Had a great experience with Green Box Mechanical. Electrician Jeremy installed an electric vehicle charger. We live in a 1926 home with a finished basement which made for a tricky wiring path to the exterior of our house. Jeremy was very thoughtful in his approach and in the end only opened up a small and discreet piece of sheetrock. Jeremy was excellent at explaining modifiers needed in our panel to accommodate the EV Charger and he also helped me puzzle out an unrelated challenge we have been having with an outlet. Great service, punctual and good communication throughout.

Price gouging contractor. They sent out a Journeyman Plumber for 8 hours work roughing in a shower and bathtub drain. Plumber did a fine job. The cost including payroll taxes for the plumber is $100 (+ or - $5) per hour, so $800 for the day. They charged $2827.00 for the job.
I most certainly will never use this contractor again.

Rep was very professional but not the person we were told would be coming for estimate. We were quick to see that there was not much interest in our small projects and admitted that Green Box was expensive. Rep suggested we use another web site to find an electrician and said many electricians did not want to work for homeowners and preferred to be subcontractors. Well, I think it was obvious on our initial phone call who we were and what we wanted. Late this evening and still no bid but a good sense of the waste of time it was to have Green Box come for an estimate!
I hired them to do a shower valve replacement. The installer came over and while removing the valve, broke the pipe. He said it is cvpc pipe and is weak and gets brittle. Nevertheless, they cut two holes in two different closets to access the broken pipe in order to cap it. He didn't finish the job that day. They called to come back to fix the job the next day and we would pay a total of around $947. We told them we didn't want to do that as we thought the price was too high (the original quote to replace the valve was for $335). The next week, they sent a bill for $587 for a shower that doesn't work and two holes in two separate closets that we now have to pay for.
The shower still isn't working after two weeks and today they told us we are looking to have work done for free as we were asking them to come back and fix the pipe they broke and replace the shower valve for $335. Needless to say, we will not be wanting to have them work on our plumbing again.

I had two bathroom fans and a ceiling fan installed. The fans are super quiet and the ceiling fan brings the added cooling to our bedroom. I thought I would love this company, but I have some reservations. They are reliable and even though the price was higher than I expected I also understand the cost of labor is expensive. I don't want to publicize my concerns, but I felt a little concerned at time and that may be just my personality.
We needed a new doorbell system and fan/light boxes installed in our old plaster ceilings after the owners who flipped our house failed to do so. Scott Crooke came out and took care of all the problems in a very professional manner and relieved a lot of stress for us. This was not the first time he has come out and done work for us; it won't be the last: such a great company and excellent service. I'll always recommend Green Box. In fact, they are coming out this week to look at some plumbing.
A quick warning to anyone looking to use this company for any services. This company makes it policy to bilk its customers. I had a simple electrical issue that required attention. So simple that it was literally accessed and solved simultaneously with the push of a single button. The technician came to my house (very polite and professional) and I described my problem to him. Immediately after describing the problem, before looking at anything or doing anything or even vocally speculating on what may be the issue, he advised me that I would be charged a $335 flat rate for anything that gets solved within the first hour. That made me hesitate and inquire about what further charges might be, but seeing as I had no idea what the issue was or might entail, I grudgingly agreed. Immediately after consenting, he walks directly to one of the problem outlets (one with the test and reset buttons), presses the reset button, and voila, problem solved. That means the technician knew or at least suspected what the problem and solution were before getting me to agree to pay, and and that cost me $335. I called the next day to complain and was dismissed out of hand, being told that it was just company policy and people complained about it all the time. Perhaps it's just me, but if I have a policy that gets constant complaints from my customers, I'd think about changing it. This is apparently a fairly large company, which is going be able to give you the convenience of speedy service appointments, but you will pay a premium for it, and the company will always come before the customer.
I had some electrical work done by electrician Efrain. He was so nice so polite and answered all my questions. Cleaned up after himself and made it look like it was part of the original build of our home. Thank you so much Efrain.
Jackson Vargas is the best! I contacted several plumbers in the Portland area before going with Jackson. He came highly recommended. He is extremely knowledgeable. In fact he was trained by Toto to install their toilets. He advised me of issues that might arise during the installation and cleared them one by one. My bathroom was spotless when he left. He's your guy, especially if you're going to invest in a Toto toilet.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!
I had an emergency today during the Covid pandemic, where I needed a simple rewire. Not only was the guy rude and not understanding simple answers to his questions but when I asked for the approximate cost he got irate and said he wanted to pass on the job because I wasn't listening to him. In common conversations and courteousness a person asks a question and the other person answers. I did not appreciate him trying to mansplain his way through a very simple problem then refusing to give me an estimate!
Use these guys at your own peril!! They will also be reported to Home Advisor.
I needed ceiling fans installed as well as a unique clothes drying rack suspended from the ceiling and these guys came and did a phenomenal job handling unexpected challenges. Everything was done perfectly in the end. They were conscientious and professional.

The response states We first sent you an invoice for a deposit and you requested the contract before you would send the deposit. In my experience a contract stating the scope and nature of work to be performed is agreed to then the deposit is made. A list of parts at inflated prices is not a contract nor does it describe the scope of the work to be performed. Asking for a deposit before providing a contractual agreement seems like an unusual business practice. My original review is accurate but your response is not. I have since had the work completed by a competitor who provided a contractual agreement, accepted a deposit and did an exceptional job in that order and I could not be happier.
We called for an electrician to install the connector for our Tesla. They responded immediately and we're here at the agreed time. They are very courteous and professional. The job was done on time and for the agreed price. Highly recommend this company.
Definitely make sure you get a quote from these guys before service. Mike charged us $200 as a troubleshooting fee for a simple electrical fix. He said if the client doesn't know what the problem is, he charges $200 no matter how simple the problem is. Will not be using this company again.

They use an answering service which in itself isn't necessarily bad, but they didn't return my call for days.
None of the other companies I called were this bad.

I used yelp to get a few quotes and Green Box just made the process easy. Sarah always answered the phone, which was refreshing (most electrical outfits you are always leaving messages.)
They were able to have Mike come out next day (instead of booking something weeks out). He figured out the problem in just a few minutes. Will definitely use Green Box again.

I was contacted by General Manager Mike Llewelyn after searching for a plumber on Angies List. We made an appointment for Friday at 1:30 pm to have a faulty exterior faucet diagnosed and possibly repaired. I called Friday at noon to confirm our time and was assured my plumber Justin Walters would be on time.
At 1:00 pm Justin called to inform me he would be 1 hour late and that once he arrived he would be staying for only 15 min. When i advised Justin that is not the arrangement I had made with Mike i was told to try hitting it with a hammer and was hung up on. A follow up call to Mike resulted in an offer to reschedule for a later date.
Due to my involvement with Greenbox Mechanical I am out 1 vacation day and still looking for a plumber.
Okay, so let me start by saying if you need a fix for something easy and are not in a hurry - these guys are great - in the past I used them with no issued for very small jobs. However, if you need anything at all complex or are on a timeline DO NOT USE THEM. They held up my house closing, I had to call back a bajillion times to get guys out 2 or 3 times for things that should have been done day 1 despite being very clear on my timeline from the beginning. Everyone there tried to pass the buck to someone else. The plumber said he could not do the job I needed and told my buyers it could be a $15,000 fix (wow thanks for that). Had another plumber come - said it was easy and would be about $600.
Marcus, the HVAC technician sent out, was early and very thorough. The issue I had needs corrected by NW Natural, Marcus was very thorough in explaining why and giving me the information I needed to help correct the issue. He also explained, very thoroughly, what I would need to do after NW Natural comes by. I appreciated his candor and thoughtfulness.

Our new-construction home with A/C wasn't able to keep the 2nd floor cool on these recent 95º+ days. Michael came out for a visit on short notice and was awesome.
I came into it thinking we'd need to install a new upstairs furnace or a mini-split ($$$$) and instead Michael explained how our current system worked and how to properly tune it for efficient cooling. We closed the furnace dampers leading to basement and 1st floor, and set the fan to run all day to circulate air through the house. This made a huge difference and now we can get through these heat waves with just our house AC - no additional equipment or even window units needed.
Very grateful that Green Box didn't try and sell us something we didn't need! I will definitely be reaching out again next time we need anything.
Love these guys. Had them come out back in April to fix a faulty outlet and install a bathroom light fixture. Very reasonably priced. Then just had them come out to install some recessed lighting in our kitchen. Steve gave us the estimate then recommended a less expensive option that was even better. Got the 5 lights installed in less than 2 hours, plus he threw in a dimmer switch for free. This is a great company!!
It's nice when someone can renew your feeling of trust in your fellow man. Justin came to us because I spent $466 to stop a leak in the kitchen and a clog in the bathroom. The horrible man unclogged the drain and left me with a leak in the bathroom.
Justin, from GreenBox, fixed the problem in the bathroom sink and the other poor workmanship in the kitchen. The work looks good and everything is clean. I really appreciate hard working people who care about the quality of their work. Thanks Justin. Thanks Green Box for hiring him.

There is not enough stars to articulate my satisfaction and experience with Green Box Mechanical. I called for a service call and they had a tech out to my home the very next day. My air conditioning unit was not functioning. I had inquired with another HVAC company and their resolution was to replace the unit. Which would have resulted in a $5000 expense. Green Box looked at the unit and determined their was a faulty part. The replacement plus service call was $350. Green box was honest and transparent in their service and repair. I would highly recommend them.
Brian, the genius plumber, and the company did a wonderful job fixing our water pipes coming from the city.
The pipes had cracks due to a tree root growing nearby the main water pipes.
Brian was very good at explaining to me what caused the water leak.
He even showed me cracks in the pipes.
He took time to do a through work and didn't mind my questions.
The price is reasonable and the service was very timely.
I would recommend them to anyone who needs plumbing work.
This review is for the electrical arm of Greenbox. We hired Greenbox to replace knob-and-tube electrical in most of our house and install some extra ceiling lights.
They said it would take 1 week, but the job took 4 weeks with many frustrating conversations. The process was rough -- they drilled into a water line, flooding our basement. They installed the light switches behind the doors. They scratched up our floors. They left us without hot water overnight. We had only one working outlet on the main floor for two weeks.
Eventually, 95% of the job they'd quoted was finished and we thought the drywall carnage they left behind was normal, but every drywall repair contractor we've had out to quote has had some variation on: What happened!?
They used the hole saw freely, leaving exactly 63 perfectly round 4 holes all over our house. Several new outlets that they installed have gaps around the sides of the faceplate, which is concerning as that's quite a standard size. Others are crooked. There are giant holes around several light switches. Frankly, this is our first large electrical project and I thought this might just be normal, but I've been assured by handymen, contractors, electricians, and friends that this is not the case.
We had a couple of isolated electrical issues. Mike of Green Box was able to schedule an electrician the day after we called. Jeff fixed the problems quickly and easily. We greatly appreciate the excellent service.
We needed a few things done around the house, and the installation of 2 new outdoor security lights to ward off the freak show that occasionally loiters around our cross streets. We requested quotes from a few of the top rated electricians here and within the week that greenbox was the best of the bunch based on the expert assessment, quick and friendly services, and also reasonably priced.
Eric Shockley (Great name for an electrician! -- Seriously) was both our estimator and service person. Scheduling was easy, and within another week, we had our repairs repaired, all our questions answered, and two very bright LED outdoor security lights. Installation was fast and professional and I would definitely recommend this team of fine folks for your needs.
My needs:
- troubleshoot bad switch in bathroom
- install light fixtures
- install ceiling fan and accessories
Time constraints: within the next 8 days
Other service providers were on holiday schedules. GBM got back to me in a matter of hours and set up an appt at my desired date & time.
Greg M showed up promptly at 8AM and quickly gave me a clear estimate of the work required and costs involved. He started and finished the job on the same day. I am very pleased with his efforts.
After this positive experience, I will definitely be looking to use GBM for other services (i.e., plumbing and HVAC).

I kind of expected that Green Box would reach out to me after my previous review and offer either an apology or a refund, but I never heard anything. No big deal, I suppose, but this kind of cements my point of view that this wasn't the right vendor to use.
A little costlier than expected but the prompt reply to need of service, good communications, on-time arrival and excellent quality of work performed (Thanks Sue!) more than make up for any price differential.
Happy to report Green Box will be my 'go-to' company for electrician services.

The problem was a simple fix, just a burnt out electrical outlet. I was told over the phone it would be 140 and outlet, which seemed reasonable. The electrician wanted to do a whole diagnostic test and couldn't find anything-which I didn't exactly authorize. That whole thing took about 50 minutes because she had to go through a crawl space and everything.
The problem ended up being a simple, fried outlet, which I heard is pretty simple to replace. She replaced it in less than 10 min but charged for the entire hour ($275). The diagnostic test showed nothing else was wrong. Well, it was more like she spent her time looking for some wires that were no where to be found. So I am not sure that was a diagnostic test. I was kinda upset because if she just looked at the burnt outlet in the first place then it would have been $140. We knew what the problem was, we did not need the test. The outlet works fine now, but I wish she just looked at that first before looking for problems that didn't exist. Look for the easiest solution first... Occums razor.
I wouldn't go with this company again, but they were the only ones available at the time in need.
I was having my basement walls framed by a different company and I needed to move pipes to get it done. I hired Greenbox Mechanical to Replace plumbing that is not to code in basement. Move drain line for new supporting wall (as written in the quote/contract). This also included permit and inspection by the city. The quote was over 6500 which I thought was very high but it looked like they had good reviews and I just wanted to get it done (I won't make that mistake again). Greenbox started the job on November 8th. On the 9th, the plumber called me from his car and I could barely hear him but he said something about a leak that he admitted to causing while working, but he blamed it on old plumbing, etc. and he will need to come back on the 20th. Right when I heard the word leak, I asked for it in writing and I asked why I have to wait until the 20th when there is a leak and he just said something about scheduling. I said again, please email me everything that you did and will be doing, and he said ok. I emailed 3 times and called their office twice until they finally emailed me on the 19th (ELEVEN days later and ONE day prior to when the plumber would supposedly show up). Also, during this time, the other company that was framing my walls told me the pipes were not placed in the right spot for them to continue their work.
Greenbox quoted me $275 for a diagnosis, but they would have to open up the walls and I would need to pay for fixing the drywall. This would help see what would need to be done to fix the leak and fix plumbing. I reluctantly agreed because he also needed them to come and move the pipes further away from the wall in the basement. The plumber did show up and moved the pipes and left two giant holes in my wall as promised. Later that night, he emailed me a quote asking for $12850 more to fix the plumbing to pass the city inspection. I am not sure in what world it costs 20k to fix plumbing on a 1500 sq/ft 3 bed, 2 bath house. To recap, my plumbing used to work just fine and I didn't have any leaks. Now I have a leak, holes in my wall, and my toilet three times every time I flush it. Thanks Greenbox!
Bob was rude from the get-go. He was obviously grouchy about something when he showed up. He had a bad attitude and was unprofessional about the problem we were having. Didn't want to help us because we had to shut the water off in the building. We got approval from the building manager to do so while bob was on-site and and said he would charge us an additional $200 to shut the water off. We decided not to do it because it was expensive and he didn't seem to be interested in helping us anyway. He left with a sour taste after 10 minutes.
I would not ever use or recommend this company to anyone. I had an incredibly unpleasant experience dealing with Mike. Firstly, I should say that our landlord was the one who had us deal with green box mechanical for our heater issue, and I probably would've gone with someone else anyway, after reading the reviews on yelp. They sent out Micheal yesterday, who was a good guy and knew his stuff, but he wasn't the right tech for the job...they probably would've sent out the right tech if Mike had actually listened to what I had said in the first place. I told him that my kid naps from 1pm-3pm and could he work around that. Anyway, after having me measure the heaters, being incredibly curt in our back and forth, where he asked me (through TEXT) the same simple question over and over, dude, just read the text, I literally just sent you the answer to that question 5 minutes ago. (of course I didn't actually send that, but I think most people would have thought I was totally reasonable in doing that.). After all that, he texts me and says we have tomorrow or Friday at 1pm. wowzers. I texted back politely, well, my kid naps at 1pm-3pm, can you send me other times you have available? He texts back you seem to have an issue with every time I give you. We are going to pass and I'll inform your landlord to go with someone else. Okaaaay, you really think I care that you're going to inform my landlord to go with someone else??? I just want our heaters working. I will tell EVERYONE I know not to do business with this ignoramus, and if I can spare even one person here on yelp a frustrating pointless morning having to deal with Mike, then it will be worth the extra I've taken to write this review.

I URGE you to not use this company for your electrical or plumbing needs. Our contractor brought this company in to do the work on our bathroom and kitchen and we are SO disappointed in their work and professional behavior.
1. The electrical work in our bathroom was pretty minor. Move 1 electrical outlet, place 2 sconces and make our outlet a 220V vs. 120V for our new gas range. Firstly, when he came to do the work he said some pretty misogynistic & concerning personal things. Not only did he make ME super uncomfortable, but his fellow plumber and my contractor were thoroughly disgusted by his commentary. Worse than his demeanor, the job he did was wrong...twice. First, he hooked up the sconces incorrectly so that you had to turn on 2 light switches at a time to get them to turn on. Second, he changed the 220V outlet to what LOOKED like a 120V outlet, but when we put the electronic meter in it, it was still running 220v. It could have COMPLETELY destroyed our new stove. Thankfully, they did send someone else out to fix it who confirmed his work was wrong and re-did the work quickly and efficiently. Our contractor continually told them about his erratic behavior and poor craftsmanship and Greenbox just defended him saying there had been no other complaints.
2. Our plumber was very nice, but did subpar work. When he noticed our pipes were old galvanized pipes, he recommended additional work to go further back than originally intended in our shower. We appreciated his advice and the charge was extra to re-do our shower drain line which we were fine with. However, we noticed he went only halfway back - not all the way to the connection. (Our new plumber said this was just lazy work - he also used the wrong turn in the shower drain which our new plumber said we were lucky to pass inspection with) He also took the sink line and made 2 new connections for our vanity as we now had 2 faucets. However, after all the tile work was done and my contractor went to hook it up, one of the hot water faucets didn't work. When he came back to fix it, he told us it was our fault for not getting that section of galvanized pipes fixed. He never suggested that when he was working on the sink, and said he'd need to either rip out all the tile, or enter from the other side to fix it. I was so TIRED of Greenbox at this point, that I told him to just tie the hot water off of one line so I could be done with them. Before he left, he suggested we re-pipe the whole house and that it would cost anywhere from 15-20k. When I called in a different plumber (Pipeline plumbing who was a PLEASURE to work with) - they re-piped the entire house for us for a fraction of that price and even FIXED all of the work that was done in the bathroom incorrectly in the first place.
It's one thing to be unhappy with the work, but the extremely unprofessional behavior with the electrician was abhorrent. What makes it worse, is they continually tried to send him out to us (we demanded a different electrician for that 220 mistake) and took no actions to speak with him about his actions.
Do yourself a favor and choose someone else for your plumbing and electrical needs.

Initially the consult was good and I was optimistic that I'd found a company who could complete my project. I just needed someone to finish the venting for our spa heater. They initially said that it should be no problem to vent this horizontally but I told them per the specifications the vent pipe must be double walled stainless steel. Expensive but I didn't care, I just wanted the job to be done. Michael said he would have to research, fair enough. Additionally I put him in contact with reps from hayward, who are the makers of the heater. I haven't heard back. As with many contractors in Portland they indicated just how busy they were. Please take some advice, stop telling your clients how busy you are, it's not comforting and not a good excuse. If you cant do the job than tell me.
Regardless after ordering many different pieces from ventingpipe.com I was able to finally complete this myself. I suppose I should thank you for encouraging me to learn and do it myself.
Overpriced and they use subcontractors best to go with direct specialists. Received a few quotes from them on projects and they always come in the highest no more how simplistic the work. Make sure you get multiple quotes from contractors is all I'm saying.

I reached out to Green box mechanical regarding replacing my water main line because of their high rating on Angie's list. I received an email confirmation from Mike Llewelyn telling me that Luis would be at our house at 1pm the next day. This worked out perfectly because I could just run home during my lunch break and walk Luis through the problem so he could provide a quote. I receive a missed call at noon but was not able to answer it. I hurry home (a 45 min commute) to make sure I'm on time to meet the plumber. 1 pm rolls by and still no Luis. I wait until 1:30 thinking he's probably running late and he still hasn't arrived yet. 2 pm rolls by and still no sign so I call the number provided for Luis. I ask what his ETA is and he tells me that our appt. was for noon and he figured I was a no show. I informed him that the confirmation email I received from Mike definitely said 1pm. His excuse was that he claimed it was a scheduling error but could still provide me with a quote. He explained to me that they would have to outsource the hydro vacuum/pumping they don't haul away the dirt once it's been vacuumed out, so it would be more cost effective if I called the company directly. He also said that they don't do the backfill so I would also have to haul my own gravel and dirt to fill up the hole that would be created by them!
After receiving just the quote for their services, not including the cost of the hydro vacuum or the backfill, they still came in way higher than any other of the companies I bid the job out with. Just ridiculous! I honestly don't understand their high reviews on Angie's list. I would not recommend them, as they are very unprofessional.
Very responsive and helpful. Will be my go to for all plumbing, electrical needs.
Their technician came over and spotted the problem right away, a fuse had flipped and I didn't even see it. Was super embarrassed about the whole thing but he was understanding and waived the visit fee. What a swell fella
First, they responded to my intial inquiry quickly and professionally, and scheduled me for the -following day- !
But....It turns out I stupidly bought a chandelier that didn't have all the required parts needed to install it (thanks, Craigslist.) The electrician who showed up explained it to me in detail, re-installed my existing chandelier, and gave me some options to consider.
She did not charge me for her time. In fact, refused to take any money. The minute I get the right light fixture, I'll be calling them. And only them. ;-)

Have to thank Green Box Mechanical for their efficient and expert service, on the way out of town we suddenly needed an electrician and happen to notice a Green Box van ahead of us on the freeway, from needing an electrician recently and having trouble scheduling one we were glad to have another name, Green Box was able to come out that day: Sue understood the problem and solved it quickly, with excellent communication throughout the process--really impressed with her and the Green Box team.
These guys were very nice, communicated well, and gave me a quote for some work that I need done. Ultimately they were a little higher price than the average, so I went with another company, but I appreciated the time they took to give me a quote.

We had to do a complete re-pipe of our one level ranch home with a crawl space basement. Galvanized pipes were replaced throughout. Devin came and gave us a great estimate and we scheduled within a couple of weeks. The communication throughout the process was fantastic. We even asked for a couple small additions to the job which Devin said no problem and did them at no extra charge. The estimate was the final price! We learned Devin is a 4th generation plumber and he is very knowledgeable. The convenient thing about Green Box is they are one stop shop with the ability to handle all aspects of the job because they have electricians too so there is no sub contracting or hassle to get someone to come and do what the plumber cant during the job. Would highly recommend and will use them again

Green Box Mechanical was awesome to work with - so happy we found them! They got rid of the old knob and tube wiring in our house and really took the time to lay out our options and explain them to me. The team was super responsive and did an awesome job. We'll definitely go to them for any future electrical needs!

I feel so lucky to have found Green Box right away- in my previous home, I searched for 15 years without finding a competent plumber that would not bankrupt me. Green Box has been out to my home four times now for three little things and one medium-sized installation. All four times they were friendly, fast and reasonably priced. I will never use another Portland plumber.
Had a great experience. My home's heater was not working, I called at 9 am for support to another HVAC company, and they could not accommodate. I called Green Box Mechanical, and they were super easy to work with, and 1 hour later they were at my house. Michael was very knowledgeable and gave me the insight needed in order for me to be educated about the issue which caused the failure. If I have any HVAC needs in the future, Green Box will be the call I will make due to the timeliness, and knowledge that they imparted to me.

I would highly recommend this company for all of your household repair needs . I had a 'tricky under the sink' plumbing issue. Brian with Green Box came out within 24 hours of my call. Very thoroughly with communications with arrival time. A FANTASTIC quote that left me super happy... in and out!
I will refer them to anyone with their multiple services for all plumbing/electrical and air conditioning needs!! They offer it all!
Thanks Mike and Brian with Green Box~

Green Box has been amazing and dedicated to installing a new AC system, even with my difficult furnace. Matt is the best, figured out the problem, got it fixed and now running seamlessly. Matt, JC and Green Box definitely went above and beyond, exceeded my expectations and I would highly recommend to everyone needing work on their house. They are always extremely responsive, easy to get a hold of and shows up on time. Thank you for all your hard work!

These guys were great on the phone and in person. Chris Almasan was the man, extremely helpful, good communicator, great person to be around in general and clearly a professional at what he does. The free quote was very helpful as we could compare these guys to everyone else in town. Fair prices and a very dialed program overall. Will be contacting these people for my electrical needs in the future.
My experience with Green Box was easy and issue-free. Can you believe it? When it comes to electricians and plumbers, it's hard to imagine. It started off with a request for an estimate via Yelp! at 10pm regarding some malfunctioning outlets and they responded before 8am the next morning. The person I spoke with on the phone about my problem was kind and professional as well as transparent with their costs for diagnostics, rates, etc. Although always amazed by the hourly rates of plumbers and electricians, I appreciated the information up front. She was able to schedule someone to come out the following day, which I felt was impressive as my experience in the past has been days-weeks for non-urgent issues. The technician was punctual and friendly and respected our home. He explained his method of thinking while working to troubleshoot and was able to discover and fix the issue very quickly. It all went as I had hoped: efficient and done the same day, friendly and to top it off, he tidied up the space afterward, which I feel is not something I've come to expect but am happy when it happens. When all was said and done, I was able to pay simply with a credit card, receiving the invoice instantaneously in my email. Within a few days, they sent me a thank you card in the mail with a discount offer on my next service. With that incentive and the experience we had, we will definitely use them again.
Extremely unprofessional. Hire at your own risk.
I just returned home from a week in the hospital. Despite that I communicated that to them that I would be home from the doctor for our 3 P.M. appointment, no matter what. At 4 P.M. I had not heard a thing and had to place calls into them to even hear back. Oh, we are running late...maybe we could come by after 5. It was great to know, right up front, that we do not need to consider them for our big job next year. They talk a good talk, but do not do the walk. You have been warned. Even dreaded Comcast calls when they will be late.
Very accommodating and superior professional service! I called all around Portland two days before a smaller job and Green Box was able to work with me to fit in a quote and service. Without Green Box, I wouldn't have been able to complete my last-minute kitchen remodel on time. Would recommend to anyone in the area!
We needed a complete re-pipe of our (fairly large) home. The old plumbing had not been upgraded in probably 40 years or more. Devin came on time and gave us a highly competitive quote. When we scheduled the job they were highly flexible which was great given it was about a 2 week job to complete.
I cannot speak highly enough of Devin and his team. They were very communicative, cleaned up every night, explained every bit of process, answered questions and made helpful suggestions. He wasn't fazed by anything that went wrong (and there were lots of things that we couldn't tell until we broke into walls), had a great attitude and clearly knows his stuff inside and out.
I would recommend Green Box and Devin specifically without any hesitation. Large job or small. They exceeded every expectation I had for what could have been a huge and scary process for a homeowner.
We found a leaky pipe in our house and a big mess in the crawl space. After trying to find a plumber who wanted the job or wasn't booked for weeks I decided to start a search on HomeAdvisor. Lucky I did. Within minutes Mike from Greenbox Mechanical contacted me and we were able to arrange for a plumber to come within a couple of days to suit our schedule. This is where Justin Walters the Plumbing Genius comes into our story. Justin was on time, very professional and friendly. Within minutes he assessed the damage and located the broken drain pipe inside the wall. He fixed the pipe while being very careful to cut as little of the wall as possible (which will be easily patched up). It was a dirty job and he fixed it brilliantly. The cost for this little nightmare was also reasonable. I would never consider anyone else for any future plumbing job. I will advise anyone to call Greenbox with confidence.

Great service for ceiling fan replacement. Sue arrived on time and was very professional and pleasant. Also, she was very neat and careful not to damage carpets or furniture. Would recommend without reservation.
Great experience with Green Box; will be hiring them for other projects. Bob was fun to work with, super professional and low-key, and had plans B & C(and probably D and E) for an annoying problem we had. (Plan A worked, fortunately.) Easy to schedule and do business w/, and great to work w/.

Called to ask about an electrical job. Got scheduled 3 weeks out to have somebody come and take a look and give me an estimate. On the day of appointment got a call saying the person who was supposed to come is out sick and offered to reschedule again in a few weeks. When I asked why I would have to wait again for weeks to get somebody who would be only giving an estimate, I was pretty much told that either wait or find somebody else to do the job. Looked like they were not interested in the job since it is relatively small. Never expected such a response. I understand business is great and everybody is busy. I would have appreciated them saying that they were not interested in the job when I called for the first time. Wasted my time waiting for almost a month. I am never calling them again
We had Green Box Mechanical do some electrical work on our 1906 house (upgraded several outlets, added a couple of new outlets, repairing outlets that weren't working and hard wired our Ring doorbell). They were prompt, professional, very personable, made sure to thoroughly communicate our options and cleaned up before they left (including our garage, which is a hot mess!). They provided an accurate estimate for the work prior to getting started. While they are probably not the cheapest, they are also not the most expensive. We would absolutely hire them again!

I needed to remove a car charger and some panel work for the sale of my house and on a recommendation used Green Box. The electrician, Eric Shockley, came out to do the work. The work was done promptly, professionally and for a fair price. Highly recommended!
I am so impressed with this company. I have used a Green box plumber three times recently (different things) and he was just the best. He really likes working for this company because they are customer based and reasonable. That is my consensus and I recommend them strongly.
Mike at Green Box Mechanical got right back to me after I requested a quote. I didn't have an emergency but need a bathroom repair soon. Mike got me on the schedule at a convenient time for me. Devin knew what the problem was right away and had it fixed in 20 minutes. I'll be calling them again next time I need a repair.
We were recommended through Nextdoor app for plumbing and electrical projects. Hopeful at first with good customer service and prompt on site estimate appointments. But....that was just the good aspects. Ben, gave us a estimate for the plumbing. A bit high just to replace old sink and put in new one. Also to attach new water purification system. Total = $500. I just looked on YouTube and figured out how to do myself. Took 3 hours but not worth it for them to do the plumbing.
Travis, he did the estimate on electrical. He was professional, but doing a little research in parts needed for the job I wanted, he was a professional ripoff. He was going to charge close to $600 for just the parts; I got everything (just the parts) from Home Depot for about $45. Come on, seriously. YouTube again showed me how to do it and completed job in 1 hour. I'm not a handyman but I'm learning how to do jobs myself. We are newly home owners with absolutely no experience in plumbing, electrical, carpentry, etc. this has to open your eyes that companies like these will rip you off if you have no idea how to do this yourself.

Unfortunately we were having some landscapers in our backyard that caused some issues with water to our downstairs toilet. Green box came out on one days notice. Quote to fix everything was very reasonable. Great service from the guy who came out himself, to the lady I spoke with in the office.
Very responsive. I needed an outlet replaced that had sparks coming out of it. They did an excellent job at a fair price
We had a problem with the pull out sprayer on our faucet, it was leaking. I chose greenbox because they were not a week out for an appointment, Devin came out the next day. He was awesome. Communicated all my options and was up front with the pricing, which I found to be very fair. We ended up having a new faucet installed after weighing our options, and he did it the same day. I would recommend them for any project, and I think they do more than plumbing.
