Best Plumbing Services in Washington, DC
Classic nightmare plumbing contractor experience. Unexpected because we'd used them a couple of years ago for quite a bit of plumbing work & had great experiences. Last fall, when we decided to remodel our bathrooms, we counted on our past experiences with them more than the current negative Angie's List & Yelp plumbing reviews. That was a big mistake.
Day 1 - 2 plumbers arrive 2 hours late but worked steadily on the first bathroom to install the tub, piping, & durock walls. Several issues but the primary - the piping didn't line up with one another by inches & the tub leaked! They couldn't make repairs immediately due to other scheduled jobs - Huh? They had a 50% deposit for both bathrooms, so we wanted to be patient. After a couple of weeks, one plumber, 2 hours late. He stripped out the durock, the tub & the piping to start again - leaving the house a couple of times. After 3-4 hours, he told us he couldn't stay to finish & bailed in a huff when my husband went up to find out why. The work he had 'done' was horrible.
Then the true nightmare began - trying to get our money back. Despite pictures and our request for management to come & review the work done (they refused) Dana & her brothers (voices in the background) felt the work to date was quality work & only a nominal refund was due from the 2 bathroom deposit we'd placed with them. The Bowmans acknowledged that there was no piping in place, no installed tub, no walls, no tile work, no work begun on the 2nd bathroom & no other plumbers on staff. Just 1 plumber (who started mid 2013) & 1 plumber's assistant. These guys were in over their head with this job.
Finally, Dana offers to call in a sub-contractor to handle our 2 bathroom contract with Bowman's - we'd 'begin fresh'. Again, we're trying to be reasonable - we agree. He comes out - on time. He's horrified by the evidence left by the Bowman's plumbers & talks to us about what's needed. We gave him a copy of the Bowman quote for the 2 bathrooms - feel pretty positive about him (& start our research on his company).
Two days later & unexpectedly, we receive a full refund check and a note to work directly with the sub-contractor. He in turn advises us the one bathroom will cost 50% maybe more than the Bowman's contract & he doesn't really like written quotes....

Responsive, respectful, and got the job down quickly. I couldn't ask for better service. Fixed a clog toilet and checked sink''s water pressure ($170).

Awesome service, thank you! Asked for my availability upon scheduling, advised he would Call 15 minutes prior to arriving. Called and arrived at the front end of the window of timing I had provided, which ultimately meant I could get on with my day after the repair.
Provided upfront quote after assessing and then diligently completed the repair like a champ. It's been over a month and the repair has held solid. (Had a bath/shower faucet Combo that would not shut off... was constantly running).
He's awesome, prices are reasonable- highly recommend!
How many service providers actually arrive when you ask and do an excellent job on the 1st and only visit??...seriously! This one is beyond awesome!
PS- Yelp buries his reviews simply because he doesn't have a paid subscription... all are valid - check him out on NextDoor...

I was able got get an appointment within days for a relatively big job. Two plumbers worked well together and finished up within hours. They cleaned up when they were done. I was very pleased. I will use them again in the future. I recommend them. Bobbie was great!

We had them come in and replace the thermostat on our water heater. They did excellent work, and the workers were very courteous both on and off the phone. They showed up on time and the cost we paid was a little under what we were quoted.
The only complaint was that they do bill per half hour on the labor, and the work completed only took a half hour, but we were billed for a full hour of labor anyway.

I'm back with my 2nd review of Nate's Plumbing Service. I called Nate and made an appointment to get my fridge connected to my water line. Nate was prompt as usual and did a fantastic job. In no time at all had had the water line hooked up (had to drill through my kitchen floor to the basement) and I am now able to get filtered water and ice from my fridge. I would recommend Nate's Plumbing to all my friends and family. He's worth every 5 star rating.

I would like to add my positive opinion to all the others on Yelp. George Calabrese answered the phone himself, when I called. He listened to my description of the problem: hot water coming out of cold water taps. He diagnosed the problem as a worn out mixer valve in the shower and came and fixed it very promptly. He is tidy, efficient, reliable, and friendly and his prices are reasonable. Alleluia!

I was pleasantly surprised by Otech. Everyone was respectful, and they gave great advice. They didn't try selling anything that I didn't need.

Great service and so pleasant to work with. Examined everything and took pictures to show me what needed to be done. He knew exactly what I needed to do to because this was for a condominium. I would definitely recommend to anyone .

Cardinal plumbing came out on time and was very efficient and knowledgeable. Completed the work in a timely fashion. Daniel was great to deal with.
We had the hot water shut off valve under our kitchen sink leaking and Daniel replaced it.
Very satisfied and would highly recommend Daniel and Cardinal plumbing.

It was great to work with George from Ahoy Plumbing. He responded quickly and was able to fix (replace) our sump pump the next day, saving us from another flooded basement that evening. He confidently answered all questions and got the work done without issues. We received warranty issue for the sump and a thorough description of everything that was done. Nice electronic payment/invoice system.

Had to get water pipes going from the outside bibbs on the front and the back done, along with updating the shutoff valves on the bathroom. The sinks and bathrooms were checked to make sure everything is up to code and no issues.
The work quality is excellent and recommend to do business!

They are my go-to for Heating, A/C and plumbing. I have had a furnace replaced, A/C unit install and a leak in my basement ceiling that were all fixed quickly and cheaper than others in the area. I switch to CB Lucas after getting outrageous quotes from one of their competitors who I use to have come out twice a year. Once I finally needed work that company gave me outrageous prices and told me to be wary of others who did it for less. C.B. Lucas has always gone above and beyond.

What a disappointment. This used to be the premier stone showroom in DC. Sadly, the Georgetown Waterworks staff is burned out, error prone and utterly indifferent to quality or customer service.
In attitude and execution Waterworks management says every day: we really, really do not need your $ business.
Try Ann Saks or Architessa.

Another Quality Job by Stevens! We thought the hot water heater was not heating properly since the shower was not hot. Our tech arrived on time. They explained the troubleshooting and tested the water temperature everywhere and the shower about 10% lower that the rest. The replacement value was on the truck and the problem resolved in under two hours. Very Professional, knowledgeable and courteous. Highly recommended!

I was a longtime customer of Moran's Refrigeration and came to FH Furr when they purchased Moran's. It was fine at first, but I'm seeing an increasing pressure for the techs on the HVAC side to upsell. On the plumbing side, run far far far away. Prices are crazy high. Bottom line: FH Furr is a sales organization under the guise of a service organization. They remind me of timeshare salespeople.

To be brief, I called Grayton to repair very minor leaks in two toilets. When I set up the appointment and explained the problem, they told me there would be a $75 service fee. I clarified and they told me (in writing) that it was an estimate of the repair costs.
The plumber arrived an hour earlier than scheduled on a Saturday morning and woke us up. Annoyed, I let him in, went to get dressed and when I came back 5 minutes later, he was asleep. Yes, asleep.
When I woke him up, he explained (after having looked for 2 minutes at my toilets) that I would need to pay a flat rate of $279 for each toilet. When I refused the service and told him I could replace both toilets for less than that, he then added that he'd forgotten another $199 for each toilet, for total of nearly $1,000 to fix two very minor leaks.
This is when they explained that the service fee was a showing up fee. I paid the fee, then wrote the company to explain what happened and make sure they understood the difference between and estimate and a fee for just showing up. I've written them twice in three weeks, with no response.
Put simply, they charge this fee because their prices are astronomical and many people must refuse service. But they need to learn not to call it an estimate.
Either way, be sure to call a different plumber.
