Reviews
I have never experienced such expert, professional and courteous
home services as I have with Papalia. Our new heat pump had
gone haywire but Papalia's technician spent an hour at our home
going over everything and explaining all of it to us in a way we
could easily understand. He also gave us some money-saving
tips about how to use the new installation with much more
efficiency than before. This was by no means the first time
we've worked with Papalia, and each previous experience was just as good.
I have used your service for years. I appreciate your honesty, Answer all my question ( I had a lot). Did a fabulous job. I had a new gas dryer put in. I was happy that plummer could come back out in a few days to get it started. Thank you.

DJ did a great job replacing our boiler with a new Navien. He completed the work in one day. Hot water works flawlessly now.
I came home on a frigid night in January to find my 50-year old furnace leaking from three sides. I called Papalia Plumbing and Heating after hours to get advice on stabilizing the unit until someone could come out in the morning. After a short but thorough review of my options, I agreed to a full replacement at a fixed cost. Papalia's team of conscientious workers spent the next 12 hours at my house making sure the job was done right in one day. Had it not been for their diligence and quality of work, I might have lost pipes to freezing the next day. Instead of a reputation for being the most expensive, Papalia Plumbing and Heating deserves a reputation for being the absolute best service, well worth a premium price.
We have used Papalia many times. We have always found them to be available with first rate service. In today's environment, one thinks that it's nearly impossible to get someone to the house to just repair something simple. Or, if it's an emergency, you may not get an experienced Technition.
Most recently, we needed a leaky toilet repaired and an outside spigot replaced. I didn't have any expectations that someone would be available any time soon. I called Papalia just to get on the schedule for hopefully sometime before August. 3 days after my call, both the toilet and the spigot are up and running.
That's amazing, but even more surprising was how flexible Clara and Crystal were with the situation. The toilet repair was more complex than expected and they got on the phone, found the parts, gave me options, and just plain got to it.
I highly recommend Papalia, and will use them again.
PS Crystal had to contend with a pesky rose bush, and Clara had a curios puppy to deal with.
Had a heat pump, furnace, and hot weather heater installed last month and couldn't be more pleased with the work done by Papalia Home Services. They were punctual, neat and respectful of our property, and completed everything as promised and on time. The first morning, they arrived with a crew of nearly a dozen tradesmen and laborers, and they removed the existing equipment and began the install. We were never without electricity and we had hot water at the end of the first day. I work from home and had absolutely no interruption to my work, I was able to take calls and conduct business as usual. Can't say enough about how professional we found everyone we dealt with, from the initial sales person to the tradesmen and the office staff. Highly recommend!

Outstanding service. On Sunday night I requested service online for a leaky faucet. I could upload photos and a video. I could book the appointment online too and it was for the next morning 9am-12pm. I couldn't believe it. The employee showed up on time with a call before as a heads up. Such a professional and pleasant demeanor. Did some investigation, found a replacement cartridge for our off-brand faucet, and came back to replace it. Cleaned up the work area nicely. I was just so impressed. Originally I contacted Papalia bc they had online booking that I could use on Sunday night, but I will 100% call when I need a plumber again. Please check out reviews on other websites, too. This family owned business seems to work hard to provide excellent service.
I was waiting 4 weeks for my plumber of 30 years to get back to me about fixing my kitchen faucet. I finally called Papalia for service. Clara and Cam, two Papalia plumbers, were quick to respond, were clean, competent, and courteous. I will be using Papalia for my plumbing needs moving forwad.

I should have checked Yelp 1st before even bothering to call these people. They won't provide even a ballpark range of what something would cost and they demand $60 to even come out and provide you with a quote. These people deserve to be out of business.
Papalia Plumbing always does an outstanding job. Nick always provides excellent and thorough service.
TLDR; professional service but with a very steep price.
I called Papalia services to switch out two leaking valves on my kitchen faucet so I could replace my faucet. The team that arrived did a great job. Fast and got things up and running quickly. My primary complaint is on the price. The 150 dollar call fee usually goes to the first few hours of work and travel time. In this case it's just a straight charge. All other work on top of this. In my case they were running a promotion so it only cost me 75. After that they charged almost 300 an hour. The original quoted cost was over 700 dollars...to change two valves and strap on a new kitchen faucet I had already purchased. I discussed the price with them and they came down to 600. I was up against a deadline so I asked them to go ahead with the work but I won't be calling them back due to the price.
Ok.. So another update. They refunded me half of the original money so that is good. I appreciate them doing it but I wish it never came to that. Let's see what the future holds.

I called Papalia to investigate an ongoing and frustrating issue with the cast-iron plumbing system in my 70-year old home. While I offered a slew of crazy ideas about how to proceed, during our phone conversation Mike suggested we begin with a videoscope of the main line to see if there was anything obvious. He was very upfront and said 'there's a high probability we won't find anything, but we really should start there.' I agreed and appreciated his honesty. Nick arrived on-time and it wasn't long before we found a complete break in the PVC pipe under my front yard just before the septic tank. Along the way we also noticed that the cast iron sewer pipe under my garage slab was in terrible condition. We decided to fix the septic pipe AND replace all of the cast iron piping throughout the stack and the sewer line. Needless to say it was a MAJOR and complicated job but my wife and I were fed up with the old system.
While it's unnerving to have your plumbing system in various states of disarray for multiple days, I never once worried that it wouldn't be done properly. The entire Papalia crew was amazing. Every morning I received a text message when Peta and Tom were on their way and I even got text updates if they were stuck in traffic. Every employee I dealt with had a great attitude and a smile on their face. No matter how many questions I asked, Peta and Tom took the time to answer them. That means a lot and that's not always what you get when you hire someone.
As a side note, initially I put down a deposit for Papalia to manage and sub-out the septic portion of the job, but I eventually decided to go with my septic company. No problem. Papalia refunded my full deposit for that portion and I had a receipt of the refund within hours. That, among many other things, proved to me that I was dealing with a reputable company that's run incredibly efficiently.
Are they the cheapest? No. But I felt as if I knew of all costs before the work began. I knew what I was getting into and there really were no surprises. In the end you get what you pay for and the peace of mind that came with every interaction I had with the people at Papalia was priceless. Would highly recommend this company. Thank you all for everything, especially Peta and Tom.

I do much of my own plumbing, but have had Papalia do several jobs for us over the years that were more complex or risky than I care to tackle (e.g. installing a water heater on a formerly tankless hot water system, gas piping a heater) and have been very satisfied with their customer service and quality of their work. Granted, they are expensive, but we'd certainly use them again.

I've worked with Jim and his team since the 1980s. The company does quality work, stands by their products and services, shows up on time, leaves the worksite clean, and they are very transparent about costs, warranties, and +/-of products. I highly recommend this professional company.
We have used Papalia Home Services for the past couple of years. We have used them at first to maintain our two gas furnaces and central AC systems. When one of the Central AC systems failed we hired them to install a heat pump with a gas furnace as backup. We were very pleased with their service and hired them to install another heat pump to replace the other gas furnace and central AC system. Both heat pumps are now running very well and we are saving money while reducing our CO2 emissions. We have also used Papalia to maintain our plumbing and been very pleased. Papalia's staff are very professional - competent and courteous. They come during their scheduled window and they are quick and efficient. Being part of Papalia's Planned Maintenance program gives you preferred scheduling and pricing. Papalia is very committed to making sure the resolve problems and they will stick with a problem until they fix it. If they have to come back they don't charge extra. Papalia is not the cheapest service - if that's what you want - look elsewhere. I've worked with cheap contractors before - and I have often regretted it. I think Papalia's service is definitely worth the money. Strongly recommended!
Mark and his assistant did a great job diagnosing the leak in our basement ceiling and making the needed repairs. Super easy to schedule. Totally professional. Excellent service.

Well -- I just got a distressing call from this company after they tried and tried to clear the tree roots from my discharge pipe -- and I paid them three times to try to do it. July, then a week ago and again last night, although it turns out it may not be just roots that are causing the problem. The girls who answer the phone were somewhat impatient, the technicians who came to the house were great and the manager, while pretty good, just called to say he'd rather not work with me. That's fine -- I've been pretty upset about the problem. But, I also run a business and as I told the manager -- when one of my clients is upset about something, I don't walk away, I try to figure out how to make them happy. It's kind of moot, regardless, since I probably would not have continued working with this company anyway -- but it was a distressing end to a distressing relationship.
Enough said. But, if you choose to work with Papalia, you better behave yourself -- they do not like clients who get upset, especially in a very upsetting situation.

We've tried to use this company 3 times now for plumbing issues. Each time we get hit with some type of EXPENSIVE fee just for them to come out AND THEN FIND OUT IT WILL BE AN ADDITIONAL $141 JUST TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. And then you have to pay for the parts...I'm so upset! It's one thing to be expensive it's another problem with the plumbing issue doesn't get resolved! Do NOT USE THIS COMPANY.
Paid 79.00 service call fee to get a ridiculously high quote for the job. 3700 dollars to run a 50 foot gas line. Obviously I wasted the 79.00 and had to go elsewhere. Industry standard on the high side is 25 dollars per foot for the run. They are 3 times that

I'm only giving one quote because the service tech who came to our home was very nice and polite and he replaced the small hose under our bathroom sink that was leaking. But because he did not have the right size hose in his truck- he had to go out and get one. So I was charged for him to show up, leave and get a second hose, on top of labor and parts. It cost $350 to change a hose that took about 15 minutes. WAY OVERPRICED. I WILL NEVER USE THEM AGAIN BECAUSE THEY TOO EXPENSIVE.

Way overpriced. Was charged over $450 to replace a water shutoff valve. Was told by repairmen that the cost would be a little over $200 but they then tacked on another $175 as a service charge.
Had they not finished the job I would have asked them to leave. I was duped with a bait and switch. Stay away from this company.

Mostly neat work, though they made a real mess one time. They do a fixed-price deal. Sounds good, because a job can run over. But they cost about twice what other guys do. I switched to Kirkland and Shaw, and its worked out real well in cost & service.

I needed a new toilet. Seems simple, right?? Well another local plumber came, pulled out the old existing toilet-- and when he put in the new one, it didn't fit properly, and the door wouldn't close... long and short is the other plumber left me hanging, toilet-less--but papalia solved the problem!!! I am forever grateful!
After open discussions with Papalia Plumbing and Heating, I now have a better feeling about this company. They responded positively to my concerns that I had after they completed a service call to replace my kitchen faucet.

Excellent service- showed up on time and fixed the plumbing problem after making an accurate diagnosis
Papalia is always wonderful to deal to deal with. We love having them as our contractors for plumbing, heating and air conditioning. They also got us a new hot water heater on a Saturday! They recently fixed our heating system by changing the expansion tank and the pressure valve. They also replaced the coin slot valves in 6 radiators--- a true labor of love. They were VERY HELPFUL in moving our furniture in front of the radiators. Thank you Clara and Liz! We have been happy customers of Papalia Home Services for many years. With much appreciation!
I realized this past Sunday (9/15/13) that I had a plumbing problem as there was a spray (mist) of water in my basement and the ceiling and floor were absolutely soaked. Because I am not familiar with plumbing I wanted to get someone out ASAP to resolve the issue before it got worse.
Papalia's emergency service was easy to reach and they responded quickly. It took about 2 hours before they were able to show up, but that is what they quoted over the phone ahead of time. They were upfront that it was going to cost $155 for emergency service (just to show up), but I was under a time crunch so I couldn't shop around for a better deal.
The person who arrived (whose name I forget) was a very nice guy. He did explain that low pH could have caused the hole in the pipe. When he did the work he did so in about an hour, which seemed reasonable, and didn't leave any kind of mess in my basement.
My real concern with this company, and while I'll never do business with them again, is that on top of charging such a high rate just to show up at my house (the $155), they charged me $350+ to replace a tiny section of 3/4 copper pipe. I knew this was pretty high, but not until I did my homework afterword did I know just how badly I was ripped off.
Speaking with another plumbing company I found that a similar job, also on a Sunday, might have cost me $250 instead of the $505 it did cost me ($155 for emergency appearance at the house, $350 to replace a tiny section of pipe in about an hour). I feel that they were taking advantage of my lack of knowledge and eagerness to resolve the problem immediately.
Also.. for how big the hole was I could have fixed it with some duct tape until Monday which would have saved me a ton of money. Very disappointed overall, despite the friendliness of the plumber who showed up.

I have been using Papalia Plumbing for my needs for a few years now... I have had them at my house at least 5 times and each time the work was done well and the personnel have been very professional. When needed they are VERY responsive and are the cleanest plumbers I have ever used... Yes the prices are a little higher but to me it is totally worth it!
Best plumber ever. They act professionally -- confirming appointments, texting a photo before arrival and shoe covers. They fix what is broken, and, in the rare instance something needs to be revisited, they do so without a fuss. In addition, the people who do the maintenance and the people who do the maintenance and inspections appear to have been accurate in terms of finding problems that actually needed to be fixed.

Friendly service over the phone and in person but extremely overpriced. I had asked them to inspect two essential home units (my furnace and hot water tank) as both were due for checkup. When i originally scheduled appointment they mentioned their standard 50 dollar dispatch fee which i agreed to. The first set of guys came out (again very friendly and seemed knowledgable) to only inspect the HVAC furnace. Well to my surprise the plumber was not with them. He took just a few minutes to quickly inspect the furnace and replaced the air filter. The inspection + air filter cost me 260 bucks. They were here 15 minutes. With that said, i called the office and cancelled my 2nd appointment with the plumber who was suppose to arrive 1 hour later. I can't afford these guys!!
We have had our home serviced by Papalia for many years. They have never disappointed us with either new equipment or the servicing of existing equipment. The technicians are always prompt, friendly and professional. Very happy!
Rip-off! Charged over $500 to replace 2 outdoor spigots. Work performed was good but way to expensive.
Never use again.
Don't use these people. My husband and I got these people in because of an emergency. They asked about state of house to which we said it was getting worked on this spring. Imagine our surprise when we checked our bill and we were charged twice, hoping i'm sure that we had so much money set aside to fix up the house that we wouldn't notice. When they were called on their error they insisted it would take 10 days to put the money back in. Then when they did put money back in our account we were mysteriously reported to animal control (a finding that has since been resolved in our favor). Don't use these vindictive, greedy people to fix anything.

I have used Papalia for over a decade now. They have expertly repaired and replaced and installed when we needed them. They are prompt, efficient and experienced. The back office communication is excellent. Though not the cheapest available, I am comfortable that I am getting good value for my money. They have repaired condensers, installed new heating systems and most recently a whole house water filtration system. I won't use anyone else.
I don't know how many reviews I should give. Papalia is great. In the last three years, I've had them out numerous times. If it's an appliance in my house, it's broken in the past couple years. Papalia can only fix my big ones:
a sink clog
metal pipe to dishwasher *fell off*
broken hot water circulator
disconnecting broken gas dryer
frozen pipes
leaking faucet
broken a/c pump
Papalia came out and fixed it all. Only charged for one house visit for the dryer and the sink, despite it being different techs, because I called for both visits together. Sometimes, I left a message on Saturday, they called back on Sunday, and scheduled me for Monday. Be warned, though, they give you a window, and sometimes call and ask if they can come earlier! They've never been late!
When my pipes froze, they committed to staying and working it out to find the spot and thaw it. Not easy when it's in a cellar wall. They eventually found it, repaired the leak, and all is well.
The phone staff and techs are all polite, efficient, and KIND. They appear to like my dog as much as my dog likes them. They laugh and joke he is their helper, as they sprawl working under the kitchen sink, and he supervises, hoping for more pets.
$450 -$600 per hour!!! Are you kidding me!
Should have read all the other negative reviews regarding outlandish prices before I scheduled them. While I was glad they answered the phone on a Saturday, they told us they would be at our house first thing Monday between 7:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. They showed up at 8:35.
We had a toilet supply line break so I turned off the water supply to the tank. When they got here they looked over the situation, went out to the truck to write an estimate and came back with a quote for $151 to replace the line. The material cost maybe $10 max. The line was installed in seven minutes and he was done by 9:00. At $151 for roughly 15 total minutes (time to look over the job, go back to truck and write a quote, and installing and totally completing the job). Oh...and did we say they also charged us an additional $49.50 for just coming to house.
I kick myself that I did not do the job myself but one of the connectors looked strangely broken so I thought I'd rely on a professional.
I would strongly encourage you to check with other plumbers before working with Papalia. Outrageous prices! Stay away!

We have been using Papalia to service our home HVAC system for approximately 6 years. Up until this year we would have rated them 3 to 4 stars. Although a little pricey, the service has been good with special recognition to Keith, who has been our Service provider since we began using Papalia. In fact, my wife was willing to wait several weeks to have our HVAC unit serviced so Keith could do the job. On the day of service, no one showed up in the allotted time slot, so after an hour, my wife called. She was told they were running late and that they were not sending Keith because he was too busy. Someone showed up 90 minutes late. The overall experience was unacceptable and we will be seeking out a new HVAC service provider.
6 years later, their was a clog in my sink, I called All drains plumping to fix the clog, and they only changed me $175.00. Big difference then what Papalia Plumbing charged $529.00. Mr Papalia your prices are way too high.

I waited around all morning for them to come in their three hour block they gave me, they were a complete no show. I contacted them to see what the story was and they said they put me in for the week after by mistake. No excuse for that sloppiness.
I wrote a review for Papalia Plumbing a few weeks ago that has mysteriously disappeared from this site but it is worth re-writing.
I was in a panic when I woke up to a flood in my basement and a broken water heater. I went to the phone book and made and appointment with someone but I was apprehensive because I had to spell the name of my street three times (easy one) and I think I woke the guy up ( 9:30am).He didnt ask any questions.
I decided to try another and right away the experience was completely different. The woman was so friendly and concerned...asked appropriate questions (what size heater, gas or electric) , that I decided to cancel the first one and go with Papalia. I was going to be alone and I felt more comfortable with these people.
They called 15 minutes before the plumber arrived and then there was Travis to save the day! The work was done quickly and efficiently. The area was left cleaner than when he came certainly and he explained everything to me. I see a lot of people complaining about the price but you get what you pay for and I am completely satisfied and grateful.
I hired Papalia to replace a central AC unit that was damaged in a fire. Their pricing was cheaper than two other quotes, they did a great job and their technicians were very respectful and personable. I also had them replace a garbage disposal a few months later and they came out within a few hours of my call and completed the work quickly and efficiently. Highly recommended service provider that aims to please.
I should check yelp before calling them. Only Checked the google review and they got almost Five star. Do not know how they achieved that.
I came to this company by my landscaping contractor to install the backflow preventer since his plumber is out right now. Well, the guy came to our house for estimation and the lady answering phone calls seem to be good. But the quote is crazy, it is triple or even quraduple compared my other quotes to do the same job. I do not think they gave They also charge $50 just for the quote. I do not know how they get such good reviews on google. Do not waist your money and time on them.

We've had consistently great experiences with Papalia - they are easy to contact, responsive, and thorough. Their team will look at things you forgot to mention when you called, tell you how to fix them, and set up a time to come back. I can't think of anything I'd want from them as a plumber that we haven't gotten.

We have used Papalia for 4 years now, including an annual maintenance contract for our HVAC (condo with gas heat & water, electric ac). They have always been very professional and knowledgeable, on time, and great with communication (a major problem with many contractors). The only minor nit we have is that you need to schedule well in advance for regular maintenance, as they are *very* busy. (Emergencies are no issue.). We highly recommend them to all!

Their administration was so professional when I called to request a quote and they answered their phone in two rings. However, when I met the plumber in person to quote a lot of work at my new home I was greeted with a horrible attitude and a Can't do attitude. They wasted my time and simply created more hassle than it was worth with their plumbing tech's lack of professionalism.

My AC was broken during a heat wave. Scheduled an appointment with Papalia for two days from when I placed my call. Got a call AT THE TIME of my appointment telling me that they are sorry for the inconvenience (it is 90 degrees at my house and another company could have came) and they can reschedule for next week. Today is Tuesday. Not reliable and left my family in hazardous conditions while notifying us last minute!

I've used them 2x. First time the work was fine but very pricey. 2nd time, also very pricey but horrible service. I thought I might have a leak on my outdoor faucet but it could have just been the way the wood was stained. Plumber agreed it was not a leak. Later he said it was and charged me a ton replace it. In doing so he also remove vent screens to my crawl space that kept mice out but never replaced them. Thanks for a house full of mice, jerk. He also installed an indoor faucet which was decent work, but at $300 an hour, I will never use again.

Can't say enough how great the service was from start to finish with installation of hot water tank. Plumber, DJ went above and beyond not only to answer all my questions about the new hot water tank but also to answer and make great suggestions with other plumbing concerns. 100% recommend this company.
We bought a new house and our inspector suggested getting our boiler skimmed as regular maintenance. I called Papalia because it was easy to get something scheduled and quickly. Everything was communicated through email, but what they don't tell you is that your appointment time is actually an hour window. If I had known that in advance, it would have saved a lot of headaches. For a 20 minute process, they charged over $260 because there is a $80 dispatching fee. Why? I'm not sure because it was not an emergency procedure. I though it was a big rip off and I had called the office to talk to a manager about the miscommunication to begin with. And guess what, never received a call back.
I love this company and have used them all the time for my plumbing needs. They have replaced a water heater, replaced faucets both inside and out, as well as replaced faucets and fixed leaks. They even removed a gas heater for me. They are friendly, reliable, and clean. I highly recommend them!
Used them to repair one heat zone which broke after pipes froze. Phone support is good, somebody always answered calls during business hours and I was able to speak to a technician when I had follow up questions on the quote.
Job was quoted using fixed prices per job, so not much room for negotiations.
Overall, they fixed the problem and were always reachable. technicians were polite. would definitely use again.
Needed a simple drain collar replaced in my old bathtub. They spent less than 2 hours and, for parts, used about 1 foot of pipe. That's it. Access to the tub was easy as the ceiling below the tub is a drop ceiling. They charged me almost $800 for that job! Soooooo plumbers make about 400 an hour? Wow. Additionally, the porcelain around the drain was left chipped with a hairline crack. I didn't complain because it just a couple of small chips and I plan on having the tub repainted anyway. But geez . . . at that price I'd expect the tub to be in the same condition as they found it.

Overpriced as others as said. I was charged nearly $800 to to replace a malfunctioned safety shut off valve on a hot water heater with a new valve that costs $150 at any hardware store. The work and service was good but labor and parts cost is overpriced.
Edit: I just saw the owner's response. $533 to do an AC check up and add 3 pounds of refrigerant. I have a receipt. You be the judge!
Wow, did I just get ripped off! Papalia did some service work following an AC tune up. The estimate actually seemed very high, so while he was doing the work I called two other local AC contractors to see what they would charge to do the same thing. The HIGHEST of the two bids for the tune-up and service work (assuming it was even necessary) was literally just less than half. The tune-up cost more at what I consider to be the reputable competitor. The estimate for the service portion was 30% of Papalia.
I talked to the technician about it before he left. He did a dance when I asked him how he was able to estimate a price before knowing how much R22 was needed for the job. He did give me the name of his manager to call. The damage is done, in my view. Papalia has NOT tried to follow up in any way.
How do I get that SUCKER sign removed from my forehead?
The old adage is: you can get the short dollar or the long dollar from a customer, but not both. Papalia seems after the short dollar. They maximize their revenue on every service call. Maintaining a long term customer relationship is less relevant in their business model. Unless you are a trained plumber, they'll tell a good yarn and walk with your money. We stuck by these guys for over a decade and they stuck it to us. I feel stupid for trusting them and not firing them years ago. We consistently went without proper heating in the main living areas of our home for six to eight years, while these guys came in and put bandaids on things as opposed to identifying and fixing the underlying problem. We could have replaced the unit for less. I take the blame; it's on me for trusting Papalia services reps repetitively against my gut instincts. Be forewarned...
Papalia replaced our furnace and air conditioner with a new heat pump. The estimate process was easy and prompt. The installation was done on exactly the date promised. A good-sized crew did the entire installation and removed all the old equipment in about 7 hours. They explained everything we would need to know, and they connected the thermostat to our wi-fi for remote controlling. Six months later they did the seasonal inspection. They didn't just change the filter and dust the equipment, they actually performed electronic diagnostics on the equipment. The system has worked flawlessly and we will continue to use Papalia for maintenance in the future.
They also provided us enough documentation to get a state rebate on the heat pump purchase with no difficulty at all.
We chose Papalia because one of our neighbors had a great experience with them, and we were not disappointed.

I used them twice- the first time was good- nice plumber, OK price, good work. The second time (last winter) the nice plumber had quit, the job was simple (replace pump in basement sink) and I realized later I was TOTALLY overcharged (I am beyond embarassed to tell you what I paid.) I think they have become a rip off. I need a plumber again- that is why I am looking on Yelp - but I ill never use them again.
Way overpriced and a huge ripoff. I will never call them again. They came out to tell me I had to replace a 4 foot plastic pipe in order to unclog a drain. Two technicians to replace a pipe in 15 min. And charged me over $500!! Will never use them again.
I was told the charge was $79 for a repairperson to show up. The repairperson showed the day I made the call--that's good. Then I was informed I would be additionally charged up to $200 to have a diagnosis made from water leaking from a refrigerator pipe. They did find the problem very quickly. It was an appliance problem so they couldn't fix it. Nevertheless, for the 10-minutes it took to diagnose my problem it cost me $79 + $125 = $205. That's a lot and for 10 minutes, I consider it a ripoff.
we had a clogged drain and the plumber came within 24 hours and fixed it. friendly and timely service. love this local business

I've been a happy customer for several years . Be it plumbing repairs, hvac maintenance or any emergency that might pop up, this is the one place to call for fast efficient service. I can always count on a service rep to complete the task in a most professional and expedient manner. Papalia has NEVER disappointed me and I would highly recommend you call them to tend to all your needs. You won't be disappointed.

I had Papalia come to my house a few months ago because I had a plumbing problem. They fixed the problem right away and then asked me if I'd like to enroll in their preferred customer program. I said yes, and now I get 3 visits per year (one in the fall for heating, one in the spring for AC, and one other of my choice, which I think will be plumbing inspection). The cost of the 3 visits is $139/year, which I think is very reasonable. Knowing that Papalia is there for me gives me great peace of mind, and I recommend them highly!
Easy to find a person to talk to. Appreciate that they email appointment confirmations, estimates and invoices. They text when they are on the way with the name of and a picture of the technician. Clean, reliable, professional and helpful. they get the job done.
Keith was at my home at 6:30AM today to diagnose why the furnace was not staying on. He figured out the problem and fixed it. Then, he took an extra 4 minutes to explain what had happened and why. Very efficient. He was here for less than 20 minutes total.
We had a drain issue that involved the washing machine, utility sink, and line from the kitchen sink from the floor above.
The team snaked the lines. Verified they were clearing all the way to the main.
Kept things clean. Explained what they were doing and why.
Very professional and considerate to our concerns and questions.
Thank you.
I have been using Papalia for semi-annual HVAC maintenance for two years now and have been very pleased with their service. They are very reliable make sure that you are satisfied with their work. Very professional and careful about your home.
While they diagnose stuff quickly, their prices are pure ripoff! Do not use them.
I used them this week. Tech diagnosed the reason our furnace was not turning on was because of pilot not being on (I already told him that) and then he found that the thermo couple needed replacement.
The part costs about $30 max. The quoted price to fix $325 + $50 dispatch fee - pure ripoff. It was less than 25 min of work for the technician.
Based on the cost, I told him your hourly rate are more than a neuro-surgeon (they charge $450/hour) and he was smiling.
I refused to pay that amount, he finally changed some codes and we settled for $250, which is twice the amount for that service.
PLEASE DO NOT USE THEM UNLESS ITS EXTREME EMERGENCY!!!

We continue to love Papalia for their expert work, courteous and knowledgeable technicians, and responsive office staff. We just had Clara here to install a new vanity/sink/faucet, plus she fixed a leaky kitchen drain pipe. We love Clara! We've also been very pleased with other Papalia plumbers in the past.

These guys were fantastic. Fast, responsive, clean (they wore booties in my house). Their customer service was extremely responsive and they arrived when they said they would, and I felt that the rates were more than fair for the work performed.
To the review that whined about them not providing a ballpark quote over the phone I'd say - would you rather have them get their quote right? Or throw you a number out of the air. They're not selling widgets and I personally appreciate the integrity for them to provide an accurate quote after seeing the job-site and judging what's required.
i recently had an issue with my hot water heater going on and off. i called a bunch of different companies and papalia was the only one that returned my call.
they came out the next day and to my surprise two females showed up at my house. girl power all the way. they were friendly and informative and kept me in the loop the whole time they were here. they even had to leave twice to get a part. first one they picked up didn't work. i would call papalia again in a second.

my air conditioning and furnace had to be replaced. I had gotten two quotes from other companies and they were extremely over priced and were also pocketing rebates for the replacement. I had Papalia come in to give me an estimate and they were priced correctly with what a job like this should cost and provided all the rebates that I should be getting. Dave was great he didn't come off as an obnoxious sales person like the previous companies. I would recommend them to anyone who needs work done.

Extremely unreasonable/unfair pricing. We had an issue with our furnace that ultimately requiring a new control board. The total job was $933. Of that, the dispatch fee was $39 and parts were $332. Somehow the rest ($562) is labor.
It took the tech 2 hours to drive from Chelmsford to Nashua and back (a trip we do in an hour easy). Plus about 20 minutes while I watched the guy browse the web on his phone in my driveway.
Then it took the tech about an hour to do the actual install.
So that comes to around $180 an hour.
While I understand people have to make a wage, this is excessive and I'd recommend people avoid this company so they don't also get overcharged. Note: we were given an estimate, however not having heat we had no choice but accept the pricing. SEEK SERVICE ELSEWHERE!
I called Papalia Plumbing & Heating to take a look at a leaking 10-year-old electric water heater. They do charge a basic fee to come look and give an estimate. Many established companies and contractors do this, especially if they're not dirt cheap or hurting for business, because it takes time from other work that could be making them money. It is irritating, but I get their perspective.
The plumbers who came were on-time, knowledgeable, efficient, and kept the job site clean. Once here, they did a thorough inspection and gave 2 prices - for either fixing the tank or replacing it. I was given the complete price of each option in an email before they started any work. I could have said no thanks and just have spent the $50. Papalia was not the cheapest option, but they did good work. The cost was within $150 of the estimate given by Angie's List for this type of job. I haven't had them do a small job, so I have no personal experience with prices for that type of work.
Our furnace replacement with Papalia stands out in our minds as having been a massive, massive ordeal. Their technician initially came for a pre-winter service, but while here he diagnosed our old furnace, which we had not yet started up for the season, as dead. Fine, we opted to have them replace it. He told us he would put in the same size one as the old one; 80,000 btu. Fine. The work was done, just in time for a downturn in the weather, and immediately we noticed that the house was cold, and the furnace was running nearly constantly despite it not yet being that cold out. The new furnace was not warming our house nearly as well as the 35 year old one it replaced. The moment I raised this issue with the company they started criticizing various aspects of our house (old, uninsulated, improper ductwork, etc.) and that IF these things were better the furnace size would be fine. I pointed out to them that nobody thought to mention these things BEFORE selecting a new furnace for us. I also noted that the new furnace, while having an input Btu of 80,000, only had an output btu (the btu that apparently matters) of 63,000. Eventually, I wrote a letter to the owner, who did not contact me himself but had a polite and helpful manager contact me. The manager said they would do a detailed calculation called a Manual J. Fine. This was done, but the results were not made known to us. The manager simply told me that our furnace would be replaced by them with one that had an output of 80,000 btu. The new furnace was installed, and I noticed that it has an output of 96,000 btu. I brought this to the manager's attention, because this new furnace now seems oversized, and he said as far as he knew his team was supposed to install an 80,000 btu one, and that he would investigate. After this, both Papalia and we lost the thread of this debacle. We were worn out by it, and I assume they were too. My wife and I missed a few half and full days of work each as Papalia tried to sort things out. There are two stars here, and not one, because they did try to sort it out. But so much work was missed by us, this dragged on for so long, and we had to have a cold shower on the morning after the initial installation because the technician forgot to reignite the water heater's pilot light after shutting down the gas to do his work! Lastly, we have been hounding them to no avail to get the required city inspection done. Three months have passed since the first visit. This all just felt very, very shoot-from-the-hip at every step, and we still don't feel like we have the right furnace and we still haven't had a city inspection.

We needed a new tankless water heater installed and we began calling the manufacturer's recommended list. Most of the listed installers went to voicemail and NONE ever returned a call. At Papilia, a live person answered my call. That was the start of a very positive experience, with scheduling, rescheduling, permits, installation, inspection. They did it all and managed the process from start to finish. The price was exactly within the range of what research had indicated that I should expect to pay and it was worth every penny. Not only was the installation done all in what was one very long day for our technicians, it was done with minimal disruptions while we worked from home. No hassles, friendliness, great customer service, good value. I would definitely use them again.
I am writing another review because I had another emergency and Papalia saved me again! Radiant heat systems were not functioning in 0 degree winter weather! I am so pleased and grateful for Papalia's help--on Saturday night and then again on Sunday morning! Professional, competent, courteous. I am so thankful they came and helped and fixed the issues.

I refuse to use this company. I called to schedule an appointment, and asked what the hourly rate for work was. They told me the rate was not hourly, but was fixed on a per-job basis. So I asked the pricing for replacement of a shower fixture. The office told me that they could not disclose the pricing -- I had to ask a technician, but to speak to the technician was a $49.50 service call fee. The office staff insisted that no one in the office has any idea how much the technicians job fees are.

Trying to get some minor bathroom plumbing work done, and estimate a larger heating system project.
They charge $79 to just come out, and they won't give ballpark estimates at all over the phone, so if you don't like their on-site estimate when they've already charged you the $79 dispatch fee, you're out $79 and have to look for someone else.
No bloody way...
Our kitchen sink was really clogged. The techs from Papalia rooted it out quickly, efficiently, and with professionalism.
I need to replace a hot water heater and they gave me an $3000 estimation and its double the price other gave
I needed a new hot water heater and was interested in switching to a tankless system. Seamus, a plumber and someone who actually services and installs systems, came out to talk about it. He gave me lots of detailed information (this guy knows his stuff!) and answered all my questions patiently. On the strength of his advice, I went forward. Seamus actually did the installation and he did an excellent job. He and his co-worker worked quickly and diligently and were very careful to protect my floors and rugs as they removed the old water heater. They cleaned up completely when they were done, and took the time to answer lots of questions. This was a couple of weeks ago and I absolutely love my system. Seamus was right in everything he said. I am so glad I went with Papalia.
They had recently done an annual service. The HVAC unit was now leaking, but not heavily. He rechecked the main system and everything seemed fine but there was obviously a problem. He started checking all the areas that water would come from and the overflow seemed slow, not fully blocked, he vacuumed it out with an obvious change in the vacuum as something moved and it the flowed freely. It turned out that an overflow pipe had become partially clogged and was overflowing onto the floor. This is what I want in service, someone who thinks.
Called them for a no-heat situation on a heat pump and they were able to schedule a service appt. by the next day (my regular heating guy couldn't get to me until the day after).
The service technician came and pretty quickly and professionally diagnosed the problem and fixed it. He recommended the unit be replaced, so I asked him to provide a quote to do so.
Up until this point, the company would be given a solid 4 stars (pricing is a little high).
But once I asked for a quote on the unit to be replaced, it all went down hill. They have to schedule a separate person to come out to take a look at things and provide a quote. Earliest appointment was 2 weeks out, but I took it anyway.
Guy comes and asks a bunch of questions that makes it apparent he never spoke to the service technician. After looking things over, he texts me repeatedly about follow-up questions about the unit and the quote I'm looking for. Explained I just want whatever replaced that *their own service technician* recommended!
Going on 2 weeks now, never heard back from them, even after an attempt at a follow-up email. So yeah, I guess for service, they're okay. But if you're looking for new/replacement equipment, their effort to provide me a quote was a joke & a hassle.
I called Papalia based on some great reviews I had seen on Angie's List. We weren't getting any Central A/C inside the home. When I called, I was told there was a $79.00 dispatch fee for a tech to come out and diagnose the problem. Simple enough. (I was not told that they charge by the job and not by the hour.) In the meantime I had done some YouTube research about losing Central A/C and learned it is usually caused by a failed capacitor. A replacement capacitor runs about $20.00 on Amazon and is a job that can be done fairly easily (excellent videos on this on YouTube). The tech showed up promptly, and sure enough, it was a bad capacitor. The tech repaired it in about 20 minutes... to the tune of $450.00!! The repair itself was $371 and they added on the $79 dispatch fee (usually this is rolled into the time spent on the repair). When my wife told me, I called and complained, and at the end of the day, they did refund the dispatch fee so the total was $371.00 to do a job that a handy, CAREFUL homeowner could do for $20. You make the call: they charge by the job, not by the hour. Be prepared to find someone who charges hourly.
We have used Papalia for several years for plumbing and HVAC services. They have been outstanding for both. Whether checking for a gas leak, dealing with a toilet backing up into a shower, doing routine HVAC maintenance, or helping route a dehumidifier into a sump pump all of our techs have been polite, knowledgeable, effective, and cost-aware.
I have used Papalia Home Services three times now for various plumbing issues around our home. Every time they have been very professional and responsive. Great communication on setting of the appointment and their follow up reminders. You are never left in the dark about when they will be at your home. They even send an email about an hour before with a picture of the technician that will be at your home. The quality of their work has always been top notch. Everyone has been very friendly and professional.

We had used them for a few jobs over the years and were satisfied. That has changed recently. They have become ridiculously expensive and only charge a flat rate even for the simplest job. On top of that, even after years of being a customer, they wouldn't give me a quote on a common toilet repair over the phone. 79 bucks for the quote,in home only. They said even though I was a repeat customer I didn't have an active account Told that I'd be seeking another plumbing company they said OK and hung up. Got someone else who did the job in an hour and cost 80% less than the flat rate used by some companies.
Best thing is that now I found a reliable and reasonable plumber.
I have been using Papalia Home Services for years and have always been extremely satisfied with their service... quick to respond.... assessment and resolution of problems are spot on....friendly and professional...Clara is just amazing!!!...I would recommend this company in a heartbeat..

Papalia helped out of a bind when the plumber we had used many times over the years confirmed that we needed to replace our Power Vented Hot Water heater but could not commit to doing the work for at least 3 weeks.
Peta, did an amazing job with the installation, keeping us informed of his status as the day went on. Peta also was extremely diligent in cleaning up after he was done.
I would highly recommend Papalia and we will definitely use them again for our future plumbing needs.

We had Papalia do a sink fixture replacement about a year ago. We were satisfied with the work and the price. But after a few months the sprayer attachment began to make noise and leak. They came back and replaced it for free because they had a generous 4-year warranty on faucets. A few months later, the sink spray attachment pulled off the flexible hose and water went everywhere. This was on a weekend. Papalia sent a plumber out and he said the problem was a defective connector and that the part was still covered under warranty. At first, he said they would charge $155 for coming out on a weekend. After further discussion with the office, he said they would waive the $155 charge. In the end, he put in an entirely new faucet and spray attachment for no charge. It seems to be working fine now. So what to conclude? On the positive side, they did respond promptly and honor their warranty without charging us anything. But they have been back twice to fix problems with something that shouldn't be breaking. And their special weekend charge seems a little steep. So I'll cautiously give them 3 stars.

What would you think about a company charging you for the plumbing estimate? My experience shows that they profit from this evaluation service rather from plumbing work itself. Fact - I was charged a standard estimate quote fee - 40$: for a gas-line extension and sink relocation in basement (in order to install washer and dryer) a rep from Papalia has calculated a whopping $2.7K! I was in shock! The whole estimation process took 15-20 minutes, 20 visits a day - and these phonies legally earned 800$ without doing a thing, what a sweet business!
By the way another plumber servicemen recommended by my colleagues as expensive, but very good, charged me only 900$ for the same plus installation of the appliances.
My recommendation - If a service company asks you to pay for a visit, they almost for sure know upfront that their prices aren't competitive. DO NOT HIRE Papalia and such.

I would echo other posts that their pricing is extremely high. No amount of satisfaction with their work would justify their prices (over $400 for 35 minutes of work). Please consider other plumbers who will not gouge.

Time for our annual maintenance to be done on our Mitsubishi minis. Service person came on time (with a pleasant smile), and proceeded to conduct the maintenance. She was profession, very knowledgeable, pleasant, answering all our questions and concerns. Above all, Lily was very detailed and focused on doing a thorough and detailed service of our equipment. A real pleasure to have a pleasant and fully qualified technical person visit us. Thank you Lily and all of the Papalia Home Service group for providing your continuing great service.

Great service helped us assess leak. They were prompt in getting back to us and sent highly qualified plumbers
ok, update. The owner of Papalia Plumbing reached out to me and discussed the situation. As he mentioned in his comment, I would have been ok (may not be happy), had the 2nd repair on sunday, leave something on the invoice mentioning that they will waive future trip fee instead of doing nothing and charge me $150. I am happy that Jim came out with the first repair person to take a look at the boiler. They think they have a possible fix. However, since based on the 2nd repair person's comment, I already started the process of getting this boiler replaced, I declined that. Jim then offered partial refunds for the two trips. Hopefully will see it soon. He also mentioned that for the future, they will waive trip fee for return visit (i.e 1st repair was not complete or misdiagnosed) as a policy change. I think that is the right thing to do and if that comes to pass, I will upgrade this to 4 stars.

Great as always ... responsive to our emergency need, great service, competent and friendly.
I originally switched from a competitor to Papalia about two years ago after being told that my heating failure in November would need a month to get service to show up by the competitor, even though I had a prepaid annual contract with them. I called Papalia after seeing one of their trucks drive by as the situation and weather were extremely cold. They came only two days later and after diagnosing the problem, were able to get a complete repair done in just one day with no additional visits. It's functioned perfectly since.
Recently, they came to the house after an AC issue almost immediately on a very hot Saturday and the technician Brendan was able to fix a major problem in just minutes with a simple explanation and a tweak to my fixtures.
I've used them for plumbing issues also. One major like about their training is that their team always explains what they are doing, going to do and afterwards, how to watch out for future maintenance concerns. Additionally, they once made a repair that didn't work. Upon returning after a call, the technician immediately apologized due to them making an installation error, she came back and fixed the problem, apologized again for the inconvenience and made certain that I wouldn't be charged for the additional work.
Amazing service! We used their service for urgent gas leak complaint. It took 2 days overall to figure out the issue and resolve it. Technician went above and beyond to resolve the issue to get the restaurant up and running. Clearly explained what they were looking for and walked us every step of the process. Would recommend them 110%. Thanks for prioritizing and doing amazing service in this holiday season.
Great service and HONEST pricing no jack up after the cost. The workers treat me like family. Well verse on their knowledge on explaining the job in my language and not their terminology is great.
Great is once a year Papalia Home services comes out and check on things.
I been with Papalia Home Services for over 2 years.

My Chicago kitchen faucet sprang a leak. The spout came off. I called Papalia, which had the largest advertisement in the local yellow pages book. The lady on the phone said they could come the same day, and that there would be a 39 dollar visiting charge.
When the plumber came, he told me there would be a 139 dollar 'diagnostic charge' to see what's up. He spent about 10 minutes noticing there seemed to be some o-rings missing. Then he told me by the time he got the parts for the chicago faucet, that it would end up costing the same as choosing a new one. He said the install charge would be $349. This would not include the price of the new faucet unit. So I paid Papali $139 dollars to tell me I needed a new faucet unit.
I called Chicago faucet and they said they would send me the parts free of charge.
I think the fees Papalia charge is outrageous and I will not use them again.
Follow up: I received the parts, for free, from Chicago faucet, all I needed was three specialized washers - that was it. I know that a lot of plumbers are not familiar with Chicago faucet stuff, because it is expensive (and high-quality). But to hear the Papalia guy tell me that I should get a whole new faucet system (approx. $600 installed) was ridiculous.
TOTAL RIPOFFS, had a plumber replace a shower cartridge . He was there for 50 mins, pulled the cartridge out, replaced it, cost us $447 ,seriously,,,,,,,, DO NOT CALL THESE A HOLES, THEY'LL RAPE YA.
Bryan came promptly and took care of our furnace right away. I liked that he had advice for how we could extend its lifespan. Even though the weather was dry, Bryan kindly put on booties to keep any dirt from coming into the house.
I also appreciated having the office text/email me to confirm the appointment in advance, check on our COVID status. Then on the day of the appointment I was alerted he was on his way and sent a photo so I knew who would be coming. I really think that Crystal keeps on top of things and is a *terrific* communicator.

I wish I had read these reviews before I hired Papalia.
The $79 dispatch fee stings a bit but I figured they might take that off the cost of the job and expected it to be maybe $300 to replace a tub waste pipe assembly.. I know plumbers are never cheap but I was shocked that is was $675 and took just over an hour, the parts are not expensive. Since I just wanted the job done and already had to pay the dispatch fee, I went ahead with it, but now I'm really annoyed with myself that I paid that. Pretty sure could have gotten a smaller company or a handyman to do it for half.

Called them in mid-October to get an appointment with an electrician. They said earliest they could do was Nov 5. Ok. Then a few days later they rescheduled to Nov 12. Ok. Now on Nov 6 they call me back and say they don't have anyone until next month.
So, now I've already waited three weeks, and I'm right back where I started. Really frustrating.

Papalia helped us rebuild a shower mixing valve. The communication from the team was excellent, work completed without any issues (we finally have hot water in the tub). The cost was average for this type of plumbing work.
Papalia Home Services is the best company in the business.
The quality of the work is superb. Thank you technicians Mark Yeaton and Jaylynn R. for your service!
I find it very strange that Papalia Plumbing has pretty good reviews on Angie's List and not so pretty ones here on Yelp.
My experience with Papalia Plumbing deserves 5 stars. I found them on Angie's List. Crystal was very friendly and professional and she made it very easy to make an appointment. She also called me 5-10 minutes before the plumbers arrived. Crystal also made sure that I understand that they charge a $79 dispatch fee.
The main reason I called a plumber was to open up one of our sinks and take out a necklace that fell in by mistake. I also wanted them to see if my bathtub drain needs to be cleaned and also to help me with an outdoor faucet.
Mike examined all three jobs he advised against cleaning the bathtub as it drained well, he told me what to buy on Amazon to fix my outdoor faucet - it's an easy fix - free of charge. He fished out the necklace from out sink and everyone was happy.
They may be on the pricier side but you get what you pay for. Everyone was friendly, knowledgeable and very professional.
Dear Papalia Plumbing & Heating,
I am a tech enthusiast with autism who is very knowledgeable and I know my stuff even though I'm not a licensed bonded and insured HVAC Technician.
I would like Papalia to stop selling York HVAC Equipment and stay from microchannel because York is owned by Johnson Controls (JCI) and York uses microchannel technology on their 13 SEER LX Straight Cool HVAC Equipment which leaks refrigerant, and holds less refrigerant and you cannot pump the refrigerant into it's king valves and the aluminum flat microchannel tubes cannot hold the refrigerant because they are very cheaply made and are made to break in less then a few years and York dose not care about their dealers, they only care about money in my own opinion. back in like the 1990s and early 2000s York used to be the best HVAC Brand up to until they were bought out by Johnson Controls from back in 2005 and they switched over to the aluminum microchannel condenser coils in like 2010? which was used in the automotive industry for car radiators that only supports up to 4 LBS of pressure. back in the day, everything was all standard copper tube aluminum coils with capillary tube evaporator coils which was proven technology that lasted for a very long time from back in the 1960s, 1970s and early 1980s.
I have used Papalia Home Services for the last three years since they installed our new heating system. I got quotes from other companies and they were the best price and service. They did an excellent job and went the extra mile to ensure my satisfaction. I have been using them ever since.

Papalia came to the rescue when my boiler went out in December. Seamus and crew were able to clear their schedule and get my boiler replaced in less than 5 days! Seamus later followed up to help balance the heat in my older home. The company has always been quick to respond to my calls and texts. Great crew, easy to work with, and I would highly recommend them for future heating and plumbing needs.
We have consistently had excellent service from Papalia Home Services. They are always punctual, professional, kind, courteous and fix whatever problems we have had called them about. We highly recommend them.
Second time using Papalia for a plumbing job. The first clearing a kitchen sink drain, and now the replacement of a 15 yr old water heater in an 100 year old house that required plumping, shutoff values, and electrical work upgrades. They scheduled us right away, came right on time, and Mike professionally and thoroughly evaluated our situation. The extra work for plumbing and electrical was thoroughly explained to us, the replacement tank came promptly from their warehouse, and Mike contacted electrician support and together the group worked seamlessly to get everything done in a few hours. The rough estimate Mike provided at the start of the job was accurate to the final cost. There was no feeling of anything less than great service, professional diagnostics, and accurate to cost repair. Mike was very personable, communicated much of the technical issues with us, and reviewed the entire job with us, including the new unit, plumbing , electrical, and needed permit inspection. Cannot compare the costs with other service/repair companies in the area, but a quick survey of water heater replacement costs with friends in nearby towns, reassured us that costs were comparable.

First, I am a landlord, and know how to fix everything in residential property.
I called Papalia for snaking a kitchen sink, as I just cannot attend to it now. This should be a REALLY simple task. They refused to give an estimate over the phone. They tried to explain to me all that could be involved, and why it is so difficult to predict. I think they wanted me to think they were like a team of skilled surgeons.
I have been under this sink. I just replaced the garbage disposal. I know exactly what is wrong with it. The office staff which is about as informed as an answering service, didn't really want to know. They also wouldn't tell me what it usually costs. They did tell me there is a fee to travel there (didn't really pay attention as soon as I heard that, but I think it was about $39).
Talking to them, I felt like I was dealing with the worst case scenario used car dealership, not a plumber. I have been involved in residential real estate long enough to know the best way to deal with them was to let my fingers do the walking.
So,... now that I have read other responses, I see it likely would have cost me 350-400. I found a drain guy for 125, and a local plumber for 135.
Papalia has been consistently responsive, and consistently does excellent work. They go the extra mile and do the small extras that make a difference.
We have been very happy with Papalia's support of the Heating and AC systems at our home and a nearby rental property for the last couple of years. The work is always well done, they are careful to leave the space as clean as they found it, and they keep us appraised of potential problems and possible solutions.
When our tenant's gas furnace recently died and needed to be entirely replaced, they worked hard to ensure the tenant's heat was restored within just a few days, despite the shortages of parts and equipment that was being experienced industry-wise at the time.
We heartily recommend Papalia.
Always pleased with service from Papalia . We have a maintenance plan with them and have always had professional, courteous and prompt service. I will say we have not needed to use them for any issues with our HVAC system so I can't speak to that but maybe that's a good thing! They aren't cheap but no one is . We see them twice a year and that's it.

I believe that Papalia is hearing their feedback and is now attempting to improve their service.
My problem was an old main drain pipe that periodically gets clogged with tree roots. So, my cellar got flooded. Papalia came on the same day & waived the emergency fee as 2 plumbers became available. Yes, I gulped at the quote but agreed because it was a Friday afternoon & I had no time to shop around.(My old plumber retired)! I did appreciate their quick response.
They camera'd & snaked the pipe. Two weeks later the pipe clogged with additional tenacious roots. Mike, the operations manager, was very concerned & kindly returned himself with a plumber to personally banish the stubborn root at no additional cost. In fact, to be fair, he returned some of my original monies. I ended up a satisfied customer & am comfortable recommending Papalia as an ethical company!
Give them a chance.

I have employed Papalia professional services for 16+ years. Papalia has worked for me on multiple areas that range from small to complex projects. Large AC, heat pumps installations down to installing a toilet. They have always completed their work to my entire satisfaction and if in any occasion I communicated a minor objection/doubt they worked relentlessly to make sure everything was perfect and I end up satisfied ! Their communications with me had always been prompt, courteous and highly professional. They have highly qualified staff always trained with the latest technologies and codes. All personnel is very accessible and you can talk from the President of the company to any one down. Regarding their cost is average, but they worth every penny !

If you want a used car salesman to come over, they're for you.
They tried to charge me thousands of dollars for something that ended up costing me $200. I could go on & on, but just because you are seeing people that are happy with their services, it doesn't mean those people were not completely ripped off by overpaying.
We have been Papalia customers for years now and always a professional and pleasant experience. Recently Nick has been helping us with a sewage issue and has been beyond helpful in putting together a game plan to prevent further issues. Always courteous and honest and thoroughly explains everything. The best!

The work they did was fine, but the price was UNREAL! $750 for 80 minutes of work and maybe $50 in materials. They installed a tub faucet, a sink faucet, and hooked up a toilet: not exactly rocket science, but I wanted to save the headache of doing it myself.
I would have used someone else after receiving the estimate, but I am selling the house and I literally did not have the time to search for another plumber. There are other options out there for plumbers: use one.

We had a simple toilet problem with the flapper not closing in a timely fashion. The plumber turned it into a major repair, stating that the toilet needed to be reseated. Once he removed the toilet oh, another problem: the flange needed to be replaced. By the time he finished finding problems I had a bill that exceeded well over $600.00. I could have bought a new high end toilet! Additionally, they charge $89.00 service charge.

Great company if you're looking to drain your retirement. The owner carries himself as if he's some lawyer charging $450 an hour when really he's just a poop slinger and that's OK.
