Searched online for main line water service. Found Scott's company. Best choice made! Needed a sprinkler shut off cap in front of building according to FDNY code. Scott's guy came, broke up the sidewalk, and was done within a couple of hours. Patched up the sidewalk, and cap was perfectly installed. No more FDNY violation!
Kudos to Scott and crew. Will use again and recommend.

Akeim is professional, knowledgeable and efficient.  When the kitchen faucet in my tenant apartment broke, from the pictures of the damage he was able to assess quickly that I needed to do a replacement instead of a repair and advised objectively on the type of faucet I should get.  Once obtained, he installed it quickly for a reasonable price.  I was very pleased with his work and look forward to working with him on future projects.

These guys are absolutely amazing.  Hands down the best experience I have ever had with any kind of contractor, anywhere, and I've used lots of them over the years.  The service and professionalism and communication and attention they provide are the kind you'd expect from the guy you know in a small town; I was so pleasantly surprised (shocked, actually) to find someone like this in Manhattan.  If you ever need plumbing work done, do yourself a favor and call these guys!  Seriously!

We found out that our shower was apparently leaking and causing some issues in the unit below us, so we needed a fix.  Since we hated our bathroom, we decided to gut the thing and start anew rather than trying to patch things up.  We spoke to an unbelievable number of contractors.  Many would make appointments to evaluate and give an estimate and never show up.  Those that did show up would give astronomical quotes.  I mean, this is New York, but come on, renovating a bathroom shouldn't eat up 25% of my take-home salary.

We saw an ad on TV for a site called HomeAdvisor, and Star Cities was one of the places they referred us to.  We emailed Star Cities and got a very prompt reply.  They set up an appointment and kept it.  They showed up on time (a few minutes early, actually) and took the time to explain what needed to be done clearly, assuring us that it was not as bad of a job as we thought.  We loved Robert, and waited for their quote.  The quote came quite quickly -- much more quickly than we expected -- and we were pleasantly surprised at how reasonable it was.  Robert was the best plumber we'd met, and gave us a good and fair price.  Needless to say, we booked him to do the work.

They started the work just when they said they would (a few minutes early, actually).  Over the course of a couple of weeks (we did this around Thanksgiving), they completely changed our bathroom.  They tore out the tub, the walls around the tub, the toilet, and the floor, and installed a new tub (which was very hard to do I'm sure because we have a very weird and VERY tight space), a new shower body, new floors, painted the walls, installed a new toilet, and everything.  They even installed a new shower door.  The shower door wasn't part of the work order, but when we found one we liked, be bought it and brought it to the apartment.  We asked them to install it and told them we'd pay for the installation; they installed it and didn't charge us.  It was not an easy door to install (a weird Kohler barn door thing).

We were actually so impressed with the work they were doing, we decided to ask them to demolish an old closet and build a new one, as well as hang crown moulding around our entire apartment.  They gave us a good quote and worked with our budget.  The closet and the crown moulding are absolutely gorgeous.  We'd thought about using the handyman at the hardware store next door for that work, but he never gave us a quote, despite our constant reminders.  Robert, however, gave us a quote quickly, and did an amazing, amazing job.  I'm so glad we didn't go with someone else on the closet, because they gave us exactly what we wanted.  It looks so much better than we imagined.

After they finished the bathroom, we noticed a problem with the hot water (not enough water pressure).  I sent Robert a very panicked text late at night.  He promptly replied, showed up the next day, and fixed the issue.  Apparently some detritus got in a pipe.  I was very pleased with his follow-through.  Even though the job was done and he'd been paid, he made sure to promptly address the issue.

When it came time to get the final invoice there were no surprises.  The deal was we pay a 75% deposit.  The balance of the invoice was the other 25%.  No sneaking things in, no saying things got complicated, no nothing.  Straight up what we expected: we owed the last 25% that we didn't put down in the deposit.  Star Cities is honest, does quality work, and does the work for what they say they will (and on time).

These guys were such a pleasure to work with.  I hope I don't have any more plumbing issues that need fixing, but if I do, I know where I'll go.  If you need plumbing work done, call them!  You'll be thankful you did.

Eddie has and will remain my buildings plumber of choice. Nice guy, transparent and more importantly communicative. Last job was running late due to an issue with another customers job but called to update me on his time. Things happen, and making sure he didn't leave me hanging was the most important thing. Mike saved us from a potential disaster! We had a leaking water heater, and no prior experience with anything of this magnitude since we bought an older home. Not knowing who to call and being skeptical of someone taking advantage, we decided to call Mike at Austin Plumbing and Heating. He showed up ready to work right away. Our water heater starting leaking in our basement and needed to be replaced.  Being fairly new homeowners this was definitely another financial stress that we were not excited about.  However, that stress began to disappear when we found Peter! He came to our rescue and made the whole process as quick and painless as possible.  He responded right away to our Yelp request and gave us an extremely fair price that worked with our budget. His kindness and professionalism went above and beyond. He arrived at our house promptly and was able to fully replace our oil-fired water heater.  Many plumbers will not even work on oil-fired water heaters because they are less common.  This was not a challenge for Peter. He made us feel very confident in his expertise.  We even had additional issues that arose due to how old our pipes were and he was able to fix those quickly too. He cleaned up very well and left the entire area extremely neat when he was done. We have definitely found our new plumber! I will recommend him to my friends and family. It is so hard to find people you can trust in this industry which is why we are thrilled to have found him. Don't hesitate and contact him now. You will not be disappointed!

Andre came in with the expertise which I have never seen before. He was knowledgeable of the existing setup we have. He knew the issue while right away which was frozen pipes. Yup frozen pipes in the winter. During the process he showed us cleary, the faulty areas in our furnace and plumbing system. Replacing the parts needed while defrosting our system; he simplified and explained everything  to us while swiftly working efficiently. Would totally recommend this company and Andre. A+

I have relied on Colin's plumbing skills for the last two years.  He is an excellent plumber, reasonably priced, and cleans up after each project.  He communicated how long it will take and how much it will likely cost.  He is a friendly Irish-American you can count on.

My experience with Blaustein was the complete opposite of Phineas' (as has been the experience of two co-ops who've used Blaustein for years and recommended them).  B. responded immediately to my call and located a hard-to-reach leaking drainpipe that two previous plumbers had been unable to find.  Junior, the head doctor, had to cut away a lot of wood shims under the tub to see the culprit, then removed and replaced it in only two hours' work.  Decades of experience, total professionals, reasonable prices, and it's even a union shop, we understand.

Samir was very communicative, quick response time and provided the required insurance paperwork etc. He did the job as promised at the agreed price. It was a scraping, plastering, priming, painting job. Very satisfied with it. I'd use him again for this type of work or for plumbing etc.

I've worked with Friedman Irwin & Son twice already and both times, they spoke to me on the phone and went through my issues with me in a detailed manner.  

I called Jay today with an issue at 6:30PM and he could tell I needed something done ASAP.   When all other plumbers are probably done for the day, he came out, fixed it and charged me a completely reasonable price.  

I'm new to the neighborhood and it's great to have someone I trust from here on out.  I 100% recommend them.

They provide exceptional and quick Backflow testing at a competitive price.  Tom went above and beyond to resolve additional issues arose after the testing. He is courteous and walked me through step by step to get the work done. Highly recommended to anyone who needs Backflow testing!

One afternoon I was walking by and realize they sell Girl Scout cookies. Well, I don't need a single plumbing supply but  I was happy to find cookies. 10 stars! The best hands down! We called last night, and the phone was very nicely answered by a real person. Enrique called right back and had us send him pictures. Gave us two possibilities (told us the price for each) and said he would be at our house at 8 am. He came and brought a replacement pump for the grinder. ( Just in case-no waiting around for parts thank you!) Turns out the motor was dead and needed to be replaced. He showed us and explained what the issue was-and let me tell you these guys should be paid double for what they have to stick their gloved hands in!-God bless them!
Anyway the whole thing took about 40 minutes. They were friendly, neat, professional, knowledgeable and cheerful! And they know exactly what they are doing. Once they were done Enrique showed us that the new grinder motor was working properly. We paid the price quoted and it was exactly what he said it would be. They are just the best and I hope we never need them again but if we ever need a plumber Rasco and Enrique is who we will call. Thank you guys for saving our Christmas!

I wish I could give zero stars! This is hands down the worse service I have ever dealt with. Extremely unprofessional, Eric showed up with barely any tools and made the issue worse than it was. He was unable to reach the pipe so took a hammer and started banging the pipes until something finally broke. Had to come back numerous times since the problem was never really fixed. Finally had to call another company, who came and fixed the problem immediately and we have never had another issue since! Not only did Cheap Johns not fix the issue, but we had to deal with someone who was extremely obnoxious over 6 times!! Please save yourself a lot of time, energy, and money and use any other service!

Really rude and unhelpful. Just needed one part and they were going to charge extra bs fees for handling. Do yourself a favor and buy exactly what you need online
