Norb & Sons Electric Electrician
I like utilizing local businesses in my community so I reached out to Norb & Sons for a number of misc electrical projects/needs I had at my home. Booking the date was prompt, reminder/confirmation call prior to appointment to verify, prompt arrival by technician.

Work was done in a timely manner and when needed, my input was asked by the repairman.

I could not be more pleased, excellent service at an affordable rate. Thank you Norb & Sons!

In and Out Handyman Specialist Electrician
Eligio did a really great job installing our water filtration system that involved reconfiguring sink plumbing and drilling a hole through the granite countertop. Everything works great and looks great as well!

Gadertech Electric Electrician
These guys are great. I needed a pretty simple job done that several other companies tried to inflate to something huge, but they understood exactly what needed to be done and were prompt, neat, and polite. They communicate exactly what they're going to do and answer any questions without making you feel dumb for asking. And, of course, they do good work!

Excellent service. Excellent communication. They worked with my schedule instead of forcing me to work with theirs. Very friendly and accommodating. I would use them again

Blacktech Solutions Corp Electrician
I recently had an emergency situation and was able to reach these guys. At the time I would have let anybody help me but I'm glad they answered. It turns out the problem was minor and they were honest enough to tell me that. I appreciate the honesty and great service.

All Phases Electrical Construction Services Electrician
Had a GFCI trip during the night for no apparent reason, nothing running at the time.
Called to request that it be checked out. Showed up within 20 minutes, did a thorough evaluation and very reassuring.
Will definitely add to my address book for future use.

Advantage Electric Electrician
I found Mark back in 2007.  I called 10 electricians to come do some work at my 100 year old electrical nightmare of a house in Wheaton.  He was the only one that wasn't scared off by the spaghetti factory of wiring that has plagued the house over the years.  Little by little we have been slowly correcting and upgrading the house.  I also use him for my house as well as my other rental property in Glen Ellyn too.  Honest and easy to work with.

Lincoln Home Services Electrician
For the very reason of NOT getting services from Lincoln Home Services is why they're getting 5 stars. Eugene took the time to walk me through a few steps I should try before he came out.  He was patient, listened to my problem, and then encouraged me to try two things before having him come to my place.  He was also clear that if those two steps didn't work, he would be to me THAT day.  In contrast, another place I called before Eugene asked all my contact information for billing purposes before they even asked what my electrical problem was.  So, while I didn't technically use Eugene, he still solved my problem, and I will ABSOLUTELY call him again when I have an electrical problem that I can't resolve.  Incredible service for a person who wasn't even a customer.  THANK YOU Eugene!

Pure Voltage, Inc. Electrician
I used Pure Voltage to convert my electrical panel from fuses to circuit breakers, and to upgrade the electrical outlets in my home.  It was a big job, as it entailed relocating the electric meter and setting up new wiring.  They did an excellent and efficient job.  They were professional and personable, totally responsive to any concerns that I had. It was a pleasure to work with them and I would highly recommend their services.

Aspire Electric Electrician
We hired Brian to complete a punch list of electrical items. The written contract that was agreed upon was for around $3800. The work was supposed to be completed around October 15th per the contract.  It didn't get done til February 12th.  That's FOUR months late.

Now let's talk about money. The final bill ended up being $13,500.00. That's not a typo. Thirteen thousand five hundred dollars. We were shocked when we received the bill. We asked him what happened to the contract. He said there were other issues that had to be corrected and the contract says any other issues are billed at $90/ hour. Fair enough, but the first time he told us about the other issues is when the final invoice was rendered. We never even had a chance to authorize or approve these additional issues to be corrected.

This guy pretty much ripped a page out of our checkbook and wrote himself a blank check. DO NOT let this happen to you. Never sign an open ended contract with this contractor or any other contractor, otherwise, you will be the one to get shocked at the end.

Frank Electric Co Electrician
If a zero was possible, that is what I would give this contractor.  I hired him to install under cabinet lights.  He came out with an obviously untrained apprentice who did all of the work while he sat and barked out orders -- screaming at him much of the time.  At one point the apprentice was lost and did not know what to do.  Rather than helping him, he responded -- figure it out idiot and sat there staring at him.  Eventually, I started helping the apprentice myself.  He then billed me over a $1000.  Shortly after I received the bill, he called demanding payment.  I explained that I felt I was overbilled.  But, I agreed to pay him $700 that night if he would consider it payment in full.  He agreed, but has continued sending me invoices for allegedly past due amounts and has even filed a mechanics lien on my house.  Do not use this bully.

DH Electric Co. Electrician
I agree with the previous review. Don't be wary of this guy. Just don't do business with him. He also asked us for 60% in advance. OK, I wasn't born yesterday. Nobody asks for 60% in advance. I asked him why it was so high. He said he had to buy supplies. We were installing lighting that we purchased. So what are we talking about - some electrical boxes and some wire?
He was supposed to be at our house at 10am. He called at 9:45 and said that he had some calls that delayed him and that he'd be about 2 hours late. He showed up at 12:30. Then he said that the lights (that I purchased from a reputable lighting company) were no good and that he couldn't install them. I went out to Home Depot and purchased 3 lights for the front closet. He didn't even try to put those in. He just left and said to call him when I had lights for the other closets. Why didn't he even try to put the other light in?
I went out that night and purchased 3 other lights from the lighting company we had previously been to and called Dino to let him know that we had new lighting. We set up an appointment for 1pm on Friday. Dino texted me on Thursday night to confirm that we were still on for Friday. I told him that we were still on.
At 11:26 Dino texted me that he had an emergency panel upgrade and that he would be 2 hours late. 2 hours late seems to be standard for him. Now I am not one of those people who carry my phone with me everywhere I go so I was unable to respond immediately to Dino. By the time I responded to him, he said that he had already made other plans and that he couldn't be sitting around waiting for my reply. Oh, sitting around like I had done for 2 days waiting for him to show up?
He offered to come to the house at 8am the next day (Saturday). Although I was extremely leery at this point, I told him that he could come to the house and finish the job. I told him that I expected him at 8am and that this was his final chance to do the job.
He went ballistic (just as the previous reviewer said, this nut job has a temper) and told me to keep the job and get somebody else to do it. Then he told me that he was going to put a lien on the house for the work done. Then he said that he was going to call the village because I didn't get permits. Let's see, if I needed permits to put lights in, don't you think my licensed electrician should have told me that?
Stay far, far away from this lunatic.

Advance Area Service Electrician
I would never recommend Advance Area Service to anyone! The worker
who appears to be the person who operates this business was extremely
rude, and unprofessional. I recommended his services to assist an elderly family member, and he treated her like crap. He was rude, disrespectful, and
crass. He speaks to his customers with a negative tone and does not like
you asking him questions about the job you paid him for. He takes advantage of elderly people, by taking their money and informing them if there is a problem with his work, he will continue to charge them if he has to come back to correct his mistakes or inadequacies. He is particularly impolite to women, especially elderly ones. Be aware of this business and its services!!!!!!!!

Kinslow Smith Inc Electrician
We've had a horrible experience with KINSLOWSMITH INC. My spouse and I don't write bad reviews and try to resolve things with businesses in other ways.  However, our situation with Ed and KINSLOW SMITH has been so sloppy, fraudulent, unreliable, unethical and incomplete that we feel people need to be warned before ever hiring Kinslow Smith.  First and foremost, the work wasn't complete. We paid thousands and thousands of dollars for Kinslow to rewire our house and we've since found cloth wire.  We've emailed, texted and called Ed to come out and properly rewire our house and he has not come back to fix the fact that there are still cloth wires in our home.  Second, when we contacted Ed to buy his Angie's List deal, he told us to contact him directly instead of going through Angie's List.  We didn't think anything of this at the time, but now we realize this was shady. He wanted to be paid up front - before any work was done and left Angie's list out of the deal. Though we paid for a package - he ended up sending us an invoice for over $3,000 at the end of the job. His office listed a bunch of services that he never discussed with us or quoted to us. It was an unexpected, complete shock - much of it totally unethical.  For instance, on our initial walk through he told us he was going to put a used breaker box in our basement from another job - or we could buy a new one for a few hundred dollars.  However, he ended up charging us $1,598 for a new circuit box. He never told us about this or got this approved.  Another frustration is that Ed left us without heat for 24 hours in the middle of Chicago's frigid winter of 2014 - and I'm pregnant.  He was NEVER at our house to oversee his crew.  His crew was constantly telling us that they didn't know how to do this or that and couldn't proceed without Ed.  This was true of the thermostat as well. We would text, call and email Ed to come over to our house to help his guys and he'd say he'd be there in an hour, but he'd never show up. Sometimes, he'd promise us that he'd arrive for days straight - and never arrive.  On the day we were left without heat, we begged Ed to come over because his guys weren't sure how to properly handle the thermostat wiring. He ended up coming and telling us it was fixed, and it wasn't. We had a huge holiday party at our house that night and the temperature in our home was plummeting into the 40's. We had to hire another electrician to come out and help us. At our initial walk through, Ed said our job would take 5-7 days. It ended up taking over 2 months and it is STILL NOT DONE.  We now have the added expense of having an electrical inspector coming out next week to determine how much cloth wire is still inside our property. As we've given Ed numerous opportunities to come and fix his crew's negligence, we now have no choice but to get lawyers involved. Working with Kinslow Smith has been a homeowner's nightmare. It's been shady from start to finish and we feel as though we've been scammed by his company - paying thousands of dollars for work that wasn't ever completed.

Hyde Park Electrical Electrician
This electrical service company has extremely poor customer service. I DO NOT recommend proceeding with them.

They're technician cancelled the appointment and no accommodation was made in the service fee charge for a rescheduled appointment.

Their company was able to inconvenience me so I was without air conditioning and did not believe any accommodation should be made.
