Best Plumbing Services in Boston, MA
Mike Hickey came to my parent's home during a colder than normal period when every other plumber in the area was booked. Our older steam furnace was leaking and Mike explained how to stop the leak until he could arrive. He quickly fixed the problem and charged a very reasonable fee. We talked while he was fixing the furnace and he was very knowledgeable and experienced in plumbing and heating systems as well as being pleasant.

I would have given 5 stars as they are great and come on time. The only problem I would mention is their billing system is terrible. This the second time I received a statement indicating that I had a bill past due and it was incurring interest charges. I never got the bill in the first place!!! Luckily, they did rectify the problem and told me that they switched to a new system and they had problems with customers not receiving bills. They ended up only charging me for the amount of the original bill. I recommend that after you receive the service, you call the office and tell them to make sure they bill you instead of relying on them sending you the bill.

We've had a few repairs completed by Jeff and he is excellent. He is trustworthy and provides honest evaluation of the problem. Prices are fair and he always fixes things on the spot! We highly recommend!

Was looking forward to getting a quote a couple of weeks ago, but still have not received it and no communication.

I have had a gas fireplace in my house for 10 years. It has not worked correctly for 6 of them. I have had two other companies come in to fix it and neither were successful. I was told I needed to buy a new unit $$$. Mazzini came in and found the problem and wouldn't charge me until they fixed it! I really appreciate their service and integrity.

Excellent Service! Highly Recommend! Ryan is professional, thorough, and knowledgeable. Communication was easy. Ryan got right back to me to set up an appointment and answered all my questions. Arrived early and completed the work as requested. Reasonable price and did a great job! Will recommend to all my friends! Definitely understand why there are so many 5 Star Reviews for A F Ventolieri Plumbing & Heating!

When my apartment's one toilet was clogged beyond my abilities, I needed fast and reliable service. I called Alewife one weekday morning (around 10am) and they had someone come out that afternoon. They were great about giving me a warning call about an hour beforehand so that I could run home from work.
The plumber who visited my house was friendly, polite and got the job done quickly. Their flat rate for a plugged toilet (including travel) is $135, which for Cambridge is definitely fair. They take check, cash and card.
Would definitely recommend, and will definitely return if I need any more plumbing done!

My Hot Water Heater gave out and filled my basement with water. Contacted Lee by phone off of the website. They showed up within a couple of hours and completed the job quickly. They used quality parts and did a very professional job. I'd be quite happy to use their services again in the future.

I found Rich on Angie's List and gave him a call because the reviews he had were so good. I left him a message and he called me right back and we made an appointment for later that evening. Rich was there on time and was extremely nice and informative on my extremely old boiler system, water heater and the oil to gas conversion that was going to take place. Rich then sent me a quote in the mail which wasn't the cheapest but far from the most expensive that I had received and we decided that he was the best guy for the job. Prior to starting the job my husband and I noticed that one of our radiators started leaking and another was extremely loud. Therefore, I called Rich and he came out within a half hour and remedied the problem. When he came to start the job he was always dependable and willing to answer any questions. Rich was so personable that my husband and I looked forward to getting home and having small talk with him. One Saturday he came to do some work and brought my husband and I some AMAZING scones that he gets from one of his other clients and let me just say, they were to DIE for. How many people can say that they got breakfast from their plumber and above that enjoyed having them around?! As far as Rich's work is concerned, the boiler and water heater came out beautifully, when you have steam heat it truly is an art form and Rich is quite the artist. Our basement was literally cleaner when he left then it was when he came in. Needless to say, Rich will be the guy I call with all my plumbing issues.

I called Dan first thing in the morning, he returned my call by mid morning and was installing my hot water heater by mid afternoon. I have been between plumbers for awhile, it's hard to pick the right one. God knows I should have yelped the last crazy, with a capital C guy that I picked! Several calls around, Dan was strait forward and the best price! The work was done within the hour, and the cellar was left neater than when he arrived! I was referred to him by my neighbor, who called everyone in the book last winter when his heat went out. Dan was the only one who returned his call and then came out to see if he could get it going on a Sunday. I am no longer in between plumbers. Dan and his right hand guy Brian are definitely the guys you want to call.

We had Bulldog Plumbing come in and replace a Tankless Hotwater heater after our first, installed by another plumber in 2008, died because that other plumber botched the job. We love our new tankless- they were prompt, professional, did a wonderful job and offered great advice. The new tank works like a charm (it's been in for a years and a half, I had issues with the old right away!) it feels so nice to have a plumber I can trust!

I called White's recently to replace a leaking 3 foot section of cast iron sewer line.
After calling 6 other local plumbers, White's was the only one able to stop by the day the leak started, temporarily repair it, and come back the next day to complete the job. They were decent, courteous, neat, and fast.
However, they charged $2400 in labor for a repair that took 4 hours and about $50 in parts. I expected to pay more for an emergency repair, but not to be taken.
If you are willing to pay a premium, White's will do an excellent job. However, there are lots of great plumbers in the area and I'd recommend shopping around before choosing White's.

Gave an incorrect diagnostic, didn't fix the problem, and attempted to charge full price. Called another company and it was fixed the day they got there. Steer clear of these guys

Conversion from oil to gas.
The team at Boston Standard has been unbelievable. I choose this company due to the in-depth explanation of the options available to me. Leo' s patience with my questions and concerns was paramount in my decision. The cost was a little higher but in the long run, customer was important to me. Other companies were not attentive and it appeared as though I was interrupting them.
There has been a colossal hiccup with National Grid but the Boston Standard team has been there for me 100 percent.
I will choose them for my future improvements.
Thanks Leo, Rachel, Joanie, Frank, and partner. Excellent team!
Grateful customer

They were very nice & came out to service my Rinnai furnace when it stopped working but they were expensive. Also, the furnace stopped working a couple of weeks after the servicing. I was concerned this may have been connected to the servicing but they told me that my furnace was finnicky and it was probably something else. Since I'd paid a lot of money for the servicing I wasn't too happy about that so I had another plumber come look - they told me the reason the furnace 'flame' had shut off was that it had not been properly cleaned during the servicing. Now here I am barely six months away from the original 'servicing' and I have a message on my Rinnai saying that it needs to be serviced again - that's crazy! I'm going to call Rinnai as I cannot continue to have this furnace serviced every 6 months - it's ridiculous...

The worst company I have ever worked with. They do not stand behind their workmanship and would not come back to finish the job without charging me. Would NEVER use them again.

STEER CLEAR OF RODENHISER
I would highly recommend that anyone who owns a house talk to people in their neighborhood and get a personal referral to reputable master plumber. I own a rental property out off of 495 and have used Rodenhiser twice but now have found other options that are far better.
The main issue with Rodenhiser is not the actual work. They do fix what they say. The main problem is the cost. They are easily 30-40% more expensive that an other top notch master plumber. The techs come out to your house look at the problem and then point you to some arbitrary price in the book. And they themselves have no idea how the prices are actually set. The mark up on the parts is obscene as well as the actual labor.
My most recent experience was a hot water repair. The tech suggested installing a new electric hot water heater. Two problems, one he suggested a 50 gal tank which would NEVER work for that property and two, he quoted a price of $2000 installed. I quickly called around and most other reputable plumbers were in the $1200-1400 range, installed.
The other issue I have found is the techs are constantly trying to up-sell.
UPDATE
of course a day after the oil tech supposedly fixing the problem the hot water heater locked out again. I called first thing Saturday morning and spoke to the customer service person and they said that repair would not be covered under their 90 warranty period. I informed them that on the two other occasions that I had Rodenhiser out to do work, a 90 day warranty was always the norm. The customer service rep said that the oil tech told me it would not be covered under the warranty prior to doing the work. THIS WAS NOT THE CASE! Then she said that they could not get an oil tech out there anyway to look at it because he is off on the weekends....So my tenants would be without hot water all weekend.
She said that the tech said I should jut put in a new tank anyways...so they charged $600+ to fix something, which they would not stand behind at all and they wanted to sell me a new tank for $2k...so a total of $2600k+...
