Mike Hickey came to my parent's home during a colder than normal period when every other plumber in the area was booked. Our older steam furnace was leaking and Mike explained how to stop the leak until he could arrive. He quickly fixed the problem and charged a very reasonable fee. We talked while he was fixing the furnace and he was very knowledgeable and experienced in plumbing and heating systems as well as being pleasant.

They are always professional, on time and know what they are doing. We had a problem one summer weekend and a guy named Steadman, presumably the owner (not Oprah's boyfriend) came over fixed it himself. It seems increasingly rare to receive that level of service these days. Keep up the good work.

Ray arrived early (wow!), did the needed work quickly, and got it inspected just as fast - with no problems whatsoever.
Two comments: Ray may charge a few dollars more than some other plumbers, but in the professional trades, I've always believed that you get what you pay for. Being cheap just doesn't pay in the long run.
The other comment is to be VERY wary of any plumber that doesn't list his/her license. By law, a plumber's license type and number must be shown on any sign, listing, or advertisement. If he/she doesn't list it, they're probably not licensed, and you could run into insurance problems if there's ever the need for a claim.

Joseph G Perry is run by Gary in the Main office that commands a handful of young talented plumbers. They replaced a Shower, Bath Faucet and Drain System within 10 days of my initial call. Their plumbers that come onsite are friendly, prompt, professional and talented. Carpentry work was needed on my job and they did a bang up job there. The only gripes I have is their main office does not return your calls. I had to pester them and leave 2 messages and reply via email to get them to call me back. They did go way over budget on the initial estimate, but it was fair because the job was a bear to do and involved carpentry. I usually do my own plumbing but this was too big of a job for me. They sent Ethan and Elliot, 2 talented plumbers/carpenters to do the 6 man hour job They are expensive, but good talent is hard to find these days especially old school plumbing which is taught by Gary and was requested and done here. Perry is a good 7am-5pm M-F plumber, but I don't think they will respond to an after hours call in a emergency. I think they really hand pick their jobs. I would call them back to do another job definitely. We will see if they respond to my next job when I call ?

Best customer service you could ever expect. Paula ( front desk) was so kind and helpful. Walked me through my choices. Michael joined forces and helped me with my final decision. They were both patient and resourceful. The end result was incredible. This is where you want to go for your fireplace.

Can't recommend this company enough. Got a call 11pm Saturday night from my renters saying the hot water heater went. Scrambling because of the time and it being a holiday weekend I reached out to a few companies on here and got a response from Ryan very quickly.
Set up appointment for next day. He showed up early and the new water heater was installed by lunch time.
Great work. Highly recommend this company.

I, and our condo association (6 Units), have been using Alewife for years and we've always been happy with them. (And I've said as much when they called later for a phone survey)
But they've likely just lost me as a customer in one fell swoop.
We had to get our hot water tank replaced. I called and spoke to a very nice woman (Cheryl?) who quoted us a price based on our tank being under warranty (which she confirmed via phone after I read her the serial number off the tank).
Later that day she called back and said that she was sorry, but she was mistaken - the tank wasn't under warranty after all. But she'd adhere to the quoted price even though she'd have to use a stock tank. We agreed, scheduled an install and I thanked her.
Days go by and the morning of the scheduled installation I get a call from someone else at the office saying that they need the warranty information to get the quoted price. I explained my conversation and he responded, I can't honor that price.
He dropped the price a bit, but it was still almost two hundred dollars over what was quoted. I had already planed on being home for the day for the install, talked with the other members of the building about the details of getting the tank replaced and started to collect the reimbursement.
I was in a bind and had them do the work because if not we'd have to start all over again and it had already been weeks w/o hot water for the laundry.
They've always been really nice on the phone and the plumbers who come out to the house, which is why I gave them two stars instead of one.
But now I know I can't trust quoted prices from them and know that they don't review these things until the last minute, leaving the customer in a what do we do now? situation. I felt screwed.
That few hundred bucks to them just cost them my business and potentially the other 5 units in my building.
I don't think Alewife is malicious or scamming people out of money - I think they just did the wrong thing when it came to taking care of their customers.
I'm planning on going to Banner Pipe next time. I met the owner at a business meeting in Somerville and he seemed really nice and very customer focused.

We had a great experience with David at Calzini's Plumbing. Very professional and quoted us quickly. Was at our residence within 2 days of receiving quote. Work was clean and professional. Very happy with our new water heater. Great plumber and organization all around!

Unfortunately, I can't review based on service as the when I spoke to Paul he hung up on me. This is my first time needing a plumber so I mentioned what the job is and asked what the process is- is there a quote, based on description does he have an idea of cost, how does it work- turns out he wouldn't give a quote for that job and wouldn't take the job because its not worth it, call someone else and hung up...maybe a reference of a colleague that does smaller jobs, or a recommendation of what might need to be looked at considering it clearly isn't worthy of a plumber, maybe even, thanks for calling or goodbye would be satisfactory, but hanging up on me mid question, not impressed.

100% positive review for Rich Mathews & Son plumbing.
My gas heater was blowing air non-stop regardless of the temperature. Rich methodically checked everything that could be causing the problem. He also patiently explained what he was looking for with each diagnostic. It turned out to be the wiring from the thermostat to the heater. Another company had ruled out a thermostat problem. Rich fixed the issue quickly.
Other positives...Rich ALWAYS returned my calls! He was heavily scheduled and since my issue wasn't an emergency in the warmer weather, we agreed he would come by as soon as he had a break in the schedule. Another job couldn't be done in the rain so Rich called and said he could come by within an hour. After the problem was fixed, Rich called the next day to follow up and make sure everything was still working as expected. Amazing customer service!

I called bulldog about an issue I was having with my current boiler. He returned my phone call within 30 minutes and made an appointment for the next day and showed up exactly when he said he would. Jim came out and advised me I needed a new boiler. He spent an hour on the phone with the boiler manufacturer And was able to get the old one covered under warranty. He Installed the new one 2 days later. Came in and worked a full day and cleaned up all the old materials and trash. He alsos told me about a rebate from MassSave so the boiler cost me next to nothing. Definitely recommend him! Thanks for the great service.

Not the ones to call in an emergency. Only three people (all plumbers) work for the company and all calls go to the answering machine to be checked whenever they get a chance. No cell phone or emergency number is available.

Had my boiler fail this past weekend and lost my hot water. White's was at the top of the list for manufacturer recommendations. Called and left a voicemail, no response. Called 5 times Monday, no answer and still not return call from my message. Don't hold your breath with these people!

Woke up to a busted water heater. They were at my home in 10 minutes & diagnosed the problem quickly. Water heater replaced under warranty with 4 years left on the new one. Extremely professional & cleaned up water. A pleasure to deal with. Great guys.

Called yesterday at 6PM to have someone come take a look at a gas leak on my hot water heater. They set up a time for someone to come out this morning between 10-12PM. I got a very knowledgeable plumber who was up front with me about what *might* be required to fix the problem; however, he did a quick bubble test to figure out where the leaks. Turns out that all that was needed was to apply some joint compound to one of my gas connections to stop the leak.
Everything was fixed up in less than an hour. The plumber (I'm horrible at names...sorry!) made sure to answer all of my questions I had. The best part is that they only charged me $29.95 (their fee for an estimate) and I only had to endure one cold shower!
Definitely would use Boston Standard again.

Horrible experience...or should I say, lack of experience with this company. I called at 9:30am for service and explained my issue including the make and model of my wall mount that was not producing hot water. They stated that I would receive a call back for service today. I did not call another provider because I was told they would provide service today. I called again at 11:30 because I had not received a call from a service provider. I called again at 12:30, still no call back. I called again at 2:15 after waiting by my phone all day. I asked to speak to a manager. An answering service called me and asked if this was a call about an air conditioning unit. (I never reported an issue with air conditioning.) I told them it was about a hot water heater. I then received a call from someone in the office telling me that the owner likely doesn't have service because he is in New Hampshire and they do not service water heaters. Everyone was perfectly nice but this is an extremely inefficient, frustrating and unprofessional way to run a business. I waited all day for a call and service to be told that they do not provide this service. Called another company after my final call with Waldman. They were able to honestly share that it may be hard for them to find a service provider but they spoke with me within 10 minutes of my original call. I would never use or recommend Waldman to anyone.

I had the hot water heater replaced, and the boiler serviced. Tom, the plumber, showed up on time and was very professional. It could not have gone any better. I highly recommend this company.

Nine days without heat or hot water in December. We were slotted for a quick install of the part today, 1-4PM. No one came or called. We paid for this part nine days ago. I had to speak to a manager yesterday because we were not getting any answers on an arrival time. All this after a week of getting the run around. On day two, they had us looking for a serial number for the part. We couldn't find it to which they replied, don't worry about it, it's been ordered. Honestly, I dislike posting bad reviews but after they didn't show today I have had enough. Very unreliable. It's no joke being without heat and hot water in December especially with kids. They were very 'diligent' in charging my card for the part though.
