JMW Plumbing Plumbing Service
Due to the hurricane Ida my basement flooded and my water heater and gas furnace stopped working. I couldn't find any available plumber to help me until I found Wanda. She made sure I got a water heater immediately. The water heater came and her guy came right after. He took care of everything. He was professional and great. He replaced the water heater and fixed the gas furnace. I'm so thankful everything is working again. Wanda to the rescue! Will use this company  again. Highly recommend!

They did the plumbing under our kitchen sink, replaced the spigot and put in all new plumbing for the entire house. His team are courteous and professional. Just good business people all around and I highly recommend their services.

Always prompt, very good plumber, has been able to solve almost every issue we've called about. Where he couldn't  (we thought it was the pipes but it was the pump in the dishwasher)  he didn't charge us. Nice crew of guys working for him too.
He's located on the UES so can get here really fast in emergencies.

24/7 Manhattan Plumbing Plumbing Service
24/7 Plumbing came to my workplace (a large UWS synagogue), on short notice when we were experiencing a very unpleasant issue with the sewer line backing up into our basement.

Their techs were courteous, neat, and efficient. They spent almost 3 hours clearing the main drain/sewer line, resolving the issue. They then checked that water was flowing through the drain line from the top to the bottom of the building. Great work.

Safehaven Home Services Plumbing Service
Extremely polite and helpful! Although They haven't done any work for me I can confidently recommend them. I called to ask about having a camera inspection done of a waste water line in my home. I was told that, due to local law, they were not allowed to work in my area (Islip). After a short but nice conversation I was given the number of a business they have recommended in the past that could help me and they did.
Better than any big plumbing empire. Go with the local guys.

Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup Plumbing Service
I have just had Roto-Rooter out to resolve a major sewer issue at my home.  I had an overflow into my finished basement, which caused significant damage. I discovered it on a Sunday evening, and called Roto Rooter right away.
My service call time was 11 pm-1 am, and the first tech Kevin showed up in the time frame given.  He was friendly, cheerful and informative.  He tried many things, but was unable to find a resolution that night, so he made arrangements for someone to be at my home first thing in the morning. It was determined that most of my indoor pipes needed replacement.
The restoration team was great (Fred, tech #423, was great! The work was extensive, and there were 3 separate major jobs that needed to be completed, so it was extremely upsetting, but the team that did the work made it seem more manageable.  Carlos (tech #429), Fred (tech # 423) and Nick (tech #1619), all were pleasant, informative, and helpful.  They were efficient, and took great care to make sure that they protected my home as well as was possible, and they did precise, neat work.  I would much rather that this work was not in MY basement, obviously, but they each minimized the damage. I was very impressed with all of their work.
The each showed a lot of consideration, and they each explained everything in detail.  None of them seemed to mind when I periodically came in to look at their work, and were happy to explain exactly what they were doing.
I would highly recommend this team at Roto Rooter-they are a credit to your business!

What can i say?  all the worst things you fear when hiring a technician.  I work for a construction management company...something i didn't reveal to these guys when i had them come out to diagnose a heating unit that wasn't working.  I work with contractors all day, and i know the games in and out.  and i know that sometimes you just can't do much about it if you don't know someone you can trust.  i have a technician that usually fixes units in my neighborhood that is licensed and highly recommended, but they weren't available the week i needed them.  so i tried these guys out.

so, to keep things simple.  these guys were very quick to come out and diagnose the unit, and collect their fee for the effort.  I work with engineers also and already had an idea of what was wrong with the unit, which was simple, not costly and should have been easily fixed in an afternoon.  The technician seemed to not even be familiar with heating units like mine, proceeded to troubleshoot in an obviously incorrect order.  He left with a diagnosis to replace one of the more costlier, yet technically easy to replace, parts of the unit.  i let it slide.   but then he proceeds to be unable to find the part to my unit ....for three days..until the weekend...in the winter...but of course they'll be able to come out during the weekend for an extra overtime cost.  i let it slide.  not finding a part could be technically true if he were a time traveler from a year before the internet and could only get replacement parts from the one or two suppliers you have in nyc.  i let it slide.  he proceeds to offer to remachine the missing part, a process that would add a couple of more days to do, and get an estimate approaching 2 grand.

at this point, you just have to cut your losses with the hundred dollars you lost getting a diagnosis from someone that obviously isn't interested in fixing your unit.

finally got in touch with the licensed technician i usually get to repair my unit.  fixed in one day for less than 300.  unit continues to work without incident.  make what you will of the facts.  maybe these guys are just better with plumbing instead of hvac?  i don't know  definitely never calling again.

They used to be better 10 years ago. Last 3 times I've used them, had to have them back 2-3 times and still have issues not resolved. Not using them any longer.

Watson's Plumbing Heating & Building Services Plumbing Service
NEVER hire Watson's. Their work caused a gas shutdown and a DOB violation they've refused to fix. We now face a fine of thousands of dollars from the city. We hired them for simple work in our new coop. We chose them due to good reviews and the fact that they were licensed master plumbers. To resolve the DOB violation, Watson's must provide several permits. They have refused to do so for over a month and rarely take our calls or respond to emails or texts. On top of that, the plumbers who came out were careless and messy. In hooking up our washing machine, they damaged our new kitchen cabinets (we did receive a small refund for this) and left a huge mess in our kitchen. The bigger problem is that they never pulled the necessary permits to deal with our gas line. This has resulted in months of headaches and phone calls met simply with ineptitude, inaccessibility and ignorance. Not to mention the month without a stove, or the stress over helping our management company try to nail down anyone at Watson's to get the necessary documents for our DOB violation. Please, chose a different plumber!!

East Village Plumbers Plumbing Service
The customer service is horrible.  Incredibly overpriced ($275 to snake a toilet bowl) for a service that did not fix the problem.  The plumber claimed to have snaked 10 feet and later admitted it was at least 2 feet less than that.  Toilet broke again 2 days later.  Plumber was supposed to come back on a Friday, but had a family emergency.  Didn't bother calling to let me know that he would not be showing up.  Showed up the next morning 45 minutes late.  Blamed me for flushing things down the toilet despite the fact that I purchased the toilet paper he recommended and have flushed minimal amounts.  Wanted to charge another $175 to rebuild the toilet ($20 for parts).  Incredibly unprofessional and refused to spend more than 30 seconds looking at the toilet and diagnosing the actual problem.  Will NEVER call this place again.
