My townhouse was built in the 80's.  Over the past 17yrs I've had several shorts occur (a receptacle melted, a switch burned up and a wirenut melted)  The breakers never tripped.  I assume it was faulty receptacles,  switches or connections in gang box in the wall.  I had another short a few days ago and and could not locate it myself.  I called a electrician I knew (who does commercial) and was referred to David Electric.  I called left a message and Albert called me back quickly.  He came out the next day he was on time and ready to work.  As soon as he opened the door on my breaker panel, he told me it was a major fire hazard and needed to be replaced.  The panel was known to not trip a breaker when it should and thus wires in the house get hotter and hotter in an overload situation until there is a failure - just like I had multiples times in the past.  I later looked up the details on the panel (Zinsco GTE-Sylvania) and found many reputable sources and news articles indicating the breaker panel had been recalled/pulled from market in 1984 (4 years after my home was built) and was a major fire hazard.  Albert quoted me $1500 to replace the panel with my choice of Siemens or GE panels labor, parts, and tax all-in. (I looked up pricing and in the Silicon Valley that is a fair price.) Permit was all set. He even offered to do the online application for the permit. He then proceeded to find where the short was and gave me a very good quote for that too.  He spent 2 hours searching and troubleshooting, including working in the attic.  The repair took another hour in the attic and about 30 mins rewiring two sets of switches in the primary bedroom. (troubleshooting, new wire, materials and repair $380)   He noted I had a freezer in the garage and offered to put a new dedicated circuit GFCI receptacle in for that which would reduce future break trips as my garage and primary bedroom were all (unfortunately) on one circuit and thus spread the load out. (new receptacle location parts and labor $160).  

David was friendly and very respectful of my home.  He was neat and clean, cleaning up after himself.  He communicated with me and answered my questions.  I did ask for an estimate and he gave me numbers via text message which was fine.  He did give me detailed written invoices.  He communicated via text message quickly and clearly. His pricing is very fair based on what I saw in the marketplace and I have no doubts that his work was to code and done very well and professionally.   He's a nice guy and just wants to do a good job.  I would absolutely call Albert and David Electric back if I need any further electrical work.   I'm so happy with his work, I'll be recommending him to my Homeowners Association as we have 10 other townhouses with the same dangerous breaker panels.

Back in June 2021, I reached out to Mike from seeing the positive reviews here on Yelp, and my experience was equally positive. I wanted to run power from our electrical panel on the back side of our house to our garage so we could install a car charging unit that we already owned (Chargepoint). He requested some photos of the location where the charger would be installed as well as photos of the panel, which I sent through Yelp. Once we agreed on a price (which was very competitive amongst the several other quotes I received), he was over at my place in about two weeks. The install took one day, and everything looked and worked great. He scheduled the permit inspection for me and came back on the same day of the inspection to help with that process too.

Overall, no complaints and very satisfied with the work done. I've been using the charger for many months now with no issues.

I called four electricians to install 220v, 110v, and a security camera in the house. These guys were the first to respond by getting Mike out to my house and take a look. They understood that each project was unique and made sure to completely evaluate the house and make sure I was getting the end result I wanted before making a quote.

Mike was extremely knowledgeable and always quick to respond to my questions. I would recommend them without hesitation.

We called JCM Electric when we had an issue at our house during the Holidays, they responded right away, and resolved our issue quickly!   James and Eric were responsive, friendly, and extremely professional, and we will use JCM Electric for any future issues that arise.

Gary did a fantastic job of installing Tesla wall connector for us. He is very fast and responsive.

I just had a new circuit for A/C installed by Richard today. I found him by the word of mouth of a friend and also noticed the excellent reviews he has been getting. He held up his excellent reputations in his service today. He is right on time, and gave a honest opinion in pros and cons of different options I have. The drilling part was tougher than expected due to extra plywood used in construction. He has been patient, polite and telling jokes all along.  It is a very pleasant experience and the service is well worth Five stars.

Great service! I submitted a request online and someone showed up the next day. Fortunately or unfortunately turns out we made a mistake and our outlet was working just fine. It took them 2 min to discover that. They were very nice and didn't charge us anything. I will definitely give Arsen Electric a call next time I have a real electrical issue.

Exactly what I needed. I called Brother Electric and got a quote ASAP, well priced. Excellent service and professional. They did the job quickly, they cleaned up and everything looks better than expected. Based on my only experience so far with them, I would recommend it.

I had Hewlett Electric upgrade my breaker panel, wire my attic for overhead lights, add a junction box for an outside spotlight, and add a junction box for an overhead light in my laundry room.  I got several quotes and theirs wasn't the cheapest, but it was completely reasonable.

Meigs spent almost an hour on the phone with me explaining their approach, what they would need to do, and answering all my questions.  Awesome!

Bryan, Alex, and Luis showed up on-time both days and were friendly and fun.  They teased each other mercilessly while working, which was very funny.  They take a lot of pride in their work, so they were happy to answer questions, explain what they were doing, and generally indulge a curious homeowner.

I had done some research on upcoming changes in the electrical code, so I discussed this with Bryan.  Rather than being annoyed or rolling his eyes, he thought it was great!  He went through it all with me and we decided to use quite a few GFCI and DFCI breakers so that my whole system is code-compliant in advance of the new changes without me having to replace a bunch of receptacles.  Despite not being sold on the benefits, they also happily installed a Type 2 Surge Protective Device (SPD), a.k.a. whole-house surge protector, in the panel.

I also had them re-route a bunch of wiring in the attic that a previous owner had just strewn across the floor.  This involved cutting up some of the plywood sub-flooring, routing and stapling the cables, then screwing the plywood back down.  They cut it such that they could just put the plywood right back - you can't even tell anything was changed.

Bryan even arranged to have a friend take his kids to school so that he could come early on the day that the county inspector was due, in order to install the last few breakers that had to be ordered and double-check that everything was ready to go.  The inspection was a breeze!

These guys do neat, professional work.  There was one little oopsie in that the drywall saw poked a small hole in the other side of the wall while they were cutting out to make room for the new panel.  They immediately told me what happened, apologized, and plastered the hole.

The only complaint I can even come up with is that their final clean-up could have been a bit more careful, but I am really nitpicking here.  They vacuumed and cleaned up 95% of the mess, but I did find a few stray bits of drywall, some stripped wire insulation, and a powdering of drywall dust.  Not a big deal.

I will use these guys in the future for any electrical work I need done.

I have used Ted and his crew to wire my new garage and small jobs as well.   He is very professional,  friendly,  and knowledgeable.

I called because i didn't have any electricity in certain sockets/outlets and the helped me troubleshoot the issue over the phone. I just had to reset the breaker and the lady helped find it too. It was hidden behind a shelf in my house! So didn't even need to have someone come over. Thank you Thank you Thank you!!

Contacted Raphael via Yelp, he was very responsive and prompt. We had a violation for our mobile unit and he took his time explaining the issue and offered multiple options on how to correct it.

Had Araz Electric install a 50amp EV charger.  It required a long run of 6 gauge wire from the panel at the opposite corner of the house to the front exterior wall.  They were thorough inspecting everything and explaining the options, gave a competitive quote, and the work was done cleanly, keeping the wiring safely in the attic and high up in the garage.  Very happy with the result, would highly recommend.

Fantastic experience with CA electric and Kfir! We did a project through Yelp and contacted multiple businesses, we had over 8 responses, 5 quotes and 4 on-site visits. We both felt most comfortable with our electrician Kfir and confident in his ability. (Full disclosure here, my dad is a recently retired electrician but currently a trainer for electrical safety at our main electrical company serving Northern California so I validated my quotes and experiences with him before choosing who to hire). Kfir was very pleasant to work with, answered all my queries professionally and promptly and was quick to relay knowledge on the work without it feeling condescending.

To note on the work quoted and performed: all garage electrical with 3 new outlets, conversion of a single light bulb to 4 led panels, a 220 car charger and electrical for a gas tankless water heater outdoors. Because of all this work, we also had to upgrade our sub panel. Out of all the companies we worked with, we already knew this was needed but he was the only one to call it out and not try to overload our main panel which had a slot but not sufficient utility amp and one of the reasons we felt confident in his abilities and long term consequences of not sizing load correctly. When we asked for fire rated materials according to code (since our bedroom is above the garage) it seemed it was forgone conclusion which also made us feel safe on our choice.

The work was done on time (within a day) according to schedule, and with care for the mess that inevitably came into our home. The new panel was installed, labeled and tested.

I'm really happy with the work done and will do work with Kfir in the future. It's always great to have an electrician to recommend as well!

After browsing a long list of Tesla charger installers, I ultimately chose Fruitdale Electric. Within days of my initial contact, they visited my home and provided a quote, which was much faster than I expected.

On installation day, their technicians arrived promptly. They installed a Tesla gen 3 charger, surge protection, and ran electrical wiring through my attic to the opposite side of the house. Despite the terrible weather at the time, they delivered flawless work.

The location of the charger was a challenge due to the tight space, and I had anticipated conduit running outside of my house. However, they exceeded my expectations and executed an incredibly clean installation with no visible wires or conduits, leaving just a Tesla charger on the wall exactly where I wanted it. Most importantly, my car now charges at a rate of over 40mph, a significant improvement from the previous rate of 4mph.

He was attentive to our requests, he is very professional and answered all our queries. We went back-n-forth a few times over materials but he was very patient with all our requests. I highly recommend him for any handyman work.

These people have a crazy minimum fees and are as expensive they call a diagnostic fee as I have ever seen. The people who showed up seemed very capable, but their company policies are terrible. They constantly handed me exemptions and exceptions to sign and billed over $1000 to fix two simple lights. I was hoping to find a fast, responsive, reasonably priced electrical service, but this just isn't it.
