I own a 110 year-old house in Brooklyn. I have lived here for 33 years.
Our clay sewer pipes are as old as the house and we were tired of late night sewer clog emergencies. So, after 33 years of procrastination, we decided to do the big-dig and have our main sewer line replaced.
In Brooklyn, I found two companies that specialize in Sewer Main replacement I selected Main Man Water Works because they had a higher yelp rating than the other company and my next door neighbor had good results when they used Main Man Water Works to replace their sewer main. We called Scott, Main Man's master plumber, scheduled an estimate the same week, and started the work by the following week.
The sewer main replacement took two days, from start to finish. They were able to tunnel under our front steps and front porch so both survived the ordeal undamaged. (Hip, hip hurray!!) The new sewer line was installed and working on the first day. On the second day, the job was finished, including hooking up an active storm drain into the sewer line (somehow skipped on the first day), replacing the cement walkway, and replacing a small section of cement floor that had to be removed in the basement near the pipe traps.
For the main job, the installation of the sewer-main, they know their stuff inside-and-out, and that part was worry-free. The second day was also ok, but we had to ask them correct a few of the finishing details.
For clarity, here are the finishing details we had ask them to correct. We had to ask them to spend more time tamping (packing down) the filled soil. Extra tamping takes more time & delays pouring the cement walkway, but reduces the risk of a sinking, sagging walkway in a few years. When pouring the cement, they initially left out the expansion joints and we had to ask them to add expansion joints (heavy felt strips) in the cement in order to reduce risk of future cracking. Finally, when restoring the pit for the sewer trap, they were initially going to make the pit twice as large. At our request, they moved the wood backer-boards before pouring the cement and restored the pit to approximately the original size.
In summary, their work is very good, but be prepared to oversee and correct some of the finishing details near the end of the job.

Our toilet had a stoppage in the middle of the night. After consulting with multiple plumbers, Akeim of Sturks Sewer Works was able to clear the blockage and get the toilet back into functional order at a very reasonable rate. Thank you so much Akeim!

Reliable, efficient and reasonable. Thanks to recommendations on Yelp, I called Star Cities Plumbing when I had a problem with the diverter on our shower. Robert arrived within a week to provide a free quote (some companies charge you just to provide a quote!!!!!!) and was able to return in 2 days to carry out the job. Could not be easier.

Eddie and his team were excellent: prompt, professional, and knowledgeable!
Despite it being New Year's Day when I contacted Eddie, he responded in less than an hour and came out the next day to diagnose our problem (dead water heater). Since we opted to use him for the repair, Eddie did not charge us for the diagnostic fee. He is knowledgeable about the different water heater brands, and I feel confident with the product he recommended and installed.
For both the diagnostic visit and the repair, Eddie kept me updated via text on his estimated arrival time and was always punctual. The team installed the new water heater very quickly. The price was quoted up front, and there were no surprises when the work was completed.
In terms of COVID precautions - the team wore masks and gloves while they were in my apartment.

I have been doing business with Austin Plumbing and Heating for nearly a decade.
I've had Michael work on several of my buildings. The scope of the work has ranged from large boilers, sewer site lines, lift stations and gas leaks.
I have been satisfied every time I've used Austin Plumbing and Heating. They have always completed work on time and within budget. The work they have done has always been up to code and passed inspection. I highly recommend them!

Looking for a great plumber? Afraid of calling plumbers because they're too expensive and unreliable? Call James!
Called on a Wednesday afternoon, spoke with James. I wanted a new hot water heater put in.
They were free to install the VERY NEXT DAY!
Price was great, work was fast, installation took less than 2 hours.
They took the old heater and cleaned up, the job was done perfectly.
Don't worry, just call Platinum!

These guys are great. Had a major toilet issue that they dealt with immediately even though it turned into a lengthy nightmare. Super nice and helpful!

I have relied on Colin's plumbing skills for the last two years. He is an excellent plumber, reasonably priced, and cleans up after each project. He communicated how long it will take and how much it will likely cost. He is a friendly Irish-American you can count on.

We had an issue with a leak at our restaurant. No one was available. When we called and spoke to the owner, not only did he make sure to get someone out right away. He followed up after to make sure we were taken care of.
Extremely professional and I am happy to recommend to anyone looking for a good plumbing company.

Samir did an outstanding job painting my bathroom walls. Samir offered great value for his service and was responsive to all my questions. I was also impressed that Samir was able to relocate the towel rack and repair the wall as if the towel rack was never there. Overall I highly recommend!

I called after hours and left a voicemail giving details and asking for a call back (I didn't call the optional emergency number offered, since it wasn't an emergency). I got a call back early the next morning, as requested. They are located only a few blocks from me, and instead of making an appointment they were able to send a guy over within 10-15 mins, even though I was willing to arrange something for later (awesome), so I could still get to work that morning and not worry about coming home early. My issue was a very simple clogged toilet, he brought a snake, and he was in and out in 15 minutes since it was easy enough that I probably could have taken care of it myself but wanted to have called a plumber in order to demonstrate to my insurance that I was doing my due diligence. He made sure to double check that the flush was functioning before leaving and was super friendly and professional. On the phone, I was quoted $150-$175 depending on the difficulty of the job, and the guy who came diligently called after he was done to confirm pricing, including mentioning that it was very easy and not to enforce the upper end of their quote, which I appreciated. As quoted, cost was $150 (cash or check only, but tax excluded so ended up being $164), and he gave me a receipt without me asking for it which I appreciate when a business is cash only. I would have loved a slightly lower price considering how easy the job was and that I was flexible on timing, but these guys had the snake and did the job, and I did not, and we live in NYC where rent is definitely not free, especially for businesses. I felt as though this was in line with local pricing, but not a steal, which is totally fine. I think I could have found a (slightly) cheaper price for the job, but based on what I've read only by about $25 and it may have taken a few days, and I like hiring local because I want that kind of neighborhood. These guys did exactly what they said they would for exactly the price that they quoted me, which is all you can ask for. Can't offer info regarding more complicated work, but I got an excellent response time and good feeling from them and would definitely recommend them for a simple job, and would consider them for something more serious. Thanks guys!

Best service Ive ever had from a business.I had a problem with the DEP not accepting my backflow test results due to the initial test being filled out incorrectly by a Build it Back architect,Tom and his staff did all the legwork contacting all the parties involved and rectified the situation. They saved me a lot of money in fines,And also saved me from having to hire another architect. They asked for nothing in return, even though they spent alot of time and energy on my case.

Enrique really knows what he's doing. Very professional and straightforward! They were respectful of my home and did a wonderful job.

Had a great experience with them. Robert ran the show from the office and handled all of our requests, schedule changes and inquiries like a pro. All four plumbers that were sent to our home were professional, well-mannered and completed their work swiftly and effectively. Highly recommend this company!

This company is a disgrace and Eric is a shyster. When he calls his boss and you hear him say they are nice people or they are good people what can we do for them is code word for they are naive and we can hit them over the head. Enjoy the extra money you conned out of me. Wound up was my problem never got fixed and I had it done by another company for 6 times less than what they charged me. Wish I could take them to court.

The plumber I received was extremely and unreasonably rude. Thought I should write a review about it. Tells me that he knows what he is doing and he in fact, did not. I needed 1 part replaced but he acted like it was life or death. I wouldn't use their service ever if I were you.
