Best General Contractors in Arizona
We added a new room to our house, and also a couple of cinder block walls to separate the front yard from the back. Proctor Custom Builders did both projects, and we couldn't be happier. Everything was done exactly as we wanted and in the time frame promised, the crews were professional and thorough, communication was excellent, and cleanup was thorough. We highly recommend them.

I got lucky finding this guy!!!!
I needed walls and floors replaced from an old roof leak. He was also skilled to handle a hidden water leak in the laundry room.
Come to find out, George is more than just a handy man. He's a professional contractor with lots of experience building houses.
Extremely impressive with how quick George responded to my request. George is assertive, responsive, friendly, and knows what he is doing. He is accommodating and helpful. He also helped me move some items in my house. Just an overall great and trustworthy guy.

We have a 1953 'pyramid shaped roof' slump block ranch style home with a couple of newer 'flat roofed' additions. We had layers of distressed shingles, some rotted fascia wood, rusted and dented venting and a huge water retaining dip in one of the additions. C & H fixed it all with new painted galvanized fixtures and wood, be it plywood or 1x6's. We even tested the dip using a hose on our new roof - its GONE!
Nick High (Owner) stresses quality work and products when he talks to you and it shows up in the finished product. He checks back after the work is finished to be sure you are satisfied. He was easily reachable to answer questions and really understands Sonoran Desert roofing. His fair pricing, honesty, scheduling flexibility along with friendly tear off and finishing crews made the trauma of home repair almost fun.
C & H's roof crew arrived prepared on time each day, communicated well, were skilled, worked hard and cleaned up before they left EVERY day. The new roof looks great and water no longer leaks in around our addition's roof vents either. I highly recommend C & H Roofing if you're looking for a good local Arizona company.

We recently purchased a foreclosure property where the water heater had burst, causing damage to the stand and drywall surrounding the water heater. The bank replaced the water heater, but refused to repair the damaged drywall and it quickly became laden with mold.
On a referral from our Realtor, we hired Wayne Glashagel (Owner of AMA Contstruction) to repair the water heater stand and surrounding drywall. Wayne drained the water heater, disconnect the copper pipes, remove the water heater, tore out the water heater stand, sprayed Killz on the moldy areas and rebuilt the stand from the ground up. Afterward, Wayne reconnected the water heater to the plumbing.
Wayne was very courteous and professional, arrived early for the appointment and did a fantastic job on the repair of the water heater stand. It looked brand new and the drywall texture matched the existing texture perfectly.
I would highly recommend Wayne for any general contract work.

My parents are elderly and hired Todd's to refinish their bathtub. The tub was 20 years old but mostly in great shape my Mom just wanted it to sparkle again. As you can see from the pictures, they paid $525 to create problems they did not gave before. The tub no longer drains properly and Todd's suggestion was to wipe up the water after each shower or bath. It is so much water that after 3 showers, it leaves an full bath towel soaking wet. Since it does not drain, there are constant hard water stains around the area where the water collects. There are other stains further down on the tub that we cannot remove and the finish is pulling up along the walls. The tub was nearly perfect and now we have major drainage issues and no sparkle! I was assured that Steve would come fix the tub for my parents but he cleaned it and left the drainage problem, the pealing and the stains. I feel like Todd's is taking advantage of the situation. You should save your money and hire someone else to refinish your tub!

About 6 months ago we had our 30 year old bathroom remodled by this company. I was so impressed I have told several of my friends about them. First off, I am not a designer of any kind and not at all current on the newest trends in decorating. The owner of the company told me to go to a few differnt wholesale places to look at tile, sinks, faucets, mirrors, medicine cabinets etc.He met me at one of the places to get the sinks, tiles and faucets. I am on the frugel side and he understood. I was attempting to do a tile design for the bathtub area, I had selected mostly things form the clearance area. Long story short, he helped me pick the tiles, some of the clearance tiles I picked didn't have enough tiles. So he showed me some others that were not that much more and it turned out better than I expected. I am a person that uses coupons and always tries to stretch my dollars as far as I can. I had picked out a standard sink and faucet-of course I went for the lowest price. He was pretty straight forward when he said, That style is way out of date and it doesn't really go with the style you said you want. He showed me some on top if the counter sinks, that were actually a good bit more money and the faucet I picked didn't work with the counter top sink. As I was looking at the displays, I knew he was right. I had been looking at Home Depot and Lowe's for a few years to get an idea what I wanted. I didn't see the cabinets or medicine cabinet anywhere else. He ordered the stuff from Lowe's for me. So now we had all the stuff to start the work. Each day they arrived on time, I work from home, so I got to see how the whole thing went. THe leader guy, Brian was very picky, which I think was a good thing. One day, Brian arrived a bit before 7 am and stayed outside, at 7 he came in and started working alone. About 10 minutes later another worker came, I could kind of overhear their conversation, Brian was very clear, but not mean, when telling the guy, it's not okay to be late, we made a promise to start at 7 that means get here before 7, start working at 7. The worker said something about his daughter and Brian just said, call me and tell me so I know. I was very impressed with the level of professional service and the care they took to make my bathroom look so great! I am so proud of our new bathroom, everyone compliments the sinks and the amazing tile design. This bathroom would look great in a model home. They did the job in exactly the time frame they said. The only negative, is one of the workers got some stuff on the carpet in the hallway, they did have the whole area covered in plastic, so I'm not sure how that happened. He tried his best to clean it, we need new carpet anyway and I can't even see it now. I wasn't that mad, because he showed it to me and aplogized and it's old shag.

After researching sheds and storage solutions we found that Alternative Portable Buildings had the best product and price. The price list is on their web site - no hidden charges. Better quality then Tuff shed and the owner Ralph is a pleasure to work with. We ended up with the ranch style shed 12' x 16', added a turbine, 2' x 3' window, and ramp (get the ramp - it's a must). Ralph and crew showed up on time and finished building the shed within 7 - 8 hrs. We are using it for storage but it could easily be converted into a studio or workshop.

Ashco's owner does not stand by his work. My elderly mother on a fixed income had them install a new roof. They installed the flashing wrong around the AC unit. It started leaking on the interior. When I contacted him about the leaking he said it was past the two year warranty. He was notified by a couple of consumer advocate agencies with no response. His ROC status is Voluntary Cancellation. Case in point. If I could give them a zero I would. His business ethics give contractors a bad name. He could care less about the quality of his work.

This is a general contracting firm. I had not used them before, but I have known Jeff Rassmusson for 15 years and he has done various elements of remodel for me in 4 previous homes in Scottsdale. Jeff now works at Modern Group.
The particular job that he oversaw involved installation of hardwood floors, drywall, removal and installation of master bath cabinets, tile work, repair and painting. He is a hands on overseer. I am impressed with not just the quality but the pricing on what I received. I would certainly recommend Jeff and his firm along with all the trades that they use to execute a plan.

crappy attitude during estimate, spent more time talking about the fact he was a celebrity around phoenix because he does radio shows instead of being focused on the estimate of the house. really full of himself, didn't know what he was talking about, had 5 other estimates before him and he really was the worst. shocked he he does this for a living in the first place way more interested in his show than in doing work. wouldn't recommend to anyone

I'm not one to usually rant, but Meritage Homes deserves it. And everyone who is even considering buying a home from Meritage should read this review and view the pictures I've posted.
We closed on our house on January 31, 2014 in the Gilbert Commons subdivision. Our 2,760 sqf house only took 4 months to build from the ground up. That should already make one hesitant.
Fast forward to almost 4 months later, and literally almost none of the repairs that we've submitted have been corrected.
Steve, the superintendent, and the sales associates (Marcie and Becky) have done nothing to alleviate the issues at hand and only procrastinate sending contractors out to fix the problems. The problems I'm specifically referring to will be referenced in the pictures attached. I'm scared to think of the issues hiding behind the walls; those we can't actually see. Thankfully the near-future will probably require us to relocate to the Bay Area for work, so we shouldn't be stuck with this issue for long.
I will post updates and modify my review as necessary. Until then, don't purchase a home from Meritage. They rush the house through the building process and then refuse to fix the issues at hand, which are caused by their sloppy contractors. Absolutely no pride is put into the building of these homes.
Update: It's been ten full months since we closed. We finally have a straight wall with paint. Gaps still in the granite/tile/air vents. Carpet messed up where they tried to fix our tile upstairs. We currently have no working outlets in either upstairs bathroom. This builder is a cruel joke.
Update 2 (Dec. 2, almost a year from closing): Carpet somewhat fixed (by stretching and glue). Outlets working again. We've had our second bee infestation due to gaps and cracks in the sidings of the house where they've found suitable to nest. I've attached a picture of the bees coming through the bathroom vents. We are in the process of roof repairs and hopefully Meritage will reimburse us for the bee exterminations.

I hired Wendler Construction to renovate my home, he in turn hired D and J Construction to frame parts of the original house, an 800 sqft addition and garage. They did a horrible job... they used 2x4's when the plans called for 2x6's, used wrong footings on the front wall of the house, used wrong calculations on the truss fabrication thus not allowing enough room for the hvac duct work, and had to reframe interior walls and a new skylight, which they did wrong resulting in having to purchase a custom skylight. Wendler Construction's lack of experience, skill, and ability to manage my renovation, caused over 5 months of delays and tens of thousands of dollars in additional costs. And then halfway thru the project, right after Christmas break, Wendler Construction quit on me. After almost a year in construction, I am still finding mistakes made under Wendler Construction's management. I would not recommend them.

Our home was damaged by a water heater leak. The owner of Nor'easter determined early on that we were a small job. We learned later that what he meant was that we were low priority. Several weeks later (he admitted that the job took longer then it should have) we have a home repair job that ran well into 5 figures that seems to have been done properly and looks nice.
Communication is definitely not the strong suit of this contractor. And anytime that we the consumer are positioned between a contractor and an insurance company you can rest assured that the process will be confusing. I still don't have the numbers sorted out!
