Ok just to preface, this was a few months ago so the timeline may not be 100% accurate, but I think I'm pretty close... The point is, some things were not done in what we perceived to be a timely manner.
We were really excited to use Water Qualify Plumbing for some fixes on our first house, as they had great reviews on Yelp and our initial experience was awesome. Unfortunately, however, the Meh. I've experienced better. description of the 2-stars in Yelp is accurate.
Issue: Hot water would be hot for about 5 minutes, then would go lukewarm. Also, leakage by the handle as determined by our house inspection.
What we thought the solution should be after talking with people at Conleff Plumbing Supply: To replace the shower things through cutting a hole in the back.
The good: Our plumber came out and was awesome! He was on time and went above and beyond. We thought for sure the issue was with the actual handle, but alas, he replaced that and it still was going hot and then lukewarm! He determined the issue was at our actual water heater, where there was some sort of valve installed that was (A) installed the wrong way (vertical instead of horizontal) and (B) unnecessary? So he said it would be best to just cut it out and put in regular piping. So he did that and ta-da! No more problems there! Then, we also asked him to take a look at our dishwasher since again, in the house inspection, they said it was weird because they couldn't tell where the water went out.
The not-so good: He couldn't determine where the dishwasher drained, so I guess that became a forgotten issue, but he did notice that our insta-hot tap was leaking. He looked at it and told us that the unit was really nice and it would be worth replacing the broken part (filter or something?) rather than replace the entire system. He said he would take the system with him and look up the part, order it, and then come back and re-install. Well, a few days turned into a week and we called to follow up. They found that the filter we needed wasn't allowed in California (it allowed too much lead or something) so we needed to replace it with an entire new system. We asked if we could possibly get the filter in another state and then they could install it. They said no, which we understood since we didn't want them to be liable for anything, so they offered to replace it with a completely new system for a little less than what the fix would have cost initially. We said that was fine, so they said they would research it for us. Well, a few more days turned into a week or so and we called again to follow up. They brought someone out right away to install the new unit, but didn't return our old Franke system. We asked the new guy and he didn't know what we were talking about but would ask the office to ask our previous plumber. He installed the new system and it was, again leaking. It was just a busted gasket or something, but they had to come out again the next day to replace that. Of course, with no information on our old system.
Bottom line, never got the old system back, but over the course of several weeks, got everything fixed. We know we probably couldn't use the old system, but it was still ours and we would have liked to at least heard about it. Maybe it needed to be disposed of properly and they were actually doing us a favor? We'll never know, but would like to.
I think just the delay in response and need to follow-up many times was annoying. If they promised to call us back, it usually didn't happen in a timely manner so we had to continue to call them. Sorry guys, although the initial experience was good and everything was eventually fixed, due to the lack of return of our initial property and poor communication, we will be looking elsewhere the next time we have plumbing needs :(
