Colvin Electric Electrician
We had a great experience with Colvin Electric and can't speak highly enough of Ivan Torres.  He was friendly, professional, and very communicative and responsive throughout the service process.

My husband and I initially called Colvin Electric because we'd lost power to one room in our house.  My husband has done basic wiring and thought he would fix it himself, but it turned out to be more complicated than he'd expected.  Colvin came to diagnose that problem and we also asked them replace our old Federal Pacific breaker panel.  They gave us a quote (which was much better than quotes we received from other places) and we scheduled a time for them to come back and do the work.  They do seem to be pretty busy, because we had to wait a couple weeks, but we are glad we did.  (It seems that most electricians are really busy during this COVID season when so many people are doing home repairs and remodels!)

They replaced the panel and had to test all of the breaker switches to identify them and label them.  They were very professional and considerate as they worked through each room in our house, testing outlets and flipping switches.  Due to an unforeseen circumstance with the city, the inspector wasn't able to come and sign off on the work, so they had to stay very late and get a temporary approval so that our electricity could be turned on.  We appreciated their professionalism, the fact that they were able to find a temporary solution, and that they were committed to staying until everything was taken care of.  Due to that situation with the city inspector, they did not have time to fix the electricity in the room we had initially called about!  But they got us back on the schedule for the next week and were able to take care of the problem in about 30 minutes!  It turns out that the problem started with a neutral on the outlet behind our fridge, which is in a completely separate room than the one that lost power.  We were impressed with how quickly and simply they identified and resolved the issue.

They did a great job on replacing the breaker panel and repairing the electricity in the previously dark room!  We will not hesitate to call Colvin Electric ANY TIME we need electrical work done.

Matt's Electrical Work Electrician
Finding an honest, reliable electrician in a coty growing as fast as Austin is not easy. I've experienced first-hand the sloppy craftsmaship of some of the big electrical companies, not so with Matt's. He goes above and beyond to make sure you're pleased with your outcome.
10/10. Highly recommended

Norrell Electric Electrician
Very disappointed with this business!!!
We called 10 days ago to get estimate to get 3 Hunter ceiling fans (with remotes)  and two light fixtures installed on a previously owned home in Sun City.  We were quoted a price of $ 350 plus tax to do the installation (after she had checked with the boss).
Two gentleman showed up today ready to go to work...but the price was now 47% higher (now $495 plus tax) to do the install. My wife called the office to ask what happened? The lady who had given us the estimate told us there was a misunderstanding as she didn't understand we wanted remotes installed.  (We had made this clear when we called to get the estimate 10 days ago). She said installing the remotes was what had increased the price. If that were true, then it would have been $48/each to install the Hunter remotes that I had purchased new at Home Depot for less than $40 a piece. Doesn't make sense. She offered to reduce the $495 to $465  ($10 off each remote installation) if we would go ahead with the install.  We told them No Sale and sent them on their way.  This has left a sour taste in my mouth.  Tom Norrell was passed along to me by a Sun City friend who I will inform of my bad experience so they can advise others.
A word to the wise....don't rely on the estimate you are provided...and beware of the ooh, there was a misunderstanding excuse.  Find someone else to do business with.

Veteran Electric Electrician
5 stars for Vince, James, Logan, Ashley, and the entire Veteran Electric team!

I rarely if ever write reviews for vendors good or bad.  However, since Veteran goes above and beyond expectations, I wanted to share this rare find with my Austin neighbors.

I reached out to eight electrical companies for generac backup system bids, and only three of the eight were able to actually make it all the way through the inspection and estimating processs.

As we all know construction, electrical, and plumbing contractors in Austin have been overwhelmed with work for the last few years, and sadly we're all now used to scheduling weeks in advance for even simple repairs.  Then we usually have to wait another 1-3 months (if we're lucky) to have the work commence only to be faced with the inevitable overscheduling/supply chain delays to complete the job that always extend well beyond the agreed upon delivery time frame.....assuming all goes perfectly and no issues arise once the job begins.

Of all eight companies I spoke with, Vince's team was by far the most complete.  Responsive, communicative, expeditous, and competitively priced.  FYI the vendor that the Generac website recommends as the local Austin installer was the most expensive.

FYI...Prices vary widely for the same size genny install (mine was a 24kw), and most importantly availability is not the same from company to company; as many use different distributors to supply the Generac product.   Of all the vendors I spoke to only Veteran, Fox (2nd choice), and ARS were able to secure the product in under a month, as opposed to others who couldn't deliver for 3-6 months.  Which is most likely why the other five didn't make it all the way through the bidding process, as they simply couldn't deliver in a normal time frame and for a competitive cost.  Several of which never returned calls or actually showed up as promised to inspect the proposed setup.

As an example...my next door neighbor was also in the market for a backup genny and started the search about a month before I did.  We used the same landscaper to pour our concrete pads for the gennies, yet ended up hiring different companies for the install, as I was fortunate enough to have Veteran electric on my list, and booked Veteran a month after she had already locked her vendor.

Her vendor told her product would be available in 3-6 months at the time of deposit.  My system was completely installed within two weeks, and I'm happy to say works perfectly.  I'm sure her system will be equally as efficient once it's installed, but obviously the turn around time is far from ideal.

I spent 3 years remodeling my house, and have built two others in the last few years, so I understand the supply chain and labor shortage stress the Austin construction world is unfortunately faced with.  However, of all the vendors in every possible trade category available that I've worked with in the last five years, I can safely say Vince and his team at Veteran are at the top of that list.....and No, I'm not related, have never worked with them prior, and haven't recieved any incentive to write this review.

Simple fact is, when you find a local company this good, in a sea of unresponsive, overpriced, and underwhelming vendors, everyone should hear about it!  I rely on Yelp for vendor reviews, and I hope mine will help others cut through the clutter going forward.

The bonus is, you also get to support a veteran owned business, and that's huge plus.

ATX Electrical Services Electrician
John at ATX Electrical was outstanding!  He came out to take a look at our project and jumped into action noting the deficiencies that had been brought to our attention during this project and I was able to validate his findings. His work was super clean and tidy. We added an exterior outlet for our sump pump and he didn't have to run any extra exterior conduits like I  had been previously quoted for less $$. I am really pleased with how it turned out. ATX was not the cheapest, but their work was definitely superior. I would call them back in a heartbeat because I know I'll be taken care off.

360 Inspired Electrical Electrician
Shopping around for electrical work was not easy.  I kept getting quotes from big box electrical companies thinking that they were the only ones that could do my whole house remodel, but the prices were unreasonable and way over my project estimate for electrical.
So, I moved to support a locally owned business. I wanted someone that I could trust with my whole house remodel which included replacing all the electrical wiring including installing a new panel on my  60-year-old home.
Jeff, the Owner, did an amazing job. He was meticulous and we could not have been happier with the work that he did.  When it came time for the inspection, the City Inspector was impressed with his work.  He said, looks like he takes pride in his work! In addition to rewiring the whole house in the structural state, he added can lighting, and also added up-lights to the outside which gives the house a whole new look.
So, anyone looking for quality work at a reasonable price with someone you can trust to give you amazing work, please call Jeff at 360 Inspired Electrical.

Rangel Electrical Services Electrician
Rangel Electrical services called me back the same day and delivered great service the very next day. In fact they showed up early to complete the task before expected. Communication was help throughout the entire process via text and phone call to ensure the job was completed on time and to my liking. For the quickness the task was completed and how convenient it was I feel like the price was very fair. I highly recommend this service.

Reese Electric Electrician
James came here attending a very last minute call. He couldn't fix the issue at the day so he didn't charge us for the visit.

The next time around he fixed the issue and even took the time to explain why it was happening and how the previous electricians did a bad job. I already knew they did a bad job, but not the extent of it.

Will definitely use it again.

Julius Electric Electrician
I hired Mr. David Julius to do a panel upgrade to my home which entailed a new weather head, meter can, 200a main panel, ground rods and water bond. The cost he quoted was very reasonable. He was super professional and great to deal with from beginning to end. His work is totally flawless. I was very impressed. This person is very skilled and I could not recommend him enough. At this point, I would only use Julius Electric for any of my electrical needs.

Apex Electrical Services Electrician
Amazing!  The electrician that came to my house just happened to be the owner and he was out standing!  I am renting a house and there was a socket that looked burnt and another that sparked when my wife tried to plug something in. He fixed both of these issues and then moved on to three separate light switched that had to be balanced in the middle to shut off. Yes balanced in the middle to shut the lights off. This also prevented the second switch to that light from working. He changed out six switches total to fix the problem. I would recommend him and his company to my family and friends!

A E I Electric Electrician
It's not often we encounter a worker like Zach who can listen and solve a problem so quickly. He stopped what he was doing and fixed a light that needed to be shining in a different direction. I will remember this and be sure his name and number are in my go-to list for electrical solutions. Thanks for being there for us, Zach!

Bryant AC & Electric Electrician
Replaced dimmer switch, bulbs and serial connection to the bog pump. Main problem was broken toilet exhaust fan & lamp. Had him swap the unit from upstairs toilet. Purchased a fan from Homedepot which did not fit. He though it could be a 5$ capacitor but he did not have the part. I ended up buying the entire unit online (150$) and fitting it myself. I paid 500$ for the other jobs ( labor only since all parts were on hand already) which is too much!

Called up a different time to enquire how much it would cost to add a separate breaker for a treadmill. The girl answering the phone said that it will cost 59$ to have someone come and quote. I asked for a ball park, low, high and most probable based on their past experience. She stated that it was policy to quote a price only after a visit ....

Blanco AC, Electrical, & Plumbing Electrician
Had another A/C problem and called Blanco HVAC. They were able to work me into the schedule later that day. Richie came out and diagnosed the problem quickly but had to order a part. Armando located the part and called me to set up installation. Richie was out again and got me up and running in short order. I love these guys.

A-Tex Electric Electrician
Where to begin.  I had intermittent power outages house-wide.  I called A-Tex Electric and they sent out a repair person.  I detailed the issue to the owner in advance via phone and text, so they knew what was needed.
After arriving, the repair person went to determine the cause.  Then, after a few minutes, he asked to go to the bathroom and stayed in there for nearly 20 mins.  Then, after finishing, he went upstairs and I didn't see him for quite some time.  It turns out he was up there replacing four light sockets without telling me, so I never approved the work, and I didn't need the work.  He ultimately said I'd need to replace all of the sockets in the house (which were all functioning fine btw), but he couldn't quote me a price.  I then asked if he could do the work and he said he didn't have time, so I asked him why he would come out if he didn't have time to do a repair.
Then, he claimed to have no idea how to estimate the cost even though he had worked for A-Tex for 12 years.  According to him, he didn't know if they charged by the service or by the time.
We ended up calling the owner and getting a voicemail.  Then he called back and we stayed on the phone for 10 mins while the repair person just stood there.
Then he left saying he would get me a quote via email.
Well, sure enough, I received a bill for the four socket replacement repair for $420!  So they expect me to pay $420 for four sockets to be replaced, which I didn't want, need, or authorize.
I called the owner of A-Tex and told him I found the bill to be high and that I felt like I was being taken advantage of.  He claimed they charge an hourly rate of $120 (which isn't on their website, nor disclosed when I spoke with the owner), he charges for drive time, and he rounds up to the highest hour.  Then you pay for parts.
Of course, the 20 min bathroom break and 10 min phone call with the owner while the repair person stood there (just to get a quote for repairs!) was on the clock, unbeknownst to me.  That bathroom break and phone call cost me $60!  And that time triggered the cost of another hour or work even though it went into that third hour by a few minutes.
Then the owner made my jaw drop when he said they couldn't actually fix the intermittent outage because by the nature of the problem they can't determine the cause since it likely wouldn't happen while they were there.  I asked him, So you sent a repair person out knowing that the problem couldn't be diagnosed and the repair couldn't be done.  He said yes, and apologized.
Ultimately I offered to pay $120 for the $420 since I didn't want the work done, didn't authorize the work, didn't need the work, the repair person was there unnecessarily (by their own admission), and the bill was padded with a 30 min drive to my house, a 20 min bathroom break, and a 10 min phone call to the owner.
To add insult to injury, in a later email with the owner he told me that he had a $240 minimum, yet another price consideration that was never disclosed (and would've kept me from using them) and that he would put a lien on my house if I didn't pay.  I would win in court because the work was unauthorized (and thus there was no paperwork showing that it was), but the effort of that would be too much.
In that spirit, I'm writing this review to warn ANYONE that is thinking of using them that they will be screwed over with impunity.  Buyer beware for certain.  Don't walk away from A-Tex Electric....RUN!
