I had a leakage problem in my water tank pipe line for this I called the plumber he came to me and fixed the issue in a short time also at cheap prices.

I would highly recommend him without any hesitation.

DH Stevens Company Stands Behind their Work

My most recent use of the Stevens company plumber was today when they dispatched Alejandro to repair a leak in a toilet tank. Alejandro is polite, friendly and helpful. He is also thoroughly knowledgeable, and came equipped with all the tools a parts needed. After he'd been here for a few minutes I stuck my head in and said something like, Hey, Doctor, do you have a diagnosis? He was extracting a part from its packaging at the moment, and he explained exactly what the part was -- a fill valve -- and that the problem was a faulty gasket at the bottom. As it happened, Stevens had replaced the same part (for a different reason) about a year ago. I mentioned this to Alejandro, who checked with his office when he was making out the bill. They looked up my records and charged me nothing!

I should also note that we live in a 168 unit high rise in downtown DC. The desk staff tell me that Stevens is by far the most frequently used plumbing service here.

Was told that this company does not do any work on AC units. The listing seems a bit misleading then, when it clearly states HVAC and air conditioners.

Stevens plumbing did a great job and offered me a good price on the plumbing for my business.  I'd recommend them to anyone and I appreciate their service.

Biggest crooks. Sold us a water heather that has broken 3 times in one year. Dishonest. Unresponsive. We spent $5,000 and they left us high and dry. Sold us a lemon and they won't repair it. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

I requested an assessment of my water heater for repair or replacement. I had been told by another plumber that it needed replacement.  I am glad I made a second call to DH Stevens.  The technician came on time as scheduled and told me how to fix my problem easily and cheaply.  This call saved me over $1500.  I appreciate the expertise  and honesty of the technician who visited.

I'd give zero stars if I could. Hired Stevens to clear my french drains. Cancelled our first appointment late the afternoon before. So, I rescheduled. I called to see if they did the work late in the day and they didn't know. Ultimately, they informed me that the pipes needed to be dug up and replaced. I hired Roto Rooter to clear them, which they did.

Then a week later Stevens called to charge me for multiple hours of work they did failing to clear the drains. Why'd they do the work if they couldn't do it? And if it could be done, how is it that another company managed it.

Contractors in the DMV are the worst. Sadly, Stevens has joined the fray of poor contractors.

What amazing service! Quick story: It was a couple days before Christmas and I begin to shut down the water to the outside faucets.  Not working as I remember doing it in the past, so at one point I turn the main water supply off.  A leak starts.  Can't stop it.  Look up Plumbers in Yelp (great service Yelp) and find the highest rated team, Stevens Company.  Call answering service.  Wait 30 minutes.  Oh by the way this is a Sunday when plumbers can charge a hefty surcharge. The nicest gentleman in the world calls back and steps us through what we had to do (tighten a nut on the main water supply valve that gets lose over the years - in case you come up with a similar problem).  Problem fixed.  Marriage survives. Lots of dollars saved. But we definitely are adding them to our address book.

As I was thinking of writing this review, I was reminded of when I grew up in a small town and service providers gave you that special touch that is so rare today. Thought of Mayberry RFD too.

Thanks to the gentleman on the phone - so sorry we did not get your name - but you were amazing.

I should have read other reviews before calling Stevens Plumbing Co!! I just closed on a new flat and it has a tricky heating system. First day I moved in I had (or I thought I had) trouble getting the heating to work, burr! I called Stevens because I found out from the seller that they had installed the property's boiler a couple of years ago and I'm new to the area so didn't have other leads. Stevens came out a few days later and after no more than 15 or 20 minutes (and that is being generous) we realized that the switch plate below the boiler was reversed...the On was actually Off and visa versa. The technician left without leaving me a statement and I thought (very optimistically) that I was being given a freebie by the Plumbing Gods...doesn't everyone deserve a little love once in a while?  A week later I received a terse message from Richard in the office saying that they hadn't received payment from me. I called and explained that I hadn't received a bill and they should send me one. Without telling me what the charges were, Richard suggests I just give him my credit card and they can charge me and just send me a receipt. I felt a little nauseous when I asked what the charges were and found out I was being charged $157 for the 20 minute call. Yes, I realise that I am to some extent paying for their knowledge and expertise, etc, etc, but at the same time, come on. I think the least they could have done was inform me BEFORE the technician came out about their minimum charges for service calls or something like that.  Richard assured me that $157 was actually very inexpensive (clearly I made the wrong career choice). I am going to have some more plumbing done as part of some anticipated home improvements...I certainly won't be calling Stevens back and I will definitely make sure to shop around and ask what their charges are before anyone pulls up outside. Bummer that you have to be so skeptical.

Wonderful service; quick and efficient.

My problem (broken disposal) was bigger than I thought it was as my p-trap was nearly sealed shut.  The technicians were incredibly honest and speedy.

Thank you.  Hopefully I won't have any leaks or problems in the near future.  But if I do I will call on you.

Called the main number needing emergency services as my kitchen sink was actively overflowing and was told dispatch would call me back with an ETA. Two days later now and no one has called me back.

Can't really justify the 1 star since they couldn't be bothered to show up to give me an estimate for a major sewer replacement project. Had an appointment and they just didn't show up. Didn't call either. Looks like I dodged a bullet.

They are listed as 24/7 emergency service but they are not: I called their answering service three different times from 10pm until midnight to report a major bathroom leak and gave them my info but they never called back. I even gave give them the benefit of the doubt and called them twice the next day at 7am and 9am but they never returned my call.  I won't be doing business with them. Sadly, the reason I called them is because I wanted to support a local business in my neighborhood and they looked professional. I called Len The Plumber instead, they were polite and professional and will come out anytime and not charge extra.

We've had to call these guys several times over the last few years and they are always so helpful. Today even though they were booked solid they sent someone to just take a quick look at our water heater to assess. It turned out to be a simple problem and he fixed it right away. Highly recommend for their professional, knowledgable and fast service.

I needed several things fixed or replaced in my condo and these guys went out of their way to fix several plumbing problems that I had. I have to say that Mike Carlson is great about making sure his customers are happy.

I had a problem with my shower that couldn't get fixed on the first visit, and Mike C came out with 2 other techs and solved the problem. My kitchen faucet also needed to be replaced and the way it had been installed made it really difficult - but they made it work. They also took care of a leak in my kitchen sink.

The techs I worked with were Alex and Patrick -- and both were great.

Stevens and Plumbing & Heating is great!!  They did exactly what they said they were going to and communicated to myself each step of the way.

I had a smell coming from an injector pump closet in the basement.  The first technician who came out correctly identified the cause, easily showed me what and why and presented a temporarily fix for the smell while we ordered parts for a permanent solution.  During the ordering process, Mike at Stevens' went through to correctly identify the manufacturer and then find a cost effective solution--no small feat.  As mentioned above, he kept me up to date each step of the way and even called me the day after everything was completed to follow up and make sure I was happy--I am Very Happy and will exclusively use Stevens Plumbing & Heating going forward.

I was initially pleased with Stevens Plumbing.   I had a sewer line back-up and called them late on a Sunday evening; a crew was at my house within 2 hours to fix the problem.  They couldn't tell exactly what had caused the issue, but after they were done, everything was flowing freely as it should.

Two or three months later, I had another sewer backup.  I called Stevens right away and advised them they had worked on my house earlier this year and that the problem they were called out to fix had recurred.  I simply asked them if they could come fix it again and before I got any further I was told the first available appointment they had was 10 days away.  I asked even for an emergency?  Yes - even for an emergency.

I called another company to come out who did a more thorough diagnostic procedure and while they also could not tell me exactly why the problem recurred, they did fix the problem once again and were able to provide me with a further diagnostic/repair proposal that I could follow if I wanted.  Stevens demonstrated that they didn't want my business and even though this diagnostic/repair proposal offered by the other company is relatively expensive, I won't even think about getting a quote from Stevens.

Our management company has used them for the 15+ years that we've lived in our building--and we've had uneven service over that time. We tend to like most of the actual work that they perform, and the folks who come out to do the work--we'd give them a B overall. My wife recommends Julio in particular as someone with a great work ethic and pleasant manner. But they don't seem to be managed well. From an operational standpoint, we'd give the guys back in the home office a D. They need some project management training, as well as customer service training (including the co-owner John. Just a hint, John: Have Dallas take more calls. She's significantly nicer to your customers). They don't seem to be able to meet their designated service window times, and each time they are late we've had to be the one to call to find out if they are even coming at all. For example, if they say your service window on a particular day will be 8-10a (and these are jobs were booked a week or more in advance), we hear nothing and finally call them at 10a, asking when they are coming. Then we're told they will be there in a half hour... or so. And then they think it's ok to be condescending and annoyed with us for calling, explaining that scheduling is hard when you have 15 trucks and that they are juggling multiple clients. Um, really? Isn't that your job? Isn't that what your business is expected to do? And paid to do? Again, by their own account, this is what they do every day, so telling us that it's hard--and in an exasperated tone when we've only been cordial and had to be the ones to call to check in the first place--seems like a pretty basic business mistake. Customers are usually understanding--if you bother to call them and say that you are running late. And customers are usually ok with scheduling mistakes--if they aren't a consistent problem. But the attitude combined with the mistakes makes it hard to give them a good review. Too bad, really, since we both like the folks who come out and perform the actual work.

Stevens Plumbing came in to fix a non-working garbage disposal. A former tenant had let a penny drop in and it killed the disposal. They were able to fix it quickly and despite my initial request to replace the disposal, we were able to cancel that and save some money. Fast, effective, and professional. Also because it turns out our condo management company uses the same company, I got an additional discount.

I highly recommend Stevens for any service work. Matt from Stevens helped me negotiate a prior authorization with my home warranty company and stayed on the phone with me for nearly 30 minutes taking care of it. The technicians came out to my house for an emergency call on a Saturday, stopped the water from leaking and did a great job. They are here now replacing parts in my old boiler that went bad and the technician is the nicest guy i've ever met. Pleasant, polite, professional. If you need any type of plumbing services call these guys without hesitation.

Just had a great experience and had to share. Called Stevens for an outside pipe clog, and spoke with Dave (I believe). He couldn't have been nicer and got us in as soon as possible. (He even called back to offer to move up the date when he had a cancellation.)

Alejandro showed up within the promised timeframe (maybe 15 minutes after the start) and got right to work. After taking a look at the problem, he had to run back to the shop to grab another tool, and didn't charge us for that time.

He addressed the issue (a clog and some roots), advised next steps (use Root Killer), and explained what would happen if the next steps weren't 100% successful.

(He even fixed our screaming toilet in the guest bathroom after hearing it, AND gave us two $25 coupons!)

Overall a friendly, stress-free experience. Price is competitive, customer service is cheerful, technician is skillful and sweet. Will definitely be my go-to for future plumbing needs.

We have been using this company for the better half of a year to fix minor plumbing issues in our older home. Four months ago, they came over for several hours to diagnose an issue with a toilet backing up. They advised us that we should hire a contractor to dig up our entire back deck to the tune of $6,000 in order to fix a sewer line they had (we later found) improperly identified. Thankfully, we got second and third opinions and resolved the issue for $600 with another plumber. We did however pay the bill for their time incorrectly diagnosing the problem and received a receipt of payment.
Cut forward four months, a large man named Mike shows up unannounced banging on our front door, demanding payment. My husband explained that we paid them and showed him the receipt and explained that in any event, had we used them we would've been out $6,000 with no solution. The man became visibly upset and got in my husband's face, demanding payment despite the paid receipt. We ultimately convinced him to leave and stopped just short of calling the police.
Needless to say, stay far away from this shady company unless you want unannounced threatening visits. Knowing that this man has our address I am still fearful for our safety and unsure if or when he will turn up again looking for more money.

My toilet would run constantly and audibly. A few YouTube tutorials later and I was on Yelp looking for a professional. I would recommend Stevens because 1) they bill by the half hour, 2) they arrive when they say they will, and 3) our plumber Billy was friendly and professional. He knew exactly what was the matter and took care of it with a couple of new parts.

I did mention a $20 coupon from their website when I made the appointment, which I promptly forgot about on the day of service. Would have been nice if the office had applied it when Billy called them to tally up the price, but I don't really blame them. After reading some of the horror stories out there, I'd say I still came out on top.

A year and a half ago I called these guys thinking I needed a new water heater. They came very quickly, checked, and recommended changed a couple of parts instead. This bought me a year and half without the expense of a new heater. Today I woke up and there was no hot water. I called these guys at 8:30, a supervisor came by within 90 minutes to take a look, and in the afternoon the expert worker bees came to install a new heater. Everyone involved was courteous, knowledgeable, clear and helpful. It really doesn't get better than this.

We've received excellent service from Stevens. We installed a kitchen in our basement to turn it into an apartment and also a washer and dryer upstairs. Wayne did a great job with the plumbing work and was a pleasure to work with. He was patient and responsive to our questions, and got the job done efficiently. We definitely recommend Stevens to others looking for help with this kind of job.

Top-notch!  Prompt, reliable, professional service.  I recently had several plumbing issues in my home, to include leaky bathroom shower faucet, leaking from a corroded valve leading to the hot water heater, installation of a water line to my refrigerator water dispenser and ice maker, and eventually replacement of my hot water heater.

I am exceptionally well-pleased with all of the work Stevens Plumbing has done and highly recommend them to other home-owners.

I don't think I've ever posted a review before. But just wanted to hop on and say that Will from Stevens is great. We had a leaky shower that was raining water down on our neighbor...on Mother's Day no less. Will showed up fast, but more importantly, in a good mood. He diagnosed and fixed the problem quickly, all while giving our dog the attention he craves. At one point, our pup was sitting next to Will as he lay on the floor looking into the shower access panel. Most people would've been annoyed. I thought for a sec Will was going to put the flashlight in his mouth and let him help.

I can't comment on the pricing, since our condo paid for it. But overall, very satisfied. If our owner allows it, I'm going to call Stevens/Will instead of their preferred plumber.

EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT!!  These plumbers are so professional, they educate the customers and do what it takes to solve the problem.  I have had very bad plumbing experiences in the past in terms of the plumber lying about what was done and still charging me.  These guys are the best that I have ever dealt with.  They not only came on time THEY CAME EARLY!  Joe and Dominick were my plumbers.  Joe is a fighter and does not give up until the problem is solved.  He is a specialist in drains.

I have never experienced this level of quality from a plumber before!

Scheduling an appointment over the phone was quick and easy, and they explained their pricing upfront so there were no surprises. On the day of the appointment, they called to confirm they could send out the plumber (it was about 30 minutes before the scheduled window, which was great). When the plumber arrived, he was quick, thorough, and professional. He wore a mask the whole time, and the payment process was easy.

Sloppy, unprofessional and rude.
I had a really unpleasant experience with Stevens just last week. I hired them to do three things: replace the bathroom sink, replace bath/shower plumbing (I was having it retiled) and install a new gas stove. The gentleman that came gave an estimate of 1 hour for each project - which I thought was rather high, but agreed.  In the end, he was at the apartment from 11:30am - 6pm.   I was not there during the plumber's stay, but I had painters who were.  They told me that the plumber took a lot of trips out of the apartment.
When I got home, the stove wasn't in and the bathroom was a complete mess. The plumber had even used one of my good towels, it was completely soiled with black gunk, wet and just left on the floor.  There was debris in the bathtub and all over the floor.
When I called the next day to complain, I spoke to a gentleman, Mike - who was extremely defensive and rude.  He was clearly more interested in defending the maximum number of hours he could preserve on the bill - didn't really care that he had an unhappy customer who had come home to a complete mess, soiled towels and a stove that wasn't completely installed.
Really terrible experience - worst experience I've had with any service provider ever.

We called Steven's to come out to reinforce my husband's DIY plumbing job. My husband was moving new shower pipes and had a hard time sealing a couple of hard to reach joints in the copper piping he installed. Rather than burn the house down, we called Steven's to double check his work. They came out on time and worked rapidly to reinforce my husband's handiwork with no judgement. Even offered a few tips when finishing our bathroom renovation. They charge a trip fee ($75) and then go by the hour (not by the project) and worked very speedily so we felt pretty good about what we ended up paying. When testing the pipes they found another leak and tended to it as well. Unfortunately, hours after they left we noticed moisture on one of the pipe joints so we had to stop work on the renovation for the weekend and call them back on Monday. I called first thing and they sent someone out quickly. We thought the moisture issue was fixed but hours later the pesky moisture was there again. I called once again and they sent out one of the original guys again who removed and replaced the pipe entirely. Steven's didn't charge for either follow up visit. I even tried to tip one of the guys but he was having none of it - hopefully, I didn't offend him. They just came out no questions asked. They provide a great service and we will definitely be calling them again when we gut our other bathroom. This time, we'll leave it to them beginning to finish rather than doing any DIY plumbing. The only reason, I've reserved the 5th star is bc they had to come out 3 times total and it set us weekend warriors back a bit on getting this shower finished.

Super positive experience working with Stevens Plumbing for an emergency fix for a broken bathtub handle stem, would definitely recommend Stevens for your plumbing needs!

Having called 25 plumbers to try to get an emergency fix for a broken bathtub handle stem, I spoke with Richard on the phone.  He was friendly and warm from the get-go and while he (and the subsequent 25 other companies I called) told me that they didn't have times available day-of that he'd add me to a wait or cancellation list. Before we got too far into our conversation he explained their rates ($75 visit/consultation fee, $165/hour charged by the half hour and anything additional for parts) which seemed consistent with other plumbing services I'd contacted.  Luckily for me Stevens called back about 4 hours later and sent Alex  my way with a 20-minute lead time.  Alex was super nice and professional and despite some minor hiccups finding the water shut-off valve (my fault), he was done in about 50 minutes.

Had a toilet in a rental property that wasn't filling.  The handyman wanted to replace the valve and possibly the pipe, which meant opening a wall.  Called Stevens to check on emergency schedule, and they kindly talked me through doing a diagnosis over the phone.  Turned out one of the internal mechanisms was faulty.  My husband and I got replacement parts and fixed it ourselves.  Soooooo grateful to Stevens!!!!

So I read the great reviews and decided to call for annual boiler maintenance. Their guy, Ed I think, came on time but that's where my satisfaction ends.

He listed off 3 issues I needed to 'repair', 2 major, one minor issue. Then he charged me $240. That's the $75 initial fee plus apparently their policy is to charge for travel time also, adding $85 just for 15 min before+after the actual time he spent.

Now here's the kicker- I call them back for an estimate on the 3 repairs. No call back. Twice. I finally call another company who come check it out for $89 (total flat) and they explain that for the cost of those quoted repairs I can/should purchase a new boiler. No wonder no one bothered to call me back about a repair cost estimate.  I've now had 2 other boiler/HVAC people out, all confirming I got totally ripped off.

Worst $240 I've ever spent.

As a property manager, I have to use many types of contractors every day.  Stevens Plumbing is probably my favorite vendor to deal with.  They are so friendly on the phone, usually can get to the job day of, and accomplish what you send them there to do.  They are the first company I suggest to clients as well.  And they have someone on call during non-business hours.  Everything you could want in a plumbing company.

The plumbers are great if they show up. My only toilet isn't working and they not only couldn't schedule me for the day I called (which I understood), they missed their window day 2 and then told me if I didn't want to wait 5 more days, I could pay their overtime rate. And the manager John laughed at me when j suggested that since they missed their 2 hour window and I was home the whole time, they should figure out how to fit me in. The worst - more disturbing since the issue is management. SPADARO is coming in an hour.

The woman on the phone was friendly and helpful. She explained charges beforehand, which I really appreciated. They were able to come just about an hour later, gave me a clear window, and then the office called again 10 minutes before the repairman came to tell me he was on his way.

The repairman was also kind and made the repair in about 15 minutes. Definitely appreciate that they charge by the half-hour. It was still expensive, but name me a competent plumber who isn't! Overall, happy with the friendliness, organization and skill of this business, and happy my garbage disposal was saved. :-)

D.H. Stevens is unprofessional and irresponsible. After the Plumber (Dave Ford) and his Assistants left my home after installing a water heater and replacing a portion of my sump pump drain pipe, I noticed a large paint stain on my Refrigerator and a paint stain my Wash machine as well. I contacted Mr. Ford about the issue, and he said that he would come back out within a couple of days to either try to remove it or paint over it. But I never heard from him. So I gave him a call back, but was sent to voicemail. Left a message reminding him of the conversation we had and to contact me. But he never called me back. So I then sent him an email (and also sent a copy to the office he works out of), detailing what we discussed and the severity of the stains because I couldn't remove them. Of course, I never got a response back. Mr. Ford and his Staff have failed to take responsibility for their mistake. Paint left on a wash machine and a refrigerator may not be a big deal to you, but it is a big deal to me because it's my property (that I paid for) and I have to use it (and look at it) everyday. This is the reason I gave this rating.

How are these crooks getting positive reviews?   And what kind of deal is is the $65.00 service charge plus $110+ hourly rate?  In and out in under 5 minutes to unclog a toilet and I'm out $135.00.  I know roto-rooter does this... but I expect it from them.  And the SOB's supposedly have a relationship with our apartment building and the management company.  They know they have people over a barrel and they choose to exploit it.  The most I can do is complain here and to the property management for the shat referral.  If I could do more I would.

They sold us a faulty heater, during the first installation, they broke the meter, and we had to call DC Gas to come out to fix it. The gas company said no plumbers should ever touch the meter, but they did and they broke it. We were out of hot water for weeks. The heater broke three times within the first year. Now it broke the forth time, and they say it is no longer under warranty so they refuse to fix it. They purposefully waited a year and refused to give us a new heater when this one was clearly broken.

I wish I could give this company 5 stars but they are not priced fairly.  They were very responsive and within 24 hours I had a new hot water heater.  But the price of $2100 is outrageous.  I did not have the luxury of time to shop for another plumber, they were already at my house so I authorized the charge.  But I would never use them again and I can't recommend them to other customers.  They definitely took advantage of me.  If their price had been fair I would gladly give them 5 stars.

This company came recommended from my realtor. We had a non-emergent issue with the toilet continually running and also with a bathtub clog unable to be snaked. Overall, prompt and fast service. Charges are reasonable: $175/hour + materials +$75 trip charge.

I highly recommend them! They are experienced and HONEST!

I was able to arrange a visit within 48 hours. They gave me the estimate over the phone $75 for the visit and the half-hour/hourly rate. It took the plumber less than 20 min to solve my clog. He showed me how I could de-clog in the future, and I was very impressed that he was honest and helpful! I realize that I might have had a few too many bad plumbing experiences...

He charged me $65 for the visit and then less than the half-hour rate quoted over the phone.
Overall, $135 was a great deal.

*do not ever call Roto Rooter, they won't tell you the fees over the phone. And, they scam you. I was charged $420 for snaking a sink and tub. The plumber said he was only charging me for one service, but I'm pretty sure it was a scam.

This is regarding customer service, as no work was performed.
I spoke with Mike at Stevens plumbing multiple times over three days after my water heater died and  I tried to decide both who to have replace it and what brand of new heater to get.
Mike was friendly, patient and very helpful in sorting it all out, EVEN when it turned out that I went with someone else. I went with another company mainly bc once I finally was ready to do the install, they could come out first. Stevens was did not have the very lowest price but nor we're they the most expensive. And really they were only about 100$ more than the lowest price, which I think is worth it for the professionalism.
Recommend them!

I will never use another plumbing company! We used Stevens recently for a clogged drain. This was the first major issue my roommates and I faced in our new rental house.

I spoke with Mike on the phone for about 30 minutes explaining our situation and the fact that 5, 23 year old girls, had no idea how we were going to deal with the sink blockage that was now causing our dishwasher to flood the kitchen. Mike assured me they could take care of the problem ASAP, and at a reasonable rate for my group. Not only did they fix the problem the next morning at 8:30am, at a reasonable cost, but Mike gave me tips on how to avoid the clogging in the future. He also told me that he would personally come out to the house himself if he didn't have any service men to help us out.

You rarely feel like service companies are looking out for you, if anything it seems like they want to stiff you for the most expensive rate. Stevens is not only professional but they took a genuine interest in how they could help my group and how to avoid problems in the future.

Great first experience and no question Mike will be hearing from me again next time we clog our sink.

I don't often write Yelp reviews but I feel motivated to share the good experience we had once again with D. H. Stevens Plumbing. The technician, John F, was very professional and efficient. He was also friendly and clearly enjoyed being helpful. He replaced two toilet fill valves, cleared a few drains and took care of some other repairs. I highly recommend this company and John F.

I am always scared that I'll be taken advantage of when getting home repair services, so I was pleased with Stevens Company.

I had unexplained mold and water damage in my basement, and long story short, a pipe was leaking. I found Stevens Co. on yelp and gave them a call on a Monday. Alex--the plumber assigned to me-- came later that week. The company called me before to make sure I was home, and Alex was on time.  He took off some dry wall, identified the leak, explained his proposed course of action and sought my approval before he went forward, which I appreciated because I've had folks just go forward and assume I'm cool with what they want to do.

The thing that moved my 4 star to 5 is that Alex needed to wait 20ish minutes while someone from the office brought him some supplies, and he did not charge me for that time (the company charges $85/half hour, plus a $75 service fee).

I paid by credit card and received an invoice that clearly noted the issue. I am very satisfied by the experience.

I called Stevens Plumbing after a handyman tried and failed to fix my stopped-up kitchen sink. John answered at 7:30am and agreed to send someone out after 5pm same day, though he wasn't able to confirm exactly when they'd arrive due to after-hours scheduling. I called back at 4:45pm and left a message with the technician to confirm, and received a call from Stevens less than 10 mins later letting me know someone was 15 minutes away. Sure enough, Alejandro was on my doorstep less than 15 minutes later. He was incredibly professional and efficient and had my sink working good as new less than an hour later. He was able to identify a problem the handyman missed and fixed it accordingly. Will definitely call them back for any future plumbing issues!

We had an issue with a leak that we tried but could not locate. We called these guys and they came out the next day. Alex spent about 20 minutes crawling around with a flashlight. He looked everywhere and found the location of the leak. He told us that it would take about an hour to fix and he had the parts in the truck. We had plumbing work done before so we had some idea what things like this cost. To our surprise, their price was lower than what we were prepared to pay so we readily accepted the estimate.

He started to pull parts out of his van and crawled back to the attic to fix the leak. True to his words, he was done in an hour. He proceeded to clean up the area and pack up his tools. Since we weren't sure if they take credit cards (they do), we had gone to the bank to make sure we had cash on hand. However, since they accept credit card, we now have a load of cash to spend elsewhere. lol

Overall a very pleasant experience.

We had a leak under our kitchen sink, but couldn't tell what was leaking.  Stevens sent out a plumber, who determined that our faucet needed to be replaced.  We went back and forth on whether to go with one they had available or one we could buy on our own.  In total, they came out three times, installed one of theirs, then (when we didn't like the look) were more than willing to replace it with one we bought separately.  They didn't charge us for each visit separately, but charged us a single charge after three visits and really only charged us the equivalent of a single visit.  Overall, we were very happy with the experience.

Stevens plumbing is extremely prompt and good at what they do. In less than an hour, they arrived to take care of our back up. They were courteous upon arrival and got the job done quickly. An outstanding, helpful company!

We returned from Christmas/New Years travel to a frozen water main in the middle of a long period of cold weather. We called Stevens' emergency line and a technician called us back within 30 minutes. He talked us through finding the water main and using a space heater to heat the pipe. When that wasn't working after 3+ hours, we called him back, and he told us to keep the heat on for a few more hours. That did the trick, and water service resumed without us spending a dime.

Stevens' technicians are extremely knowledgeable and helpful, and the cost of service is very fair. We will continue to rely on them for any plumbing issues in the years to come.

I appreciated the fact Stevens was able to come out at short notice to fix our leak.  However, they charged $390 to replace a cartridge which is a very simple repair.  I believe the breakdown was $75 for the service charge and then $175 per hour?  I don't understand why it took so long and I believe we were charged for the time required to go out and get the part.  Also, now our faucet has a slow drip and it wasn't dripping prior to the repair.

Steven came out to my house early in the morning on a Saturday with pastries to assess my plumbing situation. He was extremely honest and presented me with my options, all of which unfortunately would require massive construction to the inside of my home. I ultimately decided not to pursue the project after consulting with Steven. I respect his candor & honesty, not to mention his warm & welcoming attitude. You can't go wrong with this company. The customer service was terrible. I had dark stains (discoloration) on hardwood floor near bathroom. I specifically mentioned before setting the appointment that I'm not sure if there is a leak and that it needs to be checked. However, they charged me for diagnosis of the issue. There was no mention of any charge when I set up the appointment. Other plumbing companies in the area didn't charge for diagnosis.

Called DH Stevens to replace the wax seal under the toilet in my apartment. The technician (Julio) repaired it ok but wasn't going to re-caulk the toilet until we requested him to do so. Then, after a day or so, putty began oozing out from underneath the toilet because he had put too much putty around the wax seal. Called DH Stevens and they sent Julio back out and he cleaned it up with no charge. Then a couple of months later, the oil from the remaining putty began leaking out from underneath the toilet. This time, I called DH Stevens and asked that they send out a different technician, which they did without objection. They sent out Alex who did a fantastic job cleaning up the messy work of the first technician. Although a small piece of tile broke off when Alex removed and replaced the toilet, he was able to apply caulk in such a way that it is not even that noticeable. Again no charge even though on this follow-up trip, Alex replaced the supply line to the toilet. So, 4 stars for DH Stevens because of their responsiveness and willingness to make the job right, even if it takes a few tries and two different technicians. I recommend requesting Alex by name - I will from now on.

I had Mike come over to check out an issue with our hose bib shutoff valve. He was super friendly and approachable, which is great when you're a new homeowner like myself and have a lot of questions. He walked me through the problem and brainstormed different solutions, some of which did not involve having work done. I really appreciated that he did not make the problem seem more dire than it was, and I can make an informed decision about what to do. Even if I don't get this fixed, I will definitely use them in the future for plumbing work.

We had a difficult to reach leak in our ceiling that could have been from a waste pipe or a water pipe.  Not knowing who to call, I went onto Yelp and read the reviews of Stevens Plumbing and called them right away.  On the phone, they were clear, straightforward, and easy to work with.  They made sure I understood their pricing structure and we set a date for them to come to the house.  It wasn't a rush job, and they were very accommodating to my schedule.

When the team of two, Alex and Alejandro, showed this morning, they got right to work problem solving the issue and deciding what they needed to complete the project.  They figured out that it wasn't the waste pipe (yay) despite the fact that initially it looked like it was.  They pinpointed the problem and got down to business.  They did exactly what they said they would do.  They completed it timely and cleaned up afterwards.  They were professional and nice.

They provided excellent service for a reasonable price.  I would definitely use them again!!!

I use them regularly for all kinds of service for a multiunit property. The pricing seems fair; they don't overcharge for time or extra visits. Things don't always get fixed on the first try, but that's life sometimes, especially given the number of old buildings with sketchy plumbing in this city. The various plumbers they've sent have always been courteous and responsible.

The Christopher Condo Property Management did an emergency call out around 11am today Sub due to a leak from 2nd floor to 1st floor unit (damaged badly) leaking into basement area that was reported Thurs and a tech came Fri to inspect.
This plumber guy came out with an haughty attitude apparently tired and overworked and was very impatient  he didn't have time to listen just rudely asking is it active is it active...he carried that attitude into someone's home on the 2nd floor. His tone became very upsetting to me and I let him know I'm the customer that called you out and paying you! He cursed me saying much  and called his supervisor Stan Foley handing me phone saying you want to report me go ahead.

i've used them a number of times over the years and their work is fairly solid. i'm using them now to address a complicated unit-to-unit leak situation so this should be a real test; but, they didn't charge me for a repeat visit recently because they had miss-diagnosed/repaired something that was subsequently determined not to be the problem. that's a sign of a smart operator.

Great customer service and very reasonable prices.  We've been using them for years on our old house and have never had a complaint.  When our pipes froze they sent a manager from the office out to fix the problem when all their guys were out on jobs so we could get our water on ASAP.  It's that kind of thing that creates fanatical loyalty in Stevens' customers.

$400 paid and two new leaks!

The Stevens serviceman came out to my apt yesterday to fix two toilets, #1 which needed a new flushing assembly (inside tank), and #2 which had a leak from a rusty screw that was keeping the tank in place.

After nearly $400, toilet #2 is fully repaired, but toilet #1 now has two NEW leaks: one from the valve around the water shut-off handle, and one from the screw holding the tank in place.

My main issue is this:

The serviceman clearly did not have the right connector from the water shut-off handle to the tank, yet he spent almost an hour trying to find various solutions with the parts that he had.  As a customer, I would expect him to stop and ask me: would you like me to continue and try to make this work which will cost you labor time and I cannot guarantee success, or would you like me to stop and come back with the correct part?

At this point, I got neither - I paid for the labor and I did not get a solution.

I contacted the company (including the owner) via email the next morning, and they did not follow up with me.  I'm calling them now..

Everyone from Stevens was kind and helpful in our communication.  Julio stopped by, reset our heater, but warned us if it gave us problems, the unit is ~12 years old.  We should not keep tossing money into it and got us a quote.

Since we had more problems, we set up an appointment within 3 days of calling where Julio came back to remove the old heater and install the new one.  He waited around long enough to make sure every faucet worked properly and explained how I can adjust the temperature.  He is very friendly.

The final price matched the quote exactly and everyone at this company seems honest and friendly.  Thank you.

Since moving into a house we had slow drains that were getting worse. We also needed to have the shut offs for the washing machine replaced before we could use them (they sprayed and leaked when turned on).  I set up an appointment for the following week.  The staff member asked lots of questions so that the plumber knew what to expect when he arrived.  The representative arrived within the window that had been indicated.  He replaced the water hook ups in no time and then got our washer set up.  Both the bathroom sink and the tub drains were clogged.  He snaked the tub and said that might fix the sink but it did not so then he snaked the sink too.  The tub job was pretty quick but the sink took some time.  Not having been in the house long we were worried that there could be a more serious issue, but he had them flowing well.  Everything was completed in just under an hour.  I thought he worked very fast.  He called the office to write up the bill, I paid, and he was on his way.  Everything has been working great.  We are very happy with the work performed and I will certainly use them again as other needs arise.

We had a leak in the sink of my basement and called DH Stevens as it was referred to my by a friend. They were able to arrange an appointment for me four days later and told me the estimated the price, which was less than I expected. I was fine with the wait since I could use the sink upstairs. When they came, they were very friendly and easy to communicate with. Initially, I just wanted to fix the leakage, but they recommended me replace the whole sink since it was already too worn out. It took them around three to four hours for them to replace the sink, and the ending results were great. The sink looked brand new and I was able to get $25 dollars off from the coupon from their website. Overall I highly recommend this plumbing service!

Caveat - They did not do plumbing work on an emergency for me because they were too busy ...... BUT ...... Richard was the only plumber out of 5 that I contacted through Angie's List who replied to my email. He was helpful and even better rearranged one of his workers schedules to come out and take a look at my situation. Came out to fix a clog that occurred right before we left on a week long vacation.  It seemed to be resolved and although it was a little pricey, I expected that with emergency service and I was satisfied, at least temporarily.  When we returned from vacation, and began using the bathrooms affected by the clog it was clear the issue had not been fixed.  I called on a Sunday evening to try and get emergency service again and I was told they wouldn't come out until the following day, but that they would call between 7:30 and 8:30 the next morning to set up a time.  They didn't call until after 9:30 to tell me that someone could come between 11 and 1.  I asked if it could be later in the day since I had gone to work after not hearing from them as promised and was rudely told if I couldn't be there at the time, it would have to wait until the next day.  My review is based on the fact that the problem wasn't  fixed properly the first time and that 24/7 emergency service really means during business hours, at their convenience.

I talked with John at Stevens Plumbing.  He was reasonable and we were able to figure out a resolution.

Just completed a job with Stevens Plumbing and they did an excellent job getting our heat back on quickly by fixing 3 gas lines to 3 different condos.

So last night we had a leak on 3 of our gas lines to 3 different condos...each having it's own unique problems.  This morning I called several companies asking for someone to come out and it was nearly impossible to get anyone the same day.  Fortunately, I called Richard from Stevens Plumbing and he cleared his schedule to have a technician (Wayne K - same name...I know) come out to help us.  I asked what he thought the 3 jobs would cost and he guessed a total of around $1000, which was considerably cheaper when looking at the reviews/prices on Angie's List of other plumbing companies, so I was comfortable taking his quote.

The technician, Wayne, came out within 30 minutes and was extremely nice and explained everything that needed to be done.  He said the issues with the gas lines were unusual to have holes, but got everything fixed within a few hours.

The best part was that he broke out the pricing for each unit so each condo owner got a price respective of how much work was done for each gas line.

Overall, I had an excellent experience.  They were punctual, quick, cheap, and came in $50 below their quoted price...which is really all you can ask for.  I wish all plumbing companies were like this.

I have a rental unit in Woodley Park and got a call from one of the tenants that the shower had a small leak behind the wall.  I saw the great reviews on Stevens Plumbing and gave them a shot.  The leak got fixed so I'm happy about that BUT the bill came out to $450.00!   So 2.5 hours to change $2.00 in washers hmmmm.

Parts:     Washer-$0.55
      Repair Seat: $1.75
            Trim Kit: $38.95
Labor:    $165 x 2.5hrs

When I called to question the charges they said that they are middle of the road with prices... I've called other plumbers for clogs and they've worked several hours and the bill was never that high.  I tried calling around and everyone seems to quote prices based on the job or was it the neighborhood.  You can use them but you're going to pay out the arse!

When my tenant moved out of my house, one of the weird things she left with with was the state of the plumbing in my hall bathroom:  the shower trim, and even the stem that interfaces with the shower body, fell right off the wall.  I don't know what she was doing with it, but I had Stevens & Co come help me re-install it.  The shower body & trim was from a weird brand, Rahl, which was a challenge for the plumber to figure out.  But when I looked through my emails and found the receipt from when I ordered it five years ago, I went online and pulled down the installation instructions from the Rahl website, and then the plumber fixed it right up.  I'm grateful that this plumber was willing to stick around and try to solve the problem instead of just declaring it weird or unfixable like I have had different plumbers say on other jobs.  All in all, you really can't ask for more than to get a guy who wants to solve a problem and sticks it out until the job is done.  So, thanks.

NEVER, EVER CALL STEVENS FOR YOUR PLUMBING NEEDS!

They came out to do an easy faucet handle installation, which went fine. They informed us that our stop valves needed replacing because they were corroded and that we needed some additional preventative parts for our faucets. They promised to order the parts and call me when they were in. After a week and half, I called them, and they told me the parts still weren't in. Another week passes, and I call them. They finally admit that they've never ordered the parts. Fast forward another week and a half: the parts are in, so we need to schedule a visit. Because we're in a condo building, the repairs required a whole building water shut-off, which they say they will take care of if we tell the management company to send a notice out.

They arrive and haven't talked to the management company. They can't turn off the water. So we fired them on the spot. It's been almost two months of this run around and incompetence.

Bottom line: there have to be better plumbers in this city.

My roommates and I had a wonderful experience with Stevens plumbing. Mike even followed up with us to see if our sink issue has been resolved. We will definitely only be using Stevens from now on and trust them with our plumbing needs.

Excellent Service.  They came out to fix a stoppage and when they realized it was a running trap issue, they said they wouldn't charge us for the two hours.  They came back the next day and when they couldn't find running trap, Richard called DC Wasa for us to submit plumber's report.  He only charged us for an hour of work, and was extremely responsive and helpful in explaining the problem an our options. Great Customer Service!

Steven's Co is the oldest plumbing and heating company in DC; extremely knowledgeable about the plumbing industry and the Washington, DC metropolitan area. Very quick to respond to problems or if they can help on the phone without sending a mechanic to save money they are happy to do so. Friendly service, respectable and fair pricing. If you can't afford their expertise, then try doing it yourself.

Credit where credit is due: the plumber who actually showed up to my apartment was super nice, did the job quickly, and didn't try to overcharge me. However, everyone else I dealt with was somewhere been not helpful and actively rude. I had an actual plumbing emergency on a Saturday and my building recommended them. Man was my building wrong.

I called once late on Saturday and they said that because I had shut off the water, I'd done what anyone could until Monday. And then the conversation ended. So I called back the next day to confirm my work order was in for Monday. The woman answering said she had no idea. Cool, so I waited until Monday. No one called me, so I called around 11am and they seemed surprised that I had even called to confirm a time?

Anyway, can't stress enough how great the dude who showed up within the two hour window was. During a pandemic, having a guy who shows up, does his job, finds a way to save your money, and wears a mask 100% of the time (as did I, wear a mask when you're around essential workers y'all) is your dream plumber. Except that when he called his supervisor to price it out, I told her that I was texting my landlord trying to figure out how they could bill him, and she accused me of trying to scam the company out of money, because they had the work order in with me as an owner-occupant, not a tenant. It was a weird hill to die on given that no one asked me that question and I never implied that I owned the place. I looked at my plumber and said I'm so sorry, I'm not trying to scam anyone. And the. He muted the phone and said, Don't worry, she's like this with everyone. WHAT?! I don't even know where to start.

So, look, not one star because my toilet tank is no longer cracked and my plumber was super nice. But only two, because everyone i dealt with besides him was so unpleasant.

On January 9th, 2023, we had a valve replaced in our toilet (which we bought NEW from DH Stevens in early 2019).  After January 9th, the toilet still made funny noises but was usable, so we ignored the noises.

Then, we were out of our condo for a full week.  Upon our return on the evening of February 26th, 2023, we used the toilet. It flooded the bathroom because the tank over flowed, so we turned off the water.  This morning, We went to our building management and they told us to call DH Stevens back.

We were upset because the valve cost $156 in parts and labor, which was not a small sum.  The woman on the phone was not helpful at all; she was condescending and belittling as she questioned us.  When we raised our voices in frustration as a result, she YELLED at the top of her lungs and we had to put the phone down to avoid going deaf!!

In summary, she told us someone would come because it was an emergency, but it would be after hours (after 6 PM) and at a rate of $225.  She refused to accept that her plumber didn't do a proper job on January 9th, 2023.  We immediately found an alternative plumber.

IF you want to use DH Stevens, then PLEASE understand your RISKS.  Also, please ask for warranty; we wish you better luck than we had!  (Those who gave good reviews likely didn't experience an issue within two months of a replaced valve!)

Called DH Stevens after my gas water heater exhibited some not great signs of venting issues.  They sent a guy out right away to take a look and plan for a potential replacement.  He spent a while diagnosing it, explained that it looked like a chimney issue, and confirmed that I should contact a chimney sweep.  As long as the problem can be solved that way, no need to replace the water heater.  So he didn't try to upsell me and didn't even charge me for his time!  Really appreciate that level of professionalism and will be calling DH Stevens for all my plumbing needs.

Another Quality Job by Stevens! We thought the hot water heater was not heating properly since the shower was not hot. Our tech arrived on time. They explained the troubleshooting and tested the water temperature everywhere and the shower about 10% lower that the rest. The replacement value was on the truck and the problem resolved in under two hours. Very Professional, knowledgeable and courteous. Highly recommended!

They're pretty good.  Came within the window of time they said they'd come and did the job quickly and inexpensively.  The trade-off is that 100% precision doesn't seem to be the goal.  I had a bathtub spout replaced and the guy put in the replacement in such a way that it looks like 11:58 o'clock when you sit in the bathtub and look at it.  From the side, where the guy was sitting when he installed it, it probably looked straight enough, but when you look at it from inside the bathtub, you can tell it's not quite right.  Since it's been caulked and all, I am hesitant to turn it the rest of the way myself, since I don't think I have the right caulk, and it might look messy anyway unless I removed the existing caulk, etc.  It's not a huge deal, but it's a little bit of a drag.  Otherwise, I was very pleased with the speed and efficiency and reasonable cost.

We had to call for an emergency plumber last night as one of our pipes burst due to the freezing cold weather. We have a very old house so things are often a challenge.  I know many families in DC were having the same problem last night so I am sure the company was swamped but they called right back and promised to help.   Carlos quickly appeared at our door ready to help.  He was so professional and careful.  He immediately diagnosed the problem and solved it in a bit over an hour and it involved cutting through our basement ceiling to get to the leaky pipe.   He used drop cloths on our hardwood floors and cleaned up the entire mess afterward  -- doing it all with a smile on his face.  He even gave us tips so we can try to make sure this doesn't happen again.   As he left he mentioned that he had 3 more emergency calls.  We were so very happy with this company and with Carlos.  I hope to never need an emergency plumber again but if I do - this will be the company I call without hesitation.

I have used Stevens Plumbing on two occasions over the last two years. The first time in 2012 they replaced my kitchen and bathroom faucets and the second time (this month) they replaced my bathroom since drain and shower head. Both times, they arrived on time and completed the job thoroughly. I have not had any issues with their quality of work or service. Their prices are reasonable too. Based on my experience, I'd recommend them.

Avoid!  Steve (big guy with pony tail) came to look at my leaking shower.  He tried to persuade me to avoid my insurance company, pointed his finger in my face several times, called me stupid, tried to instigate an argument between me and my neighbor, insulted my girlfriend, refused to provide a formal estimate before beginning work, sought for me to admit all liabilities prior to work (and diagnosis), and was told by my management to leave the building due to his inappropriate behavior.  His assistant gave me a ballpark estimate for the work, which was 3.5 times the amount my insurance company would authorize.  I went to Jiffy plumbing, who did it for 1/4 the price, and they were nice.

Needed to install a gas line in my home, Stevens gave me a reasonable estimate (others were clearly gouging).  Staff were on time, professional, and friendly.  They helped with the permitting and inspection, and went above and beyond during the whole process.  I cannot recommend these guys enough.

Alex, with Stevens Plumbing was AWESOME to be around.  He knows his skill.  Made better suggestions.  And, with a great customer service attitude.

My kitchen water needs are controllable from the building water supply.  And, just because he was so proactive, he solved my broken dishwasher, by unclogging the dishwasher drain output into the garbage disposal!

Gave me a $25.00 Coupon.  And, left me with four $25.00 coupons for my neighbors, too!

Wow!!! I have never had a plumber and his support team be so good, professional, courteous, honest and have fair pricing, These guys were the best from beginning to end.  I have owned a home for over 20 years and as you can imagine I have had a few occasions to call a plumber. I had a break in the main waterline in the house . The access was through a crawl space under the house (not exactly ideal working conditions). I explained this to the person who answered the phone and they said no problem. I had had one plumber from another company come out previously who looked at it and refused to work on it and charged me a $100 fee for the house visit. Stevens, kept their word with regard to the 2 hour time window they gave when the plumber would arrive and notified my by phone 1/2 hour before his arrival. The plumber wore booties when entering the house and cleaned up thoroughly when the job was completed. I would highly Recommend Stevens plumbing for any of your plumbing needs based on end to end service, price, timeliness and professionalism from start to finish. The technician even thanked me for the opportunity to work in my home. Use these guys!!!

If you wonder why the plumber has a pungent odor and why they can't go beyond basic problem solving to fix your toilet clog, that odor is probably weed.

We've used these guys a couple times to (1) fix our running toilet last year and (2) vastly improve the water pressure in our shower three years ago. We've had no running toilet/shower water pressure problems in the years since, so I guess they did a pretty decent job!  They were good about coming right away when we had a problem, and they were generally nice people.   I'm no plumbing expert so I don't know if their prices were particularly cheap or expensive compared to other places. We picked these guys because our management company said Stevens had done work on other units in our building, so they were familiar with the building's plumbing system.  Here's their website: dhstevens.com

====================

Update: Our shower faucet sprung a leak. We were less satisfied this time, in part because it took Stevens nine days to fix it!

On the plus side, we appreciated that they were willing to come out on short notice (Three visits in all, inc. one late-night visit prompted by a panicked call on our part). Stevens also worked effectively with our building manager to turn off the building's water and obtain keys, etc. Finally, the faucet's been working fine since Stevens fixed it. But there were two things they could have done better:

1. We knew water was leaking into our tub, but we didn't know that water was also flowing behind the wall and through our downstairs neighbors' ceiling! It would've saved lots of trouble and expense if the Stevens plumber had noticed this and mitigated it on their first visit.  Instead we didn't find out until a couple days later when our poor neighbors alerted us to the hole in their ceiling! (Hence the panicked late night call).

2. Stevens could improve their system for tracking part orders.  Our old building has old plumbing, so they needed to order an apparently rare Elkay Cartridge from the manufacturer. It took more than a week (from Monday to the following Wednesday) for the part to come in.  What made it difficult was that Stevens could not track this order well enough to tell us when we could expect the part.  Would it be two days? Two weeks? We finally found out the morning the part came in.  Nine days is a long time to have a busted shower with no end in sight.

BTW the total charge was $459, which I was told was the standard flat rate pricing for residential jobs for this type of situation.

Excellent.  Steven's not only feels like a family-run business, they treat you like you're part of the family.  The technician (who came the same day I called when my heat broke in January) ran into a problem with my boiler that took more than one visit to fix but, rather than make me feel like I was hassling them to get the work done, Richard and others at Steven's went out of their way to make sure that I was satisfied with the work and the price.  They're saved in my phone for the next time i have any heating or plumbing work in my house.

I have used them about 1/2 dozen times for relatively minor plumbing repairs as well as removing old/installing new hot water heater.  I have found them totally professional, honest, and efficient. They always came when they said they would, their plumbers were all pleasant and very  professional, and the work was completed efficiently with no problems.  It is nice to have confidence and trust when you call a company for home repair, and so I am very pleased with them.  I don't know that they're cheap, but their prices seem reasonable and fair for the area, and people who do good work should be compensated.  When I first moved here, I tried another plumber that was actually much more expensive and less efficient, so I would highly recommend these guys.

Ask for Stan.  He is the man!!!  I posted a review earlier on a great flooring contractor in the DC area and happy to post a second review today on another amazing contractor in the DC area.

Moving into a new condo has all the stresses that go with buying a new place.  We elected to get all new appliances, but much to our dismay, the new gas stove had its valve placed in the most unfortunate position that directly hit the valve coming out of the wall.  The result was the stove sitting about 5 inches out from the back wall and the front of the stove sitting that far in front of the counter.  Looked stupid!

I picked Stevens because they had great Yelp reviews and now I understand why.

Stan came over to access the situation and we war-gamed multiple solutions.  He came back a few days later and, bam, he opened the wall, moved the gas valve to a position behind the stove where the stove could then be pushed all the way back in.

I was not home and my wife asked him to address several leaky valves from my shotty plumbing work installing the dishwasher and new faucets in the vanity.  He fixed them all and the cost (I won't say) was beyond reasonable.  I mean, very reasonable for this area.

On professionalism.  Stan was very communicable, responsible, and presented very professionally on behalf of Stevens.  He was very nice to speak with and intelligent in conversing about the options for the stove issue.

I will never use anyone by Stevens now and highly recommend anyone who reads this to do the same.

I have not used this plumber yet, but will make it my business to patronize them if and when I need a plumber. I called this company this morning, thinking that my pipes may be frozen; the young man I spoke with gave me very detailed instructions and advise to help me confirm/rule out any major issues and to home-remedy any minor issues. He did not try to hold back on information with the intention to coerce me into hire them and have them visit my home on a federal holiday. I really appreciate the time, attention and care with which he addressed my concerns. This type of customer service goes a long way with a person like me; so I'll be calling them next time I'm in trouble, which may be sooner than later.

I have found my DC plumber. Professional, clean and great work!  I had to have my tub snaked, new shower head installed, but the real 5 stars are for the installation of my hot water heater. Its in an extremely tight space - they found an old model that would fit and spent over six hours making sure it was right. Steve kept his sense of humor and made sure everything was working to my liking before he left. I could not have had better service for a fair price

Had a minor leak under my sink. Stevens had me scheduled for an appointment within days of calling. Wayne showed up, diagnosed the problem, and swapped out our garbage disposal which was leaking from corrosion in just over an hour. Wayne was personable, professional, and Stevens kept me informed every step of the way.

I will be using them again!
