About me I was born and raised in a small town in Michigan called Sault Ste, Marie. I had my first experience with electrical work at the age of twelve. My parents were building a new home and the electrician they hired only had one arm (not a joke) the first day he arrived onsite my father introduced us to each other and told me that I would complete the electrical work in the new home under his supervision, and I did. I served three years in the Army and then moved to Chicago to find work, I've been here for 28 years

Ted and his team we're very professional throughout our whole process. We were getting an electric fireplace installed and needed to move a conduit. Ted was great to work with! I highly recommend Honey Do Home Electrical!

He came over and assessed our work request and provided us a quote via text later that week.

We scheduled our work dates (3 day job) and Ted was there everyday at 9am just as he had committed. When he was in the house he was clean, quiet and respectful. Work was broken up between morning, left for lunch, then came back to finish up for the day. On the 3rd day the job was done and we squared up our invoice, discussed some future upgrades to the outside and the garage and he was off.

Overall Ted and his son were great and the quality of work was great. I look forward to Honey Do Home Electric coming back to working on the outside and the garage.

Response prompt. I took a chance as I had not used this handyman before but I needed my yard light post fixture repaired. My appointment was for 930, I left the fixture between my storm door and house door just in case i didn't get back in time from dropping off my kids to school. I literally made it back home at about 940 and the post fixture was already repaired and Ted and his son were waiting in the van. I was impressed! I would use this company again for sure

Ted and Tom gave a reasonable estimate based on the scope of work I provided (outlets not working after a DIY mishap). They were able to quickly make the repair and explain the problems found. They also addressed a separate grounding/shared circuit issue they found. The additional charges for the increase in scope/time was very reasonable.

Would recommend them if you have residential electrical wiring issues.

Ted and his son were great! Ted was very responsive in getting me a quote and setting up an appointment time. He confirmed with me the day of, and showed up on time. He installed light fixtures and changed a switch for me. Pointed something out that would have been a huge mistake on my part as to the type of lighting fixture that I had purchased. Very friendly guys, I will not hesitate in contacting them again in the future for any electrical work.

He texted me right away and we set up an appointment, a week out. On the day of the appointment he didn't respond to my text asking him to confirm that he would be here and that he would be wearing a mask. He didn't text or call to confirm or cancel, and he didn't show up. Very disappointed.

Ted (and son Tom) showed up very punctual, a rarity for any contractor apparently, to their scheduled time. The immediately laid down drop cloths, surveyed what they would need to bring into the home and got to work. They added two outlets in two separate rooms and did so very neatly and professionally. Pricing was a bit higher than I expected but nevertheless they did a professional job and even had to run to HD twice for materials needed as my home gave them extra work to do. All in all I'd recommend. Both wore masks the whole time.

I had purchased a wireless door bell that wasn't compatible but try they did to get it right, they will be kindly coming back to put in my new purchase. Thoroughly knowledgeable and dependable. I live a an 80 year old house with a mix of 80 year old wiring and some newer wiring. Had a switch blow, found the problem, fixed, didn't overcharge and out of our hair in a couple hours. Definitely recommend Ted from Honey Do.

Ted did a wonderful job installing my new ceiling fan. I had purchased it on Amazon and had a HORRIBLE experience with the person they sent to install it. After that fell through, I reached out to Ted.

Ted arrived right on time and got to work right away. He finished the install sooner than expected and was very professional the whole time he was here. Very knowledgable and efficient in his work.

I'll definitely use his services if I need any more electrical work, and would strongly recommend you do as well.

Ted is absolutely fantastic!! Got back to me same day, arrived when he said he would (same day), Completed 3 different small jobs within an hour, offered me tips/advice
for safety and efficiency, and was very reasonably priced.

This company was one of the few that responded to my inquiries, and kept up a dialog when I asked questions via email. I chose him because his price was reasonable and there were no hidden or extra charges. Ted and his son showed up right on time, actually a little early, which was great!Since I wasn't sure what the problem was, they came well equipped to do the job. It was a faulty fixture and he had it replaced in less than half an hour. Both he and his son were very polite and I appreciated that they wore masks while in the house. I Highly recommend them!! Ted promptly replied to my estimate request and we were able to set up time a few days after. We had problems replacing a new outlet due to old wiring. Ted provided the estimate and that the job would take an hour which was accurate. He also kept us informed when he was running a bit behind due to traffic. Much appreciated since other contractors aren't always like this. He did a great job replacing the outlet, provided recommendations for the old wiring system, and even let us know the value in switching to LED bulbs.I highly recommend using Ted for electrical work. I know we will call him for future jobs!

Ted confirmed a day for inspection, but on the day he couldn't promise a time or even confirm if he was going to make it, which burned a lot of my time. He did eventually show, but his inspection took 60 minutes when other electricians inspected in 15. Once finished with the inspection he assured me an estimate. After 3 days I asked when I should expect an estimate and he responded with I'm going to give you a no quote because I'm slammed until October, which completely contradicted what he'd said in person.

I can not say enough in praise! Ted and his son came on time and installed 4 fixtures and 3 dimers for me. He even redid a fixture I had tried to install - poorly. They cleaned up and took everything away...old fixtures, packing materials - everything, you could not tell they had been there. I am calling them back before the painters come and have them go to work on replacing all the switches and outlets! Call Ted NOW!

Had a great experience with Ted wiring and installing two new ceiling fans. We needed to install the fans in rooms which did not have an electrical box in the ceiling. Ted came fully prepared on time and got the job done. Ted explained what he was going to do and made it happen. Will definitely call again when the next project comes around.

I was a little mystified and over my head rewiring some outlets in my condo rehab; one light circuit kept tripping a breaker. Based on these great Yelp reviews, I called Ted, and couldn't be more pleased with his service. He was at my door in Wheaton literally within an hour, and on short notice. I had Ted out to my house in La Grange Park to troubleshoot a couple of outlets that had stopped working. I am somewhat technical myself, and was able to diagnose the problem, but not locate it. That's when I texted Ted. Yes, you can text him directly. I don't know about you, but I thought that was a great feature; very convenient! So anyway, Ted came out on Monday (I'd originally reached out to him on a Sunday, and while he doesn't do Sunday housecalls (totally understandable) he DID respond to me on Sunday right away, and we set up a time for the next day. He arrived on time, and I had told him what I had done to investigate (I'd determined that it was a broken neutral somewhere in the conduit feeding these two kitchen outlets, but I couldn't find the break). He was patient and helpful as I was explaining all of this, and agreed with my assessment. Since I was curious, I watched him while he worked, and he explained what he was doing the whole time, because he knew I was interested. While we were discussing this, we also talked about some other improvements that we could make to the electrical at my house (balancing circuits between the two hot feeds coming into my house, and stuck around while I played with different pieces of equipment (I have a lot of computers ;p ) to see how we could save on my power bills. After we did that, I noticed that my power bills have decreased by about 10%! He also was willing to stick around and install an motion-sensing light switch that I had been unable to get to work properly. All of this extra stuff was not discussed ahead of time, but he was willing to take the extra time to help me out. I have found my electrician for all my future needs. Ted is great, you should call (or text!) him today!
