Best Electricians in Chicago, IL

Howard Simons is brilliant - not to mention very kind. I had been told by 2 other electricians that my outdoor light fixtures needed to be completely replaced - that the wiring was burnt out and useless. I put off replacing them for a few months and in the meantime, other electrical issues arose throughout my house (bathroom outlets and outdoor outlets). Based on all the excellent Yelp reviews, I thought I would give Howard a try -- thank goodness I did. He showed up on time and worked for several hours. I kept popping my head outside thinking he must need something, but all I saw was Howard going in and out of his truck completely immersed in his work. He not only fixed what I had been told was impossible, he saved me both my time and money by not having to replace light fixtures that he was able to repair! His work did not stop there...he stayed to answer all my questions on exactly what was done, and explained how he fixed things. Howard Simons clearly knows his stuff, enjoys his work and is simply a very nice man! Thank you Howard!

This is the 3rd time we've used them, and as always, we have no complaints.  

They arrived when they said they would and did good work. The electrician who showed up was courteous and friendly.

I am a 1st time building owner .. I don't know any electricians so I looked on yelp.. I came across great reviews for Norh at Small Tyme Electric.. I had a serious electrical problem at the building where the live wires from the building were hanging extremely low but Comed refused to fix the problem .. I called NOrh and he was able to come out the very next day on my schedule even thought it was raining! I hung out with Norh the whole time he worked... It turns out whoever did electrical work to building did not support the electrical correctly to the wall causing the wires to slip and hang .. Norh was a very pleasant person to talk to and he completed the job in a sufficient amount of time ! I will be using Norh for all my future electrical needs :)

Frank maintained a clear line of communication via phone calls and texts throughout the estimation and scheduling process. I found him to be polite, professional, and competent. I had him install a new outlet for an over the range microwave and had him swap out an old two prong outlet with a 3 prong. Great honest service from someone who is dedicated and hard working - not easy to find these days.

Scott was the most courteous and decent person. He was only a few minutes late and so apologetic. Who does that? You can tell he has done this a long time, he knows everything. His prices were good and I cannot say enough good things about his team. They spent a couple of days on completing the tasks because we had a bunch of projects to do, Eric and the other guys were knowledgeable, courteous and so efficient. Cleaned after they were done and left everything perfect. I cannot recommend Scott and his team enough! Thank you!

Mike Gordon of MPG Electric did an outstanding job replacing under cabinet lighting as well as hanging a fixture that I hesitated to buy due to review after review saying how hard it was for their person to hang. I liked the looks of it and decided to take the chance despite the reviews. He had absolutely no trouble because he really knows what he is doing. In addition, he generously offers his time to answer questions as well as help with purchasing. His patience is extraordinary.

Our previous electrician left us with dimmers that didn't work for years. Mike knew exactly what to use and they work fine for the first time since we lived in this home. He is honest and charges fairly. We intended to add a dimmer to our kitchen fixture but then we weren't sure if it was needed. He was fine with letting us check it out at night, where we could judge better, and get back to him. He offered to come back and not charge the initial first hour charge or return it depending on our decision. He really cares about his customers! We highly recommend him!

So glad I found Marcin. He has been my go- to electrician for many years now. He is prompt in responding to  requests for various electrical work at my home.  Always on time for appointments  and even contacts me if he will be able arrive earlier than our scheduled time.  Great work at reasonable prices.  Neat, clean never leaves anything for me to clean up when the job is done. Very knowledgeable and takes time to explain how he will be doing the job.  
I have referred Marcin to my daughter and son-in-law and also a couple of my friends. They were glad I did!
All that said, I will continue to use him any time I need electrical work done at my home.  Keep up the great work Marcin! You're #1 in my book.

OK  Let me start by saying I live in Los Angeles.  My mother in law is in Glenview, Il and was having some issues with some of her power intermittently going out and then she would have my brother in law come over and reset the breaker.  I am pretty knowledgeable about home electric so I called around to get some estimates for her.  I ended up speaking with Paul.  They weren't the cheapest but they weren't the most expensive either.  He didn't know my level of knowledge (I have wired multiple homes here and in Mexico) but he didn't try to BS me at all.  He was straight forward on pricing and work.  
Anyway, they sent a tech out to my mother in laws and diagnosed a flaky breaker within the first ten minutes.  I had asked for a call when they figured it out and Paul called me to tell me what the issue was. Since they had only been there about 15 minutes and there is a minimum billing time I figured I'd ask if the tech could install a dimmer for her dinning room table while he was there.  The had a dimmer switch in the truck and installed it and only charged for the part.
Maybe this is the norm for Chicago but we don't get that level of integrity her in CA.  I'm glad to know I have someone I can call for issue at my mother in laws house.
 I wish I knew the techs name as my Mother in law said he was really nice (she is 89)  but I never got it.

I've worked with Chris and His brother Jamie for years (The Good Guys Handyman)and they have never let me down. Their communication and work have been exceptional in my opinion they are real pros.  They've given me great advice that I can rely on. I would highly recommend these guys to anyone that is looking for piece of mind in a handyman.

Highly recommend this company. I had a faulty circuit breaker leave us without power to our coffee bar and bathroom. They were out early the next morning to fix it and also switched out a faulty GFI outlet. They knew what they were doing, were prompt and professional. I'm so glad my home warranty referred me to them. Will definitely call out again for any electrical problems I need fixed.

Sam came to my home to add a 220 line for a hot tub I had installed.  the work was impeccable and he took the time to explain things, did my special requests, and even came back to hook up the hot tub after they delivered it as part of my job. he is very reasonable and quick to respond.

Consumers beware. Overcharging senior citizens and ripping them off. Was hired to fix one switch. One. Charged almost $300 just for diagnosing? That didn't even include fixing what he was hired to do

There are definitely reputable electricians in the area. If you're reading this please look for another company

My original review was one star due to Some real garbage work and high pricing that one of their new workers did. Kenneth refunded some of the money but it took many months of arguing which I didn't deserve because his workers didn't have proper tools or work ethic to complete the job.

Very fair pricing and prompt, efficient service.  The owner, Tom Peck, is great to deal with.  He does a great job in a fast and efficient manner.
