. The team came in and quickly were able to remove my old faucet, and install the new one. Windy City Plumbing did a great job and I am so happy with my new faucet!

Windy City Plumbing are an amazing group of people. We have an ongoing issue with some back-flow from on of our drain pipes and Chris has come out a number of times to help us relieve the issue. They have gone out of their way to help us keep our building honest and stress that it's a building issue and not a local issue. They are courtesy and always go out of their way to make sure we are being taken care of. We will definitely be calling them for any future needs. We appreciate them greatly!

My mainline was clogged up because of tree roots and needed it to get rodded out. I contacted several businesses and Windy City was the most affordable. Chris and Adan came out and did not disappoint. They didn't waste any time getting to work, explained what was going on and cleaned up everything afterward. What a relief to find a reliable and professional plumber with reasonable prices. With so many options in the city, it's hard to know what you're going to get with some of these companies, but we are so glad we chose Windy City.

We needed to have a new sink and garbage disposal installed in our condo (we purchased the sink and disposal from Home Depot and just had them install it), but it needed new plumbing because we were going from a divided two bowl sink to a one bowl. Jose was punctual, professional, and friendly - there were several challenges in the installation, including a problem with the sizing of our granite countertops which was discovered when he took the old sink out, but he was able to cut the granite to the correct size and get the sink installed, and they still only charged us the original estimate amount despite the extra work. Sink looks great and we couldn't be happier.

Mayra was super responsive to email during the estimate and scheduling process, and we will definitely be choosing Windy City for any additional plumbing work we need done in the future!

I needed the flap replaced on my toilet, a u-joint replaced (i bought a new one), a minor leak in my faucet, and a weight installed on my kitchen sink sprayer.  I sent photos because they wouldn't give estimate without photos.  How do I take a picture of the flap inside my toilet tank?  The estimate for ONE visit was over $800.  Really????  No thanks.

Funny story...just the other day this was my thought process:

Man, Jose at Windy City Plumbing is so awesome. I haven't written a review of a plumber since January 2009!? They are so useful for others to read/use on Yelp, but it's not like I need a new one. I wish I had something else to hire him for. He must've done too good of a job on that tub, because it's been taking commands very well and draining like a good tub should for TWO YEARS! Oh well, guess I should be happy I have no need for an emergency plumber.

Then, this evening I returned home and found my sink full of black chunky water. I feel this somehow was done by my two cats who had been left alone for the weekend...out of spite. The way they were dancing around made me suspicious.

6pm: email Jose. Tell him its not urgent because I don't cook or do dishes very often. Ask if he could come Monday.

615: sink starts to mysteriously drain by itself (MIRACLE!?). Then starts making very loud, creepy noises from the pipes.

::::cats start looking puzzled, I think this means they are feeling regretful for taking this trick a bit too far:::::

6:17: BANG! ZZZZZZZZZZZZbing, zeeeeee! Noises that are not noises that come from any type of water running around in pipes start instrumenting from the cupboard. Decide to see what is going on next door.

6:18: Knock on neighbors' door (our kitchens back up to each other). Jose answers the door. I am shocked...how did he get here so fast!? Very weird, but I think Jose is the shit so I say hello and tell him to pop over to see what is up with my sink-o-black-yuck. Turns out my neighbor had already dispatched him to take care of the issues. He is our building's preferred plumber. The disaster in my sink happened as a result of him fixing hers.

::::Jose & Co run back/forth, do rodding from roof, do plumber things, come in to make sure my sink is back to normal:::::

7pm: Jose comes over to show me a picture of his baby girl (so cute!) see how things are going, and check to see if he can do anything else. He's (as usual) super friendly, professional and awesome.

Sink is now fully functioning, with just clear water that comes out of the sink and goes back down the drain. Like a good sink. And, it was nice to see Jose again...! Even in a random set of circumstances.

I'll be contacting him to do the plumbing work on a bigger project we plan to start soon. I sincerely trust his credentials, experience and competency. If you need a plumber, call this guy.

P.S. Cats obviously had nothing to do with this incident, but I am sure they didn't do anything to stop it, either. Hummmpgh.

Jose the owner of windy city plumbing is great..knowledgable, polite and he responded well to all my questions..on job day, his plumber was getting late do he texted us infroming that..work done efficiently..again there was more work in bathroom so we called them again and second experience was great as well..after job, next day we made payment through card over the phone to Myra the front office staff who is very sweet and efficient in her work..she sent me e receipt on my mail address..overall I had very good experience with windy city plumbing and in future If I have something, will surely contact them again..thanks Jose !!

Highly recommend.  They were on time !! Did a great job, super professional and friendly.  They even clean up after themselves (eg replacing a faucet , I had stuff in the cabinet they had to remove to do the job , and they put it all back).  It's so nice to have found an honest group of guys who do great work.  I highly recommend!!! Just had a great appointment with Chris and Isaiah from Windy City plumbing. We had a sink clog, and set an appointment to clear it out. We weren't even going to bring up an issue we were having on the other side with the disposal, but they were able to fix both in less than 15 minutes! They were friendly and Mayra was responsive and flexible and in planning the appointment. Will definitely use again!

One of our kids flushed a foreign object and clogged the toilet. The other plumbers that I called either had high prices or just didn't show up. Windy City Plumbing not only arrived early, but they worked quickly to get the job done. They removed my toilet, fixed the clog, and reinstalled the toilet all in under 30 minutes. They also had reasonable prices and the estimate they gave was accurate. Their communication is awesome - if there are any changes to the scheduled meeting time, they will contact you, unlike the other plumbers/handymen who either come late or don't show up and don't have the courtesy to at least give you a heads up.

My wife and I now have our go-to plumbing service. Windy City Plumbing is the real deal!

I contacted them, along with several other well reviewed plumbers, about a rodding job. I specified my needs in the email - single family home, typical Chicago lot. Main line sewer rodding. And asked for some quotes. Of the 5, 1 didn't do rodding. 2 asked me to call them to obtain the quote. Only two responded with some straightforward replies and shared their costs for typical rodding jobs. I phoned the other 2 for good measure but of the 4, Windy City was the most economical, responded to my inquiry with some actual $$'s  and had great response time and reviews, so I booked them. They came out the same day. They got the job done quick, despite running into a problem accessing the line. But they offered a solution and got it done. I recommend them.

We had a leak in our house after regular hours and after searching on Yelp, we decided to call Windy City Plumbing. My husband got a call back in about an hour and got an appointment scheduled the next day. Chris and Julio came and snaked out our pipe and got the job done. After 2 hours, the leak turned into a bigger mess. We called them back and Chris and Julio returned the same evening. It turned out to be a bigger issue and stayed until the job was completed (around 10:15 pm). We were so glad Chris and Julio found the true issue and fixed it fairly quickly. We will definitely use and recommend Windy City Plumbing for plumbing needs!

After a deep freeze in Chicago, my ejector pump went out.  These guys were 1) more responsive to communications over Yelp, 2) available sooner to fix the problem, and 3) the most cost effective option by far.  The guys who did the fix were on time, polite, professional, and skilled.  I would highly recommend them.

I would like to thank Windy City Plumbing for always providing wonderful service.  Over the past few years, I have relied on Jose and his team for his services from fixing sinks to installing new equipment (washer/dryer) to upgrading.  Just yesterday, they put in a new bathroom sink.

What I like about them is that they are efficient, polite, knowledgeable, timely, affordable, focused and respectful.  Jose gives us great advice on the best way to go about fixing something.  He listens to our desires and offers the best solutions.  For example, he helped suggest the kind of sink that would work best in our (funny) bathroom and his team helped us decide it's position (that would be best for our new sink).  They took out our old sink and disposed of it without leaving a trace in our place or in our condo building.  
Olivia, the receptionist, was the nicest person to set an appointment with.  She was so friendly!  I've always been able to get an appointment within my timeframe or when there is an emergency.

I would absolutely recommend Windy City Plumbing to anyone I know.  I am so happy that I found Jose and his team; it certainly makes owning a condo that much easier.  I look forward to someday fixing the rest of my bathroom  . . . with Windy City Plumbing on my team.

So glad I happened upon this company! We had a leak from the base of our toilet, so I turned to Yelp - which was great because it sourced my complaint to several companies. Jose from Windy City Plumbing contacted me first, asked for more details and gave me a best case and worst case scenario price-wise. Their appointment person was super pleasant and did his best to get the first available. Two workers showed up a few minutes early and had the situation solved in minutes. They gave us tips to keep our plumbing healthy - and also gave a super reasonable price for their time and work. It was nice to hear the guy say I love working for my boss. Jose is a great guy

Jose is an awesome plumber that charges fair prices! We worked with him for a kitchen and bath renovation. He was knowledgeable, professional, and courteous during his visit. Before the visit, he provided a fair estimate and was very responsive to text (we had lots of questions and he always responded promptly). We highly recommend Windy City Plumbing!

We live in a high rise building that has strict insurance and licensing requirements; Jose was able to meet the requests and deliver the work he promised. He even went above and beyond and pulled out a super heavy fridge to confirm that there already exists an ice maker box! He talked us through the steps he was taking to ensure our kitchen plumbing was properly prepped for the renovation.

Windy City is the absolute best! Everybody that worked with me were great. They're quick and easy to work with, and their honesty is bar none. Jose, Mayra, Chris, Julio, and Armando could not have been kinder and better to work with. My wife and I know nothing about plumbing and these guys could've charged us an arm and a leg to install and fix things that didn't need installing and fixing after our basement flooded, but it turns out the problem was easier to fix than we had anticipated. I have recently recommended them to a friend of mine and will continue to recommend them to everyone else. We will be calling no one else for any future plumbing needs.

My basement recently flooded so I called Windy City and was able to get an appointment next day to snake the sewer. The plumbers that came out worked fast and were extremely knowledgeable and everyone there seems to be very friendly.

Chris and Julio were AWESOME. They were super courteous and friendly, which is not always a given these days. I called this company to investigate a leak at the base of our toilet -- typically an issue with the wax seal. However, almost instantly they figured out that the leak was from a shoddy renovation job a couple years ago (different contractor); they then fixed it on the spot. This basically saved us from potentially having water leak into the neighbors below us... and all for a very fair price. Highly recommended -- save yourself the time and hassle of shopping around and just give these guys a call.

If you need a plumber and you're reading reviews on Yelp to find a good one, stop reading this and just call these guys. They're the best. Simply put, they do what they say they will do. You can't beat that.

Over the past year or so, Jose and his team have replaced a sump pump, an ejector pump, and rodded a dishwasher line and a bath tub for us. Every time, his team has worked efficiently (less than two hours usually) and courteously.

In five years on Yelp, I've written three other reviews ever. I'm happy to add a fourth for Windy City Plumbing. Those 5 stars are well-earned.

A really great crew, and would not hesitate to recommend. WCP came out to do a pre-purchase video inspection of the sewer lines. They provided quick, courteous service, offered great general advice about maintenance, and by far had the most competitive pricing. Great small business that gave exceptional service.  I live in a hundred year old house and had a simple problem, once they fixed that problem, they discovered a bigger problem waiting to happen.  They went to the hardware store, did what they could, told me they had a major job the next day (a Friday) and would try to be back tomorrow to take care of everything.  I was a little nervous when it was 4:00pm on Friday and I hadn't heard, but sure enough they showed up again and were able to get everything fixed.  I waited 3 weeks to write this email and have had zero problems with the work completed.

I can't rave enough about Windy City Plumbing! In the worst cold weather that has happened in Chicago I had a pipe burst in my home and they were able to come same day to repair my pipe. Their prices are completely reasonable and I would recommend them for and plumbing need!

I was waiting for a truly phenomenal experience for my first Yelp review and these guys delivered. We had been without hot water in our kitchen sink since moving into our condo 3 years ago. After a terrible experience with a different plumbing company, I thought we would be forced to wash dishes with cold water for eternity. But thanks to Windy City that is no longer the case. They found the root of the issue and had it fixed within a couple of hours for a very reasonable price. We ended up needing to buy a new faucet and they even came back later in the day to install it. Professional, very nice, and incredibly accommodating!

Jose was truly a pleasure to work with.

Our condo building needed a spigot outside in order to get the decks powerwashed.  I came to Yelp and found that Jose got really great reviews and I called him up immediately.

He came out to give us a quote and to make sure it could be done.  The price seemed right and he seemed confident that all would go smoothly.

A couple weeks later, he came out and took care of the spigot installation in a timely manner.  He was so polite and professional.

UGH!!  My sump pump was failing and letting water leak out onto my basement floor. It was frustrating and inconvenient to have to clean up the mess over and over again so I gave Jose a call.  

Having had an awesome experience with him before, I trusted that he would know the right thing to do.  He came by to check out the problem and recommended that we replace the switch, (which we had done before), or the pump itself since it was pretty old and obviously ineffective.

I decided to go ahead and replace the pump.  I figured I didn't want to go back and forth with this issue and wanted it fixed once and for all.   He suggested a make and model and even told me where I could get it and he said he would be happy to replace it.  For free-99. WOW! I even got a discount on the price of the pump because Jose had connections there.  Double WOW!!

I couldn't possibly ask for better service.

Thank you so much, Colleen and other Yelp reviewers, for taking the time to leave Windy City Plumbing feedback. After such a great repair experience myself today, I fully understand why their reviews are so detailed and praiseworthy--Jose and his company, without a doubt, deserve all the business they can get!

I called Windy City Plumbing for an appointment on a Tuesday morning after reading the raving recent reviews on Yelp. We quickly and efficiently set up an appointment for the next morning.

Jose called before he arrived and I should note he was even 15 minutes early! He is incredibly friendly on top of clearly being a very experienced plumber in the Chicagoland area. (He even gave me a great Oak Park-area restaurant recommendation!)

This is the first repair we've had to do in our first home so obviously I was really nervous about finding a trustworthy plumber in the area. NO MORE! He not only carefully and meticulously repaired the wax seal that was causing our toilet to leak into our neighbor's condo unit downstairs, but he explained what he was doing and took the time to double and triple test that everything was working properly and that the bolts were tightened the appropriate amount. As already noted by other reviewers, he also carefully cleaned up everything without any extra thought or effort, like it was just part of the job.

Like its website says, Windy City Plumbing charges $80 an hour. Also, Jose said that the repair was guaranteed for the next year. We can call him if it's ever a problem again and he will come out and repair it--NO CHARGE. Incredibly amazing and refreshing?! I am aware.

We will definitely be giving Windy City Plumbing a call again when we take care of some other deferred home maintenance projects later this year and possibly even to redo our second bathroom in the more-distant future.

If you are new homeowners in the Chicagoland area like us and looking for a reliable, friendly, and experienced plumber, definitely give Windy City Plumbing a call! You won't regret it.

Jose and team really do a great job ensuring their work is meeting the customer's needs, informing of potential future problem spots, and charging very reasonable rates.

It may sound a little generic, but these guys have been super-helpful and I would whole-heartedly recommend them!

P.S. they're always on time for appointments (yes, I have a lot of old house piping issues) and that's a huge plus!

They were great! With the cold snap, it seemed like everyone was dealing with frozen and bursting water pipes at the same time. It was our first time looking for a plumber, but the good reviews and close proximity  prompted us to call Windy City Plumbing. I'm so glad we did! Even though they were so busy, they came out the same day, within hours of our call. They were pleasant, knowledgeable, reasonable, and they seemed to care about our issue. I had two different issues I was working on for my house.  The first issue was HVAC and the second was repairing pipes due to a recent valve replacement that resulted in diminished capacity.  In calling around for quotes I saw Windy City Plumbing and decided to call.

In talking to Jose, he mentioned an HVAC guy that was top notch. (Cernes Environmental) In calling them, they saved me thousands of dollars... defintely worth calling.

After getting Jose out to look at this job and describing my situation, he offerred a quote.  His approach is to give a Not to Exceed quote for work to be done.  It can come off as daunting, but he really does mean it.  If his quote is low, he absorbs the cost.  If the quote is high, he will reduce the actual billed.   This certainly is a start of what differentiates him from the rest.

He gave me a rough estimate and I'm looking forward to the paper estimate in the near future.

In the meantime, he came by to check another valve that another plumber had adjusted.  He found that the valve was not fully opened and that I no longer needed to do the multi-thousands of work.  This increases his trust value with me.

I'm looking forward to seeing the quote and seeing how we can work through getting the work done.

I had a typical problem -- a leaky tub faucet. Jose did a great job, but on top of that, I feel like I actually learned something about how faucets work. He's friendly and easygoing, and took my dog's barking and snarling (then his helpfulness) totally in stride.

All these five star ratings are for good reason. Seriously, if you need a plumber, don't even bother trying anyone else, just call Jose. I'd give six stars if I could.

To end on a positive, Jose from Windy City texted me that he was sorry for the late proposal, as well as posted on Yelp.  I did appreciate his reaching out to apologize. Thank you!  Everyone deserves a second chance, but for the huge cost savings alone, I would pass on your company now that I found a highly-rated, quick response plumbing service who does good work for much less. Why go anywhere else? Jose is as professional as they come, competent as they come, and unbelievably reasonable as far as price. My bathroom sink had a huge hole in, and shooting out water. I called Jose left a message and he called me back promptly. He came to my house with the part, unlike a lot of other plumbers who will leave and charge you as they travel to the hardware store.

As far as I'm concerned he's my plumber for life.

Wow! I found Windy City yesterday on Yelp and called. The owner called me from his vacation in Mexico to make sure what I needed done and assured me it would be taken care of TODAY.
Robert came today and called me several times while doing the job on this rental unit. What a nice, courteous man.
I will use them again and have actually put them in my file as the plumbers to use on this building.

Great service, very nice and efficient. When they got here they realized they needed a different pipe that they did not have in their truck. I was afraid they were going to have to reschedule but they ran to the store, got the piece and finished the project within the estimated time. Very well priced as well. Came across Windy City Plumbing while searching for services online. Because of the great on-line reviews, I completed a work request and received immediate reply from Jose seeking service location and time. Upon receiving our location Jose politely informed me that we were outside of their  service area. I expressed my disappointment as we have been seeking reputable plumbing  service for quite some time and were encouraged by WCP's great reviews. Thankfully Jose came to the rescue of a damsel in distress (in the far south suburbs) and agreed to go out of his way and make a special trip to our house to give advice on our plumbing issues.
Since we live in a remote area, they realized they were going to be about 15 minutes late and called 30 minutes ahead to say they were running about 15 minutes late. After Jose and his assistant arrived, they promptly proceeded to investigate our plumbing issues and explained it to my inept but very lovable husband so that even he could understand. Jose assured my husband that he could DIY and fix the problem and to take pictures and send it and he (Jose) would consult and walk my husband thru the process.....at no charge!!!
Well things worked out wonderfully. The plumbing problem is now solved. WCP did not charge us for coming out of their service area. My husband did forcefully pay them for their time and gas for visiting out of their service area and their invaluable consulting services.  I would highly recommend WCP for anyone seeking a  professional plumbing service. Two thumbs up!!

Jose was recommended by a friend to fix a plumbing issue.   Our basement had flooded.

I called Jose and he responded within an hour.  He scheduled an appointment at the end of a busy day.    They quickly diagnosed the problem and were  able to replace the faulty ejector pump within an hour.

They kept me informed throughout the entire process.  I appreciated his honesty and the way he conducted business.

Their work was top notch.  I have already recommended them to friends and family.  I will be using him for all of our plumbing needs.

So happy I found a plumber I will call again. Wonderful all around!!! I had a party over the weekend which resulted in a toilet that would only flush if I manually lifted the lever. First thing Monday morning, I filled out a request quote and within minutes I had an email asking me some follow up questions and to send pictures if I could. I immediately responded and very quickly I had another email from Windy City plumbing which told me that my toilet needed to be replaced and they offered a recommendation for what kind to buy. I was also given a quote for what it would cost for Windy City Plumbing to install it. I went and bought a toilet from Home Depot and on the way called some other plumbers to get quotes- all the other quotes where far more than Windy City Plumbing. I contacted WCP and made an appointment. On the day of the appointment I was told they would be at my place between 12 and 1 PM. Right after 12:00, I got a call from Chris that they were at my building. The two guys were so great- nice an made me feel very comfortable. They brought the toilet I purchased up 3 floors to my condo and brought the old one down with no extra charge. They finished the job fast and did an amazing job. They also charged me the quoted price- nothing more. I'm so excited to have found this company and have already recommended them to family and friends in the area.

Jose and his team are awesome! Our new (but old) house was having problems with drainage, so we tried Windy City Plumbing.  They were able to come to our house right away, and took care of 30 years of grease build up (rodded, cameraed and jetted pipes).  Jose was able to diagnose and solve our problem quickly.  He is extremely knowledgeable, very professional, and also affordable.  Highly recommend!

11/8/2016 Pathetic. My washing machine lint filter fell off into the drainage pipe.  My mud sink drain then was very slow to drain.  They told me when arrived (2 men) that there was no way the lint filter would've gone into the extrusion pump pit, would be in pipes.  But they used their motorized snake and could not find anything clogging the pipes to ejector. Then they said if the filter did make its way to the ejector, it would have been chopped up into tiny bits and spit out into outside pipe, despite that was opposite of what they said initially. They could not explain the slow drainage then, and actually claimed the drainage was normal though it definitely was not and I told them it was very different from prior to the lint filter falling off. Jose (owner) told me when I called that the service call would be $115 for one hour, if not a lot of time required, could be less. The guys were fairly casual and took less than 45 minutes but still charged $115. They did not give me an invoice or receipt showing what they did. When I did a load of laundry a couple of days later, the washing machine drainage completely overflowed all over the floor, as when they put the p trap back together, there was a big leak created. I sent three emails to Jose telling him that it was worse and that I wanted the written work order sent to me. I got no response at all any of the three times. Had to have someone else fix the leak so I could do laundry, though they caused that leak and I still don't have any paperwork from them as a receipt or work order, though that is required by law from any service provider. I selected them because of their excellent website ratings and I was shocked how bad they were. $115 for no repair, and they actually made it worse.

12/2016 update:  Jose did call me after realizing that I had been emailing him at a site he does not monitor.  He offered to come out and fix the problem himself and also refund me the full price I paid.   I took him up on the fix and he came out and made it right.   He also followed up a day or two later to make sure everything was still working fine after they left.  He also offered me the refund despite having fixed the problem,  which I appreciated as a gesture that he was sincere about standing behind his work.  After his efforts to do right when I was unhappy, I feel differently about his service.  Jose was able to fix it.

I never write reviews but felt compelled to write one for Windy City Plumbing. Jose was great - very coureous and professional. We needed work done on a sink very quickly  - we sold our house and needed a faucet fixed based on the home inspection. Jose came quickly to fix the sink - he needed a very specific tool, so he went out and bought it, came back and fixed the sink. We also needed the receipt right away and he helped us out with that very quickly.

I would recommend Jose to anyone! He was great, he goes out of his way to help you, and he is a true professional!

We just finished up a pretty major plumbing and repair job that included replacing the main sanitary pipe that connects to village.  We had the same work attempted several years ago but job was done poorly and water started leaking in through wall every time it rained.  The job was done correctly this time and included an outstanding patch and plug through foundation wall.  Communication and responsiveness was excellent throughout the entire process and everyone involved in the job was extremely professional, friendly and courteous.  I couldn't recommend Windy City Plumbing more if I tried!

Windy City Plumbing went above and beyond to fix another plumber's major mistake.  The owner and his employees communicated every step of the way, were extremely courteous and were easy to work with.  Being such a large project, the owner broke down each step and checked in with me daily to ensure that I was satisfied with how the work was progressing.  

Windy City Plumbing's pricing is fair and accurate.  Prior to calling Windy City Plumbing, I found out the hard way that plumbing pricing estimates can vary widely.  The quality of the work speaks for itself and is well worth every penny.  They are the only plumbing company I will ever call as long as I am living in the area.

These guys were great! Chris and his partner that worked on my house we very professional and really wanted to fix the issue. I had two other companies tell me 2 different reasons for the stoppage in my house. Neither were correct. Chris diagnosed the the problem within 10 mins and fixed it within an hour. I would of spent thousands of dollars if I used the other plumbers. I highly recommend Windy City and will use them again for any issues down the road.

Jose is a pro. Extremely accommodating and professional - he doesnt waste any time  offering solutions that clearly wont work. We were desperate as we had a dishwasher that was leaking on our neighbors ceiling[+ without dishwasher!]
He helped solve this issue within the time he had quoted [after appearing on time downtown]
We then had another issue shortly afterwards and yet again Jose did his upmost to accommodate and went above and beyond to fix the issue [pipes not to code] and ran into other problems [stud walls] +over time wise but stayed to ensure he finished the job.
Windy City is reasonable price wise and v fair. His side kick Brian is extremely amusing and like Jose extremely efficient - I would have no hesitation in recommending Jose and Windy City Plumbing and using them [hopefully not!] in the future.

I've used these guys twice, which is the problem.  They come out promptly the guy curses alot, which isn't professional.  Overlooking that here is the problem, they charged $275 each time to rod my main sewer line.  The second time they said well, it's been more than 6 months so there is another charge.  Today I call, since it was done in early December, and I now have my sump pump backing up into my toilet every time it turns on, because the sewer line is clogged.  The line is blocked again, less than 2 months after they were out!  When I call they say they don't give a warranty of any sewer line work.  I've called 3 other places and they all say, we warranty our sewer line work, to call the original place!  So, I've wasted $550, only to have to hire a real professional in an emergency situation, who will offer a warranty and stand behind their work!  Please don't waste your money here, you'll just wind up needing to hire someone else in a short time.

I usually don't leave reviews on yelp as much as I'd like to however, after such an incredible job, I feel it's the least I can do for this company.

I recently called on Windy City plumbing to service my clogged tub drain. Now, first off I can't tell you how hard it is to find a quality professional plumbing company to service your home for a good price nowadays. I've been ripped off with poor service and being overcharged one to many times with companies who seem to take advantage of people with lesser knowledge of the plumbing construction.

Jose takes the time to essentially educate you on how things work as he diagnoses the problem and clearly explains what needs to be done to fix it, without trying to get you to redo your whole bathroom.

His prices are fair but cheaper than any other company I have called in my 3yrs of owning a home.

Jose was not immediately available to take my call, however I was able to leave a message with his assistant and received a call back promptly.

And just like when it rains it pours, I also had a leaking toilet that I didn't know was causing damage to the tenants ceiling downstairs :( . Jose knew just what the problem was and was prepared and equipped with the items necessary to tackle the job within the SAME HOUR it was noticed! Saved me money on a future call and time!

I couldn't have been happier with the service provided by Windy City plumbing and I HIGHLY recommend them! They have the greatest service with the most bang for your buck and also the only company I feel comfortable with as far as plumbing!

I was referred to Windy City Plumbing by my building management company to have them come check out a possible leak in my unit, and I couldn't be happier with their services.

Jose and his team are professional, helpful, honest, kind, and courteous. They are all really nice guys, and were very respectful of our home and made sure not to leave any mess or boot prints or anything before they left.

Last year I called to have my sewer line rodded out and needed it done immediately. Unfortunately Jose said he couldn't get anyone out the same day but because he was the first plumber to actually return my call I told him I would think of him next time. I have to do this every year so I tried him again this year and thankfully I didn't have to have same day service. He sent out Chris and Robert who could not be more professional.

They also showed up earlier than expected (another plus) and were finished in under an hour. I would recommend them to anyone and will continue to use them for all of my plumbing needs.

I have to add that my brother is a plumber and I would still call Windy City. Well worth the price which was also fair and reasonable.

I had a toilet replaced by Windy City. The entire process from start to finish was done very professionally. For the appointment, I received a call back in a very reasonable amount of time. Jose was able to give me a ball park range for the work which is always helpful. I required a Certificate of Insurance for the Condo Association (River North high rise). The removal and install was done in under an hour. Very smooth process and very reasonably priced. Highly recommend this contractor.

Jose is very accomodating, reasonable, and competent.  Everything one wants in a plumber.

I had to replace the trap under my bathroom sink, a cramped space with ancient plumbing.  I attempted the repairs myself, even bought the replacement parts at my local hardware store, but gave up about halfway through the job.  I called Jose because of a review I read on yelp.  We tried to make an appointment for that day, but Jose could not make it.  He came the next day, given a one hour window when my wife would be home, and completed the repairs, using the parts I had purchased.  Another plumber would have charged me 10 times for parts alone.  Jose even gave me a discount because he had cancelled our first appointment!  Incredible.

I would recommend this guy to anyone who asked.  He's getting all my plumbing work from now on. I almost hope something else breaks because he's just so damn pleasant.

Jose was awesome.  We had already had a terrible plumbing experience, and were so nervous about getting another one but after our water heater broke we had no choice but to use one again.  After posting a bad review of the previous plumber, Windy City Plumbing came recommended by another yelper.  He picked up our water heater, hauled it up three flights, removed our other one, and installed it for a very fair price. He also explained everything and told us to call him if we ever had to manually light it ourselves so he could walk us through how to do it.  He answered a lot of plumbing questions and the best part has made me believe that plumbers in Chicago are not shady anymore.  Thank you Jose!

Jose is very knowedable and professional. He installed a new dishwasher and hooked up a new faucet, the drain, and water after a new counter installation. The counter installers did not finish 'til 7pm on a Friday night, but Jose did not want me to be w/o plumbing in my kitchen, so I was really pleased that he was able to accomodate my needs on a holiday weekend. Additionally, he was able to open my bathroom drain after 2 others had failed.

These folks are super. Professional, prompt, and they totally exceeded my expectations (and did not exceed their initial  estimate).

I manage a shop in Chicago, and as a newbie to the city I didn't have any idea who to contact. I used Yelp and emailed three different plumbing companies; Windy City was the only one who returned my call, and they were friendly, professional, and responsible. I will definitely utilize their services again - both at the store, and when something goes wrong at the apartment (and we know, it always does at some point).

Every positive Yelp reviewer is right. These are your go-to folks.

I've hired Jose from Windy City Plumbers a few times and he is the best! He  responds to messages quickly and makes appointments that fit your schedule. He quickly determines the problem is, and explains it in simple terms. He provides options when possible, and based on a comparison with another plumber, he doesn't try and make you have work done that isn't absolutely necessary. I trust him and he does quality work quickly - I highly recommend him.

Brian and Chris are just great! They are courteous, professional and most of all honest. Fixed my issue for a reasonable price. I would recommend this company to anyone. They will not BS you and charge you exorbitant prices like John Baethke who diagnosed and priced a problem without looking at anything and overcharges as well.

Thank heaven for YELP.  Had a leaking shower head and needed a plumber and didn't know where to start.  Found Windy City Plumbing on YELP and it really worked out.  Jose called and had me send a picture of the shower faucet so he wouldn't waste time coming out and then having to run to the store and charge for the time.  Brian actually came out and was honest enough to admit he hadn't done this repair before.  What a relief an honest plumber.  Had it fixed in 5 minutes.  Said he had to charge for a minimum of an hour and wanted to know if there was anything else we needed to have done.  Unbelievable!  GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE!  What an amazing company!  Love 'em.  Would definitely use them again.  All this and reasonable rates.

If I could give my updated review a title, it would be Jose Intervened. After writing the first review, I decided to contact Jose and personally express my dissatisfaction. His immediate response was that he would personally come out the next day to fix the problem.

Jose did as promised and arrived on time. He was very apologetic for the poor service I received the previous day. He promptly fixed my leaky sink, AND found another source of leaking water.

He truly went above and beyond to fix it. He did everything from calling the hardware store, to requesting a new faucet, to installing it well. When I tried to pay him he refused, and said he only hoped the service he provided redeemed his business.

We hired Windy City Plumbing to install a flood mitigation system for our home in Berwyn. We are very satisfied with the work that was performed by Jose and his assistants. They were courteous, thoughtful, friendly and professional. They began the project on time and completed it as agreed. They also restored our landscaping. This review is a long time coming, and frankly, it is so well deserved that I feel guilty I haven't done it sooner. Simply put, Jose and his crew are the best. They are probably the most responsive company I have ever dealt with, which, when it comes to plumbing (i.e. Honey, we have an emergency!), is huge. They have saved the day on numerous occasions (backed up ejector pump, questionable sump pump sounds, water heater out), during which they likely had *numerous* opportunities to upsell me new equipment, charge me for additional services I didn't need, etc....but they were straight-up, honest, informative and friendly. Truth be told, they have probably saved me between $1-2k since I moved into my (125 year old) home almost 3 years ago. I won't use anyone else - the 5 star Yelp reviews speak for themselves. I can only hope they don't get *too* popular so that they are available to respond to the next plumbing disaster at my house!

For several different projects Jose and his crew have been responsive, effective, and reasonably priced.  The biggest job they did for me was to replace the water main line.  Puddles were appearing on my dirt basement floor and I started digging, slowing realizing the flow was increasing the deeper I went- the pool was getting bigger and bigger.  Kind of terrifying. Jose arrived soon and suggested running the line along the basement ceiling instead of 3 feet under ground the length of the building as it had been.  Getting at it and reconnecting took a lot of digging and finesse.  Jose was there through it all directing his guys.  It was a huge relief finally to have it taken care of.  They definitely earned my trust.

Jose of Windy City Plumbing did an excellent job of unclogging my drains. He explained what he was doing and he was thorough and very neat. His price is very fair. And, what I also like about him is that he is communicative. He arrived on time and an hour and half later, my house was up and running! I highly recommend him.

I spoke with Jose who was very friendly. My basement toilet kept over flowing from water from the city flooding in my basement. Jose and another worker came out to rod the sewer drain but his rod got stuck! 3 1/2 hrs later the rod was still stuck. Jose informed my husband that the rod is stuck probably because of a broken pipe and that we could have a city inspector come out but they would charge us 1200.00 just to approve or deny the work from the city. I asked Jose if he could just come try and remove the rod because i need a second opinion. He came out the next day and it took him 35 mins to remove the supposedly stuck rod. Something didn't seem right so I called the city myself. They told me the city inspector is free! Any charges I would incur would be from the plumber and if the inspector came out and it was anything the city needed to fix it would be on the city's dime not mine. I never write reviews on yelp but I don't appreciate anyone or any company that try to take advantage of a homeowner.  Fyi.......Be careful with looking at reviews on yelp. Anyone can write them. Back to angies list I go.

I would give these guys 10 stars if I could. Their service and professionalism far exceeded expectation. I had several pipes in a really old building burst. I messaged Windy City Plumbing at around 6pm on a Monday evening regarding emergency service. The owner, Jose, replied in less than 15 minutes! Amazing! He was able to schedule service for the following day in the afternoon. It just kept getting better! I couldn't believe how well this was going. The next day, my assigned technician called to let me know when they would be on the way...they were an hour early!! I was fully prepared to wait around for hours, but these guys are prompt and professional. The job turned out to be a particularly large one and I had maybe four different technicians working over the course of three days. Each one was friendly, professional and explained what was going on at each stage of the job. They completed the job proficiently and made me feel very secure in their work. It was very easy to communicate with the technicians as well as the owner. They return phone calls and text messages very quickly...even when they are out on other jobs. Their customer service is unparalleled. I will be contacting them for ALL of my future plumbing needs, no question. If they navigated my nightmare of a job so proficiently, I am confident they can handle just about anything. I cannot imagine a better company to work with. Even the office staff was friendly and extra helpful. Jose has assembled an awesome team of people. Shout out to Chris, Manny, Julio and Mayra. Three different plumbers inspected my brand new commercial grade hot water heater, and could not keep it running. I found Windy City Plumbing via Yelp and left a message at around midnight with their answering service.  The next morning Jose called and made an appointment for early AM.  Chris to the rescue! Chris was so smart, so informed, so able to communicate and fix the problem.  The damper on the hot water heater wasn't set correctly.  Chris reset the damper, and to insure that the machine was fixed, he stayed and prompted the heater to cycle three times before he left.  Fast, professional, and affordable.

We had clogged drains in our bathroom and Jose got his guys out quickly. They were professional and cleaned the grime from their work. I have 2 dogs and they were comfortable being around them too. The only thing I wish was mentioned in the initial phone call was that the $115 per hour for the first hour stands, regardless of how much time it takes. The men were quick and in/out within 30 min! That was great but the charge was still $115. I would still use them again! Thanks Jose!

Heads up!  If you have a gas leak, DO NOT go with Windy City Plumbing.  They're not experienced whatsoever in gas leaks.  After paying them close to $1,000, they did not even come close to resolving my issue.  Jose was not reasonable, and would not adjust the price. They charge $100 an hour for an inexperienced staff.  I left him a message, and he didn't return my phone call.  I instead received a text message asking me to call the office.   After having Peoples Gas come out again, I sadly learned that for the price I paid them I should have a resolution to my problem.  As a result of this really bad experience, I felt compelled to forewarn anyone who was desperate like me and on the fence about hiring them.  This is my way of paying it forward.  Ask questions before you hire them.  Ask them about certifications.  Ask about their equipment.  Check out their equipment.  In my case, the pressure they were applying to test the pipes was bursting holes everywhere and would have never resolved my problem.  Their solution -- tear down walls throughout my entire building and replace most of my pipes throughout 4 floors.  Does that sound reasonable to you?  If it doesn't, then my recommendation is to do your due diligence.  If you do, you'll never hire them and will save yourself some money.

Fantastic work from Team Windy City.  After spending 4 hours on Saturday and 8 hours on Sunday with half a dozen trips to Home Depot to rent equipment (half of the things we brought back to the house were broken so it wasn't entirely our fault) we were at a loss on how to unclog our tub.  I called around Monday to make an appt for Tuesday and contacted someone other than Windy City to make the actual appt.  They called and said they wouldn't be at our house until 11:30 but right at 10am someone rang my door saying they were the plumber.  It was Jose's guys.

After explaining the situation at the door they said I could pay the same price now or at 11:30 if I wanted.  I agreed to have them take a look and from doorstep to fully repaired and cleaned up (the even sprayed and toweled up the mess in the tub) they were finished in 15 minutes.  He said I was paying for an hour so they helped me with some sink traps and gave recommendations.

Pro: Fast, efficient, almost psychic service with a smile and very helpful, also the cheapest of the places I quoted.

Con: Now my feet are cold when showering due to not sitting in 6 inches of water.

I'm surprised Jose doesn't have more reviews- because he's fantastic.

I had Jose here last week to fix my leaky toilet.  He was able to come within 24 hours of me calling him- and he fixed the toilet in less than a half hour.  Extremely nice- definitely can't go wrong with Jose!

Jose is awesome.

He was quick to respond to our plumbing crises when tree roots invaded our sewer.  He was very friendly and pointed out a few existing plumbing concerns in our old house.  I felt sorry for him and his associate as they pulled a ball or roots the size of a small dog out of our pipe.  Not an easy or clean job.

I would definitely call again.

If you are looking for plumbers, just call these guys. They are the best you can get! No worries because they are very responsible for their job. I remodeled my entire condo in the past few months and I had too many contractors. I have to say Jose and his team are the best among them all! They are the best because they are very responsible for their works. As we all know, contractors make mistakes sometimes. So do they. However, Jose responded quickly! He came to fix the problem on the next day. Additionally, their price is fair. I had many quotes from other companies that were much more expensive than them. I don't know how well those other companies can do according to their prices but I do know they cannot beat Jose and his team for sure. Jose will always make you satisfied and he never gives up on his customers. What else do you expect from your contractors? Save yourself some time and stop hesitating.  just call them! You won't regret for this choice!

I have to thank my fellow yelpers who suggested this business.  I had a Sunday emergency and the first three plumbers I called never even called back (well, one called back two days later--not exactly helpful).  Jose got back to me right away and explained that he had a family emergency but would find someone.  He asked me to send photos of the broken control so they would know what parts to bring.  The guy who came couldn't have been nicer and although the problem was more complex than I'd anticipated, he got it figured out.   I've since used them for a dryer vent problem--again conveniently scheduled and expertly fixed, but a reasonable price.  I'm so glad to have a new plumber!

Had a clogged kitchen drain and we needed a plumber. Although we had a recommendation for another plumber, came onto Yelp and saw the rave reviews for Windy City. Jose came a few days later and was fantastic. He and his assistant were early for the appointment, completed the job in an hour and cleaned up after the work was complete. Not only was he timely, he was pleasant and courteous. He was professional and reasonably priced. You really can't ask for much more! Thanks Jose and Windy City Plumbing.

I rarely write reviews but i felt Windy City Plumbing deserved that I share my experience with their service. There is a saying, when it rains, it pours and this was very true in my case. A few weeks ago, I called a plumber to rod out the stairwell drain. What I thought was a clogged drained turned out to be a huge broken pipe that ran underneath the foundation from the exterior into my basement. I had contacted several different plumbers for estimates and Jose was the plumber I felt most comfortable with. I normally contact contractors that are referred but this time I found Jose randomly. I can say I was fortunate to have found this very professional and thoughtful person, Jose. The cost and the work that was needed to open the foundation was extremely stressful. To add to the stress, I had just learned that my mom was terminally ill while dealing with the major repairs at home. Jose was not aware of my personal problem. He only knew from one of his employees that they had seen me emotional. Jose had given me the quote for the work that needed to be done which I had agreed to paying. The work that Jose and his staff did turned out to be more than they had expected. Not only did Jose not charge me more for the extended labor but he charged me less than the price we had agreed on because Jose said he had learned from one of his employees that they had seen me very stressed and hoped this could help me. Jose nor his employees knew of my mom's illness. I am beyond grateful for the work and their kindness. It is rare to find this type of exceptional service. I have become a loyal client of Windy City Plumbing and will refer Jose and his company to all my friends and family.  I believe in Karma and Jose's kind act will bring him continued success.

Good plumber. He was very flexible with the scheduling. I initially had asked him to come in right after our new countertops were installed to hook up the faucet and sink. When the counters were done, though, the contractor said it had to dry for 24 hours before attaching the plumbing. He had no trouble rescheduling for the next day, and was willing to come after 6pm so I didn't have to take off another day of work. No complaints about the work that was done.

We had a major plumbing problem, actually it was a nightmare. We needed an inside sewer pipe rerouted, which I new from the start. I called a 3 different plumbers to see who I felt comfortable with and knew what to do. The first plumber saw what needed to be done and ran. The second plumber seemed ok. Then Jose came out, he knew what the problem was and guaranteed his work 100%. This company is the absolute best company I've ever dealt with and I've dealt with many. They came out when they were suppose to. They were very upfront and the only company that was a completely confident in what needed to be done. They worked till 11pm until the job was finished. When have you ever seen that???They cleaned up!!! The cracked sewer pipe is now in the past....  I had Jose come back and re-install my garbage disposal which 3 other plumbers supposedly fixed. All of the other plumbers were to lazy to cut the connecting pipes properly so it wouldn't sit on an angle and leak. I can't believe it took 4 plumbers to fix the problem. It  took Jose less than a half  hour  to fix it...  Don't hesitate one moment to call this company. You won't ever meet better people. Thank You Jose, Bill & Brian !!!!

Jose is awesome!  I had both a slow draining tub and sink and in 1 1/2 hours- both were just like new!  It was a very thorough, well done job.  As an added bonus--Jose is very nice and pleasant to have in your home.  Just like talking to an old friend....  I would definitely recommend him to everyone!

Do yourself a favor and don't bother calling anyone else...These guys are awesome! Friendly, reasonably priced, and very efficient.... All the qualities you would want in a plumber. Jose is extremely helpful as well and very quick to respond To any questions or concerns. Stay away from Vanguard plumbing and others here on yelp a lot of these people write their own reviews it seems like because when I talk to them, they do not seem very reasonable or professional. I would not hesitate to call Windy City plumbing again if I ever need plumbing work. Highly recommended!

My sincerest thanks to Windy City Plumbing for sticking with me almost all day yesterday trying to resolve the multitude of leaks in my old house.  Brian and team would not quit despite the challenging sewer rodding, unexpected additional leaks discovered, and being faced with new problems at every turn.  They even worked on a stack leak that I hadn't called them in for that they noticed as they were packing up their gear.  They remained professional, on task, and refused to take the easy way out just so they could move to the next client.  It was the kind of service you hope to get, but so often do not.  Call these guys for your next job.  They're good.

Great service.  Quick response time on the call back and setting up the appointment.  The guys were in and out within an hour and that included a trip to the store to get a part.  Left my house in a clean condition.  I'm sure it's hard to find someone you would trust to do your plumbing and I would call them again in a heart beat.

We're glad we called Windy City Plumbing to help with our clogged bathroom sink.  After trying to fix it ourselves with Draino multiple times with no luck, we really needed a professional to get the job done.  Jose was prompt, friendly, and explained every step of the process to me.  We haven't had a problem with our bathroom sink since, and he even checked the tub drain and explained how to avoid clogs in the rusted pipes in our 1927 home.  Upon leaving, he assured us that if we experienced a clog in the same sink again over the next couple months he would be happy to return free of charge to fix it--that's great customer service!  We'll be calling Windy City Plumbing with all of our plumbing needs from now on.

Let me start by saying I'm not one to take time to write reviews, even if I've experienced poor service. With that being said I will keep this short and to the point. If you are in need of a plumber then look no further, Windy City is the answer. After building a new home in the City my wife and I started to notice a sewage smell throughout the house. It started out very faint and month by month was getting stronger and more noticeable. Having very little plumbing experience and after being burned by some very poor plumbers in the past I decided to go on Yelp and do some homework. I quickly noticed that Jose's company had more than 40 excellent reviews so my wife called him on a Monday. Jose came out the very next day, as promised, and within 5 minutes of being in our home identified the numerous problems causing the odor. I won't get into what was causing the smell as no one will really care but I will say this...Jose and his partner explained to us exactly how to remedy the issue without spending any money whatsoever! They spent almost 30 minutes at our home and fully explained to us how we could fix the problem ourselves and in return would NOT accept any money for their time! I honestly felt bad that they wound not even accept a fee for the service call but Jose insisted that it was the way he does business. It's so refreshing to meet stand up honest guys that genuinely care about their customers and treat people in such a professional manner. Take my word for it, if you need a plumber give Jose a shot, you won't be disappointed. Oh, and by the way, I did exactly what he said to do and the smell disappeared within the hour! Best of luck.

Jose responded to my email with a phone call within one hour.  He completed my needed repair (replaced flow valve for my Kohler toilet) in a very timely manner and was very pleasant to deal with.  I was invoiced via email, which was very convenient.  He did a great job at a fair price, I look forward to using them for my future plumbing needs.  I definitely vouch for Windy City Plumbing.

Jose is extremely helpful and honest!  I had a leak in my kitchen and water running under my hardwood floors.  I called Jose to see if he could come out to quickly stop the leak.  Once I explained the issue to him, we weren't sure if it was a plumbing issue or an appliance repair issue.  I texted him a picture of the leak and he immediately called me back.  Rather than coming to the city and charging me for an hours worth of work, he explained how I could fix it myself.  Then he asked that I let him know if my simple repair fixed the leak so he wouldn't be worried about it!  When I hadn't contacted him after a few hours, he texted me to make sure everything was all set!  Very personable, helpful and I could tell he genuinely wanted to help.  I would recommend him to anyone with a plumbing issue
