Powell's Plumbing & Maintenance Plumbing Service
The resolution to a plumbing issue was helpful to determine next steps to fix other issues related to a potential problem.

I would recommend this plumber to others because of the quick diagnosis of the issue and the no nonsense answer to the issue.

Wexford Handyman Company Plumbing Service
Let me first say both Andrew and Christopher were extremely professional. Coming from California, I was extremely impressed with both of the men's presentation and integrity. I had a wonderful experience with Andrew who had extreme attention to detail. I had a lot of small detailed work on floor and trim that needed finished. Previous contractor was sloppy. I couldn't be more happy with the job and how easy he was to work with. Andrew allowed me to walk him through the house as he completed each task, he worked very well with me and displayed nothing but respect and eagerness for my satisfaction. Christopher was doing the electrical work and also displayed attention to detail reviewing carefully each project to make sure it was completed efficiently. I actually kept both guys 3 hours longer because the original company who was to hang outdoor lighting never showed. These guys stayed and Christopher completed all of my outdoor lighting and other indoor lighting. If you want efficient work done in a timely manner this is your handyman service.

Andrew Stroje Plumbing Service
I've been using Andy for about 30 yrs. He's very competent and very honest. Many times, he will tell me, knowing I have handymen etc, you don't want to pay to me dig that hole. I'll have it dug and he comes back to do the actual plumbing. Or he'll tell me just have my handyman do something. If something is too big a job, he'll get someone he trusts for me. They have always been excellent also.

His bills are written itemized to the last bolt and look like a draftsman did them.

Never have had a problem or a call back with his work.

Allegheny Plumbing Plumbing Service
I could not be happier with jobs that were done.  They are very professional and courteous and the workmanship was outstanding.  The owner was really good about staying in touch with me regarding when the job was to be done, decisions regarding materials and any other issues that arose.  I would feel comfy recommending them to anyone and will surely use again if the need arises.

Matt Mertz Plumbing Plumbing Service
As I woke up Monday Morning, I heard a gentle waterfall in the background.    I thought of what a peaceful morning it was.   I made my morning coffee and decided to start my day with a shower.

I turned on the shower and thought the water is really hot.   Strange - I thought nothing more and continued with getting ready for work.     Still not aware, I finished and started toward my garage.   The gentle waterfall sounded more like a rush of water (my thoughts go to Houston as I write this).

I open my laundry room door to see a steady stream of water flowing to my main drain.   I immediately went to turn off my water main and research plumbers.

We all have different sites to research to find good providers - I went to 3 different sources.   This is my house.   This is much different than a meal out.    I found Matt Mertz Plumbing.  All 3 sources had good reviews.

The gent I spoke to on the phone was very helpful.   He was calm and asked questions.   Of course, I was not prepared for his questions.  He patiently waited and guided me around my house to get necessary information.    He asked for me to take pictures and to email the corp email (I love modern technology) to assess the information.    He provided me an estimate and explained how they would dispatch a plumber.   All was very straight forward and appreciated.

Then the adventure begun for the plumber Rob (AKA McGuyver) and myself.    The previous owner basically dry-walled the water heater into place.   The new water heaters are considerably wider due to efficiency improvements.

We began our construction / demo of a portion of a wall so that the new water heater go be put in place (please note that there were any other real options).   Feeling cool - Please note that I am not allowed to use a hammer in my house for obvious reason - I put in a small Kool-Aid Man hole (5 ft High / 3 ft Wide) into the wall so the water heater could be installed.   McGuyver was able to remove an additional portion (just enough to get the water heater moved into place).

Rob (McGuyver) was able to complete his work and provide hot water like a magician pulls a bunny out of a hat.

The emergency was resolved the same day very close to the estimated cost.   Rob will be a person I request for all future work (replace an electric stove with a gas stove).    A strong recommend especially when you are in need.    The entire company from the original call to the various call backs to Rob and exceeded my expectations.

Now I am off to learn all I can about drywall (thank you Google / YouTube).

Requested a quote to have a water heater replaced.  Response was prompt and Shari was delightful.  Did not choose this company because their quote was ~$750 higher than the other contractors I had contacted.

Thanks for being so pleasant Shari!

I called to have a leaky pipe fixed in my laundry room hooked to my central air. He came and fixed it but was unprofessional. Didn't wanna make small talk didn't even say his name or nothing. Professionalism goes along way with me. After he fixed that now my central air leaks. Never did before. I called they still want to charge me without offering any discounts or an hour free service nothing at all. I will not call them again.

Brookline Plumber Plumbing Service
Careless, sloppy, and dishonest.  This is the only way to describe the Brookline Plumber.  When installing drainage pipe, they damaged neighboring property, removed $300 of landscaping stone without returning it, and only refilled half the hole they dug out for the pipe.  See the picture for their handy work.  I'm sure they can handle simple jobs like shut off valves but avoid them for anything more involved than this.

McVay Plumbing, Heating & Cooling Plumbing Service
I called Mike at the recommendation of one of my neighbors who had used his services a few years earlier, and a Monroeville Public Works employee.  We were getting occasional backups of clean water from the floor drain in our laundry room.  After the latest backup after a heavy rainstorm, a Monroeville Public Works employee checked out the nearby manholes and confirmed that all of their sewer lines were flowing properly.  He theorized that groundwater was getting into cracks in the terra cotta drain lines at a greater volume than the root-infested drains could handle, which was causing the line to back up into my basement.  He recommended that I call Mike to have him check it out, especially because of Mike's trenchless line replacement capabilities (I have a nice, mature pinoak in my front yard that I didn't want to damage by digging up the whole front yard).

Mike came out and ran a camera through all of the underground lines in the house, and got as far out to the street as he could.  He didn't charge me for the camera work (another plumber that I called wanted $200 to scope out the lines before giving me an estimate).  I looked over his shoulder to see what the camera was showing, and he was really patient, explaining everything to me along the way.  I was surprised at how generous he was with his time.  It was clear that there were many cracks in our drains, and just as many roots.  In some cases the roots were so bad that he couldn't get the camera through them.  His estimate was $5200 to install a cleanout and vent next to my house (none of the houses in my early-1960s neighborhood have cleanouts), and replace the sewer line from the house to the street using his trenchless pipe lining system.  He said the pipes inside the house were cracked and had a few roots, but they weren't bad enough to warrant digging up the concrete to replace them.

It seemed like a good price, but it was still a lot of money, so I got a second estimate a few days later.  Their estimate was $8000-$9000 (they wouldn't commit to an exact price because they weren't sure exactly how far they had to go to connect to the main sewer line).  They also recommended replacing all of the underground pipes in my basement for another $6000.  I called Mike and booked the job with him.  I asked him if he was sure that the pipes in the basement were still OK.  He said that he could replace them if I wanted him to, but he didn't think it was worth the money.

We booked a date about a month out.  I called a few days before the date to make sure that we were still on, and he said that everything was OK.  Two days before the job all of the utility companies came out to mark their underground lines.  The day of the job Mike and his assistant showed up promptly and began working.  The pipe lining technology was pretty cool, and everything went quickly that day; several neighbors even hung around to watch the process of shooting the liner into the old pipe.  Once the epoxy-coated fabric liner was fed through the old pipe, a balloon-like device was fed through the pipe and inflated from an air tank and air compressor to help keep the pipe in shape while the epoxy/fabric mix cured.  Since the temperatures got fairly cool that evening, the compressor had to remain connected overnight to maintain pressure inside the pipe in case the epoxy was curing more slowly than usual.  Since the air compressor was a bit noisy, I just pulled it inside the house so that it wouldn't disturb the neighbors when it kicked on overnight (I was going to a hotel that night anyway, so I didn't care if the compressor ran inside the house).

On day 2, they showed up bright & early again, and wrapped up the job.  The job was inspected by the county inspector, they connected the cleanout and vent stacks, reconnected the new pipe to the interior lines, replaced the dirt, fixed the landscaping, and put down grass seed.  Mike ran the camera through the new pipe all the way out to the street, and I could see that the line was clean.  He took the camera inside the basement and ran it through the lines under the house again to show how the interior lines fed into their new liner.  Again, he was very generous with his time.  The trenchless system is some pretty cool technology, and Mike seems to enjoy showing it off.

When it was time to settle up the bill, Mike explained the costs from the original estimate, and pointed out that his measurements were off by about 10 feet, and they had to use more liner than they expected to connect to the main sewer line.   But, he said it wasn't going to affect the price, though.  When I offered to pay a bit extra to cover the cost of the materials, he politely refused, and said that it just happens sometimes.

Overall, I was very happy with his work.  There were plenty of opportunities for him to push more services on me and try to increase the scope of the job, but he never did it.  I'd recommend Mike and his services to anyone.

DiNucci Plumbing Plumbing Service
The business owner responded quickly to our call to come look at the bathtub and consult with us regarding the work to be done.  He returned with two other individuals to help install a trap for the bathtub, repair the flange for the toilet and move the water lines for the vanity by a couple inches.  The master plumber who was also the owner of the company insisted upon the job being done to code which is a good thing. He was the only master plumber among the three individuals working.  The men used basic plumbing tools to perform the job; blow torch, saw-zaw, wrenches, etc. They did purchase a few basic parts to complete the work. The job took about 6 hours start to finish. We received the bill which was $3600!  We were dumbfounded when we received the bill so we requested an itemized list for the labor and associated costs for this job.  We found that we were billed for tools that were basically part of a plumbers toolbox to perform the work, they had severely inflated prices for basic plumbing parts and had to have charged a master plumber's rate for all three individuals. Our mistake in hiring the company was not asking in advance for a quote from the owner. We didn't ask for a quote because the company had done work for us in the past and the work was done well and while it was a little on the high side, it wasn't outrageous for the work that was performed. We absolutely will not use this company again and would not recommend them.  We were extremely disappointed in their business practices.

I am not a plumber, but I think I was charged way too much for the job that I got this place to do. It was a water leak under my trailer. He charged me 775.00, but gave me a 25.00 senior discount, so I paid 750.00. He charged by job, so this is what is on my invoice: Remove skirting, locate leak, cut tree to gain access, remove side skirt. The tree he cut was a small Rose Of Sharon that took him all of 2 minutes to do. Then cut open belly, pinpoint leak, cut out 3 way tee transition, install APEX transitions, run APEX to replace all pipe removed. Then turn on water, and test for leaks. He was here approximately an hour/ hour and 15 minutes. At one point he told me had to wait till something to dry and he did an awful lot of smoking. I checked the prices of 3 way pex transitions and they were about 10.00. I think he charged me way too much and I do NOT recommend this plumber for anyone unless you want to get taken for a ride. This is my opinion.

Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup Plumbing Service
TERRIBLE - ALL THE WAY AROUND. I would select a negative rating if that was a choice.
The drain in my backyard was flooding. I have 2 large dogs that bark when the wind blows. The technician said he knocked (lie #1) and that he sat outside on my steps for over an hour (who has time to do that???)
He snaked the drain and it got stuck. He tried with everything he had in him to pull it out. It took another good 30 minutes to free the snake.
That evening I proceeded to my basement, and much to my dismay....the sludge from the drain in the yard was suddenly in my basement with a hole in the wall.
I called back and was told that 2 technicians would be out before the end of the night to run a camera down the drain. The original tech came back and told me to wait until it dries to clean it up - WHAT?!?!? Needless to say..the other 2 never showed up either. The tech said he was off duty but was curious to see what happened.
Next day (now 3 days after initial incident) was Sunday, we were told that a SUPERVISOR was coming out by the end of the evening. Guess who came? NOBODY!
Monday - we were told that someone would call us (after 1pm) to tell us what time he would be there. They were at the door at 7:30am and my son had to leave for work, so tech could not stay - told us to call when someone would be home and he would be back. I called at 5:15pm and was told that someone was in route to my place. That is a complete contradiction to what I was told earlier, however I was close enough to home that I could get there quickly.
Waited till midnight. Not only did they not show, they didn't call either.
DO NOT EVER USE THIS COMPANY! I WILL LEAVE A NEGATIVE REVIEW ON THEM ANYTIME I CAN - it is UNACCEPTABLE and UNPROFESSIONAL

Staab & Sons Plumbing Service
extortion:  well not exactly since nobody forced me to give them money under threat,  but these people definitely know when your in a bad spot and they can charge you what ever they want.   unfortunately they are also in a business where that scenario happens all the time.  good thing  I am very handy and have a good sense how long things take to.  anybody that is not would be totally screwed by these people.

I had a terracotta sewer line that was cracked at the common lateral.  it was about 5 feet of 4 pipe that needed replaced and a smaller drain line from the kitchen that had to tied back into it.  I dug up the old line and exposed everything.  my plan was to do it all myself until I hit the common lateral which was a 8 pipe and I couldn't get the fitting from home depot.  In come's staab to the rescue.  I did all the heavy lifting and got a quote to just fix the line.  which consisted of cutting the 8 common later line,  Install a Y fitting and then tie that back into my 4 line.    I thought maybe a days worth of work and a couple hundred dollars worth of fitting.   The problem is that I have no toilet or running water until this gets fixed and they could see that.   The quote was $2600 dollars.  I asked them to explain the high cost and they estimated 2 people for 2 days and said the fitting were really expensive.   I said I would get back to them.   back in the hole I go to stubbed in a temporary line on my own to get by for a couple days and then called a bunch of plumbers to get quotes.  One quote $950,  another quote was $1150.  I went with the $1150 because he could start the job in a couple of days.  he came when he said and did a great job and he was done in 5 hours and onto the next call.

you should not use these people if you are in a situation where they can stick it to you.   because they will.

the good news is that now that we have the internet companies like this won't be able to get away with it forever.....
