Experienced and good work, however they have gotten way too high in price. Well uese someone else.

I think this place is run by a plumber and his wife, which is pretty cool.  We called because we were having problems with our garbage disposal -- before she even sent her husband out to take a look, she took us step by step on how to fix our certain model.  No charge.  And our garbage disposal works now!  I love these guys!  So knowledgeable, and so honest to help us out first before charging us to come out.  I am a very thankful customer, even if I never paid. :D

I called H&S because I was tired of getting near $1,000 invoices from F.H. Furr and because I wanted to support a local Herndon business. Thankfully I was not disappointed.

My sump-pump drain line clogged and David came out and used the electric snake on it. He was friendly and knowledgeable and told me that it may clog again unless I take action and then proceeded to explain to me three different options for solving the problem permanently.

Highly recommended for their fast and courteous service! I will definitely use them again for all of my plumbing needs.

We wanted to get ahead of our water dying on us, so we reached out to several big names across the region based on Yelp and Nextdoor reviews. Though their rating isn't currently too high here on Yelp, H&S had good mentions on Nextdoor. Our of the many local plumbers we spoke to and emailed with, H&S Plumbing was the most polite and receptive to my questions. While other plumbers almost seemed upset that I asked them questions about different model types, H&S answered my questions and quickly had 2 quotes for me, based on my model preference. This was the differentiator for me and we chose them to take care of our install. The technicians that came were polite and quick with their work, they even went above and beyond to repair a leaking pipe free of charge. I appreciated the way H&S did business and am even more pleased with the high quality of their product and service. I will be calling them back for any future plumbing work I need!

I would give these guys 0 stars, if I could. This review is based on a call to these guys i just made.  CUSTOMER SERVICE SUCKS.  I hung up on the lady. If I can't even get a half a$$ed pleasant tone and my INITIAL contact with you via phone was one of annoyance on your end (did I interrupt your soaps, by chance?), there's no possible way I'm allowing it to go further.  NO warm fuzzies there.  You, my dear woman, lost a customer that was willing to pay you.  I work hard for my money...I don't CARE if I'm interrupting your soaps.  Aren't you trying to run a business????

First time I called, I was hung up on.  I call back, giving them the opportunity to redeem themselves because it may have been an accident.  I call back again, a couple seconds later and the older sounding lady answers 'Hello..?'

Me: Is this H&S Plumbing?
Her: 'Yeeessss..?'
Me: 'I have a possible leak.... are you busy or something??'
Her: 'Busy?' (insert pissy tone here)
Me:  'Yes.. are you in the middle of something??  You sound upset and distracted like you're busy.'
Her: 'Um.. I don't...'
Me: 'You know what..never mind.  I'll find someone else'

Great job, lady!  Keep up that charming personality and fantastic customer service!  NOT!

My husband stopped in here for some plumbing supplies tonight and said the person who helped him gave him GREAT service and advice. My husband is NOT a plumber by any stretch (I was afraid we'd be without water for a few days after he messed with things) and he got the problem fixed in 15 minutes after the sage advice from the person working behind the counter. For that alone, I would highly recommend this place to any and all! :0)

As of October 2011, Washington Checkbook says out of 486 reviews, 86% have said these guys were superior in overall performance. They recieved a great quality score, average on price. I had them fix an outside faucet years ago, still works great. I just called them to schedule a sink replacement.

These folks are great!

Not only do they stock parts for the older houses in Fairfax, particulary Reston and Herndon, they also refer you to people when they know there are experts for particular jobs.  I had been to them before for odd parts that I know they have in stock.  They stock all the old parts as well as the new ones!

I needed a floor drain cleaned and was worried it is from my flat roof in one of Reston's older clusters.

After calling one of the national chains for a roto-root, I was given an estimate of $400 to clear the drain with a standard roto-root, but was also quoted a price of $800 for a possible need for a full power flush.

H&S very kindly referred me to Hicks Plumbing in Fairfax, VA.  Please look up Hicks if you have a stuffed floor drain!

The kind folks at Hicks were at my house the same day and provided excellent service.  The service cost $210 versus $400/$1,200 from the national chain.

You know you are dealing with real people when they refer you to someone else who is more qualified for a job..

Three cheers for H&S Plumbing!!!  

Go to them first before trying one of the big chains.

I gotta say, these guys were about the best plumbing experience I have ever had. Had a leak around sump pump this morning, and expecting rain tomorrow, was desperate to get somebody in quickly. I called another local company, Liberty Plumbing, that I had used in the past. They were all booked up for today, so I asked them for a recommendation. Of all things, they said that they don't offer recommendations. Great customer service.

Anyways, a friend suggested H&S. Not only did they show up about an hour later, they were very reasonably priced, especially when compared with what I paid Liberty last time for similar time/work. The plumber they sent was fantastic.

So I wholeheartedly recommend H&S Plumbing. I could not have expected a better experience.

I had a simple plumbing job that I could not do myself. H&S did the job well, fast, at a reasonable price and with a minimum of drama and up-selling. Our experience this time reminded me that we had a similar experience with them two years ago on a more complicated job, but same outcome: They arrived when they said they would. They did the job well. They talked frankly with us. They charged a reasonable fee.

If you're looking for a plumber, stop your search. This is the outfit to use.

This was my first experience with H& S Plumbing and it was a good one.
I got a call in the morning from a gentleman telling me that my service rep. was loading his truck and would be on his way shortly.   In a few minutes, the service rep named Gary arrived and quickly got started with replacing flappers and faucet cartridges in on bathroom. He did not have one replacement flapper with him but someone brought one very quickly.
A cutoff valve had to be replaced in one bath and Gary; a 35 year veteran of H&S took that in stride as he did all of the other work.
I was happy with Gary's work and the price seemed to be reasonable.
I'll be using H&S in the future.

These people are great.  I have had them do work once before and they were honest with me, didn't overcharge and were prompt and timely with the work.  I am having them come out again soon.  I also like that they can get you in quickly.  I would definitely recommend them!

BEWARE: Horrible customer service and very rude staff.

We've tried using this store 3 times over the past few months for either repair work or in an attempt to purchase something and every time we've ended up going somewhere else. We genuinely tried giving this store a chance by trying it a few times but for some odd reason, one of which I will never understand, these people feel the need to act annoyed by a customers mere presence. God forbid you ask them a question, prepare yourself for a sarcastic reply.

My advice, spare yourself the humiliation and unneeded attitude.

We reached out as we had a toilet that needed repairing. The tech came out and spent 5 minutes and had no idea how to work on a higher end toilet. Indicated he needed to order a part and they would call when in. We waited a month and called another plumber. 5 months later they send us a bill for $150 for what they are calling a service call. They have now sent us 5 bills and are threatening collections when they did zero work. I called and they say they left an estimate via voice mail with an estimate we never received. Their policy is not to send one in writing. Why did they not call and indicate it was going to take 5 months? No idea. They have no evidence they ever sent us an estimate or of anything else. Looking forward to small claims court as this will be a slam dunk. Avoid at all costs.  They are working in the stone ages. Who can live without a toilet for 5 months.

When I needed plumbing services, H & S Plumbing responded quickly and performed the services very professionally at a reasonable price.

Woohoo! As good as it gets! .More than one time now I needed parts and  and almost before i said a word i was looking at a new part, .just from one look at the broken part in my hand .The nice folks at HS sent me home to DIY and even offered advice for free. When i cant handle a job with my plumbing i am going to call H&S.

Called them to replace a broken toilet flange and they came out with in an hour, job was done quickly and correctly and at a fair price. Would Highly recommend them to anyone needing plumbing services.

H&S fixed a tub faucet and replaced a broken flange under my toilet. The quality of work was first rate and their rates are very reasonable. I will continue to use them for my plumbing needs.

H&S was quick to respond and fixed our plumbing problems.  The work has been done properly and now I don't worry.  Gary came out.  Very professional, knowledgable. I recommend them and would use them again.

Very expensive.

The guys was at the house for an hour, and charged $220. He pretty much just opened a panel next to the tub, shined a light through the house, and walked around.

Nothing was fixed....

Didn't know plumbers go for this kind of rate nowadays...maybe i need a new job?

At least the guy and the old lady at the office were nice.

Irving, the owner of the business, took my order in a very prompt manner. Told me what he was going to do and did it. Even more impressive, he told me he would call @ 8:30 a.m. on the service day and provide me with a two-hour window of when I could expect service. He called exactly at 8:30 a.m., provided me the information and the service was performed within the projected timeframe. In addition, the plumber was excellent as we also asked him to address another issue, which he did promptly and with expertise. Would recommend any time....

We have been loyal customers of H & S Plumbing for years. Last week we had a problem and once again they were there to promptly fix it.
Gary, the Service Tech, is knowledgeable as well as a nice person.

This is my first choice plumbing company. My neighbors also had great experience with them.

I called the office and scheduled the work easily. The lady answering the phone was very kind and helpful. I received a call from the plumber that he was on his way. He replaced a faucet and its lines and valves quickly and professionally.

Overall it was a an excellent job done. I will keep using this company for future projects. I highly recommend them.

I went to their showroom to get some special parts that are not available at Home Depot and other chains. There was a lady that did no leave her desk and shouted that the plumber will come to help me. After a while the plumber helped me to find the correct parts. The price is reasonable, he was not overly friendly but helped me good enough to get going.

I was trying to find a part for my kitchen faucet.  The first time I went, Irving wasn't there.  His wife told me that he would probably need the make before he would be able to tell me about the part and she took my number so she could let me know when he got back.  I spent the weekend trying find additional information and found something on the faucet that I thought would help.  When I called him he said he couldn't think of anything with a V but that I should bring in the part so he could look at it.

Today I called to find out when he would be in the store.  He said he was going out later, but when I asked if he had a general idea when he would be there so I wouldn't miss it, he told me he wasn't going to leave for an hour.  I got there 20 minutes later and he was gone.  His wife thought he might have gone to pick up lunch and would be back, but  she tried to call him to find out.  He didn't answer the phone or return her call.

While Irving was out, one of his plumbers came in.  He looked at the part and thought it belonged to a Kohler, said that they probably didn't have the part but that Irving could probably order it.  I spent about 25 minutes talking to the Irving's wife (very nice) and someone who stopped by to visit before Irving got back.   He didn't even acknowledge that he made me wait, but instead treated me like I had been complaining to everyone in site that he wasn't there.  He barely looked at the part, said there wasn't anything I could do - no recommendation, no nothing - didn't even take 2 minutes with me!  If he didn't want my business, why didn't he just say so before he wasted my time.

Absolutely amazing...! Very, very prompt... Knowledgeable, courteous, insightful!

They diagnosed the issues with very little delay, had the part in the truck and fixed it right away

I've used H&S since I moved here in 1998. They have always been absolutely professional, but also down to earth, honest and timely. One time I accidentally called the wrong number and ended up with Herndon plumbing which was terrible. I had to have H&S come back and fix what had been done. When you deal with these folks you find them seriously focused on plumbing, local, and absolutely honest and reliable.

After an exhaustive search for a reliable and fairly-priced plumber, I stumbled upon H & S.  They arrived on time, listened to what the problem was, solved it and charged an exceedingly fair price for the work that was done.  These are now my Go-To guys for plumbing.  Thank you so much H & S.

I used this plumber when I lived in Herndon.  The attitude on the customer service line (usually Irv) was the worst each time but we heard good things about them and when we needed a plumber they were out go-to company for about 3 years (2x).  

Moved to Reston and had a broken ice machine in the fridge.  They allegedly fixed it for $736 which included replacing a kitchen faucet.  We left for a mini vacation the next day and 3 days later returned to a leak in the kitchen which ruined the hard wood floor as well as the ceiling in the basement.  They claimed it wasn't their fault .  We had another company come out and they blamed it on an inappropriate fitting that H&S Plumping used for the line.  We believed the the new company because they replaced it and it hasn't leaked since.  

We refused to pay H&S Plumbing and of course they reported us to the credit bureau but took no responsibility in their part.  Their stupidity cost us over $500 to have hardwood flooring replaced and the ceiling below repaired.  

RUN FROM THIS COMPANY.  They are not only rude (which is bad enough) but dishonest in their dealings.  We would have kept them for life. . .but we found a better plumber!

Normally I love this convenient plumbing supply store in Herndon on Grove Street.  They always have the plumbing parts I need and at a decent price.  I have never used their service techs for at home repairs.  I go to them for across the counter in store sales.  But today sadly the guy behind the counter did not have a mask on, it is December 2020.  I suspect they did not get the 2020 memo that a pandemic is in progress and we need to protect one another.  I masked up for them.  A few bonus points, they did have some hand sanitizer on the counter top.    
I try to support local, I could have purchased these parts (more safely) by Amazon.

Very responsive.  I cannot attest to their work because I did not end up using their services.  But I will say that I called them on a Thursday evening for emergency toilet repairs and they immediate followed up with me and were working to get someone scheduled to come out to my house the next day.  

Background - In one night, I went from three working toilets down to one.  I have a service contract but when I called my regular people, they did not have anyone who could come out the next day.  I called another plumber with whom I had had a previous positive experience.  That plumber was also booked - this was VERY last minute - but they recommended H&S Plumbing.  I called H&S at 5pm on Thursday and they called me back that night and followed-up the next morning.  

My regular service was able to send someone out for Saturday morning (0800), so I had to wave of H&S.  But, I would definitely use them in the future.  I think it speaks very well of them that another plumber was willing to recommend them.  I also appreciated their responsiveness.

We had a very disappointing experience with H&S, and won't be using them in the future. Apparently they raised their rates significantly in the past 60 days - we were shocked when our bill for two hours of labor came out to more than $500, after we had been quoted $300 six weeks ago.

Moral of the story: If you intend to hire H&S, remember to ask for labor rates each and every time.

Used to be pretty good and I even requested the older gentleman I've had in the past...can't remember his name now...but they quoted $1,000 on a repair because they said it would take two guys...another licensed plumbing company came out and one strong guy could easily move the pedestal sink and they fixed the problem for $250! I thought wow these guys are becoming talented at ripping customers off.

Got an estimate over the phone and the actual work came in under estimate. Honest and good work. Fair price and no BS. I highly recommend them and will use them for all my future plumbing needs.
