I've continued to use Jimmy Gusky for all my HVAC needs at 6 rental homes. They have been very responsive to my needs...usually able to schedule a visit the next business day. They can always diagnose and resolve the problems that they encounter and I feel like they have well trained technicians. HVAC techs are in high demand in our area, so its probably not too easy to have techs that are qualified and good with customer service. Sometimes I feel like the communication could be better...like call and tell me what you did and that its finished (I never meet them at the rentals...they interface with the tenants). But I'll take getting the job done right at a reasonable price over communicating better any day.

I used this company via a Home Warranty Service that I have.  My HVAC went out on June 2.  It is still not fixed.  I was informed that the repair that  my system needed would take too long and they didn't have the time.  They came out to my property 4 times.  Each time they said it would be fixed.  My problem still isn't fixed.  I have requested for them to never return to my property again.  They are not responsive at all.  It seems like they send technicians that have just graduated from some kind of tech school and don't know what they are doing but know how to highjack the system.  The technicians say it is going to work and then when they return they change their story.   If I could not give  them a star I wouldn't.

Had a very satisfying experience with Jimmy Gusky HVAC. My heat went out over the holidays and Jimmy's team was able to come out quickly. I opted for replacement of both my furnace and AC as they were both over 20 years old. The team replaced both in one day and came back the next to finish smaller jobs. They had a large team to handle the jobs, and they seemed very knowledgeable and experienced. I will definitely  use them again.

We discovered early this morning that our boiler was not operational. The inside temperature had dropped to 58 degrees. I made numerous phone calls to several boiler repair plumbing companies and the first that I was successfully able to connect with and to get a commitment from was Jimmy Gusky. His technician Mike, called me an hour later and said he'd be here between 2 and 3 p.m. Mike showed up at 2:15pm and quickly and expertly diagnosed and fixed what turned out to be a rather simple problem. He was done in less than 30 minutes and charged a very reasonable price considering it was same day service, on a Sunday, and on the cusp of the coldest day of the season. I highly recommend this company based on my first experience.

I've used Jimmy Gusky and his team, on several occasions and have always received quick and friendly service. You actually get a person to answer your phone call rather than a recording and they are flexible with timing, able to react to immediate needs. I would definitely recommend them!  Ann

Not sure what happened but this company stinks now. A) their work is now hit or miss (recent install of a HWH pump was improper, overloading an outlet nearly causing a fire) B) when I called to inquire what they did to repair it was told they'd call me right back (3 weeks later and I'm still waiting for that call and C) I received a $25 coupon to my email and i scheduled routine service for two heat pumps. Was advised someone would be reaching out... a month later and I'm still waiting. There are a few other things that I could report but you get the picture. With so many plumbers in the DMV, don't take a chance with this guys company. You can do much better.

This guy is solid!  My furnace went out, it was freezing cold on a saturday. I called several furnace guys because I needed my heat back on ASAP.  Jimmy came out, diagnosed the problem and fixed it before I even got a call back from the other guys.  I hope I don't ever have another furnace problem, but if I do, I'm calling these guys first!

I don't typically take the time to write a review, but because of the amazing customer service I received from Jimmy Gusky and his employees, I felt that I had to give them a proper thank you.  My wall A/C unit/ptak gave out last week.  Considering the temps have been in the high 90's, not having a working air condition was torture.  Despite how busy they were with air condition repairs during the hottest time of the year, Jimmy knew I was desperate, and was nice enough to squeeze me in the next day.  His employees were professional, knowledgeable, and punctual.  It turned out that my air conditioning unit was defective, but was still under warranty.  Even though he did not have to, Jimmy made the phone calls himself to the manufacturer to ensure that my parts were still covered.  He personally went above and beyond, helping me not just getting my a/c fixed, but making sure that I didn't have to pay as much out of pocket.  Jimmy and his team are a top-notch team that know their stuff and are reliable and trustworthy.  I will most definitely be using them again.

Great service and company!

I had central air installed last month and working with Jimmy Gusky made this a lot less stressful than I thought it would be.  I have an older home in DC and was under the impression that doing a flexible tubing high velocity system would be the best option for my home.  As it costs more than conventional the first couple of companies I brought in for estimates always shot down conventional in favor of high velocity.  Tom, with Jimmy Gusky, came and told me about both and actually encouraged me to consider a conventional system as it is more efficient.  I was on the fence about it, though; so Tom actually worked with a current customer of theirs in my neighborhood to allow for me to visit their home and see their work in person and how a conventional system would look in my house.  Needless to say I was sold.  

When it came time for the actual installation I was paranoid it was going to be a dusty dirty affair.  Not only was it fairly dust-free Mike and Mike, the two people that installed the system, were incredibly friendly, very professional, and fast!  The process took under a week and they cleaned up behind themselves every day.

Overall I would highly recommend Jimmy Gusky...I've already given their business card to a neighbor of mine!

This is one of the most professional, customer service businesses that I know.  Had a problem with with AC going out and I called the next morning.  I had a very competent technician, who knew all about my complicated Carrier furnace ( some repair person will not even work on ) and solved the problem quickly.  He also checked my system to make sure there were not other impending problems.  The price was reasonable and service outstanding.  If there's a next time, I know who I'm going call.

I had a rooftop HVAC installed recently by Jimmy Gusky.  Despite a couple of hiccups, the people in this company came across as experienced and honest professionals who will take care of your HVAC needs.  They provided a quote that beat competitions by a mile.  They were quick to address mistakes and were highly responsive to my concerns.  Their experience showed by making the rooftop installation seem easy.  I highly recommend them.

Terrible. Do not believe any of the good reviews on this page, they are most likely paid comments. The phone was answered with a brusk hello and I had to ask if I was calling the right number. He proceeded to answer my questions with extreme rudeness but said he could come out to see the problem in 2 hours, and he would be there between 11 and noon. 12pm came and went, I called twice more and left a message and still heard nothing from him. This type of unprofessional behavior makes me wonder how he runs a business let alone his ability to fix anything. Save your time and money and call someone else.

I have used Jimmy several times now, for emergencies and semi-emergencies, and have been pleased with the results. Jimmy is quite responsive, communicates by text which is helpful, and does the work when he says he will. Pricing is fair. I would use again.

Before using this so called company think twice.
The perfect reviews must have been put there by employees or family members smdh.
One of the worst companies I've ever dealt with in ANY situation.
Customer service must be a family member because she was rude and unprofessional. She lied to us on numerous occasions about when a contractor was coming out and didn't even know our problem even though we used this same company last year in mid December. Then we had set a window for a tech to come out between 2 and 4 and the first tech didn't even show so they send out someone else a half an hour PAST the time frame and he didn't even have the right equipment to perform the work !! Lwth??
So instead of looking at the work on record from last year these guys couldn't figure out what the problem was from LAST YEAR so one tech is saying oh it's the coil and the other is saying oh it's the tube and blah blah blah. We had to deal with this company for FIVE DAYS and nothing was fixed even though they had us on file from last year. So I called a company GW AIR SERVICE and they fixed our issue in less than THREE HOURS and we didn't need a part. This company dropped the ball THROUGH THE FLOOR. You should know better. Embarrassing!!
When we used this company last year the tech who was very professional and he fixed our issue temporarily but that was the best thing this company did other than that DONT TAKE THE CHANCE

Great service!   I called on a Saturday morning about a backed-up drain and  Gusky's guys were here in a matter of hours!   In fact, they had estimated that they would get here between 2 and 5 and they got here almost an hour early.  They fixed the drain quickly and for a more than $100 less than the other companies I called.  Plus I used the Yelp deal and got an extra $30 off.  I will  definitely use them in the future.

We paid $170 for replacement of 2 filters + installment of 1 grid. The technician ordered the filters. Later on he realized that one of the filters is re-usable and that the filters he had gotten were too large, so in the end they were not installed. Instead of refunding us for the unnecessary/useless filters, that he kept, and for not doing that part of the work, he refused to do so. Sloppy, unprofessional, unreliable and dishonest. Please do not waste your time and money.

Our A/C went out over Memorial Day weekend. We had a disappointing experience with the company that installed the system, so we were looking for another company to service it. I sorted through options on Yelp and chose Jimmy Gusky on the basis of positive reviews and proximity to our home. Unfortunately, their first available appointment was four days later, on a Friday afternoon. I agreed to wait until then. The next day-Wednesday-they called and were able to fit us in at noon, which was a big relief.

The repair technician was courteous and friendly. He inspected everything, inside and out, including crawling hands and knees through our hot attic. No, it wasn't the coolant, we didn't have a leak, and we didn't need a new compressor. It was only a loose connection that he was able to identify and fix. He charged a reasonable amount for a service call. I offered to tip him cash for the extra effort of crawling through the attic, but he refused. We have a cool house again, two days earlier than expected. Very happy.

We have become strong customers of Jimmy for quick response and quality work. First time was 5 years ago
on a July 4 weekend when AC went down in 100 degrees. Jimmy came at the end of a long day and fixed it; also gave us advice that saved money from needless purchases.
This summer he replaced the 20 year old AC unit. The two technicians were professional, quick, masked, and competent. We had to call yesterday for emergency furnace outage; immediate response and fair price. I have always been impressed at the company's response on weekends and peak periods. They also explain what they will do and the cost. I strongly recommend Jimmy Gusky and his company.

Didn't get to see their work as they were rude and dismissive on the phone.  Based on the disrespectful tone when we called for service, we would never try to work with this company. There are plenty of other options available that will treat you with respect and do a good job.

Read the reviews and seemed very promising so I called and was able to get a technician to come out about two days after I first called for an AC issue. I had to follow up a couple of times to get a response which was a bit of a red flag in hindsight. The technician came out and was great, diagnosed the problems and got on the phone with his supervisor when I was with him to get a quote. I got a verbal one over the phone and was told I would get a call with the full details the next day... but...nothing. Tried following up on phone, text, and email twice and never heard back. Atfter about three days of trying to get in touch and radio silence I ended up going with another contractor who was responsive. Honestly no idea why I never got a full quote after it being diagnosed, and I should note it would have been a pricey job that I would think this company would want. Just a sorry we don't have time now would have been nicer than being straight up ghosted.

Our AC was struggling to bring the temperature in our house down on a hot summer Saturday. We were hosting a party the next day but had little hope of getting the problem solved by then at a reasonable cost. Called Jimmy Gusky based on the Yelp reviews and were not disappointed. A tech was over at our house (in Shaw) in 20 minutes and had the problem solved in less than an hour, at a lower all-in cost (including a part replacement) than another company had quoted just to come out.

So I've dealt with several HVAC companies since I moved to DC 14 years ago.Its been a nightmare till I met these guys!
I met Jimmy Gusky`s A team of installers.Ken(30 years of experience )and John(20 to 25 years).These are the first guys I've met that give me confidence in The HVAC industry.These are the only guys I will deal with in the industry in the future.They have the answers (that actually make sense) to all of your questions.Had them just install a new Trane Heat pump and air handler here in DuPont Circle.Couldnt be happier.....Also met Jimmy, yes he takes an interest giving an excellent product, with great people working for him.Came out to my place too solve a difficult delivery situation in the city.DC needs these guys.Ask for Ken and John to do the install.You won't be sorry

Best service ever! Had tried other companies and Jimmy Gusky found the problem with my ac system when other companies told me I needed a whole new system. I felt the repairman sent to my house was more professional and had more knowledge than the other companies I had paid for service call.

Called a few heating and air company's and got the run around. Read some positive reviews for Gusky Heating and Air and wow, these guys were awesome! Knowledgeable, timely and genuine. Gave sound advice without the usual up sale pitch. Quality equipment and completed the work on schedule.

I'm uncertain about this contractor.  They performed an A/C repair at one of my 4-unit buildings.  It took them a month to come out and do the repair.  To make matters worst, the repairman doing the job inadvertently cut a water line in the unit.  The water has now affected all 4 units.  I'm optimistic that the company will do what's required to correct this issue...but right now, I'm in a wait and see mode.  I'll keep you all posted.

We had a leaky garden hose value and was expecting to have to replace the valve, pipe and packing through the brick wall.  Jimmy's team arrived on time, inspected the issue and fixed it in 20 minutes.  Rather than replacing everything which I was expecting, they only replaced the valve stem saving a lot of money.  Over the last few years we have used them 5 or 6 times.  All I can say is that Jimmy Gusky is honest, reliable and a five star contractor.  Make Jimmy your first call!

I cannot stress how terrible this company is.  During this brutal heat wave, our AC system went down and we couldn't figure out why.  We called, made an appointment, they gave us a 4 hour window in the afternoon, I took off work to meet them.  They never showed up.  Never called to let us know why.

So we called again, they apologized because no one put it in the schedule and they gave us another 4 hour window.  I left work early to try to meet them.  The guy arrives, at the very back end of it, suggests we pour bleach in our AC unit, charges us, and leaves.  

The next day the AC breaks again, the problem unresolved.  We call them, set up another 4 hour window, and we rearrange schedules to be here for them.  Once again, no one showed up, no one called us to cancel, and no one in the office seems to know whats going on, who works for them, or who has used their services before.  All the while, we are stuck in a hot, humid house with no alternative but to spring for a hotel.  And three days of work lost to accommodate their incompetence.

Don't let these people waste your time and take your money.

Two months ago, winter transitioned almost overnight into summer. Murphy's law being what it is, the condenser that runs the AC unit on the 3rd floor of my house decided to die with 90 degree temperatures forecasted for the next several days. I checked Yelp and found Jimmy Gusky Heating & Air and I'm so glad I did. I called late on a Friday afternoon and was initially told no one would be able to come out until the next day. Not unexpected. Less than an hour later, Tom Kelly shows up on his way home from what was probably a long work day and sets me up for a repair/replacement on Monday. The crew showed up on time, worked efficiently, and even took care of things like installing a new thermostat, reinforcing the duct tape, and making sure all loose wiring was secured. On top of that, pricing was reasonable and financing was available. I will definitely be calling on JGH&A in the future.

I called Jimmy Gusky after having searched through Yelp reviews.  My AC unit was not cooling the upstairs apartment of the house I rent.  I called at about 9am and requested service by noon.  After a few standard questions i was told a technician could be out.  At about 11 the technician called and informed me he would not be able to service until about 1:30 which I thought was still reasonable based off my initial call time and based off the fact he did give notice.  I was explained again there'd be an $89  fee which would be applied to the cost of service.  I did not anticipate getting the work completed same day but my roommate contacted me (I was not able to stay for the service) and informed me that everything went well and the unit was fixed.  She told me the technician, Tom Kelly was very pleasant and friendly.   I appreciate Jimmy Gusky for their fast and pleasant service and will contact them if ever I have any issues in the future.

They saved the day!  Called with an AC issue in the Aug. heat and Jimmy was able to send a repairman to my home the same day.  Repairs were done pretty quickly as well and at fair price.  Thanks for all the hard work!

Wake up Sunday morning to have no hot water in the house!  I have an electric water heater and I checked the fuse on the main circuit breaker which was fine.  Why do these things have to always happen on a weekend?  Started calling and reaching out to a few plumbing and heating services, but no luck.  Finally called Jimmy Gusky and lo and behold someone actually picked up the phone that wasn't an answering service!  I explained my situation and they walked through how to reset the electric heater, which panel to unscrew and what button to push.  He explained that 99% that should resolve the issue and if it didn't to call him back and he'd send someone out.  I did as told, and sure enough we had hot water again!  The reason for the 5 stars is not because they came out and did a good job, but because they are honest enough not to!  Could've easily charged me for a service call.

I put a $3K deposit down in September of 2022 on a new AC unit for a condo I was selling.  I have inquired several times about the status and received ZERO reply.  I have sold the unit but I am out $3K for service that was never provided and the buyer was notified that the unit was going to be replaced as part of the sales contract.  I am on the hook to get that replaced so I will have to seek service from someowne else and put more money down.  I see all these good reviews but this is not what I have experienced.  I would not recommend this company.

UNRELIABLE. FORGETFUL. I called Jimmy for an issue with my furnace. He told me he would come between 1 and 3 PM. I took off time from work to meet him. When he did not show or call by 3 PM, I called him and asked him if he was still coming. He seemed confused. He asked me if I was at an address--which was in a totally different area. I realized, he had no idea who I was and he clearly had forgotten all about my appointment. He did not apologize. He then said he would be at my house at 4 PM. He said, You need me to fix your furnace.  I found this to be a half truth as it is 68 degrees in my house and I have space heaters so No, Jimmy actually, I don't really need you to fix my furnace, I really need someone who is A) going to remember me 2) be accountable with their mistakes, and C) respect my time. I found his tone entitled. But I waited another hour because I had already waited since 1 PM. So 4 PM came and went and no Jimmy. When I called him, he did not apologize and said he would try and be there by 430 PM which I found to be really disrespectful. So I told him not to come. Look, I understand that people are busy but if you are forgetting appointments, not apologizing for mistakes and acting like I need you after you waste my time--you are not the person to be trusted with expensive appliances. I need to trust a repairman and feel that a repairman respects me (or I will get taken advantage by repair people, it has happened before). Jimmy unfortunately is not that person I feel I can trust or is respected by.

Had a good experience with this company... I will admit I was scared after reading some of the recent reviews... There's a good rating but the details scared me..... I'm mad that I didn't take advantage of the deal from yelp.... I called and made an appointment at 8:45 am... The technician was at my place by 1 pm and the issue was fixed in 20 minutes... He made over $300 in that amount of time... Obviously I'm in the wrong profession.... All I truly needed was freon....everything is working properly now. He was professional.... Took the time to address my zillion questions....and was in and out!

I needed a new gas tankless water heater for my house in Dupont Circle.  Jimmy personally visited my house the day after I called and gave me an estimate on the spot. He patiently answered my questions and described my options in understandable terms.  His estimate was much better than others I had received.  His technician did very good, professional work completing the job, which involved a number of complications due to the age of my house and the heater being replaced.  I would definitely recommend JG H&A to others.

Returned my phone call promptly and fixed our heat pump the next day during the scheduled window. The repairmen were masked, no-nonsense and clearly explained the problem and the repair. They also waive the service fee if they have to return within a month. Can't ask for more than that!

Oh how happy I am to have discovered this company. On one particularly cold and dreary day in December (we had a major ice storm so I was off work) my heat decided to stop working. Cold air started blowing instead and as I eyed my thermostat rapidly dropping into the 60s, I knew I needed someone to come take a look, STAT! So I started calling around and talked to numerous companies that couldn't help me the same day without charging overtime or during after-work hours. Jimmy Gusky was super helpful and accommodating, however, and sent a contractor out within a few hours who solved my problem very quickly and waited until my thermostat started warming back up before he left. I would definitely recommend this company.

What a wonderful company! We had a problem with our sink and they come out an fixed it with in a few hours even though they where probably busy with it be the day after Christmas. I'd give a 6th star if I could.  My AC unit blew out overnight on the 4th of July and I expected to be sweltering through the holiday weekend, but I had a brand new AC cranking out cold air on the afternoon of July 5th thanks to Jimmy.  Terrific service, fair price.  Don't bother with anyone else.

I had a great experience with Jimmy Gusky. I found the company on Yelp and checked with the DCSEU that they were one of their approved contractors.
Tom came out to provide an estimate for replacing the gas boiler in our 100 year old home. We didn't immediately move forward because we were gathering other estimates and having the chimney checked out to make sure the problem wasn't there.
After firing up the old boiler, crossing our fingers and hoping for the best, it went kaput within hours. I called Tom back and asked if the estimate was still good. He gave me an even better price -- the lowest of the three estimates we got for the highest efficiency boiler we could get at that price. They moved quickly and we had our new boiler installed within hours, just days after I asked them to proceed with the work. They cleaned up and left no trace except for a nice new boiler and a toasty house. I hope I never need these guys again, but if I need any HVAC work done, Jimmy Gusky is the first call I'll make.

Jimmy and his team are great to work with - very knowledgeable and responsive. I work in an older building in the city and so from time to time we have issues with various things - plumbing, AC, etc.  He's always there within 24 hours and his team is quick to diagnose and fix the problem.  They are also highly professional and nice to converse with.

I just called to get service but the person with the accent was very rude. I had some questions regarding the appointment and the service I'm getting. I gave her all my information and made the appointment but she kept trying to rush me off. Why??? I think I have a right to ask questions if I'm going to have you come out to do the work in my house. Well, I had to cancel my appointment because of the customer service I got. So I will not give them a chance. Disappointed... I guess one star for answering the phone.

I recently moved into a new place and had issues with a shower drain and toilet. They responded to my request quickly and sent someone out the next day. He arrived on time, was communicative, and fixed the problem within 30 minutes. He also charged a very fair price. I was quite satisfied with the ease and quality of service - definitely recommend!

Very dissappointed with their service. They installed new water heater which was good experience as he did on weekend but when it broke in 3 months on Friday, he assured to send someone on friday who never showed up than sends some handyman on Saturday who does not know anything and can be seen on camera doing nothing but reporting he was there for 2hours and than sends again handyman on Sunday who does not know anything. He pulls up video on youtube to see whats the problem and how to fix it. Spoiled our weekend, Mothers day lunch program and does not care to respond back our call either. So looks like when he was getting big money for installation he did immediately but when it was repair under warranty they did not care about.

Finally they sent out qualified technician and he was able to resolve the issue. Owner was upset about the review I posted but I was helpless and had to take support from social media, online and BBB. He could have got 5* instead if he would have send knowledgeable technician from beginning and our holiday weekend would have gone better too.

I used Jimmy Gusky HVAC to replace the old AC unit with a new one in my rental apartment in Sept 2021 and the service was PHENOMENAL. I've read some of the negative reviews below and had a completely opposite experience ... but perhaps that's because of the person assigned to my business - which was Tom. Tom was super communicative, responded quickly via phone and text, and gave me an update on the progress he and his team made each day since we were working against a major time crunch. I committed to Jimmy Gusky on Friday 9/3 (the Friday before Labor Day Weekend) knowing that tenants were moving in Thurs 9/9 ... and they completed the job by Wed 9/8. I'm truly shocked and amazed at how quickly they did the job - AND how communicative Tom was throughout the process.  I randomly found Jimmy Gusky through Yelp - had no prior association - and am so glad I did! I would highly recommend this company, and specifically Tom.

I am a landlord in DC. I been working with many companies for heating and cooling over the years. But when it comes to fallow up no one is better this Jimmy Gusky. I have been using this company for past two years . one the best things for this company is that when i call in to get the estimate time of arrival they are always on time Plus if the same problem occur again they come back rite-away. I worked with first american home buyer insurance and they deal with  different contractor for heading and cooling but Jimmy Gusky is one of the best i came across.

After considering using home warranty services, I decided instead to use Jimmy Gusky. James Drain Fighter came on time and did exceptional work on our kitchen sink and bathtub drain. The work was quick and precise and they cleaned up afterwards. I would highly recommend these guys.

We bought a flipped house where the seller installed a tankless water heater incorrectly in almost every way possible (and certainly not up to code), leading to performance and possible safety issues. After calling Jimmy Gusky, he and his team came out promptly, assessed the issue, provided a recommendation, and properly installed a new tankless, gas water heater all within two days. What was most impressive was that he was able to find a system that worked for our very challenging setup--a DC row house. His team went above and beyond, finding the exact unit we needed, installed it quickly and correctly, and answered my dozens of questions. I cannot recommend Jimmy's company enough.

After reaching Jimmy on the phone, we set a 10-11am appointment window.  At 11am, Jimmy's Buddy Johnny texted that he's on his way for our appointment.  Great.  20 minutes later, I text Johnny to ask where he is - coming from Maryland, 30 minutes. I live in DC. 30 minutes go by, I text to ask if he's close, yes, 12 minutes.  Sorry, but I have to leave in 15 minutes. Why didn't you tell me that you were going to be nearly an hour late for the window.  This is a competitive business. Just be a straight shooter. Don't reward game playing.  I believe Jimmy is probably a good guy, but the business model is awful.

At the end of summer, my AC broke.  I would have thought that most of the emergencies would have already happened, but called three other places before calling Jimmy Gusky LLC.   They answered the phone promptly and courteously (other places didn't answer, didn't call back, or were surly), and could get a technician on-site this morning.   Less than 2 1/2 hours after the first call the AC was fixed and didn't cost too much.

This is the 3rd time I have called Jimmy Gusky....and I always get an immediate answer.  I wish all businesses were this way.  Best customer service.  I literally called about plumbing 2 months ago and got same day service....I just called an hour ago about an A/C issued and immediately got call that serviceman is on his way.  Heck...for the response alone they get 5 stars from me!

This is the second time I've used this company, and they have never let me down.  The first time was for a plumbing issue and they were able to come the same day.  Second time was when my a/c unit went out on one of the hottest days of the year.  Again, they were able to come out the same day (a bit later than expected, but at least they showed up).  The tech got right to work and diagnosed the problem very quickly.  Both times I felt the cost for the work was very reasonable for same-day service.  I would definitely use this company again!

I called Mr. Gusky for my tenant's report of a noisy HVAC fan coil, on the basis of his outstanding Google and Yelp reviews and Better Business Bureau rating, and I'm so glad I did.   He has a senior discount for service calls, and the call covers all diagnostics.   He could have charged me a couple of thousand dollars for a new motor, as several companies estimated by 'phone and I didn't know any better.  

He told me there was nothing wrong, that the thing sounded normal; he advised me to clean my filthy filter, which I needed to learn.   He was great.  My full charge was just for the diagnosis.  

Before he arrived, he called to reset the time; he was out front right on time.  He is great - also smart, honest, personable, and just the best I could imagine.  Much less expensive than other alternatives for diagnostics, and he tells you you don't need anything if you don't.   Can't beat it, esp. with his broad and deep expertise.

Scheduled an HVAC repair with them - with time window of 5-7pm. Service tech calls me at 3:30 and says he will be at my house in 10 minutes - I tell him I am at work and will be home at 5. He says he'll get back to me. I try to follow up with him and with the front office, no replies/returned calls. No one shows up at 5, front office does not return my calls the next day.

Ended up going with another vendor (D&A HVAC) who was responsive, arrived on time, and did the repair (blown capacitor) for reasonable cost.

Poor communication and customer service. Not that hard to show up within a 2 hour time window - basic stuff!

Twas the week before Christmas and all through the basement
water was trickling along the floor of cement.
At first sight, I did not know what could be the matter,
but at second look, I noticed the water heater did splatter.
I was to leave my home for Christmas in a few days time.
What was I to do to fend off the encroaching grime?

Needless to say that I called Jimmy Gusky, as well as some other plumbers and after a cavalcade of returned calls, price negotiations, and web searches, Jimmy Gusky was the only one who was able to accommodate my time constraints without price gouging me into oblivion.

Now I won't say that my experience was exemplary, but for every situation that arose during the process of getting my water heater replaced and up to code was meet with a quick remedy. For example, I noticed that my basement sink was leaking just a few minutes after the crew left for the day. I tried to stop the leaking faucet myself but to no avail. I quickly called Jimmy Gusky and he had his guys return to address the situation. It turns out that the old faucet was beyond repair. While the guys were out at the store looking for parts, they got a call from their boss to replace the entire faucet. This was done at no charge to me.

Life was settling back into normalcy.

Until the next day when there was no more hot water. I went to check on the hot water heater and noticed that the pilot light was out. I fiddled around with the ignition settings and could not get anything to click or work. I made a call to Jimmy Gusky that Saturday evening and he personally came out to my house at 9am on a Sunday morning. He poked around and hit the right buttons and the pilot light came on. Hot water was restored and there was no charge for coming out on a Sunday morning to address the problem.

Even though the process had some ups and downs, the customer service completely warrants a five star experience.

I have had my AC unit serviced my Gusky before, but I'm amazed at the precipitous decline in customer service at this company.

Came when another company decided to not show up! Not only that came at 9pm! Replaced my hot water heater today while a friend stayed with them and I came home to a brand new perfectly installed unit! The kicker for me was they also put back the very heavy boxes I store in there! My guy's name was Timmy! He was kind and quick! Thank you!

Hire someone else for your plumbing needs!  Jimmy Gusky's company was originally sent out by my home warranty company.  They informed me that I had a leak not just in a basement pipe but also that the bathtub was rusting through and I needed a whole new bathtub and shower.  Not covered by my home warranty of course, but I figured since they were good at discovering the problems and explaining them, they would be good at fixing things.  WRONG!  They were in and out of my basement for an agonizing month - the tub was set wrong and had to be re-done, they ripped out part of a wall in my laundry room by sawing out sections of it - then put it back like that!  With the wall shredded.  The guy doing the tiles for the shower was a prima dona and threatened to walk out when I pointed out some crooked tiles.  He finished the shower off supposedly and left without caulking around the faucets and other areas! They only worked half days yet kept complaining to ME how long it was taking?!?  They were terrible, did poor work that had to be done and re-done again. And 5 months later the shower door almost fell in on my housemate.  I would never ever use them again.

Took a while to schedule our plumbing repair, because they prioritize broken A/C calls during the sweltering DC summer, which I can appreciate. Jake was our plumbing technician and he did a thorough job replacing copper pipes with color-coordinated tubing in the upstairs bathroom. Installed new shut-off valves to the vanity, toilet and tub faucets and even vacuumed before he left.

We had a water pressure problem after he left, and Jimmy Gusky had another tech at the house the next day to resolve it - the solution was really simple and had to do with sediment settlement near a valve when the water main was off for repairs. It was a bit embarrassing, frankly, to have a plumber open the valve when we could have done so ourselves to clear the sediment and restore water pressure.

Both plumbers were great about explaining their work and the rationale behind it while they were in our home. I recommend this company for the thorough repairs and friendliness, professionalism of their techs.

The fan motor of our A/C unit stopped working during the first heat wave of summer and many of the repair services we contacted were so busy they didn't bother calling us back. We called Jimmy Gusky and had an initial visit and the repair itself done within a week!

What went well: our A/C was repaired quickly and at a fair cost. A technician came to diagnose the issue on a Saturday and told me to call the office back on Monday to get a cost estimate and schedule the repair that week. The cost checked out with what I researched; another repair company previously quoted us almost double. The repair left some wires visible outside the unit which made me nervous but it's working great.

What could have gone better: less phone tag. Jimmy Gusky has an answering service that takes calls and relays them; you get a call back later (this seemed to be the case with many A/C repair companies I contacted). I think this telephone relay was the cause of minor miscommunication, delaying our initial visit and requiring some extra calls to get the cost estimate. In both cases, it was resolved quickly.

Given the busy time of year, I was pretty happy to have my A/C working again with a quick turnaround. A good experience overall and I would use this company again.

I had a HORRIBLE  experience with Jimmy Gusky and would not recommend this company to anyone.  I had an emergency situation (tenants completely without heat) and was referred to him by a relative.  He came to the apartment (late) visibly in a rush and talked to me for all of 5 minutes prior to taking a call and walking out.  He informed me that it was an easy fix (without even taking a look at all of the problem areas) and he would come out the next day.  He assured me he would be there that morning and the work would be complete prior to 3:00 (carpet cleaning was scheduled).  As the day progressed without word from him, I checked to see the status of his arrival and was told his technician was running late.   To make a LONG story short, the workman  Never appeared.  Nor did Jimmy have the decency to let me know what happened, despite numerous calls (it has been two weeks).    I was forced on a Sunday to find someone on an emergency basis and paid a premium.   I would not wish this experience on anyone and caution you against using this company.

There is the service side and the install side, I worked with the install teams this week.  We had a 20-year-old spilt-system (2 units)., operating at a SEER of something like 10, we chose a SEER 18 for the replacements.  They took three days to install everything and the pace picked up substantially with the crane that put the Condensers on the roof (replacing and removing the older units there).  They have to shoehorn them into place on the roof but they did it.  I performed most of the demo work, so the install went fast with little cleanup.  They were very competitive with their prices and we found a good final quote.  All that is left is to frame and drywall to button those ducts up and out of sight.

We had a great experience with Jimmy Gusky and his team! We needed our HVAC replaced on our roof with a crane ASAP and they rearranged their schedule to accommodate ours and were able to come a day early. We rent out our basement on AirBnB so we had narrow time frames.

On the first cold day living in our house we turned on the thermostat and...nothing happened. After doing some Yelping, we went with Jimmy Gusky and that was a great decision. The repairman showed up about two hours later (on a Saturday!), diagnosed and resolved the problem quickly, and charged what seems like a very fair price (compared to a few other companies that we called first). The guy was super friendly and nice, showed us how to deal with the issue in the future, and told us a bit about how our furnace compares to other brands for future reference.

If you wisely choose to use Jimmy Gusky for your HVAC service, repairs and maintenance, prepare for a great experience.  I have used Mr. Gusky's services a few times and he has earned a loyal fan.  A former accountant, he cannot suppress his professional, preppy, polite and educated vibe. He responds to you promptly, appears on your  doorstep, smartly attired in a polo shirt and creased slacks with an affable, pleasant attitude. But don't let his executive-about-to-play-golf attire fool you, he is there to work.  He will provide you with honest advice that will save you money.  He will not overcharge you.  He has a great team of employees. He will respect your home and not track dirt or damage things .  He will be genuinely interested in helping you. For example, he suggested a cheaper alternative to managing a leaking system instead of duping me out of thousands of dollars for a new system.  He came on short notice on a 100 degree day and labored in my sweltering attic where he discovered a circuit box, likely hit by lightening, had melted, and replaced it right away. He tended to my attic exhaust fan because he noticed it wasn't operating while he was checking on the ac system on the roof. What a knowledgeable, decent, kind gentleman.  And for me, that matters.  If it matters to you too, call Mr. Gusky.

Jimmy got back to me ASAP after I submitted my request, and it was very easy to schedule a time for my repair.  Larry, a member of his team, showed up toward the beginning of the scheduled window and completed the work quickly (repairing an outdoor pipe that had frozen and burst during the winter).  He was friendly and seemed very knowledgeable. He honored the price estimate Jimmy had given even me, even though he had to enter the crawlspace to complete the work which should've cost more.  I'm very grateful for the honest and good work they did.

I unfortunately didn't have the opportunity to work with this company because of one appointment where the technician arrived and acknowledged that he didn't know what he was there to repair. We decided to reschedule because the appointment was for a diagnostic oil leak test. After this we made two other appointments which resulted in a no show. This business is ranked number three on YELP when searching HVAC so I wanted to be patient and understanding of the time of year and potentially being busy not only with business but with family with the holidays. Overall my experience has been disappointing and we will need to work with another company moving forward.

I had such a pleasant experience with them! My landlord told me to call them when my sink was leaking. They were able to come the next day. They were really honest and explained to me what the problem was and the cheapest way to go about doing it. My nearest ACE store didn't have a replacement faucet so they went all the way out of their way to buy me a beautiful faucet. 10/10 recommend!!!

I have only had Tom working for me.  He came twice, on a timely basis to fix my heating.  On the first occasion the switch had been flicked in my box, and so I was frustrated that it was something so minor... and it was still the full call price.  It happens.  Second time, it was the same thing, although it was the switch in the HVAC closet and he was out in five minutes.  While I think he is very knowledgeable and courteous, I expected, since he happened to be in the area and just dropped by for five minutes that I would receive a significant discount.  I would still use them again.

I never write negative reviews. Ever. But after several attempts to communicate directly with Gusky Heating & Air and 7+ weeks without working AC, I am beyond frustrated. My purpose in writing this is to warn others. On 3 separate occasions they have scheduled time (which often takes MANY days) to come, so we've ensured we are home, only to have them no show, and not even bother to call. Further, it isn't until you call them multiple times to follow-up that they even get back to you. When we finally got a tech here to address our issue, the HVAC once again stopped working 3 days later. And lastly, when you do get through to someone on the phone, they are extremely rude, act put out that you are frustrated, and imply it's an imposition to fit you in. I'm completely baffled about how they are still in business. As I can now see from other recent reviews (as well as complaints on the Better Business Bureau), I am not a one-off case. This is a repeated pattern. Trust me, it's not worth it. Go elsewhere.

No communication, no actual work performed, and extremely unprofessional employees.  

This plumber was supposed to come look at a drip in our tub faucet on Friday, but failed to show up or call.  When our landlord got in touch they apologized for a broken-down truck and promised to arrive the next day.  Alright, emergencies happen and we could understand, so waited for them the next day.

But no one showed up Saturday, either.  An hour after they were due I got a text asking if it was alright if they came the next day at a certain time.  No explanation or apology for missing that day at all.

After talking to our landlord, the other plumber he works with wasn't available until Monday, so we decided to give Jimmy Gusky's one more chance.  This time someone arrived (hallelujah!).  We happened to be out, so I'd sent all the info for how to get into the house.  But the man who got there called and, without introducing himself, just rudely demanded, are you home?  I referenced my earlier text and gave him the lockbox info again.  He accused us of having a dog who would bite him because we had gates up in the house.  I told him we have no dog, we have small children.  He then said he'd take a picture of our faucet and use it to go out *the next day* to get a part and call in the morning to say when he'd be back.

I was very frustrated and told him no one had mentioned leaving and waiting another day.  He told me that was what they had to do, and when I said we'd already had days or no one showing up he said he'd had to move everything to Sunday because he got hurt and blamed his boss (none of which was what we'd been told before).

Needless to say, the next morning no one called or showed up.  I called, and was told the man looked at the drain and didn't see it drip while he was there, that handheld showers like ours just do that, and there was nothing he could do.  I explained we'd lived in the house over a year and not had the dripping issue, which had come and gone over the days since we'd first been in touch.  He said he'd talked to his boss and the boss agreed.

I asked them why no one had been in touch.  He told me, that's not my responsibility.  In discussing the situation with our landlord no one had been in touch with him the past two days, either.

So, in sum, the workers at this company don't show up, don't communicate when they don't show up, are rude and unprofessional when you can reach them, don't know how to deal with problems or ask questions about the causes when you can finally get them on scene, and fail to do anything to fix problems or even communicate that they won't be doing anything.

I don't know what worse this company could have done, and I'd avoid it at all costs if you don't want to have a similar experience.

Keep searching for another company.  Complete waste of time.  They happily accepted the job to come out and charge a service fee but didn't hear from them after about what the problem was, when they planned on coming back out, nothing!  I called the number listed on the website, goes to a receptionist, she doesn't know much, she has to text the owner to get a response on his ETA, etc... I scheduled service 3 times and  he didn't show up nor call.  Called to get an ETA and the receptionist text to see where he was so there are no real appointment times.  Just a big headache.

DO NOT HIRE, completely unreliable and untrustworthy. Said they would come back and fix a part and didn't show. When I called I was told they would find out the ETA and call me back. DIdn't do it. So I called again. Same thing.

If you want somebody who will be responsive, knowledgable and fix your AC expeditiously, look elsewhere.

I never write reviews but these guys were so horrible I felt the need to warn people. First, I called them and he quotes me a specific amount to replace toilets in my house. A week later, I called them again to schedule the job the same guy answered and he gave me a completely different rate for the job (granted, it was less than the original quote but are they just coming up with prices off the top of their heads?). The day of the job, they were suppose to come between 10am-12pm, but the plumber kept calling me pushing back the appointment because they were held up at another client's house. Finally, at around 3:30pm, he calls me to reschedule the appointment all together. He said they had a flood at the other client's house and were trying to fix the issue. I should've canceled the whole thing after he told me that, but he offered me a 10% discount on top of the Yelp discount and their rate for the job was already low so I just decided to stick with them.

Two days later, they came to my house and one guy took a look at the toilet downstairs. He told me he wouldn't be able to fix it because of the way it was previously installed. Hmmm, okkaaayy, maybe it was too complex for them so I just let that one slide. They fixed the toilet upstairs and replaced the flap for the toilet downstairs. They then quoted me a different price yet again (3rd price change!) and wasn't trying to take the Yelp discount until I pushed back on that. All in all, they overcharged me and I was pretty pissed, but I just wanted them up out my house at that point.

Later that night, I noticed that they didn't put on the caps for the screws and that my water shut off valve was missing! I called them to let them know and he told me he would call me back. Never heard back so I called the guy who did the work directly and he didn't believe me saying that there was never a valve there. B.S.!! I know my house and know that there was a shut off valve there..like are you kidding me! He then said he would come by the following Tuesday to give me a valve free of charge.Tuesday came and went and never heard from them. I called them on Wednesday and no one picked up and the automated message said that their number doesn't accept voice messages (how convenient...).

I'm just going to buy my own valve and put in on, but damn these guys suck!

So very happy Jimmy Gusky is in business! ! On a frantic Sunday morning with a blocked sewer drain,  we got our saviour in the form of James,  who took care of everything (except we still had to clean up the stinky  mess all over our floors,  unfortunately).  We were SO grateful!  And it wasn't terribly expensive,  even though it was a major job on a Sunday.   Thank you James & Jimmy Gusky LLC!!

James saved my weekend today. Woke up to some brown sludge coming up from an external drain. James was extremely friendly, and ultimately fixed the problem. Went from having a quarter inch between water coming into my house to a clean drain. Came within a few hours from calling before things got worse and I could not be more appreciative. Jimmy Gusky did a great job quickly and thoroughly diagnosing our a/c issue and repairing at a reasonable price; even at what is likely their busiest time of the year.  Our unit kept shutting off without turning on for excessive hours (temp got up to 88 degrees in the house.  We needed our a/c compressor relocated for more ventilation, and the unit checked for proper functionality.  Since the work has completed our a/c has been functioning as normal.

I'm extremely grateful that I called Jimmy Gusky for help with a longstanding HVAC problem. Since it was installed new in 2014, our HVAC never properly heated the house. Jimmy was the fourth hvac contractor who has sent out a technician to look at the unit, and the first to suggest there was a problem with the gas line. We called Washington Gas and he was right - there was a partial blockage that kept the gas from getting all the way to the heat.

Appreciate Jimmy's honest diagnosis and help, and I am very upset I didn't call him earlier given how much money I wasted on less qualified contractors (including the guy who installed it new in 2014).

Thanks again, I will be using Jimmy for any future service I need on this unit.

OMG!!! This company is the best!! My furnace went out during the coldest day in decades. The customer service is horrible. This company used to be good but is no longer. If you are a fan of being over-changed, being stood up multiple times in a row for no-show repair men, and having to have technicians come 3-4 times on average to correctly diagnose and fix a problem then this company is for you. Otherwise, look elsewhere. We had been using this company for years and despite two recent sub-par repair jobs we called Gusky when our AC started leaking and damaging the floor and lower level ceiling our new home. Despite notifying them of the critical nature of the  problem he stood both myself and my husband up two days in a row. Very disappointing.

In the beginning, things seemed to be going smoothly. A technician diagnosed my unit as being unrepairable so I agreed to have a new HVAC system installed and gave him a check for 50% of the total cost as a deposit. A day later, I received an apologetic call from the owner informing me that they lost the deposit check, but that I would only have to cover the remaining balance because of their negligence. If not for the offer of the generous discount, I would not have used them. Losing payment is irresponsible and subjects me to fraud. A few days later my HVAC unit is installed. The same day, the owner shows up to my house asking for the entire amount originally due, back peddling away from his initial offer of a discount.

TLDR: Worst customer service and repair experience I've had in the past couple of years. I was assigned them via American Home Shield and highly recommend you call your home warranty provider to change contractors right away.

When I called to schedule an appointment they gave me one a few days away with a 5 hour window, which was fine. When the day came, they never showed. I called to ask what happened, someone picked up the phone and let me know they would call me back. They did not call me back.

I called the next day to get on the schedule again and gave me another date a few days out with the same large 5 hour window. Same story, did not show up and was told they would call back when I tried to see what happened.  

The next day they called and said they would be out that day. They came by and reported they could not identify the water leak from my air duct because it was no longer raining and to schedule a follow up appointment while it was raining.

I scheduled a follow up appointment for a week later when it would be raining. Since the previous appointments were missed I called mid way through the week to verify the appointment was still on the schedule and was yelled at by their customer service rep for questioning if they would even make it.  Surprise surprise, they missed the appointment and didn't even bother to call me to tell me they couldn't make it or reschedule.

So it is nearly 4 weeks later from when I first reported the issue and it had rained multiple times since and my leak is not fixed. I cannot stress enough to go with another company.

This smaller company does quality work and has excellent, personalized customer service. Tom Kelly worked with my schedule and provided sage counsel on options for replacing my HVAC after another larger company that had worked on my gas furnace problems over the winter and identified a refrigerant leak in the electric AC during the spring inspection gave me an inflated estimate for replacing my system. The install team arrived somewhat later than originally scheduled, but Tom gave me a heads-up, and they professionally and efficiently installed the new Trane equipment. When you call, there's a good chance you might get Jimmy himself answering the phone. I live in a 3-story condo building and highly recommended this company to all of the other unit owners.

Gusky has fixed two clogged drains and kitchen garbage disposal. The business charges a fee-for-service rather than charge per hour. The cost was cheaper for me in the end as a result. They did not come as scheduled but were able to reschedule quickly. The owner called me personally afterwards to check on the quality of service. The technician, James, did an excellent quality job fixing the kitchen sink and even pointed out to me user-friendly information about how he did so.

Jimmy Gusky and his team installed a new water heater for us. Their price was reasonable, they installed a quality water heater, and they took care of the simple postcard permit involved. They were on time, and the process was pretty quick (an initial visit and quote on Saturday, and new water heater installed Monday). Everyone we communicated with was upbeat and knowledgeable -- I definitely appreciate that, and will call them again if/when we have an HVAC or plumbing issue.

I've received great HVAC service in the past from Jimmy Gusky and I wish I could write a positive review for the new AC and furnace units I purchased through them (over $6,000). I mentioned from the beginning the need for sound insulation/lining in the return ducts due to voices/noise that carry from the basement to upstairs and vice-versa. I was told if I bought a new furnace in addition to new AC unit now they could really get to all the ductwork to properly insulate it. So I did. They did the install on everything and despite having to get them back out a couple times, they were responsive and did a good job overall. However, upon further inspection the return ducts were never sound lined AS WRITTEN IN THE CONTRACT. I made a couple of calls suggesting an amicable solution as I still want the work done. They have ignored my last calls and emails.  Disappointed and still waiting for resolution, Jimmy. Do not recommend.

My furnace stopped working on a freezing cold day right before Christmas. I figured I was going to be out of heat for quite some time. Not only was it basically a holiday weekend, but my furnace was old, a weird model with multiple brands of parts, and missing most of its identifying stickers. I was stuck at work so my girlfriend (freezing, at home) took the initiative and called Jimmy Gusky's LLC on a desperate, random Google search.

Tom, the serviceman managed to come out very quickly. He correctly identified the problem, plus a few other issues that might come up sooner rather than later. He knew what parts my furnace needed, was honest about what needed to be fixed vs what could be fixed but wasn't critical, and didn't recommend I replace the whole unit even though such a suggestion would have been a plausible diagnosis.  He was on time, met the schedule that he set, and communicated very well.

I got lucky and the broken part was locally available. By the next day, the heater was fixed. I approved the minor additional care that was suggested. Totally out of kindness, they even sent out a 2nd crew after the furnace was back online to do a quick system cleaning.  Just today, they called back to make sure everything was okay. Case closed, flawless victory. If only all contractors were so easy to work with.

update: I hired them again for some trouble with my hot water heater. Same experience.

Our AC broke this weekend and Jimmy Gusky came to the rescue.  I had called the company that had installed the unit and was told that they could come the following Friday.  So much for emergency service.  I called Jimmy Gusky and not only did Jimmy himself answer the phone at 8am on a holiday but he sent someone out that afternoon.  The technician who came was extremely thorough.  He gently explained that user error created the problem and walked me through how to prevent it in the future.  Lastly, the cost for the emergency service call did not knock me over.  I will definitely use Jimmy Gusky for future emergency and routine maintenance.

I called 3 different companies and either could not then to come out or they were a no show. Jimmy Gusky not only answered my phone call but told me someone would be out first thing in the AM. A tech was at my door at 8am. He diagnosed my Havc issue and even had parts in the truck to fix it. By noon my air conditioning was cooling down my townhouse and now I'm set for he Summer. I'm not one to give props to anyone on Yelp but Gusky's customer service  is one of a kind and something you just don't see form other companies these days. My next step is a Gusky service contract for my plumbing and Havc system. These guys are the best.

Terrible customer service and abysmally slow work. Gusky's plumber came out to inspect a water heater on a Saturday. His report wasn't submitted until the following Wednesday. An appointment for installation was made on a Friday for the following Monday just to receive word on Monday, shortly before the appointment, that Gusky did not have the equipment. Phone calls are rarely answered and voicemails are never returned. When the phone is answered, the receptionist often says she'll relay the message. No return calls have followed. Gusky has left us two weeks without hot water and little confidence that their work will be completed. Very disappointed.

Our heater quit working just as the temperatures dropped.  After calling 2 other places, I struck gold with Jimmy Gusky.  When asked if he possibly had someone who could come to my house today, his answer was absolutely. He gave me a time frame and I received a call from Tom when he was one job away so I would have a good idea when he was coming.  He had the heater working again in about 15 minutes with a temporary solution, which will be permanently fixed on Monday.  So nice and toasty already in my house.  I used the Yelp coupon, which saved me over $30 on the visit.  I highly recommend this company.

Our experience with Jimmy Gusky was fantastic.  Like another reviewer mentioned - our quote was WAY below the others I received for replacing our AC and furnace.  I called Jimmy on a Saturday and Tom was out that Monday to go over everything - I had the estimate that night and they were out 2 days later.  

The guys arrived at 7:15 for a 7:30AM install, 15 minutes early, amazing!  They were done in less than 3 hours and these guys worked their a**es off.  Needless to say there was a problem with the original wiring and they did have another job to go to so Jimmy sent two other guys over to fix this issue.  Mike and his brother came by and got the wiring squared away but noticed that there was another problem in that the original install from the 80's had 1/4 inch return line in the ceiling and 3/8 coming from the wall and back out to the roof that was only half done sometime in the early 2000's  - no one had ever noticed this before.  It took a couple more trips for them to come back, run new copper in the ceiling, collect and recharge everything to get us done - but they made sure to keep our AC running the entire time.

This was totally out of scope of the original project and after all said and done - Jimmy was way more than fair about the cost for the extra work.  These guys are really courteous, timely and very good about staying in touch.  Their work was really good and they were very honest about everything, Jimmy actually came by the house on the last day to check on everything.  I have nothing but good things to say and will continue to use their services.  Very happy that I chose them.

Jimmy Gusky was a pain to work with. We needed an AC/heat unit installed to replace a broken one. Simple, right? Well, the whole process took almost three months. This meant we went through the heat of September and the cold of November without a functional unit. Whether it was skipping appointments with no call to notify or reschedule (twice), failing to return phone calls (10-15 times!?), showing up outside the appointment window and then lecturing me for not being instantly available, or doing a shoddy job of the work itself, Jimmy Gusky repeatedly proved themselves to be a company I cannot recommend.

The customer service was really abysmal. It was almost impossible to get a human on the line, messages were rarely if ever returned, and when I did speak to someone I would be assured he'll call you right back, which also didn't happen. Trying to reach them via email proved equally frustrating, as I got an automated message saying I would be responded to soon. For a month.
Finally, when they came to do work, they didn't bother to call and let me know they were on their way. Isn't this standard for home appointments? Even Sears does this, and they're going out of business! I missed one appointment because I had the audacity to take a shower without my phone in the bathroom, and that was the time they decided to show up. Apparently I was supposed to stay glued to my phone for the entire two or three hour window in the off chance it rang...?!

I'll let the pictures speak for themselves. The first shows the temporary fix of an eyesore that we endured for two weeks while waiting for them to honor their scheduled appointments. The second shows our finished installation.

Two stars because we no longer have a gaping hole in the wall filled with styrofoam and it is finally warm in the apartment.

We called Jimmy Gusky to come do routine maintenance for our air conditioning unit.  It was the beginning of the summer, this is our first home, we were told that regular maintenance for air conditioning units was a good and responsible thing to do -- so we said what the heck, let's do it.  Mind you, our air conditioning unit was working perfectly well -- we had no concerns about it.  A technician from Jimmy Gusky came by (who was, as an aside, incredibly rude -- I don't know whether his problem was that I was a woman, or that I was non-white, but I assume one of those things as he seemed to be far less condescending to my husband) and told us we needed more freon.  He put in the freon and left.  The next day, the air conditioning unit stopped working entirely.  Another technician from Jimmy Gusky came out, told us that our unit had too much freon, and removed some of it.  A day later, the system stopped working again, the technician came back and removed more freon and added some sealant to the pipes, and left.  A couple days later, the air conditioner stopped working yet again.  This time, another Jimmy Gusky technician told that the fan in the air conditioner was broken.  This was, of course, not their fault -- they said it was purely coincidental that the fan happened to break in the midst of the repairs (just 2 days after their technician had last come out).  Anyway, they replaced the fan.  The unit worked fine for about 6 weeks, though it was much louder than it had been before (presumably because of the quality of the new fan).  Today, it stopped working again.  We called Jimmy Gusky, who told us that our problem wasn't their problem and that they would charge us their full service fee for the follow-up repair.

We've asked another company to come fix the problem that Jimmy Gusky created.

I was referred to Jimmy Gusky Heating and Air by a family friend who has known the company and the owner for many years.  I called first thing in the morning and thankfully got on the schedule for the afternoon.  This is our family home and my parents lived here for over 50 years...Needless to say, there must have been 50 years plus of crud clogging the pipes!  James The Drain Fighter came to the rescue!  I didn't know the clog was as bad as it was until he had to use a more powerful snake.  He worked hard on getting the drain open and he wouldn't give up!  That's what did it for me.  I appreciate his tenacity and for communicating with me every step along the way.  He was courteous, very respectful, and with all the sludge and gunk that came out of those pipes, he even made sure to clean the floor.  I would defintely recommend using them!

The heating system in my rented townhouse stopped working on Saturday morning.  I called Jimmy Gusky, and he personally came out and inspected the system within two hours!!!!  He told me the capacitator needed to be replaced, and that the motor might go within 1-2 years.  He was very responsive, honest, and resolved the problem quickly and fairly.

I would recommend Jimmy Gusky HVAC!!

I called Jimmy to get a quote on a radiator removal and replacement.  Tom came to the house and seemed not to know what to do.  He said he would talk to Jimmy and get a quote.  I didn't hear from them so I called and Tom called me to give me a quote.  He called and we spoke about what would and would not be included in the price.  He said he'd get back to us by Monday.  No word.  I emailed Jimmy and asked him if Tom can get back to us.  No word.  Everyone wants to make money but no one wants to work.  Horrible customer service and follow up.

i asked them to come out for a furnace inspection. this was handled by two extremely competent guys who also diagnosed and provided a temporary fixe for a persistent noise problem in the heating system that had been bothering me for years. i had given up on fixing this since i had at least three other companies look at the noise issue over the years. excellent service!

Love these guys and the owner is amazing.  Our furnace blew out right in the middle of a cold front, of course.  Jimmy came over right away personally and did an assessment and we had a new (and appropriately sized) furnace in by the next evening.  Excellent work, excellent customer service, totally transparent process.  Thank you!

We had a very frustrating experience, but Jimmy's efforts to make it right saved this from being a 1-star rating.

My wife and I returned home from a trip to find the A/C not functioning; our regular guy, Rob Saini (Saini Air Conditioning) was booked solid, so we came on Yelp and found Jimmy Gusky, who fortunately was able to fit us in, even though it was a Saturday in July.

The tech arrived within the window and very quickly (less than 5 minutes) diagnosed it as a failed compressor requiring a full replacement. He said that we'd get a call the following Monday with an estimate. The cost for that was $129 and he was gone within 10 minutes of arriving.

Fortunately, Rob had a cancellation on Monday and came by. He agreed that the issue was with the compressor, but correctly suggested that a booster would serve as a temporary fix until we could schedule the full replacement. He installed the booster, verified that we were getting cold air, and we were able to sleep comfortably that night!

We didn't get the promised call with the estimate, so I called them and asked to speak to a supervisor/manager. I was told they were already gone for the day (at 5:15, which seems early during the summer rush, but ok) but that I'd get a call the next day. Jimmy called me back a few hours later, and I explained what happened. He said that this was the first he was hearing about it (which was frustrating itself, since we were supposed to be getting an estimate from him that day) but he agreed that the tech did a sloppy job and apologized. He also agreed to refund (or not charge) us the cost of the call.

Ultimately, the only harm done was that we had two extra days with no A/C, which was not a big deal. But that's only because we were lucky enough to have someone else to help us. Had I not called them back, I'm not sure when, if ever, we would have heard back on the estimate, and even if we had gotten that call, we would have been spending money we didn't need to spend. Definitely won't be using them again, even if Rob is unavailable!

My hot water heater went out and I realized it on a Sunday morning (of a holiday weekend of course). By Sunday afternoon a technician from Jimmy Gusky was over to diagnose the problem and told me I needed a new water heater (mine was 20 years old so no wonder). Two more technicians came over first thing Monday morning to install the new one. They were courteous and professional and had the new one installed within two hours. So far so good!! I was really impressed that within 24 hours of my initial call I have a new hot water heater installed and the price was very reasonable.

I've used them twice - two years in a row for annual service check.   They arrive on time, are friendly, courteous, and knowledgeable.  Plus my building has a tricky path to access the HVAC units and these guys had no issues.

Called Jimmy Gusky because the AC went out and was told that a tech would be there between 5-7pm.  At 7:30pm the tech is a no show and I call.  I'm told they will reach out to the tech and ask him to call me but that the window might be as wide as from 5-9pm.  Okay.  I call at 8pm, now I just get the message service and they send a message to the tech asking him to call me - urgent.  At 8:30 I call again after no response to ask if the tech is going to come or not.  Again, tech is supposed to call me back.  Nothing.  Next day at noon I get a call from the tech saying that he's just now received my messages and that he can be there in an hour.  Too bad.  I'd already called someone who came, diagnosed, and fixed the problem.

I had a broken control board in my HVAC system, which Jimmy was quickly able to identify. They had to order the part, which came relatively quickly, so they had to come back and replace it on another visit. They were flexible with scheduling. They also guaranteed their service with a warranty call. We had a minor issue with billing, but it was quickly corrected when I drew their attention to it. Overall, very good service at a reasonable rate.

This review is for Tom Kelly, who repaired the motor of our HVAC after our heat stopped working in the middle of a frigid week.  Tom promised me that we would have heat by the end of the day and that we wouldn't have to stay in a hotel for the night, and he went above and beyond to deliver on that promise.  He drove in rush hour all over Maryland to get the missing part he needed to make the repair, and our heat was back on by dinner time.  Would recommend to anyone looking for someone kind, reliable, and honest.

The service that I received from this company is absolutely ridiculous. I understand that it is summer and business is busy but not communicating with your customers is unacceptable. I was told for 3 days that someone would come in at certain time to repair HVAC unit only for them to not show up and me continuously calling to figure out what the status was . Finally, someone came and looked at it and rudely said they can't do it and left without an explanation. I am extremely disappointed and this situation could have been avoided completely if there had been better communication between the repair men and the owner.

In the middle of a wet summer heatwave our AC went out. Jimmy's crew suggested we move our AC unit so it would stop overheating. Two days later they came back out moved the unit and made some repairs at a competitive price. They tied up the wires nicely because of our neighborhood critters.  I would highly recommend them.

They do acceptable work (which gets 'em an extra point,) but the service SUUUUUCCCKKKKS. Communication is absolutely ABYSMAL and 50% of the time they don't show up when promised. Worse than that, they don't have the professionalism or courtesy to give a heads-up or proactively reach out to reschedule.

In other words, typical contractor that gives contractors a bad name.

Don't believe the 4.0 rating. They had to have had friends & family spike it, becasue there is NO way anyone has had a 5-star experience with this stereotype-enforcing crappy contractor.

Read the other 1 and 2-star reviews. Those are spot-on.

I scheduled an appointment to have my AC units serviced 5 days in advance.  The day of the service comes around, nobody shows, nobody calls.  One more chance I figured, it's early summer in DC and it's getting hot, I'm sure they are very busy and there's no way they would miss a second appointment!  So I called the next morning and they tell me they were busy. I rescheduled for first thing tomorrow morning.  No call, no show.  I called back a third time, just for fun at this point.  I was curious what their response would be.  Straight to voicemail.  Now I have to find another company and wait several more days for an appointment.

We had a serious water emergency and Jimmy and James the plumber saved us  We had the valve for our washing machine snap off.  Water immediately started gushing out, flooding our place and  the unit below us.  Thank god for Jimmy. He picked up the phone and quickly and calmly walked us over the phone w/r/t how to stop the flooding. In the meantime, he sent James the plumber to come and fix the broken valve.  

James the plumber came by in no time, replaced the pipe and the broken valve and had our water back on.  

They literally saved us thousands and thousands of dollars of water damage.   We are very very grateful and could not recommend them any more enthusiastically.

We experienced a bunch of issues with our hvac after accepting an offer on our condo and having a closing deadline in 10 days. Jimmy's was instrumental in getting the hvac (entire replacement!) done in the timeframe.
Although there were some initial hiccups in communicating the the home warranty company (not necessary Jimmy's fault) Jimmy and his staff were extremely responsive and assured us the work would get done before our closing deadline. This involved calls and texts after 5pm, and Jimmy even dropped off the unit himself the night before the installation so his crew would have it first thing. His staff are very skilled and professional- we are so lucky we used this company. Thanks guys! Hopefully we won't have any hvac issues in the near future but if we do, we will be using Jimmy's

I'm a fan, would use them again and would recommend them to others.  We used them to replace a water heater in a rental. I got the referral from another unit owner.  The interesting thing is that both of us use another company for general maintenance but who seems to have super high estimates for repairs.  I was very happy with the work Jimmy did and their price.  I was really surprised that it was always Jimmy who answered when I called.  Would have given five stars but they missed their first appointment (earlier job went long).

I read the reviews on Yelp and thought this would be a great company to call.  But beware and learn from my awful experience.  A guy was called out to fix my leaking HVAC, and he thought he had fixed the problem and left.  It continued to leak and over the next several days more (and different) contractors were sent to my home to try to fix the problem.  Each one seemed to know less than the next.  I was charged an excessive amount and got no solution, missed appointments, and terrible customer service.  I would avoid these guys at ALL costs.

It was a cold Saturday AM; my water heater went out on me; Jimmy came to the rescue.  He and his team were prompt, efficient and professional.  I cannot say enough about them.  

In less than a day, they completed the job.  Life would have been tough without a working water heater.

If you are seeking a plumber or HVAC guy - Jimmy is the guy.He is great.

Jimmy came out to assess the work we wanted done in our kitchen and after that, we never heard back from him. We called 10+ times trying to get him to send us the quote and he never called back or answered the phone. Even his assistant claimed he would call back and he never did.

They didn't show up to the first appointment I made and made no attempt to update me. I called at the end of the service window and had to call twice to get a response. They told me they couldn't make it. Rescheduled for the next morning and they missed that appointment as well. Zero customer service or apology.

Recommended by a friend and hoped to find a good Heating and Air company that I could use going forward.  Unfortunately, I had a less than stellar response from this company.  They are unprofessional and unreliable.  
Called and set up multiple appointments to be told repeatedly that someone would come and no one ever came.  Wasted so much time waiting on this company.
