Best Plumbing Services in Illinois

Usually Yelp doesn't steer me wrong but I guess my luck has finally ran out. I really didn't get anywhere near five star service and value from this plumber's visit. I had an issue with my bathtub being backed up. First they told me they would be at my place after 1pm and then they came 2 hours earlier. Normally thats fine but there was no warning they just showed up at the door unexpectedly. No call or anything.

They proceeded to use a rooter to unclog the plumbing. They arrived at 11:10AM and left by 11:35AM, total time=25 minutes. Now how much would a good plumber charge for something that involved a total of 25 minutes of labor? $100? Maybe $150? How about $255! Yes he wanted over 500 dollars an hour to stick a rooter down a drain. No materials mind you, just labor. Of course I brought that up with him and he gave me the that's what we charge line. What would you like to pay? I replied $150 and he actually barked back Hell no! I'm not coming out on a Saturday for $150! Of course he never mentioned that his rates go up for supposedly coming out on a Saturday until that point. So after a little terse back and forth he let me go with $200. Still way too much in my opinion for the work, professionalism (or lack there of) but at least not quite as obscene.

He didn't even put the stuff back that he took out from under the sink, which for over 400 bucks an hour you'd think he might do. He even had a helper. But I guess that was just too much help. Maybe I should be happy, at over 8 bucks a minute that few minutes of cleaning up could've really added up. Now I get to go upstairs and clean up the mess, fun.  

Maybe I got him on his bad day, I really don't know. He did root the line and the clog seems to be gone. The bath is draining. Still not quite as well as I'd like but decently. He did also mention not to use Drano on these old pipes since it is an acid, unless they have been changed. Well, did he check the pipes? Obviously not since they had been changed years ago to all copper in the house.

He also didn't ask many questions. He didn't seem to care if this might be part of a larger plumbing issue or if there were other factors that might be in play. He seemed to come to root the plumbing, get paid and get out.

Now mind you that I don't often give out such bad reviews. I think this is the second one star review I've ever given out. I would probably had given him two stars but his hell no response kind of negated that. Plus, on the receipt he did not check mark any of the boxes that guarantees his work for at least 30 days. Good to know if I have problems again tomorrow that he will expect at least another 200 bucks. In this little whirl wind of an event he did mention that he was getting too old for this. I guess that's one thing we can both agree on.

The pilot light in the Water Heater went out. My Tenant tried to get re-lit without success. I contacted Jim at FastPlumbing 24/7. He called my Tenant & talked her through it. Problem resolved!! Once again, PROMPT & GREAT SERVICE!!

I had Pete and Noah out to our condo to fix a toilet.  Pete explained the estimate to me and even provided a discount for a potential second piece of work.  While the service at that estimate and appt were top-notch, it was what happened after that impressed me and showed that Pete and Rescue Plumbing more broadly really care about their customers and are committed to providing great work. Shortly after Pete left, I noticed what looked like a scratch at the bottom of the toilet he had fixed.  When I called and reached a manager, they made themselves available to talk on a Sunday evening and said Pete could come out ASAP to look at that and make it right. It turns out it was a scratch from the rubber that would have naturally gone away over time, but Pete still came out to fix it in person and make sure everything looked good.  Rescue Plumbing and Pete have our thanks and appreciation!

Scotty is great! He's always arrived on time and is very communicative. I was making some updates to my kitchen and needed him to install a new sink. He even advised on the size of the sink (he was familiar with my kitchen from a previous visit) and suggested a company to purchase the sink from since I was having trouble finding what I wanted at Home Depot and Lowes.

Appt. scheduled between 1 and 2pm.  Arrived at 12:45 and completed the job in 20 minutes. No mess, no fuss and tech even helped with a running toilet!  Could not be happier with service!!  Highly recommend.

Highly Recommendable. Thomas came to view my sewer and do a sewer scope on a home I was closing on. He was flexible and early. Thomas and crew took his time and is knowledgeable and affordable. All around excellent experience.

While managing several properties in Chicago, I've experienced my fair share of broken commitments and frustrating customer service.  

Windy CIty was a refreshing change:

1) The quote was significantly lower than that given by other plumbers for the same work
2) Actually arrived within the 1 hour window scheduled on two occasions
3) Chris and team were able to coordinate two separate jobs concurrently (one in my unit and one for the building) with no micromanagement needed
4) When the required replacement part was not easily identifiable, Chris removed the part, took it to his supplier for identification, and returned within an hour to ensure that the water didn't remain shut off
5) Mayra who schedules work is extremely responsive, going as far as to respond to emails on the weekend within 30 minutes
6) All transactions, including quotes and receipts, are handled electronically by email

Reliable, professional, and hassle free.  Would highly recommend.

We've used First Chicago a couple times.  Back in May, our sump pump died during some heavy rain.  First Chicago was able to get out that day, and put in a new/solid sump pump at a good price.  They were very consultative, and walked me through what they were seeing with our new house.  They also tested out our backup and showed me that it had died.  We liked them so much that we had them come back recently to install a new backup sump pump system.  Again, they were great to work with this time as well (shout out to Martin for the great work, and taking the time to walk me through everything.) Will definitely use these guys for all our plumbing needs moving forward.

I had several Plumbing Companies look at and bid on my project; completion of a custom shower so installation of the trim and fixtures. It was however a complex custom shower including steam, a ceiling rain shower unit, body spays and more. During the bid process I encountered indifferent, snarky and demeaning plumbers who were not even familiar with the new/ current fixtures. Not Kevin and company, they are current, up to date and knew exactly what to do. Kevin took on the challenge with out blinking and was genuinely and sincerely interested in the challenging job and making us thrilled with the results. The attention to detail and the quality of work delivered was exceptional. When they saw a potential problem they figured out a way to move past it quickly. They were transparent about cost, arrived on time and were a most excellent value based on some of the bids I recieved. Don't trust your home to some out dated, snarky, indifferent plumbing company, no need to call anyone else.

We had an unfortunately Christmas day pipe break for a fridge water line from post freeze thaw (fortunately we were home to see it happen!).  They answered the phone on Christmas Day  - and we didn't need them to come immediately because we had turned off the main water valve, but they came out first thing the next day, fixed the pipe and discussed longer term solutions for prevention. Second time using them - they are responsive, punctual, communicative and very nice people.

Had a problem with sump pump causing overflow and creating a real big mess and urgent situation. Contacted Kevin through Yelp after hours, in few minutes he told me that Dan is on his way. In one hour not that they fixed the issue but Dan was also able to replace the noisy valve on the spot for a very fair price. Tremendous respect for these guys. I can honestly say - this was by far The best, easiest and fastest service experience that we ever had with any type of contractors!

couldn't even get this guy to commit to go out there. he suggested i contact the original installer......duh, i did which is why i contacted them.  No one wants to work these days.

Brandon did a great job in fixing my shower head that had been broken for over a year. They were at my condo within an hour of calling and fixed the problem in just a few minutes. Will be calling them back to install my toilet. Would highly recommend!

Super fast, reasonably priced, and they did great work. Sims and Sons were immediately responsive and came out same day to provide a quote for electrical work needed on our home. We had multiple issues that needed to be addressed and within 24 hours of reaching out to them, everything was fixed by Darrell and his team. I definitely recommend them. #Wutang

Excellent plumbing company. We will use them again for all our plumbing needs. They diagnosed the problem quickly and cleared a clogged sewer line. Very professional and honest.

Poor communication also. Dimitri said he'd think about it, when I proposed a resolution where they paid for part and I'd pay for part of it. Then ghosted me. Also was very aggressive and mocking on the phone. Not someone you want to do business with.

Homeownership of an old house from 1930s, even in normal times, can be nerve-racking with many unknowns causing stress and difficulty in risk management. Noel is, quite simply, the best.  He is honest, affordable, reliable, and professional.  When a bathroom ceiling pipe broke in our building, he came out the very next day.  He quickly identified the problem and went to work.  It turned out to be a much larger project that anyone expected (6 hours), but he remained calm, completed every step of the job beautifully, and left the place as clean as he found it.  I would HIGHLY recommend him to anyone who needs plumbing help.
