We had a leak (in the basement but leaking from the kitchen) during the week we were preparing for our son''s wedding. They returned our initial call in about 5 minutes, showed up the next day (exactly on time), diagnosed the problem and provided us with the right solution as well as evidence for our insurance company (in case our home owners insurance covered the problem. Second time we used them, and based on both experiences would highly recommend

The NELSON PLUMBING came at the appointed time to fix the drain at the entrance of our basement. The asking price to do the job was $250.00 but provided a senior citizen's discount. Net Charge: $200.00
He sent a young man to do the job but experienced a problem and was
unable to complete the job. I told Mr. Nelson on the phone that years ago someone snaked the drain and broke something. With that statement, Mr. Nelson told me that they have to break the concrete around the drain and it will cost me $4,500.00. I told him I did not have that money and could he give a lower assessment and he offered $4,000.00. I then asked if he could provide a payment plan. He said he could not as he needs the money. He then told me to pay $150.00 for the undone work of his staff. I was a bit bothered but paid anyways.
I decided to call LYN SCHILLING, owner of UNEEDA PLUMBING who have done fantastic work for us in the past. I have no idea why I called the NELSON PLUMBING instead of UNEEDA. It was a big mistake not to call UNEEDA. I told LYN SCHILLING about the case or broken snake years ago. Guess what? he did not encounter the problem the Nelson's worker had. Our drain was fixed without a snag and it is in perfect shape now. LYNN did not tell me or suggest to tear down the concrete
steps and then hit me with $4,500.00 charge and redo it for what?Several thousands more? These scenario for someone unable to do the job and then offered $4,500 to tear the concrete steps smells dishonesty. This is why people feels being taken advantage of by plumbers, electricians, handyman, etc. specially if the person seeking assistance is a woman and elderly. I have enough experience with workers who have NO qualms of taking advantage of their unsuspecting and trusting clients. Best to get recommendations from your friends and neighbors...not on line recommendation. This particular case is so bothersome because NELSON PLUMBING is highly recommended by ANGIE'S LIST where I got its name.
UNEEDA PLUMBING'S CHARGE FOR A PERFECT JOB WAS $200.00
and LYN SCHILLING, UNEEDA's OWNER WHO ALSO SUPERVISED HIS WORKER, RECOMMENDED TO MAKE SURE LEAVES AND DEBRIS ARE REMOVED SO IT DOES NOT GET INTO THE DRAIN THAT CAUSE
CLOGGING PROBLEMS.
I feel that the worker of Mr. Nelson may not have the expertise of the UNEEDA PLUMBING....and he should not be charging his unfinished
work at $150.00. The most they could charge is $50.00 for travel fee.
I give the NELSON PLUMBING ONE STAR or even ZERO AND WILL NOT RECOMMEND NELSON PLUMBING TO ANYONE. SORRY THAT ANGIE'S LIST GAVE THIS COMPANY A PERFECT SCORE!

Absolutely amazing! I needed my house cleaned that evening before guests arrived. I messaged a few places on Yelp and LikeCleanUP replied within in minutes and was able to clean THE SAME DAY! Not to mention offering the best price. I was not disappointed when Roman arrived. He had a giant rolling tool kit of cleaning supplies, mop set and an industrial vacuum. No corners were cut, my house was deep cleaned and looked amazing so my family does not have to know what a heathen I am. I will be using them again in the near future.

Last week I received a phone call from Precision Home Services regarding an up coming multi home cleaning service. This was set up by one of my neighbors (Mrs. Hawk) for better rate than by doing on your own.
A lady named Missy, had a pleasant voice and a professional attitude. She called to confirm contract work to be done for power washing our home. She informed me that once the work was completed, she would get back intouch with me.
One Friday a guy came to the house to power wash the grim off the walls, decks and steps. Apparently, my house was the last in line to get washed. Due to the sunlight going down, he was forced to stop the last part of the power washing.
On Saturday I met the guy (We will call Manny) who was working on one of my neighbor's house. Manny told me he would be finishing off my house on Sunday. I got a look at some of the work that was done on my neighbor's house. I liked what I saw. This got me thinking about some things done to our house.
Upon looking up Precision Home Services, I saw they do a lot more things than just power washing. There are several things I would like done with our house and I am planning on using this company to get it done.
The power washing came out nicely, but there are some spots on the metal plating we don't like. This has nothing to do with the power washing itself. Still, after doing some painting on my home, I got to thinking Precision Home Services specializes in painting too. I will be sure to get an estimate on Painting, Window Paneling and Fencing to name a few.
I think this will be a very good company to get our home remodel with and I will be seeing them next Monday. In the words of Adonis Donnie Johnson Creed, Let's Get It.

It was pouring rain outside and even so Tom was deep in the mud fixing a broken well line for me. His rates are absolutely fair (one guy I called wanted $800. Tom charged $200 for the same thing - and he said I don't know how those $800 guys sleep at night) For great service, great work, at a great price absolutely recommend Tom Murphy.

When I called, I was happy to talk to a live human, Mike. They were able to have somebody out here quickly on a weekend. Dr. Charlie called ahead to let us know he was in his way. He was prompt, polite, and professional. Dr. Charlie fixed the issue with the line of our hot water heater and got us up and running again. Yay!

Our hot water started running very slow and based on all the good Yelp reviews, we called Hollin Hall Plumbing to get a 2nd estimate after Michael and Son told us our hot water heater/system needed new mixing and ball valves (for over $650), or new hot water heater (over $2,000). There was also a nice tankless heater they wanted to sell us for over $4,000.
Anyway, the plumber from Hollin Hall came out and fixed our problem for $148. We got our problem fixed for less than the cost of the service call for Michael and Son and he was finished in no time. I am so thankful to have an HONEST company to call. Save yourself time and money and just call them first - I certainly will from now on.

J Hood is absolute fantastic. They were recommended by my condo HOA to replace my tanked water heater to a tankless unit. Below is a commendation letter that I personally wrote and sent to Mr. Hood. I'm having them come out to replace my AC Air Handler next week to remedy a horrible job ARS did 4 years ago.
Mr. Jeff Hood:
I'd like to take a moment of your busy day to inform you of the exceptional service I received by Dave and Drew who recently came to my Alexandria residence to replace an old Bradford-White 75 gal. water heater with a tankless Navien system on Oct. 11, 2022.
In the span of the past few years, I consulted with several companies on my options and cost estimates. I inquired with our residence property manager if there was anyone they recommended and they offered J Hood. I promptly called and spoke to a very cordial gentleman named Cody who promptly and professionally scheduled my estimate. From the first moment I met and interacted with Dave to provide the estimate I knew I had made the right choice to not only pursue a tankless system, but to also do so with J Hood.
Upon their timely arrival, the team prepped the area and consistently monitored their activities to not cause any collateral damage while removing and installing the old and new systems. Having worked many years in the home improvement industry, it rapidly became apparent that the quality of the materials exceeded my already high expectations. The quality and care of the work being performed represented not only Doug's exceptional knowledge and experience, but also the insight and wisdom of J Hood to hire such a top-quality team in the first place. Moreover, what can't be learned out of technical books is the high level of integrity and ethics the team brought, which to me is what's most priceless.
In summary, I'm likely not informing you of anything you don't already know but thought in these difficult social and economic times I wanted to make a point to not only thank Dave and Drew for their exceptional effort, but to also thank you, Mr. Hood. My father has always told me that exceptional performance is always a representation of exceptional leadership.
With extreme gratitude,

Superb customer service and excellent plumbers! After calling a couple other plumbing companies in the area and being displeased with the customer service, I called Master Plumbing on a Friday afternoon for a water problem I was having in my basement. Joe was extremely pleasant and helpful and sent a plumber to my house within an hour. The plumber that he sent carefully assessed the problem, showed and provided me with the details on the issue in layman's terms, and fixed it. Thank you and we are happy to have found Master Plumbing!!

When it comes to tankless water heaters, C.L. Hibbard and Chris in particular know what they are doing. When I started getting code 12 on my Takagi tankless water heater and the water was cold I called Charlie Hibbard. He sent his grandson Chris to my house to check out the problem. It turned out that the water heater needed to be flushed and have a new igniter installed. Further, the professionals who installed my tankless water heater did it incorrectly by not providing the valves to allow the unit to be flushed. Chris was truly professional and corrected it all.
If you want it done right call C.L. Hibbard. If you do not you will be sorry.

I found Tuckers on Yelp and after reading the reviews, decided to give them a try. I had a heating issue on a rental I own and am always skeptical about company's sending techs who want to write up estimates that include a lot more work than is really required. I had called the dispatcher and had discussed ahead of time that if the repairs were less than a certain amount, they should go ahead and do it and not call me for an approval. I then waited...to get a call...that my repairs would be a lot of $$$s and more than expected. I was pleasantly surprised when I didn't get a call other than a confirmation from my tenant that the heat was back on and the tech performed the service. Got a bill in the mail a few days later identifying the fix, the cost of the repair and the diagnostic charge. Simple, efficient, hassle free. I will definitely use them again, they have earned my trust.

Twas the week before Christmas and all through the basement
water was trickling along the floor of cement.
At first sight, I did not know what could be the matter,
but at second look, I noticed the water heater did splatter.
I was to leave my home for Christmas in a few days time.
What was I to do to fend off the encroaching grime?
Needless to say that I called Jimmy Gusky, as well as some other plumbers and after a cavalcade of returned calls, price negotiations, and web searches, Jimmy Gusky was the only one who was able to accommodate my time constraints without price gouging me into oblivion.
Now I won't say that my experience was exemplary, but for every situation that arose during the process of getting my water heater replaced and up to code was meet with a quick remedy. For example, I noticed that my basement sink was leaking just a few minutes after the crew left for the day. I tried to stop the leaking faucet myself but to no avail. I quickly called Jimmy Gusky and he had his guys return to address the situation. It turns out that the old faucet was beyond repair. While the guys were out at the store looking for parts, they got a call from their boss to replace the entire faucet. This was done at no charge to me.
Life was settling back into normalcy.
Until the next day when there was no more hot water. I went to check on the hot water heater and noticed that the pilot light was out. I fiddled around with the ignition settings and could not get anything to click or work. I made a call to Jimmy Gusky that Saturday evening and he personally came out to my house at 9am on a Sunday morning. He poked around and hit the right buttons and the pilot light came on. Hot water was restored and there was no charge for coming out on a Sunday morning to address the problem.
Even though the process had some ups and downs, the customer service completely warrants a five star experience.

I called on Tuesday and couldn't get an appointment until Friday. I'd called another plumber out but kept this appointment anyway given the price the other guys were quoting us. Our appointment was set for a window between 1 and 4 pm. It is now 9:30. I assume they are not showing up but they did not do us the courtesy of calling to let us know. This was not a scheduling mistake--they called once today to let us know when they would show up. A couple hours after that time frame had passed, they called again because they were lost. My husband gave them directions. Never heard from them again, which is unforgivably bad customer service. Only reason I gave them 2 stars is I've used them before and they've been fine, but today's experience was very disappointing.

Very poor service. Was told plumber would arrive in the morning between 8-12 noon. We waited the entire day and did not receive a call from Spartan. When I called regarding the delay, they said they were short on staff. I rescheduled the appointment for the next day and was told that that we would be the first job at 8:00 am. We waited until noon and then decided to cancel. It would have been helpful if Spartan had called to let us know of the delay; poor communication. If you want professional and reliable service, I would avoid using Spartan.
