Cornel's is always wonderful. Steve and Eric came out to install a tankless gas water heater for us and did a fantastic job. Not only that, their bid was about $2000 LESS than the other bid we got. They are easy to work with, friendly, honest, and good at what they do. I highly recommend using them for whatever you need.

Great experience from start to finish. Easy to schedule through Yelp's messaging service, quick responses and plenty of notice about when they were on their way. I had a number of small maintenance and repair tasks around the house that Mario and Andrey completed quickly and efficiently. I also had a larger project that I asked for an estimate on that I knew would be trouble because of the age of the plumbing and the irreplaceable tile around the fixture. (Several plumbers before Cornel's had declined the job as a result.) They were candid that a specialist in the Portland area would be a better choice for this specialized task and provided his contact information. I think that level of honesty and professionalism speaks highly of Cornel's, and I would be more than happy to recommend them to my neighbors in the future.

After three calls to other plumbers, Cornel's was the first to answer the phone and schedule service for the next day, with a tentative possibility of having someone available the same day. Cornel's was responsive and did in fact have someone come out the day I called. In a little over an hour, they had fixed a leak in my main water line by installing a swing joint to replace the break in the line (I had dug the ground sufficiently around the leak to expose the pipe in preparation for the plumbing work).
But when I saw the repair, I was somewhat shocked and questioned if it was strictly compliant with code as it protruded vertically quite a bit and was no longer below the frost line. I didn't bury the line right away and decided instead to observe the line for leak integrity for a few days. After noticing a nearly imperceptible leak, I decided to run my concerns by Cornel's Service Manager, Cody J.
Cody returned my call promptly and was prepared to discuss my service call while reviewing images of the work. Cody listened to my concerns and then urgently took action to make corrections. Justin came out the very next day and with a high level of craftsmanship and attention to detail, re-did the repair to be more compact and to lie flat and in-plane with the original piping. Justin's professionalism and robust routing leaves no doubt in my mind his repair is firm and reliable.
In summary, as others have stated, Cornel's may charge on the higher end for their services, however they are very responsive, and they take quality and customer satisfaction very seriously as well.

I've used Yelp as a consumer for years, but this is my first review and it goes to Cornel's plumbing for the amazing work and customer service they provided throughout a sewer line repair project at our new home. From start to finish, they were extremely sympathetic, efficient and professional. Long story short, my partner and I had just purchased our first home and, a few days after moving in, we noticed sewage water backing up from our downstairs shower. It turns out a newly installed grounding rod had been driven right through the sewer line. Based on other reviews, we contacted Cornel's to assess the problem and ultimately repair the sewer line. As first time homeowners, my girlfriend and I were very stressed and overwhelmed with the situation, but Cornel's handled it with grace. Since the sewer line came out of the basement, they needed to dig an 8' deep hole to access the line. Because of the equipment and scheduling needed for the job, they weren't able to come out same day, but scheduled the repair ASAP. They provided us with a Honey Pot in the meantime (not ideal for your first week in a new house, but let me tell you it was necessary and thoughtful). When they came out for the excavation and repair, they were efficient and professional. Edgar was the excavation lead and he explained everything they were doing, was super friendly, and obviously cared for the safety of his team. The job was completed in one afternoon and they took care to not damage the lawn surrounding the repair site, refilling the hole and sprinkling grass seed when complete. Shout out to Nate who first diagnosed the repair (and also fixed our sink that same day) and Marius and Megan in the office who were super patient and helpful. Cornel's even allowed us to wait until we had been compensated by the electrician's insurance before paying. The whole experience was smoother than expected and, a few months later, everything is still flushing properly. Thank goodness.

What a great business. Honest, prompt and I appreciate your integrity. I needed emergent help, I was able to get a plumber urgently with Cornel's plumbing.
They confirmed rapidly and sent someone right away. Our set up is not usual and they were able to look at it, phone a friend and ultimatley, they were not able to fix it and didnt want to charge me if they didnt know what the issue was. It was a simple fix once our power returned, but I cannot speak higher of the busniess. Thank you I will use you if I have any issues in the future needing plumber needs.

This is a tough one. The job was done very neatly, but it is not what I discussed. The first plumber came out to give the estimate. We fully discussed the project. Two other plumbers came out, we discussed the project, maybe not in enough depth. They ended up installing a pipe horizontal across a wall of my garage were I had discussed a more vertical installation. By the time I discovered it, the job was almost done. So know I am stuck with good work that gets the job done, but was not what I wanted. So 2 stars seems fair. Make sure you take whatever time is needed with the crew that shows up because they have not been briefed at all. All that said, it is a pretty bad screw-up I am stuck with so I would not use again even though again, the quality of the work is good.

RIP OFF!!! WARNING

Plumber arrived and tried charging my mother nearly $500 dollars to replace the tiny valve behind her toilet!! They also charged her a $50 estimate fee for being there only 5-10 minutes she said.

She called me crying because she can't afford that.

I went to Home Depot and bought a valve for less than $15. Shut her water off in the garage and replaced it. Turned the water back on. It took me less than 20 minutes.

In what universe do you live in that you think it's OK to charge an elderly woman who lives alone half of a THOUSAND DOLLARS for 20 minutes of work for a simple alve?!

SCAM BUSINESS, SHAME ON YOU!!!

We moved into our house and discovered the seller had left us a broken tub spout - no ability to take a shower. Cornel's scheduled service quickly, and the technician actually was early to the appointment. He quickly diagnosed the problem, contacted a plumbing supplier for the specialty replacement part needed, and returned to complete the repair on the day that worked for us. In the process, he discovered 2 other problems that needed fixing, and took care of both of them in that second visit.

I was impressed by the ease of scheduling, timeliness of service, and thorough approach to fixing our problems. Now showering happily.

I can not say enough good things about this company. Everyone you deal with is so nice, helpful and professional. I hired them to re-pipe my house and to do the plumbing for a bathroom remodel. I never felt like they were trying to up sell me or take advantage of my lack of knowledge of anything plumbing. They are a family run company that just wants to do good for their customers. I had no idea where my shut off valve inside my house was. When Mario came out to give me a free quote to repipe my house he searched everywhere for it. He even climbed down in my crawl space to look for it. The other companies that came out didn't even care or try. Seeing that they are willing to go above and beyond for a free quote made me realize they were the company for me.

Yesterday was the 4th time I've used Cornell's Plumbing. This time, it was to replace the faucet set in my 17 year old bathroom sink. The work took close to 2 hours, and cost $350. The new faucet was a twin handled Moen set that I purchased from Home Depot. Cornel told me the price before he began work. He left the sink spotlessly clean and (at my request) removed all packaging and the old faucet. Yes, plumbers are expensive, but if I have to spend the money, I at least have the satisfaction of knowing that it's done by a reliable, trustworthy company.

I always always use these guys. Except recently, I almost cheated on them with somebody else and I feel horrible about it. Ultimately, I came back to these guys to get the job done. I don't know what I was thinking even considering somebody else.

This was the first time I had worked with their guy named Justin. He is top notch, just like everybody else they have. In particular, Justin's emotional intelligence in terms of explaining the job was fantastic. You know, plumbing jobs can sometimes induce sticker shock (even when a nonprofessional like me thinks it should be a simple thing) but he was able to keep me level headed. With that said, their estimate turned out to be in line, and even better, than the other estimates I received.

There's just simply nobody else I'm gonna call going forward whenever I need plumbing done. Being able to trust these guys just puts my wife at ease.

This company is wonderful! I called Mario this morning to ask if anyone could come today for our kitchen pipe problem, and they cheerfully arrived within an hour! They were incredibly kind, friendly, efficient and highly professional. He even scrubbed and cleaned the residue left by my backed-up sink after they got the drain clear!

I know that Cornel's has a full schedule because we're on there for a non-urgent job (full house repiping) so I was delighted when, after breaking my own sink trying to fix it myself, they made room for me the next day. Alex came this morning, fixed the part I failed to fix AND fixed the more serious damage I did trying to brace myself on an old, brittle pipe causing a leak that put this sink out of commission. We've used them before and they did excellent job. They were originally referred to us by our really good electrician and that's the person who ought to know. We highly recommend Cornel's Plumbing.

My hot water heater was leaking and needed to be replaced. I contacted Cornel's and from start to finish they were very professional, on time to the job, called before arrival, provided the quote, and explained the work that needed to be done. He had the water heater up and ready to go in about 2 hours! I will use them again in the future and highly recommend them to anyone looking for a reliable plumbing company. My review is on the huge difference in pricing between companies, we didn't end up using them.

We had Cornel out to price a job for us - they quoted something around $850 and told us it could take 1-2 hours or less.

I had another company out today who fixed our problem for $380.

Pretty big difference.

And they charge $50 for coming to look at the issue - I've never had a good experience with companies that do that and wouldn't have minded but for something that was about 1-1.5 hour fix, minimal cost on parts (I know because I know what parts were needed and their cost)...I mean come on.

Needed a drain snaked for blockage in kitchen. Clean flow and 24 hours later clogged again. Cornel's came back to tell me that I needed $6000 in plumbing repairs to fix the problem. They were always professional in appearance and how they treated my home. 2 stars is related to overpricing work and not standing behind their 30-day warranty for work. It's clear their teams are commission based. Had repairs done by another reputable plumber for 1/3 the price. Asked them to honor their warranty but they would not because of an issue with grading the line, when in reality they never fully cleared the line to begin with. Hired another company to finish the work and hoping for a refund from Cornel's.

Cornel came out & installed a new kitchen sink & dishwasher. I observed the entire process. It took about 1.5 hours & was charged a fee that almost exceeded the price of the new dishwasher. Cornel is fast & friendly but VERY EXPENSIVE!!

I requested a quote from
Cornel to install new bathroom sinks & compared to Sherwood Plumbing
(SP). The quote from SP was 33% less than Cornel. I went with SP & was very satisfied with their service.

Bottom line: Cornel provided great service but expensive.

Cornel's has become my preferred choice for plumbing services. Most recently they strapped a water hearer for me, which required some extra work since it sat farther than normal from the wall. Previously they installed two bidets, which required some adjustments for nonstandard connection sizes. They are professional, knowledgeable, and fast. I highly recommend them.

Mario was SO HELPFUL. Here we are in the midst of the coronavirus crisis and our connection to the city water main busts at 1am. Mario helped arrange for the city to survey and mark where the water and gas lines were and referred us to Agent Leak Detection to precisely find where the leak originated. Then when his other emergency with a different client left him unable to make it today, he referred me to 3 Mountains Plumbing, who came out and fixed us up. I had a backed up sewer line that had to be replaced. It took them 3 weeks to schedule me in and I had no water during that time so I needed to stay somewhere else. They ended up not needing to do all the work they originally put in the estimate, but I had to call them to credit me for the work not done. And the cost was what I consider outrageous. I have a rental house in Southern California that incidentally had to have its sewer line replaced later in the same month and it was literally less than half the price.
I had called them before for a simple toilet back up and they were fine, but the big job wasn't a win.

Early one morning I awoke to the pleasant sound of running water. I like a quiet stream plenty, but coming from my the top of my water heater definitely wasn't good. I called Cornel's early, hoping to get a same-day appointment (I did).

Mario was clear in his instructions, easy to deal with, and really gracious. He,his dad Cornel, and Andre were able to arrive earlier than I expected but checked with me first. When the arrived we all discovered that the main water shut off valve was in my downstair's neighbor's apartment; my neighbor wasn't home, so there was no way to completely shut off the water. They managed to do the repair (rather than the replace Mario and I had anticipated) without having to shut off the main valve--not anyone's preference, but they made it work.

When they were done, they carefully explained to me how to handle any future issues (since that valve isn't easily accessible to me).

Overall, they did a great job. I would recommend them to anyone without hesitation.

We've been using Cornel's since 2019. The owner Cornel and his son Mario do great job. We've had all our sink faucets replaced and a new water heater that Cornel installed in March 2020. Then last year had them fix a leaky pipe in crawl space. This week Steve and Coleman did a great job on fixing our shower hot/cold knob and cartridge, replace two Toto toilets' fill calves and flappers. Nothing was easy but they took the time and fixed all our issues. They also fixed another leaking drainage pipe in crawl space. They are thorough, on time and do an excellent. I'll always go back to them for any plumbing issues.

Tony came out quickly, listened to what we thought we needed done, and gave us an estimate.

Edgar and Eddie followed, right on schedule. They listened to our questions and concerns, explained a couple of possible solutions to issues that had arisen between the estimate date and the service date, perfectly implemented the solution we chose, completed the work in exactly the amount of time they had predicted, demonstrated the success of their completed work, and left the work site tidy.

We had a clogged toilet. Cornel was so easy to deal with! First of all, Megan responded to my quote within minutes and we were able to have a conversation electronically about what needed to be done. I used their handy scheduling tool to get a technician to our house the next day. The technician called 15 mins prior to arrival and arrived on time. He followed COVID protocols, ensured the house was kept clean (had booties on) and wrapped a garbage bag around the snake that he used so it wouldn't drip all over the floor. He took care of the problem within minutes and even gave me an assessment on our toilet and that it may need to be replaced in a few years. Overall, one of the most positive experiences I've ever had with plumbing companies.

BUT HEY JUST A HEADS UP! - THESE PLUMBERS WILL NOT DO ANY WORK FOR CONDO'S - that have a floor above them or below them. I was advised by office staff that their insurance will not cover any work done for condo's in this type of setting. They will only work on your home if your condo is level and side by side. So if you have any units above you or below you.. forget these guys. I gave them a 4-star because I didn't have the pleasure to work with them so I can't rate their work. But they should advise this stipulation on their web-site.

From the moment I met these guys, there wasn't much not to like. And when Cornel, himself, came to my house and was on his hands and knees digging a hole to find out the cause of a problem (before he was hired!) I knew this was the man/team for the job. I recently purchased a home and from the inspection I knew there was a sewer issue. It was supposed to be a quick three-day job, but because of the city and the county playing hot potato as Edgar called it, it took much longer. But I can honestly say, the problem was fixed as quickly as they could. The team could not have been any nicer if they tried. And they stand by their word and their work. I sure hope I don't need to call them in the future, but I know EXACTLY where I'm going if I do! If you are looking for a fantastic company for sewer/plumbing issues, look no further. I made an appointment to fix a hissing sound that was continually coming from the toilet tank. Cornel called to tell me he was on his way, arrived on time, and quickly offered a solution after showing me the parts that needed to be replaced. He had all the parts he needed in his truck and efficiently installed everything & showed me the new parts that had been installed which did solve the problem we were having. He also fixed the plunger in one of our sinks. Before doing the repairs he provided a quote of what it would cost & the amount seemed reasonable. He also provided extra assistance which he did not charge us for such as realigning our toilet seat which kept shifting on us because we had not totally installed it properly and he took the time to show us where the shut off valve was to the house and how to turn it off in 2 places should we ever have an emergency. He was knowledgeable, friendly, efficient, helpful and we would use his company again.

We called Cornel after seeing that our drain pipe under our kitchen sink was leaking. Not only did he respond immediately, but was able to sneak us in between jobs on the same day that we called.

Cornel got in immediately underneath the sink to diagnose the problem ... and before I could go retrieve a new faucet to ask him if he would install it as well, he was already nearly done with the repair work!!! He didn't hesitate to include the faucet swap out which took him only a few extra minutes to complete.

Cornel knows his plumbing - does an excellent and clean job, and most of all, is a super nice & personable guy!!!

Cornel's Plumbing will be our go-to plumber from now on. We would highly recommend him to anyone!!!

I NEVER write reviews for anything but these guys are on point. Extremely knowledgeable, friendly and willing to answer all my questions. Came out to check on a leak, and then they explained in great detail why I did not have a leak. They were thorough when checking all areas of the house to confirm. They were also willing to check out a couple other areas of concern I had. They didn't try to take advantage or try to rush me. I felt like they explained things thoroughly until I fully understood. Two words: amazing service.

My garbage disposal went kaput on a recent Saturday evening. I went to Cornel's web site to request a quote. They emailed me later that evening (after 10pm) to see if we could start texting the following (Sunday) morning.

After texting back and forth throughout Sunday, I had an appointment made for Monday, AND guidance on a new disposal unit to purchase at Home Depot that way it'd be ready for them to install when they arrived.

Response time over text was never more than a couple minutes throughout the entire experience.

Top-notch communication and service. Didn't have to pawn anything to afford it. Highly recommended.

Awesome service! Last night I tried everything for 3 hours to unplug my kitchen sink (hot water, vinegar + baking soda, 8 ft snake, plunge, etc.). Never had a sink, toilet, or shower plugged that those wouldn't fix. Called today at 8am and was able to schedule for same day. Tony showed up by 11:45, listened to my speech, recommended snaking it out for $165, then got it done and had the sink draining basically within minutes. He ran down quite a ways with the power snake before hitting the blockage, maybe 30 ft or more, so no wonder I couldn't unplug it! Tony also recommended a bio-friendly product for reducing buildup in the pipes. Super glad I called Cornel's and will definitely call again next time I need plumbing help.

We had identified a water problem in our garage as being casued by a leaking drainpipe from the washing machine. Called Cornel's and they said they could have a plumber come out in two days to estimate and/or complete the repair. Estimate fee was $49 but could be applied to the repairs. Cornel's called back the following morning and said they could have a plumber come out that day, but I said just wait until the following day. Plumber arrived on schedule, confirmed the leak location but said a hole had to be cut in the wall to identify the actual location of the leak. Cost would be $249. We agreed. He cut the initial hole, then proceeded to extend the cut twice at no additional charge. Found hole in drainpipe and, after confirming in crawl space, indicated it was caused by a rodent(s). He could not repair the drainpipe at that time, but provided a lump-sum quote for a 2-man crew to do the repairs. Price wasn't cheap due to the hourly rate used in the quote, but agreed to repairs and scheduled it for following Monday. Crew showed up on schedule and completed the repairs. The 1st plumber and both the plumbers on the 2-man crew were very professional, personable and clean. No issues with the quality of work. responsiveness or personnel. Or drawback was the cost being higher than expected. Probably could have found someone cheaper.

Original interaction - I needed a plumber on short timeline to do an evaluation of a rental home we were renovating.+ They were able to come soon. Other plumbers had a 3 week wait. - After their visit, it took over 2 weeks and numerous calls and emails until they gave me their eval report. They called out a problem with water pressure and a steep fee to fix. We didn't. Two other plumbers and our inspection yielded no issue with the water pressure. Because their prices were high, I didn't use them at the beginning for some initial plumbing work. We did have to use them at the end of our renovation for a hydrojet clearing of sewer after it was flagged in inspection. The job was done poorly leaving tons of debris behind in the pipes and I ended up having to pay another sewer company to clear the debris as they were already working on the sewer to repair a gasket and the driveway was open and the debris more accessible. Cornel also bid for the sewer work and it was 3 times higher than the sewer company I chose to do the work. I'd recommend multiple bids because Cornel seems overpriced. On a positive, when I complained to Cornel, they agreed to refund me for the amount I spent to have another plumber clear the debris of their poor job. Positive - the office staff is professional.

In my nearly three years as a homeowner, I never had to hire a plumber until last week. I was able to get a same day appointment with Mario and he completed the work very quickly! I think it was a fairly easy fix as far as these things go and once he diagnosed the problem it was a flat rate. I didn't get a bid ahead of time, but I got a bid from another company and their hourly rate + parts to fix probably would've been around the same cost or more expensive.

We had an issue with our kitchen Instahot filter which caused a bit of flooding and I reached out to Cornel's Plumbing. They were able to come by a day earlier than we had anticipated which was wonderful. The individual came in and I explained that I will soon replace my instahot and filter within a week as soon as it arrives, however, I wanted to verify that the current setup would reroute water away from the instahot without any leaks or further flooding.

It was a quick assessment (10 min) and so I also asked if they could tighten my kitchen faucet. The individual then began to dismantle the faucet to tighten it, and stated how old it was (it's 9 years old so that may be relative) and how hesitant he was to work on an old faucet. We hadn't had any issues with the faucet I had just thought it might be loose.

The technician continued to talk about old faucets while putting it back together and recommended we replace the faucet. I made sure the faucet's flow and sprayer worked similarly well the way it worked before. The technician made his way to leave and suggested I contact Cornel's Plumbing once I had the instahot, filter, and new faucet and they could come by and install it. He said Just so you know, the installation will be $800. I couldn't believe it. I know that typically it doesn't take more than an hour to install both the instahot and faucet, so for him to frontload the price like that, I thought was unprofessional.

My wife and I also found out that the hot and cold water sides of the faucet they dismantled and put back together were switched.

I have tried to keep this review factual without editorial comment so I cannot recommend Cornel's based on my experience, but due to the comments, your experience may vary.

Our water heater went out and flooded our house. After 2 other plumbers came out and either couldn't help or gave an outrageous cast estimate we contacted Cornel. They had a quick response, identified the problem and scheduled an appointment. The next night it flooded a great deal and they came right away and the next day installed a new water heater. No change in estimate given even though it turned into an emergency and took extra time. Plumbers were polite and thoughtful and took good care of our home.

I requested a few quotes from yelp plumbing contractors. Cornel was one of the first to contact me. I requested a p,umber to remove and replace two shower faucets which were there since the late 90's. I quickly scheduled on the first day available which was only about a 4 day wait.
The owner Cornel arrived at my residence and replaced the two broken faucets innards with brand new parts. The end results ended to be faucets that looked brand new and worked as they did when newly installed. I watched a master craftsman at work. The prices were reasonable and work A+++++.

We had an issue with severely restricted water flow throughout our house. We tracked this down to something from the water main to the house, but didn't get much further. After swapping out a failing gate valve in the water supply line at the house, and digging up and replacing a buried pressure regulator near the water meter, we had no luck.

Alex from Cornel's Plumbing came out just a few days after we contacted them, and quickly determined the water flow from the meter was fine. He then bypassed the entire supply line with a hose to the house system, which demonstrated that our old line had a blockage. A brittle PVC line, some 5' deep and 35' long was not something we wanted to excavate. Alex quickly gave us a quote for a new line to be bored and installed, with the pressure regulator and house shutoff easily accessible under the house, another shutoff inside the meter box down stream from the meter, and an expansion tank added to the system (code requirement).

Their crew was out a week later, and in 6 hours had replumbed the service coming into the house, bored a new line from the meter to the house, and had everything ready for inspection. The price was as estimated, quite reasonable. We are very pleased with the service and craftsmanship.

We had a damaged frost-free spigot that was installed when the house was built in 1961 (think lead solder and galvanized pipe). Beyond my ability to replace. Called Cornel's on Friday afternoon and they scheduled the repair for Monday morning. Kudos to Justin for crawling under the house. He removed the old spigot and replaced it with flexible tubing and a new spigot that can be removed from outside the house if it ever needs to be repaired or replaced.

Cornel's came out to replace a main shutoff valve and an irrigation system backflow. Communication setting up the estimate and work was very smooth.

While digging they uncovered a hidden sprinkler head that was interfering with their work. They checked with me before hand on what I wanted to do. I appreciated that as they could have just removed it without telling me about it and I may never have known! I believe they even needed more parts than expected to re-route some pipes, but that extra cost was not pushed on to me.

In the end, its been a few weeks and everything is working as expected, back flow inspection was provided with the install and passed. The site looks pretty nice considering the excavation needed. Very pleased with how everything went.

I recently returned home from work to find my husband dealing with a leak in our garage. As this wasn't the first time we had experienced this leak, we knew it was the water heater. We called Cornel's and even though we called after hours, we were first on the list for a next day install of a new water heater.

While I didn't have the pleasure of meeting our installer, my husband did and he said Thomas was great. He arrived on time, was prepared to do the job and got right to work. He was also very personable. Thomas removed the wet dry wall, replaced the cracked pipe and located the issue with our water heater and installed a new one. The work product looks great and you would never know we had an issue!

This was our first experience using Cornel's Plumbing and I wouldn't think twice about calling on them again for our plumbing needs. I'd also have no problem referring them to others for their plumbing needs.

I had a hot water in my washing machine. Mario was quick to respond to my voicemail and rather than immediately scheduling me for a consult, he gave me some tips to help me pin down whether the issue was the plumbing or the appliance itself. After a few tests I was able to determine it was the appliance. So Mario SAVED ME MONEY! Based upon other Yelp reviews, I contacted Cornel's for an estimate for replacing a 28 year-old standard water heater that was apparently installed without proper venting. Unlike other plumbers that I talked to (who all tried to immediately step me up to top of the line options), Cornel's gave me several different ideas for both tankless and power vented tank units that would solve the venting issue. I opted for a power vented unit that was more than $1,000 less in price than any similar quote. The installation was handled quickly and efficiently and I couldn't be more pleased. Highly recommended!

I put out a request on Yelp to get estimates to replace a kitchen sink. I included Cornel's because of their existing 5 star reviews. They responded very quickly and came back with a very fair price compared to the other bids. Worked around our schedule and when they came to our house and removed the existing sink it turned out we had purchased the wrong one and it didn't fit in the cut out. It was completely our fault but they were very understanding and came back early the next morning to finish the job which was great. I couldn't have nicer things to say about this father and son team. Would give them six stars if I could. Professional, friendly, and do quality work.

Everyone we worked with at Cornel's Plumbing was fantastic! We recently purchased a house that needed a full re-pipe from the original plumbing and the guys at Cornel's made it a breeze. Thank you to Alex, Andre, Steve, Nate and Mario for all the coordination, time spent explaining things to my husband and I who had never gone through this process before, helping us with our crazy non-standard tub install that required multiple visits and adjustments as we figured out how to best install it in our not square room. Cornel's plumbing saved me today! Both my master bathroom sinks flooded the cabinet and everything in it. I called in frantically to get a plumber urgently since I was expecting a guest the next day. They were so accommodating and friendly. They had a cancellation and they called me back with an appointment. Vinnie was the technician who came over and he was so thorough. He tested several different scenarios and identified the root cause of the leak immediately. Everything was fixed quickly and resolved quickly. He is also very neat, didn't even make any mess. This is a ripoff plumbing company. If you have money lying around and don't know what to do then hire this company. They charged $350 to just unclog a bathroom sink. I was told it will take 1hr to complete the task but he finished it in 20 minutes. Stay away from this company.

This was the best plumbing experience I've ever had! I own a 1940's bungalow with a lot of galvanized pipe. After a major disaster and after getting fleeced by D & F I decided to get proactive on some pipe replacements. Mario and Andre were very honest with me in terms of what I needed and what I didn't. Ultimately they replaced my entire hot & cold into the kitchen. D & F had told me they'd have to rip out cabinets & dry wall to get the job done. Mario and Andre simply rerouted around the old galvanized. It looks and works great. The bathroom faucet was leaky and had no pressure so they flushed the line and advised me to get a new faucet. They drove to Home Depot and called to give me choices, picked the best one for my bathroom (more expensive than the one I chose) and then gave me a $20 discount. Overall price was excellent, service was excellent and will definitely call them first for all my future needs.

Came home to find a water leak at the meter and promptly shut the water off. Called around and got a few canned responses (e.g. We can be out a week from now and we charge x per hour-like responses), but Cornel's replied within 5 minutes at 6:30 p.m., scheduled me for the next morning (Tuesday) and then got the service scheduled for Wednesday. Very impressive timing, and a great price as well compared to what others quoted.

Another satisfied customer. Quick appointment to fix a loose toilet. Cornel (that's his first name) came, discussed the possible repair with their cost before starting. He then went to work and quickly assessed the problem as being on the lower end of the estimates. He told me what he was doing, and checked for any other damage from the leak. Our water heater burst early in the morning. I reached out to several plumbers for help. Using Yelp reviews to help decide on who I called. Cornel's Plumbing was rated very high on Yelp and were the first to respond. Some with higher rating did not even respond. Very pleased with the service received. I definitely recommend. Trust me, need to look elsewhere.

11/18/19 - called them for a drain issue I couldn't unclog for a few days. They fit me in same day and took care of the issue right away. Before they arrived I received a text message with a picture of who will be arriving and a brief bio on the person. Super cool and immediately put me at ease knowing who I could expect to arrive. The underground gutter drain at one of my gutters was clogged and overflowing - I removed the gutter downspout and tried to clear the blockage myself with a cheap gutter snake I had on hand but no luck. Cornel's was able to get out in one day and jetted the gutter drain from the back of my house to the curb outlet and cleared a huge root ball clogging the drain exit by the curb. Luckily, the drain pipe was not damaged as the root ball was starting to grow into the pipe from the exit point.
Tony the tech who showed up was awesome! He was quick, efficient and kept me in the loop as to his progress on the drain. (Thanks brah!)

I amused (and slightly horrified) Cornel with the challenge of a toilet clogged by a fish head (a deceased aquarium fish -- don't ask). They would have sent out a technician the very next morning but I failed to notice the text in time. When the tech did come out he was friendly, funny, sympathetic, and handled the problem in a minute or two. And the price was perfectly reasonable. Glad I stumbled upon this company!

We had toilet waste coming up into the bathtub and bathroom drain. I tried to snake it myself and had no idea what I was doing, I got poo water everywhere. I found Cornel's Plumbing the next day on Angi and I asked for a quote. Super friendly Jenney was the first to call (within about 2 minutes) and she sent Joshua to my house within an hour. Joshua was super nice, very professional, fixed my problem within half an hour and charged very little, all while we chatted about our awesome kids and about how much he liked working for Cornel's. This was so worth it I wish I would have just called them without trying to use the snake myself. I'm calling Cornel's Plumbing the next time right away.

Can't give these guys enough stars! Cornel's Plumbers are proper plumbers, not your regular washer changers. I wanted to install a freestanding bathtub in our concrete basement, and add a dishwasher and sink in the new kitchenette. We needed to relocate the washout in the basement and the basement drain, they walked me through the process and saved me money by suggesting I cut the concrete and get to the drain line. I'm pretty handy so it wasn't a big deal. They walked me through the process and were extremely helpful with their professional suggestions and options. They pulled the permits, did the work and got the permits approved. Top notch service and professionalism. I'll never call another plumber again. Thank you Cornel's for bailing me out. 5 stars isn't enough.

CORNEL'S=INTEGRITY. I recently had a HUGE job done- Interior and exterior sewer and water supply lines replaced (scoping showed problems in the 80 yr old piping). It was a two week job. From Megan, the scheduler, to the 10 employees that worked on the job, it was nothing but positive. Josh did a thorough and thoughtful job inspecting, scoping and answering all of my questions. Edgar, Freddie and Eddie did the exterior digging and pipe replacement - positive energy even at the tough moments. Cain was the main plumber and worked diligently also answering any questions. The whole crew was respectful. Even the folks they contracted with to do the replacement of interior cement work were excellent.

Cornel's is one of those special businesses where the employees care, are respectful and personable. They are the type of people I'd want to invite over for a backyard bbq! Thank you Cornel's!!!

I just had the best experience today with Tony at Cornel's Plumbing, that it warranted me writing my first yelp review. I had a sewage backup happening at my rental house in Portland, and wasn't sure what was going on. They sent Tony out the very next day to check it out, and he was very upfront and honest about costs and options. When he did the camera scope, he found that there was a blockage on the city's side of the sewer, and he handled everything for me from there on out. He called the city for me, stayed at my house until they got there, and had them scheduled to fix it the next day. He even went the extra mile and provided a phone number I could call to submit a claim for any costs incurred by me since it was the city's problem. He also had a restoration company come out and help clean it up. I am BEYOND IMPRESSED with the services provided, and so happy to finally work with an honest, efficient, helpful company. I had a clogged kitchen drain and was quoted a price for drain cleaning that included scoping and 60 day guarantee. Very helpful, responsive people. Guy came out and cleaned drain, but when I asked about scope, he said price didn't include that. I showed him email with scope included in price. He said he didn't have equipment on his truck. So I spoke with receptionist who sent email. Fine, no scope, I'll take some $ back. If we go that route she says, no 60 day guarantee. Ok, so I schedule scope. Guy comes out a week later, says can't do scope because of right angle in pipe. Ok, no scope, I'll take some $ back. But I haven't heard back from them. I don't want to call again. Quit making me work to get out of you what you quoted. You set the price and what I'd get for that. They should be calling me back and giving me partial refund. I'm posting here because while everyone was nice and whatever, I was quoted a price for cleaning, scope and 60 day guarantee and that's not what I got and they've wasted about 90 minutes of time with this. Is my 60 day guarantee now garbage too? Don't act like left hand doesn't know what right is doing and then it's my job to do more work to get what I paid for or try to get partial refund. Get it together people.

UPDATE - They called within seconds of my posting this and sent the appropriate partial refund. People were always nice. I think the work was good (drain is draining). And they did what they should have done. I get it. I'm covid exhausted too. It's just really hard getting people to do what they say they'll do these days and somehow it feels like the burden has shifted to the customer and that's not right. It was a hassle but I'll probably give them another try if I need plumbing in the future. So thanks for the refund Cornel's. Namaste.

I'm not a plumber by any means but they seem to do great work and are very professional. Plus they have a decent warranty.
However, they are by far the most expensive plumber I have worked with. They have a show up and give an estimate model, but in my experience their typical rate seems to hover around $600 an hour, which blows my mind. Not to mention the dispatch fee which of course is charged if you decline the service.
I'll continue working with them for larger projects for peace of mind, but for simple things I'd save your money. Everyday plumbing jobs are not that complicated.

Wow! I just want to thank Cornel for doing an amazing job installing my garbage disposal!!!! I made the appointment they showed up right on time, did everything they said they were going to do. It was a seamless process. I am extremely impressed by the quality and efficiency of the service they provided . I know this was just a simple garbage disposal install but due to my deep sink The install was a bit more involved. Everything went as expected I couldn't be any happier. Don't hesitate on either calling them or sending them a text through yelp. They got back to me extremely quick. He showed up and did the work and left like they were never here. My wife and I are going to be doing some remodeling this summer and we will make sure to call them for their service again.

I needed a quick fix for a leaking tub/shower diverter spout. I did my research and purchased genuine replacement parts in advance. Next I called multiple businesses and some of them were booked for 2 weeks ahead while others had too high hourly prices. I texted Cornel's phone number (it's a mobile number) and they scheduled the repair for the next morning for inexpensive fixed price. Mario was very professional and friendly. He quickly replaced leaking spout, checked other parts of the shower valve and accurately applied clear caulking, so it's almost invisible. Next time I know who to call right away for plumbing work!

This is an awesome service! We had a sewer pipe break. I called 3 plumbing firms. The first two calls went to voicemail. When I called Cornel's Plumbing Megan answered, took down the details and arranged an appointment. Tony came out and identified a disposable wipe (BTW - DO NOT THROW THESE DOWN THE DRAIN! ) tangled in tree roots which dislodged the sewer pipe. He provided a solid quote to repair the pipe and made an appointment for the following morning. Edgar and Jordan arrived as scheduled and replaced the line of pipe. To honor the quote (and to not extend the scope of work into the crawlspace) they went to the supply store and purchased a tool to install the pipe at their expense. Once repaired they reapplied the landscaping and, it is amazing, but you cannot even tell that they were there. Tony then followed up and did a courtesy sewer flush to the street and confirmed via a video link that the sewer line was clean and without issue.

This is truly great service! Everyone was friendly, helpful and proud of the small business that they worked for. Very professional! And I even received a senior discount! If I ever do have a plumbing need I now know who to call in the future! Thank you!

I had an amazing experience over the last two weeks with Cornell. We had the water company notify us of a possible leak. I got two bids for the project. Cornell was professional and took time to get in the ground and look at the problem.

From a cost stance, they were almost 30% less than their competitor. From a quality I would argue they are 100% better.

Steve and Andre came out and looked at everything and ended up with a solution that was thousands less than my other bid.

They even came in to look at my overall plumbing and said we don't need anything. They have a customer with ZERO knowledge and a basically open checkbook and they provided honest and thoughtful consultations.

Let me stress my bid was almost $4,000 from them originally ($2000 less than Roth) and they ended up finding a solution at less than half their original bid. They are our plumbers for life now!

Cornel's came out to assist in a house being sold (I had already moved). I had 2 leaks to take care of and was floored at the customer service he and his son provided. I grew up with customer service being a priority and they knocked it out of the park!

Cornel arrived on-time (even before me since I was running late) and quickly got to work under the house to figure out the issues. He took video of both leaks for me so I could see for myself instead of taking a strangers word for it.

He quickly fixed the first leak by cleaning some threads and putting everything back together again. The second leak was more complicated. I had a jetted tub that had a smaller leak in an area he couldn't get to. I ended up needing to call a tile company to open up a hatch for him.

After he came back out, I was back in my home state and he called to talk with me about the leak. Within a minute, we were face-timing each other so I could see the leak for myself and he described how to fix it and the rough cost. It's amazing how a small plastic part could cause so much of an issue.

Mario handled all the office stuff for our situation (billing, invoices, etc) and was awesome to work with. I just had to give my name and he knew what was going on. He passed info info back an forth to his dad, like address and issues along with a lock-box codes to get into the house since I wasn't there the second time. There was never really any miscommunication or such. I'm a remote-worker as well, so an option to use txt to communicate helped me a great deal.

These guys are top-notch. If I owned any other property in Portland, they'd be my go-to plumbers. Since the plumbing scene is so crazy there right now, ask if they can fit you in. I managed to sneak in twice in two weeks when they figured they were booked solid.

I'm MORE than impressed with this business and the guys running it. This is how I would run my own company.

As my water heater poured water into my downstairs 30 min before I left on vacation, a sense of dread almost ruined my trip. I came on yelp and used the request quote feature to get some bids. I appreciated the timeliness of response from Cornel's, as well as their flat pricing approach (rather than the $x/hr, plus parts quotes of many others). They were able to come out right away and I was immediately impressed by Mario. He explained everything that was going on, the differences between my old heater and the new, and helped guide me through any decisions I had to make on the set up. He was thorough, polite, and well spoken. He even made it a point to show me a potentially costly leak I wasn't aware of near the main. Home repairs are expensive no matter what, and I appreciate the professionalism and service that Cornel's provided for my money. Would absolutely recommend them.

We just moved here from Colorado in December and we were super bummed that our water heater decided to leak (& on a Friday afternoon, of all times). After doing some searching on Yelp, we came across Cornel's Plumbing. I messaged them via Yelp Friday evening and was pleasantly surprised that they responded, even though it was after business hours. Within minutes, they had a quote for us (which I'll go into next) and an appointment time! During the weekend, we had a couple of questions and we messaged them again, expecting no response until Monday, but once again they surprised us by replying. Their commitment to responding, even after business hours and on weekends, shows that they are doing their best to gain new clients as well as keep current clients (I'm not condoning that messaging 24/7 is an awesome thing to do but it does put the mind at ease when there are immediate answers).

Cornel's quote, by far, was the most reasonable one we received. We messaged two other competitors, with one coming back at almost $3000 and one stating they charge by the hour (approximately $1200/hour) without the cost of materials - yikes! Cornel's quote included the cost of a new water heater, installation, disposal of the old water heater, an expansion tank, a new pan, new copper fittings, re-straping, igniting the pilot light, setting the temperature to 120 degrees and cleanup. Needless to say, quite a bit to do!

Cornel and Mario are a father-son team and are extremely prompt, professional and personable. Even our Border Collie, who generally doesn't like it when repair/handy people come over, likes them (which I feel like it says a lot). I asked for them to show up at any time after 12pm and was told that they had an opening from 1pm-230pm but that they would message if they were able to come before 1pm. At about 12pm on the day of, I received a message stating that they were on their way and at about 1220pm, we were introducing each other and they got started! A couple of hours later, while Cornel cleaned up and made some last minute adjustments, Mario and I walked through the house, turning on the water faucets to ensure that there was hot water and that there were no air pockets coming through the pipes.

Like I said earlier, Cornel's Plumbing consists of a father-son team and is definitely a small business, which our family likes to support as much as possible. If you're like us, please give these guys a call and I'm sure they will provide you with outstanding service!

The other five-star ratings aren't fluff by any means. Cornel's delivers above and beyond.

The Man himself, Cornel, arrived at my house on the early side. Extremely courteous, and professional throughout. What started as a mere series of hoses to be replaced led to a discussion, of which I had some original concerns about (the connectors out of the wall.) Cornel left it up to me, but suggested replacement for ease of use.

He was efficient, effective, EXCEPTIONALLY reasonable, and in the end? He resolved the original request, and while doing some additional work? He SOLVED two problems that had plagued these sinks for the two and a half years I've lived in this house.

This could have easily cost me double had I gone with someone else. And he was done quickly.

Very friendly service (wearing a mask!) and listened carefully to our plumbing issues. Fast, but not too fast. Explained everything, and presented us with options for resolutions so we were never surprised by what he was doing or what we should expect. Our issues were not major, but to us, it was nice to have a competent worker take care of everything to our satisfaction so that we had absolutely no worries when he left. I called in for water service to fix the leakage and pressure regulator problem on Aug 11. Later on, also replaced the water heater. Justin was very prompt to be at my house to assess the situation and gave me the quotation. He was very professional to give me all the insights and options. I was very impressed with him, and information received. Shortly after, the work was scheduled in very timely manner. The crew executed the job within a day for water service work and 1/2 day for water heater replacement. Alex and crew have done an excellent job and very informative to share the work being done with me both verbally and via emails and pictures. Megan in the back office is also a great help coordinating and I felt very comfortable and rely on her a lot for any adjustment.

After a disastrous experience with Roto-Rooter, I looked for a reliable plumbing company to fix a sewer line failure on my property. I got bids from three other companies (not Roto-Rooter), all of them impressive. However, the person doing the estimate, Joshua, impressed me the most with his knowledge and competence. He sent an excellent team to do the excavation work and sewer line replacement. Edgar, Freddy and Jordan were amazing. Not only did they provide great customer service to me, they interacted with my neighbors in a friendly and professional way. They also, as part of the total job, finished some concrete work that Roto-Rooter started. (Roto-Rooter would not commit to a date to finish the work.) Cornel's didn't have to do it, but they didn't like to see unfinished work. I cannot recommend Cornel's enough.
