Best Electricians in Chicago, IL

We called Howard this afternoon (the day before Thanksgiving) when we lost power in 1/3rd of our house.  Howard discovered that our basement renovation resulted in multiple junction boxes being dry-walled over (a big no-no).  After explaining the problem, he took the time to tediously saw holes and follow the BX cable from the fuse box through the ceiling to find the proper junction box.

All in all, it took 3 hours, but Howard found the problem (a bad connection at the junction box) and fixed it.

Sure, we'll have to fix the drywall, but it couldn't have been fixed otherwise. Furthermore, it will allow us to put in the proper access doors at the junction box locations to prevent it from happening again.

With 18 people coming over for Thanksgiving in 16 hours, it would be no understatement to say that Howard saved our Holiday (and at a reasonable price).

We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Howard to anyone needing work done.

just had north shore electric fix a light switch outlet that wasn't working and looked like a fire hazard. The electrician was very knowledgeable and reasonable for the work he did. 5 stars isn't enough to say how satisfied we are.

Goran arrived on time, identified and addressed the issue while on site, and had the best rates of anyone we found in our service area. Two thumbs up!

I am a huge fan of Small Tyme Electric. I manage a few properties throughout Chicago and I have used them every time i needed anything done. Wether it's some minor updates or a complete remodel. Norh Is an amazing person. Such a pleasure to work with. I always have the worst luck when it comes to contractors so when I find a good one I hold on and don't let go. I'm willing to share with you as I want to keep him working for years to come so he's always there when I need him!

I would not recommend this company for electrical work. Lack of communication, zero follow up and very unprofessional.

I hired Scott Nelson for a simple electrical project. They were knowledgeable and immediately quoted me a price and duration. They knocked it out quickly and without issue. Highly recommended.

A Reliable Electrician

We had a long-standing problem with some puck lights. Michael Gordon from MPG Electric was the third electrician to look at these lights. He was the first one to look into every aspect of the situation. He found several technical problems with the original installation. Why the previous electricians missed the obvious, we'll never know. Michael fixed what he could with the spare parts we had lying around. Then he left with a list of replacement parts he would need to get the job done properly. A week or so later, he returned and put everything in order. For the first time, we have lights that work. I expect that they will continue to work for years in the future.

I was referred to Michael by Crest Lighting, a very reliable source. He is a properly licensed and insured electrician. He arrived on time, despite the difficult parking situation in Lincoln Park. When he finished, we were satisfied to the point that I gave Michael's business card to our property manager. We live in a 40 story high rise. A lot of us need electricians from time to time. I would recommend Michael Gordon to anyone who needs a reliable electrician

(On a personal note, I have to say that it really was a pleasure meeting this man. From the moment he walked through the door, we had a sense that things were going to go well. We were right.)

We had 3 outdoor GFCI that needed to be replaced. We compared quotes from multiple contractors. MJP sounds most reasonable as he agreed to a fixed rate. Once Marcin arrived, we found that one of GFCI outlet is actually having two outlets and that means total of 4. Marcin did not charge extra. In fact, he replaced GFCI covers for free. It felt like Santa gave us a visit a little too early this year. Thanks a lot for your help. We appreciate your help and your honesty and kindness.

First, I am surprised there are not more reviews for this business as they are awesome. I've dealt with lots of contractors, and I am the go to phone call for my entire family and wife's family when there are problems or construction needs in the home. Penco is my first and only phone call for electricians, and I have dealt with lots before.

They are super courteous, on time, in communication, competitive on their pricing, and capable of all levels of work. I have had small issues from fixture installs, to the build out of my dad's basement, to fixing a wiring mess at a bar I managed.

I've referred Penco to many people all of whom have taken the time to thank me for the referral. They are making me look like a rockstar. I encourage you to give them a call for anything electrical. Paul the owner is the type of businessman that people need to know about.

Chris of thegoodguys does what is needed to be done even though it may be less work than what he could charge for.  That built a lot of trust.  They did some painting, caulking and minor wood repair for us. All work was done well - they were friendly and professional to deal with which just makes the process that much easier.

This guy took really good care of an outlet in my kitchen - very professional and informational.

We made an appointment for an estimate and nobody showed up. I called and only received voicemail and nobody returned my calls. Based upon other more positive reviews, I was disappointed in the unprofessional treatment.

I contacted Mr. Mighty to do some electrical work in a older 2-flat.  There were 2-outlets, and 3 light fixtures that had slowing been burning out over the course  of 7 years and it was time to get it all fixed.
Calling in and reserving an appt. was really easily.  The staff was friendly and it was easy to set up the appt.  The electrician showed up about 20-min late, but not too bad.    He was extremely nice, tidy and wore booties in our house.  He explained all the work he was doing before starting work.   We had initially reserved a 2-hour time-slot, so unfortunately all the work couldn't be completed in the first visit.  A 2nd appt. was set up with the electrician for the following day.  He showed up on-time for the 2nd appt, and finished the work.
Generally I am pretty happy with the service.  My only ding for not giving 5-stars is that the rates were pretty high.  The work isn't exactly serviced hourly and it's a bit hard to determine why certain tasks are charged the way they are.  But for solid work, a tidy work ethic, and easy of setting appointment, Mr. Might it a solid option.

Immediate, no-nonsense service. I didn't even leave a message--Ken called me back just because his phone showed that someone had called. An hour later, he was at my house diagnosing my problem. Will definitely use again.

I couldn't be happier with the service provided by this company. Tom was incredibly responsive and had his team on the job the same day I contacted them...a real blessing after all the problems I have had with my contractor. They did an exceptional job and were a joy to have in my home...even my cat loved them! They were professional, conscientious, knowledgeable, and highly skilled. I will definitely have them back and I would recommend them to anyone.
