Hi, I'm Ivan, owner of Patterson Plumbing. Thanks for stopping by!

My journey into plumbing started as a curious kid taking all things apart just to understand their inner workings. Plumbing opened that door further to more fun and challenging possibilities.

I got my start as an apprentice with a large plumbing company in Los Angeles. I then worked through the daily challenges of being a plumber for the next 10 years until receiving my C-36 contractor license in 2005 and starting Patterson Plumbing and Drain Inc.

I like being a plumber because it gives me the chance to make a positive impact in people's lives everyday using a skill I truly enjoy.

Not once, not twice, but three times has Patterson Plumbing been available at probably the most unfortunate times (late weekends and holidays). Ivan is speedy with his responses and makes time to save the day.

He explains exactly what he is going to do, does the repair, checks his work multiple times, and walks you through what was repaired. Fair prices, quick quality work, and super friendly. If you're on the fence, take my word, give Patterson Plumbing a try. You won't be disappointed. I have their number on speed dial.

We had a shower that was really clogged and a couple sinks that were starting to get clogged. Ivan was able to come by same day and help get everything snaked and cleared for us. He was a nice and respectful. Would definitely use him again.

11:20 AM he responded. Very quick! He was able to stop by our house within the next 20 minutes to help our clogged shower drain. Very honest and reliable work. Would highly recommend!

Ivan came highly recommended from Next Door . He has fixed 2 issues for me in the last 3 months . My plumbing is so old and I really need to replace it with copper but for the meantime , I had to get a quick fix for my sink that always had drainage issues ( one plumbing company took 5 hours to fix it and the problem was never resolved ). Ivan was prompt and responsive . I got a same day appointment. He gave me a reasonable quote over the phone . He came and targeted the issue quickly . What took the other company 5 hours took him less than an 1 hour and his resolved the problem !
Second time was my faucet had low water pressure . Ivan came on the same day and took him less than 10 minutes to fix it . He gives great value for his service , he is friendly and reliable ! Highly recommended!

Since moving into our house 30 years ago, we been relatively lucky with respect to home plumbing-related problems. But when problems do occur, it's always a hassle researching good plumbers on Yelp and other sites and then deciding who to call. And  it can turn out to be a grueling and expensive trial and error process.

The recent and increasingly loud popping and hissing noises issuing from our hot water heater finally forced me to repeat my research process, and by good fortune we chose Ivan based on his positive reviews on Yelp and elsewhere. Over the past few days, he has efficiently and expertly performed a number of repair and replacement jobs in the bathrooms, kitchen, and garage.

Glad to know we now have a go-to plumber of his high caliber.

Our sewer cleanout backed up on Martin Luther King Day, and sewage was leaking into our front yard.  I was worried because it was a holiday that I wouldn't be able to find anyone to come fix it, but Ivan returned my call within two minutes, and he arrived at my house twenty minutes later.  He quickly snaked the line and fixed the issue.  While I had him on site I also had him to replace my faucet which I had been putting off doing myself for months.  A detailed invoice arrived by email within minutes after he was done.

Very knowledgeable and personable guy, would highly recommend and plan using him again!

I gave Ivan a 5 star review before and it was much deserved. Yesterday I texted him a video of an issue a friend was having at her house, he said send me her contact info and we'll see what I can do so I did, he contacted her, went over there a couple hours later and diagnosed the issue, came back this morning and SOLVED it. (an unusual issue involving an Eichler home)... she is THRILLED and I knew Ivan would come through for her. He definitely has both of us as clients forever! Called Ivan for a clog in our toilet/shower drain. He called back within a few minutes,  and showed up on time that he promised.  The clog was due to roots getting into the drain, and it took a lot of effort in pouring rain for him to complete the job, and he did it with utmost professionalism.

Will definitely hire him for any plumbing job in the future.

Ivan does a great job, is very reliable and very conscientious.  I have used him through the years and have never been disappointed.  He lets you know if he is running behind (which is so appreciated) and he will even do the leg work for you if you want him to, i.e. find the fixtures for you etc.  I absolutely trust Ivan and was very comfortable leaving him in my house working alone when I had to go pick up something he was going to install for me.  He definitely knows his business and is super competent.  He also makes himself very available by working every day of the week.  I highly recommend him, you won't be sorry if you need a plumber and hire Ivan!

I had a sudden leak in a wall, i called Ivan and he responded promptly i was in a bind but he arrived in 30 mins and fixed the leak - considering the short notice price was very reasonable.
Although i hope not to have to call a plumber, but if i do I will definitely call Ivan

Unlike the other business that came earlier and asked almost 40% more (i.e., Pacific Coast Home Srvcs), Ivan was quite professional, kind and efficient to get the job done. He went to the roof vent and solved the problem. The other business had called the job: Stoppage Clearing - Kit/Lav - Through Strainer / Single Pass.  Thanks Ivan.

We've had Ivan out to our place a couple times in the last few years for drain unclogging, toilet installation, shower repair, and plenty of other odds and ends. This most recent time we had to shut off our water around midnight due to a broken shower, and he responded and came the very next day to bail us out, during the Thanksgiving weekend! As usual he fixed the problem quickly and effectively, returning everything to a better state than when he started. I cannot understate how helpful he has been with not just the plumbing, but other random odd problems (broken shower door, broken faucet knob etc).

On top of that he's professional, friendly, and upfront and transparent about his pricing. Would absolutely recommend you give him a call for any plumbing issues!

Great plumbing company!.   Ivan was very responsive in returning our phone call for assistance and visited us within 30 minutes.  We explained 2 problems to him.  He explained what was needed for the 1st problem and explained why the 2nd problem was a non-issue. He quoted us a very fair and reasonable  price to fix the one problem .  He did a great job and went above and beyond with changing our water supply lines in our toilet as preventative for the same price quoted!

Our kitchen sink drain backed up on a Saturday night and Ivan promptly showed early Sunday morning and cleared out the backup.

He accessed it from the roof vent, which is a lot more work, but much more efficient, clean and effective. Whereas in the past, others have always accessed it and cleared out the backup from the external cleanout.

Very prompt and knowledgeable and would highly recommend the service.

Thanksgiving week and I can't take the kitchen faucet dripping anymore. Due to Ivan's 5 star rating I called the day before Thanksgiving and thought there would be a wait to get a plumber out. He was ready that day but I took the day after. Very prompt and he had it replaced in under a hour. Very friendly and efficient. Will definitely use him again..
Hired Ivan again to install toilet and 2 in remodeled master bath. I corrected errors that the flooring team and custom counter guy left. Extremely precise and friendly. He did a wonderful work and is very friendly and communicates.

My kitchen sink decided to clog up on a weekend. Ivan was able to provide a quote and come out within two hours. Not only did he clear the drain in a jiffy, he also found a tiny leak in my P-trap. Turns out the pipe wall was badly corroded and I never noticed. Thank goodness he had spare parts and was able to replace the pipes. He was very courteous and knowledgeable. The price seems pretty reasonable. Not the cheapest, but I would rather pay more so I don't have to wash dishes in my bathroom for another day. Knock on wood I won't need plumber for a while, but I'll be sure to contact him again if the need arises.

I had a main kitchen sink that would not clear and found Ivan on Yelp.  It was late in the afternoon, but I thought I would schedule next morning.  However, Ivan said that he would be at my home in 10 minutes.  And he was!
Ivan introduced himself and provided a business card.  I summarized the problem; Ivan diagnosed the issue; Completed the cleanout in ten minutes.  I was very impressed with his professionalism, plumbing knowledge, and through plumbing skills.  I would certainly call Ivan for any future plumbing issues.  (refreshing to meet a professional plumbing that ends extremely well as with my clogged sink)  Well Done!

Our toilet backed up and we were unable to clear it ourselves.   We called Patterson Plumbing to help us clear the clog.  

There is a reason why Ivan has so many great reviews.  He does outstanding work!  Ivan is laid back and easy to talk to.  He was prompt in his responses and arrived when he said he would.   Explained everything he was going to do and help fixed another problem we had with the flange that connects the toilet to the floor.  After finishing his repair, he cleaned up his work area very well, you never would have known he was there.  

One thing i would like to point out.  He was in and out of our house a lot.  Every time he came in, he would put on those little disposable booties.  Every time he went out, he took them off.  For some this may not be a big deal, but to us, we really appreciated how considerate he was.  

I would not hesitate to call Ivan again for help.  Thanks again Ivan.

We've been a loyal customer of Ivan Patterson for several years now and will continue to be one well into the future. Ivan is very friendly and has a genuine interest in understanding the problem and fixing it properly.

Over the years he's fixed a leaking pipe to our sprinkler system, a leaking pipe from our bathroom drain, cleared out our main line and capped the drain from our laundry room.

All of the work has been masterful. His fixes often leave us with a better setup than we started with. He also does the work extremely quickly. Ivan is simply superb at what he does.

Ivan saves the day again!!

After fussing over our inability to control the water temperature with our single lever bath faucet that had been delivering us hot, scalding water, I decided to call up Ivan with a request to come over and inspect. Expecting to set an appointment for sometime next week, I was surprised by his immediate response time to today! Ivan not only restored our lever to working ability, but also fixed our diverter problem that I've had 3 different plumbers before him come and try to resolve to no avail.

Just as he is professional, courteous, and punctual, he's very down to earth and a wonderful plumber that we'll keep calling and recommending friends to.

Ivan responded to my call within a couple hours and was over shortly after that to check out our sink problem. Ordered what we needed and a couple days later came and fixed it and then did another fix on something else while he was here. Friendly, great communication and prompt, reasonably priced service. And just a really nice guy. Isn't that what we all need from people we hire to help fix things? No complaints whatsoever and Ivan will definitely be our go-to plumber from now on!

I was very pleased with Ivan's work from Patterson Plumbing and Drain.  He was communicative, informative, quick, and trustworthy.
I first emailed him with my issues, and he replied within that day.  I then called him once the weekend has passed, and he came over the same day.  Within a couple of hours, my issues with the toilet were solved, and I was emailed a contract and detailed receipt.  I was not able to be home, so the process was made easier by making a payment over the phone with my credit card.
I would definitely use Patterson Plumbing and Drain again.  Thank you, Ivan.

I woke up in the middle of the night to our toilet not flushing correctly. With having only one bathroom, we needed to get this fixed ASAP. I reached out to a few plumbers (that Yelp! forced recommend at the top of my search) and they all were not available. All the way at the bottom of the search was Patterson Plumbing and Drain. They were opened, so I gave them a call and left a message.

Within 10 minutes I received a call back from Ivan. He asked a few questions and provided me an estimate over the phone. I knew since it was a Sunday, I may be paying a little more.

Ivan arrived within 45 minutes and knew exactly how to resolve the issue. He was efficient, friendly, and followed COVID guidelines. The one thing I really liked was his honesty. You don't find that much these days. I will definitely use Patterson Plumbing and Drain in the future and will be referring our friends to Ivan's business as well.

Needed a leaking under the sink garbage disposal machine replaced. Called 3 companies from Yelp, Ivan responded to my VM with a text, he was brief but friendly over texts. Asked for a picture, gave me a quote, told me he can come in an hour, came in an hour, replaced it, left the space clean after he was done.
He was polite, friendly, wore his mask when I asked him to, and it was overall a friendly and efficient affair.

Called before 9am and he came within 30 minutes.
He had high reviews and other plumbers we call either weren't available or didn't respond as fast.
Excellent fast response!
We had an exterior main drain pipe leaking due to patchwork of couplings.
Had to shut off the water to the house and that's hard with everyone WFH and kids remote learning!
He provided us two options and went to work.
Both options secured a long term solution vs patch work.   All was done in an hour and we had our water back!

If I could give Ivan 10 stars, I would! I am staying with my Mom after her hospital stay & discovered that her garbage disposal was leaking badly & the cabinet was flooded. I called him early on a Saturday & he was here within 20 minutes & replaced the garbage disposal in no time at all. Ivan is super personable & friendly and obviously knows his stuff. Price was very reasonable & we will DEFINITELY use him in the future for our plumbing needs.

Shower and toilet drains in master bathroom were suddenly completely blocked, and that's not good!   Ivan returned my call in less than 5 minutes, was here in 1/2 hour, and cleared the clogged sewer pipe.  While he was here, at my request, he also replaced three 50-year-old toilet water supply valves that didn't work well, with nice new ones.  They were in hard-to-get-to locations, and not something I was willing to attempt myself.  Ivan explained everything upfront, and was great to work with.  Work was done quickly, and looks great.  He's got my recommendation!

We had an ongoing leak from our water main to our backyard sprinkler system.  We heard great reviews about Patterson Plumbing and Drain and decided to take a chance by calling them to address our nightmarish issue.  
The owner came and immediately fixed the issue, and the price was extremely reasonable.

Late one evening, I noticed that the Hall bathroom toilet had developed a slow leak which I knew required prompt attention.  The next morning I searched through the yellow pages of the telephone book and the internet for the phone number of a plumber and read the Yelp reviews about Patterson Plumbing,.  Most of these were outstanding reviews so i called them at 7:20 a.m.and left a message.  Within 10 min. at 7:30, I received a call back from Ivan.  Explained my problem and he said he'll be by in an hour.

As promised, he arrived at 8:30, assesses the problem and gave an estimate of the cost and work time involved.  He installed new angle stop water shut off valve and supply line and fill valve and tested these.  I also asked Ivan, if he had time, to look at my bedroom toilet as I had been experiencing a sporadic problem with the flushing mechanism.  He said he had time,  saw the problem and installed a new flapper, tested it and problem solved!

Ivan was prompt, completed the job in a speedy and completely satisfactory manner.  He is very friendly, neat worker who left a very tidy work space.and the price was very reasonable.  No hesitation to use his services again, I highly recommend him!

Ivan was great from the moment I reached out. I can't speak more highly of his professionalism, honesty, safety (he wore a mask), and punctuality! What a great find, I'll definitely be calling him with any other plumbing needs in the future!  

The Backstory:
I needed some kitchen sink plumbing repairs before a new dishwasher could be installed. He talked me through the process over the phone and was able to come to the house later that day to make the repairs. I was so impressed over the phone, that I cancelled another plumbing company that I had already scheduled to do the work!  

His work was exactly like he explained on the phone and the repairs were made quickly and with a nice walk-through afterwards to show me his work. During the process, he also pointed out that our house's water shut off valve was old, wouldn't close entirely, and was on the verge of breaking. He let me know how to coordinate with Los Altos City Water (since the street meter needed to be closed before he could change it out) and was able to come back the next morning (the soonest the city could shut off the water) to make the replacement. Again, super grateful for finding him!

I requested a quote from Patterson Plumbing by email to replace a main water supply shutoff valve and a shutoff valve to the sprinkler system. He gave me a quote based on description and a picture of the current sitiation.
(Some other places wanted to charge me to come out and give me an estimate.) During the course of the job, he found out that some shifting had occurred and the main supply pipe from the water meter was misaligned with the pipe entering the house. He managed to work around the problem and completed the job for the quoted price. I'm completely satisfied with the work done and certainly plan to go back to PattersonPlumbing for future plumbing problems. Thanks, Ivan

I had a back up with my kitchen and washer area. I started looking for any available plumber that is in the area.

I searched and found Patterson Plumbing on Yelp, since he is based in Sunnyvale and I am glad I did.

He was courteous and dropped by in 20 mins.

I explained my situation and he went straight to work on the roof and snaked the blockage away.

I also asked about upgrading my gas value in my kitchen to keep up to code and he did that as well.

He is a great and honest plumber. Very hard to find. I will always keep him in my address book for any plumbing issues or home improvement.

The inspection from Critter Control (whom I also reviewed) reported a dripping pipe under the crawlspace. I thought I could fix the problem myself. I was wrong.

So I called Ivan on a Saturday afternoon and left a message. He called back in less than 15 minutes, and was able to be at my house 10 minutes later. When he arrived he wore a mask and kept a social distance. He crawled in our very uncomfortable crawlspace, inspected the pipe, and give me a very reasonable price. Then he got his equipment, went back under, and fixed it so fast that it didn't even interrupt dinner preparation. The whole process took less than an hour.

When we run into the next plumbing problem that I don't want to fix myself, I'm calling Ivan!

I called Ivan around 11am one day to discuss a gas line that I needed relocated. Ivan came out within the hour, looked at it and had it fixed very quickly! Lifesaver!

Every six months I need my whole house filter changed and the cost has just been going up like crazy in the last 18 months from the dealer/installer.  After looking in Yelp, I contacted Ivan Patterson.  He was personable, on time, clean, knowledgeable and efficient!  Wow!!   Ivan is my go-to plumber from now on. 5 star service! I had a last minute emergency- kitchen sink was leaking (probably for a couple days) and did not realize there was an issue until it was too late. Next morning, bought a new faucet and tried to fix it ourselves. Yeah, it was not going to happen. This literally threw a wrench in our plans. I called several vendors and knew I may not find anyone since it was Memorial Day (Ugh, perfect timing).

Ivan got back to me within 5 minutes of my call and came to my home within 30 minutes of confirming. Ivan adhere to county guidelines (wore a mask) and was super friendly. Assessed the situation and got to work. Ivan removed our old facet and installed a new faucet, replaced 3 shut off valves installed a new brass tee fitting. Finished the service quickly (and cleaned up). Our kitchen faucet looks awesome and glad we opted in to replace our brass tee fitting (it was gross AND filled with build up). Price for the services was totally reasonable, especially since it was in such short notice.

I am happy to support small business and highly recommend Ivan. He is as professional as they come! :)

I strongly recommend Patterson Plumbing.  Ivan is the best.  I called them recently to replace 3 faucets; 2 that were stuck open and 1 outside faucet that leaked.  Ivan responded the same day to my call and came out and quickly replaced the faucets.  His price estimate was reasonable and upfront.  We had used him several years ago for our last plumbing problem and were also extremely satisfied. It is great to have a plumber that you can count on when you need one.

We are going to be upgrading our PG&E panel. The electrician let us know PG&E wouldn't permit the work until the spout located below the panel was moved several feet.  Ivan quoted us quickly and was available to do the work a couple days later. Thanks to him, we can now proceed with our project without delay. He is also very pleasant to work with. Five stars.

I had multiple drains plugged and I needed urgent help.  I called Patterson Plumbing because I wanted an experienced plumber.  Often the bigger plumbing companies have several experienced plumbers and many less experienced plumbers.  They send someone less experienced initially and after he has wasted your time and possibly screwed things up, a more experienced supervisor will come out hours or days later.  Patterson plumbing has 1 plumber, Ivan, who has 15+ years of experience.  

I called Patterson and left a message. He called back in about 10 minutes.  After listening to my story he said he was just pulling up to his next job and he was too busy today and tomorrow to help me.  He suggested that I try to find someone else, but said he would call back if something changed.  

He called back 10 minutes later and said he could come in 15 minutes (I don't know what changed).  10 minutes later he was at my front door.  

I showed him what was going on.  Initially he tried something simple that didn't work.  After a little more investigation he said he was pretty sure the main drain was clogged.  He was right.  It took about 20 minutes to get the snake into the drain and find the clog.  It took about 5 minutes to clear the clog.  He spent an extra 15 minutes snaking the drain in 2 directions, to make sure everything was clear.  We spent another 5 minutes with the water running and everything seems to be fine.  

So, after about a total of 60 minutes my problem was solved.  I paid him and he was on his way to his next job!

I called Ivan about a sound that my water heater pump was making with the water main turned off. The irrigation contractor needed to do this to install some new valves. Ivan spoke to me for more than 10 min and told me exactly what to do - turn off the pump, and then once the water is turned back on turn on all the faucets to take out the air in the system - and then restart the pump. I was in a bind because I think that the irrigation contractor did not realize the effect on the water heater, so I had to call emergently about 10min after the water supply was turned off.

Basically he bailed me out by giving me urgent free advice. I did exactly as he suggested, and problem solved. I would definitely recommend him and will use them if I need plumbing services in the future.

I needed to replace a couple of water pressure regulators and decided to use Yelp's feature to request quotes from several plumbers. Ivan was one of the quickest to respond, and after requesting more information from me, gave me a specific quote. Of more than 5 plumbers, he was the only one that gave me a number -- a few gave wide ranges, and most just said call me. Not only that, his quote was at the bottom end of the few ranges I got from others.

He even showed up early (after telling me) to make sure he got the work done that day, and his quote included not only the new regulators, but also reworking the piping to move the shut-off valve before the regulators rather than after, so they can be replaced in the future without having to find the street-side shutoff valve.

He also willingly spent time to give estimates on a couple other issues we had, and was polite and friendly throughout.

I'll use him again in the future and highly recommend him.

We had a water leak in our kitchen while changing kitchen faucet. Had to turn off main water supply to avoid water damage (wife was not happy :) as everything stalled in home and the you realize how much we take water for granted). This was just couple of weeks before Christmas and not many people were available to come to home to inspect (the one who were available were charging a lot to just come and see the problem and fix will be additional charge). We also had our cloth washer being changed the same day and needed to start our water main quickly to make sure install was success.

We finally found Ivan through yelp and he replied us within minutes and came by to our home in couple of hours on time. He was very honest and he was very professional. Explained us the problem. I really loved his professional approach and kindness. When we said we have our washer installation schedule that day, he also made sure those water outlets are not broken too (those water knobs were 25+ year old and could have been broken without us knowing and if it's broken, washer can't be installed)

The best plumber we have ever had!  I had a bad clog in our bathroom sink and after searching Yelp came across all the excellent 5 star reviews for Patterson Plumbing.

I am downgrading my excellent review of Ivan because I've tried to reach him several times in the past week and he has not responded to any attempt. I called him because he fixed the same plumbing problem 9/ 20 and I thought he would be the best person to understand the situation. My problem is after doing two loads of laundry, I ended up with brown water in both of my bathtubs, one of which is a hall bath directly across from the laundry tub in the garage. Ivan actually replaced a pipe in the wall in the garage leading to the hall bathtub and I paid him $500. In the past week, I've texted him, emailed him with the attached prior invoice, and called him and got absolutely no reply. I know it's a holiday week, but he has no holiday message on. This lack of response tells me I cannot rely on him and need to find a new plumber which I am in the process of doing. I won't use Patterson Plumbing again. He only got three stars because he did the job right the first time.

Called around 1PM. Called back by 1:30PM. Was out here by 2:00PM. Fixed my problem (an outside faucet problem) by 2:30PM. Fully understood having things be totally 'contactless'. We talked over the phone, discussed the issue he found, and all I had to do was write a check, and leave it in an envelope on the front step (away from where he was.) Problem solved in 90 minutes from time of call! Now - I know that I was very fortunate to reach out to him when he had a gap between other jobs. So I wouldn't expect to regularly get such amazingly fast service. But what I did get that is easily repeated is (a) a quick callback (b) courtesy (c) competency of execution (d) a fair price. Today's service was unfortunate.  Pleasantly scheduled an appointment for between 11:30 - 12:00. Ivan called  ~ 45:00  minutes early to let me know he was planning to show up early. He probably showed up 20:00 minutes early and left.  I missed the call and his early arrival.  I called him at 11:30 to see what was going on, There was no answer (I left a message).  I called several  times  more throughout the day, no answers. I left messages asking to be called back, no return calls.

Don't know,  he may be a good plumber, but he probably jumped on what he thought was a better deal when I missed his early arrival. I find this to be disappointing.  I was hoping to reschedule.  I guess I need to find another plumber.

We broke our bathtub faucet late Saturday night and had to shut off water until next day. Early Sunday morning I began calling plumbers and out of 4-5 calls, Patterson Plumbing was the only one that answered right away. He indicated he was available in a couple hours and to text a picture of the problem. When he showed up on time, he had already been to the store, had what was needed to complete the job quickly and thoroughly. He was very professional and informative.

I accidentally broke a PVC pipe that connects to our sprinkler system on a Saturday morning.  There was no turn-off at the point of the break, so I had to turn off water to the entire house to stop the gush of water. Ivan was able to come out within an hour to fix the problem and install a turn-off valve so that I wouldn't have the problem again in the future.  I was very happy with his timeliness (particularly on a Saturday) and the finished work.

Replaced our drop-in kitchen sink and faucet and added a water filter system (all provided by me).  Ivan showed up on time and spent the better part of 4 hours removing and re-installing everything.  This also included removing and reinstalling the existing garbage disposal during which he noticed the sink collar was not the correct one for the disposal.  He had a new one on his truck which he used to replace.  He also did a thorough test of all related parts (including the dishwasher) to ensure everything worked and there were no leaks.  The faucet (which I provided and was new) had a leak in the handle.  He took it apart and fixed that as well. This was all done according to his original estimate including all new plumbing and the disposal collar. He is probably on the expensive side but you get what you pay for and I have absolutely no regrets. Very courteous and respectful of my home (even putting on shoe covers without being asked). Pleasant to work with and took time to find the best placement for the filter system to enable easy replacement as well as explaining to me how it's done.

Will definitely have him back for any future plumbing needs!

I use Yelp mostly for dining recommendations and don't write reviews since food tastes are so subjective.  I feel compelled to write about the awesome experience I had with Patterson Plumbing fixing my drain problem.  In short, he was at my house 2.5 hrs. after I contacted him, lugged a heavy tool on my roof and had everything finished in under 15 mins.  He cleared the clog in my bathroom sink and went above & beyond by also snaking my kitchen drain for good measure.  He's a friendly guy who's competitively priced (lowest quote of the 5 people I contacted) and does great work.  Thanks Ivan!

Ivan's five star reviews are well-deserved. From my first text communications with him via Yelp to the completion of the work, he was friendly, patient, responsive, knowledgeable, kind, and professional. His prices were comparable to our other quote--higher for two tasks, lower for the other two, so it all evened out. We had Ivan replace a shower head, a broken tub drain stopper, and a sink faucet/broken stopper; he also installed a hot water recirculating pump so that we could get hot water more quickly to the bathroom. Had a dire emergency so I quickly Yelp'ed plumbers in the area and called Ivan due to his stellar reviews. To Ivan's credit, he answered the phone after a couple of rings and after describing the situation he said he was not available that day (which is more than understandable) but when I inquired as to his next availability he said he was busy, full stop; no additional follow-up, concern, recommendations given the level of emergency, or indication of when exactly he might be available, and worst of all was the tone: terse, completely disinterested, and pretentious, as if  I were a nuisance. I'm grateful there are other options as there is no better equalizer than competition.

I had an issue with a couple of faucets making noise when they are on. Over e-mail, without even stopping by to see what the issue is or ask for any details he asked for $195 just to stop by. When I replied inquiring for details, he ghosted. I broke the main waterline as it entered the house and the water was gushing everywhere. I needed a quick fix and fast. I called a few different places before choosing Patterson Plumbing. Over the phone Ivan sounded friendly, knowledgeable and fair. He came to our condo within the hour and assessed the situation with our sink quickly. He was able to drain the hard to get to clogged area. Patterson was the 5th plumbing visit for drain problems.  Finally, it is fixed.

I am naive about plumbing.  I wanted to not only to fix the problems but also to _understand_ the drain system under my house.

The other plumbers answered my question.... but after 3 months of talking to trusted people like my brother,  I found out I was asking THE WRONG QUESTION.  These plumbers quoted various jobs from $4k to $15k, but I learned I didn't need repiping, nor did I need drain replacement; all I needed was cleaning.

Patterson not only did the job but EXPLAINED where my drains were, how they worked etc, so that I can manage them in the future.  The service price was on the high side, but I finally have a provider I can trust and can have a technical conversation with.

Best plumbing contractor in the bay area hands down.  

Ivan is the owner and did an extensive gas pipe install into my house to accommodate a switch from my electric range top to a gas one.  Our home is a reverse floor plan with the kitchen on the second floor so doing the job was no easy task.  All walls he had to cut into were done neatly and as small as possible to allow for quick wall patch and repair.  He was extremely conscious of keeping a clean work area and throughly cleaned up the job site when finished.  He even installed my new dishwasher I had delivered the same day as the stove and made sure everything was running correctly.

In short, Ivan did an amazing job and his attention to detail, professionalism and skills as a plumber are highly sought after but seldom found.  Want a job done correctly the first time?  Go with Patterson Plumbing.  You won't be disappointed.

Ivan is in my top 10 speed-dial list (yes, dating myself). My washer hose area had been leaking for a while and finally went kaputz 2 days ago; the washer itself finally burned out (motor and drum) and the water leakage from the pipes were uncontrollable. Per the appliance repair person, it'd be best to get my washer replaced vs. repaired and get the pipes fixed ahead of time. I found Ivan on Yelp and emailed him. He was instantly responsive: Succinct on the quote and agreeing to an arrival time. He came the next morning. Turns out the pipes were in bad shape blockage wise (all connected to bathroom and kitchen plumbing) and neeeded to be snaked thoroughly. Also, the faucet was likely 20+ years old and simply needed to be replaced. Ivan did all the above in 1.5 hours, with extremely reasonable cost, and left the place cleaner than when he arrived (!). Throughout it all, Ivan was great to work with. Even as he was explaining the problem, he wasn't hard-selling us on any services, but explained that should the washer installers come and see the issues they may not even do the work [for fear of liability]. He's the real deal: completely trustworthy, great workmanship and professional. He even emailed us a copy of our invoice later with a warranty on services. Not that I want any more plumbing issues, but it'd be a pleasure to work with Ivan again. He turned a frustrating situation into a manageable one within 24 hours.

I found Ivan 's business on Yelp, and called him to help with a dripping faucet.  He was very professional, honest and helpful, and suggested it may make sense to replace the faucet instead.  I went to Home Depot and bought the replacement faucet, and Ivan was able remove the existing faucet and install the replacement faucet in a short amount of time.   I am very happy with the results and would recommend Patterson Plumbing to others looking to hire a plumber.

10-year-old Moen shower valve stem broke Thursday night, so no one could use the shower at all, even with pliers. (Watched a few YouTube videos ...) Sent in Yelp request at 11pm, got a reply by next morning with quote. Called him at 10 AM, texted him photos, he was able to come to my Sunnyvale location Friday in 30 minutes with the official PosiTemp cartridge, and the issue was fixed in 20. He told me the house next door (all the houses are 10 years old) had the same issue 3 months ago and he detailed how he got the cartridge unstuck. I watched what he did and am proficient enough to install my own undersink reverse-osmosis system into existing plumbing -- but hiring him was worth it (the Moen PosiTemp cartridge is a bad design for replacement when the rubber door rolls over and impedes extraction). He wore booties inside the house (thanks!), everything works great, cleaned up after himself, and personally reminded me of my nicer co-workers (proficient, got the job done quickly / no hassle, easy to work with) -- thank you!

I had a clogged kitchen sink and was leaving for a vacation the next day. I called Patterson plumbing and talked to Ivan. It was a Sunday and didn't expect much. Ivan replied he could be at my house in 30 minutes and was there in less. He quickly diagnosed the problem and said he had to snake the pipe. He handled the situation professionally and within minutes had the drain cleared and suggested to to avoid it in the future. He also fixed a minor faucet problem which made my wife happy. His price was fair for a Sunday emergency. I will refer and always use Ivan going forward with my plumbing issues.

Highly recommend!! We had a huge leak in our old pressure regulator for our irrigation and backyard water (what a mess). So we had to turn off the water which risked losing a lot of plants. We found Patterson Plumbing through a Yelp search and Ivan came out the day (today) we called him. He was able to extract the old pressure regulator, which was frozen on the pipes, without damage to many sprinkler lines which were very close by.  He also replaced two outdoor faucets that were leaking.  Ivan was very professional, knowledgable and friendly, and did an outstanding job. He is now our go-to plumber!!

Patterson Plumbing was fantastic. Ivan promptly responded to my VM with a text within an hour even though it was a Saturday evening and was on time, polite and professional when he arrived on Sunday. He snaked out my shower and also double checked my other bathrooms and sinks to ensure that we did not have an emergency situation again in the near future.

A tenant reported an issue they considered an emergency (overflowing kitchen sink). I called 3 different plumbers, and none could look at it that day until I called Patterson Plumbing. When it rains, it pours.  Luckily for me, I found Patterson Plumbing last week to fix my outdoor leak.  This week, my 16 year old water heater died and had a slow leak.  Ivan responded promptly to my query through their website and was onsite within the hour.  He was very patient as we discussed the various options in detail since I was considering a switch to a tankless water heater.  Ivan answered all of my questions after checking out my current setup and situation without any semblance of pushing me in any one direction.  After discussion and taking some time to think about it, I decided to stick with a tank water heater and he completed the job the same day in less than 3 hours.  As much as I like Ivan's work, I hope plumbing issues don't come in threes and I don't have to see him again for a long time.  :)  But if I do ever have another plumbing issue, I'll be calling on him again for sure.

We worked on fixing/cleaning up our mother's home after moving her into assisted living and needed a plumber for few odds and ends. We found Ivan's business card and a nice note so we figured if mom trusted him, then we could too. Definitely made the right call! Ivan showed up early for our appointment, gave his assessment and quickly did the work. As the other reviewers pointed out, Ivan is the nicest man, very capable, courteous and reliable. I also appreciated the connection, however small, that he made with our mom, telling me the stories and anecdotes from his time with her. I could see that this is not just a job to him, but that he cares about people as well. I used to work in the architectural field where I had many dealings with contractors, subcontractors, plumbers, electricians, you name it, and Ivan stands out as one of the good ones, for sure.

Oh my goodness!  I sure did luck out when I found Ivan Patterson.  A couple of weeks ago he came out within minutes after my call in a semi panic.  I was due to have company and my downstairs toilet was horribly clogged.  Not only did he fix the clog with his handy dandy snake (or whatever he used), he kept a smile on his face the entire time.  I guess his olfactory nerves are dead.  Thank goodness for him.
Then, a few days later, I received a thank you note from him and his wife, Melissa.  How cool is that???
Today, a toilet arrived from FedEx with my new toilet for my upstairs bathroom.  Of course I was going to call Ivan.  I had already told him that I needed a new toilet for my upstairs and that I'd be back in touch.  Not to belabor the whole story.  My whole toilet had NOT arrived.  I received only a partial shipment.  Ivan was willing to go to Bay Plumbing for me to pick up a toilet from them, after he called them to confirm that they had the toilet that I wanted.  In the end, we called FedEx to find out why I only received 1 box out of the 2.  Ivan helped with several calls on that matter, which never got resolved.  He not only assisted with the calls, but he actually hung around waiting for the other box, until we called FedEx again, and we were informed that it might not arrive until 8 pm.  Ivan finally left, knowing that he would be returning at some point.
Ivan refused to take any money for his time and inconvenience!

Dang, 3 inches of water sloshing in my shower/swimming pool every time I wanted to get clean!  Suspecting I had a slow drain, I called Ivan based on his great reviews.  Lucky for me, he was finishing a job nearby and offered to stop by on his way home.  

Not only was he accommodating, but he also offered me his frequent customer discount without my prompting, even though it was his first job with me.  

He showed up on time and spared me future disaster, and faster than estimated.  There was no fuss, mess, nor subsequent return of the whirlpool since.  

Ivan was a very friendly, honest, knowledgeable guy; he happily shared insights on a future gas line job I was contemplating.  I'm bummed he moved up to Santa Cruz, because it can be hard finding a skilled, affordable plumber with a pleasant demeanor.

Ivan was the only one of 5 companies we called today that was able to come out in a short notice Saturday afternoon/evening. His price was in the same ballpark as the others, and he showed up promptly on time and fixed our backed-up kitchen drain line!  What a lifesaver, as we had guests this weekend.
He fixed our problem quickly and even explained the steps he was taking and the logic behind them. Very professional & friendly.

Had a leaky copper water supply pipe in my crawl space. Called Patterson Plumbing on a Saturday morning and a short time later Jose showed up. Very nice fella. He had to crawl in that wet/muddy/sticky Lemon Grove clay soil under my house to get to the leak and he did it with a smile and get'r done attitude.
In less than  1/2 hour the leak was fixed.
The cost was very fair.
I've had other plumbers over and it wasn't always a good experience.
Jose was a trooper and I will definitely call Patterson's if I need more work in the future.

Ivan Patterson is one of the best service providers with whom I have ever worked. The smile you see in his photo is the same smile I experienced when he arrived, from start to finish. Professional, personable, efficient, fairly priced, and an excellent communicator. This was my first call to him and it won't be my last (I needed two minor repairs immediately, and will have more work in the future). Then a couple days later, a handwritten thank you note arrived from Ivan and Melissa. This level of customer service is rare today, and so highly appreciated.

Ivan is as nice as they come and brings a ton of experience as well!  He has been in the plumbing business for 20+ years and provided a super positive experience for us.  We called him on a Sunday morning for a backed up kitchen sink, and he was at our home within the next hour!  His prices are very fair, and he worked quickly too.  He also mailed us a nice little note afterwards.  This is the kind of business that you will want to call again and again and refer all your friends to.  My suggestion is to just go with Patterson Plumbing and call it a day.  You will be happy with your decision!

Ivan is amazing, reliable, and my go to plumber. When we first moved into our house (nearly 70 year old house), we had a lot of issues with the sewer pipe line and he came out and fixed it in no time. I had called a few plumbers before him and they all gave me quotes telling me I had to change my entire water line for thousands of dollars. When Ivan came out, he was able to find that we had roots going into the sewer line. He unclogged it and even gave us advice on what we could do to help keep our pipes healthy so we wouldn't have to do a replacement quite yet. I just recently called him because I kept hearing humming, clanking through my walls and from my gas meter randomly when I turned the water on. Ivan was on time and checked our water pressure just in case. Even though he couldn't come in because of SIP, he was extremely helpful in providing me tips with what I could do to trouble shoot the next time I hear it. I would highly recommend Ivan. He really is the best in business.

I have never felt compelled to write a review about a plumbing company before, but Ivan Patterson impressed me so much I want to recommend Patterson Plumbing to everyone who needs a plumber.

We had a mystery plumbing problem in one of our bathrooms that no one had been able to fix (we had a different plumber out previously) but I called and Ivan was able to come over within 30 minutes and he sleuthed it out and solved the problem for us once and for all. He is exceptionally competent, friendly, and professional and I told him before he left that he is now our plumber for life! I feel lucky to have found him, as he obviously delivers above and beyond expectations to all of his clients. I highly recommend Patterson Plumbing for all your plumbing needs!

Ivan is fantastic! Our hot water suddenly disappeared and the pressure was very low. The cold water was not affected, only the hot water. After calling several different plumbing services who were slow to respond, we found Plumbing & Drains Unplugged. Ivan was at our house within 30 minutes and honed in on the problem right away. Ivan is an excellent service provider! I called 3 plumbers when my sewage grinder pump stopped working, all with very different estimates. Ivan came out that same day, took a look, and gave me a very reasonable estimate. He then came back promptly the next morning, as scheduled, with a new grinder pump that he had just picked up, and replaced the unit. He was knowledgable, friendly, and very professional. I am not sure Why the last review didn't post.  But in this case I was lucky, when you get service, Ivan was driving by. Literally. The service was fast and efficient, I had a bent external pipe, that he had to go into the dry wall to replace, and it was taken care of within 45 minutes.  I would definitely use these guys again if I had another plumbing job in Sunnyvale.

We moved into our home 2.5 years ago and never had a washer and dryer up until just recently. Our new washer and dryer were delivered and set up and five minutes after the delivery guys drove away our storage room floor started flooding... the drain was clogged. We tried calling multiple companies and nobody could come until the next day. Finally I found this company on Yelp and so I gave them a call. I spoke to Ivan on the phone and half an hour later he was at our door! He was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. He snaked our pipes, fixed some other issues with the connections and also provided us with quotes on a new water heater. Very friendly. I am so thankful that Ivan was able to unclog our kitchen sink drain.  After going through 3 other plumbers locally, one of them being All Service Plumbing who just immediately wanted to start cutting open walls and replacing pipes, we thought obtaining a second opinion was in order.  I am so glad I found Patterson Plumbing & Drain!  Ivan was very professional, clean and took his shoes off and arrived at the time we had scheduled.  He was able to unclog the kitchen drain line in a matter of minutes.   I was very impressed and this is the level of service a plumber should be!   The local plumbers in Monterey should take lessons from Ivan!  Top notch!   5 stars!!

I was anticipating giving Patterson a 5-star rating after he successfully cleared a kitchen drain in my rental home that another plumbing company was unable to clear. It's what happened next that changes my review.

The process of clearing the drain revealed that the cast iron drain pipe was severely and extensively corroded and given the age of the house it was likely the drain pipes for the entire house were in similar condition (the house is raised with a crawl space underneath so the drain pipes are accessible). So I asked Mr. Patterson for an estimate to do a full drain pipe replacement project.

After comparing all estimates which ranged from $6K to $8K, I settled on Mr. Patterson whose bid was toward the higher end. Via email I accepted his estimate and authorized payment for deposit of 1/2 of the project price. Also via email Mr. Patterson agreed to the job and set the beginning date. He then notified my tenants of the start date and the hours he would need access to the home, and added If you have any questions please let me know. We'll see you then!

Subsequently I sent several follow-up questions to Mr. Patterson, and my tenants asked a question as well.

The following day I received email from Mr. Patterson informing me that I am going to cancel the scheduled job at this time. I feel like too many unanswered questions keep arising and the job scope is still revolving. I need to focus more attention on my other existing projects at this time.

Perhaps this was a blessing in disguise. For Patterson to use too many unanswered questions as an excuse to renege on our written agreement definitely raises questions about how the actual project might have been handled.

I called Patterson Plumbing on a Tuesday because I needed a copper waterline run for my new barbeque .   Wednesday Jose came to my home to quote the project. He gave me a quote and scheduled the work for Thursday at 1PM.

He arrived right on time and got right to work. Very personable and explained what he was doing and why.  He listened to my requests and finished up in  two hours.

I would use this company, and request Jose , for any plumbing problem in the future.

A friend recommend Patterson Plumbing to me.  I gave them a call Monday afternoon and I was on the schedule for the next day.  Ivan, came out the next morning, on time with the required tools and parts for the job.  He was very professional and clean.  He fixed my fireplace gas line and was on his way.  I had contacted to other local plumbers who promised to show up for the job, but never did.  Patterson is a bit more expensive but worth every penny!

It turned out to be complicated, but because Ivan has 20 years of experience he was eventually able to come up with a fix to the problem. I first called Ivan because I had a clog in my sewer line and the last plumber I called to rotor my sewer line did such a terrible job. I was extremely surprised when Ivan came out on time and explained to me what he thought was going on with the clog. He cleared my line and literally less than a week later it clogged again. Ivan came back and rotored it so that I could get a company with a camera to look at what was going on. Ivan was nice, knowledgeable and even returned to my home to tell me where he thought my sewer line connected to the city's line. His customer service and honesty is hard pressed to find these days. I recommend him in a heartbeat if you have plumbing issues.

I had a significant leak under my kitchen sink and I needed a plumber fast. The plumber we've used for 25 years had retired, so I found a few recommendations on the Nextdoor website and called and left voice mails for two of them. After an hour or so with no callback, I called Patterson Plumbing and spoke directly to Ivan who told me he could be out in about a half hour, after he finished up the job he was working on. True to his word, he showed up not long after and quickly determined that the problem was a simple fix that took only a minute. But while he was here, he also happily agreed to do a few small non-urgent jobs that had been pending in my house for a long, long time. The first of those small jobs ended up being more time-consuming than anticipated, but Ivan followed through and got the job done, and then went on and finished the other two without complaint. Our previous, now-retired plumber was good, too, and I liked him fine, but he had a kind of gruff demeanor. But the first thing you notice about Ivan is how friendly and easy to converse with he is. His prices are fair, the work was done well, and I'll definitely call Ivan again next time we need a plumber.

Just our luck running into plumbing issues before our big move. So when you call a plumber, what do you want? You want someone who will arrive on time, charge the price quoted on the phone, have a good attitude, do the job right, and not leave a filthy mess behind. Pretty simple - right? Well, not all plumbers can do that. But, this one can! Great friendly service, a job done well, and a price that doesn't kill my monthly budget. I highly recommend them for all your plumbing needs. Termite inspection showed toilet leaking under house.  Have used Ivan Patterson before (now Drains Unplugged)  He confirmed what a plumber friend in Oregon told me..Solved the problem, showed me where the issues were and how he fixed them.  Seems the  remodel contractor (very highly respected in the Mt. Helix area) had installers that took short cuts and after 3-4 years the toilet was rocking and leaking.  Very professional - no hidden agendas, no gee you better get this fixed.  Saw the problem, fixed it, showed me all work and once again a very happy client - me!  even though Youtube showed this could be an easy DIY fix, once he removed the toilet it was beyond my fixing ability.  Nice to know there's an honest plumber out there that will fix the problem quickly and professionally - Also after leaving , couldn't tell anyone even worked in the bathroom - spotless!

Ivan is a super nice guy. He installed two new artificial wood fireplace log sets, new gas  range and BBQ line flawlessly. Very honest and zen like.

Ivan Patterson recently installed a new kitchen sink in our home and we couldn't be more satisfied.  He met with us days before hand and advised is on what options were available to us and which were most suitable.  We had an old porcelain drop in sink that required extensive bullnose tile to be removed without damaging the surrounding tile.  Ivan's removal was flawless as was his installation of the new sink.  He is a true craftsman and professional in every sense and the quality of his work is unsurpassed.  I recommend Ivan and Patterson Plumbing without reservation.  

By the way, Ivan replaced 3 separate toilets in our house over the past few years and, like all his projects, were completed on time and without complications.

We called Ivan to install a new faucet and garbage disposal in the kitchen.  After hearing we had our hot water off due to a leak he arranged to come out the very next day.  He was right on time and did a fantastic job.  He consulted with me on how the faucet handle should be set as the new one was larger than the old, so was close to the backsplash.  He gave me his idea of how he would do it and it is perfect.   Every thing looks and works perfect.  He was very personable and professional and it was a pleasure having him in our home.  We plan to call Ivan for any future plumbing needs that arise.  I highly recommend Ivan!

Really great guy.  Had him out to fix a clogged kitchen sink drain one day, he was in and out in a jiffy and rebuilt the drain system to be more robust.  Great price.  Had him back today to fix a leaky bathtub faucet and again he was fast to show up, good price, fast to get the job done, and a really good guy.  I won't hesitate to call Patterson Plumbing the next time I have a plumbing issue!

Awesome..fast service and reasonable price. We live in a townhome and my neighbor had his plumber come by to fix a leaky pipe that was in the shared wall. That plumber fixed the problem but coincidently another leak from the same pipe started? Which soaked our side, weird how that worked out. He also said he didn't want to do anything else. Sounds like a mistake made on his part. Called Patterson Plumbing and they were at my house in 15 minutes and fixed the problem!! Why is Patterson Plumbing excellent, and why is Yelp excellent?

Here's why...because I value the opinions expressed on Yelp, for just about everything.  So when my water heater started leaking all over the garage floor it's the first place I went to, and there was Patterson Plumbing with absolutely stellar reviews.  

This happened about noon, I think it was a Thursday or Friday...and with the hit and miss that you can get from Santa Cruz contractors, the specter of cold water throughout the weekend was looming.  This then brought on the specter of bad smelling people like myself, who can't tolerate a cold shower, or my 14 year old sun, who we can barely get to take a hot shower.  Yikes, this could be bad.  

So I call Patterson - and Ivan answers (that right there bests about 75% of Santa Cruz contractors), and he says he can swing by and look at it in about an hour.  Wow...cool.  So about 1:30pm now and Ivan arrives.  He looks at the water heater for about 5 minutes and says $1575, full replacement, fully up to code, I'll get rid if the old one and says he can begin in the AM.  Now I come from a long line of cheap.  Normally I would say thanks, I'll get back to you - then I would research water heaters for three days, buy one for cheap somewhere and then even try to find a Latino laborer in front of Home Depot that could put it in for $100 dollars.  But then I figured, in the time it takes me to do that, my stench from lack of showering may kill the dog and cat.  Seriously, the old heater was dated 1994 (we got 24 years out of it, greatly exceeding the life span of most water heaters).  So I told Ivan, yes - let's move forward with this.  Get this, he then says I could also do it all right now if you want.  Huh?

At 5:15pm, everything is done.  The old water heater had a glaringly crappy connection to the furnace vent, Ivan fixed that up - and it's all shiny and new, lines are bled and properly braced.  Good guy, talked cars and other stuff while he was working (a water heater conversation).  And lastly, in the mail about a week later, comes a hand written thank you card from Ivan and the wife.  Wow.  Keep doing what you are doing Patterson Plumbing...great, great service.

The hot water faucet in the kitchen refused to shut off.  The only way to get the water to stop was to turn off the valve under the sink.  Called Patterson Plumbing, they were there the same day, right on time.  Diagnosed the problem quickly, Out in less than an hour, leaving no mess behind.  Doesn't get much better.

Ivan is one of those rare service professionals who not only is incredibly competent in his craft and cares about the quality of his work, but also goes the extra mile to make the client comfortable with the repairs in question. My last job with him involved a fairly simple task of replacing old builder-grade water lines under bathroom sinks with new stainless braided ones.  In the process, we identified a weeping shutoff valve and he quickly replaced both the cold and hot sides with new quarter-turn valves. Plumbers work may be expensive, but Ivan makes it pretty painless.

I do not give 5 star rating very easily or often but I highly recommend this plumber! Not only is Ivan  the consummate professional (fast and regular communication, arrived when he said he would, polite and courteous) but he is very skilled and knowledgeable. He solved a very vexing plumbing issue, that others had misdiagnosed, effectively, expediently and cost effectively. He is an extremely hard and fast (I literally saw him jogging back and forth from my house to his truck) worker and I appreciated how he genuinely seems interested in solving the issues rather than driving up the bill. Ivan was amazing! I would recommend his services to anyone. We had a sewer drain emergency first thing in the morning. After public works showed up and told us it was our responsibility to deal with the issue, I called Ivan. He was flexible and eager to help. He showed up almost immediately - only 30 min after I called! He gave me an initial quote based on the work that needed to be done and quickly got to work. Once he discovered there was more to the problem, he worked to resolve the clog and did everything he could to help us avoid a larger cost and pipe replacement. He was here for about 2 hours and kept me updated on the progress as he was working. He was very professional and personable. When the work took longer than expected, he was very willing to negotiate a final price that was reasonable for both of us. I will definitely use him for future plumbing and drain issues that may arise.

Not just on time, but gave me a courtesy call that he had a cancellation and asked if I was available a little early.  Took care of my clogged pipe that was causing the water to flow out of exterior kitchen clean out.  He was very quick and was even able to save me a little money on having to purchase a new plug.  Scraped out the rust and reused the old existing plug which wasn't in bad shape.  He gave me a few tips on the plumbing at my house which was built in 68.  I had many questions and he gave lots of good recommendations.  Price was descent and we even got a hand written thank you card a few days later for choosing Patterson Plumbing.   Awesome service.

Wilshire Fireplace recommended Patterson Plumbing to us because we had a gas leak in the fireplace.  We I called to schedule the plumber they were very nice and gave me an appointment for 11:30 the following day.  

At 11:20 the next day I get a call from their plumber telling me he has to schedule for another day as he has had a lot of calls because of the rain. I was not too happy as they had waited until the last minute to cancel me, leaving me with little option.  The plumber was not happy that I was upset so he told me he would not come out as I had ruined any chance of a working relationship with him, so find another plumber.

I was able to get someone else out and the gas leak was fixed.  I think Patterson Plumbing behaved in an unprofessional manner and I had every right to be upset with their last minute cancellation.

We've had Ivan out to the house a few times for various plumbing needs inside and in the yard.  He bailed (literally) us out of a spot when I was out of town and the sump pump in the yard broke down, and installed a much better pump that has been trouble-free since.  He's also fixed sink, laundry and toilet issues in the house.  Ivan has always been on time, is a great guy and totally trustworthy.

Had a great experience with Patterson Plumbing, called them cause our sink in the garage that was backed up. Ivan came out to fix it, was on time, friendly, and set right to work and fixed the problem in no time. (Had to snake two pipes and put the sink back together.) Priced really reasonable as well. Jose Hernandez came out to our home to fix a gas line so our new oven would fit. He came out within 30 minutes from when I called him which was greatly appreciated considering I would have to leave work early another day out of the week if he couldn't do it the same day. He worked quickly and explained everything he was doing. He was very pilot and respectful and friendly. My husband and I are first time homeowners and aren't so handy yet so he showed us how he did everything such as cut off the gas and re light a water heater. Patterson Plumbing was referred to me by Chim Tech to help transition my nonfunctioning craftsman fireplace to a gas insert fireplace. Ivan was very prompt and professional.  He came out to bid this and other plumbing needs throughout the house the very next day.  I received his bids that evening via email.  When I called to set up the appointment to complete the work he was again prompt & professional.  He had an assistant to help. They finished on time and went over everything with me, including testing the gas line for the fireplace. I will use him again for upcoming projects.

My plumbing presented an unusual challenge and Jose needed to call in reinforcements in the form of the owner, Ivan Patterson.  We live in an older home (1940) and the clog appeared to be over 35 feet from the kitchen sink and was resistant to snake efforts.  Ivan arrived with another snake and the team finally found the problem...a very good thing as I am hosting a holiday party for 40+ people in 4 hours!  The service was very professional, confident and knowledgable.  I was given an estimate for the job upon Jose's arrival and it did not increase even though it took two of them and they were here almost 2 hours.  I definitely found myself a new plumber!

We called for help with a broken garbage disposal and a clogged kitchen drain.  They responded the same day, helped us find an electrician for some electrical work we needed for the new disposal, and got us taken care of very quickly.  Jose, who did the work, was great.  They are on the high end of pricing, so we gave them 4 stars rather than 5, but they do good work and are very helpful.  We'll use them again.

Our family has used Ivan Patterson as our plumber for over ten years.  He recommended and  installed a tankless water heater over ten years ago.  It has been wonderful.  He has replaced our bathtub and shower in two bathrooms.

I used Ivan to do a bathroom remodel in the downstairs:  we added a shower to a half-bath and put the sink in the adjoining bedroom.  To
work this out, we removed the old water heater in our laundry room, replacing it with a tankless water heater and added an additional sink in our laundry room.  To do all this work, Ivan had to rework the gas line, the water lines and waste lines, and set fixtures in a very, very tight space.  
  I am a plumber by trade myself but did not feel I had the talent to work in those tight of spaces so I hired Ivan and could not have been more pleased.  He's probably the most talented plumber I've ever seen,
plus being an outstandingly nice guy and very fair to deal with.  I would
recommend him in a heartbeat to anyone and will use him again

Have never needed to hire a plumber before, but whenever our shutoff valve under our kitchen sink was corroded we had to research who to call.  Called Patterson plumbing after finding so many good reviews about the company.  Called and spoke with Ivan, he was very professional and knew exactly what I needed even just talking over the hone.  Was able to set-up time with him the very next afternoon.  Ivan was just a great guy to deal with.  He knows what he is doing and is very good at what he does.  Price was exactly as quoted, and he was done very quickly and efficiently.  We didn't have a plumber before, but we have one now!  Will definitely be calling Patterson plumbing and Ivan in the future!

Patterson Plumbing and Drain is fabulous.  I needed a plumber this morning for a clogged tub and toilet, and checked out several on Yelp.  Patterson Plumbing's reviews were awesome, and they certainly lived up to their reputation.  I called them and Jose was at my house shortly afterwards.  He was kind, personable, professional, and snaked my outside drain outlet thoroughly and then some.  Jose is a great representative for Patterson Plumbing, and Patterson Plumbing is a great company.  I will definitely use them again, and won't hesitate to recommend them.  Thanks, Jose and Patterson!

Ivan, the owner, was Johnny on the spot with my clogged shower drain.  I called him and he came out within 30 mins. as he was in the neighborhood.  He arrived on time and was so personable, polite and professional.   AND, he had a belt holding his pants up not allowing them to drop a little lower than necessary like so many in this trade do.  Just sayin'...  After spending at least an hour snaking the drain to get past the T he hit mud and explained to me that the cast iron pipe from my 1956 home had rusted out and mud was getting into the drain pipe and that was causing the blockage.  I really appreciated his tenacity to get it fixed.  He told me that he is normally able to get 99% of the drains unblocked, but unfortunately not mine...He apologized and was sooooo nice.  I hope you will consider using Ivan for your plumbing needs and I'm sure he won't disappoint you!  Thank you, Ivan...

We've had Patterson Plumbing out a few times to help us with our plumbing needs (everything from shower issues to irrigation issues), and we've had a great experience each time.  Ivan is always very friendly, polite, professional, and on time.  We're first-time homeowners, so a lot of these problems are foreign to us, but we never feel taken advantage of, and he is very fair about what he charges.  He is always up front about what the problem is and what he's doing, and has great advice about plumbing issues in the home.  I'm continually impressed with Patterson Plumbing and would definitely recommend this business to others!

Great service.  Came out, identified the problem and fixed my water flow issue within 90 minutes.  Very professional.  I will only use Patterson Plumbing from now on.

The service was perfect-- on time, fast, friendly and clean (surprisingly no mess).  The individual that showed up to fix our clogged Washer pipe (the one to the sewer), was very honest with the prices of what was needed and how much it was going to cost. I think I called at 8.30am and they were at my house by 9.30am. No complaints here-- FYI, just a little high on the prices $175.00 for first pipe. There is a coupon for $35.00 off online and when they preform a service, they send you a thank you card and another coupon for $35.00 off.

Ivan, from Patterson Plumbing, repaired the leak in the plumbing underneath my kitchen sink quickly and efficiently.  He arrived at my house ahead of time, and was extremely professional.  He even sent me a thank-you note!  I will use Patterson Plumbing for all of my plumbing needs going forward.  I cannot recommend Ivan highly enough.
