We had a broken pipe on the outside of our house that was causing all the sewage to back up into house. Called Boston Drain and they were quick to send someone out to clear the clog where they discovered the broken pipe amd I also had a sagging pipe under my livingroom floor.. They gave me an estimate on the spot and sent two teams out the next day to fix it. One team for the outside excavating the ground and another team to dig through my concrete floor. They were in and out in a few hours and cleaned up nicely after themselves. This is the best place to go for all of your plumbing needs. I'll never go to Roto Router again. They are extremely overpriced and try to push services on you that you don't need. Chris, Juan, Kyle and Tim thank you for all of your hard work.

I called on a Sunday and was able to have someone come hours later to fix a problem with my toilet by snaking it out. I also was happy about  how nice and friendly Mike (the guy fixing the toilet) was and how he gave me a special rate because Boston Drain does a lot of business with the building I live in! Much cheaper rate than Roto Rooter which I wrote a review on.

Amazingly quick with their fix! Tub was clogged and toilet was leaking from the base. The property management company for the apartment I'm in was here right away and called Boston Drain. The fix was all done in a matter of 20 minutes.

Thank you boston drain for being experts at what you do!

From the first phone call & up until saying goodbye upon completion of our main sewer line Chris, Tevin & crew have been a pleasure to work with.  Everyone has been knowledgeable, friendly, worked on the weekend and able to meet my needs above and beyond expectations!! If you are looking for a company that treats you as family/friend and not just another number or dollar sign!! I highly recommend Boston Drain!

Never expected the water from the 2nd floor tub to come through the basement toilet but I guess that's what can happens when your main waste line is clogged! Called Boston Drain the next morning and they came to the house that day.  They snaked the line and cleared the clog but there were rocks & dirt in the line. The next day a camera in the line revealed worst case scenario...the line was broken and would need to be replaced! Just when I thought it couldn't get any worse there was a dead RAT in the main waste line too! Boston Drain was FANTASTIC!
Not only replacing the pipe but coming up with solutions to insure the RATS would NOT have access.
So thankful to have made the call to BOston Drain!

This is a review for the Boston Drain in Dorchester.

The first time I used Boston Drain, I was really happy with them - our toilet was overflowing into our basement and the plumber who came out was extremely nice and thorough, and figured out that our neighbors were flushing baby wipes down their toilet (never flush baby wipes!!) and clogging our street's sewer line (this is after we paid our regular plumber $300+ to snake the toilet just to have it overflow again).

That was about a year and a half ago. This summer, we decided to install a sump pump in our basement because we were having issues with water in our basement after heavy rain. I called Boston Drain twice over a period of about a month and the woman I spoke to said that the plumber who installed sump pumps would give me a call to set up an appointment. Well, that never happened and we just got a ton of water in the basement. I'm disappointed because I was really happy with them when they came out before but they seem to have some customer service issues. Won't be calling them again.

Not all hero's wear capes! Mark from Boston Drain is the BEST. Just bought a new home and had a drain issue one week in causing some flooding coming form drain in shower in the basement. Boston Drain was highly recommended so we called them right away and they came out. Issue was resolved and at a great and fair price! Similar issue happened 2 weeks later and we called the on call tech who said he would be able to come out in a few hours however Mark our original guy immediately called us within minutes, he saw that we called in and said that he was on his way and that he did this job originally and he would be there to see it through. He was there in half hour and fixed the issue. We were so relieved. Mark took the time to explain everything and assured us we could call him anytime going forward. Thank you Boston Drain for providing us with someone as great as Mark! We will definitely be recommending!

So glad I called Boston Drain after Rapid Flow screwed up a job at my rental property. I was in a jam and I called the dispatch at Boston Drain. She sent the technician over within an hour. We had a clog in the sewer pipe, and Chris got to the problem within minutes. So lucky I found them!!!

If you have a serious problem, I would highly recommend to get a second opinion and a written detail quote of what need to be done. Boston Drain uses scared tactic, withholds information and inflate problem while you are already worried about your house and living situation. They forced us on a $30k+ replacement job while the second opinion from Hercules was $5k. We asked the city water and sewer inspector to clarify the problem as well. Don't trust these guys

STOP.  DO NOT USE.

We had a HORRIFIC experience.  Chris started out as a slimy salesperson and then reverted to scare tactics.  Never got a formal written quote.  But he did call each of the 3 owners in our small Boston row house and provided different and outrageous prices (around 50K!).

We had a sewer lateral pipe in need of repair.  Got his name from the contractor re-doing the building next door - why they use this company is beyond me.

We went with another repair firm (Hercules Drain). They were efficient and practical. Paid 10.5K. So saved 40K and did not need to do unnecessary work (Chris wanted to tear up the finished apartment floor on our basement level).

Do yourself a favor and avoid Boston Drain like the plague.

If there was a lower rating, I would have selected that.  I called for a quote on a broken lateral under my lawn, since they are an approved Boston Water and Sewer supplier.  Was thrilled that they said they could come that afternoon.  I waited, waited, finally called back a little after 5 and was told they tried to call me and didn't get any answer.  Wrong.  The guy told me he'd be there at 9 AM, and wanted to know why I seemed annoyed.  I told him I'd taken the afternoon off of work, didn't see how I missed a call when I was right here, would see him at 9 AM.  At 10 AM I called their office and was told I was scheduled for the following day.  I said never mind, I would find someone who could communicate more effectively.  The same guy called me back and said he had an emergency but would be there in a little while. I asked why he hadn't called me, and he said...'you know..we didn't diagnose the break, so why don't you call Roto Rooter and let them do the work.  We'll pass.'  And that's the most honest thing the company had said to me thus far.  I agree.  Pass.

I  was charged $450 for a simple drain cleaning job.  It did not take 30 minutes to set up, do the job and take my money. I have since found out that there are plenty of other drain companies that would have done the job for under $300.

Make sure you are talking to Boston Drain Company at (617) 265-8888 out of Dorchester (Mattapan).  I am in Newton and have used them for over 10 years (unfortunately I have a recurring problem with roots) and they have to come once or twice a year.  The ONLY time I've had any problem with getting a quick response was one time during a period of heavy rains in Boston, and they were giving hospitals and businesses priority service.  They were very honest and told us it would be several hours.  Usually they come in 2 hours or less.  They ended up coming to our house later that day at 10:30 pm!  Every service man has been polite and helpful.  I would not use anyone else.

Five stars isn't enough! We had a disaster New Year's Eve day and Boston Drain responded within the hour. For the next few weeks, initially replacing the water pipe trap in the basement and then excavating and replacing the broken water line, they were excellent. They did all the paperwork with the city to line up inspections and even to get our rebate. The technicians were on time, efficient, and pleasant, and Debbie, the office manager, couldn't have been more professional. I would't wish sewage in the basement on anyone, but at least this company had the experience to make fixing it easier!

Called yesterday because septic drain was clogged.  Entire encounter was more than professional in what was a frantic situation on the home front!  Assistance arrived within 2 hours of my call.  Service person was more than professional.  He offered suggestions for ongoing troubleshooting of potentially larger drain field issue AND completed task at a very affordable price.  Would highly recommend this company to anyone who needs drain help.

Rude, unprofessional and hostile! Had a sewer emergency with waste water backing up into the basement and called them out. Dumb and Dumber arrived and after crawling around in the basement for a few hours concluded that there was a blocked sewer line (duh) and said they would have to come back on another day to camera the line. When I asked why this wasn't done at their initial inspection they referred me to the 'boss' who went ballistic on me and said he didn't want to do the work at all! Wow, these guys need more competition. Not NYC material...nooo. Stay away at all costs.

I highly recommend Boston Drain. I have combination 1930's and 1960's plumbing in an old Dutch Colonial, and the guys that came out to snake the bathtub did a standup job. The snake got stuck, and what could end up being a difficult and expensive situation they came out the next day to do everything they could to finish the work. Because of their experience they got the snake out. They were courteous, cleaned up after, and charged a fair price for this can of worms.

I called after hours and they were there noon the next day to address a blocked/leaking sewer pipe outside the building. I opted for a pipe cleaning and camera so we could see what was going on and throughout the whole process the guys at Boston Drain were entirely helpful and knowledgeable. They helped teach me what was going on and what I could do for preventative  maintenance in the future and most importantly they worked very hard for the two hours they were there to clear the blockage. They then used the camera to help diagnose the issues and tell me what my options were with the Lateral pipe home assistance program through the city of Boston. They showed up the next morning for the inspection and once again were wonderful, helpful. Would absolutely recommend them and Dan is great!

We discovered a sewer back up in our basement last night. The main clean out pipe was leaking sewage back into our home and I was frantic. Having had a good experience with Boston Drain Company in a rental home years ago (our Landlord recommended them) I gave them a call. After speaking with a dispatcher I received a call from Mark, the plumber on call within five minutes. Mark explained that he was finishing a job nearby and would be at my home within an hour. He arrived as committed and got to work right away. The first thing we discovered was the old cast iron clean out pipe was cracked. Mark pointed this out and shared that whomever left it that way wasn't doing us a favor should a backup happen again. Using a power snake he pulled large clumps of roots and other unmentionables out of our sewer main. He then capped off the cracked clean out as best he could and departed. A few hours later we returned home from dinner and discovered that the backup returned with a steady drip. I contacted Mark on the cell phone number he provided and he immediately answered. And though he was in a foot of sewer water at another job he never complained and said he would come back as soon as he was done with the other job. And he did just that. He snaked the drain again and capped it off. Given the recurring issue he recommended that we get a camera in the line to figure out why the drain wasn't draining properly after having been snaked twice. He said he was putting us on the docket for first thing in the morning. This morning Chris from Boston Drain Company arrived with his See Snake camera system. As I watched the video monitor of the camera inching its way down the piper it was strangely fascinating. Chris was giving me a sewer main 101 education while commentating on what we were looking at every step of the way. We discovered root clumps, chunks of fat and well, you know, along the way. There was also a section of clay pipe that had settled and was creating a shallow pool of water. Chris explained that this creates friction for the water flow. Similar to a pool at the end of a water slide. Seeing this I was anticipating the sales pitch for their need to dig up my front yard and replace the section of pipe for thousands of dollars. After all, replacing sewer pipes is a major revenue generator for them. But nope. Chris was completely open and honest and shared that the pipes have been working for over a hundred years so a little settling isn't a major issue. But he did recommend a third party to perform a high pressure cleaning that will get rid of the roots and fat chunk blockages. A service that they stand to make no revenue from. He also arranged to have someone come over to cap off the cracked clean out pipe so it won't leak if there is a future back up. Oh, and since I paid for the initial cleaning last night there was no charge for the follow up camera visit. So while no one wants to be in a sewage back up situation feeling helpless and vulnerable to service companies. Thankfully if you are there is Boston Drain Company - professional, reasonable, informative and honest. Thank you for making a $#@%^ situation a relief.

The face of a company is that of the person representing them who appears at your door. That face, sent promptly by the dispatcher, was Gabriel G. From the outset, Gabriel was professional, clearly highly informed (he was aware of previous work we'd had done on the sewer line), and solicitous. He helped me relocate a couple of items stored by our tenants in the area of the clean-out drain, and got right to work. When the job required the water truck from another company, Gabriel called it, saw the job through with the worker from that company, and then reported to us the condition of the sewer line that had precipitated the clog. Throughout, he was extraordinarily helpful and kind. Boston Drain is well-served by such young men. If you call them, see if you can get Gabriel G.! You will not be disappointed.

I should add that BD waived their charge, so we paid only for the work of the other company.

I though Boston Drain Co. was pretty great. They came when they said they would, their prices were fair and Dan, who un-clogged the drain in my house was really nice, calm and thorough guy. The only reason I didn't give five stars is because the woman on the phone was surly.

I can't say enough about Boston Drain. I had used them in the past for small jobs and have always had a great experience. I had a sewer line back up into my basement which is obviously a horrible situation. This was on a Sunday afternoon and from the time I called Boston drain to the guy showing up at the door was about 15 minutes. I thought it would be an hour or more. He tried several different things to solve the problem and was able to clear up the pipe enough to allow us to use most of the plumbing that night. I was impressed that he didn't just give up and leave right away; he didn't rush at all. He was able to diagnose the issue and showed me on the camera what the situation was. He communicated what options I had and set up a crew to do the necessary work the next day. He did not pressure me at all. The crew that did the work the next day also communicated what they were doing and let me know what options I had. I was really impressed with the care they took to keep my basement as clean as possible. They also had to dig in my front lawn (which I had just had hydroseeded) to connect to the town sewer connection. They put down plywood and were able to salvage my lawn which I did not expect at all. The foreman handled the necessary permit, contacted dig safe, and set up the inspection with the town inspector. When the job was finished the crew cleaned up the basement and yard way beyond my expectations. I could not have been happier with the job. They took a very stressful situation and helped us deal with it quickly. I don't usually write reviews, but I feel like Boston Drain went so far above and beyond my expectations that I'd be remiss not to show my appreciation. They were professional, hard working, and courteous from the minute they walked in all the way through to the end of the job.

We had a bathroom tub and sink drain issue that home remedies could not resolve. Gabriel and Eduardo (apologize if I misspelled the names) came by today and quickly understood the problem and started to fix the issues. Both gentlemen were patient and quick to resolve the issues. They even provided me with plumbing knowledge and preventative advice. We also had a problem with our toilet, and they were able to quickly determine what the issue was and how to fix it. Both gentlemen provided a wonderful service, and we will certainly reach out to them again if we have any plumbing issues.

We had a clock in our main drain stack for a triple decker. The person Boston Drain sent over opened the drain plug and let sewage spill onto the basement floor. Then he didn't put the plug back in all the way, so when someone else turned on the water it started spewing. Will never ever call Boston Drain again.

Thought I needed a plumber, turns out I needed a drainer. My plumber, Boston Standard, came out to look at a drain that takes rain water from my backyard under my building to the street out front (I'm in the South End): water was draining too slowly. Couldn't help me but recommended Boston Drain. They were able to come later that day and my drain was fixed in less than a half hour. Price was very reasonable. My guy Kyle knew what he was doing.

The most horrible service experience ever! Mike from Boston Drain has serious problems and I would never want him in my home. Quality, Great Team, Etc. Because the Owner of this Company and his staff gets the plumbing done and the knowledge is outstanding. The work is neat. I had another company step in because I was trying the cost at the time. It was a game changing moment because I went back to the best of service with a twist. The twist is the Owner and his dedicated crew. When I say a twist is don't get it twisted when it comes to this company. Boston Drain is negotiable, professional and for years got it right. Boston Drain had the fastest response from all the other places I called at least for same day service, tech took care of my problem the first time and told me some tips for future use,  respectful and knowledgeable. I definitely recommend this company.

I had a clogged drain causing a pipe to leak in the basement, and they were able to come within an hour of my call, identified the problem, and fixed it.  They also offered recommendations on how to avoid the clog in the future, and noted that there was another plumbing issue (unrelated) in my basement that I should address asap.  (Neither of these were things they could hope to profit from, the guy was just very helpful.)

The man who did the work was very pleasant and efficient, the cost wasn't outrageous ($150), and they gave a 3 month guarantee on the work.

The woman on the phone who took my initial order was very nice, and she let me know when the truck was on its way.

I hope I don't need to use them again, since drain issues are never fun, but if I do, I will certainly call them first!

As a homeowner of a multi family you will need to hire a plumber from time to time.  My 3rd floor tenants had a clogged toilet and I contacted Boston Drain and the lovely Karen answered the phone and was able to dispatch a service man within 1/2 hour to the house.  I was amazed at how quick the service was as I had called several companies and had no response.  I was charged a reasonable fee of $125 and the service man Mark also went to the 1st floor to access the ceiling damage on his way out. Bye MARK!   Or so I thought.  10 minutes later, my 80 plus mother comes out of her bedroom and says to me. Something is wrong with my toilet too.  Huh?  The guy just left, why didn't you say something?!  I just remembered.  Now I know I am not supposed to get angry but I was steaming hot and called back to the company to request that Mark return.  Karen answered again and dispatched him to return.  Mark returned with a bewildered look and came in and discovered my mother's toilet did need a replacement after several attempts at snaking the line.  He went through the whole trouble shooting phase and her toilet would not flush on it's own.  Now by this time he has spent more time on her floor than the original service call for the 3rd floor.  I warned my mother she was going to have to pay for another service call but Mark, Karen and the Boston Drain company gave me a break.  No additional charge and I needed that as you can tell I have bigger problems I have to face.  So overall, I am happy with their customer service and Mark in particular maintained his professionalism at all times.  I will continue to call you first as needed.

It's the third time I've used Boston Drain and decided to write a review because every service call resulted in a positive outcome.

First Experience:  My plumbing company cannot respond to emergencies, so they coordinate with Boston Drain for a clogged sink/disposal issue.  Fixed within several hours of the call.  Sorry, but I cannot recall the person who came to handle the problem, but it was a good experience with Boston Drain, which brings me to the next issue:

Second Experience:  During a big rainstorm, my basement flooded because of a clogged drainage pipe that sits outside of the basement door.  Panicked, I called Boston drain, and they cleaned the drain, which was full of debris, mostly from tree leaves.  Gabe and his partner were great!  Professional and got the job done.

Third Experience:  Next call to Boston Drain was every homeowner's nightmare:

The main drain sewer was clogged and caused water (sink, shower, and toilet; gross, gross, gross) to back up into the basement utility sink, which then overflowed onto the basement floor.

Panicked, I knew who to call, Boston Drain.  In under an hour, Kyle showed up to save the day.  First, he phoned my town's DPW Department to see if the town's sewer line caused the backup.  Fortunately, the Dedham DPW was VERY responsive, and they were onsite within 30 minutes.  Kyle waited to see if the issue was town-related.  Not the case.  After ruling out the first scenario, Kyle diagnosed the cause, which was a clog in the main drain.

Here's what I most appreciated most:  I was beside myself panicked, which I guess happens when sewage is flowing into your basement.  Kyle thought to contact the town's DPW as the first step in troubleshooting the issue.  He was professional and empathetic.  He thoroughly explained the problem and implemented the fix.  He also went above and beyond to dispose of the sewage water using a special vacuum instead of having more floor leakage.

I also want to recognize Debbie and the other person (not recalling her name) who answers the phones and coordinates the appointments.    Professional, empathetic, and responsive.  Will call when the person is on the way and flexible when I had to change a follow-up appointment.  It feels like they communicate in a way where they know the customer is stressed.  It's not like someone is calling to make a dental appointment.  Any house water emergency will send most homeowners into a tail-spin!

While I'm hoping never to have to call Boston Drain again, if you do have an emergency plumbing issue, I can't say enough about the service, from start to finish.

Boston Drain nailed it. Had a tub clog Rich came by and cleared it out no problem. He knew exactly what he was doing. Complete professional got the job done and the price was absolutley reasonable. I am Boston Drain for life.

The folks at Boston Drain were excellent. They were the third set of plumbers / drain specialists ( first two were unsuccessful)  I had over to get a kitchen drain un-clogged.  They found the clog 70' feet down. I live in an old brownstone and they had ample brownstone / back bay experience. They were friendly, funny, optimistic and well, solved the problem in an hour...after others had tried for days. I highly recommend them.
