I'm not sure if all these reviews are authentic. We had a completely different experience with Frank. He kept complaining about his health and charged us $95 to tighten some screws and give an estimate.

Mike has a very charming personality that wins you over, he leaves making you think - wow what a nice and honest man but then you realize that is all a facade. I asked him to come over to look at some corroded pipes. he said nothing was leaking so there was no problem. I told him our disposal wasnt working and that I wasnt sure if I needed to fix it since I dont use it, he said Oh its easy I said Ok.... He never told me Oh its easy, it will cost you $160 because I spent 1 minute of my time.
I have never interacted with a person who deceived me like this. He should have been upfront about the cost - and then I would not think this way. I dont trust him in my home and would advise you not to trust him in yours.

Woke up Sunday morning, on a long Holiday weekend, with our 10 year old Rinnai on demand hot water heater out of commission, leaking water out of the bottom. I reluctantly began the process of calling a bunch of plumbers to see who could come out and have a look. Only one plumber called me back, Renato, from Bushi plumbing. He listened to my explanation of the situation, looked at a picture of the hot water heater I sent him, and recommended it would likely need to be replaced (given I hadn't had it serviced once over the past ten years, my bad!) He also explained all the supply houses were closed, and the soonest he could be out was Monday (the following day, which was also a holiday BTW).
He came out on Monday, and confirmed the unit was beyond repair. He sourced a replacement unit, an actual upgrade to what we had, and had it installed and running within hours.
While he was here, he also found the source of a gas leak we've had for years (other plumbers told me it was mold,) and replaced a ten foot section of pipe that had been slowly leaking and ready to burst.
Bushi plumbing is by far the best plumbing service I've ever hired. I will only look to them for plumbing services from now on. Thank you, Renato!

Very satisfied with Z Plumberz. They are professional, response quickly (plumbers show up within hours), and communicate effectively. Everyone I have spoken to (the sales coordinator, the manager, and the plumbers) are all very thorough with the process. The rate is also pretty standard by Boston standard. I would highly recommend this company.

Came out to clear a blocked sewer main - snaked it for $395. Within 1 day it is backed up again. Tony said his buddy Hercules C&G Drain would come out for a more permanent fix. Came once with an eye popping quote. I asked Tony to come back as his work clearly was not effective the first time around. He gave many excuses, beyond that was defensive and verbally aggressive, and ultimately is not coming back to do the job he was hired and payed to do. Excellent at making excuses. Terrible at clearing drains. DO NOT USE.

Boston Drain had the fastest response from all the other places I called at least for same day service, tech took care of my problem the first time and told me some tips for future use, respectful and knowledgeable. Most importantly they didn't break the bank lol. They'll be my first call if I run into any other plumbing issues in the future.

I was recently assigned Dello Russo as a subcontractor for installation on appliances I bought at Sears. [As an aside, that was a total debacle, and I wish I'd gone to Yale like I planned and found Dello Russo on my own to install! But anyway...]
I got a call from the owner about the installation time and he was very nice and very helpful even though Sears botched the order several times and he couldn't actually do it that day. The day of my rescheduled installation I got a call in the morning that the guys at Dello Russo had worked some kind of magic where they were able to get both of my appliances even though Sears had said it would probably be impossible.
The two installers (one is the brother of the owner) were young guys who were incredibly awesome (incidentally, also cute, if that matters to ya). Fast, efficient, cleaned up after themselves/my horrible gross water mess from letting a broken dishwasher sit too long... (I'm sure they've smelled worse but really, they were great). I feel like a jerk that I had no cash for tip, and I hope that they are paid well by Sears. I should mail something in.
I don't know if they usually travel all over the Boston area, but they came to Watertown. HIGHLY recommended.

I&C Mechanical came over twice for water leaking from a shower. The first time they identified a problem and fixed it, but said that it might not have been the culprit, I should wait for it to dry, and then if it still leaked to call them back. It was still leaking so I called them back to do more extensive work which fixed the problem.
I would ask about the pricing as it was not transparent. I was told over the phone the hourly rate before he came the first time. This is what I was charged for the first visit. The 2nd time he came, after the work was done, I was charged a much higher hourly rate, which was his rate + the assistant's rate. He did not mention this over the phone, he gave me a flat hourly rate. He said that he did not charge me the assistant's rate the first time because it was really a one-person job, but I had no way of knowing this and had 2 confirmations on what I thought the rate was - what I paid the first time and what he told me the rate was over the phone before the visit. From the paperwork it is not clear that the technician and the apprentice hourly rates are additive.
Also he did not tell me that there was a travel charge. So the hourly rate he gives is not the true rate. They round up in half-hour increments.

I had a clogged kitchen sink over the weekend. I called another company. A technician came in looked at the sink and quoted me an outrages $385 for snaking it out. I refused. I called all drain services. A technician called me back and quoted a flat rate of $230 for the job. He said this was their weekend rate and it would be cheaper at $195 if i can wait until monday. I could not so he came in half an hour later. Took him 15 minutes to snake out the drain. He was nice and cleaned up after himself.

I made an appointment with MacCo for the annual servicing of my ac and heating units. The person who answered the phone, Victor, explained that the price was the same as the previous year, but if I chose to pay by credit card there would be a 5% surcharge. I was told that I could choose to pay by cash or check instead to avoid the 5% surcharge. I was also told by Victor that he would confirm the appointment by phone the day before. On the day of the appointment, I never heard from Victor so I called the office to confirm. Victor was rather snippy and claimed he called me the day before, but my phone was busy. He could've emailed me, texted me or tried calling again, but he did none of those things. Also, he said if I looked out my window I would see the plumber's truck in the parking lot. Guess what? My condo is in the back and doesn't face the parking lot! In any event, the servicing of my ac and heating units was done satisfactorily and the plumber was far more pleasant than Victor. I'm not sure if Victor was having a bad day or if he's always confrontational with customers when things don't go smoothly, but the fact is, when anyone works in a customer facing role, they need to act politely and professionally at all times.

Then she completed the rebate application seamlessly and promptly. It saved my time and I felt I have been well taken care of by Leila and Boston Standard on this matter. I would give the best review for her. Because of Leila, I am more likely to come to Boston Standard for my future plumbing needs.

Pro: I learned a valuable life lesson: get more than one quote when you need to get a water heater (or, presumably, anything that is a fairly common plumbing type commodity service).
Con: I'm out $69
The bottom line: Rodenheiser wanted to charge me $2300 for the exact same water heater installation that a local competitor just charged $700. That is some AMBITIOUS pricing right there. I wouldn't be surprised if a good chunk of their revenue comes from providing $69 15 minute estimates, and then moving on to the next home that frantically needs help when a water pipe bursts.

I called for HVAC repair at the start of the cold weather and they said someone would be out later that day -- even giving me a time window in which to expect them. They then canceled last-minute during that window, leaving me without heat after I had already turned down other companies due to my exising appointment with them. The best they would offer as a rescheduled appointment was not for another month.
