Highlights has helped me with multiple electric needs. I am a real estate broker who regularly refers them to clients with fantastic feedback and praise. Most recently, I had a little emergency. I was hosting a small charity event in my backyard, only to find that electricity was running through the railing of my deck! I texted Boz and his team arrived within 20 minutes (after hours) to correct the issue. They saved the party- and our health and safety! It meant so much that they hustled over to help me out. They are really the best. Use them- you wont regret it!

Excellent experience with Highlights!

Needed electricians to come out and
1)remove 5 existing chandeliers/fixtures,
2) install several new chandeliers,
3) assemble all of the new chandeliers and,
4)install two new wall sconces.

The new chandeliers had 300+ pieces for each, and I asked for this assembly to be included in the bid. They also are very heavy, ranging in weight from 40-150lbs. I spoke with Boz to request the estimate, and spoke with Kamal a couple of times when questions arose. They were easy to get a hold of, and were responsive and prompt.

The crew that came out on installation day were a pleasure to meet. Professional, helpful, and trustworthy. I actually had a couple of appointments that day and felt comfortable enough to leave while the crew continued their work.

I was shown a small crack in both of the new sconces, and thus had to postpone the installation. They came out as soon as I received the new shipment of sconces, and installed them promptly.

They bid by the scope of the project, not by the hour, and they do so rather quickly (received my est. within 24hrs).

They also have insurance for those in buildings that require COI's.

As both a homeowner and long-time landlord, I am very skeptical about all contractors. I found Highlights Chicago Electrical Services on Yelp, and was even more skeptical regarding well over 200 five-star reviews. I needed a major electrical service upgrade done on a historic landmark apartment building I own so I had no choice but to do the research and select a contractor.

I know there are ways to get great reviews on Yelp. However, nine times out of ten, those people or services won't bother to write reviews in great detail, let alone many paragraphs in length. As I read through the reviews I realized they were legit.

I can now add mine to the list. This company has truly earned every five-star review it has received. I have NEVER had such a positive experience with an electrical contractor. Quite the opposite. I got 3 different estimates, and they weren't the lowest, and not the highest either. Boz came out to look at what needed to be done (which included undoing the disaster the previous electrician created) within a few hours of my call. He explained everything in detail, and the pro's and con's of what my options were.

They never asked for any payment upfront! The estimate was extraordinarily detailed. Shock number one. The team I was assigned, Kaplan and Jose, showed up ready to go at 7 am the next day! Shock number two. They worked their butts off until well after 6 pm! Shock number 3. They came back the next two days and did it again. Shock number 4.

This is a company that is proud of what they do. The end result looked like a work of art. The conduit was perfectly aligned, evenly spaced and so symmetrical I couldn't get over it. Every detail was addressed, and all done without cutting corners, dodging building codes, or overcharging. Old houses are not easy to work on and require a lot of patience and genuine expertise. They worked around all the challenges and knocked it out of the ballpark.

As long as they are in business, I will NEVER use anyone else. The few hundred dollars you might save going with the lowest cost option is nothing compared to the misery you will spare yourself by having this company do the work. If I could give them more stars I would. They are also really nice people to work with. When was the last time you thought that about a contractor?

It's too bad I can't give Highlights ten stars for the work they did for us. They are just that good. I asked Boz to come in and quote a bunch of work for our kitchen, bathroom, and electrical panel that were left unfinished by our irresponsible contractor for our home renovation. Boz gave us a very reasonable quote to essentially fix a bad haircut. It involved fixing numerous outlets and switches, missing breakers, lighting, as well as new outlets and circuits. I was skeptical that it could be done in one day. Boz assessed the situation perfectly and pointed out things that I did not even know had been done negligently by the previous contractor.

I had been told by other electricians that they couldn't come in for a month. Boz sent in three of his electricians in the same week in which I signed the quote. Juve and Jose were two of the names I remember, but all three men were kind, clean, professional, and unbelievably thorough. They communicated everything to me and even gave me advice on which appliances to plug in where (who knew a four-slice toaster draws more power than a microwave oven on full throttle?). When they had questions, they didn't just ask me, but they also gave me my options and recommendations. When I didn't have an answer, they made the best decision possible and it worked.

They even did work that I didn't think of in order to do a complete job for the kitchen. They didn't add a single additional charge for any extra work they did... they did what they thought should be done in order to do the job right and completely. This is unheard of these days...anywhere. They worked relentlessly all day and only broke for lunch for an hour. They arrived at 7 am and worked until 5:30. Before they started, they protected all kitchen surfaces where they worked. Before they left, they cleaned up EVERYTHING. I have worked with many contractors in my commercial real estate job and in my home, and I have never met a group of tradesmen who were THIS good, this thorough, and this courteous. My only regret is that we didn't have them as our electricians for our renovation from the start. I cannot say enough good things about Highlights, Boz, and the staff. Remarkable.

Boz and his crew have been wonderful while working on our center, Kids Academy! While Kids Academy had the option to work with many other companies, we chose Highlights because they seemed honest, professional and fair in pricing. They have a kind and trustworthy demeanor and really built that trust with us right away. Every member of Highlights that was on site was friendly, professional, respectful and knowledgeable. They were fair with pricing and provided top quality for their work completed.

A couple of years back, I had the worst customer service with an electricity company and ended up contacting Highlights Chicago as an afterthought. I ALWAYS THINK ABOUT HOW I LUCKED OUT WITH THAT! Thank goodness for terrible service because I don't think I would've kept going down my list of contractors to call Highlights Chicago. I have consistently been hiring Highlights Chicago ever since. I'm no longer on the condo board, but when I needed an electrical job done on my own dime, I insisted on hiring them.

Even when my insurance company contacted me with a deductible rate and getting estimates from a few companies, I contacted one! I didn't get a response for a couple of days, so I blew up their phone calling and left a message. I didn't care what anybody else's estimate I was. I have hired them at least four times and know I can count on their work. (I've worked with at least five different guys. There was one guy who was a little snippy but did a good job on electric work. I asked for him to not return, but 99% of the time, I like the rest and would be happy to see them again.)

I didn't know the two guys who were at my front door this time though. I felt bad because I'd stopped to grab something to eat while running errands and was about 15 minutes late for their pickup window. Jogging back with my dog, I was relieved that they didn't leave. Both guys (my apologies because although one of them nailed my name, I forgot to ask for theirs) were informative, polite, professional, worked quickly and both helped me carry out the items that were removed. When I bluntly asked whether it was worth replacing the items or removing them, their answer was in alignment with safety versus just making more money. THAT WOULD MAKE ME HIRE HC EVEN QUICKER and request those two guys again.

And as is ALWAYS the case, Kemal was there to help me through service and pricing the whole time. Love this team. Can't say enough kind things about them. And they were half the price of my deductible, so money was saved and the insurance claim wasn't needed. Win win!

I called Highlights to give me a quote on installing some can lights in my basement, adding a dimmer switch, changing some outdoor lighting and adding a timer to my outdoor lights. The service representative was very straightforward on pricing estimate and the work was all done in just a few hours. Boz and and the entire team at Highlights is, simply put, incredible. There is zero chance I could have done my gut-rehab condo renovation without them. We were having an issue with the power in our detached garage shorting out and causing the breaker to pop/spark. Highlights Chicago had a team out within a day to take a look. Raul and Liam came out and were very professional and did a great job explaining what the issue was and how to fix it. We had previously gotten a few quotes for the project for $$$ involving digging up our yard and major work. Raul and his team identified the issue, tested a few potential solutions, and were able to find a more efficient (cost and time) way of fixing the problem.

I will be using Highlights Chicago for all my electrical needs moving forward!

Spoke to receptionist and was told I would get a call back. Never did. I guess business is not important to them.
Update: The next day I received a call from Kamal, (hope I spelled this correctly) who apologized and told me the reason why the call had not been returned. He then proceeded to inquire about my electrical issue and asked me to send him a picture of the issue so that he could direct the proper assistance (someone dealing in low voltage) to me. This is a man who cares about his business and I much appreciate his reaching out to me. I appreciate his offer of assistance to direct me to a technician who does deal with my specific issue. I have changed my rating of this business and wish to thank Kamal for his customer care and concern.

I learned about Highlights Chicago through online forums as they were a recommended installer for EV chargers.

I spoke with Boz and he provided a detailed explanation of how they were going to route the NEMA outlet from the basement, where my box was located, up to the garage. It was not easy as it needed to be routed through tight spaces and crawspace, but they were able to get it done.

The total job took about 3-4 hours, with Mladen and Kaplan as my techs. The two were very knowledgeable, friendly, and answered all my questions. When they were servicing the work, they laid tarp to ensure my basement did not get dirty. They brought cleaning spray and cleaned after themselves once the job was finished.

Should I move houses and need a new EV charging port, I will be going back to Highlights. Competitive prices + professionalism was huge in my experience.

I'm not really one to write reviews, but these guys are AMAZING and deserve the recognition. I had 3 outlets that weren't working. Because the technicians had finished up early on a job in my area, they were able to help me out same day. The guys showed up, super friendly and polite (wiped their shoes before walking into my apartment!), and quickly assessed the issues with my outlets. Two of them were easy to fix, like comically easy. But instead of being condescending, they walked me through the fix and what to do if it happened again, which as a female who knows NOTHING about electricity, I greatly appreciated. They fixed the 3rd outlet which required a bit more work very quickly. All in all the whole job took roughly 25 minutes and was WAY cheaper than I had been anticipating.

I will DEFINITELY be contacting this company again for any future electrical needs!

Understand that this is an electrician and that five stars is highly unlikely. After hiring Boz and his team, it came as no surprise to me why they do have five stars! They were referred to me by another electric company that I have used in the past, that was overwhelmed with business right now. That holds true to Highlights Chicago as well. Everyone in skilled trade is quite busy these days.

Here are the facts about the job:

Cut and reset a burned wire in my breaker box.

Ran a heavy gauge wire through my conduit starting at my breaker box, fishing it through the conduit- room to room until they reached the destination outlet for a new 23@ volt outlet for a 20 AMP window ac/heater I desperately needed in the winter.

The job was done with finesse and patience. Most of all they didn't need to damage any walls and left my areas (walls) completely clean.

Pricing was very fair (no electrical job is cheap, and you don't want a cheap job!) and the owner was completely transparent upfront from start to finish.

I will not hesitate to call this company again and neither should you, if you are on the fence on who you should contact for your next electrical job!

I highly recommend Boz and Highlights Chicago for any challenging custom electrical installation projects that might be on your horizon! Professional, efficient, adaptable & knowledgeable are words that come to mind when describing the electricians of Highlights Chicago! After receiving several quotes for the replacement of two light fixtures, one that hung 20 ft. up in the foyer and the other that hung 17 ft. up in the primary bedroom, I chose Highlights Chicago for the job based in large part on their strong recommendations and was not at all disappointed. Boz came through with his dream team of Raul, Gustavo & Christian. Original plan - use a 20' ladder for the foyer install but at 7:15 am this past Wednesday morning, the ladder quickly proved too large for the narrow foyer space. Undaunted, the crew came back the same morning and at 9:45 am, set about quickly building a 20' scaffold in the space to remove an old, wrought iron fixture that had come with the house and installing an antique store find in its place. Watching the progress, I was impressed with the speed, knowledge & teamwork that the three electricians displayed. Also, maneuvering 20 ft. up on the somewhat precarious scaffold was no easy feat, but the crew made it look effortless. Once the foyer job was finished, the scaffold was dismantled and brought up to the 2nd floor primary bedroom in order to remove an old ceiling fan that hung 17 ft. above. Down came the ceiling fan & up went the new chandelier and its numerous crystals that the team put together & hung while 12 ft. in the air. Both installs were finished by 1:45 pm, and the crew left the home spotless. Well done! I will definitely use Highlights Chicago for future rehab projects in both my real estate & interior design businesses! Thank you Highlights Chicago!

I needed a ceiling fan replaced, and an overhead light replaced - just outdated models in the condo I'd purchased. From my first call they were great: (1) able to fit me in within a week of my request; (2) their employees arrived early in the morning so I could get this done before starting work; (3) they were efficient while in my condo, and finished both projects from taking the lights out of the box to constructing the fan, to hanging it in just over an hour; (4) they removed my old lights and fan; and (5) sent me an invoice in a couple days for payment.

My projects weren't complicated, but I did have concerns about the wiring in the bedroom since the previous fan/light just cut off power. Luckily for me, Highlights assured me there was no electrical wiring problems - just an old piece of equipment.

Highly recommend for lighting needs around Chicago.

After self-installing a new fluorescent light ballast, something went terribly wrong and everything on one of our breakers wouldn't turn on. I called Highlights Chicago and they had someone over incredibly fast-- within an hour of me calling them. The technician not only got everything on the breaker working again, but also got the ballast itself working and reinstalled, which I had assumed was a total loss. The cost was $200. I'm very happy with their service and will definitely use them again.

After a different electrician didn't show for the job, I contacted Highlights on the recommendation of a colleague. From arriving soon for a quote to coming for the work a few days later, everything was smooth and professional. I needed some upgrades to my electric panel, a faulty under cabinet light replaced and a doorbell replaced, as well as an EV charger installed. Absolutely amazing service and quality of work. This is not the first time I have left a review of Highlights Chicago, as they have done multiple projects for us at at multiple locations. They respond immediately and work up a proposal right away. The price is quite fair especially in light of the outstanding work and extremely friendly service. Boz and his team seem to love what they do because they seem happy while they work. They probably know how good they are and have tremendous confidence in their work. There has never been an issue they couldn't handle and they explain everything. They keep the work area clean and do a final cleanup before they leave. This is one of the best run businesses in all of Chicagoland. We live in Evanston and they have done work for us here and in Chicago. I could go on and on, so let's just say there is no reason to ever use any other electrical company.

I had quotes from 5 different electrician from Chicagoland for service upgrade, meter replacement, panel replacement, and additional conduits/outlets for my two unit apt building in Lincoln sq. Highlights was by far the most reasonably priced, friendly and professional. I needed upgrade from 100amp to 200 on my 2 unit building, 3 new panel boxes with circuit breakers, including one new public box, new conduits and provide 240v for dryers in two units. Boz - the owner/ assessed the situation with a ton of expertise and clearly identified what needed to be done, which I did not see from other electricians we got quotes from. Boz was friendly, understanding and knowledgeable about chicago's codes/guidlines and knew exactly what we needed. He helped us understand the complexity of our needs/situation by explaining in terms that we understand.

Francisco - the lead electrician and his group went above and beyond on my 108 year old building: they added new wiring, 2 new circuit breakers, replaced outlets, installed led lights for the basement, grounded 8 wall sockets...for no extra charge. They were respectful of our living space by wearing masks and worked around my work schedule/meetings so that I wouldnt lose power at those times.

After the job was done, they went around and patched the major holes that had to be made for new wires. They also did a great job cleaning after themselves.

As someone who is paranoid about getting things right the first time, i hgihly recommend Highlights Chicago. They have done an outstanding job - better than what i've imagined.

I was in search of an electrician to work on my bungalow. The team put in new exterior outlets, split up two lights that were wired serially to the same switch, while replacing old cloth wire with updated wiring, and installed a dimmer switch for me.

I found these guys on Google just looking for local electricians in the area. Their reviews were good and their estimate was very competitive. Additionally, they were very responsive in coming out to look at the job, and were conservative about their options to tackle some of the trickier aspects of the job.

The end result is great so far. I will have to do some repair myself on the drywall removal for the new outlets, but they communicated this clearly going ahead of time.

Spectacular Service.

I am so thankful I called Highlights. Boz, and his team - Oskar and Rolando were everything and more.

I called to get a second opinion on installing a sub panel to power radiant heating for my floors (requiring two additional dedicated 240v lines). Boz informed me that the right way to do this would be relocating my box in my unit (was in a community basement). I thought we were looking at a week+ lead time and probably would need to sell my left kidney.

The team was able to complete in two days of work, four days in total from the moment I called them. Pricing was reasonable and absolutely worth the work.

I will recommend Highlights and this crew all day, every day. Thank you, Boz, Rolando, and Oskar; truly appreciate each of you and the hard work.

Highlights Electrical is truly amazing! They respond very quickly. Give fair prices and do very clean and well thought out work. I had a hot tub installed recently. Highlights installed the necessary power to the outside wall. Once the tub was delivered, they returned to hook up the tub to the power. They even came out on a Sunday because they knew how excited I was to get the tub working. The electrician Kaplan did a nice, clean job. Better than I ever expected. Couldn't be happier with them.

I've used Highlights Chicago twice now, once for a ceiling fan installation, and again for some pendant lights--they were super responsive and were able to send out someone to help within 24hrs.

I had the same technician both times and he was speedy, knowledgeable, and in the case of the pendant lights ended up figuring out an install solution that saved us a ton of time and money: can't recommend Highlights enough.

My partner and I purchased a home built in 1946 with an outdated electrical panel and cloth wiring. Upgrading the electrical service, installing proper grounding, and having as much cloth wiring as possible replaced was a top safety priority for us.

I spoke with several electricians, which was extremely educational. One team wanted to replace all of the cloth wiring by making small holes in the walls to replace flexible tubing with new flexible tubing (with new wire inside). This would have been slightly messy but didn't feel very forward-thinking. One team wanted to make significantly more trenches in the wall to replace the flexible tubing with conduit and to bring my 1946 home up to 2022 code. This seemed like a lofty goal, a very big mess, and not inline with my own goals.

Highlights, on the other hand, seemed extremely knowledgeable and familiar with old houses and how to embrace their limitations while making the electrical system as safe as possible. Boz spoke to me human to human and helped me feel reassured and never pressured. I am so glad I chose Highlights! The team of technicians worked so hard on my house, and they were extremely personable and helpful. They explained what they were doing, asked for my input, and were extremely diligent about fixing strange issues they came across. I appreciated that they billed based on time and materials (rather than a fixed price) because I knew if I asked for something extra they would charge me accordingly and not feel put out. I was so impressed with how well the team worked together and so grateful for the creativity and attention to detail they brought to problem solving. They treated me, my home, and each other with respect.

I will definitely use Highlights again in the future and highly recommend them!

Misinformation. Their business hours are 9-5 Monday to Friday. Their page claim they are open 24/7 which is not true. This is called misrepresentation, just so they can easily trap more clients who maybe indeed searching for an electrician off hours. Do business ethically or do not!You should put your business hours as it matches your voicemail and service operations.

My husband and I bought our first house this year, and the electricity was crumbling at best. There were rooms and closets with no overhead fixtures at all. To top of off, our electrical box on our exterior was not up to code for reasons I won't get into it here. To sum it up, our house was a huge undertaking.
Baz came to our house and was very pleasant, as we walked through room by room. He took notes, and even returned promptly in the next couple of days when we got cold feet on some of our decisions (where to relocate ext box). He assured us everything was going to look great, and that our ideas, some feeling too big to take on, we're achievable and would be no problem. Not only that, he cleaned up and removed old cords so that we didn't have a rats nest going to the alley. Amazing!
His team, led by Cristobal and Kaplan, and spent about 2-3 weeks working incredibly hard in our house, in the heat of the summer, and full of dust. They added 100 amp circuit, a new electrical box, circuit board, replaced all switches and outlets, and added all my custom overhead fixtures with such care and precision. They were gracious, and patient when I changed my mind on things and added switches, ect. They kept a steady pace the whole time, and were so polite about coming back to our house when light fixtures arrived after our first large initial push. I would 100% recommend them to my friends and anyone else wondering if these guys are the ones for the job. They sure are!

I used Highlights about a year ago to install a light fixture in my apartment, and everything went perfectly (please read my previous review)! Now a condo owner, I needed to have a ceiling light installed as well as have a new outlet added in my laundry closet.

Boz stopped by to perform the estimate, and he was very straightforward, providing both a plan A (which involved using existing conduit for the new outlet) and a plan B (running new conduit up to the ceiling and to the breaker box). The light installation was rather straightforward.

When the time came to move ahead with the project, I had a few challenges scheduling that I did not encounter previously. I chalked this up to the current high demand for tradespeople and also to a family emergency with my main contact at Highlights. Once scheduled, Boz returned with Ben and an assistant, who ran conduit for the light fixture and replaced the wall box to a 2-gang box. Ben was also able to use existing conduit to run the laundry outlet wiring, a big positive!

Highlights was willing to work with me on a second visit by Ben, since my light fixture did not arrive by the time of the first visit. Ben and an assistant came back out to install the fixture once it arrived, and did a great job.

I had a few minor quibbles this time around, with scheduling (as mentioned) and with the work. For example, the laundry outlet was to be put on a new breaker, but it was wired to an existing (but essentially unused) breaker instead. Functionally it all works the same, but there was a minor misunderstanding somewhere along the way.

All in all, I'm quite happy with the work and I'll use Highlights again in the future!

I scheduled an appointment for an electrical estimate this past Tuesday with a two hour window for them to show. They did not show. Then they proceeded to tell me they called my phone and were at my house during that two hour window which was a complete lie. I never left my front room and had my phone next to me the entire time. Nikki the receptionist then proceeded to tell me that it was his mistake and he apologized and would like to reschedule. We rescheduled for today between 8 and 10 AM and again I never left my front room next to my front door with my phone right next to my side and again no call no show. I then proceeded to call their office and cell phone numbers to get an explanation and left a message and no one has returned my call. Do not use this business and waste your time because they will waste your time!

Smoke alarm chirping, battery changed, no luck. My regular electrician was too busy to take the job and recommended Highlights. I am beyond satisfied. They responded to me immediately, had someone at the house in a little over an hour. After assessing the situation, found out that the smoke alarm unit-which is hard wired with battery back up, was no longer functional, replaced it and they were on their way,

Everyone at Highlights is amazing. The staff answering the phone is nice, professional and efficient. The guys that came out to fix our electrical problem with the A/C unit were also extremely nice and professional. They made two trips to Home Depot to get the right materials during their visit here. It was obvious that doing the job right was important to them.

Communication is probably their strong suit, which can be hard to find with contractors. I highly recommend!

I had called several electrical companies and they either didn't service my area Englewood, Chicago or were tied up with previous jobs. However, one referred me to Highlights Chicago THIS WAS THE BEST REFERRAL EVER! I called Highlights and within two days Boz from Highlights came out to give me an estimate. He was so cheery friendly professional and took his time, never rushing me as I explained our electrical problems. I got his proposal for the work within a day. It was detailed and gave pricing for each job. I accepted on Thursday and Highlights was at the property by Tuesday. They arrived on time and Boz was there to introduce his three electricians- Wil, Geraldo and Ben. They were so professional worked steadily in 86 degree weather only stopping for lunch-the job was an all day, literally accomplishment. I am so pleased with the work it is a family occupied building and everyone is estatic with what was done in each of their apartments and the lights on the two back porches. I would highly recommend these guys and if I need electrical work again there is no question what company I will be calling--Highlights Chicago!!

We've use Highlights Chicago for a handful of household electrical projects, moving outlets, trouble-shooting switches, installing new light boxes for canned lighting, a fan and other light fixtures. Pricing is fair. Everytime we have used them the team has been professional and courteous and has done great work. They are also very clear on what to expect and provided us with a recommendation for a contractor to help repair drywall. They always clean up after themselves and do great work. For our most recent project during the Pandemic they also all wore masks while servicing our unit. I should also note that I was really impressed that they showed up at 9AM after the city had gotten 15 inches of snow overnight, talk about reliable! I highly recommend highlights and would use them again.

These guys are absolutely AWESOME!

Kemal took my initial request and was so attentive scheduling Raul and Jose to install several light fixtures in my Rogers Park condo.

They removed an old ceiling fan from my bedroom and replaced it with a new ceiling fan I purchased. They also installed a new fixture in my dining room and installed a new light fixture in my living room. The new fixtures were still in the boxes so they put everything together too, saving me hours of frustration. The guys were so patient, showed up on time, put booties on their feet and wore their masks.

With the new fixtures, I decided to replace ugly wall sconces and contacted Kemal again and sent someone over in 1 hour! Wow! This time Elvir arrived and once again, put booties on over his shoes and wore his mask. Elvir is super tall, 6'6 so he didn't even need a ladder! He carefully measured and made sure the sconces were even and they look great.

Have to start by saying I rarely write reviews, but would highly recommend Hightlights for any electrical needs! I had the team out over the summer to correct previous electrical work from another company. They also got our pool equipment up and running. The chandelier pictured was just hung by Highlights yesterday and I couldn't be happier. Boz and team are extremely thorough, kind, and just a pleasure to work with. They went above and beyond ensuring the fixture was secure, moving boxes/furniture, and even vacuumed up any mess when they were finished. It is rare to find a business with fair prices as well as this elevated level of service. These guys were great! They showed up exactly when they said they would, both for the estimate and the actual work. Their price was totally reasonable and fair, and lower than two other quotes I received. They installed two new dedicated circuits and outlets in a new office in my house. They ran the new conduit from the basement to the second floor exactly as I requested. They also troubleshot a short, eventually locating the problem in the kitchen. They took the time to trace the short carefully, correct the problem, and even flipped an upside down outlet in my kitchen right-side up for me, without asking. These guys are incredible - great service, value, and unlike many contractors they take the time to really explain what they are doing, and why it is important. My partner and I recently purchased a 100 year old Chicago 2-flat that we thought needed a bit of work but, as it turns out, is one of those buildings where the previous owners thought they knew best and made slapdash DIY repairs/upgrades that are at best mediocre and at worst extremely dangerous. The Highlights team has already helped us bring the electric in the two flats up to code, disconnected the bonkers wiring in the basement in preparation for a demo and rebuild, and, when we realized the 8 ceiling fans throughout the building were disconnecting from the ceiling and hazardous to operate, came in and serviced and anchored all of the fans (apparently the previous owners had cut holes in the ceiling, connected the wiring, and called it a day). Then, when our demo team accidentally cut the power to our boiler furnace in January cold, they were able to get people out to us the day we called, earlier than their estimated time by 40 minutes, and the heat back up immediately. Sometimes they are a bit slow to respond, so follow up is important, especially right now when COVID is running rampant and making people call out sick and isolate, but these guys are worth waiting for, and they will come through in a crunch. As we continue to repair and renovate our home, we will continue to call on these guys, and I will be recommending them to anyone in their service area. Thank you, Baz and team!

I've used Highlights Chicago twice now and both times the service and professionalism were outstanding. My first experience was in 2019 when I needed wiring repaired to my smoke detectors throughout the house. The second time was a week ago when I needed a 14-50 outlet installed in the garage.

In both cases they arrived on-time, did the work properly and on budget. For the outlet in the garage I actually needed to have the ground pin orientation changed post-installation and they accommodated my request and had it changed within a couple of days.

I would highly recommend for any electrical or wiring related project.

I highly recommend Highlights. Needed a second opinion on some electrical repairs, and Baz was able to make it out for an estimate the next day (he would've come the same day if I'd been available!). Not only was he able to match the competitor's price, but he included a few small additional services on top, and was able to book me only 3 days later (again, would've been 2 if not for myself).

Raul and Jose showed up on time, in masks, and made an effort to keep as much of the snow outside as possible. Then they spent 2 hours outside installing a ground rod when it was only 5 degrees F. They cleaned up my electrical panel and installed a new circuit to replace a hazardous power strip in the basement left behind by the previous owner.

When they were finished, Jose took the time to mop up any slush from outside, which was very much appreciated. I'm very happy with the work they did.

These folks are great, I'd definitely return to Highlights in the future.

This week was the second time that I have used Highlights Chicago. The first was back in 2017, when we first bought our house. We wanted to swap up some fixtures and install a ceiling fan. The guys showed up the next day, right on time, and were done in just about two hours. Price was reasonable, and workers were super professional.

That leads us to this week. We just completed adding a new deck to our home. And of course, any outdoor living space needs power. So I immediately turned to Highlights Chicago. As with 3.5 years ago, the crew was able to come out right away. They looked at our new deck, helped us decide where to put the new outlets, ran a new line, and even swapped out some old outlets for us. They were here for about half a day. The crew even swept up a little before they left. Could not be happier with the service. Thanks to Kamal and his crew for being so professional and prompt.

I hired Highlights to install an electrical outlet in my closet. They were very responsive, replying to my emails and calls right away. They were able to provide a quote through pictures and they were reasonably priced. I was able to schedule the work to be done quickly and they ended up not having to cut through my drywall because the techs found another electrical outlet in my bathroom next door that could be used. And since the original quote included cutting of the drywall they even adjusted my quote since they didn't have to do that. I highly recommend them and looking forward to hiring them for more projects in the future!

Working with highlights was an absolute pleasure. They made the entire process very simple. Niki was wonderful and responsive in explaining to me the necessary work and getting me scheduled.

Once my electrician, Juve, came out, it was a very smooth process. He went above and beyond to explain the work he was doing, and was very considerate of where I wanted my light fixture to go. He was extremely knowledgeable and offered advice on other elements of my home regarding what options I had for different recessed lighting. He demonstrated the highest level of professionalism and respect.

While estimated higher, the invoice actually ended up being lower than the estimate, which was such a pleasant surprise! Cannot recommend these guys enough!

I needed a dedicated circuit installed to supply power to the heated floors that were being installed the following week. Highlights worked around my schedule to provide a free on-site inspection with quote. Highlights' price was less than half the price that I was quoted by another electrician I had used twice before. I'm very happy with the work performed, and the electrician was willing to answer some electrical questions that weren't even related to the job.

The only negative about this experience was that they didn't give me much of a heads up when scheduling my appointment. I received an email around midnight saying we'll be there between 12:00-2:00 pm tomorrow.

Overall, I highly recommend this business and I will definitely use them for my future electrical work.

What a great experience. Admittedly, this was a small job (hanging a couple of pendant lights in our bath), but I've had less than positive experiences with electricians in the past, so I was skeptical. But Highlight's exceeded expectations and lived up to their rave reviews. Provided a quick and reasonable estimate within hours. Kaplan showed up right on time, explained the issues with the existing fixtures and installed the new ones in a flash. Cordial, efficient and conscientious. Imagine our consternation one hot summer evening when the electricity abruptly went off in half of our home. This included the central AC, a freezer, and the garage door. Oddly enough, none of the circuit breakers had tripped. Surmising that a disconnected wire was lurking somewhere, I went on Yelp and did a quick search for emergency 24/7 electricians, and that's how I found Highlights.

They answered my distress call promptly and dispatched a technician who arrived less than thirty minutes later. That's what I call phenomenal service. Mike knew what to look for. Finding nothing amiss at the electrical panel, he checked the two ComEd feeds to our electric meter. Bingo. One of the underground cables was dead, hence the partial electric service.

Mike apologetically explained that feeds outside of our home were under ComEd's jurisdiction and I would need to contact them for repairs (I did, and a ComEd crew restored our power later that evening). The bill for Highlight's after-hours emergency service call was $185. Ouch indeed. But the quickness of their response was impressive and the electrician was highly skilled and friendly. I definitely recommend this company.

I had Highlights come out to check out a switch that went bad, as well as replace some others. They were extremely prompt, but unfortunately I had a last minute emergency and had to cancel right before they showed up. They were extremely accommodating about the emergency and rescheduled.

For the actual appointment, things went just as smooth. I had actually gotten an incorrect switch and they took the time to explain why it wouldn't work and what I should get to replace it. The other installs and checks went smooth as well, and they were in and out in a flash.

I wouldn't hesitate to reach out to Highlights again. Don't confuse them with the magazine, though. Different people. :(

Highlight Electric does excellent work. Mile and Gig have done more than one job for me and they are highly skilled in their craft and very professional. They troubleshooted an electrical issue I was having with dimming lights and addressed my issue letting me know what they were doing every step of the way. They fixed some other quirks they uncovered along the way and they labeled my electrical panels. I can now rest assured my electrical is safe and my problem is correctly addressed. Highlights ran a 240 service in my condo, allowing me to finally replace the 120V W/D that became too costly to repair and impossible to replace.

I would recommend them in a heartbeat. From the initial quote/on site visit from Boz to the subsequent install, and easy CC payment over the phone with Niki, every person I dealt with was professional and straightforward.

Quote/proposal matched final invoice; no hidden fees or attempts to cite extra work, etc. They even worked with me obtaining the COI that my HOA and Mgmt. Co. required - a back and forth process they could have easily given up on for a relatively minor sale.

We needed some electrical work done in our 150 year old recently purchased 2 flat. We kept flipping the breaker in the kitchen when appliances were running, electrical outlets were loose, we had a ceiling fan hanging by wires, closet lights weren't working, and we wanted to add some outlets to a couple of rooms. Highlights came out and look through our issues for a quote. Prompt and patient with us, WE ARE A HANDFUL, and we had a quote back within a couple days. Boz did great with answering all of our questions, and when we decided things last minute he was able to fit all the changes in. The crew of 3 showed up on time and worked diligently to get everything done in a day. They worked around our large pittie rescue and 2 fat cats and were very respectful. They KILLED IT. They also found a leak when up in our scary attic. They showed us pictures so we could contact a roofing company and actually saved us money so we could get it repaired before it got worse. Customer Service was ridiculous and cost was reasonable. We got a couple quotes and are so delighted that we chose Highlights. We'll be using them any time we need electrical done. They got life customers with us.

Make sure you discuss the feasibility of the installation PRIOR to agreeing to have them come out. I wanted to replace an existing chandelier with a 6 inch canned light to exactly match all the other canned lights in the room. I sent photos of the existing canned lights and the chandelier. When they arrived, the technician didn't even bring materials for a canned light and instead brought a DIY type bathroom style light instead, so they knew the installation of a canned light wouldn't have worked because of this adjacent vent and didn't communicate that to me. This still charged me with the full $185 minimum house call fee in addition to the material of the fake light, when I could have just gone to home depot and bought it and installed myself in an hour.

I do not think there is a better electrician in the midwest if not the country. Seriously, brilliant customer service and excellent techs who are knowledgable and completely professional keep us coming back. Let me explain why...

I am a property manager for a management company in Chicago. We have used countless vendors but Highlights is our main electrician. From our vintage buildings to our west loop luxury condos, they can do it all. They also are so well versed in lighting and lighting troubleshooting that I have saved hundreds on work because they understand those tricky wattages.

Last but not least there is Kemal. Dealing with him is like calling up an old friend. The kindness and how he goes above and beyond for clients is really exceptional. Trades can be hard and gruff when it comes to coordinating work but Kemal is so helpful and considerate!!

If you don't go with Highlights... you are making a mistake!

- Came out same day for an estimate, with a VERY competitive bid (a couple 220 outlets in the garage, and a low voltage transformer for a Nest doorbell)

They did a great and thorough job on running a dedicated home run line for in-unit laundry in my vintage condo. During this project they ran a junction box for a ceiling light in my living room. The electricians from Highlights who came to our home were simply excellent. They were true problem solvers and worked quickly to diagnose and fix the electrical issue we were having with our HVAC system. They were professional. I would call Highlights again for electrical work.

I called Highlights Chicago late Monday night because the conduit pipe attached to our two flat building came down due to ice buildup from all the snow. Within an hour, received a call from Boz to discuss the job details and he came out the next morning to survey the problem and provide the job proposal. Today, our electrician Daniel came to the property and fixed our issue. The team was very professional and job was completed in a timely manner. Can I give more than 5 stars? These guys are world class honestly. Their bid for installing 3 EV chargers at our condo building was less than half than a few other bids we got. Then the actual work? Wow! This company was wonderful. We had several electrical projects we needed done at our house, I called Highlights and they came out the very next day to take a look and give me an estimate. The estimate came that evening, it was very fairly priced & gave a detailed description of what they would do.

I've used Highlights for two projects at my home. I couldn't have had a better experience both times. We had Jimmy as our lead tech for both jobs. My tenant was not able to get power in half of her apartment. After calling Highlights, they were able to send over a tech within 30 minutes. Ben arrived and was wearing a facemask due to COVID and was able to troubleshoot and solve the issue within 30 minutes. Unfortunately, four days later my tenant lost power to 2 of her rooms. After contacting Highlights, they sent out Ben and he was able to find the source by cutting a portion of the dropped ceiling to find a hidden junction box in which he was able to rewire and restore electricity not only to both of the rooms but also to a ceiling light fixture in the hallway that was not working for awhile. Ben was able to reattach the portion of the ceiling wall that he cut into as well. I was very pleased by Ben's professionalism throughout the duration of his services. Had a long list of items I asked for a quote on (outside motion light, rewiring basement canned lights, repairing broken switch, etc). Boz was able to come out and give a quote the same day.

Price was extremely reasonable. I always fear getting quotes from new places. Two guys came out to do the work and finished everything in one day. Everyone was great! They wore masks, finished all the work the same day, cleaned up after themselves, and even updated some conduit I wasn't expecting.

We were very happy with our experience with Highlights. From start to finish, they were responsive, easy to communicate with, clear, and flexible. On the day of service Juve and Oscar went above and beyond. They were kept us up to date on progress and were flexible and open to making things work for our old house that has some creative electrical configurations. Ultimately, they completed everything on our list including fixing an outlet, reconfiguring three way switches, installing a new outlet, and installing a wired doorbell. They even helped us figure out some of our unlabeled switches on our fuse box. Both wore masks as a Covid precaution and used tarps where they were working so that our house was just as clean when they left. During the excavation work as part of our pool project, the electrical feed from the house to the garage was severed. Highlights Chicago Electrical Services had done fantastic work for our condominium association in the past so when I personally needed work done, I hired them. They replaced a faulty GFCI outlet by my kitchen sink, removed an old audio volume control from the wall and installed a new chandelier. They asked questions appropriate for the work. (chandelier placement, chandelier height, etc.). They worked efficiently and cleaned up when their work was complete. I would definitely hire them for future work.
Update - 27-Oct-2021- I had additional work to be done. Again, the electrician that came out did a fantastic job. They replaced a wired smoke detector with a combo smoke detector / carbon monoxide detector, capped off the original carbon monoxide detector, replaced 1 closet light, and replaced 2 exterior lights. He worked swiftly and efficiently. I will definitely use them again for my future electrical needs.

I required a list of items I needed addressed, as well as trouble shooting additional items. Boz came out at the scheduled time, listened to my needs and pointed out some additional items to meet code. He included all items in his estimate, as well as the trouble shooting items. I had three companies come out for estimates, I found it interesting how the prices varied so much. The crew came out on the scheduled dates, took care of everything. The quality of work was outstanding. This is a partial list of the items needed

Multiple GFCI outlets, trouble shot and repaired in bath and kitchen. As well as new ones to meet code. Including replacing sump pump outlet with GFCI code required outlet on separate circuit. Exterior GFCI replacement on separate circuit.

Replacement of overloaded panel with larger one, there were no open slots.. Resolving circuits that were overloaded. New wiring to the new circuits with minimal movement of wall covering (panels).

Replacing BX cables with wiring in pipes, Moved junction boxes to better positions.

They provided an estimate via email instead of giving me the runaround or offering to send someone out for a fee to then give me an estimate in person. All I can say is WOW!!! Filled out the request for service on line, soon after I received a quote. I called and spoke to the ever so nice Niki who scheduled the appointment that met my needs. I needed to swap out a ceiling fan in one of my bedrooms. On the service day, they were on time, friendly and completed the job within 40 minutes with complete clean up and removal of the old fan!! Hands down one of the best companies I have worked with. I had an outage in my attic, which made several outlets and lights not work. I had 5 people come out to check the problem. None of them were able to figure it out. 2 just refused to look into the issue. I went on Yelp and found Highlights Chicago. They were amazing from the initial call. I've had them out twice to install fixtures. Both gentleman who came out were awesome, knew what they were doing, kind and respectful. They're a little on the pricier side so if you're concerned about that talk with them and get a cost up front and tell them your budget.

To me, it's all about who is in your home when they come to do the job, and the two gentleman Milos ( may have spelling wrong) and Elvisr were fantastic. On top of that they followed all indoor safety protocols and masks the whole time, and I never felt uneasy being at home whilst they were here working.

He got straight to work and found the problem immediately. I used to use neighborhood electricians that were independent and friends but they all retired or their kids who they handed down the business to retired and the next generation didn't continue the business. I am lucky that I found this company. I am definitely going to recommend them to friends and family and will use them in the future as needed

Electricians are expensive to begin with but they are very reasonably priced for electricians and safety is the most important thing in electrical work and they take safety seriously and inform you what is the best way to keep things safe

This company has a 5 star rating for a reason. I needed to add 10 recessed can lights to my ceiling and asked Highlights to give me a proposal. After spending just 10 minutes with the owner, Boz I had a comfort level that this guy was genuine and cared deeply about the quality of his work and my satisfaction. His price came in line with other the other bids I received and I thought overall was very fair. After selecting Highlights to do the work my impression was confirmed by the team he sent. They were super professional and just all around nice people. They worked efficiently and ended up saving me much money by completing the project without me having to do any drywall patching or painting- absolutely incredible! They even totally cleaned up afterward (including wiping down the floor). Something that used to be a standard but hard to find these days. I CAN'T RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY ENOUGH. I will certainly be calling them again for my next electrical project.

We were recommended Highlights from the friendly people at the South Loop Home Depot and Aemal was prompt and curious on the phone and had amazingly reasonable rates. They offered a flat fee instead of an hourly rate.

All in all we had a bathroom fan and balcony outlet replaced by Zoran (I think that's how you spell his name) as well as doing some needed repairs inside our fuse box. He only spent 2.5 hours and that included going to get an extra part we were missing. He was friendly, professional, and extremely neat when cleaning up - didn't even need to cut a hole in my ceiling to replace the fan!

Would definitely recommend Highlights for any electrical work.

I called Boz in the morning to have an issue with our electrical panel checked out, which was found in a home inspection and everyone at the company was extremely friendly and accommodating. I was referred here by the owner of Skyline Electric, since they couldn't fit us in.

We were hoping to get this issue addressed ASAP and Boz assured me they would get someone out between 12-2. I got a text message with a better time frame and the technician was even early! Mike showed up and he was friendly, compassionate and very knowledgeable. He is just a great person all around. He was able to quickly figure out the issue, fix it on the spot and had the upmost professionalism. He cleaned everything up and wouldn't accept my help.

I received an email soon after of a detailed account of what was completed to ensure to our buyers the problem was properly taken care of and everything was safe.

Great service! I had an emergency with one of my rental units with no electricity due to a electrical wire issue. I called this company and they were professional, prompt (got here in an hour) and took care of the problem immediately! Electricity was back on in no time! They charged a reasonable

We needed a ceiling light installed in our bedroom where I suspected there was a strange wiring situation, so I reached out to Highlights and they sent a technician the next day to help. Hi. New homeowner here. My husband and I bought a 1955 bungalow that was rocking some 60amp service and had a myriad of do-it-yourself projects done to it that rendered the home a bit of mess when it came to electrical. We had originally selected an electrician, but after receiving his quote decided to shop around a bit. Through a quick search on Yelp and Google (gotta check all the sources), Highlights came very well recommended. I can say that every positive recommendation is absolutely well-deserved. Their pricing was beyond fair and the team of Boz, Raul, Juve, and Ighor were genuinely kind and professional. They walked me through each item to be completed and gave guidance and suggestions when necessary.
The following items were completed and exceeded our expectations:
+Upgrade to 200amp service-including repositioning the entry point of our lines to furtherest corner of the house.
+Run 4 cat6 Ethernet cables to various points in the home
+Troubleshoot the basement light from hell
+Replace several 2 prong outlets to grounded, fix improperly installed, and added GFCI outlets
+2 weeks later when I blew two fuses doing something I shouldn't have been, they came out to rescue me within 24 hours. Special shout out to Raul for not scolding me and my handy work and then giving pointers about my electrical panel.

My final note here, and what has sealed the deal on being a forever customer with Highlights, is Kemal. I can't tell you the number of times I've called a contractor or business to never receive a phone call back or have short clipped answers from a stressed out contractor. That is absolutely NOT the case when you call Highlights. They get your information, limit the game of phone-tag, and communicate so effectively with you and each other. I don't save many business numbers in my phone, but I'm saving this one.

This company is awesome. We were referred to them by another company that didn't have the capacity to take our job, but we were so happy to be referred to Highlights! We live in a turn-of-the-century condo and the power went out during a storm. Turns out, we had a circuit breaker that was from when electricity had been installed in the building (so probably 80-90 years old). Boz was super helpful in getting a proposal out to us because we were literally in the dark. Once we accepted the proposal, he had a team there at 8AM the next day. They finished the work by that afternoon. Boz followed up the next day to check-in. We had a little issue with the lights not staying on, so the crew came back out to fix the problem the next day. That's excellent customer service in my book, and I will definitely keep Highlights number handy.

If you're one of those who did not get good service from this company be warned if you post a negative review on them, they will call you right afterwards and harass you, after I blocked them from calling me from one number I had the block them again for calling me with another number. I trusted them with all of their five star ratings from those apparently satisfied, they probably were highlights probably did a very good job for them and would have done one for me except it would have been totally unnecessary the $2,800 they wanted from me was unnecessary due to the fact it was a ComEd problem they came out and replace a burnt line coming in to my house, Boz told me it was an inside problem and I could burn up and catch fire if I don't let him do his work. I have to wonder how many others will charge for work that was not necessary at least it wasn't me.

Highlights Chicago did a great job overall. We had electrical boxes added in our ceiling to center a chandelier and addition of two kitchen pendants. We also had several cans installed in place of track lighting. The technicians Raul and Juve were very thoughtful and helped us plan out where to place our lighting for the best results. Our ceiling light fixtures were centered perfectly. They were very respectful and made sure that no mess was left after the job. Customer service by Kamal and Boz was also fantastic as they were friendly, prompt, and replied very quickly. Wwe were able to schedule service really fast as well. I can't say enough about these guys!!! I reached out to 3-4 electricians to get a quote to install 3 unique ceiling fans. Their quote came in lower than most of the others, but I just got a good feeling when speaking to the lady on the phone. They seemed much more straightforward than the other guys. The lights took some assembly, and it took their electrician (who was SO friendly and hard working) half a day to install them, due to the fact that two were not working from the factory. He spent more than an hour on the phone with customer service trying to diagnose the problem. I thought, great...now I have to wait a few more days and pay double to have them installed given how much time they spent. I was wrong. He offered to come back when the new lights came in. WOW! That's customer service. These guys have earned my business for as long as I can imagine!

Highlights was great to work with and I'd use them again in a heartbeat.

Boz was fantastic. Very professional and easy to talk to. I had a fairly long list of items I wanted to accomplish and he was transparent about what all would have to be done in order to fulfill my list. After his in person consultation, he was understanding about a number of changes I wanted to incorporate and his quote was detailed and a very good price. Even when the job ended up expanding a bit beyond the quote, I wasn't charged over the quote.

Raoul was a rockstar and clearly knew what he was doing. He never indicated any reservation about getting everything done and was friendly regardless of what challenges I know must have come up during the job. The cuts he made in the drywall were all very well done and all of the wiring was very clean and proper.

Adrian also was wonderful with the low voltage work that was required. He understood what I was trying to do with network cable that was run and was a pro at resolving the routing and bundling in a better way than I was envisioning. We needed a building buzzer fixed and he took one look at it, knew the issue, fixed it within minutes and only charged me for the replacement part. He also had some suggestions on a few improvements that Raoul was happy to quickly implement at no additional cost.

Any communication I had with anyone on the job was crystal clear, quick and concise. Their rate was by far the best one and the quality of the work and the people involved was top notch. I'll use them again for any electrical work I need done, regardless of size/scope. They know what they're doing and their rates are good.

Can't say enough about these guys.Christopher and Copeland were awesome and did a great job. We had an issue at the very end where we kept hearing a loud vibration coming through the ceiling every time we turned the breakers back on. They patiently went through the house looking for it only for us to figure out it was the sub woofer on the floor causing the noise - this was after two hours! They were so patient and I felt so bad they went through this. Greatly appreciate them and Boz for doing a fantastic job upgrading my panel and installing additional fixtures in the basement. I can't even begin to tell you how thrilled I am with the service I received from Highlights Chicago. First of all, I was referred to Highlights Chicago by Jeanette at Skyline Electric and am so thankful for her recommendation (my address was outside of their service area). Here's my story. I was having issues with my Kenmore washer which was part of a stackable laundry unit. I called Sears repair on 4/28/20. I made an appointment for the next day. On 4/29/20 the technician that arrived determined that the unit needed a new Laundry Center Dryer Electronic Control Board and a Laundry Center Water Valve Assembly. He ordered the parts to be shipped to my address and scheduled another appointment for 5/18 telling me if I received the parts before then I could make an appointment for an earlier time. The parts had not arrived by 5/18 and since I couldn't get a satisfactory explanation from Sears about when I could expect to receive them, I cancelled my appointment. I then called Chicago Appliance Company. I was able to get an appointment for the next day. The repairman told me that it could be one of three different issues causing the problem. He came back on three separate occasions each time switching out different parts. Nothing worked. I ended up purchasing a new GE stackable laundry unit from Cole's. BTW - The Kenmore unit was only 5 years old. The new unit was installed on 5/28. On 5/29 I tried to do a load of laundry and the washer wasn't performing correctly. I called Cole's and they sent over the guy who installed the unit. He told me that the problem was probably with the electrical outlet. I got a recommendation from Cole's for an electrician who came out the next day and switched out the outlet. That seemed to fix the problem until 7/11 when my washer wouldn't drain, rinse, or spin. I made an appointment with GE Appliance Repair but the earliest that they could come was 7/21. I got to thinking about the problem and wondered if it could be something else with the electrical system. I called Highlights Chicago this morning at 7:00 a.m. I talked to Boz. I explained the problem and was able to make an appointment for today between 8:30-9:00. Jimmy and Delvin arrived at 8:30. I explained the situation and it didn't take long for them to locate the problem. It was a worn circuit breaker in the electrical panel. Needless to say, I was so relieved that someone finally figured out what was wrong. Jimmy explained everything to me in detail. He and Delvin are the best servicemen I've ever encountered. I highly recommend Highlights Chicago and Jimmy and Delvin. Thanks guys! You're the best!

These guys are SUPER professional, on time, very friendly, responsible and honestly, the best electricians in Chicago. I've dealt with many contractors, what a pain. But Boz the owner is awesome. They redid my kitchen, my living room, bedroom, new electrical panel.... They warned me that the last guy installed it such that I could have a fire. If I could give Highlights Chicago more stars I would. I had an electrical outage in half of an apartment in a building my husband and I own. My husband is very handy and could not find the short in any of the electrical lines. I looked on yelp and called several highly rated companies but none could come out for over a week. At. Highlights they made time for me at the end of the day since this was an emergency. As it turns out they finished another job early were able to fit me in earlier. Ben and Martin were knowledgeable and went right to work. They located the short in the apartment as well as looked at the electrical panel for the building and made some adjustments.
They are now my numero uno for all electrical needs. And even better ... they were extremely reasonable cost wise.

I needed to connect an electrical oven in my kitchen, but didn't have 220 volts near by. They got power from the basement, routed behind the kitchen cabinets and connected the oven in less than two hours. They were clean and careful not to damage anything. I called because they redid the entire electrical panel in my house over 10 years ago and did a fantastic job. The team was very professional, accessible, and finished my condo's electrical issues expeditiously. Setting up an appointment was easy over the phone with Kemal, and payment was straightforward. More importantly, the job was done well. The price is about in-line with other electricians I called. As of today, it's $180 per field visit (an hour of work included) + any replacement materials; I'd advise to buy any potential materials ahead of time as materials are a fairly expensive add-on, likely due to a convenience premium. But the difference for me is that this team was able to provide flexibility in their scheduling where others couldn't. They are very easy to work with, and I'll be calling them again for future electrical issues.

My fiance and I bought a new home in May. The 100 amp electrical box was not grounded and we only had a 60 amp service. We called numerous electricians and a few came out to quote us, including Boz (the owner).

All the other electricians that came up were trying to up sell me on usb outlets, to 200 amp service and the electrical box without really telling me why. Boz thoroughly explained everything and even mentioned that if we wanted to save some money then we could just do a 100 amp grounding and 100 amp service and be done with it. In the interim, he even fixed a few items on the 100 amp panel for free. He then explained how the 200 amp service would be a long-term solution, but what he could do is a 200 amp grounding and then we could decide in the future if we wanted to upgrade to the service/panel to 200 amp.

Francisco and team came out to do the grounding. He showed up right on time, was very pleasant and a breeze to deal with.

After seeing the work and how well it went working with Boz/Francisco we decided to go through with the 200 amp service/panel. So, they came out a second time roughly a month after to perform the upgrade. Everything is running great!

For any future electrical work at our home, we will be going with them. Thanks again Boz and Francisco!

Great experience with Highlights. I was referred to them buy another company that didn't service my area, so they referred me to Highlights. I called Boz, spoke with him briefly - polite but a little short (Iikely in the midst of another job) - so he asked me to text details. Very responsive, got visit scheduled within 2 days. I needed a GFCI cirtcuit diagnosed/replaced on a whirlpool tub.

Ben is the technician who serviced my condo. He was excellent - on time (arrived towards the top of the time window they provided), extremely polite, professional and quick. He diagnosed the issue, didn't have the necessary part to repair so made a home depot run, returned within the hour, and had the work completed in about 20 minutes or so.

Called the office to pay via credit card, and spoke with Aemal (sp?) who was exceptionally personable and professional.

Would consider Highlights ago if I have future needs.

If you have electrical issues, call now! We had some old, outdated lights out on our patio that got really hot and looked like a hazard. Highlights was able to come out right away and remove them quickly and update our exterior outlets to keep everything up to code. Additionally, they made some recommendations on how to make our outdoor electrical situation more safe (I'll call you guys soon to do that!). All in all a great experience, but WAIT! Our irrigation system wasn't working and I thought something electrical had been goofed up in the first process. I was so wrong... instead it was an errant husband out poking around, flipping switches, plugging and unplugging things. When Highlights responded to my SOS, they were so patient as they flipped the exterior switch to on and handed me the plug. Embarrassing. So embarrassing. But these guys make everything painless and didn't even chuckle - which is self-control than I would have had if things were reversed. Thanks so much - we'll call for future jobs as I'm sure there will be many in this circa-1921 building!

I purchased a fan from HomeDepot and hadn't a clue about how to install it. HomeDepot sent my information to a number of electricians and Highlights contacted me within 1 hour - all the others called 1 day later.

I told Kem I was hoping to have the ceiling fan (w light) installed ASAP and he moved the schedule around to have someone come by the following day.

I was referred to these guys from another electrician that I had contacted, but had a full schedule - I am so happy for the referral! I left a message, which was returned within a few hours and an appointment was scheduled for the very next morning. We had recently purchased a house and there seemed to be an issue with an outlet in the basement that was powering a pump for our basement bar sink. Jimmy was EARLY, wore a mask and also took off his outdoor shoes when entering our house, quickly assessed the issue and went to Home Depot to buy the items he needed for the fix. I came home from a work trip and realized I lost all electricity in the back part of my condo on a Friday. I called Highlights that day, and they came out the same day to assess the damage. After submitting a proposal for the work, my condo association kept asking for edits, clarifications, and finally that Highlights identify the exact cause of the loss of my electricity. Highlights promptly and patiently addressed all these issues, including identifying the exact wire that caused my shortage. Instead of delaying the work after the evaluation, Highlights continued to work at my place the entire day, even in suboptimal weather. I hired Highlights to install new LED lighting fixtures throughout my condo on the north side of Chicago. These lighting fixtures included 29 can ceiling fixtures, 13 track lights, 2 flush mount ceiling fixtures, 3 new closet lights, all new dimmer switches throughout the unit. Highlights purchased LED fixtures for my living and dining areas. These 3000K lights were so bright that they did not work well. After I pointed this out they went out and purchased some wonderful 2700K warm lights. They made this change without question or additional charge to me. The new lighting throughout my home is beautiful. I have control to adjust the lighting for the time of day or to create the appropriate atmosphere or mood I wish. The crew that worked on this project was led by Stephan and was always friendly, respectful, and professional. As the project progressed they were most helpful in working on small amendments and additions. I received 1st class service and I strongly recommend Highlights Electrical if you are considering electrical repairs or updates to your home.

Bought track light kit and a new ceiling fan on Thursday, both were installed (and old fixtures removed) by Friday afternoon. Hi Light was flexible with arrival times, I had to move it twice and they arrived promptly still.

Our new fixtures were missing pieces to be compatible with our concrete building structure and Raul and team were about to adapt without issue.

They found their own parking, were in and out in 75 minutes. Honestly probably the best service I've had from any Delivery or maintenance person in at least the last 10 occasions.

I would highly recommend this company for any electrical job. While home renovations have a reputation for running over schedule and over budget, Highlights finished our job on time and on budget, keeping us apprised of every step. Raul and his team were courteous, prompt and informative.
Raul was very thorough and detail-oriented asking questions regularly to ensure that our expectations were met. He not only communicated well with us, but also with the other contractors working simultaneously on other aspects of our renovation.

Called on Tuesday 11/27 around 5 pm. I needed a new plug installed for my dryer. Spoke with someone who said they would call me back that night or email me. That never happened. I tried calling Wednesday 4 times to the same number and it was sent to a fax machine. It has been 5 days and there has been no call backs and no emails! If your unable to do the job you could have at least emailed or called to say your schedule was full. I had to call another electrician, who by the way came out the same day! My experience with Highlights was just plain RUDE and a waste of my time.

I was referred to Highlights Chicago by Skyline Electric, another 5-star electrician, and feel that I really lucked out. Kemal was friendly, knowledgeable, and responsive and patiently managed the complexities of my building's strict construction requirements. There are no words that can describe my gratitude for Highlights supreme customer service and superb response time. I needed a diagnosis for an issue occurring at a condo that I no longer reside in - in what was the first snow storm of the winter, highlights not only answered my phone call with professionalism but was able to send out an electrician within the hour. Darryl, the electrician was extremely personable, knowledgeable, and walked me through every step of the way. A family member had hardwired and installed wall sconces but they wouldn't turn on. I also wanted someone to remove and replace those sconces. My neighbor had hired Highlights for her kitchen remodel and referred them to me. I called them on a Saturday afternoon and received a call back Monday morning. They sent an electrician late Monday afternoon. Jimmy, the electrician, quickly resolved the wiring problem and installed my new lights. He also found a grounding issue that an electrician had missed during an installation several years back. Jimmy was very professional, patient, knowledgeable, and trustworthy. A rep from Highlights also followed up the next day to email a paid invoice. Good electricians are very hard to find, and even harder to hire in a quick, timely manner! Thanks, Highlights.

I found this company on Yelp and I was in a difficult situation were my previous electrician had made a mess of all the wiring in my house and I could not install my kitchen appliances or my lighting, after making an appointment with the Highlight office, the owner showed up at my house the next day with his crew and gave them instructions, they completed all the work correctly, cleaned up afterwards and they were very professional and polite, to the extend that I felt comfortable leaving them alone to go and run errands on the second day they were working on my home.
The owner even came back to check that all was done correctly, something that I have never experienced in my long time as a homeowner and dealing with some of the subcontractors running around this city, this was the single most pleasant and hassle free experience I have ever had period.
They also have very competitive pricing, honest and upfront proposals.
Impressive in today's world.

I had a small job to be done of installing an outlet but had to work through my building managements' complex paper work requirements. This request had a very quick turn around and Highlights Chicago agreed instantly to do it and cooperated through out the painful process of back and forth paper work from the building mgmt. Called one company based in River North for an electrical issue I was having in my condo. Even though my property is in the south loop area, about a 10 min drive from River North, they claimed I was outside their service area. No worries; not the first time that's happened. So I discovered Highlights Chicago and had texted the contact number and quickly received a response from Boz, apparent owner. The next morning at 7:30a, Raul arrive promptly and was able to quickly diagnose my issue. 20 min later, I had two new electrical outlets and a clear understanding as to why I was hearing sparking noises behind the old outlets. Pricing was fair, relatively speaking for qualified electricians these days. The most important thing is I feel at ease knowing an expert did the repair and my place will not be burning down! I have a couple of ad hoc electrical projects that I intend to have done and I'll be sure to give these guys a call.

We needed can lights installed in our living room and called Boz. He came the next day and gave us a quote that was fair and reasonable. He was quick and efficient and set up a time for his guys to come out the following week. The night before they were to come, Boz called and confirmed the time. His guys were on time. They put sheeting up to minimize the dust and did an excellent job installing the lights. We are so happy with how everything turned out! Another contractor who was working on some other things in our house commented that the work was excellent, too. In the process of installing these light fixtures, they noticed that our wiring was really old and advised that we consider replacing it in the future. Boz followed up with us to make sure we were satisfied with the work. If you need electrical work done in your home, you can trust that they will do an excellent job. We will use him again and recommend him to all our friends. An overall excellent experience!

These guys are awesome! I called yesterday, mentioned I have a small job, install one fixture. They had someone at my home 1.5 hours later, same day!! Kamal was awesome, he made it happen and is as professional and kind as anyone I have ever dealt with in the industry. Mike and Malden, they were at my house, ready to work, got the job done, so professional, and informative. If you are looking for electricians, this group is the one to call. Jimmy from Highlights Chicago came to our home to do some work on our 1926 house. Old houses are always a challenge, but Jimmy did a great job of figuring out our problem and finding ways to fix what we needed. He installed new lights and a GFS switch in one bathroom, and removed a switch and light attached to a medicine cabinet. The price was reasonable, and I was very pleased with his work. I will definitely call Highlights Chicago for my next electrical job.

I used Highlights Chicago for several electrical needs in my house: install a new electrical panel, separate appliances on different lines, install a wireless ceiling light switch, and fix an outlet. This is the first time I have ever taken the time to write a review. I always interview 3 companies for a job b4 hiring. I had one higher and one lower than Highlights. The difference is the confidence I had with them for the job, Boz (the boss) explained everything thouroughly and gave me options on what I wanted to do. Boz was very knowledgable and accommodating with my difficult schedule. All the workers were polite, experienced (Jimmy was fantastic) and patient with explanations. The office manager Connie returned calls promptly and remembered all the details in my job. I had alot of work done at different ongoing times, she was alwys up to date and Johnny on the spot. She was fantastic! I can confidently say I would recommend them to anyone!

The electric ceiling heat in our new (to us) condo went out except in one zone. That left three unheated zones with a Chicago Winter approaching rapidly. The ceiling heat specialist told us to forget it; the system was too old and it would be too expensive to repair. He suggested the use of heating/cooling units. I then called in the company that handles the air conditioners in our building - it has a long history of excellent reviews. We were told they could be furnished but electrical work was needed. By then, it was two days before Thanksgiving. My old electrician went out of business so I searched frantically for a new one with good reviews. No one could handle the job until weeks from now. Then I found Highlights - an excellent experience from the first contact. They promised to come out the day after Thanksgiving and they did. They also completed the work in a timely and workmanlike manner. Everyone with whom I came in contact was wonderful. I have found my new electricians!
