My wife and I worked with Brian on a number of electrical upgrades to our home, including full electrical scope for our kitchen remodel and installation of numerous light fixtures. We initially hired Brian to help our condo association with installation of exit signs in our hallways. He did a great job so we hired him again to do some electrical work in our own condo unit.

He made minimal holes in the drywall and saved the pieces for us so that we could get our handyman to patch.

Brian's customer service and expertise is top notch and he even made some recommendations that I plan to use in my mom's future remodeling plans. I was in a jam with needing to get a permit on our main panel as soon as possible. Brian came out to our house quickly and took a look. He gave me two options: one where he could file the permit for me and potentially do any work, but he actually recommended that I do everything myself and he took the time to tell me what I needed to do. It isn't that often that you find someone so friendly and acts with integrity like Brian does. He could have easily taken my simple job, but he saved me a ton of money by walking me thru what to do myself and my issue was resolved successfully. I tried to install a Ring doorbell by myself.  While I seemed to do everything correctly, it didn't work.   After some more tries on my part, I gave up and contacted BMH Electric for help.  When so many service people are not returning emails, etc., because your job may be too small, Brian did.  I had to wait as I was outside his usual work area, but it was worth it.  Brian showed up on time to check out my non-functioning Ring doorbell.  

He ran down the problem, my 67 year old doorbell chime had given up working. He gave me two options.  I could order a Ring chime and he would charge me the service fee, or it would take him four hours of work for more than double the fee.  Honestly, given Brian's work, either would have been fine, but I really appreciated his giving me the options and decided for the less expensive.  

I wouldn't hesistate to hire Brian again.  You'll get great service at a fair price.  What more can you ask for?!?

Excellent work and professional service. I called Brian on a  weekend after my garage lights wouldn't turn on and he was able to book me Monday morning - I am always happy to pay for quick turnaround. Knowledgable, personable, and patient - I'll be referring Brian to all my friends.

Small issue - outside outlets stopped working. Brian was responsive to my messages, arrived close to the arranged time. Root caused the issue and cost was reasonable and was very helpful in answering queries I had on the issues causing the problem and future proofing to make safer. This review is long overdue, but I hired Brian and his team to do some custom home theater speaker work. Brian installed in-ceiling Klipsch CDT-5800-C, wall mounted a pair of surrounds, and wired up a monolith subwoofer. All of the wiring was done through the walls and looks completely seamless. Brian even took the time to help me configure my audio system and it sounds phenomenal with the clean look of being integrated into the walls. I shopped around as well and Brian gave me a great price. I honestly couldn't be happier and would use BMH again for any future electrical / audio needs.

We hired Brian to help us with a TV mount, cat6k wiring modification, and installing security cameras with floodlights. He was quick to answer all of our questions, easy to get in touch with, and very knowledgeable about the work that needed to be done. Despite his tight schedule, he managed to squeeze us in over a couple of weekends. He is extremely personable and we would definitely hire him again for electrical work/upgrades around the house.

Brian installed our chandelier on a 17-foot ceiling above a set of staircase - very challenging location. He was prompt, communicative and did a flawless job. Highly recommended.

Don't waste your time and money with this company!!!  The owner, Brian, initially asked for photos of the exterior sides of my house where I wanted the three Ring cameras installed.  After receiving the requested photos, he quoted me $1,800 over the phone which includes redoing a Ring system that was previously installed by another electrician. Then, I asked if he can come over to see exactly where and how we wanted them installed, and he did.  However, during the walk-through appointment, he took pictures of the mentioned redo project, sent and texted it to someone while arrogantly smirked.  In the midst of conveying our wishes, he constantly looked on his phone, texting and smirking, which was extremely rude and unprofessional. Then, he gave us a verbal quote that is higher than what he originally quoted me during our phone conversation. It is now, $2,300!  At the end of the appointment, he told us that he'll send us a final written estimate for the entire project and left his business card.  Little did we know, he had no intentions on working on the project and left us hanging.  It's been a 3-4 weeks and we never heard back from him.  Honestly, we would have hired this man and proceeded from there, but he couldn't even make a courtesy call to inform us he's not interested.  Brian has no word of honor and no concept of what it is to be a professional and business owner. Go elsewhere if you want someone who is professional and still has human compassion, rather than someone who has a superiority complex (like he's the only qualified individual to perform the task on hand) and whose only objective is to gain profit!!!

We needed canned lights in a couple of bedrooms. Brian was super responsive on an estimate and provided good availability.  He did the job in half a day and kept the work space very clean.  Lights are working great.  We'll definitely look to BMH for future electrical work. Thanks Brian!

Brian installed a NEMA 14-50 outlet in my garage so I can charge my electric vehicle.  He was very prompt and did an excellent job!  He was very nice and answered all my questions my partner and I had - would highly recommend for any house project and would definitely go with him again :)

It was very easy to interact with Brian, via email or text we were able to discuss the project, and schedule a date for it. Brian was on time. He did a terrific job, extremely clean. I needed to install a Tesla wall charger, which involved adding amp circuit in my main panel. The installation is super clean. I also asked him to instal 2 outdoor outlets and same, perfect job, super clean. He is now saved in my favorite contact and will for sure use his services for my next project. There aren't enough stars on Yelp to describe how much we love Brian and his crew at BMH Electric! We first hired Brian almost 5 years ago when we bought our first home. We knew from the disclosures that our new-to-us 1950s era home had knob and tube wiring and a potentially risky, older electrical panel, and we wanted to bring everything up to modern standards for our peace of mind. We also wanted to add a few things to the home like some overhead lighting and an EV charger. We read a lot of reviews of electricians, and met a few in person for an estimate, and Brian was the clear winner for us from the get-go on a number of fronts.

Brian is everything you want in a contractor: extremely knowledgeable, thoughtful, friendly, respectful, and personable, pays perfect attention to detail, and he does what he says he'll do, when he says he'll do it, for the agreed upon price. We felt like we found a unicorn. He was the first contractor we worked with as new homeowners and he really set the bar high for what we hope for in experts who have worked on our home. Everything he did for us worked perfectly over the following years so we never had a need to call him back to the house after our initial project, but my husband and I would always smile when we'd see his van around town and say to each other how we wish we could work with him again one day.

Fast forward to now, where we're the new owners of another quirky older home that could use a little TLC. We again knew we had some things to look into from the home inspection, and also had a list of upgrades we wanted to make so the home would fit our needs. We were excited to be able to call Brian again! He came out promptly for an estimate, took detailed notes of our somewhat random wishlist of items, and had good suggestions on how to make it all work. He quickly turned around an estimate covering everything we'd mentioned, and was able to start work within a good timeframe afterwards. Our new home is decidedly less easy to work in than the old one -- additions and alterations over the years by previous owners have made some parts of the home difficult to get to in terms of attic/crawlspace access. Brian and his team were undeterred in figuring out a way to make things work (and work well at that; not hacked together) and get the jobs done despite the challenges presented by our home's structure (which he always explained to us, and which were also clearly evident), always with a positive attitude. The BMH crew's work was clean and tidy and they were always thoughtful to confirm exactly where we wanted things placed. The team worked hard to get the job finished in the agreed-upon timeframe and we already feel better knowing that BMH was here!

Finally, it's worth calling out that we really appreciate Brian's expertise coupled with his communication style. He's a great combination of really smart and also really great to chat with. We're nerds so we've occasionally had weird or nerdy questions for Brian and he always helpfully and kindly answers our questions in detail. He's helped to educate us about each home we've had, mentioned things he and his assistant noticed while working in the guts of our home, and he's made some really great recommendations for fixtures that would meet our needs or things we might find valuable to do. I also have to say as a woman how much I appreciate that he chats with both my husband and I as equals, which isn't always the case with other contractors.

Brian is truly the best of the best, and we've enthusiastically recommended him whenever we've had a chance to. It brings us peace of mind to know he's worked on our homes!

I can't recommend Brian enough for electrical work! We bought our first electric car and I reached out to him to install a high-voltage outlet in our garage so we could charge our car. He responded right away and we booked an appointment for the next day. He arrived on time and quickly added the outlet. I really liked his attention to detail and personality: he is a nice person and a great communicator. I was curious and watched him while he worked: as he was doing each step (turning off the breaker, installing the outlet, etc) he told me what was going on. His pricing was very reasonable. And he was very focused on safety, which I appreciated.
A year later, we experienced an issue where our car wasn't charging properly on a Saturday. Our car had very little charge and we needed to drive it to work on Monday, so I texted Brian. He gave me some basic steps for me to try to investigate and trouble shoot on my own. When those didn't solve the problem, he very kindly squeezed us into his schedule for the next morning, which was a Sunday, even though he had other appointments. I was very grateful he was willing to work on a Sunday so we could try to get the problem fixed in time to drive to work on Monday. Brian showed up on time again. He quickly tested things out. The breaker was fine and the outlet was fine, so he was able to  determine that the issue was with one of the wires in our wall between the outlet and the breaker. Most likely due to some defect, likely a nail nicking the wire during construction work a few years ago, the wire degraded over time and failed. So the issue had nothing to do with any of Brian's work (he had just installed the outlet, which was working fine). Trying to fix that wire in the walls would be very involved and take time, so we brainstormed options. Since it was most important for us to have a way to charge our car right away, he installed a second outlet on another high-voltage circuit that was working fine. Thanks to his responsiveness, we quickly had a way to charge our car again.
If (when) I have future electrical needs for my house, I will definitely be reaching out to Brian again. He is a pleasure to work with and his great service and professionalism really stand out!

I hired Brian twice, once to do a complete rewire of our house along with recessed light installation. Another time, we hired him for a  external outlet and fixture light installation in our backyard shed. We couldn't have been happier with his level of professionalism and the quality of work. He is an extremely experienced electrician who always listens to you, makes sure to deliver what you want and works in a very timely manner. He is the textbook definition of an honest, knowledgeable and easy going working man.

If you want to hire an electrician, do not go for a cheap company. Instead, spend a couple of dollars more but make sure your million dollar investment is in safe hands. I would absolutely recommend BMH electric and I'll be hiring Brian in the future.

Brian and his assistant were brilliant. Bought and Installed two new bathroom exhaust fans in a jiffy!! Extremely Professional !! I have found my perfect electrician for all future home repairs and improvements.

Brian and Moses did a fantastic job of replacing the knob & tube wiring in our house, replacing 2 old panels with one new outdoor panel, and running new conduit to our pool equipment. Tracing and troubleshooting a crazy mix of old knob & tube and romex is quite the job and they were efficient and did a great job.

Really enjoyed working with them and wouldn't hesitate to hire them again for any future electrical work.

Wow. One of the best professional services experiences I've had to date. New home owner and the lights and electric weren't what they should have been. Brian and his partner worked on a Sunday to transform our home's lighting- and we couldn't be happier with the result. Took literally all day, and safe to say the work ethic at BMH is unmatched. Beyond that, Brian is friendly, responsive, and highly knowledgeable about his craft. I'll be working with BMH for the duration - hard to find a great resources like this in the Bay Area.

Very fast and easy to work with. I had a simple job of installing a smoke detector and they were able to get me scheduled quickly and the job was reasonably priced. Brian was friendly and straightforward with his pricing which I always appreciate. Would definitely recommend.

My wife contacted BMH for the below services:
1)  Install a camera door bell
2)  Relocate an existing flood light to a new location
3)  Install wall sconces outside the garage door

The install went okay, but the job took longer and substantially more money than we thought it would be prior to scheduling the appointment.  Unlike what other reviewers wrote, I cannot say the workmanship was excellent.  The caulking was poor (and no effort was made to improve it), and there was no cleanup of the sheetrock dust left behind.  The worst thing was BMH left a live flood light box open, and told me that because his time is up for the day, he could onlyduct tape a foil over the outlet box.

I met with 4 electricians and we choose Brian with BMH Electric.  He is the nicest, most personable, honest electrician! He sent us a quote the same day we met with him (2 of the 4 electricians I met with with never even provided me a written quote - only a rough estimate- although they said they would send me a written quote- why do they even waste their time coming out to our house?).  Brian's quote was very reasonable.  He spent the entire day (8-4:30) to install recessed lighting in two rooms, install a new EV charger, and as a bonus changed two lights canisters and bulbs that were too high for my husband to do (above the stairs- which required a very high ladder).

Brian provided a estimate very efficiently for a project that involved a lot of unknown replacing knob and tube wiring and upgrading our outlets to meet code. He and his assistant worked worked super-efficiently and helped us keep the kitchen appliances running through the process. Whenever we had questions, he was incredibly helpful. BMH Electric is an amazing company to work with and we highly recommend them! Everything was done in a safe, socially distanced way and we're so glad to have everything working well now.

Brian did a fantastic job.  I had him install ethernet cables in my home.  My situation was a bit complicated and Brian was incredibly helpful in advising me ahead of time.  He took the time to explain things to me ahead of time both over email and then in person when he came to my house so I could figure out exactly what I wanted done.  He showed up right on time and both he and his assistant were very friendly and respectful and followed all COVID safety protocols.  Most importantly the job was done perfectly.  He also left my home completely clean.  And he finished his work on budget and ahead of schedule.  I even learned a lot from him and he very kindly stayed later to answer some of my other questions about installing a home stereo system.  There is no question, I will absolutely be calling Brian again for any more electrical work I have in the future!

Brian has come out to do a couple of electrical-related upgrades for us at our home in Redwood Shores. First job was to do remove some old track lighting and replace with several sets of canned lighting in the living room, sitting room, and master bedroom. We also upgraded some light switches and installed an extra outlet in the bathroom. Everything was completed on time and looks great. Brian also came out again to help us troubleshoot one of the smarthome switches we had installed. Another job had him installing an extra GFCI outlet in the garage for a elliptical. He managed to find a simpler and cheaper way to install install it, without running a surface conduit, for a much cleaner look.

We'd definitely recommend him for any electrical work you might have. He does tend to get busy so def plan ahead if you need him to come out. And def echo other comments saying that he was pleasant, professional, and affordable.

After an electrical fire in our garden we needed a total rewire. The first company we had out to quote spent more time telling me what they couldn't do vs what they could. Brian walked in and was a breath of fresh air! He inspected the electrics and summarized the job clearly and within 24 hours provided an estimate. We recently hired Brian to install an EV home charger (ChargePoint brand). He was very responsive to original inquiry, easy to schedule with and did an excellent job with the installation. Highly recommend and will use again for any additional electrical needs!

We had the majority of our outdated (1980s) lights replaced. Brian helped us select various lighting options throughout the house. Brian and his worker were here for 2 1/2 days and did their jobs cleanly, quietly, and efficiently. We would call BMH again for electrical work.

We recently moved into our new house in San Carlos and knew it needed electrical upgrades since it was built in 1951.

We received estimates from a variety of general contractors and electricians but in the end we decided to go with Brian because of his professionalism, thoroughness, and knowledge.

Some of the projects he completed for us included wall mounting our TV's, recessed lights, washer & dryer circuits, main panel upgrade, and outlets.

We are getting ready to move and needed to replace plugs, switches, fixtures and have outdoor lighting issues resolved.  Looked on Yelp for good local electrician and saw the reviews for Brian at BMH Electric.  Emailed Brian with our list of needs, he responded quickly - came and took a look, and provided a fair quote.  We agreed and he and his team came in and did the work quickly, cleaned up, and were super friendly and professional.  The day they were working, PG&E turned the power off on the street.  They couldn't test all the work when they finished.  A couple of minor things didn't work, we emailed and he was back the next day to complete.  My wife (the real boss) and I were very pleased with Brian and BMH and highly recommend them.

This is a long delayed review.  Yet better late than never.  Brian and his team did an excellent job installing lighting in my entire house.  I cannot be happier.  Everything is done beautifully.  
Brian offered good suggestions and did not suggest whatever not necessary.  They are on time, came as scheduled and finished all work on time.  The team is very polite, quiet while working, and cleaned up afterwards.  Plus Brian is very amicable to changes even after job had started.  After 9 months, everything is working well.

Brian's work was off-the-charts great. When I first contacted him to install a ceiling fan, his estimate seemed high. But then he took time to explain exactly what needed to be done and why the job was more complex than I'd realized. Given Brian's minimum charge for work, he encouraged me to line up a few other jobs for him to accomplish in case the fan installation proceeded more quickly than he was anticipating. On the designated day, he arrived right on time with an assistant-- both wearing masks (properly). While his assistant covered the room to minimize mess, Brian surveyed 3 other jobs around the house, declared he could accomplish them all, went to Lowe's to buy supplies, and for the rate he originally quoted, (1) installed the fan with an unbelievably minimal amount of cutting, (2) replaced all of our under-cabinet lighting in the kitchen, (3) repaired a worn-out GFI outlet, and (4) replaced a broken pump/fountain in our small pond out back. When one little thing went wrong (our fault, not Brian's), he stayed late doing an unpleasantly dirty job to make it perfect at no extra charge. They say that you get what you pay for. With Brian, we got 4x what we paid for-- quite literally. PS- It was also fun to hear Brian teaching his assistant throughout the day. If Brian develops more Brians, the world will be a better place.

Brian Hanson, the owner, is a first class electrician with wide experience working in commercial and residential buildings and landscaping for several decades. He is extremely honest, fair and highly competent. He has done a number of unusual projects in our older architect designed home over the years including recessed lighting, kitchen floor heating, and installing outdoor lighting for the gardens and fountains. He is very careful about complying with all codes and safety measures. He keeps up on the latest technology in his field and can offer solutions that can result in better outcomes at lower cost than you might have expected. He responds quickly to inquiries and is very up front about costs. On top of all this, he is a genuinely nice person, a pleasure to have around as he works.

Brian is fantastic! Really knowledgable, great at assessing your specific situation & making recommendations vs applying generic solutions, & incredibly friendly. He makes himself available, & has been really willing to take on all kinds of electric jobs (small, big, random, etc). When we bought our home Brian came in & installed recessed can lights throughout the house... they look great aesthetically & totally changed the vibe of house for the better. HUGE RECOMMENDATION!

Brian did an amazing job and I would not hesitate to hire him again. He was professional, friendly, and efficient... and extremely knowledgeable. He was flexible and transparent with pricing throughout the job -- as I asked him to do more than we had initially agreed upon. He also coordinated well with the construction company that I hired to do the construction/drywall needed for the old light removal. Brian was affordable, on time, did great work and was very open and honest to deal with throughout. When I found a small issue with the work that was not Brian's fault (I had him put a light fixture in a place where the door blocked it), he came back out soon after and was able to quickly and easily fix it.

We're new home owners so we very much appreciate having an electrician we can trust and will be using him for future jobs.

Brian is our go-to electrician, the kind of person you can call for big jobs or small, or even just to ask a question. He has rewired our entire garage, making it much safer and more accessible than it had been, replaced switches and light fixtures, even installed a ceiling fan that looks great and runs perfectly, making our living room so much more comfortable.

Brian's prices are extremely reasonable. He is very accessible and quick to respond when you have a problem. He is very gracious, being especially kind to my mom when she needed his help with a small problem.

As a homeowner you like to feel like you have your regular contractor, plumber, handyman or electrician. I haven't had much luck with the first three, but can definitely say that Brian is my electrician, and I'd never call anyone else.

Brian helped us install a new garage outlet, light fixtures and timer. He took the time to explain the options, was on time, and finished the job quickly and affordably.  We'd definitely call him again for any future electrical needs.

I cannot recommend BMH Electric and Brian enough: If you need any electrical work done in the San Carlos area, call Brian!!!  We had a difficult electric project, which included adding outlets to our ceiling (for wireless speakers), adding an outlet to a cement brick wall, and installing several ceiling lights/fans, all through a very narrow attic -- after other electricians had told us that the project wasn't possible, Brian came out and understood exactly what we wanted to achieve.  He gave us great advice and had creative suggestions for the results we wanted.  Brian and his team did a great job completing our project -- we are so happy and will be using Brian for all future electric projects.

I wanted to install fiber cable, and needed an electrical outlet on the outside of the building right next to the cable and phone inputs. Brian came out and installed an outlet without any ugly drilling or wiring. He went the extra step of making things perfect. Afterwards AT&T even asked who did such a nice job. I was very happy with BMH Electric service and will now use them for all my electrical needs!

I worked with Brian last year to completely rewire my 1962-built condo, and he did a fantastic job. He was knowledgeable, friendly, affordable, and 100% on time. He also carefully walked me through everything he did, so I felt complete confidence in what he was doing. I had an issue with one of the lights and called Brian. He showed up the next day and replaced the light.

I was looking for someone to replace our fluorescent lighting in the kitchen and our outdated lights in the family room and hallways. I sent out a few requests for information and Brian responded quickly and was able to come to the house within a week to give us an estimate. He answered all our questions and made some good suggestions. We ended up also adding lights to our living room with very high ceilings because of his recommendations. We never thought it was something that could even be done. This speaks to his knowledge and experience as an electrician. As for the actual workday he was very considerate of our home and took the time to cover just about everything. Overall we are extremely happy with the installation. Its amazing how lights can change the whole atmosphere in your home. It was an extreme pleasure working with him!

Brian was really great to work with! He was the only provider who gave us a very detailed/ competitive electrical bid, followed up with us and answered all of our questions. Brian worked very hard for three days, removing, relocating, installing and finishing the new panel. Brian's help continued with the final inspection and after the job with PG&E. We installed recessed LED lights throughout our house.  The whole experience dealing with Brian and the quality of his were excellent.

He and the other guy he works with did a great job, covering everything up, being on time every day of work and leaving the work area when they left.  We had Brian pull a permit for the job and he schedule the inspections and everything went well.

I trusted Brian Hanson of BMH electric because he is clearly a reliable, organized, communicative person.  He kept his scheduled appointment and called ahead when he realized he would be stuck in traffic.  He took the time to explain what was needed for my service upgrade and gave an extremely reasonable quote.  Although I did not end up hiring him for my major service upgrade, I would definitely call him for future jobs based upon his honesty and reliability in my interaction with him.

After receiving a few estimates, we decided to proceed with Brian. He was so patient with us for being first time home buyers. We had tons of questions and wasn't sure how to proceed, what was best and how to go about things. He explained everything to us and even made suggestions when he thought things weren't necessary. We had LED recess lighting put in, grounded and added outlets, added tv and internet cables, and put in a complete new electric panel and tubing.

He got back to us right away and finished when he said he was going to. He also wasn't upset when we kept on adding things to our list. His prices was a lot cheaper than the other people we looked into and he allowed us to use coupons for additional discounts.

The only minor complaint was aesthetics. He definitely knows about electricity, however he is not as precise with the holes he made for the recess lighting and switches. Some of them were bigger than the actual switch box and lighting where we had to do patch work.

We really did enjoy working with him, not only was he friendly, he was extremely professional and you can tell he knew what he was doing. I have and will continue to recommend him to my friends and family. We will definitely be contacting him again when we proceed with the recess lighting in our family room.

We needed to upgrade our main panel to support dual meters from PG&E, plus all electrical wiring for electric car charging in garage. I contacted multiple electricians. Brian of BMH Electric showed up on time and provided the most reasonable quote with very detailed descriptions on what should be done.

After we selected him to do the work, he arranged inspection, he and his crew member got everything done nicely in the same day. After it passed inspection in early afternoon, he waited patiently for PG&E crew (who were very late)  to reconnect electricity and he did the necessary testing. I got my electric car in the past week and everything is working great. I would highly recommend BMH Electric.

Brian is the best!  I've called Brian for numerous electrical problems and he has always been prompt, skilled, polite and neat. He always knows what the problem is and how to fix it.  He has installed fixtures, fixed reverse polarity, switched old outlets for new ones, solved mysterious electrical problems that no one else could...He's excellent and very reasonably priced.

Brian replaced an ineffective bathroom fan/light for us, and the experience couldn't have been better.
