I own a 110 year-old house in Brooklyn.  I have lived here for 33 years.
Our clay sewer pipes are as old as the house and we were tired of late night sewer clog emergencies. So, after 33 years of procrastination, we decided to do the big-dig and have our main sewer line replaced.

In Brooklyn, I found two companies that specialize in Sewer Main replacement I selected Main Man Water Works because they had a higher yelp rating than the other company and my next door neighbor had good results when they used Main Man Water Works to replace their sewer main.  We called Scott, Main Man's master plumber, scheduled an estimate the same week, and started the work by the following week.  

The sewer main replacement took two days, from start to finish.  They were able to tunnel under our front steps and front porch so both survived the ordeal undamaged.  (Hip, hip hurray!!) The new sewer line was installed and working on the first day.  On the second day, the job was finished, including hooking up an active storm drain into the sewer line (somehow skipped on the first day), replacing the cement walkway, and replacing a small section of cement floor that had to be removed in the basement near the pipe traps.

For the main job, the installation of the sewer-main, they know their stuff inside-and-out, and that part was worry-free.  The second day was also ok, but we had to ask them correct a few of the finishing details.

For clarity, here are the finishing details we had ask them to correct.  We had to ask them to spend more time tamping (packing down) the filled soil.  Extra tamping takes more time & delays pouring the cement walkway, but reduces the risk of a sinking, sagging walkway in a few years. When pouring the cement, they initially left out the expansion joints and we had to ask them to add expansion joints (heavy felt strips) in the cement in order to reduce risk of future cracking.  Finally, when restoring the pit for the sewer trap, they were initially going to make the pit twice as large. At our request, they moved the wood backer-boards before pouring the cement and restored the pit to approximately the original size.

In summary, their work is very good, but be prepared to oversee and correct some of the finishing details near the end of the job.

Akeim is professional, knowledgeable and efficient.  When the kitchen faucet in my tenant apartment broke, from the pictures of the damage he was able to assess quickly that I needed to do a replacement instead of a repair and advised objectively on the type of faucet I should get.  Once obtained, he installed it quickly for a reasonable price.  I was very pleased with his work and look forward to working with him on future projects.

Believe the 5 star reviews, we couldn't recommend Robert and Star Cities more highly! We had some plumbing issues relating to our toilet that needed to be solved and after having a few horrible experiences with other companies, we came on Yelp and found Star Cities. The initial person we spoke to at Star Cities was super polite, knowledgeable, and sent us in the direction of Robert to get the work started.  Robert was prompt, reliable, efficient and got the job done and well. Star Cities' pricing was competitive and you certainly get a high calibre of work done for what you pay for.  You're definitely in good hands if you work with these guys!

Long story short...returned my phone call, showed up in less than an hour, diagnosed the issue and fixed it same day...could not ask for more.

I called multiple plumbers in the area and only one returned my phone call, that was Eddie of Recommended Plumbing. I called to have a leaking toilet fixed due to an improper install and repair from another plumber. Since I was at work, he sent me a video explaining what the issue was, which gave me comfort. Most importantly, the leak is fixed and no longer an issue. The fast response and great customer service was icing on the cake. Would highly recommend.

Mike from Austin Plumbing is great! called him at 8AM showed up promptly to help fix my heating pipe leak on a Sunday. Very detail oriented and made sure everything is okay. He seems very knowledgeable. Will definitely call him again for future plumbing needs. 5 stars

I just moved into an older building and my water pressure was abysmal! Landlord told me that Downtown plumbing had installed the shower some time ago, so I gave them a call. While there are undoubtedly many plumbers in the NY area who have the technical ability to do a job well, what's much harder to find is someone who can both do a job well and whose judgement can be fully trusted.

Samir is amazing! I contacted a number of pros about fixing a broken knob in my shower, most of whom either canceled or didn't call back. Samir, on the other hand, made an appointment quickly, texted me when he was on the way, and met me on time as promised. He then quickly diagnosed the problem, went to three different stores looking for the right replacements, even fixed a wobbly part I didn't even tell him about ahead of time. He then  came back the following day on **Christmas Eve** with a solution he created himself. He literally prevented me from either having to send away for expensive replacements from Germany or having to renovate the shower in order to replace everything. It's clear he will work until the job is done perfectly and I couldn't appreciate that more. He's kind, he's fair, he helped me understand the solution he created complete with pictures of the process so I could understand what he was doing and why. I'm so happy I found him and will certainly be calling on him again for future projects I have planned around the house. Hire this man; he's incredible!

First off, these guys responded in minutes, not hours.  Second, they were as nice as they were knowledgeable. It's really no wonder why these guys are on their 4th generation of family owning and operating in the area. I've dealt with many plumbers over the years but these guys are by far ahead of the pack.

Best supply house in queens . Almost always have what I need. Prices are very competitive with other supply houses . The help at the front counter is exceptional . Very knowledgeable staff . This was the best plumbing experience I've had in years. Oscar is smart, professional and timely. He got the job done at a very affordable price and didn't charge a visit/ inspection fee. Definitely recommend to all. He ran a snake for us and found the issue. Then he cleared it up and recommended other things we can do to save money.

I called bluekrait n regard it later on . Never ever again calling this guy. Called this guy on 02/16/2018 n we agree he will come n waited. Then later on he got busy n we arranged next day for service no problem . He came he did try to remove main sewer line cap h couldn't open so he broke the tip on main line as you guys can see pictures that i post . If he would have told me hey this is very serious that you should get fixed a asap before heaving rain came or so that will be flood ur basement. And 03/01 03/02 heavy rain came n flooded our basement with 3 to 4 foot of sewer water . He never mention me and me as a new home owner no idea that i have to go throu hell n cost me  thousands fo dollars in damages our furnance and furniture n oil tank got damage:( please next time warn customer so they won get heart attack from you ).

Fast and quick!they cleared the first clog but they couldn't clear the main sewer line bcoz it needed some digging and they don't do digging!!

AE was recommended to me by a contractor friend who has been buying from them for years. I went in to buy parts for a project in which I have to build an inflation system (balloon that inflates and deflates) so I was looking for valve part options to facilitate inflation and deflation.

The men working there were willing to help me and showed me a few part options. The first man (the owner I think) gave me some switch valves (plastic & metal) and then another man brought out a bike pump valve and a ball valve. I ended up buying the bike valve for $3.

They said they did not sell any small pumps (smaller than large bike pumps they were selling).

They accept returns with 25% restocking fee within 30 days.
