Excellent service! This company is top of the line. Professional and could not be more pleased with the outcome. Thank you for a job well done. We had ceiling fans installed and one developed a wobble. Don came back the next day and diagnosed/fixed the problem.
A+ company does not get any better than Alum Creek Electric!

Lyons Electric Electrician
I had Steve install the power to a couple of outbuildings on my property.  It was a multi-step process that required him to come out multiple times. He was always on time and even re-arranged his schedule to get the job done ahead of time.  He communicated very well throughout the whole process.  His quote was very reasonable and the actual cost was in line with the initial quote.  He did great work and everything looks and works great.  Highly recommended.

Chase Electric Electrician
I've had two experiences with Chase Electric, very different.

The first was simple.  I wanted a timer installed on my pool pump.

Well, Christian responded to my e-mail, came out, did a great job, billed a fair amount, and I even connected with him as a fellow guitarist (he, if memory serves, plays a Gibson ES-175).

Nice guy.  Seemed to know his stuff.  I liked him.

The second experience was more problematic.  One day a week before Christmas 2016, lots of stuff went wrong all over my house in a random way.  Dead lights in rooms nowhere near each other, various dead outlets, no central heat, and the pool pump failed.

The heat was a real problem -- it was in the twenties outside.  I work from home.  My house was freezing.

I asked Christian if he could come out via e-mail, reporting these issues briefly.  There was no response for two days.

This was surprising -- I work for myself too, and if I am awake, not an hour will go by in which I don't check business e-mail.  And Chase Electric has its e-mail address front and center on its Web site, inviting people to use it.

Well, in two days, he did get back to me and said he had some time the following week.  I said with no heat in my house, I needed a faster fix than that... so I would find someone else.  He then suggested an HVAC specialist.

Now, being busy the week before Christmas... that I completely understood.   But it was odd that a master electrician would refer me to an HVAC specialist for this.

Anybody with a background in technical troubleshooting (such as mine) knows that when 5-10 different things all go wrong simultaneously, there is a root cause.  This particular root cause was obviously electrical.  And it spanned different circuits, not just the furnace circuit.

It was therefore something that linked these circuits (meaning either the breaker box or a problem with the city power that led to the breaker box)... as I had suggested to him.

So I knew, immediately, that I had just gotten some dubious advice that was only going to waste my time and money, and I did not hire an HVAC specialist to tell me that my issue was electrical.

Well, Christmas came along and the weather turned warm, and I'm basically a nice guy.  So I wrote him back, and said I'd like to start over with all this, and politely offered him the job again.  Didn't ask for an estimate.  Didn't press him on the timeframe.  Just said I would be glad to hire him.

I never heard a word.

A week later, I troubleshot this issue myself... using a multimeter and some common sense.  The problem was indeed the power coming from the city (a corroded splice on the roof that killed a hot feed into the breaker box).  Then I managed to talk the city into admitting it was their problem and fixing it (not an easy thing to do).

So I'm rating Chase Electric a 5 for the pump timer job, which was great... but a 0 for this recent experience.   Averaged out they come to 2.5, which I'm rounding up to three because he's a guitarist.  But sitting in my freezing house, I really deserved better advice than to be sent to an HVAC specialist for what was obviously not an HVAC problem at all.

Remedy Electric Electrician
Tried to contact Remedy Electric today for a rough quote for some electric work that we needed done in our backyard.  We had an above ground pool installed and required a junction box at the sight of the pool.

I was told by Teresa, and I quote, We do not provide free Estimates, the fee will be 50.00 dollars This will allow the electrician to Determine what is needed to give you the price, If you accept the Estimate, at the Compilation of Project the 50.00 Dollars will be removed if charged.

I'm really shocked.  Of the twenty-two companies with certified and bonded professionals I contacted, today, all of them gave me a rough quote, and every single one of them offered to come and provide a true quote at no charge.  I'm just really surprised that this company refuses to be competitive in its own market!

There's no way I would ever entertain future work with a company so disinterested in garnering my business.  To not even _try_ to offer something... it just smacks of being completely disinterested, and that's not a good sign in a field where attention to detail, and commitment to perfection is vital!

Strangely surprising, and a complete disappointment.

[Also, whenever a professional responds so illiterately, that's a bad sign, as far as I'm concerned.]

--------------------------------------

7/7:

Teresa,
I contacted 21 other companies who do bonded, certified electrical work to get quotes, yes, I did.  I did not say that I contacted them solely by phone.  In truth, it was a combination of work done through email and by phone.  Why that comes as such a shock, I don't know.

Maybe it's just that electronics (like computers and cell phones) are foreign to you, but a lot of us use them to communicate on a daily basis. You seem so confused by the quotation process!

You asked how your competitors knew the particulars of the job?  Simple. They asked me.

As I said, I was looking for a rough quote, and got them from several of your competitors without any confusion, or contempt.  The top three that I'm workings with-- companies rated higher than yours on both Yelp and Angie's List-- saw your response, and had commentary of their own to add. Like, one said, Why doesn't she just try asking those questions beforehand, rather than ranting about them in response! While another added, How difficult is it to respond in email, like we did?  It seems like your competitors weren't nearly as confused about having a conversation on the internet.  For you, mores the pity.

I'm not looking for a handyman service.  I'm looking for an insured company with top-notch professionals.  A company committed not only to excellent service, but to doing a job-- not cheaply -- but economically.  And, seriously, if you think that's a _bad_ thing... it's really no wonder several of your customers complain about your prices (look it up).

Speaking of looking things up!  You might want to look up the word 'slander' in a dictionary (to do this, get in your car, drive down to the public library, ask the librarian what happened to the card catalog, find out they've been out of use for the last ten years, then ask for help on how to do a search on the internet-- I know how much technology confuses you).

You've accused me of maliciously or falsely defaming your company, but what I've done here is simply quote (and verbatim, too) from your response to me on Angie's List.  Then I provided my opinion on our communique.  Everything that I've posted here has been 100% factual.  No lies necessary.  Let's face it, lady, I don't have to lie to make you look bad, you do just fine on your own.

By the way, the word you're actually looking for is 'libel', not slander (one is written, while the other is spoken). I get that you have problems with words, though, so....  I think it would really help if you invested in a dictionary (or, and I'll give you this piece of advice for free (despite how valuable my time is!) You can always use dictionary.com.  Very handy!  Don't worry, no need to thank me!).

Before I go, I had a final word about this cheap, cheap, cheap thing you keep doing.  You said that I said I was looking for the work to be done cheap.  Here's what I said in my original Angie's List response: I'm hoping it's something we can get done simply and relatively cheaply. You have several specials, and I'm not sure if any of them could be used/combined, but I'd really like to see if I could get a quote for the parts/labor.

It's sad when a customer can't ask for quality and value without being crudely mocked by the company they came to for service.  Why anyone would ever work with you... when they can see, word-for-word, how little respect you have for not only a potential new customer, but for service done at a value, too... is beyond me.

Texas Electrical Services Electrician
TES recently completed a great project for us.  We built a new barn and needed Oncor (the energy provider) to place a new transformer near the barn.  TES added a new meter box, and breakers, as well as a circuit breaker box inside the barn to handle 200 amps.  Then they trenched 100 yards to my house and brought 200 amp lines to my existing panel on the house so we could eliminate an unsighly old power pole from our view.  They got the whole thing done in record time, had some great suggestions along the way to help me get power to my sheep shed for heat lamps as well.  Pricing was competitive with two other quotes I had received but these folks just seemed like good people, were knowledgeable, could fit the project in, and immediately stood behind their work when we had questions about how things operated.  We could not have been happier with our decision to use them and the outcome.

BNM Electric Electrician
I contacted Brian to bid on an electrical job recently. Brian was easy to get a hold of, returned calls promptly, and provided my requested quote and information in a fast and efficient manner.
While I ended up choosing another contractor for the job due to their proximity to the service location, I would not hesitate in utilizing Brian's services in the future if I have additional electrical contracting needs.

Always on time!  Clean, sober and professional!  The installation was flawless and they cleaned up after themselves before they left for the day.   I appreciated Trey's dedication and speedy service when all of the other electricans failed to return my phone calls.

Lykos Electrical, Heating & Air Conditioning Electrician
Martin and his team came back out today to install a second Nest Cam in our backyard (we saw great value in having the front door one!). He and his team installed the camera with great ease, while also advising me of 2-3 areas where the camera would have the most impact.

On the way out, Martin was thorough in cleaning up, and even went above and beyond to secure and close up an electrical box in my attic that had some exposed wires (and didn't charge me extra for it, which was nice).

Thanks again, Martin! See you again soon!

Mr. Walton of Walton Electrical Services is a very knowledgeable and skilled electrical professional. This is the second time I've worked with this gentleman and this company is the only company I will hire and/or recommend whenever electrical work is involved. His prices are very reasonable and his work is always neat and completed within a timely fashion. He is punctual and sets proper expectations, unlike most contractors. I highly recommend Walton Electrical Services!

Green Light Electrical Services Electrician
Jarrod is simply the best he was not only on time but called to say he would come earlier than scheduled and stayed later to ensure that everything was working well.  He was helpful in assisting with an installation that was not scheduled as well as he was a pleasure to work with.  When he left I was more than confident that the job had been done well and I would not have to worry about the quality of work.  And although electricians are not cheap he was more than fair with his pricing. I definitely felt that I had gotten great service. I would highly recommend them to everyone and have already re- scheduled him for my next phase of work.

Biggs Electric Electrician
We are giving our kitchen a face lift and with that needed some electrical work done. We had a guy come out to look at what we wanted and asked for a quote.
He said before leaving he was going to put some numbers together and email us the quote- never happened, he stood us up! I'm putting this review in bc they wasted our time and it seemed like the guy was into helping us and being on the same page for what we wanted. He also said he would give us the info before x date, never followed up to that, even after calling him saying that he would send it over the weekend. Come Monday morning- nothing!
If you want to waste your time and follow up to them (should be the other way around) call these ppl, if you want someone to show action to their words- go find someone else.

Doug is great to work with.  Responded to my initial reach out within an hour, got me scheduled two days later, showed up on time and didnt just help me out, but talked me through my options and what was best for the solution I needed.  He was very polite, asked for permission to enter, and if he could walk on the carpet in shoes, and knocked my project out fast.  I will definitely recommend him to all my neighbors, and will use him again when the time comes.

Highly recommend hiring Greg! I was on a time sensitive deadline to get a outlet installed in my garage for an EV car. Greg was quick to respond and meet my schedule with short notice. The work came out great and with a very reasonable price. Don't let the lack of Yelp reviews deter you, this guy is great. I'm sure with time he'll accumulate more reviews anyway. As for me, Georgetown Electric will be my go to for electrical work.
