I had a complicated project, installing whole house AC and heat, including both min splits and a heat pump system in the attic, in a 125 year old house with no ductwork. I had 8 quotes and choose Rodenhiser. I felt Matt really listened to what was important to me in meeting my needs and also what my budget was. I got a very detailed and comprehensive plan, including a Manual J, and I am very happy they help take care of the rebates I'll get as well. Work completed today and I am extremely pleased with my experience. The lead installer, Rob and crew, were excellent. Excellent communication, hard working (never on their phone), arrived on time or early, volunteered to work Saturday to keep the project on time and very professional. Can't say I have any suggestions for improvement. Highly recommend!

My HVAC stopped cooling this week.  I contacted Rodenhiser who installed the unit in my house 3 years ago.  The original installation had a few bumps but it all worked out ok.

We scheduled a technician appointment with a live Rodenhizer person.  They called back a day later to cancel the appointment because they no longer service my area (Boston).

They referred me to another local vendor, but that vendor doesn't accept systems less than 5 years old.

I would recommend finding a vendor who stands behind their work AND their customers.

One of the worst HVAC companies out there.

1) They moved to comission basis so their techs are trying to maximixe the amount you have to spend for each service. The more they do the more they get paid.

2) They are the most expensive service companies out there.

3) There techs are hit or miss. Some or good some are bad.

4) When they did a A/C service for us they missed changing the a/c air filter which caused a motor to burn out and a lot of smoke. There was so much smoke we had to call the fire department

5) They charged $931 to replace an electical valve that cost no more than $200 part and one hour to install.

6) Several times after they installed a new tankless system for us they had to come back to fix becouse they installed it wrong. It took weeks to get it running right. They have since charged about 4 thousand to keep it running over 6 years.

7) I have had them come out to service our working heater in the middle of winter to leave us with no heat for three days.

We have been more than patient with them. Using them for some 5 years we have given up on them. It was hard to find someone good but we have finally done that and I am so happy we did. We have found a really good HVAC company that cost literally 1/2 to 1/3 what Rodenhieser costs for the exact same thing. For instance to replace a ignitor costs $550 with Rodenhiser and $245 with a smaller local company. I am so glad that we can finally say goodbye to Rodenhieser. Do yourself a favor dont ever call them.

Two years after we moved and cancelled our service, they charged us for the new owner's service.   We are still waiting for the refund for this. This refund should have been expedited but they haven't done that.  This is not good customer service!

Rodenhiser installed an AC system in our house for $11,225.  Shortly after that, the system completely failed.  Rodenhiser came to our house & said there was a chemical reaction between the copper piping & insulation they had installed, causing many pinhole leaks that caused the refrigerant to leak out.  They then admitted that they KNEW this problem had existed with this piping 2 YEARS BEFORE they installed it in our house, and that this manufacturing problem had almost bankrupted them.  They now want $5,600 to FIX A PROBLEM THEY ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR, but say they just can't afford to make it right with any more customers.  Unbelievable, dishonest, fraudulent, criminal.  NEVER USE RODENHISER, THEY ARE CROOKS.

We recently got multiple quotes for a complete replacement of our 21 yr old Heating and Cooling system (Air Handlers, and A/C units).  We picked Rodenhiser b/c Ross Picket (our sales rep) was proactive with helping us file for the Mass Rebates that we were eligible for and he did all the paper work for us to get these rebate forms submitted.  They also offered the best quality equipment (Bosch) units at the best price relative to the other quotes.

Nick and the team that they sent out to do all the work (replacing 3 outdoor condenser and replacing with condenser/heat-pumps and 3 indoor air handlers in three distinct locations incl. garage, basement, attic) was polite, courteous, prompt and on-time each day.  They worked their buts off and rarely ever took a break.

Believe me when I say this was a lot of work and I was very glad I wasn't doing it, especially in the heat that we experienced through much of August.

At the end Nick and his team walked us through everything that was done, how to program the new Honeywell thermostats (Nest thermostats were not compatible because we only had 5 wire thermostat cables and they needed 6),  and everything was cleaned up and working before they left after 5 full days.

Rodenhiser also has great technology with proactive messaging alerts that let us know they were on their way and when to expect them, and their customer service people are great to work with.

Thanks you Ross, Nick and the rest of the Rodenhiser team!  You won a customer for life!

Do NOT use this company under any circumstance. We had mini splits installed. They were installed incorrectly they acknowledged this came back and replaced a part. Since this they have stopped working 3 times requiring service calls. One guy told us they stopped working because they were in direct sunlight. Mind you they stopped working overnight when there is no sunlight. Further, one of the mini splits fell off the wall. When the company came out they said their mistake they used the wrong wall brackets to hang the mini splits. Mind you we have children and these are in our daughters bedroom. Very easily could have fallen on her. We have had other contractors come our home for other reasons and they have said they responded to calls to fix Rodenhiser  mistakes because they are very sloppy. Be warned!!!

Rodenhiser replaced my old 5 zone gas boiler home heat system  and old water heater with a new high efficiency combi- boiler quickly, totally correct and a complete job. Their prompt response and technical advise presale was spot on. Their price was good . They preassemble parts at their factory where they could insure quality and make on-site work a bit easier. this complex swap in 2 days.  Their on site crew were outstanding! Further, they indeed handled all details including removal, hooking up temporary hot water for the evening. There were no shortcuts, no change requests,no excuses. The end result is a good looking job and my basement sure is nicer. The mass save paperwork to get a credit back was handled by Rodenhiser.
If you are reading this far, for a major home replacement project, use these guys, not your local plumber contractor.

Every time we've called Rodenhiser, for plumbing or heating issues, they've tried to up-sell us. Seldom fixed the problem, but always tried to convince us we needed some very expensive new system. Very frustrated with cost of services and the lack of results. Second to last time they came out, I asked them to fix the sink trap in a sink I had installed - the sink trap isn't even assembled correctly - doesn't even work.
Save yourselves time and frustration - and money. Don't call them.

Nine days without heat or hot water in December. We were slotted for a quick install of the part today, 1-4PM. No one came or called. We paid for this part nine days ago. I had to speak to a manager yesterday because we were not getting any answers on an arrival time. All this after a week of getting the run around. On day two, they had us looking for a serial number for the part. We couldn't find it to which they replied, don't worry about it, it's been ordered. Honestly, I dislike posting bad reviews but after they didn't show today I have had enough. Very unreliable. It's no joke being without heat and hot water in December especially with kids. They were very 'diligent' in charging my card for the part though.

We just had our brand new heating system put into our house to replace an aging one. From the beginning we had knowledgeable courteous people come and work with us throughout the whole process. Russ who did our estimate, and then Brian , Peter and  their crew who did the install everyone was very professional very knowledgeable and we couldn't be happier with our new system

My elderly parents called about a clog in the upstairs bathroom. The plumber from Rodenhiser showed up and fixed the problem in probably less than a half an hour then he spent an hour in his truck writing up the invoice which was in excess of $900. It seems like they got taken advantage of here. I urged them to use a a smaller company going forward that doesn't have all the marketing overhead that Rodenhiser has. They seem to be all about the bottom line and less about customer service and satisfaction.

Rodenhiser sold us on a unit that costs well over 10K.  It went down and they left us hanging.  They also screwed up the zones.  Turn the heat on downstairs, the upstairs went on.  Their premium service in which they charge premium plus amounts is not what they say it is.

Came exactly on time. This was an emergency , pvc water pipe cracked around water filters. The plumbers were friendly, gave me 6 options at varying costs. Also explained each with pros and cons. Finished the job quickly. Replaced pvc with copper and was mich morr secure than before. Costs range from &1200 to $3000. No hard sell just clear explanation.

Unreliable to the point that I consider them scammers.

A power surge damaged my furnace and I had Rodenhiser come out to fix it. They had the hardest time figuring out what it was, and after replacing several circuit boards it worked again. They recommended to install a surge protector, which I had them do. This surge protector would protect against surges and in the case that a power surge would cause damage, I would be covered.
A year or two later (bad)luck had it that my furnace got damages to another power surge and I had Rodenhiser come out. This time, they first upsold me a maintenance contract, which I took. They also replaced the damages circuit boards, which should be covered by the surge protector they installed, and which came with insurance. I still was forced to pay somewhere around $2400, because this particular issue was not covered.
The surge protector they had installed before was not the right one, so they recommended different one. I did have this done, because I didn't want the trouble of being without heat again. I do feel very much cheated out of money because they didn't cover what they promised it would.

As for the maintenance plan, I paid for the first year and only a few months later I received an email where they asked to renew my contract as my current one had expired - we're talking after 4 months or so.

Rodenhiser makes promises, and guarantees but don't deliver.

Either the best or worst $69 for an ESTIMATE I've ever spent.

Pro:  I learned a valuable life lesson: get more than one quote when you need to get a water heater (or, presumably, anything that is a fairly common plumbing type commodity service).

Con:  I'm out $69

The bottom line: Rodenheiser wanted to charge me $2300 for the exact same water heater installation that a local competitor just charged $700.  That is some AMBITIOUS pricing right there.  I wouldn't be surprised if a good chunk of their revenue comes from providing $69 15 minute estimates, and then moving on to the next home that frantically needs help when a water pipe bursts.

These guys wanted to charge me $16,000 to replace my furnace. I had another local company come in and do a fantastic job for only $9,000. This place is grotesquely expensive and a couple of phone calls can save you THOUSANDS over what these crooks charge. Do yourself a favor and take your business elsewhere.

Beware of this company - they are a complete rip-off, overpriced (like 4x overpriced) and I'm shocked that anyone will do business with them.
Today, we were desperate for a plumber to come out in the middle of a snow storm because our hot water heater was leaking everywhere. After calling numerous independent plumbers and finding that none had last minute availability, we resorted to calling Rodenhiser. They were able to come out same day, which we were thankful for. Upon arrival and inspection, we were told what we already knew - our water heater was leaking.
Immediately, the guy started upselling us, saying that our furnace needs to be replaced (it's old, but still works great - if it ain't broke, don't fix it, right?) and that the PSI coming into the house was way too high and we need a pressure reducer to avoid a pipe bursting and being catastrophic.
While the guy was preparing our quote outside, I made a quick call to our town's water department who told me that the PSI in our town on average was on the high side in most households, but it does not warrant spending $788 on a valve to reduce it. Also, my husband told him that we were not going to replace a furnace that was in perfect working order. When he returned, he quoted us two options for water heater replacement - one over $5k and the other over $4k (2500 on the water heater alone - something I can buy at Lowes myself for under $500). This is something that I KNOW should not cost more than around $1200 to replace. When my husband told him no thank you, he then told us we owed a $69 trip fee. This is the first time I've EVER been charged for a quote.
The business this place is running is an absolute joke. Lesson learned - and hopefully we can help someone else learn from our mistake. Don't ever be so desperate that you call Rodenhiser.

We had a new gas heater and tankless water dispenser installed. Ross helped us get a MassSave loan, expediting the process so we didn't have to wait. The full team worked consistently and professionally throughout and left the place looking good, too. The price was a little higher than some, but the reason was evidenced in the work itself.

I had them scheduled for a A/C maintenance check on my unit, scheduled it months in advance took the day off from work, last minute the said they couldn't make it, they were having a problem somewhere else, really not my problem. I called them and told them I wasn't happy and that was that, great customer service. Nice they keep advertising to want your business but sadly they can't back it up. Please stay away, all the 5 star reviews must be friends and family.

My husband and I just had mini splits installed in our new home. The entire process took about 2.5 days and it couldn't have been a smoother experience. The entire team we worked with were incredibly prompt, professional and friendly. They were incredibly communicative in checking in with us along the way, fielding questions, and alerting us as to what we could expect next.

Given the global pandemic we're in, they also took many an extra step to maintain a safe social distance and protect themselves with masks, gloves, and shoe covers

I would highly recommend for service, quality, and a friendly team.

Qualifier: I had my electrical done with them a couple of years ago, spent 5k and service plan with them. Did a good job, good value for the job they performed. However, I set up a furnace appointment for a burned out blower motor to be replaced.  Also, belt way frayed as I explained online in chat and over the phone and even though they were booked a week ago due to having a limited number of certified oil furnace technicians they were a complete no show. My appointment was for the morning (my 3 hour window). After about two hours of waiting I called and they said the technician was finishing up a job and happened to be in the same town as me (yes, I fell for that).

So the qualifiers are electrical totally fine, plumbing I don't know but HVAC look somewhere else. They wasted my whole day when I could have been doing something, you know, useful like working. Amazes me companies where people want to give them money and they screw it up. But I'm not trying my luck for plumbing on them.

I would choose no star because they are not even Not good.

6 months later I am still waiting for this project to be finished. Initial work order is dated 8/19/2020 and my latest request is on 1/4/2021, The problems began with no contact information on the invoice, and went downhill from there. It took repeated calls to find out when they were to come to do the work. After coming to review the work requested, a 2 month delay was due to waiting for shower doors. When the doors came, they were for a tub, not a shower. The plumber did not order the correct doors, which he didn't realize until the tub was removed and the shower components were installed. He should have known the difference between a tub and shower door!

The shower was installed but was left with duct tape all around the edges since it did not fit flush with the walls. The shower came in 4 pieces, three side walls and a floor. There are gaps where the side walls should fit together so water may be leaking into the wall and subfloor. This was a temporary measure (in November, it is now January) so I could use the shower while waiting for the correct shower doors. I requested a service manager to come look at the work done because the gaps in the walls could be leaking. He came and agreed there was a problem with the installation so far and promised to fix it to my satisfaction. That was a month ago. Service appointments that were scheduled were postponed. It is now January and I still have duct tape holding my shower to the walls and no doors.

One of the other issues I have had with this company is communication. They did not return calls at the start of the project, I had no idea why I was waiting for months to get the project done - they were waiting for the doors to come in. It would have been helpful if I was told that. Communication has not improved. I have been waiting through the holidays for a date for service, only received postponements. My final call was today, requesting/demanding service that should have been completed months ago, and done correctly the first time.

I would not hire these people again for anything.

DO NOT USE! - BUNCH OF CROOKS.
The tech who came to our house sabotaged our AC on the hottest day of the year.  I had them come out just to check the system and do preventive maintenance.  Even though it was working when the tech arrived, he told me that I needed at least $1000 of repairs and maybe even a whole new system.  After the tech left, it stopped working.  When I called them to ask for follow up, they just told me This is expected and to wait for parts.  They didn't even offer to have someone come back.
We ended up calling someone else who just replaced the refrigerant that Rodenhiser removed from our system and now all is fine.
I suspect they deliberately removed the refrigerant to create a problem in hopes of selling us a $12,000 AC unit.  I'm glad I called someone else for a second opinion.

We've been using Rodenheiser for years.  We love them.  They're a pleasure to work with when you have plumbing issues.  Kevin Olsen was here on October 12th to clear a clogged shower drain.  He came at 7:30 and he started my day off on the nicest note.  He fixed our drain, told me about their new software, updated some of my info and I paid by credit card.  Kevin is knowledgeable and professional and he's very nice too.  I highly recommend Rodenheiser!

I have really mixed reviews of this company. Some employees are great, and some are there for the paycheck. I needed additions ductwork and a whole new heating system installed. What I was told would be a three day project turned into a multiple month headache. Some guys came in a didn't get the work done in a timely manner (or correctly), and the next guys who came in explained why things were wrong and needed to be redone. This back and forth happened a few times. I had to use vacation days to accommodate the multiple extra visits for the work to be done/fixed. I was told I didn't need to be home for this work, but I wasn't comfortable with having different people come to my home each time, especially since some of them did what they should and others didn't.

There was an issue with the installation that made the heating system shut down for safety reasons, but with another visit, it was fixed and works fine now (knock on wood). Overall, it was a frustrating process, but I'm glad it is all done now and the system is working as it should.

Andy Rodenhiser takes pride in his business and is willing to go out of his way to make that clear to his customers. We had an unfortunate experience with a single employee from Rodenhiser and initially posted a factual account of what happened in a review. Andy, the owner of the company called me the next day on his personal time and offered to make the situation right at no cost to us. From that point on our experience with Rodenhiser has been nothing but positive. From scheduling to the install itself, we have been pleased to see their professionalism and expertise in action. It's refreshing to see a company of their size show sincere concern for the custom experience. Ultimately, we have been impressed by their integrity and would welcome the opportunity  to work with them again.

Overall I did not have a good experience with Rodenhiser. But first, let me start by highlighting what was good. The staff - both front desk and the technicians I talked to - was very courteous. After my first issue, I received a call from customer service following up on my bad experience, and they waived the second trip fee.

I also accept that some of the disconnect was on my end, so I will be upfront on those below.

I was selling my condo and the buyers had specific contractual requests as a part of the purchase and sale regarding getting the HVAC serviced. They also wanted the interior and exterior refrigerant line insulation (foam) to be replaced. At this point, I had moved out and was living 45 minutes, so my real estate agent was letting in the technician on my behalf. I scheduled the appointment over the phone, and described the specifics of the work.

After the service was completed, I got the invoice which did not describe the insulation replacements. I asked the front desk and they said the work was not done. My agent mentioned going into the contract 3 times with the technician on this, but since she had not stayed through to the end of the service we did not verify everything requested was done.

So I called Rodenhiser for a second service to replace the insulation and requested my trip fee be waived. They agreed to this and we scheduled the appointment. This still cost me $430! While they were upfront about the potential charge being high, this seems outrageous for replacing the foam insulation. I was told ~$70 of it was because my agent was 20 minutes late to letting them in. My mistake was saying yes to the price, because I had a deadline to get the work done ahead of closing on the condo sale and we already lost a week which is what it took to schedule the second appointment, and only had 1 more week left. That didn't leave me a lot of time to find another company, and I hesitated to do it myself because I needed the receipt as proof of professional work for the seller.

During the service, we were told that the interior refrigerant line insulation was replaced after all the first time, so $430 just for the outside foam insulation. Altogether, the two trips cost me $790.

I will not be using Rodenhiser in the future.

We selected Rodenheiser to install a 5 head Mitsubishi air/heat/fan system. The crew was nothing short of amazing. Dylan the crew leader was knowledgeable, respectful, thorough and terrific. You can actually feel and see the teamwork as the job progressed. They installed carpets at the front door to clean boots, all wore masks and distanced, cleaned up after themselves! and more.
We couldn't be happier with the install team.
Also had a great experience with Ross who came out, spec'd the system, managed the quote and oversaw all details. Amazing. These guys are PROS!
The difference in how they approached the system design and had all the details worked out made the other folks we talked to look like beginners. These guys have dedicated teams that install MITS and are the largest (and best I think) in that business. If you are thinking about doing a MITS Spilts system, talk to Rodenheiser. btw: our house is an old house and Mits fit in great!

I called Rodenhiser out of the blue when my furnace didn't start up this season. A technician came out the next day, and with my furnace being 50 years old decided it was time to replace it. Rick, who has been with the company for 30 years, came out a few days later and gave me an estimate. Lacking heat, Rodenhiser worked with me to have the new furnace installed within a week. The crew worked for 2 full days installing the new gas furnace (combined with water heater) and piping. They also connected me with the state program that offers a $2500 rebate for saving energy. Everyone I interacted with at Rodenhiser was courteous, professional, and trustworthy.  I can't recommend them highly enough.

Don't use them.  Totally useless.  Had them come in last summer because my A/C was not blowing cold, only cool.  They came in, told me that I need refrigerant and it would cost 2K and that I should buy a new systems for 15K.  I would need 2 so that was 30K.  So they said they would give send someone over to give me quote and I can decided.  They asked for a check for this 5 min service call and I never heard from them again.  Thank you for this awful service call because I spend 20K not 30K getting new system installed at this moment.  So if you want to be ripped off use this company.  If not, go elsewhere.

Came in to replace about 3 inches of copper pipe with a leak.  Quoted me $800!!!  LOL!!  I told them no.  They charged me $69 bucks to insult me thinking I knew nothing about plumbing.  This was the hot water return from the water heater.  A total water run of about 10 feet. With a shut off valve for the pipe on the water tank - we need to drain and cut out this and that ... blah blah blah. This was not an emergency type job.  They are a scam.  Of course they immediately tried to tell me I needed a whole new burner for the tune of thousands of dollars and told me the high pressure valve needed to be replaced and the boiler was junk. I got another plumber to do the work for less than $200. What a joke!  Don't walk away from them - run!

UPDATE: I will raise this to 2 stars when I actually see a check for the return of my $69 as the reply says.  They can easily figure out who I am and cut me a check.  I suspect that the reply is just another scam to appease the Yelp community.  I wont hold my breath - thats for sure..

UPDATE 2:  I did indeed receive a check refunding my $69 - thus I am raising my rating to two stars as they followed up with me and did send a check.  I give them credit for that.

This company was super responsive to a request for repair on our geo-thermal heating system.  The original installer  -- how to say this nicely - really messed up !  Rodenhiser sent the most awesome tech
(  R. Daniels) who took the time to wade thru the mess left behind from original company --find, address and FIX the problem with this technology and system.  The lack of the 5th star is only because the call back system in place ( Tech needed to come back for a lengthy re-wiring follow up) took over a week to call back.  This part of their company definitely needs improvement

I am a first time customer of Rodenhiser and contacted them for an A/C repair yesterday, 5/4/18. The technician was very friendly and explained mice had damaged the wiring inside the condenser. The technician explained to my wife that the repair would be $1494! I came home to a repaired unit that would no longer shut off without cutting the power via the circuit breaker. The thermostat controls were not tested before leaving the job and I no longer have control of the system.

The worst part of the transaction is the pricing. I examined the replaced parts - some condenser wiring, an inside 24v transformer and a 24v contactor. These parts are available at Home Depot/Lowes for less than $50 in total. Combined with two hours of labor, the $1494 is a total price gouge.

The company refuses to itemize invoices and uses a black box premium pricing system by the type of service. The pricing model is designed to obscure the fact that the services are outrageously over-inflated.

I appreciate this is a business and the business needs to make money. My issue is that they are priced way over market, the repair wasn't successfully completed and the company refuses to explain their pricing details, making it difficult for the customer to assess the value of their service.

I'd like my money back less a fair price for the parts.

Service guy showed up and I had to ask him to wear a mask. While he was competent and knowledgeable, his estimate for a new steam boiler was $13K to $16K. That seemed very high to me so I got two additional estimates, and got the boiler replacement done professionally and in a short amount of time by another hearing contractor. Had I just accepted Rodenhiser's estimate and let them do the job it would have cost me AT LEAST an addition $5K. SHAME ON YOU RODENHISER!!!!

Had a leak and puddle forming behind my toilet, i called a plumber recommended from a neighbor, told me a couple days to get there, i was kind of freaked out that my upstairs was gonna flood so i called another local company, again no luck until Friday (it was Monday), saw Rodenhiser on line and called them, spoke to a girl in office and 6 hours later 2 guys showed up and fixed an old shut off valve / pipe?? Not really sure i got a good deal money wise but they showed up and fixed it quick. Really good experience, guys were polite, explained the problem, cleaned up the mess. Great job. fast job.

I've had to replace multiple heating and cooling systems this year and interviewed 4 vendors.  Rodenhiser's Salesperson Rick Picard was the most expert (having been in Service himself for years before switching to Sales)-- a couple of heat-pump-gas-hybrid boiler/furnace, etc. issues, including how to fit tight spaces, deal w/existing ductwork during renovation, etc. didn't phase him at all (whereas it stumped the other vendors). Of the 4 proposals, Rodenhiser's made the most sense, seemed most confident and had best customer experiences in our area, and was also competitive/comparable on pricing so I felt like I was getting the best quality without paying an exorbitant premium.  Rick was also always responsive, patient and thorough answering many many questions.  An Install team led by Brian Heno was also great at fitting in our new heat pump-gas boiler-hybrid and tankless water heater into a very tight space.  Manager Jeff Amico did a thorough analysis of all the issues we're having on our old, Frankenstein systems and again, was expert and patient.  Now Service team Brian Meeks services all our systems, new and old, and is again, always thorough, expert, explains and helps us think through things (fix or replace, etc.) like he's the homeowner himself.  I am very glad we went w/Rodenhiser and recommend  them to others!

This was my first experience with Rodenhiser. They were a little late getting here (I nervously called twice to find out if they were still coming. They arrived at 5pm, THANKFULLY!)  but once they started they were 110% all business snaking/de-clogging my half-bathroom toilet and sink drain which had become backed up almost to the toilet on the first floor. They were here 3 hours (they finished at 8pm), were totally polite, professional and patient despite the late hours and explained everything to me in detail. They have a standardized pricing book so you know that the price they are quoting you is the price they'd quote anyone else with the same problem. Price was about $1100 for a very dirty job indeed. They cleaned everything up to my satisfaction.

Very bad experience with Rodenhiser.
A little bit more than a year ago, my furnace didn't work. I called Rodenhiser for help. On 10/8/2019. the technician, Tim, came. He said I need to get a few new parts which cost me more than $2,000. He suggested me to join a year maintenance plan at $180 to get discount on the fixing. I did.
Before he left (the fixing have to wait for a few more days for the new parts), he reminded me to mark down on my calendar for the free routine maintenance plan next year before the plan expired.
About 2 months ago, I called Rodenhiser as Tim recommended. On the phone, the agent scheduled 10/6/2020 service and agreed it's free.
On 10/2/2020, another agent called me offering me a discount to reschedule the service to a later day. But, after knowing that I've to use my free service before it expired, the schedule was kept.
On 10/6/2020, the technician, Steve, came. Before he started, he confirmed it's free to me.
At the end, he suggested me to replace the Control Board and the Power Storage Device at $1,079.40 (the furnace is still working well today); plus joined another year of plan at $180.
I said, I needed to think about it.
There were total 4 people from Rodenhiser confirmed the service was within the plan.
About ten days later, I got a letter asking me to pay $189 for the10/6 service.
I disagreed and had a phone call with the service manager. We didn't have an agreement.
Today, 10/30/2020, I received a letter pushing to pay $189; otherwise they would escalate my account to collections.
I'm ready to hire a lawyer to fight for the principle with Rodenhiser.

Quoted $1400 to $1500 to replace a $70 shower diverter.

Upsell drama was high, the tech explained to me that as a 5 star company they don't price by parts or by the hour.  He then immediately suggested he could try a cheaper ($270) repair but might drop a part during it down the wall and couldn't guarantee it would last.

I waited for him to acknowledge the irony of saying they were a 5 star company that will probably drop something or fail the repair.  He didn't.

After the $270 fix (which did work, for the moment) my wife got the hard sell on water filter, new water heater, $1200 plumbing plan, etc.

Call them if you're desperate but if you can wait a couple days for a local plumber you will pay about 20% of their price.

Be caution if you have an old unit.  They forced us and disabled my furnace after a faulty pilot light service was fixed, saying CO level was too high in flue gas (questionably testing method), and tried to sell us a new system.  I do need a new system but don't like being pushed around.  We decided to shop around and found a better quote (20% less) and great service from Obie in Framingham.

Rodenhiser installed a new gas fired forced-air furnace for us in Jan 2019. Rodenhiser handled all the paperwork for the Mass Saves rebates.  Contrary to what I'd heard before I spoke to them, Rodenhiser's price was right there with the other companies I spoke to. The process was totally painless from sales to install to post-install rebate receipt. I'd highly recommend Rodenhiser.

I needed a Grohe kitchen faucet head replaced. I purchased the new faucet head. I just could not unscrew the old head. I just wanted the 5 minute job done so I can use my kitchen sink again. I asked for a price but was told it would be $29 to assess the situation and then I would pay by the job but they don't give out any quotes on the phone. Just disappointed, I said no because I don't want to pay an open ended exorbitant price for a few turns of wrench.

The Rodenhiser team, which included electricians as well as HVAC installers, were on time and respectful of my home. They communicated with me about the project throughout the 2.5 days they were in my house.  Our project was updating our electrical service from 100 to 200 and also installing a split AC system.  Our home is nearly 200 years old, so the space is challenging, but the team kept me in the loop on progress as well as any hiccups. Since I was working from home, and the project involved the power getting shut off for extended times, I appreciated that the team communicated with me regularly about what to expect.  The team cleaned up everything--not even a coffee cup left behind. All in all one of the easiest experiences I have had with contractors.

Called their office Monday morning regarding a problem we were having with our A/C system. We were told the soonest they could get to us was Friday. We took the appointment - shame on us. We were told that we would get a call 45 minutes prior to their arrival. Like most people, we are busy and asked for their expectations of timing (morning, afternoon, etc.). We called for an update late Thursday afternoon. They could not provide a service window. This morning (Friday) we called and asked if they had any idea when someone would be out. No. We called again at 1:00pm and after speaking to dispatch, we were told that we were next in line for servicing. Here we are Friday afternoon after 4:00 and they are still a no show. This is not the way professional companies do business.

We just moved from a condo to a house (suburbs) and since the move, we've had multiple issues with our 1920 colonial such as plumbing.  In most cases, I would spend time and do  adequate research on Yelp, Angies List, etc. to find a provider.  Our scenario was a bit different because it required immediate attention and while Rodenhiser did their absolute best to get someone out the same day it wouldn't be until the next morning for an emergency visit.

*Side note -  I don't think in the history of reviews I've seen as many positive reviews for a service, therefore I REALLY wanted to work with this company with my plumbing and HVAC issues.  On Friday 5/5/17 they were able to schedule an HVAC appointment for Monday morning between 7am and 8am - perfection.

So, because I needed immediate service Roto Rooters was able to come out same day.  It was a disaster, the man was nice enough, but our Kholer system was too modern for him to even touch so he took pictures and said he'd report back.  This was not what I expected.  I called  Rodenhiser back and they were able to fit me in today 5/6/17 and I cannot say enough about their customer service and specifically the service provider, Chris, who came to assess the problem.  Within 10 minutes he was able to fix the problem temporary until a new part was ordered immediately to be installed next week.  Chris was professional, easy to talk to, knowledgeable, good with my son and dog and most importantly passionate about what he does.  He went the extra mile while Roto Rooter was a joke.

I'd recommend this company to anyone and my expectations are HIGH.  If you can get Chris for plumbing issues try as he's the type of employee I'd hire in a second.  Appointment with HVAC Monday morning and I have peace of mind it will go as smoothly as today.  This company is fantastic!

Customer's lack of knowledge is what Rodenhiser making money on. I realized that after spending $240 (trip fee and diagnostic in Massachusetts area) where the diagnostic took less than a minute. I was not informed about the diagnostic fee when the service appointment is fixed. I never realized Rodenhiser plumbers are much costlier than a PCP. Well, there is a first!

After the diagnostic and talking to manufacturer, the quote was given to me exorbitant and they don't break down the cost components in their quote. The tech was very generous and offered to waive the $160 diagnostic if I take their service. I am really floored by Rodenhiser's generosity as I have been given an option to spend 32 times more to save $160 or loose it.

Bottom line, if you can do some research and want to shop around Rodenhiser is not for you as you need to spend at least $240 to for them say a word about what your plumbing problem is.

I had a clogged drain in the basement, not the main drain. Called the company on Tuesday and scheduled an appointment on Friday. The technician showed up and looked at the drain (looked at the configuration maybe?) without even turning on the water, gave me a quote of $490 to snake it. I knew i t was very expensive for just snaking but I needed the problem solved soon so I said go for it. He went back to the company to get the snake (he came out knowing I had a drain problem, why isn't the snake in the truck?) and came back in about less than an hour (I was doing yoga which was about 15 min a session and I was in my 4th). I opened the door and he started getting his stuff ready while I went back to finish my 4th session. I heard him going in and out a few times so I went to check on him, he said there's a lot of grease and the snake isn't going in. So I asked him is this the only way? To snake it? He said yea, that's all I can do. Without a camera I won't know what is it like inside. I will keep tryingI said ok and went upstairs. Then my husband came home, went straight to the basement to see how the plumber was doing. I heard them talking so I went down too. The plumber was saying the snake wouldn't work, it needs a jet flush (from a real drain cleaning company) or they can dig my floor and replace the cast piping underground. I left them alone as the plumber gave an estimate for replacing the pipe ($5000). When my husband saw him off and came upstairs he complained about paying $150 for nothing and blaming me for finding this company. I was in for quite a surprise when he said we got charged $150 for attempted but failed. $150 for less than 30 mins being here and more than half of the time was giving estimate, are you serious? They might had this policy all along but I was not informed at all. $75 for estimate but not hired and $490 for snaking the drain open. Never was a $150 charge for trying to see what I can do I was ever informed. That's probably how they do business, I don't know. When I later called their company and asked for the charge they say it's a severe blockage. I guess that's what I hired a professional for right? Point is if drain isn't your specialty just tell me. Don't book an appointment and send in a Micky mouse plumber and tell me I have to replace my pipes. Not happy at all!

Update next day (Saturday): rented an auto feed 1/2 inch drain snake from Home Depot ($58 for 4 hours. Don't get the bigger 3/4 one if you are NOT using for the big main drain. Attachment heads too big to go into my 2 inch pipe) a big bottle of professional strength Drano($14), the clog was open! If it was actually a DIY job, and this company did not even have the proper machine to open drains, they are probably just sending sales person to give estimates for digging and changing pipes. I'm asking my $150 back on Monday! It wasn't even attempted and failed, it was standing by a machine and making it look like I tried.

I contacted Rodenhiser through the Mass Save program. It was one of a few companies locally that participated in the program. I had a 20 or so year old Weil-McLean that was working but getting close to its end-of-life. Rather than risk a mid-winter disaster if I weren't at home, I decided to get a complete upgrade for around $20K.
The project took about three days with at least two plumbers on site at all times. They worked professionally. They were neat, quiet, and personable. I have seven zones in my house (1890 frame that had old coal to oil burner, heating loops throughout the house, so I made each loop into a zone twenty years ago. One even told me NOT to use USB thermostats (Heck, who wants anybody to snoop via a USB device?).
The system worked almost flawlessly from day one. One or two of the zones did not work so I called for support. Rodenhiser took a few days but I didn't have a critical need for the zones to work. Once the plumber/electrician came to the house, it took a few hours before everything was working fine.
Everything has been working fine since then.

I did ask for a quote on some electrical work. Rodenhiser was not very responsive. I sent some pictures to a manager there; no quick response; I called; then got an estimate for a visit. That took about three or so weeks to complete. After the visit I got an estimate that was much more expensive than others in metro west. Given the initial delay, I decided Rodenhiser wanted to concentrate on plumbing rather than electrical, so I went with someone else. Others may have a different experience if they have a bundled project.

Reducing raiting 1 star due to being a premium member but still waiting 9 hours for on call service. I figured out a solution myself for my problem.
The first 3 hours 6am to 9am were wasted as the one call operator did not even put in my request. As of 3pm and 2 trips to Home Depot have resulted in me figuring out for myself a solution.

Had a great experience from scheduling to quote to installation to follow up. They were very well informed and knowledgeable, proactive about offering information/quickly assessing our needs and sharing thoughts on options, and were responsive and professional throughout. A bit more expensive than other bids but offered more and We felt more confident about the product and the work Rodenhiser would do to set us up well for the long term. Got 4 references from/on them, and a separate unofficial one, all glowing. Installation was 3 weeks ago, so far all good!

Very professional service. The technician, Ed F. came in the promised time slot, was very professional and helpful. He did a thorough inspection of the entire system, explained things that needed to be fixed/replaced and gave helpful advice and tips on general maintenance of the house, I am very happy with the service I have received and would recommend it.

A side note to the lady answering the phone, it would have been an even nicer experience if you were not so condescending and rude. This review is only 5 stars because Ed has provided a beyond excellent service and his professional manner convinced me to change my mind and not write a negative review.

Zero stars isn't available, but a negative would be more fitting.
First let me say the technicians that came out were polite.  The issue is the pricing.  $576 for less than an hours work.
I have a inside sewer drain line that was flowing the wrong direction because it was supported badly.  I fixed it myself with ten dollars of hangers from Lowes.
I still wanted someone to come out and flush the line and make sure it is working.  At worst it is a simple flush of a drain line.
For what would have been less than 1-hour's work and no specialty tools I couldn't buy for less than $100 from Lowes - they wanted to charge me $576.
I would never use this service.  If I were a plumber I would work somewhere else.
It seems like a company more interested in making boat payments than providing plumbing services.  If my house were flooding I'd rather buy a boat than use this service.
The technicians don't have any flexibility, and they seem more than happy to just give out the good news.

They called me a month and a half ago to schedule an AC check.  Appointment was today between 1-4pm.  Nicole called me at 3pm to tell me the tech was running late and would be here between 4-5pm.  at 5:10, I had to call the number, and whomever answered the phone said they were on their way.  This has happened now three times with Rodenhiser, and judging by other reviews, not to just me.  They are obviously overscheduling their techs.  You know what never runs late?  When they charge my credit card on the first of every month for the service plan I signed up for.  Never a delay there.  I am sure this professional company will find a way to reimburse me for my wasted time today.

Update:  Dan from Customer Service called today and made things right.  I have amended my rating to reflect this.

Total no shows - twice!!!!!  I'd give no stars if that were an option.

We called to have a heating system check. Granted, it was no emergency but I still had to make a appointment, take off work, and sit around for half a day on two separate occasions to wait for them to show up, which they didn't.

The first time, they called 20 minutes after the time frame they gave me expired (10-1)  to tell me that the tech was running late due to emergencies. They weren't exactly sure when I could expect him, so I offered to reschedule since I couldn't wait at home the rest of the day. Stuff happens, right?

Well, the second time, I called them a half hour before the appointment window (1-4) expired, only to be told again that they had emergencies and couldn't make it that day and that I'd need to reschedule.

If your techs are running that far behind schedule and can't make it that day, why wouldn't you contact your customers earlier on to let them know? I guess 8 hours of my life and my pay doesn't matter much to you.

And no, I won't be rescheduling that appointment again.

I have been using Rodenhiser for my HVAC and plumbing needs for several years now and have always been very pleased with the work that they do.

Just recently, I decided it was time to replace the HVAC unit in my attic. The entire process was super easy. Rick came out and gave me an estimate of the job and walked me through all the rebates available. He also let me know about the MassSave program which turned out to be a great benefit.

Ed & Tom came out and installed the new system over the last two days. They did a fantastic job. Very professional, answered all my questions, walked me through the setup and use of the wifi thermostats and constantly cleaned up after themselves. It was very hot working in that attic but they kept at it until they were done.

I did get one other estimate for the HVAC system that was less expensive but based on my history with Rodenhiser, I decided it was a matter of you get what you pay for and I am glad I went with Rodenhiser, Rick, Ed and Tom. I could not be happier.

i wasted 95 dollars the other day. My system was diagnose that it had a leak. not bad considering that i called them for a repair of a leak.

They would apply the 95 dollar fee towards the repair. The quote to find leak, evacuate the system and recharge was 1000 dollars and if i want and electrical check for the leak add 500 dollars

When i set up the appointment  i told them that is was in the general contracting business and we did work together many years ago.  They said that the mechanic would diagnose the problem and fix it.. i thought 95 dollars and a couple of hours plus materials would total 300-400 dollars

Let me remind everyone that this is a 12,000 btu mini split system which i paid around 2000 dollars for it.. After the shock of them trying to price gouge me, i was fortunate to talk to the person who installed the unit and he sent over has man to fix it. Took him 2 hours at the most.

Apparently, there are people out there who are willing to pay 2 to 4 times what it is worth..Get a couple of quotes.

BEWARE...

I had a Rodenhiser tech to the house to look at my Central AC that was not cooling. The Tech (or should I say first line of sales) said the system had a leak and was out of coolant. He then recommended replacing the ENTIRE system because of it's age and quickly went into what obviously was a sales pitch about interest free mass loans etc.. and he pushed to set up a sales appointment right then by phone (which we later canceled). I asked him the cost of a system and he estimated between 12-15K. I asked if it was possible to only replace the outside condenser and he reiterated no again, the whole system had to be replaced because of it's age (note this and read on). He also said finding and repairing the leak could be upwards of $2000. This lack of service and obvious sales pitch cost me $95 on the spot.

Fast forward a week later and I had a different AC company to the house. This tech informed me nobody had even checked my coolant because the inspection cap hadn't been removed. He could tell by the rust build up. He also said I was low on coolant, but there was NO leak. He did a pressure check and the system was perfect, it just needed some coolant added. So the Rodenhiser tech hadn't actually checked the system. I asked out of curiosity if my old system had to be entirely replaced if I wanted to update the condenser. He said absolutely not. You only need to replace the part that isn't working and the old coolant line can be flushed and adaptors are used to attach a new condenser to the older fan motor still working inside the house. Now, that's a reputable AC service tech. He filled my coolant and my old AC system is running perfectly.

I can't stress enough how disappointed I am that Rodenhiser is preying on unsuspecting homeowners that don't ask the right question and don't get second opinions. Worse if the tech really doesn't check the system and doesn't perform a pressure test that's straight out FRAUD!!! I want my $95 back because it basically was stolen and thankfully they didn't get me for 15K. I also suspect many of their 5-star reviews are fake because most of them are single reviewers.

The good news is they come quickly. The bad news is that they will charge you 3x what something should cost, at least within their plumbing division. I've had somewhat better experience with their HVAC people. Today they quoted $3,500+ to replace a hot water heater. I had an identical one replaced for $1,100 with a different plumber 2 years ago. They took 10 minutes to decide that the heater needed replacement, and the tech then complained that their $69 charge for 10 minutes work wasn't worth his time!!

They should get zero stars, but that wasn't a choice.  I had an appointment for today,  Tuesday, June , 2017, to have work done for which a deposit was made. The total cost of the service was to be over $1100.  I called on Tuesday morning at 8:30AM to confirm the appointment for today, was clearly told it was today, and that the service technician would be here between 12 and 3PM.  The customer service rep even told me that it was going to be 12 and 3 because they were in a meeting.  I took a day-off, which cost me about $800.

Nobody showed-up.  I called to complain and was told that the appointment was on Weds.  However, the appointment was clearly scheduled for Tuesday and the person with whom I confirmed it on Tuesday was very clear about it.

Their response was to apologize and tell me they could come on Weds because that was the day of the appointment.  Obviously, they're dumb because I had just told the woman that their employee clearly confirmed the appointment for today this morning.  There was no mistake.  They wanted me to simply forget it and take another day-off at a cost of roughly another $800, plus I had meetings scheduled for Weds because I had a Tuesday appointment with Rodenhiser.

They wanted me to take another day-off, which already cost me about $800!  I told them to cancel the service and refund me my deposit.  Their response was that they would still keep a $95 service fee for the visit when they developed the cost for the work for which I provided the deposit.  So, they're charging me $95 for a visit because they failed to keep an appointment to perform the work that ended up costing me $800 in vacation time.  I now need to find another service provider and the work will be more difficult to do because it involves running wiring for wall cabinets after they're up rather than before they go up.

The way they should have handled it was to offset the cost of the service by the cost of my vacation time that I wasted.  Instead, they just want to milk the customer.  Now we'll head to small claims court where I'll seek compensation for wasting a vacation day for their no-show, the $95 service charge because their visit yielded nothing of value to me because they ailed to keep the subsequent appointment, and the difference between what they were going to charge me and whatever I'm charged by another service provider.

DO NOT USE THIS BUSINESS - CLOSE THEM DOWN!

I had a 51 year old working boiler and wanted to take advantage of the Mass Save rebate so quoted 4 boiler companies. Rick Picard from Rodenhiser was a great, well informed sales representative and quickly outlined how his  company could do the job for me, and had done it many times before. He also knew the Mass Save process and was able to provide financing and application support. A great help!

Installation day came and Rick Woods arrived (exactly on time) with Bill West assisting. Rick is amazing! He has been with the company for 18 years and for two whole days worked removing my old boiler and water heater and installing a brand new state of the art system mounted on two 36 wall panels.

It was cold and they worked 12 hour days but Rick and Bill never indicated anything but they were there to help and get the job done. Rick was careful to inform us when the water or heat would be off and back on. Questions? No Problem.

Amazingly, at 7 pm on day 2, Rick and Bill were checking and re-checking every zone, every thermostat, every vent and all with good humor and no rush demeanor.

Then Rick, still later in the evening, takes us downstairs and clearly explains in detail how the system works, what we should know, the benefit it will be in the future and how much support his company provides if/when needed. The basement area was immaculate.

Since the install Rodenhiser has filed all the forms for rebate and permits while keeping me updated via email.

I suspect everyone hopes for a good, if not great, experience with a large investment, potentially inconvenient, project and I am glad to highly recommend Rodenhiser with Rick Picard, Rick Woods and Bill West. Working with them was a great experience. Thank you!

Awesome company! Our heat was not working on one of the coldest days. They were the only company that actually returned our phone call. None of the other 3 companies returned our calls EVER! They came out quickly and fixed the problem
They are a very professional company. Great customer service. Really nice technicians. I highly recommend this company.

Did a search and found these guys on Google and glad I did. Very professional, neat and knowledgeable and even cleaned up and let me know everything she did with my furnace. I was taking precautionary measures by ensuring I get this annually checked and these guy are the real deal. They know what they are doing and are efficient and price was right. I would highly recommend!

They were very nice guys that came and looked at my plumbing -- but they spent over two hours writing estimates and charged me a trip fee.  They did not repair anything! They told me how much trouble I would have if I did not address immediately.  I ended up hiring an established plumber in the area and he repaired the issues asap for half of the cost.  No writing estimates -- just repairing my problems.  Rodenhiser may be good for some by not for us.

Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to do business with Rodenhiser. They sent me a card in the mail stating to contact them for an early bird price. I called and left a message and I used the website that came on the card early and mid-May.

I finally got an email back telling me to call in. When I finally got ahold of them, they said that the offer was only good in May even though I've made every attempt to contact them in May.

The person I spoke to on the phone was nice but said they could not do anything for me since I'm contacting them in June. I have emails from their response system that I contacted them in May but that didn't make a difference.

To me, this is a bait and switch tactic that I'm not a fan of.

Have used this company several times. They take your money and give terrible customer service. Very poor value for the price. Installed wrong parts, broke other components of my plumbing, and take no responsibility. And they charge $$$$. I feel scammed. Might be convenient to work with a larger company, but not worth the money, stress, and hassle. Stay away.

My garbage disposal was evidently jammed, although it had no power.  I have fixed jams multiple times, but thought it was fried.  Called Rodenhiser and customer service was good. However I was taken back by their prices, to unjam the disposal was over $220, if they had to replace it--- 995!! (This would have never been allowed).  Mind you, a garbage disposal costs between 79 and 199 on average...installation is less than an hour.  Secondly, I had a very minor issue with my bathroom sink that I asked them to look at.  They told me my (newly renovated) faucet was cheap and to replace just the faucet would be.... 700 dollars.  Again, a good Koehler faucet would be way less than 149.  These folks are an absolute rip off, find someone small and local with some ethics.

Had no heat on the coldest day of the year and because I don't have a contract with a specific oil co., I was having a hard time finding someone to come out. Not only did they come in a few hours and fix my problem, they came back an hour later when my heat wouldn't shut down. Tom was great and they didn't even charge for a second service charge which he could have easily done after spending an additional 45 minutes fixing the problem.  The bill was also very reasonable.
Thanks!!!!!!

I will preface by saying that Rodenhiser is pretty expensive, but from what we have seen so far, the quality and performance of their product is fantastic and worth it. We had a new boiler system installed and the system is pretty unbelievable. The equipment quality and hand-built zoning system is impressive.

Ed and Peter were the two individuals who completed the installation and they were excellent...on time, worked their tails off, and definitely showed they cared about the quality of their service....to the point where Ed was obviously upset at a very minor hardware issue that he promptly remedied prior to completion of the project :)

Ryan B was our sales rep and he did a great job of explaining our options, walking us through the purchase and Mass Save process, and overall making us feel comfortable with spending 16K.

Highly recommend, especially with the Mass Save program.

Rodenhiser is AWESOME!

I have had them come out three times.

Once when my kitchen sink exploded.  I needed a new one and since I was selling the place, I didn't want to spend a lot.  The tech was VERY helpful, and I feel bad I can't remember his name. He gave me his phone and we scrolled thru the options they could give me.  He answered all my questions, and even found out measurements that weren't in the online description for me.  He gave me the option of finding my own sink somewhere, for probably cheaper, but I really didn't have the time.  They came back, installed it and done!

The second time, my pipes froze.  But I didn't know it.  I kept my house heated enough to keep this from happening, or so I thought.  I only had to pay for the service fee, about $95, which is a LOT cheaper than other places, AND he gave me quite a lesson on what to do to keep the pipes from freezing, and keep my furnace from dying.  VERY KNOWLEDGABLE, and very eager to teach.  Same tech, so double mad I can't remember his name.  He was great!

The last time they came out, I needed some cleaning done on my HVAC for the new owners.  Rodenhiser was booked till after my closing, so I had to use another company.  BIG MISTAKE.  I won't go into the hellish NIGHTMARE this other company put me thru, I'd rather talk about how AWESOME Rodenhiser is.  The other company ended up saying there was a gas leak.  But they wouldn't fix it on that call.  I needed to make a new appointment some other day.  I'm smelling scam. Now to any SANE person, a gas leak needs immediate attention.  I called Rodenhiser and they wanted to come out THAT DAY, even though they were booked solid.  They came, they saw, they confirmed there is NO GAS LEAK.  Thanks for saving my butt on that one Rodenhiser!

I love Rodenhiser.   Highly recommend them to anyone.

Updated rating..highly recomended Rodenhiser to my daughter and they put in the $19,000 heat and ac last year. Well nothing but multiple failures on the furnace the latest Tuesday Oct. 23, repair man coming between 8&10 pm but NEVER arrived. Rodenhiser needs to step up and remove the lemon furnace and replace it. They extended the service plan after numerous calls to them but this is no longer acceptable.

I have had a very FRUSTRATING and NEGATIVE experience with Rodenhiser.  I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere for heating/plumbing service.

After noticing a leak in my aging water heater I decided it was time to replace the unit.  I contacted Rodenhiser and explained my situation.  I was told that they could send a technician to my home for a service visit for which I would be charged $69 to assess the job and discuss options for installing a new water heater.  I was not happy about having to pay nearly $70 dollars simply to have someone look at my water heater, but I needed to address the leak and wanted to do so quickly.  I scheduled a visit with a technician for the following day and was given a 3-hour window to expect the service visit.  With about 10 minutes remaining and with no update from customer service or from the technician himself, I called to ask if I should still be expecting a visit from the technician.  The customer service rep apologized for making me wait and confirmed that the technician was on the way.  The technician arrived about 20 minutes after the schedule time frame.  I know things like these happen and it's not always a huge inconvenience, but a call from customer service or the technician explaining the situation would have been appreciated.

The service visit was mostly a joke.  The technicians took a quick look around and asked what I wanted to do.  I told them that I wanted to install a heat pump water heater since my electric company offered a rebate for these energy efficient units.  They briefly tried to talk me into another type of heater mostly because the didn't really like the heat pump type and said it was hard to find anyone that would service them if the pump were to break.  Then they went to their truck for about 15-20 minutes to put together a quote for a few different water heater options.  They then presented me with a quote to install a new heat pump water heater that was $1500 MORE than I was expecting based upon my research.  I know prices can vary for a variety of reasons, but the rates they quoted seemed absurd.  They told me they would email me the quote since they had written it up on their tablet.  I did not receive an email with the quote that night nor the next day.

Nearly a week later I still have not received a quote from Rodenhiser!  I was charged $69 for the service visit and after multiple attempts to contact the service technician and customer service I have not received the quote for which I paid $69.

I do not know how you can operate a successful business like this.  Reading some of the other Yelp reviews suggests that my experience is not unique.  I suggest finding someone else and be sure to read customer reviews before agreeing to anything.  I wish I had done the same and avoided this company altogether.

I had contacted Rodenhiser to come out and unhook an old Gas stove and hook up a new stove. mind you he was here for roughly 1 hour. The only additional work he had to do was change the old valve located behind my stove with a new one which took 5 minutes and then hook up the new stove. To change the valve he unscrewed the old one applied gunk around the pipe for the new one and than screwed it on.
I was totally shocked at the charges $628.12 minus a $50 dollar coupon Really! Wow!  He had absolutely no work breakdown as to why I was charged so much. Just a flat rate he said.  That I've never heard of before.

The Tech was nice but not at this price.
I will never ever use them again and I will never say a good word to many of my friends about them either.   Word of mouth is powerful.

Not starting out on the right foot. Called to get a rep out to look at installing 2 toilets. The guy never showed up, and the company finally called me 15 min before the window closed. Pretty shady if you ask me - they charge $75 just to come out and give you an estimate and then they don't even show.

During our call, she said she could send them tomorrow with the same window. I told her unacceptable - first time on me - second time on you. I want a narrower window. She called back stating first thing in the morning.

The jury still out on the rest of the job. I WILL be coming back and updating this. Things I am looking for:
1. price
2. job done correctly
3. work performed warranty
4. do they clean up after themselves

Well, here is the final chapter of this review:
1. Price, was quoted at over a thousand dollars. I used Yelp and found another plumber(local small business) that said it would be about three fifty. When I asked the guy why my quote was so high, he actually replied with: we have alot of overhead. LOL
2. Not going with this company nor will I call them for anything else.

In my opinion, this company is too big for residential work.

The good: Nice, professional, clean.

The bad: Overpriced is an understatement. Their prices are absolutely obscene.

I had them come replace a spigot and move the basement shutoff for that spigot a few feet because it was right over the electrical panel. They charged me $600. When I saw the quote, I figured it was going to be a long job. Ended up taking him 1.5 hours. He also quoted me over $2000 to install a utility sink in the basement with a pump (septic so the water has to be pumped up).

I had another very reputable plumber at my house recently and asked him for a quote for the utility sink, he quoted me less than $1000. I also told him what I was charged for the spigot and he laughed.

Only reason they get 2 stars is because the guy was nice and professional.

We've hired Rodenhiser a few times over several years.  I always knew they weren't a bargain, but they were competent and convenient. Unfortunately, they seem to have moved to a business model of gouging uninformed customers who may be in a bind.  I recently had them visit for very basic plumbing jobs that I've had done before.  Once I was on the hook for a $69 trip fee they quoted me nearly $1,000 for two basic jobs.  I had them do the less costly one that needed to be completed even though I knew it was way overpriced.  They charged me over $300 for a job that took no more than half an hour and required essentially no materials.  Two days later I found a plumber who charged me $100 for the other job that Rodenhiser quoted at over $500.  It's probably safe to get bids from them for HVAC work and compare against other shops, but I wouldn't think of making a service call to them unless you have money to throw away.

I asked for technician to come look at my water heater for an emergency. I waited home in the said time window but no one showed up in the time window nor did anyone call to inform if they would be late. They were so nit picky about selling their premium plans and being there during an emergency but not only did they not show up when an emergency occurred they did not bother calling and informing! I've called again and asked for someone to take a look, hopefully someone will show. Many home owners in my community are starting to complain and have stories of how Rodenheiser is trying to get them by doing updates which are not necessary. Seriously thinking of not continuing with their maintenance plan.

Let's send this company a message as big as the billboard on which they advertise the following: Is your wife hot? ... call Rodenhiser ... . Really!!! See it on Route 20 in Marlboro, MA (and elsewhere , I suspect!).  This same advertisement now appears for the 2nd time in the last year, so apparently their marketing is no mistake.

Does the owner/management of this company have any scruples? Do they really think this sexist, tongue in cheek humor, which offends both women and men as they drive by is supposed to earn them business - and respect? Their only way to do so is take down the sign and be known for the quality of their work and the cost of the service which, if you read other reviews or have personal knowledge of their service, which I do, you'd probably look elsewhere

Join with me, choose another company more deserving of your business and let Rodenhiser - and their wives - find out just how hot it can get!

Although very nice and pleasant people to deal with, their quality of work is well below par. We ordered an AC system to be installed and paid over 17K, yet we had to deal with multiple issues that STILL prevent us from using the system TWO years after it was installed. First, the outside unit arrived damaged, which caused for delays, as they had to re order and deliver another one. Once the system was installed, it turned out that pipes that the company used were of poor quality and have rotten less than a year of very light use, which prompted them to be replaced. Which means additional scheduling for inspection and actual remediation and of course our time not to say a hole in a wall that has to be fixed at our expense. Replacement job wasn't done properly, as they couldn't make sure the system was functional, as there was a leak, that promped yet another visit. Another technician showed up and identified that installers didn't connect one inhouse unit properly and there was a leak that he fixed, YET couldn't say for sure if the system now is in a good order. And it was not. Refrigerant leaked out in a short order making system un operational again. Yet another round of scheduling and a visit from a person to state that there is a leak. And now we are again waiting for someone to come over and fix it.
The fact is: we paid in full two years ago for something we can not use still.

This company is a very big rip of. The Tech Dan was very deceptive in his dealing with this particular install. He came across very nice & took total advantage of then & Crisis & Challenged situation.I paid out of pocket & was not covered by insurance and I agreed to pay the $14,000. Which I did only because they were in the process of damaging my credit. Basically to save my home. plus with the Agreement that Rodenhiser was going to work with us on a Mass Save discounts which we depended on due to the HUGE out of pocket payment expense. My friend explained the Rodenhiser Install Agreement to me which I signed and made the initial down payment. This guy assumed that I may not had the balanced so after getting her emailed he started contacting her by phone & US mail. It was the weirdest thing, sending demanding letters and pressuring her to pay when in reality I'm waiting for my discounts & Mass save info to Process the Completion of the contract with them. Rodenhiser was totally out of control even when I reached out to customer service they were Not helpful because they did not look into why the delay and was preoccupied on contacting my friend with Demands for payment because some how they ASSUMED I was unable to pay my bill. But they billed my friend and threatened her Credit with demand letters. When she assured the company that they would be paid in entirety and made whole, when the tech fulfill his agreement of the agreed Discounts for the overpriced job. They did Not keep their end of the bargain and started billing my friend who never signed or agreed to any type of contract with Rodenhiser company. Mind you, they were already paid thousands of dollars down payment by me while they harassed & demand payment from my friend who never had a contract with them. While waiting for them to give me the Mass Save discount info they started demanding payments & sending DEMANDING letters to my friend who Never sign or agreed on the contract. There was no problem with the payments from us but, they lied about discount. They did not explain about their demand policy, regarding discounts & financing and their periods once the work is completed. everything was so deceptive. Thanks to God,  I have the ability to pay. My friend would never let me enter any agreement that I couldn't make whole even without the discount. BE AWARE .....The Tech wanted us pick some random bank, running off all these banks not caring about, we needed to have this info before hand as we enter with them to be certain we can handle a loan. WE NEVER NEEDED A BANK NOR NEITHER DID WE TELL THIS COMPANY WE COULDN'T pay. We just knew they lied & they OVERCHARGED us. We need them to full their end of the bargain & not surprise us. My friend did speak directly to customer service & the mails & demand still continued. She did not give Rodenhiser Plumbing & Heating Co., her info for this contract . The Tech only asked her for her email to forward the correspondence Also, I had already given them the down payment so I do not know why this company kept billing her, calling & demanding payment from her. Me as a Client was totally misjudged regarding my ability to handle my bill. instead the Tech attached my contract to my friend's personal info. She was fully aware on two occasions when two different techs tried to get her to sign the contract for completing the work, while I was in the home, even though I had already gave them approx. half down paid. She recognized it as bad practice & did not sign. I NEVER GOT ANY DISCOUNT FROM Rodenhiser COMPANY for this job As AGREED.

We called the company because there was a leak in our AC furnace which ended up wetting our ceiling.  It was Sunday so we were in a bunch not to mention being first time homeowners. After leaving a message with the call center, we received a call back instantly. They told us they were fully booked until Tuesday. Within a few hours, they called us back and said someone can be over in about 30 mins. We were more than delighted. GARY showed up and the first thing he did was put on some booties to cover his shoes. That was the cherry on top for us; being Asians who do not appreciate shoes in the house. He must have gone up and down the ladder to the attic 10 time. Everytime he removed his booties before going up and put them back on after coming down,  just to take them off at the front door to go to his truck. It was like a ritual for him.
Long story short, the small job turned out to be a 3-4 hr job as the plumbing was completely wrong to begin with. We were actually afraid he was going to quit on us. However, he was very patient, spending hours in the 80-90 degree weather attic; trial and error everything possible.

GARY MICHAUD DID A PHENOMENAL JOB!  Seriously, 5 stars is not a high enough rating for this man. WE ARE 100% SATISFIED. This mature man took pride in his work, made sure everything was done completely correct the first time. We appreciate the amount of respect he showed us and our house. We are very careful of strangers who come into our house but Gary is a keeper. We would even trust him enough to let him work on our house without his being present.
We will be asking for Gary ever we use this company again. Hopefully, not anytime soon! :)

P.S. I have been told that this company is expensive. It was the weekend before 95  degree weather so not being without an AC is definitely not okay for our 4 pets. We were charged $95 dollars just for them to come out, plus $85 for weekend service ( they made sure we were told about the 85 and 95 before someone was sent) on top of $320. We mentioned seeing a coupon online and it was granted right away. They didn't even need us to pull it up. Paying the large amount was definitely painful ( seriously, we don't even want to know what we would have saved with another company) but in the end, we got an amazing respectful guy doing work on our house and as far as we are concerned, we have made a business connection. Why not pay more to guarantee the job was done right?

Donquor was excellent, he came on time to examine our AC units, was very considerate and patient with our questions, and most of all very knowledgeable. Had a great experience with Rodenhiser, the sales rep Rick, the staff and the technicians Daniel, Ed and Peter.
They were on top of it, professional, pleasant, easy to talk to and not pushy which is impenitent for me.
Rick came late to our house for an appointment made sure to explain in details the different options available and followed up promptly with the information needed.  Even when it came it finishing the paperwork, Rick was still involved with the process. Great customer service.
Kathy and the staff in the office were always pleasant over the phone, really helpful and when it got confusing, she was patient and more than happy to help.
Finally, Daniel, Ed and Peter made themselves unnoticeable for two days during the installation.  They came early in the morning, protected the floors to make sure they didn't bring mud into the house and kept me in the loop throughout the install.
Overall, great experience and highly recommend them.

We have a Mitsubishi ductless AC system which is about 5 years old. The system developed a leak so we called Rodeniser for them to come out and do the inspection. We were told that the charge would be $69.00 for them to come out. When I told them I didn't mind paying the money but what would happens if they can't find the leak. The answer I got was '' if there's a leak we'll find it'' When Their '' tech'' arrived he wasn't really interested to look for a leak and told me that the chemicals used in the coolant caused the copper pipes developed holes and the solution was to replace the copper pipes with the rubber tubing. He proceeded with an estimate of $ 10,000.00 for a job which I declined. ( who wouldn't) I called the Mitsubishi customer service to inquire if there's a possibility of that happened and was told absolutely NOT. So my advice to everyone before you call Rodenhiser for your AC/ plumbing needs find someone else . But I must say he wore a face mask and put the plastic overshoes over his boots not to mark the floor. I guess that's what they charge $69.00 for

To me, it seems that they don't want new customers, though I suspect others may defend them and this practice?  They want me to pay them $65.00, to come give me a quote on a new water heater (at least a $2,000+ opportunity for them)? Because they are a 'premium supplier'?  All other plumbers must be lousy and pale in comparison, because they don't seem to charge for this.  Being in sales, I recognize this as a sales tactic some companies use as a means of getting an unsuspecting homeowner to 'commit' prematurely to what might actually not be a good quote.  Of course, I'll never know if their pricing is in line or better than their competition.  I suggested to them that they are requiring I gamble on them being great by having to pay for the quote... turns out they'll give me $75.00 off whatever quote should it convert to work?  How about THEY gamble on themselves, if they are that great?

They charge $200 for replacing fuse inside Air handler which costs 35 cents.
They charge $450 for contactor replacement, which costs $35 online and with labor, to the extreme should not cost more than $150 dollars. The Booster is charged for $155 which comes from Home Depot in just $11. The capacitor replacement is charged by them for $350, which is usually a $10 to $25 or less device. They are super expensive and they make sure once they visit you they charge you $1000 for something which any outside licenced technician from Home Adviser or so would be charging you less than $300 or $400. To add they will tell you that default warranty on the parts they are putting in is only 90 days so buy $250 warranty from them which will be good for 2 years.  They should know that all new parts should come with a year or two or 5 year warranty by default. In summary, they will rip you off on prices. But there customer care is very soft spoken and professional.

Their job rates are exorbitant - 3 to 4 times more than regular market price. Like other reviews here, we got limited service and over charged. The person repaired a 20 year old drain stopper, the type Home Depot employees give away for free. The part should have been replaced just on principle. Rodenhiser does not give itemized estimates, the labor is not drawn out separately from parts. We ended up paying about $425. an hour labor and $5. parts for some guy to re-caulk a drain. The job was crappily done and the caulking was left uneven and messy.

BTW - Watch out for the fake 5 star reviews. What normal customer doing a review writes:

There's a very good reason why Rodenhiser, a family company founded in 1928 is still around - they provide outstanding service and exceptional quality.

This was my first experience with Rodenhiser and I was extremely impressed with my entire experience.  Marc J was my technician;  he showed up exactly on-time, completely reviewed the service I needed performed and was very personable and professional.   Once the work was completed Marc reviewed the work and left me detailed paperwork.

I was so impressed that I signed up for their annual maintenance plan.  No question, Marc and Rodenhiser get 5 Stars + for a job well done.

I want a WiFi device (FJ-IR-WIFI-1NA) for my Fujitsu Halcyon ductless mini-split system.  It's a relatively new product from Fujitsu.

I was referred to Rodenhiser by another company.  I understand that Rodenhiser couldn't sell me the device by phone / Internet (they don't sell parts, fine), but because we don't discuss pricing over the phone they couldn't even tell me how much they would charge for the device.  They would charge $95 to come out and diagnose (even though my Fujitsu system is running fine), and tell me how much they were going to charge for the device.  While they would apply the $95 to the price if I bought the device, they would keep the $95 if I decided their price was too high or I bought the device from someone else.

-Beware pricing-

I still have found Rodenheiser's customer service to be great. As stated in my earlier review, I felt they had earned my loyalty through great service, and I continued to call them when I needed help two additional times. However, I will not be calling them again.

Last week I had them come to repair a main sprinkler valve. They quoted 3x !! (no exaggeration) what we had paid last year.  Yes, unfortunately we had the same issue last year. It's hard to price compare when companies charge you $75 to come out and give you a quote. But in this case we knew exactly what we paid last year and Rodenheiser wanted 3x the amount to do the same thing. So we walked away, lost the $75 trip charge and learned a valuable lesson.

When I mentioned how much more he was quoting, the Rodenheiser plumber (who was very nice and great to work with) said We are a premium company. We charge premium prices.  I did guess that I would pay a little more but would never have dreamed 3x more.

I ended up calling a plumber based on a neighbors recommendation and  received equally great service and a reasonable price. I can't justify why such extreme price differences would be worthwhile.

We contracted Rodenhiser to do some improvements for us. Once again they have exceeded all expectations and with this company our expectations are high! The lead technician Pat B and his technician Cam H had a clearly orchestrated plan. They worked so well together and it was dovetailed perfectly by the warehouse staff showing up with equipment, electricians and a third technician, all timed perfectly. The management clearly has done a great job creating this model to help the technicians and electricians in the field and ultimately giving the customer the best experience possible. Thank you

I bought my ac / heat system from Rodenhiser. Great install team, system works ok, not as efficient as the previous installed system ( exact system, different installer ).
They've called me twice over the last two weeks asking to schedule a service. I've called them back both times. I get dumped into one of those voice prompting systems ( it's terrible ). when I finally get through the prompt and try to get a person it just keeps throwing you back into the abyss. There is no extension for the follow up they called me about? After trying this, I decide I would leave a message - and guess what both times I called their message box is full? I cant even leave a message. Frustrating system, frustrating result.
Nice people here but really this is terrible customer service.

** BUYER BEWARE ** I called Rodenhiser when I realized I had no hot water in my home.  While I knew that I needed my circulator replaced, in no way am I capable of replacing the circulator myself.  Rodenhiser assured me that this would be fixed, same day which was important to me as I have a family of six, hot water is essential.  Coronavirus awareness is at an all time high currently, showering is even more important due to this concern.  After the tech took 45 minutes assessing the situation, he found that my assumption was correct, circulator replacement was necesary.  He then told me that the places we (Rodenhiser) obtain our parts are closed today.  We don't shop at Home Depot but they may have this part.  He stated that they could come back two days later and replace the circulator for $1,080.  This part sells for $163 on Amazon and labor time is less than 30 minutes.  I asked the tech to leave as not only was I lied to about the timeline, my family is without hot water and I was to be charged almost 6 times the cost of the product.  When I asked for an explanation of the inflated, unreasonable cost, he stated, its because you get our 5 star treatment.   The tech told me that he was going to leave my circulator unhooked for safety reasons.  I asked him to hook it back up as the safety reasons were seemingly undefinable.  I called the original number for Rodenhiser back in hopes of a resolution to my problem.  They had no remedy for my situation, today my family still has no hot water.  Not only did Rodenhiser lie to me, they were inefficient.  I would think that customer service would be important to a company like this, especially when it involved hot water for a family in the middle of the winter. It would have been simple for the tech or contact person to buy this part at Home Depot or another nearby store. Not only did Rodenhiser not help this situation, they made it far worse.  If you're looking for a reliable trustworthy company to handle your electric and plumbing needs, keep looking, this isn't the place.  Oh and I was charged $70 for their visit.  ** STAY AWAY **

I don't know what happened to these people. They used to be good but this time they charged me $69 to come out and look at a sink hookup that my husband could do if he had time, and they said it would cost $700. This is a great way to make money, $69 for the trip then come up with a ridiculous estimate, then turn around and go to the next house. Never calling them again.

Ray L. came out on a Friday night emergency call to look at our hot water heater and furnace (both pilot lights were out).  Our furnace is original to the house (mid '60s), so it's a behemoth that is quite scary to even look at.

Ray did a great job of relighting the pilot on both, checking out the hot water heater and finding a leak, and giving me really good advice on the antique furnace.  Thanks, Ray!

Ray came to do our yearly PM on the 2 A/C units. He was very thorough, polite and knowledgable.
When I asked him about installing a float switch shutoff on the 2nd floor unit he had a float switch with him, quoted a reasonable price and installed it at that time.
Ray was excellent. An asset to the company.
Also all of the people I speak to in the office to set up appointments etc.are also excellent. All are very helpful, polite, patient and efficient.
We have been using Rodenhiser since we moved to Medway in 2004 and are extremely satisfied.
Thank you all

Spring in New England holds many surprises-70 degrees one day, 30 the next. We just had our 40 year old furnace replaced by a state of the art new one by Rodenhiser. The technicians couldn't have been nicer. They arrived exactly when they said they would, worked continuously, (I don't think they even stopped for lunch)   And left the basement looking better than when they started. Without being asked, they fixed a few other issues that had nothing to do with the installation. I didn't even know these issues existed. I even think I really understand everything they explained about the care and feeding of our new system, no small matter! Moe and Pat were efficient, friendly and so very neat. Now when the temperature drops lower tomorrow as predicted, we will be snug and cozy.

I am completely satisfied with the quality of Rodenhiser's products, installation, and even more impressed by the excellence of its people.

In the spring of 2011 my wife and I decided to install central A/C. We shopped around, and invited 3 companies - including Rodenhiser - to bid on the work. Rick came out, did a thorough inspection, and made a recommendation to replace the outdated heating system, in addition to installing the A/C. (Note, the other two companies also proposed updating the heating system.)

Rodenhiser was not the cheapest, but they were the best. They gave us a full menu of options, the pluses and minuses of each, and the related pricing for each option. Their offer really allowed us to get what we needed, no more, no less.

When it came time for installation and subsequent maintenance, Ryan B. was our guy. He's awesome. First of all, he actually arrives within the timeframe agreed on, and he is an absolute professional - extremely polite, very competent, and a pleasure to work with.

There's a very good reason why Rodenhiser, a family company founded in 1928 is still around - they provide outstanding service and exceptional quality.

Disappointed.  Billed for a service we called.  Were told on Friday, November 10th bill would be for visit only.  We tried to get  pricing for installation of part but person said they did not do it that way. The person has to do it when they are at the home. Seemed very shady to us so we advised them for the second day we would not have them install anything.  Just checked credit card account and billed full amount. Sunday - Nov 19th : I was promised a refund that I have not received as of yet.

I wish I could say that they were a good company to work with, but in the end AND with the amount of money I gave them to do my HVAC replacement, I did not get what I feel I paid for, or treated like I was a valued customer.   They are a premium service, and I frankly expected them to behave like one.   They sold me a multi-stage heating system, but failed to realize that the existing electronics in my home do not and would not ever support it, thus costing me more money for 0 benefit.   There was a town inspection cancelled the day before it was supposed to be held because they took their tech off the inspectors visit (presumably because they were busier elsewhere) and I was not properly notified.  Wasted a day off from work because someone needs to be there for the inspection, and no inspection.  During the install, the techs caused a leak in the water filtration system nearby, costing me more $ to finish.  Had a tech out for a yearly checkup and I asked if the humidifier could be checked, as the humidity in the house was in the single digits.  They came back to tell me that the humidifier (reconstituted from the previous system) had a bad solenoid and it would be $330 to replace.  I objected, fully expecting that it would have been checked out during the install.   I took this issue to what would be the owner Jay.   After several conversations and emails with him and others, he told me that he would gladly replace the system for another $2200.  Since then ignoring my plea to have the matter rectified.  It was at this point I called another local service to have the humidifier repaired.   After 10 minutes of troubleshooting, the tech from that service realized that the humidifier service was never installed all the way.  After connecting it properly and blowing out the water line, all is working as expected.    If you have followed me thus far, these are really only the highlights.   While I can say that I did have some people that work for the company that truly want to do a good job for the customer, they would not make up for some baffling lack of judgement and skills that clearly should be in their wheelhouse.   They are not a premium service in my book

We called Rodenhiser when our sump pump broke and our other plumber never returned our call. We've had them back about 5 times to do things from replacing every toilet we own to replacing the kitchen sink. They're amazing. Reliable, professional and consistent. I think the Atomic Clock people use Rodenhiser to verify their time - these guys are ALWAYS on time.

We've recommend them to everyone we know with plumbing. We recommend them to you, too, dear reader. You get what you pay for, and although there may be cheaper places out there, there are none as professional, reliable, courteous and, well, just wonderful as Rodenhiser.

Installed heating and air conditioning system in Dec, 2015. Heating does not work last year. They sent some one over and told us it might be Freon leaking but he cant be sure. He fill in
Freon and then told us if any leaking, we will know next year(after we are out of warranty). Well, we start to use air conditioner 3 days back. Not surprisingly, it did not work again! I called them, they told me some one will come and check 7-8 am today. I waited and waited but no one showed up at all. I called them and no one answered. I talked to online chat and asked me to call. I call again and this time a lady answered the phone, Yes, you are on the schedule and everything looks fine. They might short technician today and they might just show up between 10-1 when they have time.  I asked her how would I know they will not short of technician by then? She is like, well, I am just telling you what might happen. You decide what is best for you.  Most random and outrages answer I have heard from customer service!

No one showed up!  I had scheduled an appointment on Thursday, March 7th because one of the heating zones in my house wasn't working.  I was told that someone would be at my house between 1-4.  I left work early to get home in time for the appointment and when no one showed up by 4, I called the office and was told that the repair guy was held up at a previous job and was wrapping up - totally understandable - and I was next stop and they would definitely be there.  By 6:30 no one showed up and I received no communication from Rodenhiser.  I tried to call the office again, but they were closed for the night.  Around 8pm I get a call from a representative asking if anyone showed up for the appointment - no one did!  They offered to send someone on the following day but I had already wasted a half day waiting and wasn't willing to risk another lost day.  That same night, I called another company - Arno Plumbing and Heating - and they showed up when promised, were professional and reasonably priced.  While I understand schedules back up and things happen but to have no communication from the company and wasting a half day waiting only to have no one show up is very unprofessional.  The right thing to do if you can't accommodate an appointment is either to not schedule it at all or at least have the courtesy to give an early heads up that the appointment won't be held.  I'm very disappointed with this entire experience.

Rodenhiser's contractors and service team is exceptional; they are friendly, courteous, and take the time to answer questions and walk you through and explain their work. We live in an older house built in 1880 and needed an electrical upgrade from 60 amp fuses to 200 amp circuit breakers, and they completed the job in one day. Electricians Phil Arsenault, John Kady and assistant Andrew Rossi were very professional and respected our requests throughout the job. Additionally, we had an electric water heater installed by one of their plumbing specialists (Chris Gallagher), and were equally satisfied. We'll be calling Rodenhiser again for all our plumbing and electrical need.

Chuck and Dave installed a gas line. They were friendly, meticulous and quick. Chuck came back for the inspector and to install the new stove at a later date. He was more than willing to answer random questions about my new house's heating and cooling system while we waited. Also, everyone I spoke to over the phone was incredibly nice and helpful. They can be expensive, but I was very pleased with the service and would highly recommend the company.

Because of their colorfull, carefully thought out full page ad in the Yellow pages I called them in an emergency.  I couldn't remember which valve to  turn that would stop water from pouring out of my my walls. You had to been there.  Hysterically, I called and in a very few minutes someone arrived and shut of the valve and others that I turned on.  You don't wan to know.

My second transaction was replacing the furnace that was 10 years old.  A gentleman from the company came out and saw the Pope's Been Elected smoke and gave us the news. With some agency's help we made out alright.

Lastly the BM to end all BMs occurred and really jammed up the works to where the can wouldn't flush or respond to a plunging. Calling them to set   up an appointment for the next day, i left a message and went to sleep.

This morning my wife  says 'You can use the toilet.  You fixed it I asked. She tells me they came at 8:00, first thing.  It works.!  After my 3rd coffee she told me how much and I didn't so much as wince.  Well worth a functioning crappert. The folks at Rodenhiser Plumbing is on our Christmas Card list. Godsend Aces in my book.

Totally FRUSTRATED. Why can't customer service reps follow direction? This department right there will ruin this company all together. I initially called to get a quote to see who much it would be to repair a ceiling fan switch. I was told that it was $39 for them to come out and look at it to see if that was the issue. They would then analyze the problem and put it in writing. In the meantime, I went ahead to order a new ceiling fan incase it was more than just the switch. I tried to do the online scheduling and the system only took down my information and wouldn't allow me to book a time like the website indicates. I got 2 emails from 2 representatives telling me that I need to call and schedule the appointment. If that be the case, what is the object of the online process where it is supposed to let you book your own appointment. I call in today and got a 3rd representative who seemed very rude about the matter and not willing to work this matter out. Customer service needs to be more on top of things as we come first. Without the customers they wouldn't have jobs. I got the new ceiling fan delivered today and still have no appointment. It goes to show they aren't very motivated at what they do when it comes to customer service. Be ware of these people. It doesn't matter how much they advertise on tv or elsewhere, jobs are based on first impressions which starts with customer service. Customer service jobs are not masters degree job; they are simple data entry. Customer service needs better training and skills when dealing with customers. Another review from just yesterday, 8/29/18, feels the same way about customer service with this company. I'm not alone on this one.

Rodenhiser charged my daughter over $200 to replace a leaking (dribbling) outdoor faucet.  All that was required was a new washer on the old faucet, a 20 cent part and a few minutes of labor.  The new faucet was a) entirely unnecessary and b) way overpriced even if necessary.  Pure thievery.  Keep far, far away from Rodenhiser.

UPDATE on 2/13/14 - Rodenhiser called me today to discuss, and based on that discussion I am changing my review from one star to three.  If 2 1/2 stars was an option I would go with that.  On balance, IMHO Rodenhiser is like a Mercedes dealer or a five star restaurant - good service, very professional but absolute top dollar, at least for plumbing repairs.  That's not all bad, but maybe that's why I drive a Chrysler and don't eat at Blue Ginger - I don't need or want to pay for first cabin, when coach class will do me just fine.

Tom was incredibly thorough and to the point. He told us exactly what needed to be done and gave us options as far as what we wanted to spend and invest in our furnace repair ( service plan, repair vs. replace a part, etc.). When we told him that we were interested in oil to gas conversion within 1-2 years, he called another employee specializing in conversions and had us speak to him to answer our questions.  He also made it a point to come back to our house in the same day after the warehouse was able to get a part so that we wouldn't go without heat any longer. We couldn't have been more pleased with our experience.

Completely useless and outrageous fixed rate pricing for simple jobs.  I called Rodenhiser to install a ball valve for the water line to my whole house humidifier.  A guy arrived as scheduled, looked at the job and said he would go out to his truck to write up some options.  He returned 30 mins later with 4 options ranging from $544-$892.  I told him the pricing was ridiculous and I was going to call another plumber.  I was charged $95 for the service call to give a quote.  He didn't have the right parts on the truck to do the work that day even if I was dumb enough to pay their price.  I then called another plumber and left a message.  They returned my call within 20 mins and did the work 2 days later for $200.  I now have a new favorite plumber and will never call Rodenhiser again.

Excellent work by Joel and Bobby. Replaced a new-ish hybrid electric water heater (GE--lasted 5.5 yrs :( ) and Joel did a great job explaining the traditional water heaters had all been upgraded and running as efficiently, if not better, than the hybrid machines. We did not want to put anymore money into the hybrid at this point.  We were sold on the service plan and warranties offered by Rodenhiser, so we would not run into a repeat problem as we did with the supposed advanced hybrid water heaters, which are impossible and expensive to maintenance. Rodeniser installed a Bradford White, regionally manufactured system and took every step to ensure the plumbing, electrical and safety features were properly outfitted. The technicians were very professional and finished the job faster than what we expected. We went ahead and purchased the Jade warranty plan to have Rodenhiser provide ongoing, annual service and guarantee the water heater for 10 yrs. We are very happy with our purchase.  We would definitely recommend Rodenhiser and will use them for other services in our home if needed.

The work is really great but you will end up paying around $300 an hour.   They will send two people a plumber and an apprentice so not only are you getting gauged in price but your paying for one person to do the work and the other person to just watch.    ;Your paying for convience of getting something fixed pretty quickly and you also know your getting a a solid job but if you are patient you could save a lot of money.

Our furnace gave out last week and we hired Rodenhiser to replace it along with the AC. Of course it broke down when the temps were hovering around zero, however, Rodenhiser came to replace the furnace very soon so that we would not be without heat for too long.    We highly recommend this company and they did a great job!  James M. was the main technician along with Darin C., Pat H. and Matt.  These guys were professional, knowledgable, courteous and extremely hard and diligent workers.  They took the time to explain everything to us and answered all of our questions along the way.  We highly recommend this company!

I was working on getting estimates to run an iron pipe gas line in the basement for a dryer. Without going into too many details it was a condo needing about 30' of pipe and all of the fittings, valves, etc. $1,700!!! Bull, when they handed my mother-in-law the estimate I almost threw up. I started to call around and was present when other companies visited and the cost was magically half... literally... half. They may do good work, but I guess you'll need a male to be present for the quote which I know absolutely sounds sexist.

Had used Rondenheisers for my furnace cleaning, so when my kitchen faucet became leaky called them to fix, as they had great reviews on Angie's List. They did not make the original Wed appt, (which was a 10am-1PM) and after several back and forth calls with customer service rescheduled to a Saturday morning (and they agreed to wave the $85 additional weekend fee). When plumber arrived, he assessed the problem, went back to the truck, came back, and then proceeded to quote 4 astronomically priced options ranging from $1600 (to install their 'top of the line' Kohler faucet with a 5 year warranty) to $600 (to install the faucet I had already purchased with a 90 day warranty). When I asked for a break down of the $600 they claimed that was industry standard fixed pricing. Asked if he was including any emergency weekend fees (which cust. serv. had said they'd waive) turned out he was including the additional $85, as he said he hadn't been informed. Bottom line was even after taking the $85 of the cheapest $600 option, the cost was still astronomical and learned a valuable lesson never to go through Rodenheiser for a smaller job like this. My advice is you're much better off going through Lowe's, for $150. As it was, was still out the $75 for the truck visit, which is half of what Lowe's charges for the entire job.

**Update** Rodenheiser's is in process of reimbursing for the $75 truck visit, and will update this further once processed through.

As an update, Rodenhiser credited me back about 20% of the tab ($206.01) but they were still very expensive for the work performed.

I would never recommend this company to anyone.   We were having problems with our pool heater and I called 5 companies on Monday to see if they could help.   Rodenhiser was one that said they could help. I clearly stated what type of heater we had and they said we could do it no problem.  I also told them we were having a party on the weekend and needed it fixed by then.  No problem again, will have someone there between 1-4pm on Thurs.  I take half a day off of work to sit in my house and wait.    At about 3 I get a call saying they will be there later in window of time, so I say no problem.  At 4, I get a voice mail saying the technician is not available and by the way we can't fix that type of heater, do you want me to google it for you?   I called back and got a VM explaining how much I needed this fixed and how they said they could do it.   I did not even get a call back, they completely blew me off.

I would give these guys zero stars.  Don't use them unless you want a no show.  Terribly run business.

stay clear!!  I completely agree with previous posts - they are completely over priced (by 50%!).   We had a maintence agreement with them so when they came out this month they told us we needed a new furnace - ASAP - like turn the furnace off until its repaired.  They had a sales guy that same day.  The sales guy gave us quotes on his computer (never leaving a detailed quote behind).  As with evetythign we told him we were getting other quotes and we are SOOO glad we did.  The other quotes came in, as it turns out for the SAME equipment, at least 50% lower.  Seriously, Stay away. Now I feel like i need to let others know because we were so close to being seriously ripped off from them.

My boiler went out. Their service guy told me I had to replace the whole system. The salesman came in and gave me a$15,000 quote with a new boiler and chimney liner. I called another company and I paid $50 to get the boiler going again. All I need is a new motor.

I had a simple leaking connection in my pressure relief valve and the repairman was trying to replace my whole system! He pulls out this book with all the prices for work he could charge me. He finally gave me a price of almost eight hundred bucks! What! Just replace or just fix the single leaky joint. Told him I have to leave and get back to him for a time to start the work. I never call back. Beware of these guys.

I will say they are responsive.  In the dead of winter, they were able to come out the next day.  They gave me an estimate of $3600 to fix my burst pipes.  This seemed high so I asked them to break it down into time and materials. They could not.  They explained they did not do business that way and the priced these kinds of things according to averages.  I did not like this business model so I called around to other plumbers.  I found someone to fix my pipes for $500.

Beware..... Called Rodenhiser to replace a shut off valve - was told there was a 75.00 service fee to come out and look at the job and would be deducted from the service - seemed fair.  The tech came out and I was given 4 estimates ranging from $810.00 - 1300.00 - was told he could do the job in an hour.  I question why it was so high and never got a straight answer - their fixed pricing is NOT a fixed hourly rate plus parts.  Called another plumber while the tech was here - he came out later that day - completed the job in less than 1/2 for $285.00.

We recently had a furnace, an air conditioning unit, and a hot water heater installed in our home. We were very impressed with Rick Picard, our salesperson who was incredibly helpful. He seemed very upfront and honest, and went out of his way to make sure that all I's were dotted and T's crossed as it pertained to getting us top notch equipment and making sure that all rebates were taken care of.
Next came the installation crew. Ed Intinarelli and the crew he came to our home with can be described in 2 words, professional and personable. We spent a lot of money on this install and had a ton of questions. Ed and crew answered every question with smiles on there faces. I have worked in the trades for years and I understand that it is the small, little things that make all the difference. There is a small, bent piece of angled metal that needs removing to change our filter. Ed took the time to bend over the corner to make this piece easier to grab for removal. He also took the time to insert 5 small screws in this piece because it has a tendency to rattle and this prevents this piece from making a bunch of noise. This may seem like a small thing to some people but I look at this and understand that these are people who go above and beyond to make customers happy. In addition to that,  I can honestly tell you that they left are basement cleaner than they found it. All this done with positive, upbeat attitudes. Again, highly personable, highly professional. If we were to have Rodenhiser do installs in our home again (lets hope we don't need any installs for a while!) we would go so far as to request that the Ed Intinarelli crew were the ones who came out and did the work. We can't recommend them strongly enough.

Great job by Ryan M at Rodenhiser! Very polite, professional and thorough. The average customer knows little or nothing about their HVAC system, which necessitates a high level of trust with their service provider. I heard good things about Rodenhiser through a neighbor, and was impressed with this initial spring service call. Fingers crossed there are no issues that necessitate a mid-season callback...but I'm confident that Rodenhiser would be there and up-to-the-task if I needed assistance in a hurry. Otherwise, I'll look forward to the heating maintenance in the fall!

We had a central line blockage in our plumbing.  When I couldn't reach the company my usual plumber recommended, I tried Rodenhiser.  They came and told me I had a central line blockage, which I already knew.

They quoted a price of $1,050 to clear.  I thought this was extremely expensive.  When I complained about the expense they offered a $50 off coupon.  I did some quick research and decided to find another plumber.  I paid their $75 call fee and they left.  I finally got in touch with the service my plumber had recommended.  Within 90 minutes they had arrived and cleared the blockage for $265.

I guess this isn't exactly a scam, but it is designed to prey on people who don't know any better when they are facing a situation requiring immediate attention.  Charging 4x the standard price is unconscionable.

i called rodenhiser and set up a appt last week for a quote on a new system in a huge garage, i was told ross would be here @ 1:00 today and also received a email stating exactly the same with a picture of ross. it is now 2pm, just spoke to nicole, she told me that ross had a emergency and would not be able to be here today. he left me a message of which i never received. i am totally in disbelief that we have been waiting around for ross who is never going to show up. i have to laugh, you say customer service is #1... i certainly did not feel that way.
i will not recommend you to anyone...

We switched to Rodenheiser this year because we believed they were highly reputable and dependable. I was willing to dismiss the simple mistake when the technician forgot to turn the system back on after tuning up the heating system in the spring (which was long and cold, so yes the heat was still running).  My disappointment came this evening when the cold weather set in and only cold air is being returned through my air vents.  Hmmm.  I called for service and was informed because we didn't have a service agreement (believed we did) they didn't have an opening for 5 days (forecast is 29 degrees over next 4 nights):  clearly they don't stand behind their work.  Oh, and even if I had a contract, I was informed there isn't anyone who can service  an oil burner on duty anyways so we'd still (SOL) have no service.  I will be shopping for another HVAC provider in the morning.  Hopefully we'll have heat before Monday (review written on a Wednesday night). Gotta Go; time to throw more wood on the fire.

Reserved, polite, on time.  Insultingly expensive - $1000 to install two steam radiators. I called them because they told me last year that if I got a radiator they would install it for $250-300.   It seems $300+$300+1year = $1000.   There goes my $75.

We used Rodenhiser twice this week.  Once to fix a pipe in our guest bath and once to try and fix a central a/c unit.  They did a great job with the pipe and I feel dissatisfied the a/c work, where they misdiagnosed the problem, charged me for an unnecessary R22 re-charge (over 500 dollars), then finally diagnosed the problem as a failing fan motor when that did not work.  I would be less irritated if I had not told the technician  the fan was a problem at the start.  The good news is that they came quickly in both instances.  I also asked for a quote to replace the unit.  When I told them that I wanted to do a competitive bid they declined to give me an exact quote and said they wanted to come out last after I had other bids.   I am not going to use them at all

Okay, so you call and they explain there is a $75 fee for the technician to come out whether the service is done or not. Once he arrives he explains there is flat pricing and looks on his pricing sheet and shows you that for a no frills garbage disposal (highest online price $159) the price for the disposal and installation is $599! So if a customer can't afford it, Rodenhiser still gets its $75 and if a customer can afford it and says screw it - they're here and we need it done they pay what works out to be the outrageous rate of $450/hour. We have used a union plumbing shop who charges $115/hour (unfortunately they were not available) and will do any other jobs if it doesn't take the full hour. Rodenhiser is perfectly happy it took only 20 minutes because then the poor technician has to try to sell a maintenance plan so you get 20% off today's work but then pay $20 a month for basic plan. I assume they use the word technician because their employees are not actually plumbers. The sad part of this brilliant business plan is they gouge the poor for the $75.

*UPDATE*
John, the general manager reached out to me regarding the issues I had with our whole experience. I will say that I appreciate their effort to rectify the situation, and I do think that they do put emphasis on customer service. John was apologetic and offered us a credit, and I am pleased with the outcome in the end. I really appreciate that he took the time to listen to me and understand my point of view.

I had to place an emergency call the day after thanksgiving, as we can home thanksgiving night to no heat. They sent a tech out and he arrived within the window an was pleasant, however, the dispatcher neglected to tell me their warehouse was closed on Friday and thru the weekend so if our repair needed a part it wasn't happening until Monday at best.  I had to pay the  $157  emergency diagnostic fee, and that was when I was given pricing options and informed the repair wasn't happening this weekend. I grudgingly agreed to the ridiculously overpriced quote, I was give 3 options, you have to PURCHASE A WARRANTEE, it is not included. I agreed because I was already in for $157, and ended up having to wait until late this  afternoon for the service tech to come because apparently the parts were on back order. He arrived and was pleasant and had or hat running in about 1 hour and 15 minutes. When I expressed my frustration over paying over 1k after having been without heat for 5 days, and he was only hear for less than 2 hours, his response was he was sorry he is good at his job. He would not tell me how much the parts were though, said he doesn't know that he gets his work order, picks up his parts and does the job. These people may be good at what they do, but they are ridiculously overpriced, and not forthcoming what so ever. He pointed out my unit is so old that this is probably just the beginning of things that need repair. The option of replacing the unit was never discussed with me initially, or perhaps I would have considered that route instead. Bottom line, I will NEVER use them again (except of something comes up under the warrantee I purchased) and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone, unless you have gold lined pockets.

I called them on a Sunday for a leak in a pipe in my basement. The reason I called them was because their website says they have 24 hour / 7 day service. They said they couldn't come out at all until Wed. Don't know how good they are, but they shouldn't advertise what they can't deliver.

This review is solely based on the recent quote I got from Ryan. He seems very knowledgable and has a great sense of construction. His customer service skills are outstanding and it was a pleasure meeting him. The only reason I did not give him a perfect rating was because he is extremely expensive. Outbidded my two other bidders by almost 8 thousand dollars; although I'm sure this company would have done a fantastic job.  Oh yea by the way, the equipment brand they use is really good so I guess that has to be taken into consideration.

I would give Rodenhiser 10 stars if it were possible!  We have been using Rodenhiser to service our furnace and AC for the past 7 years and recently just had a huge job - replacing the entire HVAC system including adding new vents - and the team of people who have been helping us has been amazing. Starting with Bianca, our technician, and Brian Heno, the professional who spent all day here installing our new furnace, and Rick Picard, who has advised us throughout this entire process.  You know, its really bad news when your furnace and AC break at the same time, but the folks at Rodenhiser actually made this into a pleasurable experience for us, helping us get 0% financing and talking us through the rebates available from the state of MA.  Rick has even returned phone calls and emails as late as 10pm (and stayed at our house that late on another night) to answer questions.  We recommend them for all of your needs, and we will be lifetime customers! Thank you, Rodenhiser!

First, don't trust the reviews on their website. Five star is misleading. They claimed they have five star review. Actually, they are way less than that. I called their service number to fix a noisy heating system. After a quick check, they gave me three options. Not suppressingly, the most expensive one is to replace the whole heating systme with a brand new one. I opted that out. So, they replaced three old parts and drained the water out and refilled it back after that, and charged me around $900 bucks. However, that didn't fix the noise problem at all after they left. So, I called them again. This time, an enginer checked the sytem and told me the noise was normal. However, he claimed that there was a safety problem, and if I didn't change it, he would turn off the heating. So, I was forced to accept a MUST-Do repair, replacing the aquastat, and charged me $500 for that small device ( I later checked online, and found it is less $100 bucks) and less than half hour installation.

But, that still couldn't sovle the initial noise problem. So, I called them AGAIN. This time, another engineer checked the system and told me, the noise was NOT normal, and it was one of the noisiest heating systems he ever met. He also found that the previous engineer made a big mistake and caused some SAFTETY issue. He promised to sovle the safety problem and he did it in another appointment. But for the noise problem, one of his options (the other was to replace it with brand new system) was to clean the internal of the heater, which would cost $1400 bucks, and couldn't ensure it will be fixed.

WHAT? why couldn't they find this problem from the begining? Only after I already spent $1400, they told me I need to pay another $1400 to fix it. This is rediculous. I refused their plan. And I would rather to keep a noisy system instead of paying for uncertain result.

So, my conclusion is: they don't consider for customer at all, and they charge people with crazy OVER PRICE. And finally, they don't have enough expertise to find the problem. Stay away from them and save your mooooooony and time for a better service provider.

what a shame I didn't read Yelp before committing to Rodenhiser.  the techs for the most part are fine, but clearly some are on a hefty commission.  the biggest problem, as others have stated, is the abominable communication between the office and the techs and the office and the customer.  sometimes they call to say the tech is on the way (and he may or may not actually be on the way) and sometimes they just show up.  they always arrive well past the stated window, apparently the office does not tell the tech when they were supposed to arrive they just shove as many people as possible on the schedule. and they are EXPENSIVE. as soon as my 'service contract' - what a misnomer that is, I get nothing for it including service - is up I will be very glad to bid goodbye to them. I know there are other plumbers, HVAC's and electricians in the area who have fairer pricing and much better service.  very disappointing!!

Similar to reviews below, we had a great first experience with the Master Electrician that installed the connection to our house from our new hot tub. We began having issues shortly after the installation - it took 4 days for someone to come to the house to do nothing, assured us our hot tub was working fine and to call them if the problem occurs again. It happened again this week and we have to wait 5 days for someone to come to the house again after we took an afternoon off to wait for the technician to come to the house. We were told at 330 by their dispatch that they are not sending staff on anymore calls. This company does a great job on your initial call but HORRIBLE service afterwards. We signed up for the maintenance agreement thinking that would get us faster and better service and boy are we wrong - just another way for this company to collect unnecessary money from home owners. Do not recommend.

STEER CLEAR OF RODENHISER

I would highly recommend that anyone who owns a house talk to people in their neighborhood and get a personal referral to reputable master plumber.  I own a rental property out off of 495 and have used Rodenhiser twice but now have found other options that are far better.

The main issue with Rodenhiser is not the actual work.  They do fix what they say.  The main problem is the cost.  They are easily 30-40% more expensive that an other top notch master plumber.  The techs come out to your house look at the problem and then point you to some arbitrary price in the book.  And they themselves have no idea how the prices are actually set.  The mark up on the parts is obscene as well as the actual labor.

My most recent experience was a hot water repair.  The tech suggested installing a new electric hot water heater.  Two problems, one he suggested a 50 gal tank which would NEVER work for that property and two, he quoted a price of $2000 installed.  I quickly called around and most other reputable plumbers were in the $1200-1400 range, installed.

The other issue I have found is the techs are constantly trying to up-sell.

UPDATE

of course a day after the oil tech supposedly fixing the problem the hot water heater locked out again.  I called first thing Saturday morning and spoke to the customer service person and they said that repair would not be covered under their 90 warranty period.  I informed them that on the two other occasions that I had Rodenhiser out to do work, a 90 day warranty was always the norm.  The customer service rep said that the oil tech told me it would not be covered under the warranty prior to doing the work.  THIS WAS NOT THE CASE!  Then she said that they could not get an oil tech out there anyway to look at it because he is off on the weekends....So my tenants would be without hot water all weekend.

She said that the tech said I should jut put in a new tank anyways...so they charged $600+ to fix something, which they would not stand behind at all and they  wanted to sell me a new tank for $2k...so a total of $2600k+...

Horrible customer service and their prices are very high. I reached out to them to quote service in a multi-unit building. They kept telling me they would call me back, but never did. I ended up talking to them 4 times only because I was the one to call each time. They clearly don't want your business and don't try to accommodate their customers at all. I would not call this company again. To replace a flex pipe that connect to gas stove, this company was going to charge 379.99$ (just for the labor, and I was told this is their standard rate for replacing a fex pipe. I provided the new flex pipe). It was not an emergency, and the appointment was after 3 days when I called.Another company quoted 200$ including the material. Since the house rented to a tenant, and had already waited for a few days to get it replaced, and I felt like being blackmailed.  Remember a completely new gas stove costs about 500$. I would not call this company again. Ridiculous.

November 2013 I had called them to install air condition. The representative came and present the new heating air conditioning system and went on how much I will save on my oil bill which it will coast me 24k with one thermostat and if I want to add another one it will coast 2k more . Never explain how important to have another one to control the temperature up and down. I though it was very expensive 24k for the system but also I believe you get what you pay for. One year later
1- my electric bill four times more than before and my house always very cold, when I called the tech said because I have only one thermostat, there no connection between the thermostat it came with the new system and my old thermostat down stairs and they should install the new one down stairs not up. Who you believe??
2- my oil bill stay the same
Last-night I had called because I had no heat upstairs, they want to charge me $95 diagnose fee and $85 emergency fee because i do not have a service plan I didn't hear about.
Great customer service, tech came 8:00 PM and look at it, they need to order engine fan, we are talking about one year old system it coast me 24k
And he switch the thermostat from system in control to hot water only and assure me I will have heat till he order the part. 11:00 PM no heat upstairs , called get same customer service keep saying sorry and she will get in touch with the tech and get back to me. She called back saying that she's sorry my thermostat is gone and I need a new one and I have to stay with no heat at 9 temperature outside.
When the tech came at 8pm it was only the engine fan and 11 pm without coming back my thermostat is  gone. We had to sleep on the floor downstairs because luckily we have heat downstairs. Absolutely Ridiculous. Never recommend them. I will use them till the warranty is over.
I will let you know how long will be sleeping on my living room down stairs.

I called Rodenheiser several months ago upon the recommendation of a friend.  I am giving them 3 stars because they returned my phone call and came out during a hurricane for a non-emergency fix of a leaking valve on my hot water heater.  The technician was pleasant and made the repair in 10 minutes. I was charged over $250 for this 10 minute repair!  Luckily, I had a coupon.  In addition, he spent at least 40 minutes writing out the estimates for this repair and a few other minor issues that I asked him to look at.  The prices were outrageous!!  He looked in a master book for the set costs with no parts or labor break down.  Over $400 to repair a kitchen faucet!  Yikes!  No thank you.  Unfortunately, I will not be using them again.

The maintenance guy called the sales guy and he was there the same afternoon.  Quoted us $14k for a new furnace and AC which he showed on PowerPoint, leaving no details behind.  Luckily we thought to get another quote - from accurate and the price was $5k less!!!  And accurate left us all the details.  I do NOT recommend this company!!

EXTREMELY unhappy with this company at the moment.  I have used Rodenheiser for the past couple of years, mainly for heating problems, and found them very expensive but adequate.  However, for a clogged kitchen sink, someone came out and spent three hours here and cut a hole in my basement ceiling but finally told me he could not fix the clog.  He said he wouldn't charge for his visit; well, great, now I have a hole in my ceiling that must be fixed (he also dripped black grease on my carpet).  As for the clog, I called Roto Rooter the next day and they fixed it within an hour LESS THAN HALF the price Rodenheiser had quoted me.
