Best System Maintenance in San Jose CA

Our water heater decided to call it quits by springing a huge leak and gushing water all over the garage.  So, I spent the evening searching on Yelp and found a number of highly-rated plumbers with water heater experience.  I sent each of them a message on Yelp to get the process started.

J&K plumbing responded quickly that evening, asked for a picture of the water heater, and came out first thing in the morning to check things out.  Turns out the water heater was well past it's useful life expectancy - it was 28 years old and needed to be replaced.  They gave me a quote, and I said I would let them know after getting quotes from other plumbers.

After comparing quotes, J&K had the best price - I called them at noon and said I would go with their business.  They went to pick up the new water heater and were back at my house at 2:30pm.  They installed the new water heater, along with the necessary items to bring everything up to new code - flexible supply lines, new gas line, and drip pan.  Everything was done by 4pm.

So within 24 hours of discovering the leak, I was able to get multiple quotes on Yelp, pick the best option, and have it all installed and ready to go. Not bad!

We've had multiple service calls from Wizard. All went well. Most recently, it was not a clear picture where the problem was and resulted in multiple visits. Justin took good care of us even though it went well into evening hours. We can now use the kitchen sink and do laundry. Thanks!

When the burner for my AO Smith water heater broke, I called a few plumbers who cover that brand. Other companies told me that my four-year-old model was discontinued and I would need a new model at a cost of $1400 for labor/installation (no parts included in that because it was still under warranty). Steven, owner of SPS Plumbing, helped me see that the other guys were upselling me, then he ordered the part I needed and installed it for less than $300. Thank you! Great service.

There was an extremely deep clog that built up from all the previous tenants, and Evan managed to completely clear it. Quick service, and an overall friendly guy.

IRBIS replaced our house furnace, coil, and air conditioner. They also added dual zone controls which we did not have before. Dzmitry and Jonathan were the technicians assigned to the job and they were both fantastic. The process from quote to final walkthrough was excellent (all of it done within 1 week). I was notified of when I should expect the technicians to arrive (with detailed map tracking) which I really appreciated as I am working. They also did everything they could to accommodate our thermostat placement which required them to get into some narrow and difficult to access spaces. In summary, I highly recommend IRBIS.

I contacted Bellows Soquel to replace my aging Lennox Pulse and Lennox air conditioner, as well as the ducting in my crawlspace and attic. Everyone from Carl the initial salesman to Russel the project manager to the office staff was friendly, professional and willing to answer the many questions I had. Mikey, the install manager was an outstanding leader of his crew, including Brian, Jamie, Alvie and Rudy.  All of them were efficient and hard working professionals.  My new Lennox system is up and running.  I'm amazed at how they were able to tackle a complicated job and perform at such a high level.  They left my garage and home looking like they'd never been here. When I need electrical work, this has been my go to business. I live in an older mobile home so things have been falling apart more frequently. Pete came over yesterday and was able to address the issue. He fixed what he could and explained to me a further issue.

Vince came in in less than 90 minutes (traffic at 5 pm ) for fixing a bathtub issue.
Trip lever was broken and water not draining out of the tub.
WOW, this man is AMAZING, he kept using his snake 6 or surely 7 times for pulling out hair sitting there for decades, very gross.
When others would have given up after 2 times.
He kept doing the job till all went clean and perfect on high level of work.
Never complaing.

I would give AquaLogic a 6 out of 5 if I could. Eric and Jacob are super courteous and very responsive. They installed a water softener, a under-sink reverse osmosis and backyard bypass for our house. Unlike other vendors who try to sell you over-priced systems, you can shop your own softener and have them brought it to your home. The work quality is superb. We had an installation error partly at my fault. Eric quickly fixed it to my full satisfaction. Here is my two cents: Send AquaLogic an email with pictures when you need their help. They may not have time answering the call during daytime. You'll get ripped off buying a system from large businesses like Costco. AquaLogic guarantees instant money-saving and first-tier work quality. Our family is quite happy about having such an excellent local plumbing business.

Majid is very responsive and knows his stuff well, I needed him twice urgently and both times he came true and took care of things for me.  I will definitely call him for the next water heater or plumbing related needs.

Mike Counsil Plumbing contacted me quickly, scheduled a technician to come to my home to see the water heater, and answered my questions about the various water heater options. The technician gave me  a no-surprises estimate before he started the work.  Mike Counsil uses highly rated water heaters. They did an excellent job on the install, I was happy to get a competitive price which also included the permit. A very professional company and their GM, Patty, was very helpful!

TL;DR summary :  

- Company extremely over-charges for replacement parts
- Company does not take ownership to address customer complaints or concerns

I have spent more than $5,000 with Pacific Coast to replace my outdoor A/C unit and coil over last couple of years.  Recently, I called them again to check out a problem I was having with the new A/C unit.  After looking into the problem, the technician diagnosed it to be a broken capacitor that needed to be replaced (unrelated to the new A/C unit).

The problem is that they decided to charge me close to $350 for the replacement capacitor (see screenshot of invoice) on top of the $560 charge for the labor costs. I don't mind playing $560 for labor but $350 is extremely excessive for a new capacitor.

As it was getting late, I didn't want to make an issue of it with the technician as he had been working hard at it but he assured that they were charging a reasonable market rate for it.  So I settled the amount. But after the technician left, I decided to look up how the capacitor costs and it's a $10 part!!

So I called back the next day asking to speak to someone about this over-charging.  A reasonable markup is to be expected but how can anyone justify charging $350 for a $10 part?  

Over-charging was the just first step.  This was compounded by the fact that no one in position of authority to address my concern would call me back. This service was done in late August 2021 and the only reason why I'm writing this in January 2022 is that I've given this company ample time to address this issue.

I called repeatedly and after repeated assurances that someone would call me back, no one did.  And what's worse is that every single manager that I was passed on to would ultimately leave the company. I finally was put through to the GM (Jim) who seemed genuinely interested in addressing my complaint. He promised to refund me part of the cost and I was OK with that.

Well another two months passed and no refund materialized. I called back yet again and what do you know, that GM has also left the company.
