Henshaw Electric Electrician
Yelp's localization does a disservice to contractors since the best of the best probably don't live in your immediate neighborhood.

John Henshaw and his crew qualify as the best of the best. Plus, he's a master electrician. (see tiny.cc/jhenshaw)

Now, let's be honest, We all want the most for our pennies and we may think that hiring a handyman to install simple things like fans make economic sense.  Think again. Hiring a licensed electrician is not that much more (Last i checked Henshaw Electric charged $150 per fan; the half-wit handyman I hired through craigslist charged $100 per fan. SInce I had to get Henshaw to re-hang said fan it actually cost me $250), He also grounded all the plugs in & around my computer and installed a surge suppressor in the electric box to safeguard all my stuff.

And yes, a licensed guy will charge a few bucks more but they are worth every penny. I can sleep at night knowing my fan or stove or whatever isn't going to burst into flames.

Umana Electric Electrician
I've hired Ramon Umana twice since we went into contract for our new home.  He's dependable, professional, and courteous.  He emails to set up appointments too.  Ramon has rewired a number of outlets in my home, installed new lighting, and repaired faulty work done by another electrician.  I recommend him!

RS Electric LLC Electrician
Needed an electrician at the last min. and Ray was available within a few short hrs. He fixed my electrical problem, installed a ceiling fan for me, and gave me helpful advice/suggestions. I didn't shop around for price but his fees are reasonable in my opinion. Thanks for your service Ray!

Hensley Electric Electrician
New to Texas and so it has been hard finding good referrals when we don't know anyone. We found Phillips website online and contacted him about a quote to hardwire our hot tub and put in a new electrical outlet.

(Note we were already frustrated as one company we called doesn't do quote, only hourly/materials without looking at it to say if it will be huge cost and another company took 2 weeks to come out (after multiple calls and promises) and give a quote, but when we immediately tried to book they said they were backed up with working on swim pool hookups. So before reaching Phillip, I wasn't very positive on electricians).

phillip called me right back (+), said he could come out next aftrernoon for the quote (+), and 30 minutes before arrival, he called to make sure I would still be available at our planned time (+).

He did careful review of what we wanted done and prepared a great quote. And then came immediately out to do the work. He was on time and a few hours into it, found out we were was missing a part (we were using some parts from our old installation), he made sure I understood timeline of when he would be back (45 minutes, not just another day) and was able to finish the project as planned.

I can't recommend Phillip enough for the quality of work, but also his communication skills and professionalism when working on our electrical. He will definitely treat your project the way you want! Now if I can just find a equally good plumber!

Rubio Electric Electrician
I have used Rubio Electric many times and consistently gotten great customer service. It's run very professionally. I always get a quick callback from the owner, Justin, and he always gets over to help quickly. He is polite, follows up to make sure everything is ok, cleans up, sends a clear, professional invoice, and has never failed to do anything but excellent work. I recently needed some work and not only did he promise a start time, I got a confirmation phone call and text confirming it. This time two of his employees came. They confirmed their arrival, were polite, clean, extra helpful, gave me additional clear instructions for what I needed to do, and were very nice and friendly - and professional - to deal with.  If only more contractors could do the same. Justin and his team installed Ring devices (some walls had to be opened up), and did other interior work. I will always use and recommend them in the future.

Shane was great and really worked within my budget. I had his guys add some outdoor electrical outlets, fans, and more. They Ensured it was water tight, used good materials and followed code. I appreciate the hard work his guys did, they were here until 8:30PM to ensure they completed the job, and did it right! I'll be using Murphy's electric again.

REM Electric Electrician
I dealt with Ralph at REM electric and was so impressed with his customer service.  Highly recommend Ralph and REM electric for their expertise,  professionalism and ETHICAL approach to business.  They helped us with our back up generator. VERY REASONABLE. I made the mistake of calling 2 other electricians, before I finally found REM. Learn from my mistake.

Mister Sparky Electrical Electrician
Had a GFI outlet than needed replacing for an outdoor fountain. Called Friday morning and an electrician was out around noon- and they called to say he was on the way. Good customer service, polite schedulers and nice/quick service. Only thing may have been the set price. $238 to come out and replace the GFI unit which took all of 10minutes.

3 Guys Electric & Insulation Electrician
The company is great.  Came out to give me an estimate to insulate my attic and gave me several options.  I had the Radiant Barrier installed. They were booked for the next few weeks but Luis got me in earlier because of a cancellation.  The guys went out and did a terrific job.  They were very neat, clean and efficient.  Very respectful of my home.  They should me the finished work and it really did look good.  Luis called to follow up with me and make sure that I was pleased with the work.  I would recommend this company and would certainly use them again.

Universal Home Experts Electrician
Reason we called:
1. Dishwasher was not turning on
2. Disposal not turning on
Not a plumbing issue

Day 1: My wife looks this company up and it showed good reviews so we went with it. They were very kind and knowledgeable. We were told that they are not the cheapest but we are paying for quality work and a long lasting product and everything will work when they are finished. As they were inspecting the electrical box he needed to test to see if it was the breaker shorting out so he switched the line to another on. Sure enough when he did that the disposal was working but the dishwasher did not. As he was eliminating problems he caused the washer to stop working. He said sorry and then continued to tell us the problems we had. We needed a new breaker box in the end and went ahead with the work (6,000$). The workers came and installed the new breaker box, fixed the problem with the disposal and fixed the dishwasher. I say that because when they installed an outlet for the dishwasher to plug into, that caused it to not fit in its original place. I told the guy who was working on the dishwasher, but he just continued on with his work and left the dishwasher out(after telling him it would not fit).As they were fixing the dishwasher they then broke a water line.they called, and I advised him of what happened and he asked if I wanted to fix it myself or if I wanted to get one of there plumbers. I told him I wanted a plumber. The plumber arrived and said that it would be an hour to get the part and fix it. He left and was gone for over 2 hours. It was evening by this time..They fixed the water drain pipe but still did not fix the issue where it would not fit in its original place causing drawers not to open..Right before they left I asked if they had labeled all the breakers. Sure enough I get told oh did you want to do that? these guys clearly did not want to stick around and finish what they started. I was told that the wiring for the dryer was not correct and as long as we don't use the dryer all day long over and over again we would be ok (exact words) and to expect the dryer to flip the breaker if we do that. After that and the box now labeled they left. Later my wife tried the dishwasher. As soon as she turned it on she noticed something wrong, It was leaking water all over the floor and a bad burning smell. I then tried to start a load for drying and within a couple seconds it shut off. I went to the breaker box, flipped the switch and tried again thinking maybe it was just a hiccup. Sure enough what they said before was completely inaccurate and even turning the dryer on would flip the switch.

Problems after day 1
1.Dishwasher leaking water on floor
2.Dishwasher does not fit in same spot
3.Drawers do not open(due to dishwasher)
4.Dryer does not stay on.

Day 2: Called Universal Home Experts. They arrived shortly after with a million apologies and there word to have it all fixed by the end of the day. As they checked the house for the reason the dryer wasn't working he advised us that it was because aluminum wiring and not the correct size for an electrical dryer and we now need new wiring so the power wont shut off the dryer. We were told that the boss only wants to charge us for the wiring since they had to come back and fix everything. The cost for just the wiring was over 1000. Seemed a little steep but at this point, but had no choice unless we wanted to hire a new company and wait while water was all over the place and unable to dry clothes..We agreed and they came that same day and repaired/fixed everything.

Day 3: after we had our nice new wiring I decided to go out and get new outlets and light switches to kind of update the house. As I was turning the power off to the areas I needed I noticed I didn't have a living room according to the breaker box..I decided to just shut everything off and continue with what I was doing, as I did not have time to go though all the breakers. When I got to the back part of the house (kids room) it was getting a little warm so I just decided to turn the AC on and a few rooms to get the air flowing. Sure enough the breaker box was labeled wrong, the kids room was on wrong breaker, the fridge was on wrong breaker, and no living room. Called AGAIN got it fixed three days later.

Sam is very nice and knowledgeable.
The workers need serious supervision.

Set yourself on fire before ever doing business with this John Henshaw clown.

Tesla Electrical Services, LLC Electrician
Tried to reach the company for 1 week, left numerous messages when their phones were working . Never received a call back.

If they can't even answer their phones, I doubt they can complete a job properly and if you had trouble you would never be able to reach them.

DO NOT USE.

Heights Electric Electrician
I wish there was an option to give no stars because totally disgusted is more my sentiments.

We know a commercial electrician and went with Heights Electric because we trusted our commercial electrician's recommendation. We should have headed the poor review here when we read it but we thought we'd give Charlie and his team the benefit of the doubt especially because they are a local business. Here's my advice to others: DO NOT HIRE HEIGHTS ELECTRIC.

His workmen were definitely polite and capable. They did a great job at not tearing up our home. However, the billing was underhanded and shifty.

1. They arrived later than discussed. No phone call, just arrived late.
2. 2 workers, 1 who does all of the work and the other that runs to the truck and back.
3. Charlie charged for his own showing up and standing around.
4. We were charged an hour for the Free quote when it was their doing that they came in and took the old fixture down to see what they might be dealing with.
5. We were quoted a price range and ended up having to negotiate above the highest end of the range. Charlie claims it was because the job turned out to be harder than expected and they were working late hours and we were actually getting a discount. (may I remind you, they showed up late and the timing was understood when we were quoted)
6. If the job was harder/was going to cost more, that should have been stated when they realized this. Several times we asked if everything was alright and the response was yes.
7. Our bill didn't even have my name right. Not even just a misspelling- totally different names. Really.
8. We heard a loud crack and there's a very good possibility that our nice fixture was broken at that time but we were not in the same room so there's no telling.
9. Seeing as the fixture was damaged, the job is still not done. They offered to come back and install for an additional $100. No thank you.

Our father is a contractor and a former EE- it's too bad he doesn't live even remotely close. When you give a quote, you work in the possibility of a job being harder than it should be or you let the customer know at that time, not at the end when you charge.

We've had great luck with other area businesses but will not be using Heights Electric again.  Completely unprofessional, underhanded, and nothing the Heights should be proud of.
