Robert was professional and responsive. He helped me understand the cost of the different options I had in mind for installing a NEMA 14-50 outlet from my laundry room subpanel. I enjoyed the fact that he wasn't a salesman, just a local, one-man, mobile electrician shop.
He gave me different quotes for the different options on the spot and told me that they'd be final, there wouldn't be additional markups on the day on installation.
He also took his time to be very clear about how and when to use my EV charger as I had asked for a configuration that could potentially overload the subpanel if I decided to run all my Ovens and drying machines at the same time that I charge my EV.
His work was clean and fast, and I now have an EV charger outlet in my garage that I can run at night to charge my EV. All in all it took 3-4 days from point of contact to installation complete. He came by on a Sunday to do the onsite inspection and quote, then installed the next morning. I'm very satisfied with this type of efficiency and quality of work.

We just got our Tesla wall charger installed by Robert today . Very satisfied with the good job and highly recommend Robert to anyone who wants to find a trusty , honest and reliable electrician. Initially we started the project quote through Yelp. Robert is very responsive and asked details of the project ( we even did a virtual call to confirm ). He gave us a very reasonable quote and after discussion, we decided to follow his advice and did the installation with the main panel ( vs sub panel) . The actual installation work was done pretty quick and neat by Robert and his teammate, he also gave us some good suggestions after the job is done . We are happy to use Robert again for any future project !
We needed a flush mount ceiling light installed and contacted Robert via yelp. He was quick to respond and helped us decide what type of light to get. After we got the light fixture, he was able to come by and install it for us within a day. We reached out to him again to install a motion sensor light for us. He was able to schedule an install the following day and did a great job.

Robert is an honest, reliable and trustworthy guy. He was the first to respond to my project inquiry on Yelp and gave a very reasonable diagnostics quote while others who offered their services quoted 10 times more than he did without even seeing or knowing the issue.
He was able to accommodate his schedule to my availability and was prompt and professional.
Aside from the main project I had him fix, my brother also took the opportunity to have him check other electrical issues we had at our residence and he worked on them immediately and made sure things that needed replacing were replaced according to code.
And the final price? Absolutely reasonable and not far from his initial quote, including the additional cost of replacements.

Had Robert install my Tesla Wall Connector and he did a fantastic job. He installed it very clean and consulted me on everything he was going to do. I also needed this to be done within 2 days of calling around to find an electrician and he was readily available. I highly recommend him for your electrical needs.

After our initial experience with Electric Chen (which was outstanding), we contacted Robert to install a 240v EV outlet in our garage. Robert had previously installed a 240 volt outlet for us and we had such a great experience that we decided to reach out to him again to install 3 outdoor flood/ring lights. He was quick to respond with a very competitive quote. Robert is professional, very pleasant and knowledgeable. We will use his services again as needed.
Robert responded to my online request within 10 minutes on a Sunday - great.
He showed up on time - great.
Now the not so good. In my original Yelp request, I explained the problem in detail (a wiring fault in an existing house circuit). Then I explained it again on the phone.
After an hour of troubleshooting the electrical problem, he concluded the problem is exactly what I had called him about. He then told me I have to pay for the consultation and an extra hour on top, even though he was only at my house for 1 hour 15 minutes.
I asked Robert if he can find and fix the problem, he said he cannot and that it requires a builder and he cannot do it. He showed no interest in suggesting any alternatives.
I spent almost $200 for him to tell me he can't fix the problem. :-/

Wow Robert was fast, honest, knowledgeable, and competitive price! He was fast and prepared. I hate it when installers don't have what they need and have to run to stores for supplies. He had everything in his van and was a professional. He installed my EV charger after I got a quote saying I needed to replace my entire electrical panel. We were left scrambling when Tesla notified us of our vehicle delivery much sooner than we anticipated. With the vehicle arriving in days, I needed to get a contractor to put in the Tesla wall charger ASAP. After searching the Tesla site and Yelp I ended up talking to 6-7 contractors. I was able to schedule a free estimate with both Robert and another contractor for today. Robert with Electric Chen was my 2nd estimate today so I was able to compare him to the previous contractor.
I explained what I wanted to do with the install, which was what I told the previous contractor, and Robert asked if I would like his opinion. His recommendation totally made sense, and his solution saved me a significant amount of money. Since I had the charger already with me he offered to do the installation on-the-spot. Since his reviews on Yelp were very good and I had a good feeling about him I agreed to have him start the work immediately. 1.5 hours later the job was completed! So happy to have found him. I actually may have him comeback another time for some interior ceiling fans and exterior fixture installations!
He actually had just finished another Tesla Wall Charger installation before me, and now was off to do another one! He apparently said that its most of his work recently!

I created a project RFQ for my small electrical project at home for a wired Google security with flood light that Google subcontractors unable to do, wall sconces and side door motion spot light. We needed a electric vehicle charger for our new car and had no idea where to start. The yelp reviews led me Mr. Chen. He is everything plus more than what has been written on yelp. I called and the phone was answered immediately and then we communicated by text and photos. I sent him the pic of the electrical panel and then he sent me pics of different ev chargers, he had installed. Long story short, I thought the 220 electric dryer socket would work and sent a picture and of course it didn't work. He was extremely patient with me and contacted us the next day and offered to take a look and give a quote . His quote was more than fair and I asked him to schedule us in. He was able to fit us in immediately. . We were lucky he had room in his schedule and about 2 hours later it was taken care of with our mobil Tesla charger. A new wall socket that gave us a level 2 charge. Very knowledgeable, honest, hardworking.
I thought I was finished with my review and received a text this morning. The installation required a hole to pull through wires and Robert was not satisfied with the finish work. He returned at no cost and cleaned up the installation where the wires came out of the panel to the charger. It was a bit ragged, but I didn't mind as the charger works.

Robert installed our EV charger in a professional fashion. He's very responsive via text and the consultation was done by sending photos of the existing panel. He explained the process clearly and provided all the hardware needed for the install (expect for the charger). After installing we tested the charger to make sure it worked properly and he cleaned up the area afterwards. Very happy with the service and will call him again for future electrical work around the house.
I started project in yelp, and Mr. Chen reached out to very soon. And we made appointment on next day morning with a small window(9 to 9:30). He showed up on time at 9. After a quick estimation, he gave me very clear price and technical advices. He made me very confidence , plus a very reasonable price. I made decision to move forward.

Robert helped install my Tesla wall connector today. He gave me a detailed walk through before doing the installation so I could understand what's going on. He also gave me some good advice on which circuit breaker to use(I chose the 50A circuit breaker because the max for my home is 125A). He finished the job fast and neat. Robert came over to give me an estimate for installation Tesla wall connector on same day when I posted my project on Yelp. After giving estimate, I checked when he can start it? It was already evening around 6:00 so I just checked if he can do this installation right away, he willingly agreed and did a fantastic job within an 1.5 hour. Installation is neat and sturdy, my car could charged to 100% (from 60%) within 3 hours.
We called to troubleshoot the 2 broken outlets(one has been broken for years, and another one just got broken recently) in the kitchen that even resetting GFIC and breakers won't fix them. Robert came and solved it by fixing both of them. He is very knowledgeable, professional, efficient and reasonable priced. He has masks on all the time and wear shoe covers in our home which we really appreciate.
Besides fixing the broken outlets, he also fixed 3 light switches which weren't even mentioned when I called. I am so glad that he has all the replacement parts with him in his car.
He is our default electrician for any electrical work from now on. I highly recommend him if you need a good electrician.

Electric Chen was very quick to respond for a free quote. The price was very reasonable and much lower than other electricians. Very professional. Good, reliable work. Cleaned up area after he was done and provided recommendations for potential upgrades in the future. Will definitely use them again for future projects.

Our home just had solar. There was a breaker trip issue caused by the main panel which is quite antique. We had to replace it to fix the issue. We also wanted to install EV charger and an additional power outlet. So we reached out to Robert.
Our first meet went pretty well. He examined the issue, fixed it temporarily and offered us his honest suggestion. He recommended us to replace the panel no matter if we hire him or not. His personality gave us a natural trust. Nice, honest and humble.
I trust Robert's craftsmanship. The old panel had many issues. One of the issues is the spaghetti wiring. With the new panel, it's well combed. Every line is nicely rearranged. I'm very happy about that.
In terms of price, Robert is the only electrician I reached out so I don't have any comparison. Having said that, I feel the price is reasonable. I did talk with my friends who had worked with other electrician before. I was told the price was good.

Robert and team went above and beyond to get the job done right. They provided very detailed quotes which give client very clear idea of what's involved. Pricing was fair and quality was one of the best. I am glad I went with Robert after receiving a few quotes.
Robert holds high standard for his work, and tries his best to give the best solution. He does not cut corner and delivers what's promised.
The whole process was quite stress free from start to finish. There were a few old wiring issue and space constraints at the attic, but Robert was able to work out all items with clever solutions and hard work. The job was done in four days which included several recessed lightings, ceiling fan and ventilation fans.

Robert is very responsive and reliable. We asked for someone who can install an EV charger for us and he responded right away and came on a Sunday. He install the EV outlet very well and explained to me what each step is for. He even ran to Home Depot for an extra grounding bar when he think that our panel box needs one. I cannot speak highly enough of Robert Chen He arrived on time and went over what we wanted to be done. We wanted him to install a ring flood light. We had no power source where we wanted it installed so he had to get a power source for the flood light. For EV-proofing my home, I wanted a NEMA 14-50 outlet and while I didn't shop around for the best prices, Robert's seemed reasonable (and it is). What really sold me was his responsiveness and attentiveness to my needs. I also liked the fact that he worked for himself and not a big competitor. He made himself available to me if anything were to go wrong and was available within two business days. Work took less than two hours with barely a blip of power.

Thanks to Robert Chen and his professional team. They were on time , on budget and got the work done to my satisfaction.
From the quote to completion, my project for 34 recessed lights was done in 4 days.
The most time was for me compare quotes and once I said yes to Robert. He came in the very next day at 8:00 a.m. with his team of 3 and was out the door by 4:00 p.m.

Needed a Nema 14-50 plug installed to charge EV. Robert came by for a free quote, very reasonable and was able to finish the job in 2 hours the same day! Hired him on the spot to install a power outlet for a Toto Washlet the next day. Very professional, punctual and great communication. Definitely recommend.
Sometimes the right person comes along at just the right time. That was precisely the case with Robert Chen, owner of Electric Chen. I had a sudden power outage that took out two bedrooms and the only bathroom's GFCI. Another company started the repair job but abandoned it halfway.
I first talked to Robert at 11:30am on a Wednesday and he arrived at my place at 5:15pm after driving in heavy traffic back from the South Bay. By 7:15pm when he finished up, Robert had replaced 3 electrical outlets, pulled out 2 or 3 other electrical outlets to inspect them, opened and completely tested the subpanel, and nailed the problem electrical outlet. Robert had to diagnose the crazy wiring scheme, a single line that spans two bedrooms and the bathroom in between. When he pulled the problem outlet out it was sizzling and slightly smoking so I was enormously relieved that he identified and fixed a very dangerous problem so incredibly efficiently.
Robert was completely professional and totally on top of things from his knowledge as a licensed electrical contractor to dealing with me, his customer.
I plan to update the ancient subpanel fairly soon and will absolutely call Robert.

Decided to reach out to Robert who is also the owner. Quick response and quote provided was reasonable compared to other quotes received from local electricians. I needed to get a NEMA 14-50 installed. Came earlier than expected and was able to complete in about 1.5hr. Job was done clean and no trash left behind. We really appreciate Robert's great work solving our chronic GFCI outlet issue on the spot! We had one of GFCI outlets kept tripping and shut off all the downstream outlets for months. Two electricians prior to him were not able to identify the root cause. Robert thoroughly checked the upstreaming and downstream circuitry. He was able to pinpoint a faulty outlet with loose connection causing the constant shortage and fix it right away. It was straightforward to communicate with Robert. His schedule is busy but flexible. The cost was quite reasonable. Robert will be our future go-to person for all electrical works.
We just got an EV, and did not have a level 2 charging point at home. Robert responded to our request, and was very prompt to come and take a look at what we had going at our home. Electric Chen was very knowledgeable, explained all the options, and made recommendations along with pros and cons of all options. Made it very transparent and easy for us to make a decision. Once we made the decision, he even offered to come in the very next day, even though it was a Sunday, to complete the job.
They we very professional, did a great job, and even cleaned up very well. I would definitely recommend Electric Chen!!

I contacted Robert for installing Recessed lighting throughout our home, and had a very smooth experience working with him. He scheduled a time slot to visit our home and provided a free quote, which is much more reasonable than the other quotes I have received from other electricians. He was punctual and very quick to respond. He answered all my phone calls even during weekends and late evenings. Installing recessed lighting was very tricky in our home with very small attic space. But, Robert never complained about it, and finished the job, installing 20 lights in a single day, without opening up any interior dry walls. I highly recommend Robert for his efficiency and straight forwardness and is very easy to work with.

I needed to install a NEMA 14-50 receptacle for my Juicebox 40 EVSE. I requested a quote from a number of different electricians and ultimately decided to hire Robert because he was 1) willing to come in-person to provide a free estimated quote, 2) very communicative, transparent, honest, nice, and 3) very reasonably priced. He was on time as scheduled per the appointment and I am very pleased with the outcome and quality of his work. He did an excellent job of routing the conduit in a very clean fashion and met all of my requirements for the job. I will definitely be hiring Robert for all my other electrical work and highly recommend to anybody else looking for an electrician.

I bought a Chargepoint Home Flex EV charger. After doing research on how to install it, as an electrical engineer, I realized that this is not a straight forward job without the right tools and professional experience. Then I decided to get help from electrician. Electric Chen was not on the top of the searching result on Yelp or Google search but with limited information and reviews from the other customers (most of the review are written in 2022), I thought there was a good chance that Electric Chen should provide quality service as competitors and with reasonable price. Then I contacted him and he asked me a few questions such as where the main/sub panel located and where the EV charger I would like to install. I also sent photos since that can provide more visible information than verbal expression. He respected my preference and explained to me the pros and cons. Eventually, I decided to install the NEMA 14-50 outlet/plug for my EV charger instead of hardwired since that provides more flexibility in case of the charger hardware has issues and need to be replaced in future. Fortunately, he was able to get the work done on the same day night. Robert also brought all the necessary tools and hardwares with him in a single trip. I was really surprised that he can finish the work in such high efficiency without compromise of the quality. Nice job, Robert! Really appreciate it! I will definitely recommend Electric Chen to anyone who I know.

Robert is a great electrician. He not only repair my circuit panel today and also did a thorough inspections on all the outlets on the wall. Excellent work and super friendly.
Robert was able to help replace our exhaust fan in the bathroom. He is simply awesome, very honest and hardworking. Our home had an old exhaust fan which was not working and many electricians did not even attempt to replace. Robert took the time to make that happen. Does a very clean job. He would be the person to go to, for me for my future electrical needs. Also his charges are very fair. Thanks Robert.
If I have problems again, this is my go to guy. He came, quickly and at the time he said he would. He worked diligently on a gnarly problem with old wiring, never gave up and explained the problems clearly to me. He is professional in all the ways you would want and expect. He knows electricity. Robert replaced a faulty GFCI outlet as I had requested but noticed there were power loss in other outlets. He took the time to troubleshoot the source. Per process of elimination, he was able to correct the problem. He's very professional and the cost of service was reasonable. As a result, I allowed him to replace 5 other outdated outlets.
