I've never seen a water heater in worse condition than mine!

I heard about Pelham through my friend as I am new to New York City.  Pelham delivered very reliable service in a timely manner.  Greg was great over the phone and very accommodating with my requests.  I will definitely use them again!! :)

Great family owned feel!

Great job replacing an old malfunctioning 'floodgate' that failed me the night of Hurricane Ida.  Excellent professional service and reasonably priced.

Dishonest and unprofessional company. Didn't keep appointment time and after 3rd call technician finally came. The guy spent 45 mins on our water heater and charged $400 for labor. When we asked what was the issue and why did it cost so much he couldn't give an answer, when we asked if any parts needed to be replaced he said no. We're definitely not working with this company again.

Instead, we'll work with other companies for our plumbing / water heater / boiler / HVAC needs. 2 companies we had great experiences with are: Babuska Plumbing Heating & Air Conditioning company in Pelham (which also isn't cheap, but charges half of what these guys charge and excellent job each time), and IVOR Heating & Air Conditioning company.

I gave them 2 stars instead of 1 b/c they did water heater installation 3 years ago without problems.

I also had a bad experience and found the company to be dishonest and unprofessional. I hired them to change the cartridge for our bathtub faucet and also a toilet leak. At the time, I was told of the hourly charge of $175 and a minimum charge of $300 and I agreed to it.
The plumber J came and he fixed both problems in less than one hour.  He did not bring any tools so we had to borrow some from the super.  In replacing the cartridge of the bathtub plate, he had to break the tiles, the broken pieces dropped to the tub and caused numerous scratches because he failed to use any protection materials. He then started pulling the metal handle. He used so much force that the metal handle dropped to the tub floor and caused dents on the tub.

We hired a Reglazing guy costing $1000 to do the dent repair and Reglazing. He did a good job but we can still feel some dents.

Even though the plumber spent less than one hour, we got charged for three hours of labor. When I asked for the explanation, I was told that the plumber had to travel from Bronx to Manhattan and he had to stop by a supply store to get parts, he also had to wait in line to pay. That's why they charged two hours for travel and shopping.

The travel time/shopping time charge was not disclosed to me when I called. The final bill came to a whopping $757.

When I informed the company of the plumber damage of the tub, they said that they were going to come to assess the damage but no one ever came.  I would warn people to steer clear of this company.

Pelham came recommended, and the first house call went fine (two radiator vents were installed, and $400+ was the charge); the technician   explained things well and patiently. Two days later one of the radiators stopped working. (I knew from asking around that on occasion a vent just doesn't work and needs replacing). They sent someone the day after I called (all good). But the new person refused to try a new vent and got unpleasant (he had several bogus reasons why the radiator was fine and it was the fault of my apartment, e.g. drafts from the window). When I called the main office, they were unpleasant as well. Thankfully I was able to get a new vent put in by someone else, and all was fine. The two stars are for the first technician.

They did an amazing job both times I called them. I was left stranded with some other plumbers and I had no choice but to call them and I wish I had known about them before. I strongly recommend using them because they will work to earn your business which is the whole point of getting someone to do a job for you. The one guy was very good, I think his name was Mario B. Also Bob and Greg were nice too.

When there is a problem in your bathroom or kitchen, it's easy to feel like a victim. You know nothing about plumbing and you have to go by what they tell you. (Can't begin to imagine what it's like dealing with a car.) I have used Pelham Plumbing twice and am very, very pleased. The first call was to change a faucet. The second was to fix a wobbly toilet and fix the shower faucet. Ask for Junior to fix your problem. Seriously, when you call to make an appointment ask if you can get Junior. He is efficient, friendly and adorable. I get same day service and believe their work to be very reliable.

I spoke to Greg today, and arranged a service call. They were a little back-logged, that is why I took away one star. Their pricing seems competitive. I will post an update once the job is completed.

I ended up calling another vendor, so my experience was limited.

What can i say?  all the worst things you fear when hiring a technician.  I work for a construction management company...something i didn't reveal to these guys when i had them come out to diagnose a heating unit that wasn't working.  I work with contractors all day, and i know the games in and out.  and i know that sometimes you just can't do much about it if you don't know someone you can trust.  i have a technician that usually fixes units in my neighborhood that is licensed and highly recommended, but they weren't available the week i needed them.  so i tried these guys out.

so, to keep things simple.  these guys were very quick to come out and diagnose the unit, and collect their fee for the effort.  I work with engineers also and already had an idea of what was wrong with the unit, which was simple, not costly and should have been easily fixed in an afternoon.  The technician seemed to not even be familiar with heating units like mine, proceeded to troubleshoot in an obviously incorrect order.  He left with a diagnosis to replace one of the more costlier, yet technically easy to replace, parts of the unit.  i let it slide.   but then he proceeds to be unable to find the part to my unit ....for three days..until the weekend...in the winter...but of course they'll be able to come out during the weekend for an extra overtime cost.  i let it slide.  not finding a part could be technically true if he were a time traveler from a year before the internet and could only get replacement parts from the one or two suppliers you have in nyc.  i let it slide.  he proceeds to offer to remachine the missing part, a process that would add a couple of more days to do, and get an estimate approaching 2 grand.

at this point, you just have to cut your losses with the hundred dollars you lost getting a diagnosis from someone that obviously isn't interested in fixing your unit.

finally got in touch with the licensed technician i usually get to repair my unit.  fixed in one day for less than 300.  unit continues to work without incident.  make what you will of the facts.  maybe these guys are just better with plumbing instead of hvac?  i don't know  definitely never calling again.

i had service with this company and seriously i almost got robbed very badly from these guys.ill tell you what happened , my tenant called coned because there were no fume on the stove so he couldnt cook  coned came in and without any investigation they shut the main power off, i have to get a plumber and i called this people to find out where is the leak that coned was saying . this company knowing that came in with a free estimate they said they have to do  a gas test and  it will  cost me 800 dollars and then they will tell me where the gas leak is  coming  from. at that moment i did not know that the stove was the problem .i found out at the end when i fix the stove for 85 bucks it was a piece that was not working..well these guys did the test and told me that there is a gas leaking somewhere in the house and to fix the problem they have to change the whole pipes from the entire house a 8000 dollars job ..i was there all the time and i am on disability and while they were doing the test i questioned  them and i guess one of the plumbers not the boss one of the employers felt sorry for what i was going to face that decided to do it again the test and yes the gauge need it to tied really good . the first time they did i showed some leak but it was not from the pipes it was from the tester when he tied the tester good . it did not show any loose gas from the tester. what a guys  he said the company was going to ripped me off but they were not going to do at  this time with me and he said dont mentioned nothing to the company because he is going to get fired . i said thank you man. i felt very scary dealing with this people this company and it is a true story i dont know if the guy still working for this company but watch out i would never recomend this company because of my personal experience. i was gonna ended up paying 8000 dollars when it only cost me to fix the problem 85 dollars of course i paid the 800 dollars nothing more to this people ..
