Larry and his assistant, Dan, were out to deal with a faulty ballast in one of the street lights in our condo complex. They have been able to repair others for us even though they are hard to find parts for because of their age. Both exude knowledge, experience, and genuine friendliness. A delight to work with.

Randy is just one big wad of awesome. Works quickly, cleans everything up so it's better than when he arrived, doesn't scoff at how hubby screwed up the wiring on a DIY binge. Expert electrician, reasonably priced, quick response. He stuck his hand up in the ceiling and a rat ran across his hand, and yet he came back after we got rid of the rat and finished the job. Highly recommend.

Juan was awesome! My lights were flickering Friday night and he fixed the issue and made improvements to my panel the next morning!
Arrived 30 mins early. Listened and looked at the issues. Explained everything to me so I can understand.
Everything was good for the fix
However I asked him for a quote on switching out the panel and was told he would send it when he gets home. Then I asked him again and was told tomorrow. Then he just disappeared. Busy I guess.

Ray put in an EV charging station in my garage for me. He did good work, and for a reasonable price! They will do all the calculations, pull the building permit, show up on time and all you do is sit back and enjoy their good work. I recommend using Got Watts for any electrical project.

We used Hancock and James last year to install recessed lighting in our living room. They did a decent job installing the lights at a fair price. We had a much bigger project this month to replace all our old light fixtures with recessed lights. Hancock confirmed on the phone that they would be using same recessed lights as used in the previous project, however, what they installed were cheap $4 recessed lights you can order from Alibaba.com! I have 3 kids under 5 so was distracted and didn't check on the quality of the lights installed. Plus i was jet lagged coming back from europe the night before, however, it was my fault for not checking the fixtures.
My wife upon returning back to home after the completion of the job noticed that the light quality and look was very different. I asked Hancock to fix the issue by replacing the lights with the ones we can provide and since i take responsibility i can provide the new lights at zero cost to him. But instead of accepting that he used cheap lights and would replace them, he first said that those older lights are no longer being sold!! That was a lie. As i found the same or similar ones at home depot, lowes and ace hardware stores or amazon. Second he asked $60 to replace each light!! That's in addition to the light i will buy and supply him.
Definitely not going to use these guys and will be filing a complaint with the state of california consumer bureau on ethics and the way the business was conducted.

I have a two story townhouse that gets hot up stairs in the summer. The two upstairs bedrooms have vaulted ceilings with no existing electrical cans in the ceiling. So, I needed an electrician to install the cans and wire in the associated switch.
So, I called a few contractors and eventually hired Steve who provided a reasonable estimate and was easy to get along with. During the estimate visit, Steve recommended a creative way to retain the switch for wall receptacles ((think table or floor lamps) and add a dedicated switch for the ceiling fans. He also recommended a whole house fan that I hadn't thought of. So he has a bit of creativity and experience to help suggest improvements.
He and John showed up on time for the estimate and install. They also respect the customers home by doing a clean job, tarping the work area and picking up after themselves. They're both very personable and are a pleasure to work with.

I contacted Jason for several electrical issues and he called me one morning and said he could come over in about 15 minutes. He came over with several guys and a few of my jobs turned out to be a bit more complicated and it became clear to me that because Jason squeezed me in, he didn't really have enough time to take care of all of my projects, in spite of the fact that I had not indicated that my issues were immediate. He left having handled only 2 issues, but left 2 other issues, half finished. It was clear that they were having trouble figuring out how to fix them, and that they needed to be somewhere else and couldn't give those projects the time they needed. He told me he would come back, but then I didn't hear back from him. I was really disappointed, because he has good reviews, and maybe had he scheduled me with a regular time slot instead of squeezing me in, I would have gotten full service and he would have had all of my projects completed.

Let me start off by saying that it didn't exactly start off on a positive note, as they were over an hour late showing up for the initial issue for which I called them. All the lights and plugs in one room suddenly stopped working. This was the 2nd time this happened in a couple months. The first time, we had a different electrician come out and he never found the issue but the lights suddenly began to work again while he was fiddling around in the subpanel, so he scratched his head, said he wasn't sure what it was, collected his $165 for a 20min service call, then left.
Then when it happened again, we called Five or Free and were told that they would be here between such and such time the next day. Long story short, they were over an hour late and I was quite frustrated, but they apologized sincerely and profusely and wanted to have a chance at fixing the problem, w/ no charge due to their tardiness. They figured out the issue within less than an hour (it was a loose connection in the home run outlet that was affecting the rest of the circuit). The first guy that came out a couple months prior didn't even check for this issue, though it's apparently a common reason for the problem we were having. During the entire troubleshooting process, Gilbert and Alexis, the owners of the company, explained everything they were doing and why they were doing it. I was impressed at their enthusiasm for their work and their willingness to educate the homeowner. True to their promise, they didn't charge for fixing the problem.
This brings me to the second part of my electrical saga. I had been planning on replacing the electrical subpanel with a modern subpanel with AFCI breakers to decrease the risk of fire. It's an old house built in 1969 and had the old style breakers which don't protect against arcing due to faulty or loose connections, a common reason for house fires, apparently. I decided to have Five or Free do the job since they seemed really honest, trustworthy and knowledgeable. I was a bit surprised at how much they quoted me since it was quite a bit more than another quote I had gotten. But Gilbert explained that they guarantee service on their work for 17yrs & materials for 7yrs, that they would eat the cost if we are not completely satisfied, they guarantee there would be no additional costs for unanticipated issues, their overhead is more than a solo operation due to their fair pay and benefits to their employees, etc. I was satisfied with their explanation for the higher cost and given their promise to do the job to my satisfaction, I decided to go with them. We scheduled them to come out the next week. They showed up on time and even called ahead to let me know when they'd arrive. They started on the project at 9am. They thought it would take till around 5-6pm, but being an old house with some funky wiring, it took a lot longer than anticipated. They were there till ~10pm and at one point there were 4 guys working on it, including the 2 owners. They supplied power to our fridge by running a wire from the main. After they finished installing the new subpanel with new AFCI breakers, we seemed to be back in business with power to the house again, but one of the new breakers kept tripping every time we turned it on, so it was apparent the new breakers were doing their job and detecting something weird in the wiring somewhere. It was very late by this point, so they decided to come back the next day to troubleshoot the issue with that circuit and placed a temporary non-AFCI breaker there so we'd have power.
Well, the problem wasn't so simple because the wiring in the house was not straightforward. They ended up coming out 4 or 5 more times and spending several hours each time to finally figure out the source of the problem, which was found to be coming from 1 outlet in which there were shared neutral wires from 2 circuits. Apparently, the new AFCI breakers are so sensitive, they will detect & be tripped by any number of different wiring issues in the house, hence the reduced risk of electrical fires. I'm still not sure whether the shared neutrals was even a fire danger, but I was happy that the guys were very persistent and determined, and finally solved the mystery of the tripping AFCI. I doubt that too many other electricians would have spent so much extra time and effort to solve the issue without charging extra. Gilbert and Alexis lived up to their promise to complete the work to my satisfaction. During the entire process, they were patient, pleasant & courteous, explained clearly what the potential issues were and how they were going about trying to find the problem. In the end, I felt like I got a crash course on residential electrical systems and now I feel much more confident doing some simple electrical work myself, such as changing out outlets and switches. I wouldn't hesitate to call these guys again in the future for other electrical work. Highly recommended! And nice guys, too.

What I needed done: My son's room has a stupid fluorescent lighting ballast hanging on the ceiling for lighting and I hate it. The cord runs down the wall and INTO the socket where I can't get to it (as it's electrical and will kill me). I also need that outlet to be always on instead of switched and the lighting to run directly from the switch.
Called Clever Electric last Thursday. We set up a date for Tuesday. He arrived at around 8:10 a.m., looked at the room and went to work. He and another electrician had the job done in LESS THAN AN HOUR. The good news? They didn't even have to turn off the electricity in the house to do it!
Good work. Great price. They put plastic sheets down over all of my son's stuff before working, cleaned up after themselves and generally left the house nicer than it had been before they got there.
I am hiring them back to do all of the other rooms in my house. I highly, highly recommend them!

Francisco sent his crew back to retest the system, found out that the micro inverters were the issue. Since they are still under warranty the manufacturer will replace all 24 micro inverters for me. It will take 2-4 weeks for them to ship. But for now I have 3 new inverters working that Francisco was kind enough to let me use it while waiting for the replacement.

I called Lam on a Saturday morning to help with my kitchen light dimmer which stopped working. He was over in a few hours to fix it, finished the job very quickly and didn't over-charge me for what ended up being a small job.
