Great service by Darren. He was courteous and prompt. Had him do a fireplace service order and he was able to find the problem and fix it right away. Would use CA again!

I highly recommend Central Air. They are fast, friendly and worth every cent! Honestly, you can't ask for anything more from the crew at Central Air. Thank you Andrew, our family would have been miserable without you!

Do you like to have people with juvenile attitudes work on your home? If so, you should call Central Air. If you like professional, honest, organized professionals to do the work, call someone else like Greensavers or First Call. More than 5 weeks ago someone came to my home to give me a quote for air conditioning. He stated he would email me a quote and specs. Here I am 5 weeks later with zero response. I have made multiple calls and emails to both the main Central Air line as well as the person who came to my home. I have gotten ZERO response from anyone. Over 2 weeks after the person came over, I called his cell and he stated he would email the information that afternoon. He didn't. On my most recent call I stated that I would have a lot more respect for their company if they would be honest about what happened to my quote, assuming they lost something or didn't get all of the necessary information when they were here. Still no response. In the past they would offer a Starbucks gift card for a positive review. I don't know if they still do that, but if they do, it might explain some of these 5 star reviews. I would just like my quote, but instead of telling me what really happened with the quote, I'm being ghosted-just like a child would do.

My furnace kicked it during a blackout. After repeated calls, my landlord finally got around to calling Central Air to come out and fix it. At first they said they couldn't come until the next day (not really a surprise, at 2pm), but they managed to free up a tech to send over ASAP.

He got there exactly when he said he would. He was nice, friendly, and professional. He explained what had gone wrong, and what he was going to do to fix it. It took about 30 minutes (our furnace is so old he had to kludge it a little), and we were up and running again.

While i can't say i have a whole lot of experience with getting furnaces repaired, i've heard enough stories from others to be sure that Central Air provided good service. I highly recommend them.

Our 25 year old heat pump went out last summer (2012) at the worst time possible.
My housemate has health problems that require AC in the summer and heat in the winter.

I am a handyman, with 35+ years of experience, and have worked on hundreds of homes in 6 states. I have seen good, mediocre and unfortunately, lots of bad work.
This company is the best.

I called Central Air, and John sat with me for 11/2 hours the next day discussing the possible replacement options. John is INCREDIBLY well educated in his field, and easy to talk to.

We went with the high end Lennox heat pump with a high efficiency gas backup furnace because of the potential utility savings, and the tax credits were such that it was the best option.

John's crew showed up three days later, happy and in a great mood- a simple indicator of the kind of people we were working with. These guys were great!

His crew put the heat pump and  plumbing exactly where I asked, to allow access to the attic space over the garage with no obstructions. It was a LOT more work, but the technicians did it easily and without resistance.
The whole install went off in less than 5 hours- a tremendous amount of work for such a short time.
The extensive sheet metal work is beautiful- smooth, tightly sealed,  and they even used painters tape before painting the sealant on the ductwork. A nice touch that I have seldom seen.
When they left, there were absolutely no traces of the service call- no cardboard, no styro waste, no screws or metal scraps. They even swept the whole garage and left it cleaner than it was when they arrived.

The install was perfect. Exactly as I wanted it, executed with great skill.

The system has performed flawlessly, and has cut our utility bills by two thirds. After a year and a half, I cannot fault the hardware or the install in any way.

I will refer this company without reservation.

The pressure switch on my Lennox gas furnace failed meaning we had no heat during recent freezing temps. We called Central Air and explained the dilemma and even provided them with the furnace model number and the error code indicating pressure switch failure. They arrived the next day vacuumed out the interior of the furnace and amazingly diagnosed the failure as a pressure switch failure (didn't I already tell them that?) although they didn't have a replacement part available. The tech said special order, sometime next week. That wasted trip cost $119.

Next week arrives and we receive a quote to replace the pressure switch - $427 plus another $75 charge to obtain non van stock part - total $502 but wait, there's another $7.08 charge, Est. Financing. What financing? We were paying cash. $509.08 total estimate.

This all seemed odd to me as pressure switches online were listed from $25 to $60. I called the Lennox parts store and they sold the manufacturers replacement switch to me for $32.99. It was in stock, I picked it up from the store, less than10 minutes from my house. BTW, that Lennox parts store is just 1.8 miles from Central Air.

Replacement of the old switch took less than 5 minutes and required no tools - a simple matter of pulling 4 hoses from the old switch and pushing them onto the new switch; likewise, four pull off / push on electrical connectors. The switch itself just pushed into a slot on the furnace, again no tools required. The YouTube video explaining the install isn't even five minutes long.

Doing it myself cost $32.99 and less than 30 minutes, including drive time to the store and back.

Central Air wanted $628 ($119 + $509) and expected me to wait for days.

I understand a business must include a mark-up for overhead and profit but really, Central Air, this is scandalously ripping people off.

My family and I were looking for a new furnace and a air conditioning unit. I had several people come to my home and give me a bid. Andrew  with Central Air was very polite and not pushy like the others I spoke with. He answered all my questions and concerns and work with my schedule for install.

The day for install, the workers showed up on time and very friendly. They took the time to explain everything to me during install and when the wall mount was installed they took time to explain how to use it with out rushing things. They cleaned up all their mess and did not leave anything behind.

When it came down to finale inspection, the ladies in the office were very nice and worked out the inspection time with our families schedule. I had to take my daughter to the dr office and I missed one inspection but they called and set another time back up with no problem.

I am very pleased with all of there services I received from the office to sales to installers, I have recommended them to people I work with and many more!

Thank you for every thing Central Air! My kids can sleep at night!

I love saving money.  I'm sure most people do...but when a company quotes an HVAC system ON THE SPOT without doing any calculations other than counting the number of vents we have (which he actually MISCOUNTED!!) for around a third of the price of every other company, with no breakdown of anything other than a new heat pump... I don't know, they seem awfully fishy.

Then we tried to follow up to ask detailed questions and never heard back from them!  Well, eventually we spoke to someone who said Oh the guy who came out was just a salesman, we'll put you in touch with a tech.  Waited, waited, still never heard from a tech.  No questions could ever be answered.

Over a week later, I finally received a call back from the salesman.  He gave me a long story about being in urgent care and on an IV. I'm going to sound pretty insensitive by saying this, but that doesn't really explain why no one else in the company could take over for his clients.  If he truly was in a bad situation, his company would know about it and would still function without him.  Again, sorry for sounding like a jerk, but it's true.

By that point we'd already moved on.  But I wouldn't recommend Central Air Inc based on the lack of knowledge clearly shown in our first meeting.

We arrived home late one night to find our upstairs air conditioning was not working.  I sent a Yelp quote the next morning and Central Air responded right away.  They scheduled someone same day and when they were able to come earlier then planned, they had the technician wait for me!  The technician - Keegan - was great.  He told me the dampener for upstairs got blocked.  He did everything he could to fix that first but the motor had burned out.  He went back to Tigard that afternoon and got a new motor at very reasonable price - which he told me upfront.  He also changed my HVAC filter.  I would highly recommend Central AIr!

We can't recommend Central Air strongly enough. Last year we finished building our dream home and just as we were closing it became apparent that among a crew of otherwise wonderful subcontractors, our HVAC provider had really let us down on some finishing work. We ended up with a wonderful house that was hard to enjoy because the A/C was missing (in the middle of one of those record breaking heat waves) and our air filter and several vents didn't fully work. Since the drywall was all closed up and we were in a rush to move in with a baby on the way, we needed a new HVAC company that not only knew their stuff, but would be willing to crawl around the attic and utility spaces of a home already built by someone else, correcting lots of little issues here and there that involved lots of labor.

Central Air came through with flying colors and now all our vents are well mounted with great airflow, our air filter is properly installed and easy to maintain, our A/C blows nice and chilly in the summertime, and they even spotted and fixed issues we didn't even know about like poorly sealed ductwork and missing insulation. Every step of the way, our point of contact Art Mays was patient, responsive, and always listened to exactly what we wanted (even willing to come out and make tweaks without complaint).

Whether you have a straightforward HVAC installation need, or a complex repair, we strongly suggest you talk to Central Air when comparing bids. You won't regret it.

Stay away from this company.  You will regret contacting them if you do.   Took 2 months to get a quote.  Quote came back incorrect and had to re-quote--another month.  Horrible customer service.  No one should have to beg to pay for service.  It was like working with kids.

Stay away!

We found Central Air Heating, Cooling & Plumbing here on Yelp after soliciting some potential vendors for a small project installing a sink and swapping the fixture on another. Central Air reached out promptly, was timely and flexible in scheduling an estimate, and getting an installation scheduled.

Ryan came out to our home both times and gave us options and great advice on how to achieve our project goals. The installation was really seamless and professional and we're incredibly happy with the results! Thanks Ryan and team!

The folks at Central Air are amazing. Mike has gone above and beyond to work with us to resolve issues with our heat pump. If you need a team that cares about the work they do and will see the job through, these are the folks to call. They are professional and courteous. I highly recommend them.

We have a sewage pump in our basement, which failed us mid-day on a Saturday. This left the basement occupant unable to use any sink or the toilet.  I went to Yelp to find a plumber. There was only one response over the weekend, from a company we didn't use. Monday Central Air Heating, Cooling & Plumbing contacted us. Their plumber came out in late morning, made a run for parts, came back and installed the pump. To that point everything was fine. Everything would be better than fine by the end of this review. Please continue reading. When it came time to test the pump the plumber found out the hard way that a coupler was loose, and he told me that he forgot to torque down the bolts. That caused grey water from the sewage pump to spray about the area. Unfortunately for the plumber, he took the brunt of the spray, which saved our food pantry almost completely. My wife, son and I spent quite a bit of time finding and cleaning what needed. I asked the plumber if there was anything his company could do to make up for the honest accident, and he talked with his boss about it. I spoke with the manager today, stating that nothing of value got permanently damaged, and I asked for a specific amount of money off the price for our inconvenience. To my surprise, the manager pretty much double what I'd asked for.

Some things went incredibly well here. 1, it's VERY obvious that Central Air Heating, Cooling & Plumbing stands behind their work, and that's my biggest concern when hiring a contractor. This company aced the test. 2, The plumber himself had the integrity to say that he overlooked tightening the bolts. He even put that on a report to his boss. Integrity test aced. 3, The work itself turned out great. 4, They came out on the first business day after the pump failed.

YOU MUST READ THIS! We had a very bad experience with the whole installation process, which took almost 3 months! In the end we were told the last repair would be made, balancing would be done of the system, and we would get something in the mail regarding complimentary furnace maintence. After our final meeting with Andrew he never contacted us anf did not follow through. I am not suprised, as this was the case on several occasions

Some of the issues we ran into seemed to be related to bad workmanship, disorganization, poor communication, and straight dishonesty. After several complaints, phone calls and emails, we were told that the employees had undergone training and that the company had restructured its processes in an effort to address several of the issues we encountered. Nothing changed!

Thanks for the $1000 dollar discount, but no thanks for the damaged wood floors, crooked vent holes, fast food bags left behind, half finished jobs, no call backs, damaged siding and a metal plate to cover the damage, cold and hot spots in the house. Are we ever going to get our rebate information?

I posted this because I have made way too many phone calls, emails, and face to face meetings with Andrew and other staff! Other people need to know about this so that maybe Andrew will follow through with his word and stop lying and hustling people. I wish so badly that we would have chosen a different company!!!! If anything ever goes wrong with our furnace/water heater or the work they did I'm worried they won't show up or they will do half ass job.

So get your furnace, water heater, or other service from these guys and know that the employees will be late, uninformed about their purpose in your home, won't use drop cloths,  will use the wrong tool for a job, will leave garbage behind, won't finish a job, and will blame you for their job not passing inspection. Oh and ask about their 100% satisfaction guarantee policy because it is non-existent.  If you try to ask them to fix the problem or compensate you for damage, they will threaten to get lawyers involved...

They got two stars because they finished the job enough so that it passed inspection and we had heat over the winter.

Through Central Air I had my house insulated and a new furnace installed. The crew was fast, friendly, and clean. When a problem was found with the insulation many months later, they came out and fixed the problem at no charge.

I have been amazed at the difference these measures have made in my home! The temperature stays more consistent and my energy bills have remained low for over a year!

Stellar work! I am completely satisfied and would certainly recommend Central Air.

Brandon did a great job fixing my A/C and was upfront about the diagnosis and all costs.  Once they quote a price, they stick to it and get the job done.  They were able to book an appointment within a few days, order the parts, and complete the repairs within the same week!

Make sure you get pricing up front - they are by far far far in a galaxy far far away not the cheaper choice. For example. They were going to charge 5 times the amount per pound for recharge than a competitor.
When I asked why the very nice and courteous tech told me they are a bigger company with more overhead.
If you want to pay for overhead of this company then go ahead. I am calling another company and paying for another service visit with 2 pounds of recharge for my AC and still coming off saving money. These guys wasted my time and money. I would not recommend them.

I am extremely disappointed in Central Air.  On Tuesday of last week, in the middle of the night, the water supply line to my dishwasher worked itself loose.  For many hours throughout the night, hot (then warm, after the water heater couldn't keep up) water ran unchecked throughout my home's kitchen.  The water managed to make it to the HVAC ducting in the crawlspace, ruining good portions of it.

Central Air did the initial install of our HVAC system in our new home a year and a half ago.  I actually had to utilize them on a warranty repair in December, and that went perfectly fine.  John, the technician, was friendly and knowledgeable.  Fast forward to last week.  After the initial cleanup was completed, and armed with the knowledge that our insurance company would let me use a contractor of my choice, Central Air was the natural choice.  I placed a call to their office and spoke to Cathy.  I explained to her that I had worked with John previously and that I'd like to get an estimate/bid for the repair to our HVAC ductwork.  Cathy told me that John was sick.  Okay, no problem, fine, please have him call me when you can.  Next day, with no word from John or Central Air, I call again, and speak to Cathy.  I let her know that at this point, I would like any technician to come out for the work; it doesn't have to be John.  Cathy says she will have someone call me.  Another day passes.  I call Central Air again to express that I want to get a bid quickly.  Cathy says I'll see what I can do.

...

5 days later - no response.  I guess I wasn't clear enough when I said I want to get the estimate as soon as possible?  Well, let me be clear with this statement: Central Air won't get another cent from me.  I can ensure that my checkbook will be perfectly clear with them.

The February ice storm damage the grate on the top of my AC unit.  Essentially ,the fan was hanging and inoperable.  I asked for this company to come out and do an assessment and diagnose/fix the problem.  There was an appointment available next day, a technician showed up, looked at the unit and said it was broken.  This took 15 minutes at most.  I was charged $119.00 and was left with no diagnostics or ideas what was happening with the unit.  I received a bid for $2500.  This included a $75 part ordering fee and some other suspect charges.  I called to inquire and was told that they would not know what was wrong with the unit until they got new the top grate installed.  I asked, if I used them for the fix would the $120 that I paid go towards the bill?  Their answer was no.  So I paid $120 for a bogus bid and, at most, 20 minutes of work.  I called on a competitor to come and give me an assessment and bid.  This company charged me $99.  This charge will be reduced to the bill shall I use them to fix.  This company also called Lennox and found out that my unit was under warranty.  I was very impressed with the competitor and extremely unimpressed with Central Air Heating and Cooling.  I do not recommend doing business with this company.  It was like throwing $120 into a fire pit.

This was the third company we called.  I felt like we wre getting the run around with some larger companies in the area.  Brandon M came out on a Saturday, not only did he diagnose the problem with our AC, but he went into the attic and changed the filter, and corrected the air flow on the vents.  He then changed the interior filters.  Brandon gave me a couple of options on fixing the repair, where as other companies wanted to sell me a new unit....which was only 4 years old!  He was upfront and honest.  He fixed it and the house has never been cooler.  I am sold, could not be happier with the service we received from start to finish!

I have been using Central Air for approximately the last 10 years for all of the HVAC that I put into my homes.  They have always done a wonderful job.  The most comforting part for me is that I absolutely trust in their recommendations.  They have built that trust over the years and it is the most valuable commodity in our industry.  Great company.

Requested a quote through Yelp to replace an old hot water heater. They responded quickly and had an appointment set up right away. There was a small mixup with getting my address wrong, but the plumber Stan was very professional and did a great job answering my questions and cleaning up afterward. The final cost was exactly as quoted, and I'm very happy with the whole experience.

My air conditioning went out during a heat spell.  They sent a service tech out same day.  He discovered my blower motor was dead and told me he would have to get a new motor from the distributor.  He then offered to stop by on his way home from his last call and install the new motor.  He said It's supposed to be over 90 tomorrow and I am sure you are going to want this running as soon as possible  He showed up as promised at 8 pm that night and finished at 9:30.  I feel they really went out of their way and provided a level of service that is not the norm in their industry.  All of this was done without me having to ask, and there was no extra charge.  I highly recommend these guys.

I am an architect and owner of a 1906 Craftsman home which I'm slowly modernizing into a comfortable place and an investment for the future. I was pleased to discover Central Air, Inc. through the Energy Trust of Oregon's Clean Energy Works program in Portland, Oregon.

My house is 2000sf and previously had no insulation.  This lead to lots of temperature differential throughout the levels and rooms as well as drafts and extremely high heating and cooling costs.  The house had no central cooling and the upper floor would at times be as warm as 90 degrees!  In the coldest months our heating electric bills would peak at around $400 a month!  NOT acceptable!!

My project manager from Central Air, Inc. was Chris Barry.  I appreciate how he listened and worked with me as well as his recommendations for the appropriate system and insulation strategies.  He answered all of my questions and helped me through the tough decisions one makes when making a home energy investment.

Now that the install is complete, I am delighted with the consistent temperatures throughout the house, the quiet operation of the indoor & outdoor equipment, and how quiet the house is in general now that the walls have been filled with dense packed blown in insulation.  The monthly electric heating bill is now about 25% the previous amount.

After all the years since 1906, my house is finally dressed appropriately to be outside!

Thanks to Central Air (HVAC), Green Energy Solutions (Insulators), Clean Energy Works, Energy Trust of Oregon, and Mitsubishi.

I am a very happy customer and will use this team again as well as recommend them on my future residential design work.

Nice guys, but a bit disorganized. they under bid my job and spent too much time on it- so they ended up cutting corners and didn't reinstall dampers on the back 3 rooms... leaving the house terribly unbalanced so my home is hot in some rooms and cold in others. I mentioned it to them and they didn't return my email.
