I usually write a review when it was either a very very bad experience or it was beyond excellent (since I work in customer service field I have strict standards).

I'm not the type of customer who won't know anything or what to do...I am pretty handy myself due to knowing how to do my research to know how to do it yourself or find a business that best fits my needs, quality expectations, and budget. This time around I couldn't take care of the issue myself alone. At first I had called another plumber to get an consultation on fixing/replacing the shower's constant leaking/low water pressure. The first plumber came to check what I needed done. After he inspected things he gave an estimate pretty north of my budget and a list of other things I needed to get done as well. Now I maintain things around my house regularly where I'm checking if everything is in good working order...but the way he talked to me made me feel like I don't take care or am capable of taking care of anything at all. Having been treated in such a manner in my own home made me decide I did not need this guy's services.

I was still in need of having the problem fixed. As I started my search for another plumber I was on the phone with a friend of mine whom recommended Giovanni. Immediately I googled San Jose Drain and Main as well as came to yelp. I read the reviews and decided to give him a call and boyyy am I glad I listened to my friend as well as all the reviews here on yelp.

Giovanni asked me a few questions to get an idea of the problem I was facing. He was very pleasant to talk to and was very very patience with my 'I'm already pissed and annoyed due to someone' attitude haha. After he got all the info from me He gave me the window of time he did not have an appointment (yes, it was the same day). Coincidentally that window worked for me and everything was set. Once Giovanni got to my house he showed very kind attitude and respect towards me/my house; He took off his shoes by the door when he first entered (maybe due to noticing all the shoes were by the door or on the rack or I, myself, wasn't wearing any shoes/slippers). Once he checked out the bathroom he, with a very straight forward attitude, told me the cost to fix it and I was very surprised (since I had gotten a much higher $ amount) It was very well within my budget and couldn't believe he was working around my budget/needs. We agreed and he went to work. He had everything he needed with him in his vehicle. He was very quick and took care of the problem with high efficiency and in short period of time. As he was working I was there to see what he was doing/how he was doing it (learning experience) as well as having a conversation with him. I asked him questions in relation to plumbing and about the issues the first plumber had told me about. He answered and explained everything in detail. After the job was done he cleaned up not only the mess due to the work he was doing but he even cleaned the vanity which he didn't even use.

For his excellence in his field of work, AMAZING customer service, respectful attitude, and having that very open and friendly personality I recommend Giovanni to not only my family and friends but to anyone who's looking for great quality work that works with your budget and that AWESOME customer service that's quite rare to find these days. I promise you that you'll remember those days where getting amazing customer service was something normal and He's the type of person who you'll want to call every time there's a plumbing issue; just like you go to a certain restaurant or pub or store because you feel at ease/comfortable.

EJ Plumming was great!!  Super professional both on the phone and in person. Eric came over and he was the best - friendly, thorough, and professional.  He arrived on time, kept me informed at all steps, and then solved our clogged kitchen and washer pipes.  He doubled checked everything worked, and made sure we happy.  He even gave advice on other plumming-related questions!  This was my first experience with EJ Plumming, and they definitely made me loyal.

Any plumbing issue I call Handy rooters. Very honest, quick and reliable. Always gives the right guidance and advice. Once I had a under concrete water leakage, everyone gave me very high quotes to fix it, and this guy was the one who gave me very reasonable rates.
I will definitely recommend him any day.

I tried to replace my shower cartridge.   But after I took it apart I realized that I may not be able to finish the job.  After contacting several other plumbers, I came across Michael.   He responded immediately and asked me to send him pictures of the project.  He encouraged and walked me through on how to fix it.  He even showed me the trick to file down the part to make it fit!  With his encouragement I was able to replace the cartridge.   I can't imagine anyone else would take his time to talk and show potential customer like he did. I would definitely call Michael again, and the next time I will have to make sure he comes out and not to give free advise!

Kitchen sink clogged after Christmas dinner. Called Local Rooter Plumbing this morning and they came right out. David came out, assessed our problem and fixed our clog in 35 mins. Great people who know their work. Thank you!

I called AAA plumbing about issue with the toilet water tank.  Khan the owner came at the scheduled time and very professional and friendly.  He fixed my tank issue less than half an hour and was reasonable with the service price.  Will do business again.  Thank you Khan!

Drain Master's are the best Plumbers in the South Bay! And I'm not just saying that because there my neighbors! Seriously folks... If you have plumbing problems Drain Masters are the ones to call! Prompt, professional and reasonably priced! Thanks Edward!

tl;dr; This review is mostly about the logistics of how this business runs, and not on the quality of their work, which I don't have experience with. Estimates for simple jobs are free but the estimator cannot do any work (dispatch a technician for that at minimum $135, so if you know you want to give them business, just make a tech appointment outright knowing you'll pay $135 at a minimum), and the free estimate doesn't include estimates for bigger jobs (like repiping, requires a tech to go under the house for that estimate, so $135 for the trouble, I guess).

I had a galvanized irrigation pipe crack open last night. I managed to patch it myself (temp fix) so I could turn the water back on, but messing with the main water shut off valve made it start leaking. It was 10pm on a Sunday at that point so we routed the slow leak to the lawn with a tarp overnight, and I messaged a few plumbers including Water Quality Plumbing, to get an estimate of cost and time to come out.

I talked to Marty on the phone this morning about the problem. They dispatch an estimator separately from actual technicians (different appointment types, I think) -- estimate is free, but technician visits are $120 minimum + $15 trip fee ($135 + parts). An estimate would require dispatching a technician separately after the fact, but the leak sounded like maybe he could just tighten something on the spot with the free estimate. He was able to fix the leak -- woohoo! -- and gave me a scope of work he recommended for the unused but still active galvanized irrigation line that we had patched, $135 + parts. I had a second plumber lined up for an estimate as well. They offered $195 and I haggled them down to $175 with the counter-estimate, but they added their work comes with 1 year warranty on parts+labor. I called up Water Quality Plumbing's office to quickly get their warranty -- only 30 days. Combine that with the fact that the 2nd plumber was ready right then and there to fix it, I went with them.

I may hire Water Quality in the future to do some copper repiping. I would have liked to have Marty inspect my pipes under the house for recommendations + estimate, but estimator appointments don't do that? He said I'd have to have a technician out to go under the house for that ($135). The other plumber who came and estimate + fix right on the spot popped under my house for me to give me a quick assessment and recommendation -- Local Rooter & Plumbing. I have an estimate from them (for free, though they got my business already), so it's too bad I'd have to pay $135 to get an estimate from Water Quality Plumbing (which could be the same, and then I paid an extra $135 for the trouble!)

Anyway, Marty was very courteous and knowledgable (and he tightened the main line shut off valve for me no-charge, my main rave about him), but the logistics of their company are not ideal if you need same-day estimate + work (without paying the $135 just to be told a job costs X more than you thought).

It is sometimes difficult to decide who to call for competent work.  With so many choices I picked Vic because I figured his name is on his company, so his reputation is on line.  I called Vic because we were having water drainage issues with kitchen and laundry tub.  He showed up on-time and worked through a perplexing problem requiring snaking multiple drains due to the existing additions on our house.  This required Vic to spend more time than expected, but he was determined to solve our stopped laundry tub drain problem.  During this, Vic was balancing other customers that were requesting his service.  He never lost his patience and everyone was happy (I always lose my patience when attempting plumbing!).   His prices are fair, he will complete the job, and great customer service.  I highly recommend Vic and will use him for my future plumbing needs.

called him on monday at 4:PM he said he could come by on Tues between 7:30 and 8:00 AM this morning he was here at 7:30 looked at our problem and had it cleared by 8:00 AM no upsale just fact our main drain had build up because never cleaned I now have his name and # in my contact's would highley recommend him thank you Santos for your prompt work and honesty

Kevin came to unclog the drain. Right after they left I checked and the drain was still not completely unclogged and I called him  right away. Kevin sent someone to look into it and they were able to completely resolve the issue. Five stars for accountability.

Making a decision to repipe my home is tough. I have been dwelling on the idea for over 6 months, and after getting 5 estimates from various contractors, I was flustered and still cannot make up my mind. But after speaking with George from All Pipes Plumbing, I made my decision right on the spot. His experience, knowledge, honesty and sincerity got me totally convinced that he is the right man for the job (not to mention that his bid is also the lowest). He did not promise to finish the job in one day, which I am always skeptic about the quality of the workmanship. George is a perfectionist, and rather do the job right than to rush through it. He also came up with very innovative ways to replace the old pipes without cutting up any of my walls. Not only did George did what he promised, but also went above and beyond his responsibility (including removing 2 dead rats and a dead cat from the crawlspace, and found the source of my rodents infestation). The quality of his work is so good that the final inspection took only 30 minutes (from other reviews, I found that some repipe jobs require multiple visits from the inspector). George knows the codes very well, and did everything that is expected before the inspection. I am so happy with my experience that I already have a few projects lined up for Georg, such as installing a sewer clean-out and replacing the indoor drain lines (another potential problem). Thanks to the raving reviews from Yelp and NextDoor, I am very happy to have found a plumber for all seasons!

Ivan has done many plumbing jobs for us. Particularly since our house is almost 100 years old, sometimes he needs to find creative solutions!  He is very talented, always professional, and great to work with.

Alex to the rescue again, our hot water heater was leaking. Within a day, he managed to come by and replace it with a brand-new Bradford White.

As always, Alex arrived on time, completed all work within 2 hours and cleaned-up. Quality job!

We had to replace our water heater. It's a power vent type. These are not easily available at your local Lowe's.

I called around several plumbing places to get quotes for the water heater + installation. SPS Plumbing was the best with their quick response, service over the phone, and price.

During the day of the installation, their technicians let me know when they will be arriving. They did an excellent job.

Cardinal Plumbing Solution has saved me big time! My water heater was not working so I called in and had two previous plumbers come in to take a look to see what they could do. I would highly recommend Charley's Plumbing. My Dad had a  faucet leak situation and  desperately needed a plumber. Charley answered phone promptly and was able to give me a price quote... not only was he the most reasonable of the 10 quotes I got, his follow through was excellent. He was able to get out and fix it within hours! Very personable and highly skilled. Very satisfied with the job and his attention to detail like cleanup and wearing booties to keep my floors clean!
