We had previously renovated our home with a terrible contractor. There were so many issues, but the main one that we asked Charles to come out was to repair one of our 2nd floor toilets was never connected to the sewage drain, and another line had just begun leaking too.

Charles was through, explained the process to us, and even checked other parts of the house to tell us what needed to be corrected now and what could wait for another day because of funding and we were expecting our baby soon.

Charles is professional and very responsive. I had a leaky single handle shower valve. Another plumber solution was to replace the entire valve assembly by cutting the pipes around it. Very $$$. Charles came in, diagnosed the problem correctly as the back end of the valve assembly, replaced it and bingo, problem solved.

Charles came through for us despite his busy schedule. It's no wonder he's so busy considering his easy going personality and the wealth of knowledge he brings. We had hot water flow issues in a tub and shower. Charles responded to my inquiry within a few minutes and scheduled to come out the next day fitting me in between other work he had scheduled already. The price was very reasonable and he also took a look at our water softener and water heater at the same time. Will definitely be calling him back for any plumbing issues in the future.

My very old water heater began leaking this past weekend. I contacted Charley who was very responsive, and we were able to identify that the water heater needed to be replaced over text/photos. Just a couple days later, he replaced it, working fairly late, all for a competitive price. He also diagnosed an unrelated minor issue in the process and gave me some advice about maintenance that was helpful. All in all, another job well done.

I am a newer customer to Charley's Plumbing, and I have been very impressed with his plumbing services (two water heater replacements, two faucets' installations, misc. troubleshooting). He always messages me back and makes it to my house in Santa Clara on the day when I call. Furthermore, he has always given me the price for the work needed before he starts, which is wonderful. For the water heaters' replacement project- he was professional, reliable and knowledgeable. Starting with a phone consultation, Charley asked very pertinent questions: such as for photos of the existing water heaters, model type, the location of venting, and stand dimensions. He thoroughly explained minor installation modifications needed to get the replacements up to local codes and completed the install within a few days.

I had another plumbing company come over and fix a pinhole leak in my shower pipes, but realistically they didn't solder the pinhole just put a spot weld..they also recommended to me to replace 12ft of pipes because the condos water has been eating away the pipe(ok fair enough) something didn't sit right with me so I spoke to Charles and he came over to us and corrected the problemy pipes did need to get redone but it was only 5ft of pipes not 12..he saved me over $1,000 with his honesty..I value that big time..he has earned my respect and my money..they we're quick clean and professional nothing much more you can ask for. Very lucky to have found Charley and Mat as our go-to plumbers! We just bought a house, and Charley and Mat went above and beyond fixing the issues we had. They also installed new toilets and a dishwasher for us as well, and let us know what to look out for to catch potential future issues early on. Friendly, professional, knowledgeable, and honest. Bonus: they were really great about putting on shoe covers (and taking them off before going back outside). Most other contractors/delivery people I had to explicitly ask first, but Charley and Mat came with shoe covers ready. As someone who cannot stand having shoes in the house, this is something I greatly appreciate. Cannot recommend them enough!

Charleys Plumbing is incredible!  He is the only plumber I trust to do anything in my home. Most recently we had some kind of leak and we didn't know where or what. We were having issues with getting hot water in one of our showers and Charley was recommended by our electrician. When I initially called him, he somehow found the time to fit us in that day and evaluated the situation. He determined that it was the valve and he also suspected that it might be under warrantee (which it was!). This is beyond admirable for a contractor to display such an ethical business approach. As we were waiting for the valve to arrive we experienced another issue with our tankless water heater. We had no hot water in any of our bathrooms. He came out right away and solved the problem for us. He is responsive, efficient, smart, honest and just an all around decent human. I can not recommend him highly enough. A seriously decent and good guy.

I sent a text to them one morning. I got a very fast reply. With questions asked he had a good idea of my problem. Turns out I was close to one of his apts that day. He came by and was able to fix my problem.

They are friendly, very knowledgeable and what I like most was they didn't try to tell me that I needed to have additional work done that did not need it.

Beyond a 5 -star experience! I had a water heater problem and called Charley's Plumbing. Everything was fast and convenient from communicating on google and yelp to communicating on the phone. The response time was extremely reassuring and the arrival time was even better! Charles came out within 30 minutes at around 8pm in the evening. The same day service after hours was much appreciated. Charles was able to diagnose and fix the problem on the spot. Very skilled plumber with a ton of knowledge. This is the second time I've used Charley's plumbing in the past year. Also had a sewer problem in willow glen at a different house and Charles came out committed to taking care of the problem. They replaced an old sewer line in few days. What stood out to me was how clean they kept the job site. An honest hardworking company in my opinion. The quality of the work is parallel to none. My faucet over the bathtub was broken. Call many plumbers on yelp with no luck.  I guess it is because it is Saturday. Suddenly, I remembered Charley and Mat who had fix my faucet in the kitchen before. Charley called back in minutes. He said he is available in a hour. He texted me on his way and let me know he will be here in 30-40 minutes. He arrived in the timeframe he promised. He only repaired what was necessary, without replacing the whole faucet and valve as other plumber suggested, which would have costed a lot more. Charley quoted a price which is very reasonable, I think by just repairing  what was broken instead of installing a new one  costed him more effort, he did not charge me more than his original quote.  Every time, Charley fixed something, he let us know what to look out for to catch potential future issues early on. I called Charleys and described the problems of my Moen kitchen faucet leak. Charles immediately told me he would pick up parts and come to fix in about 45min. When he could not get the parts, he called me and told me he would try another place. He kept me posted until he got the part and told me when he was coming. When found that the cartridge was loose, he checked the cartridge and didn't find anything wrong. He tightened the old one and fixed it without charging me for the new cartridge he bought for me. His charge is very reasonable. He really wants to fix things for you.

Charles Saulus was amazing. I called 3 other local businesses to fix my hydronic pancake (or taco) heat exchanger when we discovered the heat no longer worked in our home. All 3 businesses said they couldn't even find someone with the expertise to diagnose the problem, let alone fix it - including the company who installed it! Charles came to our home, listened to me, and immediately diagnosed the problem as an air lock in the heat exchanger's pump. In 30 minutes, our heat was back on. He explained every step to me and clearly was head-and-shoulders above his competition with his expertise in plumbing and HVAC. I will call on Charles again for HVAC or plumbing issues and I recommend him to you unconditionally.

Both Charley and Matt are great plumbing professionals.  I need to install water softener in San Jose.  Got 3 quotes.  Other 2 asked me to install their systems which cost over $4500 but couldn't even tell me why their systems worth so much more than Home Depot's .  Yet Charley recommended me Fleck water softener, and told us where to get it for about $850 only.  While I am still waiting for FedEx to deliver parts, they fixed my kitchen drain, bath tub hot water issue, garden faucet.  Charley even noticed and informed us a pipe issue that we didn't even know. He fixed the issue very quickly.  They are very honest and professional.  Can't wait to have Charley and Matt come back to install water softener once FedEx deliver it.

We called Charles to come out and look at our toilets at our commercial building.  Our landlord, and San Jose Water Co. had told us that the water bill was very high.  The meter was turning way faster than it should be, and it might have to do with a bad flapper valve or leaky toilet.  So Charles isolated which toilet it was by running se simple tests, and come to find out that a few toilets needed new flappers and fill valves.
Charles and his helper new exactly what to do and how to do it.  They had got the necessary parts and had done the repair a fair amount of time.

Wow.  This guy makes you feel good when he arrives.  First of all - super knowledgeable.  Second, although very knowledgeable, there is not an upsell - just straightforward this is what is wrong and this is how to fix.

Third, he is thorough.  I have two tankless water heaters, he fixed the first and then inspected the second.  Awesome!

I had an issue with a leaking pipe in the wall to my master bath shower. Charley and Matt came out and were very engaging, and answered all my questions. Unfortunately, they found the problem was larger than I had realized. Charley immediately had other solutions though they would need to return the next day. They clamped off the pipe to prevent further damage.

What I really appreciated about their service is, later I started having other questions. I emailed him (a bit late) and I was surprised how quickly he emailed back. He answered my queries clearly. He never made me feel bad for asking.

The next day they showed me what they were thinking. I was concerned that in fixing it properly as proposed, how would it look removing the two old knobs in the shower? Would it look very patched?  Well, he had thought of that. He picked a nice fixture with a large enough face plate that covered the old connection points in the tile. Honestly, it looks really nice now as if it was there all the time.

As we are all still dealing with COVID-19, it was nice that Charley and Matt both wore their masks, they had shoe coverings to minimize any dirt on their boots. Those little touches reminded me that they are aware of all aspects of working in people's home.

I will definitely keep Charley's card for any future plumbing issues I have.

I would highly recommend Charley's Plumbing for any plumbing, piping, installs, etc. I had them install a new kitchen sink, faucet, and garbage disposal, as well as change out the cartridges in my bathrooms. Both Charles and Mat are extremely knowledgeable, professional, and honest. They were responsive to all my requests, were on time for both appointments, provided an accurate quote, and most importantly they did an awesome job on the install. With Yelps multi quotes options, Charles' initial response was the most detail in term of labor cost and potential causes. Since it was late in the evening, we planned to meet on the next afternoon for a no cost inspection. Next day, before a meeting happened, Charles proactively checked water meter box where the leak was. He root caused the issue to my service line and not the water utility meter box.
Due to my preference of how to fix the issue, I did not use Charles' service. However, his clear initial labor cost, professionalism and pro-activeness, I recommend you to contact Charley's Plumbing when selecting a plumbing company for your plumbing service.

If I could give 10 stars I would! From first contact, Charles was responsive and kept in touch until his arrival. Both he and Matt are super personable and trustworthy. He explained what the issue might be and once identified gave me more info on how it became a problem and how to avoid so it doesn't happen again. His price was fair and reasonable, and the workmanship is top notch! I was so happy with their service I asked for a bid to replace the pipes throughout my house.  As a single person who lives alone, it's really important to be careful who I allow in my house and both Charles and Matt made me feel super comfortable and safe.  They will be my go to plumbers from now on. We contracted Charley's Plumbing to replace an old water heater that was on it's last leg.  Charles came out on time and performed the work efficiently with great communication all along the way.  He also solved a problem that we thought was going to be a much bigger job than it actually was in helping get hot water instantly to the faucets which are a very long run from our water heater.  The job came in exactly as quoted.  Charles and Matt were both incredibly courteous, knowledgeable and respectful of our home.  The work is top notch and we feel lucky to have found someone so trustworthy.  Added bonus that they like coming up to the mountains and doing work which is sometimes difficult to find.  I highly recommend them to all, and especially the mountain folk.

I had a toilet wax seal that was leaking, so I called Charley. Though he was on the way to a different client, he happened to be still close by and was able to fit me in. Though it wasn't a dire emergency per se, he came over within 15-20 minutes, and immediately got to diagnosing the problem. After filling out some paperwork, he got straight to work. He vacuumed the toilet water, pulled the toilet, replaced the wax seal, did a bunch of scraping/cleanup work, placed the toilet back over the hole, and caulked it, leaving a caulking gap in the back of toilet, so that we can detect if the toilet ever leaks again. He and his partner answered any questions I had and were happy to talk about the options and their experience with this sort of issue. Very professional and I highly recommend them for all sorts of plumbing problems.

Charley was referred to us by another plumber and he is the best!  He helped us test our laundry set up as we wanted to make sure all the pipes and drains are working in preparation of installing a pair of laundry machines.  He also helped us correct the wiring for a couple of the new water heaters installed by this other plumber in order to make sure these water heaters are installed up to code.  But what impressed us the most about Charley is his friendliness and dedication to customer service.  On a Sunday night, we were out of town, and got an urgent call from our tenants who just moved into a property and discovered that there was no hot water.  Knowing that nobody really worked on Sundays, we reached out to Charley to see if he could help us resolve the problem first thing on Monday.  We explained the situation to him.  To our surprise, he said that he would be over to the house to check out the problem right away and he was at the house in about 15 minutes.  He located the problem water heater, was able to re-start the pilot and fixed the issue for us.  He also found some parts issues with the water heater and offered to return to fix the parts at a later time.  When we were about to find out how much the cost would be for this emergency visit, he said that this would be a courtesy visit, so he is not charging us for the trip.  We are so grateful and heartened by Charley's kindness and super-fast actions to help us address the problem.  We highly recommend Charley to anyone who is looking for an honest, reliable and skillful plumber - Charley is the best!

We had a great experience with Charley's Plumbing. We were moving into a house and needed a washer and gas dryer installed. As we were in the process of packing, we did not have time to meet someone in person to get a quote leading up to the job. We were able to send a number of photos to Charles and he provided us a competitive quote. The quote was provided via email and detailed what would be included which I really appreciated. He was very responsive, quickly answering a number of questions leading up to the job.

We moved on a Friday and Saturday morning Charles and an associate showed up as promised. The job included installing an exhaust booster fan for the dryer, installing a new gas shut off valve, connecting the washer to the knockout drain box, etc. They completed the job in a few hours as planned and were sure to test everything after the work was done. They were sure to explain everything they did and everything we needed to know about the new booster fan. I would definitely recommend Charley's Plumbing!

2) honest-did not try to sell me a false set of problems

3) clean-as soon as he showed up for the initial meeting they put on shoe covers, while not that important it showed how they respect their potential customer's homes.  

4) thorough-unlike all the others who showed up to bid my project and just peeked under my house.  Charles suited up and crawled around under my house for 10 minutes, then told me what he was going to do to fix the issue.  

5) communication-there was never any problem, I knew what he was planning on doing and he updated me along the way with pictures and updates.

Overall, a total 5 star company and one we will be calling in the future for the next big job.

I first met Charley when the hot water knob broke on our tub  late one evening. The water wouldn't turn off. Our garbage disposal started leaking steadily and slightly flooding the kitchen. We needed someone right away - found Charley's from a Nextdoor recommendation after trying a few plumbers, he was the one of two that answered quickly, and the only one that could come over right away (it was after hours, past 8:30 in the evening). He was upfront about his charges - he came within the hour inspected the leak (said we needed a new garbage disposal - which we expected - this one was old and has been giving us issues for a while now) and replaced it (we got him a replacement from home-depot while he was working on the old one). Charles is very responsive and very educated on anything to do with plumbing. I learned a lot from him already haha. The best thing about Charles is that he genuinely cares. He truly wants to help and that wins me over every time. I highly recommend Charles to do the job!

Amazing service from these guys! They fixed a leak at our water main. I was impressed at how hard they worked to solve the problem and how friendly they were. Super nice guys and took the time to look at some other unrelated issues we were having with our plumbing. Honest to goodness awesome guys. Charley was able to fit my last minute repair request in. He has a sidekick, Matt, who helped diagnose the problem with my water heater. When my water heater needed a part, they went to a nearby hardware store and got it so the job will be completed that day and I can have hot water again. While they worked, they explained to me what the problem issue was. Will definitely work with them again when something else goes wrong. These guys are just great people and professionals!

Charley is a sensational, professional, plumber! I had an emergency mainline back up where I was in desperate need of service and couldn't schedule a plumber out immediately. After trying three different companies I came across Charley's plumbing and am so grateful I did. He was very professional and came out instantly to address the situation.
