Best Gas Furnace Installation in Portland OR
Had a horrible experience. As a person of color I am used to micro aggressions but wasn't expecting this experience based on this company's reviews. After completing a job at my condo the service person went out to sign papers and came back with my invoice. I gave him my AMEX and he said they didn't take American Express, despite the company stating they take all forms of payment in their website. He replied that if I didn't pay within 30 days I would be turned over to collections. A later call to the company and I was told they do accept American Express. I told the woman accepting my payment my experience and that I wanted to complain as I felt that my black skin played into his dialogue over not accepting my card and his subsequent threat of collections. I was rerouted to a manager who went to great lengths to whitesplain how that wasn't the service persons intent and that he was a good person. She was very intent on defending and excusing his behaviors and was unable to listen to my black experience. My question is if they don't take American Express why did they so readily take a phone payment using the very card the service person refused to take 2 days earlier? Not a good feeling as the service was great otherwise and I love passing on businesses that provide good service.

I always always use these guys. Except recently, I almost cheated on them with somebody else and I feel horrible about it. Ultimately, I came back to these guys to get the job done. I don't know what I was thinking even considering somebody else.
This was the first time I had worked with their guy named Justin. He is top notch, just like everybody else they have. In particular, Justin's emotional intelligence in terms of explaining the job was fantastic. You know, plumbing jobs can sometimes induce sticker shock, but he was able to keep me level headed. With that said, their estimate turned out to be in line, and even better, than the other estimates I received.
There's just simply nobody else I'm gonna call going forward whenever I need plumbing done. Being able to trust these guys just puts my wife at ease.

Installed kitchen faucet. They were everything I could ask for. Good communication via email, prompt, friendly, cleaned up after themselves. Professional installation.

Avoid if you can. Apollo will over charge 3-5X the market rate.
I will not do business with this company again.

I reached out to Green box mechanical regarding replacing my water main line because of their high rating on Angie's list. I received an email confirmation from Mike Llewelyn telling me that Luis would be at our house at 1pm the next day. This worked out perfectly because I could just run home during my lunch break and walk Luis through the problem so he could provide a quote. I receive a missed call at noon but was not able to answer it. I hurry home (a 45 min commute) to make sure I'm on time to meet the plumber. 1 pm rolls by and still no Luis. I wait until 1:30 thinking he's probably running late and he still hasn't arrived yet. 2 pm rolls by and still no sign so I call the number provided for Luis. I ask what his ETA is and he tells me that our appt. was for noon and he figured I was a no show. I informed him that the confirmation email I received from Mike definitely said 1pm. His excuse was that he claimed it was a scheduling error but could still provide me with a quote. He explained to me that they would have to outsource the hydro vacuum/pumping they don't haul away the dirt once it's been vacuumed out, so it would be more cost effective if I called the company directly. He also said that they don't do the backfill so I would also have to haul my own gravel and dirt to fill up the hole that would be created by them!
After receiving just the quote for their services, not including the cost of the hydro vacuum or the backfill, they still came in way higher than any other of the companies I bid the job out with. Just ridiculous! I honestly don't understand their high reviews on Angie's list. I would not recommend them, as they are very unprofessional.

We can't recommend Central Air strongly enough. Last year we finished building our dream home and just as we were closing it became apparent that among a crew of otherwise wonderful subcontractors, our HVAC provider had really let us down on some finishing work. We ended up with a wonderful house that was hard to enjoy because the A/C was missing (in the middle of one of those record breaking heat waves) and our air filter and several vents didn't fully work. Since the drywall was all closed up and we were in a rush to move in with a baby on the way, we needed a new HVAC company that not only knew their stuff, but would be willing to crawl around the attic and utility spaces of a home already built by someone else, correcting lots of little issues here and there that involved lots of labor.
Central Air came through with flying colors and now all our vents are well mounted with great airflow, our air filter is properly installed and easy to maintain, our A/C blows nice and chilly in the summertime, and they even spotted and fixed issues we didn't even know about like poorly sealed ductwork and missing insulation. Every step of the way, our point of contact Art Mays was patient, responsive, and always listened to exactly what we wanted (even willing to come out and make tweaks without complaint).
Whether you have a straightforward HVAC installation need, or a complex repair, we strongly suggest you talk to Central Air when comparing bids. You won't regret it.

There current radio ad for new employees is very misleading!
They are like a lot of other companies and try to up sale you instead of fix the problem! We needed the igniter fixed on our furnace and when the technician showed up and begin to look at the furnace another technician showed up and tried to tell me we needed a new furnace before the first technician had even tried to fix the problem! Very unprofessional and high pressure!
Once he had given me a way overpriced quote and I told him to leave the first technician did clean the igniter and got the furnace working but did not do a full service and clean the system but charged me way more than I was quoted and didn't even do all the work he charged us for!
I would definitely use another company!
This work was done in November and I complained but never got a response or call back!
I just heard there raido ad that say the complete opposite of how they operate and how they aren't like other companies and try to sell you something instead of fixing the problem! Such a lie!

Had issues connecting to the internet. Ryan came by and had it up in just minutes. Plus he explained what he did so that way I'll know what to do should it ever happen again. I highly recommend Air Stars.

They provide very good and sound advice and great customer service. Went with tankless water heater and they did professional installation. Very flexible and amendable to changes of mind or schedules. They are there to make the customer happy.

Showed up on time, polite, professional, knew what he was doing, and was fast. Even did the clean-up! Accommodated a last minute request for snaking a slow sink. Asked for his card and would definitely recommend and use again.

If I could give less than one star, I would. My husband used them for plumbing and electrical work awhile back and thought he would use them again to service our furnace and A/C. I had reservations because the plumbing and electrical work was expensive but they did a good job.
Needless to say, they came to do our annual service of our furnace and A/C and low and behold, tell us we have modules going out on both. Interesting since our units are both 5 years old. The serviceman quoted us almost $500 for the part on our A/C and $800 for the part on our furnace, this didn't include labor. I thought it was odd and that our A/C should at least still be under warranty, which it was but he never bothered to check or mention. I had to call the person who installed my A/C to confirm it is still under warranty and then had to tell the Roth's serviceman how to warranty our the module.
The serviceman went about his maintain with the units and we were going to pay him for the labor until he said it was going to be $300 for the A/C alone. I questioned why so high and he said it was for his expertise and because he had to go back to get the part, after he told us he had the part in his van. (They did the same thing to us when they did our plumbing and electric jobs). At this point we told him to please just finish the service and not do any repairs.
Flash forward to today where we had the company who did our install of our A/C out to check everything. Guess what? Zero problem with our furnace and the module on the A/C was testing a bit low and probably didn't need to be replaced but he did it free of charge since he was already here. Imagine that. Someone didn't want to gouge us for $1,600.
I'll bet almost anything that Roth will respond that they gave us options to ensure we were informed or they have no record of me being a customer which is how they seem to respond to most bad reviews. My husband is the customer, they don't have my name, so that should resolve that problem. I would 100% believe the bad reviews and NOT use this company. How anyone could try to take advantage of someone they consider a customer in this current landscape is beyond me. They are unethical, overpriced and not worth the time. Call a small business owner, ask friends and family for recommendations but do NOT use this company if you can avoid it.

No stars, if allowed, but unfortunately, to post the review, I have to give them an undeserved star. They sent out someone who couldn't diagnose our problem, and he stayed about twenty minutes. They billed us for a truck charge ($60) and an hour and a quarter technician time, parking (he could have parked in the loading zone), and said our unit was incorrectly installed. The technician also said that the PMC plumbing team would follow up. No follow up. Turns out, after hiring another company, because of the aforementioned lack of follow up, our condensation pump was bad and indeed the unit had been installed correctly. The pump was quickly replaced and all was fixed to our satisfaction BY ANOTHER COMPANY. And still, they billed us on our credit card also telling us today, that they were sending another bill for another $12 or so because they didn't bill us enough in the first place. Very disappointed with the lack of service and professionalism displayed by this company.

I had a leak in my backyard from an old sprinkler system with galvanized pipes....called D & F Plumbing to get an estimate. I was told there was a $99 fee just to come out and look, but I needed immediate help so, I agreed. The nice young man came and assessed the situation, made a call into the boss and said it would cost a minimum of $2600 (less the $99) as long as the leak was within the 21 foot pipe span, but could be a lot more. I ended up getting another bid from United - a great company - no charge to come out and survey the problem, said he wasn't sure what he would find, but said that $2600 sounded really high.....he dug three feet, found the leak and repaired it all for $243.00!! What a price difference ($2347.000 to be exact)....very happy with the job and will not be calling D & F again. I'm still upset about paying the $99 fee just to get them out to my house for an unreasonable bid.Thank you United for your quick fix and honesty. I recommend United to anyone needing a plumber. Feel a return of my $99.00 would be fair from D & F Plumbing, but I doubt that will happen.
