Stefan did outstanding quality work installing an exterior 240V outlet for an EV charger, he explained everything very clearly, and cleaned up after he finished.  His fee for the work was extremely competitive and overall just an outstanding experience. I would highly recommend AC/DC and look forward to any future work with Stefan.

I hired Sims and Sons to repair electrical issues in the common area of our building. Other electricians either couldn't identify the cause of our electrical problem or wouldn't come out in-person to assess the situation. Darrell Sims visited our building and walked me through the potential causes before submitting an estimate. Darrell was also really responsive to the various demands of our condo board. The electrician, Enis, was really professional and informative before, during and after the work was completed. After going nearly a year with intermittent hallway lighting, I appreciate that Sims and Sons was able to come to our rescue.

Super nice and professional. I live an an older condo building, and my unit had an old fuse panel (with actual fuses). Marcus was very prompt on all his visits, and made sure I understood exactly what they were going to be doing. They never once lost patience with all the hoops I had to jump through with my condo management office. The work was competed on time, and they respected the construction time in my building. The workers were very polite, and all of the work looks amazing. I highly recommend

I can not say enough in praise! Ted and his son came on time and installed 4 fixtures and 3 dimers for me. He even redid a fixture I had tried to install - poorly. They cleaned up and took everything away...old fixtures, packing materials  - everything, you could not tell they had been there.  I am calling them back before the painters come and have them go to work on replacing all the switches and outlets! Call Ted NOW!

I contacted them with some pictures for a quote on some minor work. I got a prompt reply telling me that no significant work was needed! Thus while I did not end up hiring them, I am extremely satisfied with their service. I definitely plan on getting quotes from them in the future!

First of all, I rarely write reviews but I was so impressed I felt the need to write this one.  I needed a light switch replaced in my kitchen.  Chris responded quickly with a very fair estimate yesterday and was able to schedule an appointment for today.  Chris is professional, courteous, efficient and very reasonable with his charges.  I have already discussed having him replace some light fixtures in my house.  I highly recommend ALC Electric!

We had issues with an outdoor outlet nuisance tripping during heavy rain, even after having a new cover installed.  Unfortunately this outlet shared a circuit with our bedroom and office outlets, so the tripping caused heavy disruption.   It was particularly bad very early one morning after a stormy night, which left me scrambling at 7:15am trying to find an electrician.  Greenline answered immediately and was able to come out later that afternoon.  After some troubleshooting and exploratory work, the recommendation was to put the GCFI outlet on a dedicated circuit to prevent further disruption.  They came back the next day and did so quickly and efficiently, and even replaced the cover with a more durable one.  They also thoughtfully replaced our old and worn bedroom light switches and a scarred outlet for free - I really appreciated their thoughtfulness here.  They did all this for a very reasonable price and were easy to work with and communicative every step of the way.  I highly recommend them if you need any electrical work done!

What a great experience. Admittedly, this was a small job (hanging a couple of pendant lights in our bath), but I've had less than positive experiences with electricians in the past, so I was skeptical. But Highlight's exceeded expectations and lived up to their rave reviews. Provided a quick and reasonable estimate within hours. Kaplan showed up right on time, explained the issues with the existing fixtures and installed the new ones in a flash. Cordial, efficient and conscientious. Niki followed up the next day just to make sure all went well. The price was great (even less than the estimate). I really appreciate good customer service and these guys delivered.

Steer Clear. This is not a legitimate electrical company. Gave me an estimate and did the electrical work for an EV charger in our condo building. Even though building management didn't request City of Chicago license initially, they checked for it later (it can be asked for at any time) and this company is not licensed in the City of Chicago and its illegal to do residential work without it. The job was done completely wrong and he almost blew the sump pump and electrical to entire building by connecting to a panel inexplicably and was told not to. Installed wiring that was bent and broken and taped together which could have caused shocks and burning. New contractor easily installed it - no bends or breaks. The wall outlet installed was open and exposed, and if water dripped to it could electrocute people. Sloppy, cut corners, dangerous, illegal and not up to code. Absolute garbage, rushed work. Refused to get City of Chicago license and come fix job. We will be pursuing our money back. This is an illegitimate electrical company. Avoid at all costs.

Addendum to review:

Right, I'm not an electrician , but here are couple facts that a real electrician should have known and done, that found out about your job.

You were told by the building engineer to use the 480/277 volt panel because 208/120 was already at the capacity.

You just plainly ignored that and proceeded with your version. Maybe you don't know the difference between two.

You ran 208/ 120 wires through 480/277 panel which was a huge code violation and a human life safety issue.

And that's not all:

Then you spliced those wires inside that panel multiple times -- code violation.

You then decided to use lightning contractor conduit to run the wires and overfill that conduit -- code violation.

You installed the breaker at the wrong panel (which was at capacity) so you overloaded that panel.

The wire was badly scraped

You removed pipe straps and made the electrical conduit loose -- code violation.

J boxes that you installed were unsecured and loose with knock outs missing -- code violation

I'm still waiting on the city of Chicago electrical registration paperwork  from you.

A qualified electrician would know right away that he is working with 480/277 volts and would have informed me that i needed a step down transformer in order for the EV charger to work!

On top things you have charged me over $2K for 2 J boxes and a roll of #6 wire, which costs $600 at the most. The piping was already 97% there , so what took you so long.

It took a qualified electrician a total of 8 hours to remove the faulty work and install everything from scratch including installing the transformer.

We'll happily accept a refund to settle this matter

After attempting to install a new light fixture myself I ran into an electrical road block.  Jose of Tweaks & Finishes responded promptly to my request for an estimate, and scheduled the service call for the same day!  Jose, accompanied by Rodney arrived on time, and treated me and my home with such care and respect.  Jose was extremely knowledgeable, and quickly diagnosed my electrical problem-explaining the issue(s) found along the way.  A quick replacement of a burnt out dimmer switch restored my lighting, and mended the mess I created. Jose and Rodney also cleaned up the wires behind my many wall switches which they found to be a safety hazard, and installed my new ceiling light-all at a reasonable price within my budget.  Both gentlemen were kind, professional, and mindful-cleaning up after any small mess that was made.  I am thankful to have found Tweaks & Finishes, I am looking forward to using them again in the future for a painting project. I hired Jake and Urban Power to add two electrical meters and relocate the circuit breakers out of the garden unit to a common area so all tenants could have access to them at my 3-Flat property.  He is a master of his craft and did a great job providing solutions to the issues I presented and working efficiently on the install and relocation as well as managing the permitting process with Com-Ed.  He has deep experience working with rental properties and gave me some great insights to add value to the property including installing security lighting which I hired him to do as well.  I would highly recommend Jake and Urban Power for any electrical job big or small.

I needed some coaxial cable installed in my condo via a unique, hard-to-get-to entrance point. Blacklite was very responsive at nailing down a fair quote and timing. They sent Johnny to do the job for me. It was an exceptional experience. He suggested some ideas that made it more aesthetically pleasing which I had not thought of. He was very meticulous not only making sure that the wiring worked, but that it looked great as well.

An additional plus was the confirmation emails and texts on the planning out of the project. It's nice to know that plans are still in effect shortly before the job date. Blacklite is now my go-to operation for electrical needs.

I needed a ceiling fan and light fixture replaced. The fan I was installing was unique and unusually heavy. Julio was the technician that came to my home. He had great attention to detail. Any adjustment he needed to make he informed me of prior to receive authorization. He was very respectful of my home, wore shoe covers, and protected the furniture. He expertly installed both fixtures and cleaned up all work areas before he left. I highly recommend and would use this company again.

A++ in all aspects. I had great pleasure to hire Tom's company for our house project. The project included multiple rooms. Complete Bath and kitchen electrical renovation. Two bathrooms received outlets, switches, can lights and fans. The kitchen received  new can lights and outlets. Living room got new can lights. We also added wired smoke detectors throughout the house. Tom was a total professional when he came in for the estimate. Everything was explained so that there were no surprises any time during the project and he made sure that we understood the work that was going to take place. Prices were very competitive, and work was done in the time promised. Tom made sure that everything was done right, to code and left everything clean and spotless. I would definitely hire again. Ted changed out fixtures throughout our house, including a difficult chandelier in our dining room. He also fixed a hot outlet and looked at our garage electrical. He was on time, fairly priced, and did great work. We'll be using him again.

I used Fixer to install a new lighting fixture.They got back to me right away with a quote which I thought was a fair price. Scheduling was easy and on the day of the visit the techician showed up precisley at the scheduled time and was friendly and professional and did good work. I will definately be using them again.
